AITA for calling my mom a rainbow capitalist and saying that she isn't an ally?
It's Pride Month... Yay... But... My mom bought cookies with rainbow package and a rainbow umbrella and said she found it "cute" and "nice" that there are such things in the stores nowadays. I'm 17 NB and my brother is bi 26 and mom always supported us, she said she would always protect us and that a society that was against us is wrong.
Just that... it's not enough buying some cookies and merch?! You need to actually do something, not just buy things because it looks cute and supportive? I told her that real allies actually DO something. They protest, they talk to politicians and so on, she doesn't do that, she just complains about queerphobia and leaves it at that.
I said to her that it was just rainbow capitalism annd she doesn't count as an ally, and she looked sad and said she thought I would be happy about sharing the cookies with me and brother (he doesn't live here but he visits this weekend.) My brother said I was being really rude, it was uncalled for, mom is an ally and she was really sweet to show that she cared. By that logic our dog is an ally too because he doesn't bite us... I went up to my room to watch a show and I guess brother and mom ate the cookies themselves lol.

About the playlist:
Finn was very much capable of making it private. He didn’t. He chose to display this publicly. If it was personal and he didn’t want it scrutinised he would’ve kept it to himself. At the very least he clearly doesn’t care who sees it. It’s not in any way invasive to discuss unless someone is using it to make assumptions about a real person instead of a character.
He is not unaware of his fanbase. The guy has over 200k followers on Spotify and is verified, and he knows he is most famous for the hit show he stars on. A hit show he is currently filming. And he decided to make a playlist with “ST” blatantly in the title. You decide if he had no idea what he was doing lol. If it was just a bunch of songs he likes he typically titles those things like ‘the tunes’, ‘jams’, ‘summer’ or even just ‘my playlist’. Things that actually make sense in that context. “STurn” does not, in fact it’s completely nonsensical unless you assume there’s some non-surface meaning there.
There are songs incredibly specific in terms of relating to the themes of Mike’s storyline and also the show in general. To me, saying that’s coincidental on a playlist with such a name feels like the bigger reach. Also the songs are not random, if you listen they actually have a pretty cohesive narrative.
The last song is the same as the last song on Will’s official Spotify playlist…
He has made character playlists before! He has one explicitly for Richie. And also he’s apparently said he listens to music to get into the headspace for filming, and is literally known for it on set. This is absolutely something he would do.
All in all I think it’s logical to deduce that this is the playlist he’s using to help get into character for Mike. Other explanations I’ve seen just seem like skepticism for the sake of skepticism (which I understand & each to their own but also it’s not like he could just title it ‘Stranger Things’ or ‘Mike’ without getting in trouble lol. This way he retains plausible deniability). That being said if you’re interested stay tuned cause I’m working on a dive into the songs & how they could relate to s5 Mike :)

The 'haired' helmets are strange..
It IS odd how we get to wear the characters' hairstyles, as it is just really unlikely they're scalps! I suppose the explanation is the same as why we are able to completely change upon looking into a mirror at Roundtable's Hold; as long as the Tarnished is guided by Greater Will, they'll have its aid and be transformed into whatever they see fit to keep carrying on! So I think the implication here is that we do, physically, grow the hair of the demigods (or champions) upon trying to tap on their power! I think if GW abandons a Tarnished, or if they abandon it, they lose this 'ability', which our playable character never does, so..
I am not sure whether it is Maliketh's own long mane or also a decoration! I'd like to think the former, in which case, same logic as with hair of Malenia, Godfrey and Radahn applies! Vargram's "hair" definitely is a decoration, and specifically for the purpose of imitating shadowbeasts:
Ensha's armour goes even further and not only gives us a hairdo, but makes us a skeleton:
We even get his power of slight regeneration, similar to Erdtree's normal powers:
All implications considered, I really doubt that this is just how armour looks, especially considering no change in size. We are not 'wearing' the skull, we ARE the skull now fhhsfd And this time the NPC data inside simply exists because Ensha does use NPC code and mechanics. So, we turn into a corpse! Again, should not matter much since as long as we're carried by GW we don't need to eat or sleep or... anything, really. (I'll also die on the hill of the theory that Ensha was one of the deceased Marika's offspring whose Mausoleum crashed and what was left from him crawled out but that's another story fdhfhds)

Niall is that one guy we fight in Castle Sol, so similarity in this case ALSO checks out! Also cute idea: what if decoration for the helmets of Godrick's Knights IS his own hair? ;-;
That could also be speculated about Redmane Knights, but I feel like it'd be more appropriate for Godrick's. Radahn would be stingy about his amazing lion mane whereas Godrick can not only take body parts but also give them XDDDD yeah yeah terrible whatever
The black hair on Night Cavalry's helmet can be removed, also confirming that in this case it is a decoration. This hair does have interesting flowing animation though! Maybe it IS the hair of Night Cavalry themselves, still having their shadowy energy, but cut and attached again to their own helmets (kind of like Ciaran from DS1 decorated her helmet with her own braid!)
Another case of hair not being actual hair but part of the mask; the way hair is placed, it'd had to grow from like, eyebrows level and face itself or something fdhfdsdfh Maybe this style with braids and grey hair was intended to refer at Godfrey's? Alternatively, what IF their faces are actually furry/animalistic despite otherwise human build, so the hair doubles as fur? We don't see them behind the mask, after all? A food for a thought lol

The water dancer in blue gave the sword to Malenia's teacher, the blind guy that once sealed the God of Rot himself, and these warriors in blue appear to be following the same philosophy of "ever running water preventing stagnation, so, rot itself" as him! Although this head piece imitates just a follower and not the man himself (as far as we are aware....), perhaps the sentiment is strong enough to give us the hairdo too x) Again, funny enough, it seems to resemble the Lady of the Lake fairy herself!
I suspected the case of 'sharing hair' with Cleanrot Knights too, but upon closer look I can tell it is supposed to be some fabric/rags, rather than hair or hairlike accessory! Probably more efficient to imitate the look with rags rather than something hairlike tbh, considering the lenght of the thing! So I think the design is more meant to represent Malenia's own unhappy fate, with short tuft being the "hair" and the longer tails being the "wings" :

In conclusion, it is kind of easy to deduce which hair become our actual hair for the time being because of golden grace 'reshaping' us and which hair is just decor! But it is really interesting stuff to think about all the way!

isat thoughts, go
[this ask is actually an excuse to ramble about whatever thing you can't get someone else to prompt you to ramble about]
i just woke up so this probably wont be too coherent but here we go!
I, like many, discovered ISAT through @jelloapocalypse’s fantastic video on the game, and by that I mean I watched the first 5 minutes of the video and immediately stopped and played the game myself.
I already liked time loops as a literary device, especially in games (outer wilds rocks, 12 minutes is interesting despite the general quality, etc) but ISAT managed to get me interested in the story and its characters before even introducing time loops as a mechanic. (Y’ALL I WAS NOT PREPARED FOR ISABEAU TO JUST COME OUT SWINGING LIKE THAT! I clocked that motherfucker before the gang even left dormont, he isnt smooth.)
ANYWAY besides the great character writing, ISAT also managed to nail its genre parody right off the bat, the literal RPS combat is so funny, Mirabelle gives off such RPG protagonist vibes, and its a neat take on the genre to center the narrative around the “edgy”rogue (HA Scissors pun). Along with the fact that Siffrin is absolutely the right amount of mentally unstable, you have all the perfect ingredients for great genre deconstruction.
Spoilers Under the Cut So be WARNED
There are tons of people talking about the story beats further so i’m not gonna spend more time here reinventing the wheel, but something I will talk about is how the game leverages ludonarrative assonance, I.e. how the game reflects the experience of the player as a part of the story.
In the case of ISAT, this manifests as the growing boredom both the player and Siffrin experience as they continue through the loops. On my first few loops I took care to avoid skipping dialogue and made sure my party was leveled up enough to succeed at any of the fights they faced. I explored thoroughly and enjoyed the process of doing so and I only reset when the game asked it of me.
But as the game continued I found myself zoning out of more and more dialogue, skipping more and more fights, and resetting whenever it would save me time. And Siffrin was with me all the way through all of it, his internal monologue growing increasingly disinterested with the affairs of his party members and the dangers they were in.
Ironically, in a game so outside my lived experience I found myself mentally aligned with Siffrin in a way that's frankly a little concerning. (im ok im not in a time loop lol)
The magic of ISAT for me was in that alignment, of feeling a shared purpose with a character, and in the breaking of that alignment in the games later acts. One of my favorite moments in any story is when I realize I can no longer fully root for the main character. Siffrin's last loop was that moment for me and I loved it. Siffrin's final trek through the House is so awful to watch but also represents the logical conclusion of his decent. The witty commentary is gone, his family is gone, the muscle memory that he and I shared in navigating the house is no longer reliable. Its all no longer necessary.
In Siffrin's mind, whats left of them isn't worth saving. And then finally, agonizingly, they are saved. Despite his best efforts to self destruct, his family come for him and they're mad and they're scared but they do it anyway, even when the world is ending around them.
Anyway yeah i love this game so much Siffrin is Stars' most mentally unwell soldier and i love them and their stupid family so much.

Request from @lamalicious-potato about Dranzer's HC having healing powers lesgo ☕
Honestly, this was something I had more subconsciously than anything, so expanding on this idea is a little funny, because I think: where did this actually come from?
When I try to connect the dots the first thing that comes to me is G-rev, through the battle between Kai and Brooklyn. I mean, Kai was so f.. injured - aside from the censorship, and in the end he's totally fine, no scars, wow.
Despite being a common logic in anime of this genre, this ended up becoming an HC, so the first thing I thought was that Dranzer had something to do with it:
- I think that bit-beasts in general do this to a greater or lesser extent, and this is not something exclusive to Dranzer, in this case she just has a high healing capacity.
- Some injuries she is not able to heal, whether caused by other specific bit-beasts or from the time he was at the Abbey.
- I have this HC that has an ugly scar between his hip and thigh from the Abbey facilities.
- Minor wounds and scratches usually disappear within a few hours or up to a day. I always think about how funny it sounds for someone to see this firsthand, like some of his teammates.
- He's probably careless about his own injuries because of this.
- The fact that he heals quickly is closely related to his mental state and his synchrony with Dranzer, obviously he is not capable of doing this if he is too weak.
- The previous idea is also linked to another HC that all bladers with bit-beasts spend a very small amount of energy to maintain their beasts (like a rental lol), but Kai is not known for saving energy when necessary, so sometimes he's not able to heal.
- Dranzer also has a mechanism to "leave" his master if Kai is too fragile, this makes him recover on his own without worrying about her (he hates this btw, but he only has himself to blame for being so reckless).
- While Dranzer is capable of providing healing, Black Dranzer is essentially 'self-destructive', she needs to absorb energy from somewhere, and if she cannot do this through other bit-beasts, she will do so through her own master by default. This would probably also explain why they wouldn't complement each other so easily.
An unrelated extra: I find Kai and Dranzer's relationship extremely interesting and I love playing with the idea that even though he has "lost" Dranzer many times, he will never get used to the feeling. And he'll be anxious and stressed without her, really restless and sensitive. If I were to put emotions into Dranzer about this, she would probably roll her eyes at Kai still being an impatient child.

Hello! New ish follower here with a curious ‘what if question’: what if Edward was training Jenny to be an assassin?
So you think she’d fully commit to becoming one after his death/ her abduction? (I’d love her to meet Anne again ahh 😭)
Hello! Welcome! Sorry for the delay (said in the tone of an old woman who suddenly has visitors) :)
First of all, let’s talk about why Edward wouldn’t want Jenny to become an Assassin and wanted her to get married to someone he considered ‘financially stable’.
Edward isn’t the type of person to be swayed by what was considered to be the norm during his time so I like to believe there’s a deeper reasoning to why he was so adamant of stopping Jenny.
The whole “I want my children to be safe” can’t really be the reason because he was training Haytham to be an Assassin when he was young.
Because of this, my headcanon is that Edward fears Jenny’s death and that’s what stopping him from understanding just how deeply Jenny wishes to be an Assassin.
Although he tries to not favor any of his children, Jenny reminds him of his failures as a husband and a father. The dress Jenny wears in the epilogue of Black Flag is very similar to her late mother’s dress so there’s a possibility that she inherited her mother’s taste of dresses (or maybe she actually picks dresses that reminds her of her late mother).
This only serves to remind Edward of Caroline and the growing fear of losing Jenny as well to a similar sickness that could have been cured had it been treated.
Had Caroline had the money needed for the treatment.
And then…
She started showing interest in being an Assassin.
He sees the growing anger in her eyes as she sees him training Haytham instead of her when Haytham doesn’t even know what all of this training was for.
He sees her and he sees someone he lost in her as well.
He sees an Assassin he cared for and lost.
He sees Mary Read.
The more he tries to push her away from her desires to be an Assassin, the more he tries to keep her safe, the angrier she becomes.
The more she becomes jealous of Haytham.
And so…
We need a change.
Something that would snap Edward from his haze of grief and guilt.
Someone who can tell him how he’s seeing his daughter but not seeing her at the same time.
And that person?
Is Anne Bonny.
For this to work, we need Anne to remain with the Brotherhood and it is hinted on that she became an Assassin in Assassin’s Creed Memories’ card of her having her brandish a Hidden Blade (I kinda hc that it’s Mary’s Hidden Blade) so we can have Anne paying a visit to an old friend of hers, just a simple social call. Tessa is suspicious though since she’s a beautiful woman that, as far as she knows, is unattached.
She has a husband though and her own children are training to be Assassins.
That’s why she can see the anger and jealousy in Jenny’s eyes.
And she can also see the guilt and grief in Edward’s eyes.
So she mediates for the both of them.
It takes a while for her to get the two stubborn Kenway and Scott to meet at the middle.
But in reality, it’s more of Jenny getting more of the upper hand because, not only did she get what she wanted (to be trained as an Assassin) but also a bonus (her father stops trying to get her engaged).
Anne left soon after, knowing her inclusion to the start of Jenny’s training would simply lessen Edward’s authority and recruits need to fully trust their instructor.
But she did promise to visit more often to keep an eye on Edward.
Why Edward?
Because she has to make sure Edward doesn’t slip back to those dark thoughts again (she says this playfully but she’s actually quite worried).
That following morning…
Haytham is surprised to see his older sister joining them.
But she just glared at him so he kept quiet.
And so…
Edward starts training Haytham and Jenny together.

Unorganized Notes:
Haytham started learning swordfighting at 6 so that’s around 1713 with Jenny being 18.
Jenny’s inclusion makes Haythan’s training more… thorough. While he does need to focus on increasing his stamina, he tends to try out the freerunning techniques that Jenny is taught while he’s doing his own training because they look ‘fun’ and also he’s a bit peeved that Jenny gets to be taught those while he’s been ordered to just… run.
There’s a bit of rivalry going on here. Haytham is more of a prodigy and some of it can be attributed to Tessa’s genes as he does need to be ‘better’ than most to pass on the Auditore-Kenway genes to Ratonhnhaké:ton (and to Desmond). Because of this, Jenny works harder than the two of them to simply catch up, not realizing that catching up to Haytham means being better than most recruits her age.
Jenny gets the title of the ‘Wild Kenway Girl’ because of this though but she just ignores this. This worries Tessa, mainly because she’s worried no one would marry Jenny and that is a bleak future for a woman as far as Tessa can see. Jenny just shrugs it off and jokes that Haytham would take care of his undesirable sister when she’s old and wrinkly. Haytham takes this seriously much to his parents’ amusement and Jenny’s groaning.
By the time Birch makes his move, Jenny would have already been inducted as an Assassin (22), perhaps a novice or a rank higher.
Since you specify Edward’s death, that means that we’re not saving Edward in this one XD
So we’re left with two main ideas after Edward’s death:
(1) Jenny is captured and, by the time she escaped (with Anne and her children’s help), Haytham had been taken by Birch and has been inducted to the Templar Order, leading us to the Kenway-Scott Abel and Cain setup. In this one, Jenny would be hunting down Haytham and no one is sure if she’s hunting him to try and reason with him or to kill her because he’s a ‘stain’ in the Kenway name. In this one, Jenny would end up being Ratonhnhaké:ton’s secondary mentor who doesn’t always agree with Achilles.
(2) Jenny is able to fend off her attackers and protect Haytham but fails in protecting their father. In this one, Jenny stays with the Kenways and takes over the household after Tessa has a breakdown (calling her and Haytham monsters). Birch is gone in the wind because he knows the Assassins know he’s a Templar and Jenny takes over training Haytham as well. In this one, Haytham becomes an Assassin who has a vendetta over Templars and hunting down Birch (who would now be the one to go to the colonies which will lead to Haytham and Kaniehtí:io meeting because… no matter how much is changed from what is meant to be… the Calculations will always find a way to ensure the birth of Desmond Miles will come to pass)

what i love about the Famous Actor Natori Shuuichi of it all is that...it's not just that he's famous and therefore widely recognizable wherever he goes. like yes that is very funny because he was an exorcist before he became a famous actor, which means he CHOSE, on purpose, a day job that would make it harder to hide his double life/secret identity from the hordes of his adoring public, but it's more than that. it's not just that he's famous, it's that he's famous specifically for being an ACTOR, aka a person whose job it is to dissimulate, to make believe, to inhabit roles and emotions other than his own. like he decided he was going to become as visible as possible (which again was literally not necessary! he could have gone into any other career for his day job!!) but in such a way that everyone would see him but no one would see him - they would just see his various made-up personas, including the Famous Actor Natori Shuuichi persona. i can't decide if he's a genius or if he just made so many absurd decisions that they canceled each other out and circled back around to working out. he's either playing 9-dimensional chess or he's eating the pieces. too soon to say.

i wonder how the really militant vegans who are like we need to kill every single obligate carnivore in the world so that the normal and peaceful herbivores never get hurt <3 feel about the fact that plants are very scientifically proven to move, react to damage done to them, recognize plants of the same species nearby that aren't related to them and try to outcompete them, make sounds to communicate needs (but not at frequencies humans can hear), etc etc... like if you think a clam has an inherent sanctity of life and shouldn't be getting dropped by birds onto concrete to break their shells and eat the meat inside of them then you should be equally opposed to the way that plants, which can do many of the same things animals can just in different ways, are getting predated cruelly and heartlessly by those same herbivores

listen. as much as I know (and love) that this doctor who special was v much trans rights save lives in the very blatant way that leaves no room for doubt for any wilful misinterpretation with the erasure of transness from the narrative esp in the terf supreme climate which was very necessary and important, and as much as I understand that dw is abt logical reasoning things making sense in a very (emphasis on very) abstracty hand-wavey way and you'd come up blank if you try to get into specifics ... i have just one question.
why did Donna and Rose Noble tell the doctor "we just let it go. you wouldn't understand as a male-presenting doctor." like.. that bit truly ???? me and I just didn't understand like... what does. male-presenting have to do w anything.. I think, the hardest part in this ‘consideration’ is getting me to like someone to that degree. I have a strict criteria for who I allow to get close to me and also tend to lose interest quickly if even one of those conditions aren't met. Call me an Aventurine for this, but it's sort of an ‘all or nothing’ ; specifically in the romantic area. Which is definitely why I don't have any practical experience in this field and the worst part? I'm fine with it :>
But, people have mentioned that when I really like someone as a person/platonically, it becomes pretty obvious. I tend to do things I normally wouldn't just for them, e.g. I'll approach them first, look for them when they aren't present, try to remember their birthday (I have a hard time remembering dates), get them a gift at least once in half a year, engage in small talk, defend them if someone's targeting them, will share my personal belongings with them, gossip with them and just overall try to make them feel special (huh, no wonder), I suppose. Maybe after I get a job, there'll be something more to the itinerary.
I will classify myself as a ‘subtle yandere’ for now, definitely has the potential to do something drastic and might do something drastic if snapped or if the conditions are met. What are the conditions? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Stop it. If you want to see Obi-Wan get his back blown out by Anakin, just say that. It’s okay to wanna see ur fave characters fuck or suck each other off you don’t have to gas light urself + everyone else preaching about how it’s the only reasonable / most believable / most practical ship. And yah some people may find your ship a little fuckin weird but who cares, show ur fave ship + characters some respect and stand by them without some twitter level performative nonsense

Listen. It's not that artists have stopped making things, I can assure you we are still creating, it's that no one is posting the things they make anymore because yall just aren't interested. "but I am interested!" Then put your money where your mouth is and INTERACT. REBLOG. COMMENT. LIKES DO NOTHING TO SPREAD THE ART.
Let me put it this way. Let's say you're going to this big party and you decide to bake a cake for everyone because you like baking. You spend hours baking and decorating a beautiful cake and you're so happy with it and you can't wait to share it with everyone else. You bring it to the party and at the end of the night no one has taken a single slice. Maybe you heard someone in the corner talking to themselves saying that the cake looked nice, but no one actually ate any or said it tasted good, which, you know, is the purpose of food. To eat it. So even though you enjoyed making the cake you'd probably still feel pretty terrible and think you wasted your time, yeah? You might end up wondering why you even brought a cake if no one wanted any and think that you might as well have just left the cake at home and ate it yourself. This is what is happening!! Everyone is baking cakes and just eating them at home by themselves, maybe with one or two close friends, instead of bringing it to the party to share because what is the point of bringing a cake to a party if no one eats the cake?
So now we have people going to the party expecting cake but there are no cakes and so they're complaining about it. Meanwhile, all the bakers are at home eating mountains of cakes because they still want to bake things but as far as they know, nobody else wants to eat the cakes but them. It would be nice to share the cake with someone else, but there's no point in trying to share a cake if no one wants to eat cake. Maybe, if these people at the party started eating the cakes, or started telling other people about the person that makes really good cake, the bakers would start bringing cakes to the parties again and sharing them.

hi! we dont know each other but ive stumbled upon your posts in which you describe your anxiety brain and borrowing trouble from the future and i can totally relate to that. and it sounds a lot like ocd, which i know i have... idk if this would be helpful
sometimes i do see things about ocd that i relate to. i think a lot of the underlying thought patterns and fears are probably similar. i don't think i respond to them in the way that somebody with ocd does, though -- i don't experience compulsions and don't find any relief from behaving in certain ways or performing certain rituals, i just experience profound dread and physical discomfort until i'm able to forget about the thing that triggered the anxiety or i move on to something else
my sister has ocd, which i only learned recently (we don't live together and aren't super close), but again, although i see overlap between our experiences, i think we respond to those triggers differently and find different things helpful/harmful. obviously everyone is different so that doesn't rule out the possibility that i'd also have it, but i think it makes it less likely
generally i think my issues are largely attributable to generalised anxiety disorder, some kind of brainweirds (not sure if autistic or have adhd or both), and a solid dose of complex trauma that contributes a fair amount of hypervigilance and fear to the proceedings which make standard anxiety tactics less helpful
i think all mental health diagnoses are labels we give to certain groups of symptoms rather than like. firmly grouped Conditions between which there can be no overlap, though. some aspects of anxiety and ocd are very similar, and some are different -- the same stars in different constellations. i think i score more points in the anxiety chart, so that's where i am for now, but doesn't mean i'm not experiencing some of the same things, if that makes sense (and it also doesn't mean that some coping mechanisms designed for one condition won't work just because i don't think i fit under that label -- sometimes they do)
#in this current situation i think i'm experiencing a heady dose of needing (and failing) to mask neurodivergence#AND pretend to be cis AND the overwhelming drive to Be Helpful and Be A Good Neighbour which feels existentially important#especially amidst the horrors of the world since i can help with so few large-scale things so the small ones start feeling like proxies#plus the christian upbringing. can't forget that. it's definitely a factor. good samaritan sleeper agent activated at cost to myself#while also being too chronically ill AND too anxious to be capable of handling any of those things on their own let alone all of them#and while logic brain tells me i can just say no. other logic brain tells me that doing so would be leaving a vulnerable person isolated#and compassion brain won't let me do that. but compassion brain needs to apply to me as well and mostly... doesn't#and that's the part i need therapy about lol#sometimes it's not so much religious/moral OCD as having grown up actually extremely religious#they look very similar but the underlying mechanisms and brain patterns are subtly different.#brainweasel hotel
