Got to the rink and learned we were missing two of our three players who know how to play defense. That wasn't good, and it got worse when the two subs we had also didn't know how to play defense. It was certainly not a good day for me to have messed up and eaten too much dinner, so I felt all full and slow, but it seems I did that anyway.
So we played the entire game with only one guy who knew what he was doing in the defensive position he was playing. That meant more work for me, even though I wasn't feeling great. Thankfully, we did have our fast offensive player, who is always a threat to score with good speed and a good shot, and he gave us an early lead.
Then they tied it on a two on zero break where I made the save, and then the guy fell down and slid into me. Even though our players had managed to get back by then, they didn't get the puck, and the other team got a shot off before I was really able to be ready, and it was tied.
Then we got another couple of chances, and the same player scored on a breakaway and another in an excellent shot, and we were up 3-1. They managed to score on a decently fast shot that was to my left that our sub playing defense deflected to go to my right, and I tried to readjust to it but couldn't. But at some point I didn't notice the net had gotten knocked off, and the ref correctly ruled the goal off because of that, which was very good. So the first period ended with us up 3-1.
In the second period, they started to outplay us, and we weren't able to get the scoring chances we finished off in the first period. I had to make some good saves before they got a one on none break. I got a bit on the first shot, and it went off the post. Then, our defender got to it first and totally messed up trying to clear it and let them tap it in. That was kind of frustrating, but at least we were still winning 3-2.
In the third, the play was even more lopsided, with them controlling things pretty convincingly for pretty much the entire period. I was playing well, though, and made some great saves to keep us in the lead. Then I think with about five minutes to go, their best player got the puck and I knew he was going to shoot it but one of our players who is a winger but was playing back on defense tonight screened me pretty bad and I wasn't able to see him take the shot, which was well placed over my shoulder and had tied the game at 3. After that, they pretty much kept attacking to try to win it, but I made good saves, and even though I didn't feel well and didn't want to at all, we went to overtime.
The overtime was surprisingly more even than the game had been for at least the entire second half and we had the best scoring chance when my dad got off a solid shot that looked in from my end but apparently beat the goalie and then bounced off the post and back out. So, in the end, no one scored in the overtime, and we went to a shootout.
In the shootout, we switched ends. I was feeling very tired and not well and skated to the other goal right as the ref asked me if I was ready, I said not just yet, then he blew the whistle for the shooter to go ahead. So I felt very happy when I was able to make that first save. Then, our first shooter scored. Their second was the same guy who scored their third goal. I think being very tired may have actually helped because I just played the angles and waited until he put himself in a bad position to shoot and put it wide. Our second shooter then put a shot right into the goalie's pads, which meant if their third shooter missed, we won, if he scored, we kept going. I was feeling very tired and my side was hurting so I was very happy when he came in and tried to shoot to my glove side and I was able to get my glove in the way to stop it for the shootout victory.
Even though I didn't feel well and was very tired with a huge amount of work (shots after the third period when I looked were 24 for us and 52 for them, I didn't see the totals after overtime) it felt really, really good to play so well and be able to do good enough to get two points from a game that we really didn't deserve anything from based on how well we played, especially our defense. But while it's certainly personally gratifying, I'd be fine not to have games like that at all anymore.

ai generated images make me increasingly sad and tired the more i see them in more and more casual contexts. i dont know how to explain, but it just fills the world with a bunch of nothing. no matter how visually stunning the pictures might be, there's nothing behind it for me. no dedication, no emotions, no feelings, no hard work or creativity, nothing i can truly think about, admire or enjoy. i dont think thats how art is supposed to be

I need minors to learn how to lie online again. Your name is Derek, you’re 25 and work in accounting now. Please for your own safety learn how to fucking lie. And if you don’t want to lie, then don’t put your age anywhere. Don’t even say whether you’re a minor or not. It is perfectly easy to avoid adult spaces without signposting that you are doing so because you’re a child.
Stating your age doesn’t protect you this only makes you a target.

i used to be so good at writing strong, thoroughly-researched, thoroughly-edited essays.
as a kid in hs, my teacher literally came up to me, holding my 40 page essay on the intersection of the European witch hunts and capitalism/exploitation/gender roles (it was supposed to be 7 pages...whoops) and went like "this is literally a master's-degree level thesis. what are you doing?? you could literally use this as your final dissertation in a master's program, what the fuck."
NOW??? NOW?? you'd think I'd be oh so skilled. but alas. i can barely piece together two ideas. adhd skill-regression is so so real. im SOBBING
