Just watched the newest Percy Jackson ep and I genuinely liked the way they did the Medusa part and how they’re handling Grover
#Grover my boy#grover underwood#grover#grover pjo#percy jackson#percy jackon and the olympians#pjo#pjo tv series#pjo disney+#semispoilers starting here#like yes he’s fucking tired of these two arguing all the time! he gets to be pissed that they won’t get along!#the consensus song my beloved#I like that we get an actual reaction to his uncle ferdinand being dead cuz like yeah that shit would hurt#the fury (no clue how to spell her name) and medusa each giving annabeth and percy an offer and them denying it was actually a really good#addition in my opinion like it really solidifies their loyalty to not only the quest but to each other#they had the option to get what they truly wanted and they said no and I really liked that#medusa was so pretty and I love how she’s truly our first introduction to the bad side of the gods outside of how percy feels about his dad#also!!! the k on the sneakers!!!!!! luke!!!!!!!!!!#as funny as gabe saying the prophecy was I would’ve liked to hear the oracle say it#I had kinda built up the scene and hearing the raspy dead voice of the oracle say the prophecy would’ve have made an amazing scene#and using gabe for more of a comedic tone kinda dampened the scene for me#but it looked phenomenal and I really can’t wait to see how they do the prophecys in the second and third books#I wanna know who would appear for clarisse and the hunters#I think ares showing up for clarisse and artemis showing up for the hunters would be really interesting#so setting up the whole ‘a different person shows up for everyone’ should be cool#I just can’t get over how it was gabe#i would’ve liked to see that scene but it’s sally or poseidon saying the prophecy for extra impact#I’ll stop nitpicking now it was a really good episode#autism (mads) speaks

Among many others? I like a fair amount of ships with Ferdinand and my indecision has led me to smooshing him into poly a few times? But I guess Bernadetta gets the honors to be drawn here since I got their end card in my first AM run and I love them both very, very much.
(if I had any more energy for FE I’d draw him and Sylvain, too, cause that’s one I don’t mention much but let the horse boys be horse boyfriends)

list of things that made me scream in pjo episode 3
Percy picking grover because he trusts him not to betray him!!! THEY ARE BEST FRIENDS OK
Luke still comes off as so likable and inconspicuous that whole convo he had with percy and the shoes i just
GROVER AND THE CONSENSUS SONG I CANT
annabeth staring at the different flavors of candy in the gas station and not being able to pick and just buying all of them. Thats the annabeth we deserve
ANNABETHS KNIFE APPEARANCE ALERT and a fury is IMMEDIATELY killed
uncle ferdinand foreshadowing……………
When annabeth and percy start arguing in the woods and grover tries to change the subject by talking about his uncle and they both completely ignore him. I LOVE GROVER SO MUCH
the bickering in this episode is ON POINT by the way
like the stuff theyre arguing about makes sense. Yes i would be concerned about those things too
ESPECIALLY since theres such a focus put on trust (esp after percy learns that someone is going to betray him) and percy and annabeth are arguing about stuff theyve lied or havent told each other about???? Sorry that might be skipping ahead a bit but GOD is that the good stuff
i love that they changed how the three of them ended up going into auntie em’s because before it was a little concerning that none of them figured out it was medusa. Plus having a fury outside just adds to the tension a perfect amount i think, because it really traps them in there
all the discussion about the gods and what medusa talks to percy about in the kitchen - YES MAKE ME HATE THEM!! All of this is adding up to lukes motivations making so much sense in the end
ALSO!! Them harkening back to sallys line in the first episode when she tells percy that not all heroes look like heroes and not all monsters look like monsters - they brought it back so perfectly. Percy wanting to trust medusa because of what his mom said, medusa calling Poseidon a monster, ALL OF IT is so good
When theyre down in the basement and grover puts on the shoes and then just fucking. Flies away and disappears into the darkness yelling a little. and annabeth and percy just kind of helplessly watch him go before being like - welp i guess that plans not working. That was peak comedy
them using annabeths hat on medusa and then using it to kill alecto THEY WERE SO SMART FOR THAT!!! Also percy just the invisible severed head was a hilarious concept to me
when percy suggests burying the hat in the ground with the hat on to make sure no one bad finds it and annabeth just!!! Agrees!!! And then grover has to be like no that hats important to her its a gift from her mother!!! And then percys like well we’ll find another solution then. That whole scene was good yes i liked that
also annabeth revealing that grover was her protector too and percy asks about it and grover just changes the subject and doesnt answer. He is the KING of avoidance
also grover finally interrupting annabeth and percy when they start fighting and giving his whole speech about getting along. That wouldve felt a little cheesy and preachy and out of place from anyone else but considering grover tried to get them to sing the consensus song a few hours earlier i fully believe that he would say that
I AM IMPERTINENT
Why the fuck wasnt there a lin manuel maranda jumpscare warning. I couldve used one of those
but actually all the jokes in this episode were so on point. Like percy calling drachmas chuckie cheese tokens. And him arguing about voting on the bus. Anyways
10/10 episode i will be rewatching like eight times before next tuesday.

I like that the context to this is Dorothy voicing these thoughts with a Kotomine Kirei-style room full of half-corpses hooked to who-knows-what behind her, as far as anyone knows.
Tumblr media
So you end up with the most dangerous form that the end justifying the means could take: When there is a belief that said end truly, genuinely fixes everything, and has everyone in the best of interests.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And that’s when Sonny likely understood the horror that is Dorothy: It’d be one thing if Dorothy was like the other Rhine Directors, if she was cunning, manipulative, underhanded, not unlike Ferdinand, Parvis and Muelsyse. That’d be far easier to deal with, but Dorothy? She is fully sincere and transparent about her intent and demeanor. She truthfully believes in the goodness of what she’s doing, and legitimately cannot understand why others would oppose her, given this is for their sake.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And when they shoot at her, she stops the bolts midair with her Arts: Vibration. She can cause hypervibrations strong enough to disintegrate metal, using thin ambient dust and sand as a medium at range. Dorothy merely uses these vibrations to disable people by interfering with their neural signals, but if she really wanted to, she could’ve easily just mulched Silence, Ptilopsis, Elena and the Pioneers into pulp and shredded innards with her Arts. But it’s further proof of how sincere she is that she didn’t: She’s trying to save them. She’s trying to save everyone.
Imagine someone who not only has the dream to destroy all that makes us different and individuals, and melt all that separates, discriminates and differentiates, but also has the power and potential to carry it through. Imagine that this someone also has the best of intentions and thinks this is how utopia is born. She can make it happen. Why shouldn’t she? It’s literally the solution to all.
That is the horror of Dorothy Franks. She is a potential Great Equalizer. A mere two degrees of separation from Death, eliminating all that makes us, us, for the sake of a perfect level playing field. A vision not born out of a Darwinian belief that the fittest should thrive, but rather, a heartfelt belief that everyone, no exceptions, deserves a chance and support. What separates her from the Grim Reaper is that she does not understand the full implications of wielding such a power, she doesn’t comprehend the full ramifications of being able to demolish all that separates and defines, because this is a power that a mortal was meant to never have, no matter how sincere their love and how pure their intent.

My thoughts on PJO episode 3: part 2
Part one:
We have no food so I’m back
-Having Alecto outside the Garden was such a clever way of adding intensity to the scene and answers the question of like why didn’t they just leave?
-I loved the changed to them knowing who Medusa is right away. It fits the characters and the vibe of the story so much better
-MEDUSA Omgs
-She was perfect. Her outfit and voice and presence was just absolutely intimidating while also almost nurturing? I was confused as where I should trust her or not, which is the point.
-the way they changed her story was astonishing and all the better for it. Her devotion to Athena. The parallel to Annabeth and how they both worshiped a god who has never recognized them (besides the cap). Medusa’s blind faith and her hatred towards Poseidon after he used her.
-“I’m a survivor” 😘👌🏻 perfect delivery
-Medusa calling Poseidon a monster and it reminding Percy of what his mother said.
-HIM TRUSTING MEDUSA BECAUSE OF HIS MOTHER
-The parallels between Medusa and Sally. The unity Medusa believes they share.
-“I don’t think she’s like that” The only one who can speak about Annabeth like that is HIM
-The INSTANT Medusa mentions killing Percy’s friends he is out of there. Like most people have pointed out: a great nod to his fatal flaw of loyalty.
-The labyrinth was so freaking cool guys. Like wtf. That was amazing. I kept picturing the scene from the movie and it blew that out of the water (even tho that’s my favorite scene from the movie. I mean come on, the iconic iPod reflection? Shall never be forgotten) But the invisibility cap was really cool too
-Grover flying of into the distance, screaming his head off, and Percy and Annabeth just being like “whelp, new plan”
-THEM WORKING TOGETHER
-Annabeth watching Percy kill Alecto. Again, wasn’t sure exactly what she was feeling when I first watched it but looking back I think she’s finally realizing like, oh, this boy is more capable then I thought. Maybe he can be useful. Maybe he can do this. Maybe I have a crush on- wait no not possible. Eww.
-Them finally reconciling after Grover broke.
-Oh and I love that they made the uncle Ferdinand a more sad, meaningful moment. I mean, that part in the movie was funny, but that wouldn’t have fit the vibe at all and I think it really added to Grover’s character. I wanted to hug him.
-Leah’s expression after Percy says he picked her cause they could never be friends. She was hurt and it broke me.
-THOSE TWO ARE GOING TO FALL IN LOVE
-Percy not realizing Annabeth’s hat is so important. Then immediately giving it back.
-“I am impertinent” This boy is Percy incarnate.
-LIN MANUEL MIRANDA wtf I wasn’t ready. Jump scare bro. Like give a girl a heads up.
I’m sooooo excited for next episode!! I think it’s going to be one of the best yet. This episode was perfect in its changes and implications. It was a new take on what we’ve read and seen before and even tho some people are mad about it, you have to realize that they have to keep it new. They have to adjust and change and ADAPT! I knew what was going to happen but yet I didn’t and it kept it interesting to me. It was a job well done. Again, please comment or reblog with any other takes or add one because I love seeing everyone’s perspectives. Just please remember to be kind!

okay i know you've mentioned/answered this a million times but i would love to get your top recommendations for borgias published books and content.
i haven't really ventured into those selections but i really want to take the leap into that realm and buy/borrow some books and read them..!
(also i'm curious if you read many fanfictions for the borgias, and if so do you have any good recs?)
💞
hi <33! no worries at all! i love being asked questions about everything related to the borgias, as i get very enthusiastic about them. now, let's start with my favorite borgias biographies:
maria bellonci's 'lucrezia borgia' because i'm very obsessed with accuracy and avoiding cliché biased narratives. it's such a solid read really! it also portrays lucrezia in a way that i've always believed she was—a completely misunderstood woman who is a pawn in the power and ambition games of her father and brother. but deep down, she's just a silly, pretty poetry lover who's guilty by association. this book also debunks cesare's supposed "jealousy" towards juan as the shows how much he loves him (based on the letters to each other) and that rodrigo has always loved his children equally, which is a cherry on top lol.
emma lucas's 'lucrezia borgia.' while it's not entirely accurate because it satisfies my beloved (but not accurate) 'lucrezia is a femme fatale and not saintly' narrative (which i love, by the way), i'm fascinated by how it unexpectedly delves deep into her family, especially rodrigo, cesare, and juan. it also provides great anecdotes about the characters so there's that. despite having negative reviews, the biography is actually very well-written and highly entertaining! fuck the gossip!
christopher hibbert's 'the borgias and their enemies.' for some reason, i keep forgetting to recommend this book to my friends. i tend to get easily investedwith any borgia book that focuses on the pope and his children, providing narratives without forcing you to choose what to believe. the author obviously conducted extensive research before publishing it because when reading a biography (not historical fiction), i prefer to avoid biased perspectives that can be heavily misleading. i also appreciate the fact that machiavelli (and other important figures) plays an important role in this biography because i'm always excited about him.
ferdinand gregorovius' 'lucretia borgia according to original documents and correspondence of her day'. it's also a very unbiased excellent piece of history that is full of validated source. and i just adore how the author is pro-lucrezia as well.
samantha morris' 'cesare and lucrezia: brother and sister of history's most vilified family' is also well documented and well researched! while cesare was given more depth than lucrezia, still, lucrezia's character in this biography is more colorful. obviously the most popular narrative for the borgia family is them being incestuous, corrupt and violent, a family to be feared, but the author suggests otherwise as she sets out to prove this is not the full story and she does make a good argument! as she detailed how they've been portrayed by mainstream media as well as detailing what happened to their descendants.
sarah bradford's 'lucrezia borgia.' okay, so this one isn't a favorite of mine, but i'd recommend it to you or anyone who's a huge fan of ceslu. it's written like a love story biography exclusively about them. while i like how she wrote about ceslu, i heavily dislike how she wrote about juan and rodrigo and how she portrayed them based on narratives from the family's enemies. the author also manipulated a letter about the envoy boccaccio, which is supposed to praise both brothers. but instead, the author just one-upped him with cesare by dunking on him, which i personally find lame and intensely inaccurate since juan borgia was pretty much loved by his wife, his family, and his friends based on the retrieved documents and letters. that being said, i do enjoy the ceslu parts, of course, and i believe any fan of showtime's 'the borgias' who ships ceslu would enjoy this book and its fluent writing and can easily ignore the negatively inaccurate narratives about the other members of the family.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
that's all for the biography books! now let's start with historical fiction:
sarah dunant's 'blood and beauty'. one thing about me is that i'm never gonna stop praising this book because it is absolutely my favorite historical fiction book about this extraordinary family! again, i get so invested in any book when the author does extensive research. also, if you're looking for a book about this family that reads like an episode of showtime's 'the borgias,' then this book is your go-to! full of interesting dynamics, and yes, cesare is as cruel and megalomaniacal as history and machiavelli portrayed him, lucrezia as a victim of her father and brother's political ambitions game, and juan as the flawed kid who was eventually sunk deep when he got dragged into his father's ambitions game. while the book doesn't provide a deeper exploration of the characters' psyche, it's more focused on the story by making it very engaging and sheds light on their complex relationships and their rise to power. and every character is highly sympathetic as the author brilliantly humanizes them. in short, it is emotionally intriguing and a must-read for the borgias enjoyers.
mario puzo's 'the family'. you know, i wasn't even surprised a bit that this book's writing and story being groundbreaking because after all, it is written by the author of 'the godfather'. the family is such a compelling book, such tender writing when it comes to lucrezia and cesare. the story becomes intriguing the more you read. i also loved puzo's portrayal of rodrigo as this family man who deeply loves his children yet he uses them as pawns (which is also similar to jeremy irons' portrayal). while i gotta criticize that the characters have no depth and his version of lucrezia as this damsel angel for her father and brother is, uhhh… quite boring. i like her when she's multilayered lol. i also think the way he tried to present cesare and give him the "from zero to hero" trope in order to make him relatable is also lame because cesare's success as a historical figure is because he was calculating and wicked, and definitely not a bitter loser. i mean, i could absolutely ignore the bitterness part, but at least françois arnaud's cesare added so many layers and swag in the characters, therefore you could ignore it. but i can overlook all that when there's an engaging story and great writing, no matter what the characterizations are like. so overall, it's impressive and entertaining, and you will definitely enjoy it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
regarding fanfiction; i'm sorry but i never read any because i feel quite satisfied by all 'the borgias' show canon that we have and all these historical books. i wish i could help with recommending fics :/
thank you very much for the question, and i hope this post answers it. have a great day 💕🫶

My Analysis of the Best Paired Endings in 3H (Part 5: Hubert/Ferdinand)
Tumblr media
Hubert: I've already dedicated my life to Lady Edelgard. To throw my lot in with you is inconceivable. But if I had two lives to give… I might devote one of them to you. Not as master and servant, but as equal partners.
Hubert's earliest memory was being told that he was a servant and he must guard his "master" with his life. As a member of House Vestra, he was also responsible for carrying out House Hresvelg's dirty work from the shadows. He left his carefree innocent childhood days behind long before coming to the monastery.
Hubert said he killed his father for his disloyalty to the emperor, but I suspect his resentment ran much deeper than that. Deep down, he truly did desire to devote his life to someone as an equal, not as a servant. Even if he wasn't consciously aware of it, I think he despised his father for robbing him of that dream.
Tumblr media
Dorothea: Oh, Hubie, I finally get you. You're just another servant suffering from unrequited love for their mistress. Hubert: You completely misunderstand. Unrequited love? Do I really look like the kind of drooling simpleton to have that kind of motivation?
The fact that Hubert was so obsequious to his master was not natural for him. He is an Aries, which is a very masculine fire sign. They actually have a naturally powerful and dominant personality, and they are also known for not being very emotional.
Edelgard is the "obvious" person Hubert would be in love with. Dorothea assumes this as well as Ferdinand in Hopes. But he denied that he was motivated by unrequited love. And you know what? I actually believed him. The way he described Edelgard was idolization, not love. Hubert wanted to crush the nobility he hated, and he admired Edelgard for sharing that goal. He was definitely bonded to her since she was the only person he could trust. But there was a distinct lack of emotional intimacy between the two.
Tumblr media
Edelgard: Well, that's utter nonsense! You can't possibly keep something so fascinating from me! Who is it? Hubert: It is you, Lady Edelgard. Did you ever really doubt?
In their A-Support, Hubert was reluctant to open up and share his feelings with Edelgard, much to her frustration. She even tried to use her power as emperor to get him to confess his secrets, but he wouldn't budge. The dialogue actually changes slightly depending on whether he has already reached A-Support with another girl.
But curiously, even if he has, he will still say that the person he loves is Edelgard. You could always take his declaration at face value. However, I believe that it should not be. The implication was that crafty unreadable servant didn't think the details of his love life were any of her business. He knew she didn't want to drop the subject, so he just lied. He'd rather deal with the awkwardness of her believing that he is a simp than letting her know who he is dating.
Tumblr media
Ferdinand: Please do not compliment me again though. I find it quite unsettling. It is like hearing a snake sing an aria. At least put it in a letter next time. Hubert: In the very unlikely event that there is a next time, I promise to put it in writing.
Even if Hubert doesn't have A-Support with another girl, I still think he was lying to Edelgard in his A-Support. I got the sense that Ferdinand was the one Hubert "canonically" had secret romantic feelings for, regardless of their Support level. The way he describes Ferdinand is so similar to how he described Edelgard in his B-Support with Dorothea. While Hubert hated the nobility, he genuinely admired true nobility and all of the qualities associated with it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hubert: Is it a gift? Perhaps for someone you fancy? Ferdinand: A gift, yes. For you. Hubert: Hm. Who is the unlucky— Did you say for me?! This coffee is a gift for me? Have I heard you correctly?
In Hubert's other A-Supports, the woman is always the one to come onto him, which he does admittedly enjoy. But Hubert actually took the initiative with Ferdinand. If Byleth marries him, he won't even have a ring because he's "never done well with gifts or flattery." But he will compliment Ferdinand and buy him expensive tea?
If this A+ Support is unlocked first, Ferdinand will be drinking Hubert's coffee in his A-Support with Edelgard. It implies that his relationship with Hubert helped him reconcile with his subordinate position to Edelgard.
I loved how the unapologetically evil Hubert developed a crush on the compassionate and conventionally attractive Ferdinand. And I loved how some genuine flattery from Edelgard's #1 fan fed into the flamboyant Ferdie's ego and turned him into a blushing schoolgirl. Hubert is a man who is described as ghoulish inside and out, yet I daresay, there was mutual attraction.
Tumblr media
Hubert: I have an entire laundry list of loathing, but if I had to pick one, it would be reminiscing.
The tagline for FE3H was, "Sweet memories twisted by time's cruel hand". Hubert did not have any particular emotional response to fighting any of his former Black Eagle classmates, with one exception. He became nostalgic when Ferdinand confronted him in Enbarr.
While I think he will settle for an attractive woman who makes the first move, Ferdinand was the one he always fancied. This definitely feels like the "canon" ship for Hubert. Of course, no pairings are truly canon, because of player input. By "canon" I mean the writers favored this pairing the most, similar to Eliwood/Ninian in Blazing Sword.
Tumblr media
Ferdinand: I cannot afford to die now, or my page in the history books will end in a most horrid fashion. "Plagued by the guilt of striking down his father, Ferdinand welcomed the cold embrace of death on the battlefield." Or some such hogwash. Yes, I killed my father-and I would be a liar if I said it did not wound me nearly beyond reckoning. But I will not hate myself for it. It was the correct choice. I did the right thing.
Ferdinand and Hubert had a prominent relationship in Hopes as well. More prominent than any of Hubert's relationships with his potential wives. I can't exactly say Hubert is a good influence on Ferdinand's (or anyone's) morality. With Hubert goading him, Ferdinand beheads his father, while in his paralogue "Retribution" he tried to save him. And an Empire-aligned Ferdie never does let go of his obsession with his historical legacy.
But Ferdinand had a positive impact on Hubert's character development across both games. He criticized Hubert for not thinking for himself and never expressing an opinion of his own. Hubert is the one who wrote the letter to Claude/Seteth to carry on their goal to defeat those who slither in the dark. We can probably assume he did this on his own. In Hopes, Hubert also used his own money to hire Jeralt's Mercenaries to save Ferdinand's life, without consulting Edelgard.
Tumblr media
Hubert & Ferdinand Hubert and Ferdinand became the left and right hands of Emperor Edelgard, competing constantly with each other to see who could be the more helpful. They were opposites—the Minister of the Imperial Household, melancholy and merciless, and the prime minister, bright and compassionate. Still, they brought out the best in each other. As the Empire became orderly and prosperous, the two came to be known as the nation's "Two Jewels," and were remembered fondly for generations to come. Some say their fame made even Emperor Edelgard jealous.
According to Teaspoon Translations, the Japanese ending for Hubert/Edelgard states that, "Even in their retirement, spent just by themselves, there were likely no romantic exchanges until the end." For Hubert/Ferdinand, it states: "Stories say that even the Emperor was envious of their inseparable relationship [lit: relationship in which they are truly open with one another], but the truth remains unclear."
Hubert's intimate relationship with his partner was apparently meant to directly contrast his emotionally closed-off relationship with his master. And Hubert probably displays the most positive development in his ending with Ferdinand. Instead of being feared for his unsavory reputation, he is actually remembered fondly by the public. I suspect all that kinky sex they were having behind Edelgard's back made all the difference.

hii! for your 500 followers event i was wondering if i could request wilbur with coworkers to lovers and fake dating? congrats on 500 <3
It’s kind of like I just did a part two to the previous request for the event… :D Thank you!!
This is the last request for the event, thank you all for sending in the requests! I really enjoyed doing them all <3
Pairing: Cc!Wilbur x Gn!Reader
Coworkers to Lovers - Fake Dating
Tumblr media
“You know, I’m always surprised you still don’t have a special someone.”
You give a tight-lipped smile to Shannon, one of your many cat-lady coworkers. She’s really one to talk, seeing as the closest thing to a boyfriend she has is her cat, Ferdinand.
Really, you’re just trying to go home. Apparently not having a partner to pick you up was a crime in this building.
“I could always set you up with my vet’s son. He’s around your age I think.”
This is the fifth fucking time she’s tried setting you up with the same guy. The first time was nice, just like the first time she bothered you about your dating life. Seven months later? Not so nice.
You didn’t want to be an asshole and make work awkward though, so you just haven’t told her to stop. She’s a cat lady, it shouldn’t bother you so much.
Yet it does.
There’s nobody. Hell, there’s been nobody for years! Your dating life is nonexistent! And for some reason it’s exactly what all your coworkers decide to talk about with you. All of them except Wilbur, thank God.
“No thanks, I-“
“Have a boyfriend.” Wilbur interrupts. A warm weight settles around your shoulders: his stupid trench coat. “Here, I know you forgot your coat.”
You mutely slip it on. It’s definitely his stupid coat, and that was definitely his voice saying those things, so you have to be having a vivid hallucination. There’s no way he just lied and said he was your boyfriend.
“You two are dating?! And you didn’t tell me?!”
Okay, so you’re not hallucinating. You’ve just slipped into an alternate universe.
“We were worried about the fact we work together. Don’t tell, okay?” Wilbur grins, grabbing your hand.
“Oh, I wouldn’t.” Shannon assures you both. “I’m so happy for you two though! Enjoy your walk home!”
“We will. Come on, let’s get you home before it’s too dark out.”
You let Wilbur tug you along, not even remembering to grab your bag until it’s already in Wilbur’s hands. Although you were saved from Shannon, this just didn’t feel real.
He doesn’t let go of your hand until you say something about halfway down the street.
“What the fuck just happened?” You ask.
Wilbur drops your hand but doesn’t return your bag or take back his coat. “I just saved you from Shannon. She’s a bitch sometimes, isn’t she?”
“I mean, yeah, but why’d you pretend to be dating me?”
“To save you.”
He’s acting like it’s the most obvious thing in the world. Like friends pretend to date each other all the time.
“Wil, you realize we have to keep pretending, right? She’ll know if we suddenly break up after telling her. And not to mention we might get in trouble because we work together!”
It seemed perfectly logical that Wilbur just majorly fucked up.
“It’ll be fine. We can fake break up in a few months or something. That way the cat ladies won’t bug either of us about being single. Nobody but the cat ladies have to know. It’ll be fun!”
You sigh, but not being harassed by the cat ladies would be nice. The motion of your rising and falling shoulders makes you remember the coat you still have on.
"Oh, sorry, I still have your coat-"
"Keep it on. Your dumbass will catch a cold."
Hurtful but true, you keep the coat on.
“You know she’s going to tell everyone?” You ask, referring to Shannon.
“Oh absolutely.”
-
"Hey, love. Did you like the flowers?" Wilbur's grinning when he asks it, and you're tempted to tell him no. Just to see what would happen. But he already knows you like the flowers he left on your desk because they were your favorite.
"Of course." You answer instead.
Three months. That's how long you've been pretending to date Wilbur and that's how long he's been doing things like this. From having flowers delivered to your desk to sneaking in your favorite dessert, he's been making you fall in love with him for too long.
How were you meant to keep your feeling platonic when he did things like this? Just seeing the flowers on your desk this morning made your heart leap, knowing they were from him.
Oh, and the nicknames. You nearly died the first time he used them, a casual "darling" slid into his sentence. Now you were too used to hearing them come from his mouth. Fuck, you even liked them!
"Don't forget we're going to dinner tonight. I'll be at your house at eight." He reminds you. From behind him, Shannon gives you a thumbs up.
"I know, I know."
He wouldn't actually be there. This was simply for show, just like all the other things he did. It didn't matter if he kept holding your hand far out of view from the building, or if his little pet names persisted even out of earshot from others. Dating Wilbur was fake.
"You're hovering." You finally say, raising your eyebrows at him.
He gives a sheepish smile. For the first time since you two started... whatever this was, he had to work overtime. You were walking home completely and utterly alone.
"I called you an Uber." Wilbur admits.
"Wil!"
"I know you said you didn't want one! I was just worried about you walking home alone!"
He smiles and you sigh. “Fine, I’ll take advantage of the fact you’ve already paid.”
“Of course you will. Be ready. Eight. Don’t forget.”
“I’m not going to forget!”
At exactly eight o’clock, someone knocks on your door. You’re in lounge clothes, settling down to watch a movie or something for the rest of the night. It's probably the postman or someone normal, so you don't bother to see who it is before opening the door.
Big mistake.
"You forgot." Wilbur deadpans, and you gape at him in surprise.
Not because you forgot about your "date" tonight. No, you definitely remembered it. You just didn't think he'd actually take you on one. After all, your relationship was purely fictional for the office ladies only.
"I didn't forget." You protest. It doesn't matter if it's the truth because he definitely doesn't believe you.
His eyes flicker over your clothes. "Go get dressed. Fancy."
It's only then that you realize what he's wearing. A suit, striking black standing out against the white shirt. He looks better than good, which makes your heart flutter.
"Okay, okay. Come in, I'll try to be fast."
He steps in while you hurry to get changed. Keeping true to your word you just throw on your best clothes, not bothering to style your hair or worry about anything else. Thank God you quite liked your natural hair.
"Wil, could you grab my shoes for me? By the door, the black ones." You call out, slipping on the socks to go with them.
"These ones?" He asks, holding them up when you walk out. His mouth parts slightly at the sight of you. "Wow. You- um, you look good."
"I'd look better if I had more time." You joke.
"Not possible. You looking better, not the time. Not to say you can't look better if you wanted to- I mean, you look great right now-" He keeps backtracking, face steadily getting redder with each word.
"Wilbur?"
"Yeah?"
"Shut up."
"Okay."
He hands you your shoes, and you slip them on. You haven't worn them in what feels like forever: they just sat by your door, collecting dust. In your defense, you haven't exactly had a reason to wear them.
"So why are we going out on a date?" You ask.
"What do you mean? I literally told you I was taking you on one." Wilbur runs a hand through his hair, eyebrows furrowed in confusion. You're also confused here.
"But why? We're fake dating at work."
Understanding dawns on his face, and he suddenly looks sheepish.
"That's kind of why. I- I wanted to take you on a real date. Away from work, so you know it wasn't pretend."
What could you ever say to that? His words seem straightforward, but you're certain there's a trick in them. The date might not be pretend, but his feelings were. That's all that he means, right?
Hope was too dangerous of a thing for you to have now, after all this time.
He must read something in your face, because he's suddenly sweeping his arms wide in a grand gesture. You're too startled to even get a word in before he starts talking, but maybe that's for the better.
"Will you do me the honor of going on this very real date with me? I have very real feelings for you, and a very cowardly heart."
"A very cowardly heart, huh?" You ask, raising your eyebrows.
"I spoke before I thought when I told Shannon we were dating. That night I swore to myself I'd finally ask you out, but I fucked it up and jumped a few steps ahead."
Finally, you laugh. That definitely sounded like a Wilbur thing to do. But most importantly, he said his feelings towards you were real. Romantic feelings. Feelings you've felt for so long that you can't keep them in with his confession.
"I will." You answer.
Now he's the only one confused. "What?"
"I'll go on a date with you. A real one."
He breaks into the biggest grin you've ever seen him wear, and he's shown you a ton of cute animal videos. It's infectious, making you smile right along with him.
"Well then." He holds out his arm, and you take it. "Let's get to this date."

So, I have a lot of problems with the latest (sixth) episode of Percy Jackson and the Olympians. I’m just going to start from the beginning and work my way through the episode to the end.
Firstly, the episode title is “We Take A Zebra to Vegas.” Do we *see* a Zebra? For all of two seconds. That’s it. So much for a plot-relevant episode title. It’s a nitpick, sure, but if you’re going to make something an episode title, it should have SOME relevance to the plot. I understand that that’s the only chapter where we see the Lotus Casino, so it makes sense to use that chapter title as the episode title. But is it *really* that much more effort to add a scene featuring Percy and/or Grover chatting with the Zebra? There’s certainly run time and almost certainly budget for it.
Then we get to the casino itself and, as loathe as I am to admit it, the movie did it better without question. Even the smallest of details — like the look and vibe of the casino are done so much better in the movie. The casino is designed to trap children, so it’s filled with water parks, roller coasters, and all that makes a kid lose their mind. We see that in the movie. In the show, it’s just a regular old casino filled with a bunch of adults of all ages. There’s only like 2 or 3 shots where you really see groups of children. And that’s not even mentioning the exterior architecture of it. It’s a nitpick, but the show version doesn’t even look Greek-inspired. In the movie, it’s basically a knock-off Caesar’s Palace with Greek Columns and everything. It’s great. The giant Lotus Blossom with a roller coaster coming out of the side just… isn’t.
Much like with Medusa, all the suspense was just thrown out the window. Once they enter, Grover does the whole “wait, Percy, did your mom read you the Odyssey?” shtick and the trio figures out it’s the Lotus Eaters that Odysseus faced. Consequently, Percy and Annabeth do not lose themselves in the casino. They stay sane the whole bloody time. What annoys me even more about this is that Percy even says as they enter the casino “what if we just chilled here and played some games for a bit.” It got my hopes up that we’d actually see a competent drug trip scene — I was wrong. Annabeth immediately shuts him down and he’s like “yeah, no, I was joking.”
Anyway, they go to look for Hermes. I’m not sure why the fuck Hermes loves hanging out in this casino. The show’s explanation is that he just likes chilling there and nothing more is said on the matter. It feels weird to be that an Olympian would just be chilling in a casino run by monsters without a care in the world. Whatever.
Once they enter, Annabeth decides Grover should split off so they can cover more ground. Um, hello, if you’re trying to cover more ground why not have EVERYONE split off, not just Grover? So Grover goes off on his own, finds a Satyr that used to know his Uncle Ferdinand and starts talking to him about the Search for Pan. The Satyr is like “oh, yeah, Pan. I think I found him here. Come follow me.” Grover follows and eventually forgets who he is (and ends up playing VR). Sure, great, one of the trio lost it, but that doesn’t account for the other two and we really didn’t need to shoehorn more Pan stuff in just for the sake of getting Grover to split off from Percabeth.
Meanwhile, Percabeth have found Hermes and he takes them aside to chat after they mention they’re friends of Luke’s. There’s a few things here that annoy me. Firstly, Hermes lore dumps all of the trauma that is May Castellan — something which doesn’t appear until the 5th book. We could have — and should have, imo — gotten the backstory behind Luke’s failed quest to the Garden of the Hesperides to steal a Golden Apple. The quest he failed when Landon gave him the scar on his face. The quest *Hermes himself* assigned to him. There’s plenty of resentment for Hermes that comes for that — we didn’t need May Castellan. Not yet.
Turns out, Hermes is just stalling them because he doesn’t want to help. Fucking dick. So, Annabeth goes invisible and steals his car keys — which Hermes absolutely knew about. They rescue Grover after a brief spell of forgetfulness. Annabeth reasons that they didn’t lose it like Grover because they were together and it’s harder to forget when you’re with someone. Sure, great. How do you explain the DiAngelos? I highly doubt that Bianca would willingly let Nico wander off on his own. It just doesn’t make any sense to me.
I really hate that the movie casino somehow managed to include Disco Darrin — the kid from the 70s that triggers Percy realizing something is fucked up — and that the show doesn’t. Darrin really helps reinforce the idea that the casino is full of kids out of time, which helps set up the reveal that the DiAngelos were in the casino for 70ish years and didn’t age at all. I hate that the movie did something better, I really do. But it’s just unavoidable when comparing these two scenes.
The trio then “steal” Hermes’ cab, which just so happens to have a letter addressed to the trio that supposedly tells them a back way into the Underworld. We’ll see how that turns out next episode, but I will be UPSET if we don’t get DOA Recording Studious and all that jazz. As soon as Percy (shoddily) drives the trio out of the parking garage, Hermes’ travel magic transports them to the beach in Santa Monica. That’s the one redeeming thing about this episode for me. That’s actually a really cool application of Hermes’ powers as the God of Travelers.
What I do have a problem with, however, is Percy’s experience in the ocean. Instead of meeting Poseidon, as was promised to us, we meet the Nereid from St. Louis. She tells Percy that “surprise, the summer solstice already happened. Poseidon waited for you as long as you could, but now he has to go marshal his forces for war. Go home now, your quest is done.” Um, what? The summer solstice passing makes no sense to me as a creative decision. The solstice is the reason that all the gods were on Olympus when Percy returned the bolt. You can’t expect the gods to just be chilling on Olympus 24/7 especially when war is about to break out.
Plus, you cannot tell me that Zeus wouldn’t have immediately started fucking shit up. His symbol of power was stolen — allegedly — by Poseidon. He’d want that back ASAP. In the book, it’s stated in no uncertain terms that, if Percy+Co. failed, Zeus and Poseidon would be fucking up the weather. Massive storms and natural disasters everywhere. The sky and the sea would be at war with each other. It would be like Armageddon. There’s 0 sign of that. At all.
Then, before Percy leaves, the Nereid gives him *four* pearls. Not three. Four. This takes away Percy having to sacrifice Sally for the sake of the world (even if she comes back eventually). This change just doesn’t make any sense to me. The explanation in the show is that Poseidon cares about Sally. But that makes 0 sense because there’s been an overarching narrative that All Gods Are Bastards. Additionally, even in this episode, Hermes mentioned that it was Poseidon’s advice to stay away from the lives of demigods/their mortal parents. That it’s awful watching them struggle and feel powerless to stop it. Why does Poseidon suddenly have the power to help Sally now? It just… doesn’t make any sense to me.
Another issue I have with this is that if the Nereid is telling Percy to go back to camp, why is she giving him *four* pearls? Assuming a retcon that the pearls transport the user to CHB, there’s no need for four. If Percy is supposed to return to CHB immediately, he doesn’t go to the Underworld to rescue Sally and therefore does not need a fourth pearl. If that isn’t a plot hole, I don’t know what is.
The episode ends with Percy being like “no, I’m seeing this quest through to the end.” Which is great and all, but the teaser for next episode worries me with how much it includes. We’re going to see Crusty’s Water Bed Palace, the Underworld, AND the fight on the beach with Ares. I don’t know how they’re going to fit that all into like 35 minutes of show time (accounting for the “previously on” segment and credits taking up 5 minutes of the 40 minute runtime). Crusty was the obvious cut from this episode so that it doesn’t feel rushed, but it *wasn’t* cut and that worries me.
And, furthermore, I think Crusty is going to have to be heavily modified for the screen. I see no way Disney allows Percy to go full medieval torture and stretch Crusty to death. Which is disappointing, if I’m being honest. It’s really the first indication of how Percy acts when he’s snapped/in the zone. Stuff like summoning hurricanes while fighting or overwhelming the weather barrier at Camp also falls into this category. That’s a nitpick, sure, but whatever.
Look, I didn’t want to be a hater. And I still don’t. I would love to love this show, but the problem with it is the marketing and the writing. It was marketed by Rick and the critics as a “faithful adaptation.” This is not that. This is a rewrite of the book that’s honestly worse than some fanfics I’ve read. Which says a lot because the PJO fanfic community is not known for having well-written works.
And the trio themselves just aren’t clicking as their book counterparts for the most part. Percy, especially, just doesn’t act like Percy. We’re missing his sarcasm and biting humor. It’s not Walker’s fault — anyone who’s watched The Adam Project” knows he can pull it off. Annabeth has lost most of her character development and had that screen time given to Grover. I was alright with it last episode with Ares, but it just did not work with Augustus this episode. The trio just doesn’t feel like the trio and I don’t think it’s the actors’ faults.
Like I said earlier, Walker can absolutely pull off Persass. The script just isn’t letting him do that and that disappoints me. I watched Leah in Beast and absolutely could see the Annabeth in her, but all of her moments and character traits are either being given to Percy and Grover or cut entirely. Taking away our knowledge from the books, we know the least about Annabeth’s character out of the trio. The script just isn’t making her click in my mind as Annabeth like the script in Beast did. I can’t really say much about Aryan, since I haven’t seen him in other works, but I do like that he’s being elevated above comedic relief. So… that’s a good thing, I guess.
Overall, I have a lot of issues with the show. Especially with this episode. I also have a lot of fears with the direction this show is going for the final two episodes and I’m nervous to see where Rick and the writers take this. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.

Scarlet Blaze Ch 13
Someone should've renamed this "backtracking, the plot."
MAIN STORY
I'm actually excited for this chapter because Ferdinand is the most interesting part of it.
Ok, so TWSITD didn't want to avoid unification (which I'm sure they either want or don't care about), but only caused the ruckus to try and take the Empire over.
She's . . . pink. Why is she pink? (some random Empire general)
Is it wrong to see Ferdinand's looks in the future when I see Aegir? Seems like baldness runs in the family. As long as he avoids that mustache . . .
Can someone remind me, did Edelgard not arrest Aegir or not kill him? Or did he run away.
Aegir kinda twisted. Insisting Ferdinand kills him. That's fucked up.
Oh, kk, he escaped. (Aegir)
This is like a giant teaser of what SB could've been if it stuck to Empire and TWSITD stuff and wasn't "Edelgard backtracks: the conquest 2.0 - the boring as fuck version).
MAP/SIDE BATTLES
Can Edelgard just once have a plan for her government before invading all the other nations and getting a lot of innocent people killed (Dorothea said she's still working out what to replace nobles with)
Hunh, I'm impressed. Not going to lie, but Balthus wasn't making a great impression on me, but he's worried that a man he owes a debt too will fall in battle while fighting alongside the enemy. He actually wants to pay the man back and not this get out of jail free card. I like that.
Ashe asked Shez for help restoring Hrym territory. Ashe wants them to have their lives back. I was a dick and said no though bc I could and found that funny.
Fort Mercius has a convenient sneaky point, bc of course it does. Otherwise we'd have to siege warfare which was boring as fuck in real life.
Of course, only Dorothea cares about the hostages. Ferdinand will magically not let it happen. How? Who knows.
SHEZ & MONICA A
Ugh.
Monica keeps track of how many times Edelgard drinks tea, what she eats, when she eats, all her sighs, etc . . .
She needs a restraining order.
Edelgard did the world a favor when she let TWSITD kill Monica.
SHEZ & DOROTHEA B
Nobles gave Shez a tea party after he helped them out, and he doesn't know what to make of it and can't tell if he likes it.
Dorothea ties that to arguing that commoners should get to enjoy all of life's goods. Shez can counterpoint that they don't miss it if they don't know what they're missing.
Dorothea then talks about her love of singing and laments that only rich people get to hear her sing.
This is actually kind of interesting (if it goes there, but I doubt it). Dorothea wants the commoners to enjoy everything the rich get, yet benefits from an organization that raises the prices so high only the rich gets to enjoy her voice. Dorothea could just as easily go sing in taverns or more accessible places, but she doesn't. And because she doesn't she got wealthy and well connected. So she's actively choosing to participate in and benefit from the system that gatekeeps poor people from enjoying things. I don't hate the player, but it will be cool to see if she has some level of self-awareness about this.
SHEZ & EDELGARD A
They talk about how Shez having the same powers as TWSITD helps him identify TWSITD better than anyone else.
Edelgard credits this with her ability to get rid of them in SB (obviously contrasting to Byleth and CF)
So Edelgard had 2 choices: she could either focus on getting rid of TWSITD and sparing her citizens from their cruelty or start a war and choose the later, lamo. Like, imagine looking at your country and seeing that it's corrupted by an insane death cult running experiments on your own citizens and think "yeah, this is solid foundation to rely on for rebuilding a new world and rule over all the other countries." It's so idiotic. TWSITD really hurts Edelgard's writing and this game really exposes that. Which is funny since they likely got invented to shift blame away from her lol.
Shez says he joined Edelgard because the Empire was rich and she complimented him, unlike other nobles (but pretty sure EVERYONE complimented him because self-insert). So the game's got nothing.
SHEZ & HUBERT A
So many Shez supports back-to-back
Hubert scares/surprises Shez, then questions him about TWSITD.
Hubert's upset that they didn't reach out to Shez as an ally, and I can get mad at his mistrust. Def picking that one.
Hubert owns it at least.
He tries to complement Shez, but I'm able to not believe him, so I don't.
Hubert can sense Arval and is concerned about it. Shez doesn't trust Hubert about Arval.
Does that mean Hubert senses Sothis? Or is this a plot-hole? Or can he only sense TWSITD?
SHEZ & CONSTANCE C
Constance is talking his ear off about restoring House Nuvelle by discovering more magic. And Shez is the test subject of her research lol.
Shez refuses and Constance can't comprehend.
Shez suggests she try to establish herself in battle instead. But Constance turns that down.
I think it's because of her night-day thing. Also, I may have seen this support before? I'm not sure.
MERCEDES & LYSITHEA C
Funny, you can only get this support in SB and neither are Black Eagles.
"I'm not a child!!!" vs mothering everyone
Lysithea trained so hard she collapsed and Mercedes took care of her. Lysithea is horrified to learn that she slept too long.
Mercie backed her cookies, because of course she did. And sweets are Lysithea's secret weakness so . . .
Lysithea assumes Mercie has bad intentions. Why is she always so insufferable?
Mercie's cookies are good. Lysithea acts like a complete brat, demanding Mercie train her right now how to make the cookies.
PETRA & CASPAR A
Ok, this one should be better. I love Mercie, but that support had 0 new things in it.
Petra challenges Caspar's father to a duel. Yeah, way more intense than the first one.
And . . . the asshole won't even show up. Or, I guess Caspar stole is before his dad saw it. Petra's pissed. Rightfully so.
Caspar also assumes Petra would just lose. What an ass.
So Petra says she'll just kill Caspar instead.
She takes him down, but won't strike the killing blow.
Petra's upset she lost control of her emotions.
Petra decides to pull back because she's a queen (in secret) and she can't act on her personal feelings.
She doesn't fully understand why she challenged his father to a duel.
Caspar volunteers to let Petra dump her negative emotions about this on Caspar. Petra's not sure she wants a friendship like that, but says she'll give it thought.
I did like that support, but I wish she was allowed to call out the Empire more.
SHEZ & JERITZA A
Jeritza is hunting a cat that raided the pantry because she was injured.
Last time they talked, Shez assumed Jeritza was talking about a person, not a cat.
Jeritza likes cats because he used to have one. And now he wants to own this one. But she dislikes Jeritza.
HUBERT & BERNADETTA C
Bummed this is their only support. They were cute together in House.
Bernadetta is moving boxes of documents around. They're about bandit activity in the area. Hubert's investigating.
He's annoyed at the army's inability to catch them. Bernadetta assumes he's angry with her, but calms down.
Funniest line is Hubert telling her that her persistence often leads to exactly what she's trying to avoid lol. His VA is so good.
Hubert calls them rats. Like Dimitri did lamo.
Hubert is upset they may go back into hiding. Bernadetta sympathizes with the bandits lol.
It inspires Hubert to set something up that would make them come out.
HUBERT & LYSITHEA A
Isn't this the support chain that told us the Imperial army won't eat their veggies? lamo
Lysithea is enjoying sweets. Hubert offers her coffee. She turns it down because it's not sweet. Hubert baits her into drinking it by implying that drinking coffee means you're not a child.
She doesn't like drinking it black, but Hubert tells her that sweeten it up and she may like it.
Lysithea asks Hubert why he's nice to her since he's mean to everyone else. It's because he has a younger sister that Lysithea reminds him of.
Did he have one in Houses? Or did they just pop up when convenient like Edelgard's siblings?
Hubert doesn't tell anyone about the siblings. I wonder if Edelgard knows.
Because he sees her like a little sister, Lysithea accepts it.
MERCEDES & CASPAR C
Hope this goes like - Murder isn't funny, Caspar. It isn't? No. Because he's awful in this route.
No, he's just asking Mercedes about Jeritza because he keeps defeating Caspar in bouts.
So Caspar still being painfully one-note and boring.
Mercedes says he can beat Jeritza with baking. Caspar is confused. Until Mercedes clarifies that Jeritza sucks at baking, so Caspar can beat him at baking.
Caspar's upset bc that doesn't matter to him.
LINHARDT & CONSTANCE A
Linhardt has to ask her a question, but she's in the sunlight. He wants to experiments on crests. Constance is fine with it.
Until she's inside. Then she's upset.
Linhardt is taking advantage of her dual personality, avoiding confident Constance because she's difficult to work with.
Kinda skeevy, Linhardt.
Constance demands more equality. If she helps Linhardt with his research, then he must help with hers.
He's actually interested until he learns she wants to find ways for eyes to emit a golden light, and loses interest.
FERDINAND & LYSITHEA A
Ferdinand is worried about Lysithea's future, specifically throwing away her nobility.
He tried to understand her thought process. She's irritated with him. Honestly, same, I think that may be my issue with Ferdinand. I find him irritating.
Ferdinand uncovered Lysithea's secret. She's understandably upset and wants him to leave it be.
Ferdinand wants a solution, Lysithea's like do you think I haven't tried? And do-do bird is like "take action!" Like, this seems like things not to tell someone terminally ill 101.
Though, he brings up magical research. So this may be different.
He found the research on her and they could use that as a way to solve her problem.
She wants to help.
DOROTHEA & MONICA A
Dorothea is wounded, and Monica is worried that Dorothea will get scars to damage her skin.
Creepy moment when Dorothea asks Monica how she knows she has scars. So does this confirm that Monica peeps on people?
Dorothea hesitates to kill a child in battle.
So Dorothea cannonly killed children. I wonder how every Edel-stan who used that to smear Dimitri feels, lamo.
I wish Dimitri and Dorothea got a support. Both hate killing, but keep doing it anyways.
Monica asks why Dorothea keeps killing people. Dorothea feels too tied to her position to go back.
Dorothea admits she could've been that child in another life. So she has no right to run away and hide when the children the Empire is slaughtering don't have that option.
I know some people take issue with this side to Dorothea, but this is what makes me love her. She's the only one who realizes the brutality her side is forcing on other people, she just believes in the cause enough to keep doing it. That conflict makes her so interesting, and if Edelgad had a more justified cause or well-written government plan, Dorothea may have been in competition for my fav, but man does Edelgard's flimsy reasoning for war and bare-bones ideas make this conflict flat-line a bit.
Then they spend the rest of the support simiping for Edelgard. So, Monica's entire personality. That was interesting for like 3 seconds. So a new record for a Monica support.
PETRA & RAPHAEL B
You know it's bad when I fully expect Raphael to have deeper thoughts than Monica.
Raphael fails to hunt. Petra isn't surprised.
Raphael thinks being a bear will help him hunt rabbits, and is shocked when she tells him bears don't hunt.
Petra says Brigid people hunt with subtleness. But Fodlan people use hounds for hunting, which might suit Raphael better.
Raphael now thinks being a wolf will help him hunt instead of bear. So, yeah, deeper thoughts than Monica is capable of.
MAIN BATTLE
Time to kill the rebels.
Try to make sure hostages don't die.
Monica and Hubert have a fight over who gets to suck on Edelgard's toes after the battle (not literally, but might as well). The only non-grating part of it was Monica calling Hubert a coffin-dweller. Which, I mean, accurate.
Shez is the only one that remembers poor Ferdinand's going to kill his dad, lol. Ferdinand says he's ready though.
Oh, cut scene. Ferdinand and Hubert teaming up on Aegir. Hubert "let's" Ferdinand give the final blow.
So Ferdinand kills his bad. This game likes people killing their families. And I bet Aegir's death will get more sympathy than the actually innocent people Edelgard and co mow down every chapter.
Ferdinand needs a moment.
Edelgard is like, could you choose how to punish the traitors and choose the next Duke. Shockingly, the title goes to his son. So much for merit-based promotions, lamo.
So do we go back to beating up poor people in Faerghus now?
Caspar's like, fighting traitors serving a death cults sucks because they're from the Empire. Let's go kill the innocent people in the Kingdom instead! Because that's fun!
Edelgard still suspects Shez. The vibes for Shez are so different in Faerghus. No one gives a shit about Shez in SB.
Oh, yeah, I forgot I didn't get Byleth in this route, lamo.
Arval feels like a proud parent of Shez, lamo.

“Who do you keep messaging?” Urano asked him, “You just got off a call with your girlfriend.”
“Oh, just a friend.” Shuu said offhandedly.
“Do I know them?” Urano asked.
Shuu laughed, despite Urano being in a new body, he couldn’t help but remember the old times when they would just sit together and chat and occasionally roast each other where Shuu would roast Urano for her non-existant love life and Urano would roast him for not having as many books as her, “You probably do, but you always have your head in a book to notice so you most likely don’t.”
“Watch your tone.” Urano’s husband, Ferdinand said with a smile that looked friendly but Shuu was sure it was a promise of pain, “Or else the consequences of insulting the Aub of Alexandria will be severe. ”
One glaring thing that had changed about Urano was the type of people she hung out with. The way Ferdinand talked and acted… Shuu wasn’t sure why but it made his very skin prickle like he was being poked by thousands of needles at the same time.
“Ferdinand!” Urano scolded him, “Shuu was just joking!”
“There is a limit to what is considered a joke and what is not.” Ferdinand replied.
Urano simply said nothing, instead, opting to sigh. Another thing that was different from pre-earthquake Urano, sure Urano didn’t really care about what was happening around her other than books, but whenever there was any injustice occurring in front of her eyes and she was not focused on a book, the Urano he knew would give verbal lashings to the perpetrators like there was no tomorrow.
It wasn’t that he was saying he felt fatally threatened by Ferdinand or whatever, it was just… He expected Urano to do more than sigh like a dainty noblewoman whose eyes watered from the fact that her dear lord-husband had to put a ruffian ‘in his place’ for daring to besmirch her ‘good name’ and instead, should have done a bit more to convince her guard dog loving husband that mockingly roasting each other was a fun pastime they used to have in the past. He and Ferdinand weren’t even friends, so it wasn’t like she could say that her husband was simply joking about it, only friends joke with other friends or colleagues joke with other colleagues, he and Ferdinand were neither.
He hadn’t noticed it before but Urano had… Changed… She wasn’t that sweet but absent-minded and hot-blooded friend anymore, she had changed so drastically in her manners and personality… Shuu had difficulty trying to imagine how his Urano could have turned into this …
The earthquake left him with a corpse.
Nekoya brought back a cheap imitation of someone he once knew.

“An ability?”

SOOOO GOOD!! its what originally got me so into bsd and its such a good reread too
(don’t) stop the rain- miniekooki
Akutagawa Ryuunosuke finds himself taking care of the Twain family after an unfortunate turn of events.
And he also finds himself considering Mark Twain as more than just an annoying prick.
(ALTERNATIVE TITLE: the domestication of akutagawa ryuunosuke)
i loveeeeeeeeee this and how it goes about describing the family its sooooooooo good
Haikyuu
as bright as a blackhole; and twice as dense- cereal_whore
“Kageyama’s being bullied,” Yamaguchi grits, expression steeled.
Tsukishima lowers his book quietly, and stares, eyes wide.
“As if he has enough social competence to realise he’s being bullied.”
“Tsukki, please.”
Meant to be 5 times Tsukishima accidentally and very reluctantly saved Kageyama from his own social ineptness, and one time Kageyama does the same for him, but we ran into problems bc OP can't count.
(or: everyone is srsly stressed over kageyamas existence, but kageyama, despite having the common sense of a Five Minute Crafts video, is like those buff himbos within the tsundere category. so he somehow ends up wholly unscathed throughout this shit, while everyone else doesnt)
tldr: kageyama lacks forethought, and everyone but him suffers the consequences of it.
i eat this shit up omg omg its great its funny and it makes my day better read it
but not for spring to well up- tookumade
Miya Brothers
Sellers & Buyers of Antiques & Curiosities
Suna Rintarou squints at the small sign attached to the front door of the brick shopfront.
He wasn’t sure what he’d been expecting. Something flashier? More brass? The Miya brothers could do with a pot plant out the front. The shopfront has one single large window that’s covered by a plain white curtain, so maybe they could open that up and have some of their antiques and such on display so people get an idea of what they buy and sell. Maybe a paint job for the door, which is the most boring brown Suna has ever seen. There is nothing he can say about it—it’s not nice nor ugly, it’s just boring.
Or, maybe Suna could stop giving any more of a damn about this shopfront and just get his appointment over and done with.
After ending a relationship with a fiancé, Suna returns home and tries to heal from heartbreak. Here, he finds friends in the form of the Miya brothers, and learns patience, forgiveness, and what happiness means to him.
this sounds repetitive but…..SOOOOOOOO GOOOOOD i love the emotion and how it deals with sunas ex and like everything about this fic is gold
JJK
“To Chase”- @diggingupgrave
Megumi has never thanked the man who raised him.
god…no words except read it you will not regret it
FE3H
A Fair Day’s Work- featherhearted
“I may have some coffee in the place for you,” said Prime Minister Aegir. “Let me show you how much better I have become at brewing it to your taste.”
“If you insist,” said Minister Vestra but he sounded pleased. To Delarivier, who had literally made it her profession to attune herself to his tone (usually ranging from sort-of-murder-y to extremely-murder-y), Minister Vestra sounded very pleased indeed.
Ferdinand and Hubert's long-suffering aides figure out a way to work fewer hours.
im a whore for outsider povs and this one takes the cake and does laps around my brain when i try and sleep
TMA
a glass essay- fairbanks
Right out of university Jon's run out of time to run from the Web. The only way he knows to escape one domain is to give yourself to another, and he's always been good at being alone.
He really wasn't imagining the Lukas family would take him in at all, let alone arrange him to marry some smarmy ass named Peter Lukas.
yet again something to reread till you memorize every word and still cant get enough
now for authors that i recommend HIGHLY and a fic or two from them:
@blackkatmagic
i recommend everything shes written but my top favorites currently are:
Cor Cordium
Fox dies. He wakes up. And then things start getting weird.
its so so good and kats soooo good at characterization and descriptions and could prob make paint drying interesting
out of night (out of nothing)
It's the duty of the Temple Guard to keep the Sacred Spire, the Force nexus at the heart of the Temple. Feemor's always done his duty gladly, kept it safe, kept the light burning. Order 66 changes everything. Changes him. Changes the Spire, too.
Hevy, Cutup, and Droidbait are just caught in the currents and trying to make the most of their second chances, but an unstable Jedi and new powers don't make anything easier.
the concept is so cool and the execution is even better she could probably sell me air and id go crazy for it
trade your heart for bones to know
A week after an attack that nearly killed him and his son, Jaster Mereel finds Mostross dead on a battlefield. His killer is a Jedi, grievously wounded, who Jaster takes into his care. By Mandalorian tradition, Jon Antilles owes him a life-debt, and Jaster is cunning enough not to let such a thing slip away.
It's meant to be an entirely political arrangement. It doesn't stay that way for long.
not to sound like broken record but god this is fucking fabulous
i totally recommend checking out ALL her works but these were the first ones i thought of out of the ones that are currently updating
@x-authorship-x
she has written sooo many good fics im just going to recommend my favorite series and you can go from there
Eyes
Shisui is way too strong to have his eye taken by Danzo
He's the only one smart enough to master the simplest of techniques to legendary proportions
He was sweet and kind and, despite everything he'd seen and all the things he'd done, he wasn't afraid to hope. To dream for something better.
A series for Shisui
the characters, the plots, the descriptions all add up to something amazing
llamallamaduck
do yourself a favor and check her out, you will not regret it. unfortunately, i will restrain myself to only recommending one fic but DO check the rest out
With no root in the land —(To keep my branches green)
He is not a human and he is not a beast and he is not a creature, but he is. He is a being, then. A being that changes and learns and lives. He thinks his name is Ani.
this is the fic that i first read by llamallamaduck and its a really good introduction to how fucking amazing she is at doing crossovers and writing in general
i hope you enjoy these as much as i have :)

Every time I see fanart of Hob in a gorgeous outfit or gifs of Ferdinand from one of his other shows all I can think about is the domestic control au.
Dream having hob go from green silk tunics with delicate golden embroidery on the shoulders to a pink mini skirt with a black underboob crop top and pure black lacy choker. And unless Hob has something serious to do that day they all have some sort of hidden or overt ‘addition’ to them.
Bejeweled nipple piercings connected by a silver chain to a waistline corset that get pulled at every time he turns or stretches. A cock cage + sounding rod underneath a dress with a slit along his leg and no underwear meaning that he has to be careful not to let anyone get a glimpse of Dreams favorite toy.
I could go on for hours but I have to get ready for work 🥲
-☘️
HNNNHGHHH I'm obsessed with these outfit + toy combos. Thank u so much for bringing back domestic control au, i remain completely insane about it.
One time Dream dresses Hob in a red leather mini skirt and shoves anal beads into his hole. He takes Hob for a walk around the mall like that, and the whole time Hob is in agony/extreme pleasure PLUS he's terrified that the beads will just drop out in front of everyone.
Another time Hob is in little white tennis shorts, which would be cute and simple. But Dream also shoved his cock inside a pussy pocket, which is of course completely visible and bulging out the front of the shorts. Hob is utterly embarrassed but also, it feels really good?
Hob gets a lot of comments about his outfits and at the end of each day he has to tell Dream exactly what people said to him. Reporting back to his dom is honestly one of this favourite things because 1) he loves telling Dream about his day and 2) the humiliation feels so good. Like,,, the old man at the bus stop calling him a whore because he was wearing a v-neck top that more or less showed his nipples? Hot.
I just love this thing of Dream dressing Hob up in gorgeously stylish but also mildly torturous outfits, and then making him talk about it. Yeah <3

my personal reading is that urano was aroace (i mean is there any other logical way to read her??) but since myne is a blend of urano and original myne, she is somewhat different. my headcanon is that she's demiromantic and asexual, but obviously there are a variety of possibilities that would still be supported by the text. i'd love to hear your thoughts on it too!
oooooooooooooo yeah
i mean. given what's plainly said in the books and everything. it's very hard to deny that she's aspec
and this might be from my general lack of awareness but i haven't seen myne ever show romantic attraction in the entire thing, only every familial or platonic. even her stated 'ideal spouse' is her father, she would prefer a family to any sort of romantic relationship.
also, the marriages she's interested in are political marriages (using this as a catch-all term for marriages of convenience rather than love), like wilfried was purely so she could relax, ferdinand was to keep them in the same place (and make research institutes and libraries easier, along with general help with duchy politics), and sigiswald was entirely to protect her family
at least, that's how i read it
your hc is really neat and ties into things really well :)

Here We Are In Heaven
A snippet of my longer story ‘Heaven is Here’ on ao3. This is chapter 10. Linked at the end! This just made me kick my feet and blush so I had to share.
Crowley and Aziraphale finally addressing their relationship.
It had been a few days since Y/N saw Crowley’s greenhouse, and the image of her inside it wouldn’t leave the demon’s mind. He felt that he saw her everywhere. And granted, to an extent he had. She was still interacting with them daily, but she was also a busy woman. Neither of them wanted to force her to change her lifestyle for them. But even when they weren’t speaking, even when she was at her flat and Crowley was dreaming on Aziraphale’s couch while the angel made diligent notes of his newest prophecy book, he saw her.
Crowley wondered if Aziraphale thought about Y/N the same way he did. Was everything this all consuming? Aziraphale certainly was for Crowley. Not all the time, perhaps all consuming wasn’t the right term, for there were times when the demon could go about his life and not think too much about him. But there were others when all he wanted, all he yearned for, was the sweet angel who loved crepes so much he risked his own life for them. The thought made him laugh slightly.
“A penny for your thoughts, my darling?” Aziraphale said into the silence of the night. It really was a wonderful moment they were sharing. Crowley was daydreaming, lounging on the couch and letting his imagination fly into all the most obscure realities. And Aziraphale was studying a book he’d recently acquired, 113 Partially Correct Prophecies for the Year 1922 by Oscar Wilde. It was turning out to be a more satirical book, mocking the different ways in which people were readily able to believe in prophecies, but Aziraphale still found it an excellent read. And he had been alarmingly correct about Franz Ferdinand’s assassination.
“Y/N,” Crowley answered.
Aziraphale didn’t try to fight the smile on his lips as he turned in his seat to look at the demon. “Ah, I see. And what about her has got you laughing?”
“It’snot her, it’sabout her.” He slurred his words slightly. “Do you… do you find yourself always thinking about the people you care for?”
Aziraphale nodded, “yes, I do.”
“Really?”
“I find that it’s not always the way the novels might describe it. It’s not always fiery and passionate, but it’s certainly there. In the subtext of your mind, so to speak.”
Crowley rolled his eyes, “stop being so bloody smart, angel.”
Aziraphale frowned, “you asked me a question, dearest. I was just trying to answer it.”
“I know,” Crowley said, shoving himself up off the couch and going to Aziraphale selection of vinyl. He started to thumb through them, hoping to find something that had lyrics. Of course he appreciated classical music as much as the next immortal fellow, but when your brain just couldn’t stop thinking, sometimes words were what you needed to distract you. Other words to silence the ones up there. Crowley smiled at the Etta James vinyl, he’d quite fancied her music. Thought she had an excellent voice.
“Angel,” Crowley said softly, his expression suddenly serious. He let his fingers trace along the Etta James vinyl, nail scratching along the letters.
“Hmm?”
The demon was not always known for saying exactly what he needed to say, communication could be very difficult for a demon when your entire mode of communication is based on lies. Or Freddie Mercury. But maybe it was the way he kept replaying his angel kissing her, or the way Y/N listened and loved all of his plants with a kind heart, but he knew exactly what he wanted to say. As adorable as Aziraphale was, Crowley was going to get these words out. “We need to do something about Y/N.”
The angel looked confused and his pink lips came in a little pout, “whatever do you mean?”
“She’s not immortal. She’s going to continue to age. I, I, I don’t want to go through this again.”
Aziraphale’s face fell and he removed his spectacles from the tip of his nose. The conversation had turned very quickly, and he couldn’t quite trace Crowley’s train of thought. Bugger, he hadn’t focused on that bit of everything quite yet. He was so excited with getting to know Y/N, getting to love her as her outside of the whole soulmate situation. Though the situation is what brought them together. He sighed, “I don’t know if there is much we can do.”
“C’mon, angel, think. Use that pretty little head of yours and think.” Crowley came to him quickly, imploring for Aziraphale to help him find a way. The angel’s lips parted when he realized Crowley had called him pretty. However, the demon was on a mission. As beautiful as Aziraphale was and as much as he would love to continue telling him that, he knew they couldn’t get distracted. He could still hear her giggle as rose bushes popped up when she said their name. “Angel, think about it. Y/N’s not going to stop aging. She’s going to die. She’s going to die and forget about us, and we might never get to see her again. And even if we do, she’ll die and forget again. It will never end.”
“Well what do you suggest we do, Crowley?” Aziraphale said with a little whine, he felt helpless.
“Miracle?” The demon said halfheartedly, knowing that it might not work but choosing to say it anyway.
“Heaven and Hell will know if we try to miracle her immortality, and they won’t leave us alone.”
Crowley straightened. Despite everything, despite the inner feelings of self hatred and the torment Hell had put him through, Crowley was an optimist. He believed in good, and he believed that things would work out. An apocalypse had been stopped by belief, by imagination. His Bentley had survived. Despite it all, he chose to be optimistic about their future with Y/N, he refused to let it die with her. “We have to try, Aziraphale. You know we do. She deserves it.”
“She does.”
There was a pause. The angel was thinking very deeply about what they could do, if a miracle would even work. Then the soft chords of Etta James’s ‘At Last’ started to play on the record player. Aziraphale hadn’t even seen the demon put it on, but he couldn’t fight the small smile as the music enveloped him. His eyes fluttered shut and he took in a deep breath.
Her voice was rich through the ancient speaker. Crowley and Aziraphale listened with intent.
“At last
My love has come along…”
Aziraphale’s eyes opened when he felt a pair of warm hands settle on his waist, pulling him closely to another body. Crowley let his head fall onto the crook between Aziraphale’s neck and shoulder, letting out a shaky breath. He worried the angel was going to kick him away, and was going to reject him. 6,000 years of pining and yet he didn’t know if a simple dance was too much to ask for. At first the angel didn’t know how to respond, but as Etta James continued and he took in the scent of Crowley, he felt himself melting into the touch. Aziraphale’s arms came up around Crowley’s neck, hands buried in the red hair as the couple swayed back and forth to the song. His nails scratched along his skin and Crowley let out a sigh of relief. Aziraphale rested his head against Crowley’s.
“At last
The skies above are blue
My heart was wrapped in clover
The night I looked at you…”
Crowley remembered one of the first times he’d seen Aziraphale, way back when he’d been an angel. He hadn’t noticed it then, he’d been too caught up in the creation of a galaxy too beautiful to comprehend, but he remembered Aziraphale had looked quite pretty. He looked soft and sweet. Like candy. Crowley couldn’t comprehend that this moment was real, that he was holding good personified and he was his.
It took Crowley three stuttering tries, but he finally managed to get out over the soft chords of the song, “you deserve it, too, Aziraphale. You deserve her, the love, all of it. You deserve eternity with her.”
They both pulled back slightly to look at one another. The angel soaked in the sight of Crowley’s amber eyes, so raw with unexplained emotions. He hadn’t seemed to expect that from him and his eyes darted back and forth, trying to gauge what Crowley was feeling. He seemed to know something the demon wouldn’t dream to express. Aziraphale brought a hand to cup Crowley’s cheek and without thinking, he nuzzled into the angel’s touch. “My darling, you deserve it too. You are deserving of everything.”
A tear slipped down Crowley’s cheek, and Aziraphale wiped it away with the pad of his thumb. The angel spoke softly, almost hiding under the music, but Crowley would have never missed his next words. “I love you dearly, my Crowley.”
Crowley didn’t hesitate this time to make the next move. He rushed forwards and took Aziraphale’s lips with his own. A crescendo to 6,000 years of pining and trying to understand themselves. It was all that Aziraphale had dreamed of and more. The demon moved with a raw passion, taking in the form of the angel’s lips, but he wasn’t demanding. Crowley tasted of whiskey and heat and his lips felt softer than sin. Etta James’s melody cried from behind them and they held each other closer, as though letting go would mean they’d never get to touch again.
“You smiled, you smiled
Oh, and then the spell was cast
And here we are in Heaven
For you are mine … at last.”
