this one is a little ~1k oneshot sitting in my google docs which involves carmen getting locked inside of one of those like. freezer crates from shipyards that they use to transport food and me making her have stockholm trauma about it.
why i didnt post it? uhhh i dont know i think i was feeling insecure about how much angst i write at the time 💀i'll put a snippet here but if anyone wants to read the full thing i'll reblog with it! just lmk

The door creaked behind her, and she turned her head just in time to see the silhouette of a familiar operative framed in the doorway. Carmen dropped into a defensive stance, her breath hissing out in a cloud in the freezer box. “Tigress,” she greeted. Guard dog. Or, rather, guard cat.
Tigress’s eyes lit with the wicked delight that Carmen had learned to be wary of. “Looking for our little prize, are you? Want me to give you some time to yourself to look?”
Carmen’s brow furrowed. “What?”
Tigress, quick as a flash, stepped back from the door and slammed it. Panic flared with the sudden understanding as Carmen sprang for the door and slammed against it. Pain erupted in her shoulder and she cried out, staring in disbelief at where she used to be able to see the door. It didn’t budge- she heard Tigress cackle outside.
“TIGRESS.” Carmen yelled through the door. Unwillingly she felt panic pitch her voice as her fingers refused to stay on the frozen metal even through her gloves. “TIGRESS!”
Carmen stumbled back and tripped over some ridge in the pitch black container she didn’t remember. She hit the frozen floor hard, and her arms gave out on her. She was shaking. Why was she shaking? Stay calm. Stay calm. Stay calm.
“Red? You good?”
“Tigress locked me inside the freezer box.” Her voice was shaking and she didn’t know why. It was okay. She had Player. This time. And her coat. Shadow-san was on site.
Her heart wouldn’t stop trying to smash her ribs into pieces again. A wave of panic made her stomach turn as the cold and the dark and the trapped sunk into her skin. She was going to die. She was going to die.
“Woah, Red, you’re breathing really hard. Shadow-san’s on his way, he’ll get you out. Did she hurt you?”
“No. No.” Carmen breathed, and she felt herself choke and hardly registered it. “Player, I can’t do this again. I can’t- I can’t.”
Player’s tone shifted into a deeper concern, like the one he’d used when screaming for her to respond as she crashed in the-
“Carmen, hey! You’re okay! What’s going on??”
The room was cold, it was cold. Her coat was a tattered, broken glider, the raw, torn metal edges of the frame digging into her spine. She didn’t know if she couldn’t feel it anymore or if it just wasn’t important enough. Her reality slammed into her again, harder, and the metal of the container sucked the heat from her body.
She couldn’t breathe. The air stabbed her lungs. Her head spun. She was going to die, and she was never going to see Zack or Ivy or Shadow-san again, or Player-
Player’s voice slid into her ear.
“Red, can you hear me? Red?!”

Another of Doe’s hobbies is dueling! He believes it to be the gentlemanly way to settle arguments and definitely not because he has a crush on Feducci. Or that he keeps getting kicked to the Tomb Colonies and that’s all someone can do to keep themselves from being bored. Did I mention it’s not because of Feducci already? Doe would very much like to remind everyone of that fact. The fact that he doesn’t duel because of Feducci.

One of my alters is a debater, and I thought about it for like .2 seconds and thought "Hmm I wonder if Optimus would be a debater..." Hell. No. My alter who's a debater is the most outspoken, extroverted, and hyperactive person you will ever meet in your life. He doesn't have an off button EVER, so that obviously doesn't fit OP...
Omg I'm literally about to take the test like 8 times in the headspace of the squad just so I can figure this out like literally wait hold on-...
YES! omg I was right! Optimus is a ENTJ-A, Commander! With 68% Extraverted, 54% Intuitive, 86% Thinking, 99% Judging... Wow! and 88% Assertive. I feel like this fitted him instantly, it makes 100% sense for him to be a commander. I relied mostly on thinking in the headspace of someone who is extraverted, but also very cold and shut off. He's just not the type to be nice!
I'm VERY curious what Ratchet and CliffJumper will get... Omg...

He's very shy and grumpy, he very much so prefers to work alone, but he's also very understanding to emotions. He's the doctor! He has to be compassionate to a certain degree!

I kinda just played the role of a lover boy who just wants to make everyone happy... CJ is def the golden retriever boyfriend.
Arcee got ISTP-T, Virtuoso! 53% Introverted, 94% Observant, 69% Thinking, 65% Prospecting, and 86% Turbulent. I tried to think about how she's very emotionally driven, and basically just totally depressed with herself and very hard on herself, but also very shut off from the people around her. She's just a little depressed baby :(
IronHide also got ISTP-A, Virtuoso! 90% Introverted, 96% Observant, 96% Thinking, 53% Prospecting, and 99% assertive! WOW! Yeah, he was very easy to do. It didn't take a lot of thinking. He's extremely shut off from anyone and everyone, he does NOT like social interactions, he doesn't care what affects you, and he does what needs to be done for his own sake, not yours.
Jazz got ESTP-A, Entrepreneur! With 89% Extraverted, 77% Observant, 87% Thinking, 68% Prospecting, and 94% Assertive! I don't know a whole lot about this personality type, but reading up on it, it definitely makes sense! He's very goofy, talkative, but also very closed off from his feelings. He doesn't really care most of the time of how something affects other people, if it doesn't benefit him in the long run, why bother?
Mirage got ENFJ-A, Protagonist. With 53% Extraverted, 72% Intuitive, 95% Feeling, 57% Judging, and 76% Assertive! Mirage is very loving and caring, he's happy when you're happy. He seems very carefree on the outside, but he's actually very heavy-hearted. He has very bad depression and often results to drugs and alcohol as an escape.
BumbleBee got ESTJ-A, Executive! With 73% Extraverted, 74% Observant, 54% Thinking, 65% Judging, and 79% Assertive! He's very level-headed, he knows what he likes and he refuses to change that.

What are your favorite genres in reading? Me personally, if a book has a mix of religious trauma, horror, and romance. I'm set 👌
I usually look for vibes rather than genres! I'm actually notoriously really clueless about genre conventions because I read all over the place hfnjff here's some vibes I like!!
Gay, but in a weird way. Gay in the liberation sense. Gay in the way that hates assimilation
Stuff that makes me uncomfortable in a really deep way.
Rhythm and love in the words. I used to like snarky, voice-y prose but now I lean towards very sincere writing with heart, even if it's mean.
Political and religious commentary, but not obvious. I like metaphors. I like when the story is really about something else.
I like interesting pacing and plot structure. I love weird narration styles especially
I like surrealism and magical realism. Weirdness without explanation and all. The less things make sense the better.
I like themes of desire, discomfort with yourself, and longing, unsurprisingly sksksks but also family responsibility, tenderness, immigration, and the aftermath of trauma.
Tbh it's been a while since I've read for, purely, fun!!! Hopefully I have the time to get back into it again :)

I have seen so much heavy angst and light angst with dead Crick. But what about something with alive Crick? He strikes me as an acts of service kind of guy, so what about Crick doing things like holding out his hand to help Temenos over rough terrain or big roots or rocks. Or Crick guarding Temenos even in small fights against a single ratkin. Or even something domestic like trying to keep Temenos well-fed because he gets worried about how dang skinny he looks.

TW depression
Leonidas had been the first to notice Aki’s change in personality in Ishgard. Gone was the feisty, headstrong and chaos loving Aki, and in was… Well, this. The Aki who pushed everyone, including her best friends away. The Aki who snuck off in the night and came back with bruises. The Aki who didn’t even have the energy to be angry, who’s eyebags only grew darker and heavier with each passing night. Distracted and quiet, far from her usual self.
Leonidas hoped he was making it up. That this switch in her personality was in his head and he was simply paranoid. He hoped she would simply be back to her normal self the next day, every day. He did not step in, he did not even ask if she was alright.
What an awful father figure he was- he didn’t even try to help her until the big problems came up.
Perhaps he was too afraid to question her, as if he would make it all real by acknowledging it. A part of him secretly wished that she was some super human, just like the rest of the world wished to believe. That nothing could break her will, nothing could break her.
Her troubles with Estinien forced Leonidas to open his eyes. How they would sneak away together and, on more than one occasion, their kisses turned into punches. Leonidas witnessed a lot of it, having learned stealth from his years of hiding. He felt terrible for seeing what he did, and even moreso for not knowing how to approach it. He wanted to wait until she approached him about it, just like she would have only a few months prior.
He was just about to approach her in her room at the Fortemps manor when he discovered the most worrying part of it all. It was after an argument with Estinien, and from what Leonidas knew, it was a big one. Estinien left Ishgard shortly after, he heard.
He opened her door to see a pitch black room, her clothes and weapons strewn about the place in such a disastrous way that it had seemed like a tornado had come in. She laid on her bed, eyes blankly staring up at the ceiling.
Leonidas recalled a moment before they came to Ishgard. Aki had made an off handed comment about being forced into their coffin, there. That was a bit after her odd behavior began, when her eyes lost their spark. Even her marks upon her skin dimmed…
Leo hadn’t realized their lights weren’t shining at all as she laid on her bed. They used to shine only in their sleep, but now, they were just so… Dead.
Just like the rest of her. It was almost as if she was teaching herself how to die, day by day.
Enough was enough- it was long past time that she got some help.

I do!!! I have three in a concept and sketches state and one that's still a general idea that i haven't drawn yet. :)

The first three are a group of friends: Lilly, Zac (full name Zacharia), and Ly (full name Lyle).
Lilly is a beetal goat, specializes machine and appliance repairs and is crazy talented in metal welding! She's the only decent cook of the three and loves to exercise with Zac. She's also trans and disabled, uses special crutches, and a wheelchair when she needs it (she has Spastic Cerebral Palsy). She's not as out there as Zac is, but will tell you how it is and won't hold back in an argument.
Zac is a band-tail pigeon, an electrical engineer and has the most energy hands down for someone who exudes the most chill vibe. He's a gym nut and loves being outside, but arguably loves his friends the most. He/Him woman King and will always be there for his friends.
Ly is a mountain goat, and is the most pathetic little guy you ever met. He dropped out of collage, which makes him the only one without a degree of the three. Though he is half decent at coding. He's extremely picky about grammer and proper speech, and a little bitchy when he's in a bad mood. Lilly and Zac kind of adopted him into their friend group, and have a soft spot for him despite his crude attitude.
And all three of them dedicate a day out of the week to go dumpster diving, and making weird and cool "stuff" as they refer to their creations as.

1. I dont usually, unless im trying to capture a specific emotion, in which case I'll listen to one song over and over again.
11. Ive been told i write similarly to terry pratchett, but in terms of actual inspiration, i draw a lot thematically from classical works, like the iliad and whatnot. Stylistically im not really sure? I feel like i draw something from alan bradley bc i read a lot of his stuff at a formative age, but i know its been awhile.
27. OH OH OH in my current novel, i have a couple scenes im really really proud of, but the one i want to talk about is this part where my protagonist gets kidnapped (its consensual and also a long story) and his love interest is trying to impress that he deserves to have agency in his life. It feels like a good build up of everything ive been introducing so far.
36. I was doing some rewrites of an earlier scene the last sentence was: "The two sit in companionable silence, listening to the murmur of the crowd downstairs
Writing asks!
OKAY OKAY SO my story is sort of a political drama, and also a romance novel. It takes place in a post-America world, a couple generations removed from a thousand years of war. The war was caused by the arrival of aliens from the ice moon Europa (theyre called Europans by humans and etaema by themselves) (pictured below). Now, the aliens have been living on earth for 1100 years (they live in florida) and america has fractured into 9 nations (not including hawaii and alaska) but theres still conflict with some human nations, and theyre excluded from many international institutions. Theres a romance between one of the head etaema and the son of a dictator (hes a doctor and disabled) and that son is the primary pov character. I LOVE talking about it!!!!!!!

it honestly depends on my adhd at the time but usually i listen to @katierosefun beyond evil spotify playlist, the beyond evil ost, or whatever song i’ve hyper-focused on in that moment!
28. favorite work you wrote this year?
honestly my crashing into something safe fic which was inspired by a tumblr post about if min jeong lived and joowon didn’t go to manyang and instead lived next door to min jeong. it was really nice to think about how things could change for all of them and how their characters might be different. i think i also really liked to write the flirting between joowon and dongsik as well.
29. favorite line/passage you wrote this year?
so it’s from the matchmaking ahjumma’s and halmeoni’s of manyang and it’s 100% because it’s so soft and sweet and joo won gets a little bit of happiness/healing—
Joo Won's pink ears when one of the women mention his looks always spurs on Dong Sik's own teasing, making the man even more flustered. The way they praise Joo Won's kindness and intelligence makes the younger man bow a few more times than normal, and later Dong Sik watches Joo Won smile to himself as he tells Jae Yi the new gossip. Dong Sik gets a stupid smile on his face every time he watches Joo Won become tentatively happier after being showered with continuous affection, and the walls the man had been maintaining slowly begin to disintegrate.

Here's a weirdly specific lorebuilding ask for you. In the world of Automata, are there any foods we would consider strange that are commonplace for them?
Unfortunately the answer to this is no, because while it is set in the future it's only about 60 years from now, so I imagine that some food preparations probably have evolved but I don't think it's enough that you wouldn't recognize them for the most part.
BUT, considering Akashi can't eat, I guess he would find all food strange lol so... If you asked Akashi, he'd probably say "I don't really understand rice" haha
