if i hear "scars to your beautiful" one more time on the work radio thingy i am going to murder someone. what a bleak, miserable and condescending song. i think im convinced that its my least favorite song of all time

re: tme discourse. did these people forget about gnc men?? gnc men are ABSOLUTELY affected by transmisogyny despite not being transfem. but that's not convenient for the argument so it doesn't matter (sarcasm)

I mean they literally do not care. The answer to this will always be "that's just misdirected transmisogyny, its not the same". I've seen people claim that homophobia towards queer men is essentially transmisogyny-lite (and the two are connected but imo its about the misandry/antimasculism directed at queer people perceived at transgressing male gender roles, and I have a feeling TME/TMA proponents would Not like that interpretation lmao).

The thing is I do understand part of the use for TME/TMA. In that transfems are the targets of transmisogyny, tend to be the ones most aware of it because of this, and therefore transfem voices should be central to its discussion*. But thats true of every single form of bigotry, and we don't use this "affected/exempt" system for literally anything else. Because its entirely unhelpful to imply that who can be affected by a bigotry is based on their identity. Not only can you be targeted for the wrong reasons, but it can be physically and mentally damaging and occur often enough to be a fundamental part of your life experience. And this is why I mean that "misdirected bigotry" is never used for anything other than possessiveness over being the victims of a certain type of bigotry. Its only ever used to tell other people that their victimization was less harmful and that they do not have a right to speak about that form of bigotry, creating a dichotomy between "real victims" and "fake victims", which alienates a large portion of the people being directly affected by that bigotry.

I try to do the opposite on this blog: while transmascs should be centered in discussions of transandrophobia, I actively encourage anyone to discuss their experiences with it, or antimasculism/misandry, or exorsexism, or anything I talk about! Because it helps us learn more about the functions of bigotry, and creates solidarity between all victims regardless of who they are. People who otherwise would not have had their pain validated (bc they are not in communities where it is addressed in the first place) are helped, and we get so many more comrades in our fight! And we can be open and supportive of non-transmasc transandrophobia (or non-transfem victims of transmisogyny) without decentering transamscs(/transfems) from the discussion.

The reason why creating this victim binary is important for TME/TMA is because imo these acronyms cannot be divorced from the baeddelist idea that transmisogyny is the worst form of transphobia/oppression, and non-transfems are oppressors of transfems... and therefore cannot be allied with, or can only be allied with if they act subservient**. Its fundamentally tied to the idea that other trans people have systematic power over transfems (& the sister belief of "transphobia isnt real its all transmisogyny" and "transfems are the only real trans people"). Which is antithetical to transunity. The belief that transmascs/afab trans people(/maybe amab trans people depending on whos talking about who) have an oppressor/oppressed relationship with transfems should be a major red flag; it's the source of a lot of people's feelings of not having the authority to talk about transphobia or transness in general. It's the source of uncomfortable dynamics between transmascs&fems where transmascs are expected to be differential to transfems and see themselves as oppressors obliged to "give back" to their victims. It's the source of transmascs being told they aren't in danger and have an obligation to serve as human shields for transfems, which puts can put people in real, serious danger.

ANYWAYS. My point is that there is no group you can pull out to prove TME/TMA proponents wrong. Even intersex people are either completely ignored, demonized, or heavily criticized and nitpicked when talking about how this binary is intersexist, and same with black women, despite intersex cis black women being a main target of a lot of transmisogyny. The fact that non-AMAB transfems experience transmisogyny will not do anything to make them change their minds because it can and will always be labeled "misdirected" and therefore insignificant.

*before anyone says some shit: transfems helped create transunity, many transunitist are explicitly following the beliefs of transfems they know and have learned from. anti-transunitist transfems are not the only ones to have valid opinions on how transmisogyny works. stop erasing the work transfems have put into constructing transunity theory. its okay to admit you disagree with transunitist transfems you don't have to act like they don't exist while harassing them off the internet

**no this is not about all transfems. there are many transfems outspokenly against this & many transfems who have been hurt by this. it is not transmisogynistic to address the real, serious harm certain transfems have done to trans people, which (as can be read abt in the link) very much includes abusive behavior towards transmascs which (imo) mirrors a lot of the rhetoric I see online about how "TMEs" should behave.

sorry but it's insane to say zines shouldnt cost more than $5. some ppl handstitch their zines! some ppl put hours of research into them! i love black and white printer paper zines too but theyre not the only kind of zines and they SHOULDNT be the only kind of zines!! the point of zines is that anyone can make them and you dont need a publisher's permission, you can just make it and it's cheap to reproduce. but it still costs money to print it (esp if you cant just sneak into your office job after hours and steal their materials to print it) and even besides that theres the creative labor involved in making it and if an artist wants to ask to be paid for their labor then thats their right! i really feel like limiting the definition of what a zine is or should be is antithetical to the spirit of zines. the beauty of zines is that you have freedom to do whatever you want

Unpopular opinion but I've never understood the appeal of trying to give Red a super angsty childhood, especially when everything we know about him points to the opposite being true. Neither Red or Yellow had parents growing up but thats never presented as a bad thing, and in fact their lives being idyllic is important to the narrative. There are a lot of fun angles on Red but this feels like the least interesting one, and it feels antithetical to his whole story

Maybe it’s just me, but something that left a bad taste in my mouth about how Luffy confronts Zeff is that, since Krieg & Gin aren’t there to present an abusive power dynamic that’s a foil to Sanji & Zeff, that fell onto Garp instead. Which to me (and a non-fan who was watching with me) made it feel like Luffy was projecting Garp onto Zeff and didn’t actually care about Sanji’s problems since he never touches base with Sanji in the episode again, even after it becomes obvious he got it all wrong... which feels weird for a major character’s introduction. And is also is a shame, because Taz knocks it out of the park and worked so hard to prepare for the role.

Same with that argument scene about Zoro fighting Mihawk, to a lesser extent. Luffy being hesitant and then agreeing kinda comes across like he only said yes because he’s reminded of Garp again, so he can have a “oh shit was my grandpa right all along” moment when Zoro’s defeated. Which is certainly a convention of modern tv drama, but the idea that this major character beat only happens so the protagonist can angst about it for a while felt so antithetical to how One Piece treats the crew and their goals/problems.

The scene with Zeff really reads like he's projecting Garp, which is also weird bc they never had a rivalry on itself, but rather a more like 'agree to disagree' 'im gonna kick your butt / you wish' kinda dynamic. Neither of them takes shit seriously and thats the charm too

But here Luffy comes across like he actively whant to defy Garp, and in the next ep Garp is so angry about Luffy. So you have scenes like those that have a very different read under that light

The prior figh moment was also strange. It was strange that he didnt support it and then went ok when mentioning dreams. Its true Luffy would change his mind that easily, but something was off

And in the next ep Nami spends a lot of time telling Luffy he has to make the hard choices and be a captain, when actually Luffy supporting the crew's dreams, even in failure, is a big part of it all. But again it doesnt come across like that, thats not the main point they are making. Instead of the 'no matter he lost it was worth it bc he went after his dream' speech Luffy makes outloud, it reads more 'shit maybe im being foolish chasing my dream'

I dont shame any of this, its just the direction they went with, which is different and is part of what adapting to a different platform and a new public was going to mean too

I will also say that a lot of the standards people are held to online are TERRIBLE for autistic people because a lot of it depends on picking up on an inherent understanding of what is right or wrong with very severe reprocussions if you mess up or misspeak. a lot of the callouts i see will be screenshots of someone saying something that the author and audience are supposed to know is wrong while also being the first time the subject had even heard that they did something wrong. or like people in discord servers absolutely flipping their shit going full aggro mode over someone saying the wrong thing because "they should have known better". and I guess whether you agree with that sentiment or not its a stressful thing to witness as an autistic person where often times trying to say the right thing in social situations feels like defusing a bomb. I think a lot of the time in the context of callouts people are already going in with the thesis of "this person is irredeemable" and so giving someone any kind of grace is antithetical to that point. so like anything someone says thats wrong or socially inappropriate is damning evidence of their dark soul. anyways I guess what I'm saying is I'm always sweating bullets whenever I'm trying to articulate myself online because I'm imagining every possible scenario where my words could get misinterpreted as an admission of guilt. so if I ever seem really unsure of myself to an exaggerated extent now you know why LOL

Basically yes they accused you of being a Sansa stan because Rhaegar and R/L shippers hate Sansa and her stans because, by and large, Sansa stans hate Rhaegar and think Lyanna was a victim. Sansa stans use her parallels with Joffrey in KL as a hostage to make parallels with Lyanna. Sansa stans, by in large, are anti-Dany, anti-Rhaegar, and anti-targ, and hate R/L as a ship for.....obvious fucking reasons lmao. I don't particularly care about either of these two characters to call myself a fan, but it's been hilarious to witness as an outside observer.

Also, further information on inter-fandom relations lol.....Arya stans are aligned with Rhaegar/Lyanna/Dany/Targ stans, fully believe R/L was some uncomplicated love story lmaooo, and will have a positive effect on Jon, once again lmaoooooo. Arya stans tend to lose their god damn minds whenever Sansa fans try to make parallels between Lyanna and Sansa because only Arya is allowed to parallel Lyanna. This is totally because both girls were gender non conforming and not because Arya stans like to use Lyanna as proof Arya will be the Prettiest Girl Ever and be the next Helen of Tory a la Lyanna and get her own targ prince in the form of Jon. No, they totally don't have headcanons or make up fanon in that regard. Not. At. All.

Anyway, the amount of discourse over a ship where the author couldn't be fucked to give the two individuals involved an in text conversation over 30 years across five books is beyond hilarious.

Imagine engaging in any if that unironcally and thinking you are in any way not deranged.

So, okay, let me wrap my head around their arguments. Rhaelya stans hate Sansa because..Sansa being a hostage makes Lyanna...look like she was a hostage...because there are parellels in both their situations. But of course Rhagear and Lyanna HAVE to be a love story, so naturally Sansa is antithetical to that because her story is a direct deconstruction of the false love story narrative.

And they also love Arya, because...Arya..looks like Lyanna...and isn't as hyper feminine as Sansa...so..therefore her fans think she aligns with Rhaegar because they...hate Sansa and pretend its a love story....

Even though the point of Lyanna Stark is that her untold narrative is comparative to both Sansa and Arya in different ways to showcase different aspects of the final years of a life in Lyanna we never knew. Sansa in a highborn girl trapped in a hostage situation where she has absolutely no way of escape, and is now forced to play along to her captors games because it is a matter of survival and watching them try to hold onto their goodness to varying degrees until someone helps them escape or not. And Arya, the more rambunctious girl who holds passions in things the boys do but knows she isn't supposed to engage in that stuff, but is encouraged by her brothers who ends up seperated and alone in the South far from her home and is forced into situations by proxy of having no one there to defend her against the adult soldiers.

But they are wrong in trying to align one sister over the other in who is the better Lyanna parallel. Because Sansa and Arya are not Lyanna. They are two aspects which tell us Lyannas story, but neither of them are actually Lyanna. There is only one character who represents Lyanna as a person, and thats her son.

No one is actually comparable to Lyanna Stark as a person, except for her son, Jon Snow.

Sansa and Arya are the motifs in which her story can be understood, but Jon is the character that tells us who she was as a person. Jon is the Winter Rose.

Also speaking of Jon idk how these people turn every single debate about these 4 characters (Rhaegar, Lyanna, Sansa, Arya, also Dany) into discussions about how THEY have the correct incest ship.

. it also happens to be an exercize in having a concept, going “hey, wouldnt it be funny if--?” and then it sticks and you have to commit. i keep trying to explain in a way that Makes Sense, but im gonna be honest. theres just So Fucking Much going on and ive been trying to write this for hours and i dont even know where to start summarizing WAHAHAH. i dont know if its very Canon Aligned but it sure is very Me Aligned and i sure am gonna commit to the bit! anyway.

its heavily in-progress and was supposed to be a clean one-role swap but! Well!!!! It Sure Isn’t Anymore!!!

under the cut since im Incapable of keeping things short:

funy lil swap au! ft: Yui: “Older” Brother who Thinks he’s in charge. a beleaguered 14-year-old who stumbled into being a slayer and super isn’t prepared for this. Unfortunately, having your sole remaining family turn into a demon is kind of antithetical to “go home and pretend nothing happened.” he is handling this very well. (lie) a user of wind-breathing, his main priority is keeping him and mui safe, and is a bit overprotective. which is a problem, since mui will charge headfirst into the first sign of danger to protect him. their relationship is a bit messy, but they’re pretty much the only thing holding each other together. a kid trying so hard to act bigger than he is-- and inevitably, routinely failing.

Mui: Odd Little Creacher secretly hiding Rage More Powerful Than A Thousand Suns. just barely surviving the attack of their family one fateful night by That Man, he manages to completely break the curse and hunger or being a demon through his own sheer will. unfortunately, he also completely loses control of himself and, in order to make sure that energy doesnt completely tear him apart, his consciousness completely mists over-- leaving him rather airheaded and distant in an attempt to hold back the roaring of a new power he cannot control. . but hes so silly!! ^w^ couldn’t hurt a fly!!

Murata: Some Fucking Guy who just so happened to get roped into all this. is just absolutely baffled this kid is out here slaying demons like this, and is honestly doing his best to make sure he doesn’t stupidly get himself killed. despite being at a higher rank than them, though, he’s kind of... well, he hasn’t gotten the hang of water-breathing techniques. try as he might, he just cant quite reach the same skill level as some of his peers. even still though, he has to keep trying. he has a job to do, and promises to keep.

Susamaru: Professionally identifies as a Problem. a user of beast-breathing, she just kind of... shows up one day and starts antagonizing. originally started fighting the twins for the honestly-kind-of-reasonable reason of “That Kid Is A Demon And Thats A Fucking Problem” but got distracted messing with yui enough to get. kinda curious about the other one. she’s loud and brash and fucking annoying, but at some point she just... asserted herself. and never left. she’s an odd case. ridiculously skilled at the whole slaying-demons thing, she just... doesnt seem to take things seriously. has a penchant for irritating people on purpose-- but its purely for the extent of understanding how they work. what makes them tick. she’s here for a good time, not a long time. most of her peers don’t like her much, but once she’s decided that she likes someone, theres very little she wont do for them. and these nerds just so happen to be next on the list.

. all in all, its just these dorks against the world. there’s just. a ridiculous amount of mess ive written about how they function and how their arcs shape up, and while there Are some other roles and etc written up, my brain has been completely laser focused on These Four In Particular, so . \o/ ! anyway, heres a bunch of ambient sketches from all over the place of Them(tm)

still working on typing out the arkham knight stories. its weird, seeing so much mention and description about how the jokers death changed him (the one im working on now, "Faithful Servant" in particular seems to imply a developing eating disorder) and yet not much mention of jason. i assume thats because he has been gone for a while at that point, given that tim was already robin as far back as arkham city, but theres still something gnawing at me about it. maybe its something like, the writers are telling me jason is right, bruce really doesnt care about him, but that feels like too simplistic of an interpretation. jason/robin dying is an occupational hazard. acceptable not because it is good or right but because it's a simply a reasonable possibility. joker dying is unthinkable. it forces bruce to reevaluate himself (or moreso how he does his work) which has never come naturally to him. maybe the joker was his better half. maybe he made up such a significant part of bruces own sense of self that he doesnt know how to deal with the sudden change. maybe its not about the joker at all. maybe the joker is just the catalyst from which hes forced to truly address what hes been doing all this for. joker as a representation of everything bruce has staked himself on. not antithetical to his personal philosophy, but a corrupted branch of it. the whole "we have a lot in common" shtick weaved into a macabre show of mutual insanity.

For as long as Lestat could remember, he had always felt torn inside. A part of him longing to be a rockstar, longing for the adrenaline and the lifestyle, the fast pace of it all, the long nights, the crows, the fans; another part of him longing for the simple life he never got to have as a child, the routine, the support of his own little family, the comfort of coming home to a house that wasn't empty and cold but filled with laughter, joy, the smell of fresh homemade food and even one or two messes here and there…

It seemed like whatever he choose to do with his life, he was always going to feel the lack of something. He didn't think he could ever have them both, have everything... Until he met Louis.

Louis De Pointe Du Lac had had enough crazy days -and nights- as a teenager and a young adult that by the time he turned thirty, his hunger for adventure was completely sated. Partying, drinking, gambling and gluttonous whoring held no appeal to him anymore. He was perfectly happy to live a quiet life as an English teacher… Until he met Lestat.

Their lifestyles couldn't be more opposed, their worlds more different. But you know what they say about opposites, and so Lestat and Louis fell for each other like rain falls in July in New Orleans. And against all odds, somehow, their love worked.

And suddenly, Lestat was able to blend together both aspects of his dreams, both sides of him, so seamlessly and naturally, it made him wonder why he had ever thought about them as antithetical in the first place.

He didn't missed staying out till later at night, because he knew the real fun woud start when he got home. Or sometimes to the car, when Louis and him were too impatient to keep their hands off each other any longer. He didn't envy the models watching his bandmates record their parts from the other side of the glass, because his husband was far more beautiful than any of them. He didn't envy their sports cars cause now he owned something far more precious than any expensive watch or drones or toys, and he needed a backseat to carry it.

No, the jewel currently in his arms was getting him more attention than any flashy possession he could think of.

Little Claudia was currently perched on his knee, banging the drums with all the might her toddler arms were capable off, as he juggled keeping her balanced and keeping the huge noise canceling headphones rightly placed on her tiny head to completely cover her teeny baby ears. He could feel Louis' hawk eyes on the both of them even from the other side of the glass, and it was totally unnecessary, cause he was perfectly capable of keeping his baby girl safe. But far from finding it annoying, the thought of his husband worrying and loving the delicate being he was holding as much or even more so than himself did, made him love Louis even more.

He had never thought that was possible.

"Alright, Lestat, I think thats a wrap. We totally have what we needed" Daniel’s voice resonated through the speakers, the red light turning off, signaling they weren't recording anymore and it was safe for him to talk now.

"Really? And how did she do?"

The goofy smiles from all his bandmates were a real sight: four grown men, looking every bit the rockstars they were, totally wrapped around the finger of his two year old.

"Amazing. She is a prodigy, Les, I'm telling you. We might have to replace you with her. Maybe even have her lead the band"

"Baby Claudia and The Vampires" Armand decided, making Lestat chuckled.

It had a nice ring to it.
