You mentioned in your post that you have a master's degree in writing for stage. Would it be correct to conclude that you enjoy theatre?

And, if so, what are some of your favorite stage productions? You can talk about multiple, I know it's hard to pick just one!

Yes, I studied theatre through undergrad (directing for stage) and postgrad (writing for stage) and had some limited success in my own career. I did get to be on the ground of some incredible work though!

I think the best thing that's on right now is Cabaret. Which is wild to me. I'd never usually recommend a West End production, but a friend of mine did the choreo and it is truly exceptionally good. I walked out thinking oh wow, what a treat that people get to experience this? People that probably would never go to a dance show get this level of movement work. Wow.

Sticking with dance, and with a BG3 theme, I saw Lanre Malaolu (the original Wyll) do his solo show Elephant in the Room in a tiny conference room in 2018 and he blew my mind. A few years after his show Samskara at The Yard Theatre in 2022 reduced me to bits. A serious talent.

Emilia at The Globe Theatre in 2018. Exceptional experience. Please read this play. The final line is everything to me.

I'm a Phoenix Bitch by Bryony Kimmings, again in 2018 (a strong year!) I saw this like 5 times.

Getting to see the premiere of Tender Napalm by Phillip Ridley in 2011. Me and my friend came out literally grabbing at each other's faces all night and quoting the play at each other. Hypnotic.

Seeing that same friend in Cleansed by Sarah Kane at the National Theatre in 2016. He was perfect. I love Sarah Kane, she is a huge influence on me. Her work is so full of hope against hope.

August: Osage County's original production when it came to the National Theatre in 2008. Wildly innovative, intimate, beautifully performed.

Helen McCrory playing Medea at the National Theatre in 2014. You can watch this online I think. What a talent, I miss her every day, I think of all of the performances we will never get to see.

Three Kingdoms by Simon Stephens at the Lyric Hammersmith in 2012 completely changed my writing, my perspective. Unfortunately they adapted the playtext so much that reading it cannot capture it. It was a collab between British playwright Simon Stephens, German director Sebastian Nübling and Estonian designer Ene-Liis Semper and it blew my MIND.

There's probably more but these are the ones that really stand out as me thinking damn, how lucky was I to get to experience this!

Idk if you’re doing it for this purpose at all but “Mario’s” eyes in the body swap art are so intense with the shading, they look so sunken and hollow. I just imagine Bowser is doing absolutely nothing to maintain the health of Mario’s body. They’re gonna swap back and Mario is gonna feel so exhausted and hungry bc Bowser didn’t bother with any of that, he had more important things to do (like be a total creep)

Oh I'm so happy that someone has pointed this out! :D Okay, so here's a direct comparison:

One thing I did right away to give Bowser a more evil gaze was make the pupils a lot smaller. That's where a good portion of the intensity comes from. The size of the pupils and irises always plays a huge part in a character's overall friendliness, and it applies for both extremes.

As for the shadows and wrinkles, they make the white areas of the eyes stand out more, which tends to further accentuate that intensity. Even when he's relaxed, my Bowser indeed has those visible creases, but that's mostly because he squints a lot. He's got that typical "evil glare", if you will! 😆 Though I gotta say I love your interpretation of Bowser also neglecting Mario's body to the point where it shows! 👀 I'm definitely keeping that! 👏
