#secret life #secret life smp #if i ever write a slsmp fic. everyone is going to be wounded as FUCK #like. i love it when fan artists draw the characters punctured with arrows #or burned after dying to lava/fire #and now with no health regen. how the injuries don’t go away #a worn and ragged green life almost desperate to turn yellow #if not for the full set of health again #stab wounds that don’t close. a heart bleeds until you die. the scratch marks itch under the armour #ohhhhhh it’s so sexy #teammates changing each others bandages bc the blood never stops #infected wounds? that only ease when more hearts are earned from the secret keeper?#i’m so obsessed with this already #like yessssss the player gets weaker and weaker as they lose more hearts #they are so damaged and injured they can barely raise their shield #their whole body aching. scathing with every hit and blow #and then when they gain hearts. and the RELIEF #of scorch marks fading. wounds closing. blood drying. pains easing. broken bones set themselves #so much cruelty in the world. everyone takes that extra little care with each other #no more friendly slaps on the shoulder or even high fives #everyone is just very still. too fatigued to do anything but survive

I'm sure that I'm not the first person to say this, but I really wouldn't mind a season of a show or a book in a series that is just characters living their lives. There isn't any world-shattering problem that the characters need to solve, no villain to fight, etc.

I think the best way to do this would be a sitcom or a book of short stories. Sitcom's are already insanely popular and it's usually just ordinary people dealing with everyday normal problems. Die-hard fans of book series with read any content related to their favorite characters. Also, imagine the character development! If characters are used to being in danger constantly, how will they handle ordinary life? How would it impact their relationships with the other characters?

So much potential!

He killed a lot of people, gaslight an 18 year old into believing he was doing all of that for the good of humanity, magically enslaved her, threatened her boyfriend when she escaped, political malpractice in the sense he threw over the monarchy, established a theocracy and then threatened neighbouring states with a black void of shadows and man eating monsters etc.

To get what they want, be in control (to weaponize the fold in the trilogy)

Lady Gisela Sencen

She has a "legacy" for her son; gaslighted him into thinking that she was the good parent; and she is in charge of a group of terrorists who torture kids :)

moth and compass! the project I've been working on with @natdrinkstea this year-and-some!!

I believe I've introduced our dramatis personae — Moth, an Inquisitive Young Protagonist; Goodfellow, a Ghost; Luna, a Lighthouse-Keeper; and Peregrine, an Ordinary Cat — a few times before, but I still don't think we've every really talked about the story!

and that is because it has taken. quite some time to actually figure out what Goeth On in moth and compass proper. it's a mystery-fantasy, that'll probably be best told as a scrapbook or a puzzle game or a thing along those lines*, and a somewhat purposefully-nostalgic ghost story. it's everyday magic and the haunted sea and learning to look beyond what you think is there and bubblegum pop road trips and creepy creatures in the shadows and the kind of navigational equipment that, if you use it just right, might take you places you'd never otherwise be able to see...

March '24 Wrap Up

The Mistress of Bhatia Hill ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Genre: Historical Mystery

Thoughts: I liked the mystery and Perveen is as always, a great protagonist to follow. There was one plot line that didn't get resolved but maybe it will in the next book when it comes out?

The Girl Who Drank the Moon ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Genre: Middle-grade fantasy

Thoughts: This book is so cute and wholesome and also the villain was terrifying. I now want my adopted family (even though I'm an adult) to be a poetic swamp creature who is as old as the Earth, a kind, but grumpy ancient witch, and a pocket-sized dragon who acts like a five year old child in the best way.

The Bone Shard Emperor ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Genre: Fantasy

Thoughts: I binged this book over spring break. I liked this one more than the first; the plot was more intriguing and the climax was so good. I also really liked the characters going to other islands and seeing more of this world.

Dune Messiah ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Genre: Classic Science Fiction

Thoughts: I really enjoyed this book; it was similar to the first one with pacing and politics. I liked seeing the rest of Paul's story but I didn't really like what happened with Alia's character.

Keeper of the Lost Cities ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Genre: Middle-grade fantasy

Thoughts: I adored my reread of this book so much! I love Sophie as a main character and her friendship with Dex was the highlight of the book for me.

A Good Girl's Guide to Murder ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Genre: Mystery

Thoughts: I did not want to read this book. It didn't seem like the type of story I would like and I was afraid it was overhyped. So when I had to read it for a class, I was not excited. But oh my word, I loved this book so much more than I thought I would! Pip is amazing she's so sarcastic and determined and Ravi is such a sweetheart. I did not guess Andie's killer, and the ending shocked me. I also got emotional multiple times reading it and that surprised me.
