A analysis of the symbols associated with Claire Redfield

Angels- angels are normally associated with gentleness and purity, and that mostly describes Claire. But in Resident Evil 2, it can be seen as a symbol of guardianship and protection, specifically towards Sherry, but also towards the weak in general. Angels and feathers are also representative of a carefree nature, a theme between both Redfields(and their loss of that nature).

Valkyries- valkyries are associated with strength and a warrior spirit, which explains Claire’s new mindset. She’s running head first into the most dangerous situations possible, trying to find her brother.( only for him to find her first). But they are also associated with death and dying in battle. Which happens to Steve, and who is the one to say goodbye to him? A girl in a Valkyrie jacket.

The color red- red has always been Claire’s color, but Ada also has the color red, but for very different reasons. Ada’s red feels more like the negative aspects of the color. The blood and death and espionage. But Claire’s feels more like the warm and love and passion that comes with the colors’ positive connotation.

Bonus: Prometheus statue, resident evil revelations 2

I thought about this on a whim, but the story of Prometheus, the story that’s referenced in resident evil revelations 2, can be seen as almost mocking the struggles of Claire and the other main characters, they all helped humanity, but all they seem to get because of it is death and pain.
