Sanford Dole (1894-1903) The US overthrew native rule and annexed Hawaii as a territory for business purposes under Dole's leadership.

William Taft (1901-1903) The US assumed control of the Philippines with Taft as Governor after suppressing a people's revolution there.

Jorge Ubico (1931-1944) This president of Guatemala allowed US-owned fruit plantations to exploit Guatemalan land and labor. Defeated in a peoples' rebellion!

Carlos Castillo Armas (1954-1957) After the newly-created CIA defeated the people's rebellion in Guatemala, Castillo Armas exterminated the survivors and returned the land to the US fruit company. I got a 3- on my maths mock exam and can no longer think of anything else

#we were practising for next week's oral russian exam today. it decides whether we're gonna be allowed to sit the actual written exam #and I couldn't focus at all. usually I'm amazing at all the exercises but today I could barely string two words together #the grades go from 1 to 5 with 1 being the worst but also the most rare. idk what you have to do to get a 1 #so 2 is usually seen as the worst instead #iirc up to 7 points is a 2. 8-14 is a 3. 15-21 is a 4 and up from that is a 5 #I managed to get 8. one less point and I wouldn't have passed. literally passed by the skin of my teeth #and yeah it's only a mock exam and doesn't count towards anything... but try telling my dad that #once he finds out he will legit kill me #he's already so fucking disappointed in me. I don't know how much more of being a shitty daughter I can take #I just want the earth to swallow me whole #disappear so I won't have to face anyone #I just... can't
