gwaine & merlin's relationship in this fic is so important to me and arthur as captain i think im gonna be sick and . oh my god who's going to be captain when he's injured. 🧍♀️ also the post-season interview gwaine does ... wow. i love u gwain <3 also i need to rewatch 2x13 cuz balinor and merlin's relationship is super important but idk if i've got it down..... they're my beloveds tho
here's some snippets, most from near the start of the story:
Merlin sits on the bench to grab his boots from the floor. As he does so, the phone next to him vibrates. Arthur’s working on pulling his shirt over his head. Merlin picks up his phone. It’s a text from Uther.
“Got a message,” he tells the striker.
Arthur bangs his head against the edge of his cubby. He finishes tugging his shirt on. “Fucking hell, Merlin!” He snatches the phone from Merlin’s hand. “You can’t just go through a man’s notifications.”
“I didn’t!” Merlin argues. “I didn’t read it or nothing. Don’t worry about it.”
“Of course I’m going to fucking worry,” Arthur snaps. “I’m a world famous footballer and you’re a nobody kitman.” “My mum said I’m a brilliant kitman,” Merlin crosses his arms, “so you piss off.”

Sometimes Merlin wants to grab the captain by the arms and shake him, shake him so hard his brain liquifies and spills out his ears, because what’s the use of the organ if he doesn’t use it, but he’s just the kitman, and he hates football, and he hates Camelot FC, and the sun is too fucking bright and hot and he just wants to go home.
Sports mix begins spilling over the lid of the cup and onto Merlin’s hand. Ranulf slips on a slick patch of grass and the angle his ankle turns looks painful. Merlin curses.

He didn’t think Avalon Park would be so empty just because of the break. Only Lance left, off to play for Argentina, and when his name had been announced with little fanfare from Aredian, Merlin had been surprised to see the rest of the guys cheering, with Arthur leading the midfielder’s chant. He’d been less surprised to see, however, the way Arthur’s expression immediately dropped the second he returned to his locker.
He moved to hand the striker a towel, only for Arthur to ignore him. He huffed, eyes narrowing. “Tough luck,” he said.
“Piss off, Merlin,” was the response. “I’m not in the mood.”
“Ah, but I am.” Merlin nudged him again with the towel. “Come on.”
Arthur finally took the towel, but only to stop Merlin from whacking him with it. “Merlin,” the towel drooped pathetically in his hand, and Merlin felt bad for it, “can you please leave me to dress in peace?”
Merlin sighed. “I can, but I’d rather not.” He took a seat on the bench, looking up at Arthur as he changed out of his kit. “You alright, though?”
That gave Arthur pause, as if he didn’t realise Merlin knew how to be a decent person. Fucking ass. “Is this another form of gloating?” he asked.
“I don’t even play. How could I be gloating?”
Arthur hummed, finally pulling his shirt over his head. “Fair point.”
“So?” Merlin kicks his legs out in front of him. “You okay?”
Arthur runs a hand through his hair, then turns to Merlin and does it again. Merlin raises a brow. Arthur sighs. “I’ll see you outside, Merlin.”

The ride to Cavernfield is tense, quiet in a way Merlin has never, ever heard the team before. It leaves him unsettled, shifting in his seat, fingers drumming on the armrests, foot tapping against the floor. The movements earn him more than a few stern looks from Balinor, but even his steely-eyed glare isn’t enough to dissuade Merlin from keeping up the actions. It’s abnormal, and it’s all wrong, and Merlin doesn’t even know the guys that well, not yet at least, and not enough to be the one to lift their spirits. Furthermore, he knows this is less of a derby and more of a battle in a long fought war between the two clubs, but still . . . the team seems like they’re going to their graves rather than to victory.
Only Gwaine seems unbothered, bobbing his head enthusiastically as he listens to something blasting through oversized headphones, the tinny sound leaking out into the bus and only growing louder when he removes them to fix his hair. Merlin wants to make a comment about it — suggest wearing earbuds if he’s so concerned, but it feels wrong to purposely interrupt this silence, and Merlin feels sure that most would only be irritated with him if he chose to break it.
He watches Gwaine pull out his phone and lift it above his head, fingers going into a ‘v’. Oh. Gwaine is still taking selfies when Merlin turns back around, fingers digging into his arm rests.

So fights are rare in the gojo household, you’ve been together so long and been through so much together that it really is like you’re 2 halves of one whole. If an argument does happen, it’s usually Satoru being a dumbass and not thinking or reader being needlessly stubborn. BIG arguments are very very rare, maybe 3 in the 10 years you’ve been together. There’s never been a question of breaking up though, you’re each others ride or die, true soulmates, and everything can be worked though.
But as for the kids,
Megumi just retreats into himself, a side effect of Toji I guess, if he protects himself he can’t be left upset again is what works in his young mind. Holed up in his room, books like a shield, and pricklier than ever. You and gojo are quick to reassure him that even if you guys bicker, he’s safe, you’re not splitting up EVER and nobody is leaving
Tsumiki just tries to radiate pure joy, she figures if she tries make everything perfect there you won’t both leave her and Megumi like her parents did. The chores are all done by the time you’re both awake and there pancakes served with a huge smile and wide, wary eyes from the young girl. Safe to say, that reassurance and a girls day and mandatory after this.
Yuuji doesn’t notice anything is wrong. He’s just happy. Lil sunshine man.
Nobara lives for hearing what happened and shit talking men. She probably gets fed up of the tension and just tells Satoru to apologise to his angel wife.
Yuuta is the most emotionally mature, he knows you guys bicker like any healthy couple. If either of you need to talk, he’s there. He sees the bond you two have, and knows not even a diamond drill could break through that.

xiao had never been the best with words. despite being in a relationship with you for what he considered to be a fairly long time, he still struggled to say things a normal person could so easily speak.
he means to compliment you, to tell you how much he loves you and enumerate all the reasons why, but the affectionate words always seem to get caught up in his throat, never truly being able to get them out. he envies how other people compliment and are able to speak to you so freely and easily, even if they weren’t someone you were particularly close to.
he knows he has to be better for you. he wants to be better at verbally expressing his feelings for you, knowing just how happy it would make you.

so, xiao decides to act on his desire.
he somehow musters the courage to ask you out on a date, knowing how you could use this to unwind and spend some time with him. his cheeks were flaming red. he could barely meet your eyes, and he might have stammered over his words a bit, but with the bright smile you give him, he deemed the embarrassment well worth it.
when he meets with you for the date, he vows to try and grace you with as much compliments as he can manage, no matter how flustered he gets. he swears he's asked zhongli for some basic compliments and he's already had some of them on the tip of his tongue.
but the moment he sees you, his mind goes blank. his mouth is dry and the words he had ready for you disappeared in mere seconds with how stunning you looked.
"wow…" xiao says, his mind unable to grapple and form coherent words. his warm eyes glance at you from head to toe in what you could clearly tell was adoration. "you look amazing…"
your cheeks flare at the sudden compliment. "why thank you, xiao," you reply, a wide smile making its way onto your features.
"is that new?" he asks suddenly, gesturing to your outfit. taken aback by his keen observance you can only nod.
"it is actually. i'm surprised you noticed."
"of course i noticed. i notice everything about you," the adeptus states firmly, cheeks growing as dark as yours at his bold proclamation.
"you're rather wordy today." you chuckle as you both start to walk towards liyue, the back of his hand ever so slightly brushing against your own. "what's up?"
xiao is silent for a few moments. he was never quite good with his feelings either so finding the words to describe how he felt, what his intentions were was proving to be quite the challenge for him.
"nothing." he keeps his eyes forward as you two walk, figure tense. "it's just… the world is lucky to have you. i'm lucky to have you. i don't say things to make it obvious, but i supposed i could try."
xiao didn't need to look at you to sense the beaming smile on your features in response to his words.
he feels himself relax when you intertwine your hands with his. a wave of relief crashes into him when you give his hand a reassuring and gentle squeeze as you two continue to trek along the path leading to the city.
"your effort is all i could ever ask for. it's more than enough for me."

i think it's become my norm to disappear for months at a time and come back (mainly to check on you), but this time i'm so glad i did because i didn't have to worry about the anticipation of your latest fic, and now i get to struggle to put into words how much i absolutely loved it <3
rhi, i want you to know how gifted of a writer you are. to have such a creative thought process is something you should cherish forever, and that's why i never mind the wait between each gap in my time on this app- because i know that, even if its months before i read from you again, i know i have amazing things waiting for me (and i still get to think of some of my older favorites before i return for the new!). in fact, you might be possibly the sole writer i truly truly get excited to read from again each time i delete and redownload tumblr.
your ability to create something so mindblowing from a simple idea or prompt is something i really envy, and i hope you don't ever lose that because it will be a genuine tragedy if that ever happens.
and oh my goodness, your latest fic? I'm genuinely speechless. wither and bleed is (i don't know how many times i've said or thought this for each of your fics, but i'll say it again anyway) one of my new favorites from you. i don't think i have anything new to really contribute to the discussion, especially since im a bit late to the party from what i can tell, but i got the chills. of course that isn't uncommon when i read your stories but i was actually in shambles by the end, and that goes to show how effective you are as a writer considering we as the reader were actually, relative to the fic's length, hardly actually in it.

I just went back to read you Jon’s ILY post again ( it’s that good) and watched the kiss clip. I never noticed how she’s kinda grabbing his head kinda desperately, almost like …forcing him to close the distance. It’s like she’s coming unhinged. (Good acting on EC’s part) Am I not seeing it correctly? It’s a hard scene to watch either way. Jon’s kinda just stiffly standing there like letting it happen but not wanting it.

I completely agree with you. She is holding onto him desperately and something I just noticed now that you brought my attention to it, she moves him into the kiss, even before she grabs at him. She had already initiated it and he doesn't move, but she puts a hand on his shoulder and moves him towards her even more, and then he parts his lips and kisses her back. And he is not passionate in this kiss, she is. You're so right, Nonnie. Like you said, he is stiffly standing there and letting it happen but not really wanting it.
Emilia Clarke was brilliant, I agree, and she really shows just how desperate Dany is becoming. And what kills me even more is that in this scene, the whole grabbing of each other's hands/arms is no longer present. Neither of them are trying to reach the other that way. That's completely out the window. Because Dany knows and can no longer be manipulated, and neither can Jon. He is literally back in Dragonstone, a prisoner once more. His journey from 7x03 has come full circle in this moment. The only difference is Dany is now more dangerous than ever before and he's even more of a threat to her.
And people still think this was a great romance.

1/ Listen. LISTEN. I don’t know why I love that stupid movie so damn much but I love that stupid movie so damn much and I’ve spent a shameful amount of time overanalysing it. Closely observing the protagonists’ body language (for science ahem 👀) (I certainly did not watch Tom for pleasure 😒) and dissecting dialogues, and yes, my conclusion is that when the movie opens, Ben and Frankie are the closest. And yes, I went for the throat 😇 I like pain.
2/ See above. Too… much… time… Will and Frankie are both quiet, reflective, intelligent men. Both carry deep wounds and contain fathomless inner worlds. Frankie can be softer (up until he starts fucking killing people lol), he’s caring, more inclined to levity and humour. He will put everyone else’s needs first. Will has more pride, and a great sense of honour. And he sought treatment where Frankie sought an escape. My baby is definitely the most broken. Oh god I love them.
3/ YAY!!! Adria Arjona got me good and so does Rosario Dawson who’s my Rosie, I just went and wrote two of my biggest crushes in there 😬

i'm always happy to talk abt UtS since i know it's going to take a while for it to be completely written since 13 individual fics usually take a hot sec for me to complete lol especially with the fact UtS is a longer project than my last ones (the bday fics + the flower fics)!! jeonghan will get his moment <3
and to be clear for pretty much anyone who wants to know: my initial intention was to post the inidividual UtS parts in reverse age order (so: starting w dino, ending with cheol) but i'm not 100% married to the idea y'know? the only things im keeping set in stone are the first being dino and the last being. pretty much everyone else can go in whatever order i feel like since they're all pretty self-contained from one another.

hi, kit. i just wanted to say that you absolutely shouldn’t feel bad about posting about this so much; it’s been a really hard day and i think that expressing how hard it’s been on here is really important because it’s so easy to feel alone in this since in general we are alone in this irl. but it’s made me feel less alone that, when i see something that makes me start crying again, i know that we’re all crying together. definelty /parasocial but i’ve felt so much love for this community today and you’ve definitely been a part of that. i’m so sorry that this has been so hard on you but thank you for helping all of us to feel less alone.

I’m glad I could help you feel less alone because I was just on the phone with an irl and I realized just how alone I felt in my grief and how it was making it so much worse. I’m gonna continue posting what feels right until it gets easier because, as you said, it’s so important to not feel alone right now.
