13. What are some of your writing and reading pet peeves?

oh lord help me. i feel like my writing pet peeves are incredibly...stupid. i mentioned in an earlier ask that i get p tired reading off of screens, so because of that, i do (nearly) all of my writing by hand and then type it up later. one would think. this would mean. i have gotten better. at handwriting.

this is not so.

i hate having to reread my own chickenscratch and type it out asdkfjaklsdfj it's awful. absolutely the pits.

but with READING...really, formatting is the worst :\ i click out of a fic SO FAST if the formatting is bad. if i don't see paragraph breaks when different people are talking, mmm. that and characterization, honestly - if the fic isn't tagged "out of character," or even like "crack" and i find myself saying "they would not fucking say that" more than a handful of times, i just gotta hit the road, alas.

17. What are your top 3 favorite tropes of all time? 

#1 is alwaysalwaysalways gonna be "there was only one bed," or some iteration of that. honestly, anything involving sleep. falling asleep around someone you trust? yes. napping after the big battle? yesyesyes. it's too early in the morning to process the fact we ended up falling asleep in the same place, i'm too warm and cozy to bother being embarrassed? YEEEESSSSSSS. i am a girl who appreciates a good, sleepy fic. (it's DEFINITELY not me projecting, noooooo!)

close after that, i'm never sure if this counts as its own "trope," but the "oh no" moment for SURE. just that second where character a realizes, WHOOPS. UH OH. I'M IN THIS TOO DEEP!!! i love it. eat it up every. single. time.

then finally, i'm a sucker for fake dating/fake marriage/fake relationship of any kind, esPECIALLY when the characters involved are the kind who take it wayyy too far. the ones who REALLY commit to the bit, know what i mean??? the ones who are so caught up in being convincing that they forget to be embarrassed until WHOOPS THERE IT IS!!!

More Triple S stuff yippee!!!!!!!

It's not uncommon for one of them to not be at the condo for the night, sometimes they'll go to their own respective homes to see family (though they usually need permission from Eggman first BOOO)!!

Shadow lived with Gerald and Maria prior to joining the band!! Gerald has VERY high expectations for him, hoping that he could carry on his legacy and research after he retires (SHADOW DOES NOT WANT THAT!!! ) and as a result is fairly strict with him over a lot of shit and one of the main things is how Shadow chooses to present himself!!

Shadow loves alt fashion however Gerald DOES NOT, he'd made the mistake of dressing how he'd like once at home and never again!!! Now he makes an effort to dress rather formally around Gerald to make sure he doesn't piss him off.

So yeah the first time Sonic and Silver saw him in his more formal getup they're SHOCKED. They're so used to seeing him decked out in piercings and cool outfits that it's slightly jarring.

ALSO MARIA IS VERY MUCH ALIVE IN THIS AU - still ill but definitely not dead!!! If it weren't for her Shadow would not be visiting home regularly.

its kinda funny that the chaotix are like the only characters who mention having to pay rent or buy food or whatever and theyll take any job that pays because theyre desperate for money but none of the other characters are struggling in this department at all even though most of them dont seem to have jobs. its like the concept of needing money to live exists for no one in the sonic universe EXCEPT for vector espio and charmy

i feel like people are sleeping on the occam's razor situation of how buckwild it is to outright accuse a guy of being a clone of your friend even if you DO have a lot of circumstantial evidence. there's other options is what im saying. they could just be like. a guy. that's a sensible deduction. you should explore that deduction. ignore my shirt that reads I <3 RED HERRINGS.

How does one bring out the lap cat from a terrified tiny?

It's like 90% trust, 10% communication.

The thing about being a tiny frightened animal alone in a world of giants who do not understand what you are saying is that it is understandably terrifying. You, the giant, have to demonstrate that you are safe. You are friendly. You will help. You will learn to hear what the small scared creature is trying to tell you--I am afraid, leave me alone--and respect that. And you will bring food, and touch gently, and scratch the hard to reach places, and play, and be kind-kind-kind, for years, and then, eventually, around you the small scared thing will be safe.

When I am home and both of us are conscious, Vice is almost always in the same room as me. Even when I'm doing something scary, like vacuuming or wearing shoes. He knows the house is safe and he knows that I am the safest thing in the house, because I have put a lot of work into slowly gaining trust.

And because I am the safest thing, he wants attention and affection and petting, and the last leg has just been getting him to understand that 1. laps are a safe place to be and 2. I want him to be on my lap.

He gets it now.

no shade to the teens and early twenties bloggers but it’s hard finding people within my age group that are active and continue to contribute here in the community. 

also idk if anyone else experiences this but sometimes it can be difficult relating to the younger population due to generational differences, pop culture, etc.

i do just have to say though.................... i feel like people who really really loved the movie's portrayals of the characters are adding aspects of the show characters onto them? you know what i mean? like i see people say that adrien and marinette were more likeable in the movie than the show, when movie adrien didn't perform a single act of kindness in the entire 2 hours despite kindness being a core trait of adrien in the show? marinette was normal and not particularly weird at all and just kind of a generic protagonist? were adrien and marinette actually more interesting in the movie than the show, or are you just cherrypicking the aspects of them you like the from the show and putting them on the movie characters to make your favorite amalgamation?

marinette fell for adrien not because he showed vulnerability and forgiveness and kindness and opened his heart up to her.... but because he awkwardly tried to help her up after being kind of weirded out by her? so like i guess she thought he was hot and that was basically it? chat noir fell for ladybug not because she was strong and confident and showed determination in the face of fear... but because she begrudgingly helped him up in the middle of a battle? so like i guess he thought she was hot and that was basically it? they fell for each other over just the bare minimum interactions? most of their relationship was a montage? like, did the movie do the work to convince you of lovesquare's romantic potential, or did you go into the movie already shipping them because the show had already convinced you?

thats totally a valid way to enjoy the movie ftr! i'm just saying.... idk it's weird to see people praising the movie for being "better" when i feel like a lot of the enjoyment of the movie actually hinges on watching the show as context for their characters. and i guess im just a cringe slow-burn enjoyer but i find it weird that people are using "faster" as a synonym for "better"
