I would love for Luca to meet a character who he can truly relate to on a personal level due to shared experiences of trauma and perceptions of self. It would amazing if he could look at how this character treats himself, hopes he would stop and see his worth, and then start to realize (from the help of Richard and others) that he treats himself the same way. Will we ever meet another character who shares a very similar background to Luca, even more than Tris, in that he undergoes the same extent of trauma and pain?
he will, but [SPOILERS] not until the fourth book. I know, I know. but I promise he will have so many opportunities to work through his trauma and to meet people who see and value him before then <3

don't really know what prompted this or why you'd assume that bc honestly no, i still feel that way. pressure machine remains my least favorite album and the album i have listened to the least, and if i were seeing tk live this tour i genuinely would Not care if i didn't get a single pm song live. but most people i see gush over it constantly and talk about being so moved by it and i just. feel none of that towards it tbh and it just feels weird for me to feel so apathetic about an album from my favorite band 🤷🏻‍♀️

Art & Attribution Issues In Blaseball: The Card Game. An FAQ covering common misconceptions and concerns.
I am not a visual artist and am not personally being impacted by the card game. But I’ve seen a lot of the same questions (and arguments against criticisms) pop up, and I’ve decided to compile some of the information into one place for the purpose of easily sharing it.
Specific questions regarding artists’ experiences probably shouldn’t go to me! I’m just following along.. A text-only version is available below the cut further down.
Sources:
Goblin’s post comparing Blaseball: TCG player designs with fanmade designs
TGB Reddit AMA (includes Tillman’s original designer, Marn @/charaznablescanontoyota, confirming she was never contacted.)
Mentions of whitewashing concerns from @/hadestigers
DMs with Wayfinder regarding credit for a stolen design and accreditation (via Goblin)
Also, adding here that Gob has posted a couple asks with specific desires and concerns as an artist affected by this.

Art & Attribution Issues In Blaseball: The Card Game. An FAQ covering common misconceptions and concerns.
1. What is Blaseball: TCG?
Blaseball: The Card Game is an upcoming game from Wayfinder, which aims to recreate some of the experiences of Blaseball.com in a card game format. A pledge campaign was launched in early 2022 to fund the project. The game itself was unveiled at PAX Unplugged this month.
2. So... Why are people mad about it?
The current iteration of the card game, from what we've seen, includes recognizable fan favorite players from Blaseball. Some of that art bears significant resemblance to design elements made popular by fandom creators. People working on the game have said they made an effort to avoid this and, when a fanon design was used, asked artists for permission. But as more designs were unveiled, artists have said they continued to see popular fanon ideas without acknowledgement of where it came from.
3. How do you know the ideas came from fanon?
Blaseball doesn't have player designs. All we know about the players from the site itself is coffee preference, blood type, some stats, and the name/team. That means almost everything about the player is created from the ground up by fans. Wayfinder (and The Game Band, who operate Blaseball.com) have confirmed they specifically sought out artists who weren't in the fandom for the game in order to prevent copying. But according to a Reddit AMA with TGB, those artists were then given descriptions of gender, race, and specific features of the players. Those aspects were created by fans, and often a specific fan who cared a lot. They deserve credit for that.
4. Did anyone talk to them about it?
Yes. Extensively. Goblin has spoken at length about efforts to contact Wayfinder privately about accreditation and acknowledging fan artists. They tracked down the original artists for every design being stolen and sent it to Wayfinder, despite not being involved in the game or receiving compensation. Specific examples are available on their Tumblr, @stainedglassgoblin, where they've been speaking about this process.
5. Is it possible it was accidental?
Some of it could be due to coincidence, sure. But the number of similarities has prompted concerns. Goblin has a post with about a dozen examples of overlap between fanon and Blaseball: TCG designs. Again, TGB confirmed during their recent Reddit AMA that card game artists were given specific summaries for characters appearing in the card game. Here are a few:
Nagomi Mcdaniel is an Asian woman who has undergone carcinization and developed crab attributes.
Chorby Short is a frog who plays blaseball.
Specific designs were also used for popular players like Wyatt Quitter, Tillman Henderson, etc.
There are a few issues here:
Carcinization is not implied to change a character's appearance in game. That is a fanmade interpretation. While Nagomi is a name with Asian roots, gender is always up to interpretation with names -- so why does the summary specify? That's fanmade lore, too.
Where on Blaseball.com does it say Chorby Short is a frog? (It doesn't. That's fanmade.)
While creators have confirmed one artist was asked for permission to use their Tillman Henderson design, two other artists also had huge influences on the common design -- and at least one, who initially drew the design, says she was not asked.
6. I preordered the game and now I feel weird. What do I do?
Great news! If your order hasn't shipped yet, you can cancel it. The best way to make clear your disappointment about this issue is to revoke your financial support. Visit the GameFound page for the game to find details on cancellations and refunds.
7. How do I voice my concerns?
Wayfinder Games has a general email listed on their website at [email protected]. There's also a contact form there that you can fill out. I recommend telling them you won't purchase the game, and will be telling others not to purchase it, either. Money goes a long way. And so does public scrutiny! Talk openly about your concerns on social media. Tag them. Put pressure on them, publicly.
8. What are artists asking for?
Credit for their work. It's also worth noting that this is a for-profit game! Wayfinder is making money off of it, while the people who came up with these players' lore aren't being compensated at all. It's a shame that the people who have made art out of genuine love for the game now have to see someone else get paid for it.
9. If people didn't recognize the player designs, they wouldn't buy the game. This is stupid.
I’ve seen this sentiment a few times, and I'm a little tired of it. I understand the need to bring people in and sell the game, but there were plenty of ways to go about it that didn't involve art theft. Here's just a couple:
Make new characters. Seriously. The fans love to make up new players, and this would not have been the business failure you think it would be. It's better than having artists call you out for plagiarism, anyway.
Don't provide character details to the artists you specifically hired because they were unfamiliar with fanon. I really don't understand why they did that. I can't figure it out.
Work with fandom artists from the beginning in order to give them credit for their designs from the start, avoiding this whole debacle. Checking for permission is the bare minimum; providing compensation is even better. This could have been a collaborative thing, instead of leaving fanartists out despite their obvious sway in fandom spaces.
Make a game without character art. This is the boring answer, I guess, but... Blaseball.com doesn't have any pictures of the players! It still has plenty of fans! If the card game were just the same player cards we already know, I'm sure it would have been fine.
10. Is there anything else?
Yeah. I don't have specific examples of this handy, having not seen all the art, but some artists have expressed concerns about the whitewashing of certain players in the current designs. While the designs may riff on art concepts from fandom artists, there are cases where artists say the skintone is lighter or facial features and other details have been scrubbed of their racial/ethnic ties. I didn't want to leave that out. Some cards have been redesigned since they were unveiled. But artists say they had to reach out to Wayfinder with concerns to make that happen, and it resulted in the artists they did hire having to do more work to completely redo cards -- instead of only doing the work once. That's unfair to everyone, and also unnecessary.
11. Stay informed and updated
We've yet to get an official statement from Wayfinder (on Twitter, at least) on this issue since it was brought up. The "blaseball: tcg" tag on Tumblr is full of posts with additional context and information, and Goblin (and other artists!) have made a number of statements regarding their experiences.
Also? Support your fandom artists. Give them a follow.
--
Thanks to Gob and to lofi for reviewing this. Again, if anyone has concerns, additions, or corrections, send them my way.

up to date as of: friday, january 6th, 2023!
what is blaseball? (in exactly 300 words):
blaseball (n.) — absurdist baseball simulator in the form of text play-by-plays, watchable in your browser (blaseball.com) or on the app
! next season begins: 10am est, january 9th (schedule: 1 season every other week)
auto-generated players and games in a league of 24 fictional teams
gameplay mostly follows basic baseball rules (but not entirely)
in addition to games, there are also elections, gods/entities, and plot
elections are our main method of manipulating the game (we vote on various things)
plot happens mostly via site visits from entities (also via official twitters); plot arcs are called eras
developed by the game band (game design team; aka tgb)
beyond the site:
the 24 teams each have individual (and extremely varied) subcultures
best places to interact with other fans: maincord (official discord) (blaseball twitter is also big)
official links: maincord / commissioner twitter (main official twitter) / youtube / other official twitters
LOADS of fan-run stuff, especially the wiki
blaseball wiki = best place to read in-depth (!!!) about blaseball’s history, teams / team cultures, and lore (multidimensional fanon conceptions of teams, players, and the world of blaseball) (note: can be outdated)
other fan-run links: blaseball cares (merch) / the garages (main fan band) / sibr (stats, research, tools, etc)
other things to know:
don’t take it too seriously. many players have funny names. its ok to laugh when bad things happen!
blaseball is FULL of puns / double meanings
no such thing as canon! one player may have many different fan interpretations, all are equally valid no matter their popularity
not every question will have an answer.
HOWEVER: it’s still ALWAYS worth asking! being confused is normal, and often fans can at least point you in the right direction (maincord is usually best for this)
don’t feel overwhelmed! blaseball is a lot. take it at ur own pace, and have fun!

☆*:✨️ WELCOME ✨️:*☆
Tumblr media
Hello, I'm @captainmera and this tumblr blog contains all of the comics and art of the folktale trio I've created.
The work is not canon and not associated with Disney.
Everything is headcanon only, and based on the breadcrumbs the show gave us, as well as personal preference and enjoyment in writing stories.
Please do not take any of my takes on the characters personal, or as an attack on you or the characters.
Yes, I may have missed some clue or am overthinking x, y, z. I don't really care.
You are free to agree or disagree as you wish, but I am not here to engage in drama or fulfil your personal views on the characters or what happened in canon.
I'm here to have fun with my headcanon and share that fun with whomever wants to consume it.
If you have an ask to send me, send it to @captainmera and not to this blog. I'm trying to keep this one clean and easy to navigate. 👍

Hi! I’m new to writing on Tumblr so I’m trying to figure out where to start! I am open to doing any Tom Holland characters! I’m also thinking about doing some Rami Malek and Austin Butler/ Elvis stuff as well! I currently have a series idea I’m working on for Tom, but I plan to write three base fics for anyone I deem a main writing character or if it’s requested and I think I can pull it off! I’m calling it the good, the bad, and the dirty...A fluff fic, an angst fic, and a smut fic for all my faves! (Just because someone isn’t on here doesn’t opt them out of TGB&D!!). I’m open to blurbs, chaos, head cannons, preferences, the works! Just remember that I am one person <3. Feel free to ask any questions and give me some ideas and I’ll do my best with them when I can! Thanks Loves! <3

MY TMBG BOOTLEG PLAN
sooo this idea sparked something cuz i was looking at the bootlegs page on tmbw and i was super interested in this one bootleg called Superfueled Freaksickle (which was basically a misc T sequel) and i thought i could make an assortment of demos and other stuff (like commercials and promos) from the 90s
title: i haven’t thought about it that much, but i think i’ll settle on TMBG Got Big (or TGB for short)
tracks: i’m gonna search for some of my favorite tmbg rarities and see if i can find mp3s of them, as well as dig up some mp3s from my computer files
where will i post these/share these?: i’m gonna make a shared google drive with the bootleg in it so the whole world can access it and i’ll post it on here as well
designs: i’ll make the cover of the bootleg digitally and make it reminiscent of the late 90s and add liner notes with pictures of the johns during the late 90s that i found on the @tmbg2000 blog
will this be circulating on TMBW?: yes, most definitely! i’ll try to ask a friend of mine that uses TMBW to help circulate the bootleg around the wiki and help it get its own page
what eras will be on this?: mostly audio material from the john henry, factory showroom, severe tire damage and long tall weekend days, with a bit of extra material from the 1994-1999 period, as well as some stuff from 1989
what kinds of content will be on this?: live performances, promos, demos/dial-a-song, instrumentals, radio IDs, rarities, all the good stuff

Omgomgomg so I just started reading tgb a few days ago, and I just passed the part where Hunter hears belos in the grey dog, and has the panic attack, and AAAA!! the scene where Willow goes to comfort him when he's curled up under the sink, and HE PULLS HER INTO THE HUG HAD ME IN SHAMBLESSS (´▽`)
Your story is so well written, I can vividly picture and hear every scene in my head as if I were watching it on screen!!
This beautiful story is definitely top-tier toh content, thank you for this masterpiece ❤️
Tumblr media
I really liked that scene too. :') [chapter 12. The grey dog]
Thank you for reading, I'm glad you enjoy my writing..! ;-;/

long fuckin update
wow. hi.
so, uh, updating as i read got away from me because i just started...tearing through books again. i have some backlogged notes that i wanted to make into posts, but a one-two combo of ADHD meds and rediscovering the many, many magics of the library, but particularly the “oh shit, that library book is actually due, i have to read it before that date even if i can renew it because if i dont read it NOW i never will” deadline-imposed executive functioning really knocked me straight into like, 10 books at once.
all that to say: 1) i finished My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry (Fredrich Backman) and it has perhaps become my favorite book of all time. definitely an oomph of a book in the best way. i wanted to write a more thorough post about it, but i was knocked out by COVID, so i went on to read 2) coraline (neil gaiman)! i’d never read it, and i think if i’d read it when i was a bit younger i’d have loved the adventure and suspense of it, but given that i read it a) after i saw the movie in college (adore the movie) b) as a 23 year old, it fell firmly in the category of “i’m glad i’ve read this. i am very glad this book exists. i am also very glad the movie exists, if only because i feel like the soundtrack adds and because coraline should forever have blue hair and a yellow raincoat.” 3) then i read As the Crow Flies (Melanie Gillman), which is a graphic novel about a teen kid at a church retreat, and while the art is stylistically lovely and the story tries to do some interesting things, it felt like it ended at least two chapters too early? There were a lot of unanswered questions despite the nuances, and the kids are supposed to be 13-14 and they read like 15-16yos, in my opinion. It was less than I thought it would be, given how critically acclaimed it is---but I often find anything intersecting religion and queerness in an interesting way seems to receive critical acclaim (and critical ire) if it’s executed decently, because that’s what’s “interesting” now. 4) Then The Graveyard Book (Neil Gaiman) --Another Gaiman I’d never read, and this one I found delightful; it’s slightly episodic as it tells a coming-of-age story, and yet also explores themes of loss in life: loss of community loss of family, change of family dynamic as a type of grief, and loss of home---even if as a temporary displacement---as its own grief, and how grief is in itself a form of longing, and how that longing can’t always be fulfilled with an exact replacement, but how life is yours for the living and as long as you are alive you are in motion and you have potential, and to die is to end that potential. you have completed all the changes you will make in yourself and in the world. i even named a spotify playlist around this theme, and captioned it with a quote from Silas, the main character’s guardian: “face your life; leave no path untaken”---“You're alive, Bod. That means you have infinite potential. You can do anything, make anything, dream anything. If you can change the world, the world will change. Potential. Once you're dead, it's gone. Over. You've made what you've made, dreamed your dream....That potential is finished." 5) by the time I finished TGB I had finally tested negative for COVID and recovered in full, so I was able to pick up Spinning Silver (Naomi Novik) from the library. And oh. Oh my fuck??? I want this book for Christmas. Someone please get me this for Christmas. I saw the first page posted on twitter, which is how I found out about it at all and got hooked in the first place, but to go from that to an incredibly intricate story that balances so many arcs??? I mean, does she do it perfectly? No. There are absolutely some questionable points where I wonder if the plates are going to fall. There are absolutely some dropped threads that, yes, the world is richer for them having been hinted at, but also, given the tightly-woven story with so many threads so carefully developed, dropped, and continued at later points, it is weird to get to the end and go “Wait, but what about...????” My friends and I had a long conversation about SS last night---like, two hours long, and this being a full month and three books on after I finished it (and they read it ages ago), so I’ll spare you the analysis. But, the aspects of magic in the book, the commentary on work as proof of magic and economics as power and opening the door to both self-power and social power and that itself being magic; the political commentary and EVERYTHING going on with Mirnatius and Irina individually and as an arranged, very political marriage; the mythology of the world...yeah. yeah. if there’s anything i would recommend you on this list wholesale not knowing you, it’s Spinning Silver. 6) then, Sensory: Life on the Spectrum (Rebecca Ollerton) had come out, so I worked my way through that---it’s a comic anthology entirely from autistic artists talking about various parts of their experiences. I found it mostly to be geared toward autistic acceptance/narratives surrounding “life sucked. then i got diagnosed with autism/learned autism exists and realized im Not shit, im just Neurodivergent,” which is a fantastic resource to have and i’m very glad it exists, but the comics that stood out to me the most in the anthology were the ones that deviated from that structure. The two most memorable comics in the anthology, to me, was one that used pocket watches (the artist’s special interest) as their central imagery, and one that had circulated around tumblr that discussed neurodivergence and non-negative self-injury using stylized fruit characters. I would mostly recommend this anthology to someone who is new to the autistic community, or to neurotypical people.
7) i hit a bit of a slump after this (because how the fuck do you follow Spinning Silver?), but I was literally like, 85% through a reread of Norse Mythology (Neil Gaiman) via audiobook from a road trip I went on in May, with only about an hour and a half left to listen. So I wrapped that up. I had never listened to the audiobook---the first (and only) time I read Norse Mythology i began it just before my flight home from college......and then I devoured it across my two flights home and two flights back, despite my return flights being at like, 6AM. Hearing it in Neil Gaiman’s voice and cadence definitely brought the stories he was telling to life, whether on the winding back roads of Tennessee or in my living room while I finished an art project for a friend’s very, very belated birthday. 8) the last and latest book I’ve finished is Turtles All the Way Down (John Green), which was good, and then the last two pages absolutely knocked me flat on my ass. it was like, “oh, this is a good YA book about mental health, and there’s nuance without losing sight of the fact that Mental Illness Is Fucking Hard To Live With, and everybody feels 16, and---oh my fuck WHAT” so anyway. no spoilers, because to spoil it would be to ruin your chance to get knocked flat, but Turtles All The Way Down for YA book about living with mental illness of all time.
--- in December, I set a goal for myself to read 12 books in 2022.
...I read eight of the ten books I’ve completed this year since September.
Four of those I read in one (1) month with COVID.
I was prescribed ADHD medication at the end of August.
this isn’t the blog where I yell about all that, but... i cannot imagine how different college could have been for me. how different my life could be.
anyway, meds are an access need.

One Night Only (Day 177)
"One Night Only! The Angel of Hanadaria at the Carbonaro Theater!" The words revolved around a 40-foot kiosk at the mall. Every 90 seconds the entire kiosk would turn purple, pulse, and become a 40-foot hologram of Requiem.
"See? Size 13. I'm sure of it." The captain said this to Esmae. They'd been arguing about Requiem's shoe size.
"I doubt," said Esmae, "that you can judge shoe size from a hologram."
"Do you think she's seen this?" I said. "It's a little frightening."
"We can ask her in a few minutes. There's the juice bar."
"It's more than a juice bar, Captain. It's 'The Galaxies Best Smoothies.' TGBS. See the sign?"
As Requiem sipped her carrot-ginger smoothie, I did my best, one bard to another, to give her inspiration for her performance. "There's a lot riding on tonight," I said. "A lot, but don't let that get in your head. Even if it's not your best performance, even if--"
"Quinn, that's enough inspiration, I think." The captain patted my hand. "You got a great voice, Requiem. Your songs are terrific. It's gonna be a great night. Have you seen the 40-foot hologram?"
Requiem buried her head in her hands. "Seriously?"
"Oh yeah." Cosmic Peanut grinned.
During this exchange, Esmae kept glancing at Requiem's feet, and finally Requiem set down her drink with a thud. "Why are you obsessed with my feet?"
"I was just wondering what size shoe you wear."
"She wears a 13. I told you." This from the captain.
"Absolutely not! I wear a 16 narrow."
"Great." Esmae slipped from her chair. "See you back at the room."
Requiem laid a hand on her arm. "Do not, I mean it, do not buy me shoes. I have more than enough already. But thank you for the thought."
"We got the VR rigs," I said to change the subject.
"That is great news," said Requiem.
"The sales guy, he's going to install them tomorrow. I'll meet him there." I glanced at the captain to make sure I had her approval.
She wasn't looking at me. She was looking at the group of 4 Domari girls who had their faces pressed against the glass of the smoothie place.
Esmae said, "Um, Requiem, I think some of your fans are here."
Our friend gave a quick smile and wave, and the girls jumped with excitement. More people gathered, drawn by the girls excited chatter.
"Let's go out the back," said the captain.
Later at the theater, which was filled with 1,200 excited people, Requiem took one more look in the mirror. On stage we could hear Garty O'Brien doing his introduction. "Our final act is someone very special to me. We all know the tragedy of Hanadaria; we all feel the tragedy of Hanadaria. My parents owe their existence to our Hanadarian friends, so I want everyone to give an extraordinary welcome to our friend, our angel, Requiem!"
With that Requiem took the stage, settled on the stool, and picked up her guitar. The crowd went silent with anticipation.
"I want to sing a classic Hanadarian ballad for you," she said and began to play. The first few notes seemed hesitant to me, as if Requiem's mind were somewhere else, but then she settled into the moment and let the joy and sorrow pour out.
The crowd responded. Thankfully they did not tear the theater apart, like at Sundry Station, but her music touched each soul; that was obvious.
Once the applause had died down, for her second song, Requiem played one of her new songs. Many people hopped and danced along with the beat, but it was obvious that at least some of the people were underwhelmed.
As the last notes died away, Requiem set down her guitar and stood up. "Thank you all for coming tonight. There are hundreds of amazing things you could be doing in this heaven called Dauntari, and you came here."
With that she began to sing a haunting song about wanting to go home. As she began the second chorus, she brushed her shoulder just as Melvin Slime had told her to.
The small decorative wings at her shoulders began to grow, and Requiem began to rise into the air. If she was surprised, it didn't show - she kept singing, singing, singing. The higher the note, the higher she climbed. At the height of the song, her dress, which had been a sparkly midnight blue, suddenly flashed bright, and the silver sequins exploded from the dress and swirled into the audience, becoming constellations. The audience became a galaxy of stars, and Requiem became the moon, sinking slowly to the stage as the stage lights faded to black.
For a moment no one moved; no one breathed. And then a wall of cheers, clapping, and chanting hit Requiem, and she bowed deeply.
Garty was suddenly beside her, on one knee. He kissed her hand, stood, and raised that arm to the sky. The applause somehow doubled in intensity. Requiem smiled, bowed to Garty, and then to the audience, and walked off stage.

Theres been ppl on twt talking about the Blasebalm TCG and how you cant claim you own an interp or that, like, its not YOUR characters in the first place
And honestly my guy
Ok well first of all copyright does exist. You post shit and it IS defacto your intellectual property.
Secondly, I know sometimes we bandy shit around on how not all interps are ours and players arent your OCs. But also. Sometimes they kinda are. They kinda are!
Blaseball player creation does sometimes exist in a spectrum- players where identities kind of came en masse and with barely depth. Players with a lot of depth but built by so many people it is a little confusing to untangle those roots. But there are also designs and interps that are 100% largely from Specific people.
Like, I got some blorbos where I delved into the minutae or tried to do my own approach, but actively riffed of what was already substantially present. But I also have some blorbos where I know I did a lot of the heavy lifting and I know Im the one doing the work and pushing this interp.
I honestly dont know where the answer lies on some spectrum of do whatever with listed credits or scorch earth this bitch. But I think that discussion is now secondary to Wayfinder (and maybe TGB 's) own inability to be clear, transparent and public about their own direction. Like, come on you cant even like. Announce your intentions? Ask if you can use basic info as a prompt or whatever?
Girl literally at any point has wayfinder or blaseball publicly said that. Hey. So. We want to maintain some familiarity with fans and felt that its appropriate to try and maintain the irl diversity fanon has. Please know that we will provide artists with ethnicity guidelines on some players but we will avoid everything else. Or whatever!
