Ghosts - random quirks

Rorke - Can pop his left thumb out of place at-will. Won't hurt him, and is probably related to a time he did in fact dislocate his left thumb when he was younger, but now it's just a neat party trick.

Elias - Weirdly sharp+long canines. He's bitten himself a few times so not entirely harmless, but whatever. Also more neat than weird though some people are freaked out by it.

Merrick - Secret tiny bald patch on the left side of his jaw that's hidden under the rest of his beard a majority of the time. He got a tiny smiley face :) there when he got drunk one night and found a sense of humor to borrow.

Hesh - Can crack like every joint in his body. Fingers, toes, shoulders, his neck, and Logan HATES it. Does it to mess with his poor brother.

Logan - Tip of his tongue has a tiny split near the end so it looks like a sideways 3. It was an accident involving an apple, a pen knife, and something distracting. His dad was not happy about it.

Keegan - Can move his eyes fairly independently of each other as long as it's on the x axis. (So side to side, he can't move them vertically independent.)

Ajax - Can wriggle his ears at-will. (Fun fact, I can do this. So can my older brother.)

Neptune - Very flexible hands. They don't know if it's hyper mobility but their fingers can do some bendy shit not a lot of other's can do. Like tucking their thumbs around to touch the back of their hands.

Kick - If someone asks for a bite of his food he will shove the whole in his mouth at once. This wouldn't be too odd if he hadn't fit an entire apple in his mouth before. On top of whole sandwiches and even one very notable (and messy) bowl of mac and cheese.

COD GHOSTS OC

Callsign: Rapace

Nationality: Italian

Age: 36 (2027)

Her story is still a wip, I have yet to flesh out all the details. She was also born as a joke... that I ended up developing too much!

BACKSTORY

Rapace was born and raised in a lab in Italy, alongside a few others. All of them were human experiments, they were taught to obey the authority and were trained for the Army— making up a top secret faction/task force.

The way they were treated had it's drawback— they constantly argued with eachother and there was an unspoken competition among them. They would go as far as sabotaging eachother during missions, just to get whatever prize their superiors would give them. Which often included some free time and free will: a rare occasion.

Rapace is a shapeshifter. She can take on the shape of any living being as long as they have a brain and a heart. She even has an enhanced healing factor. Such abilities required a lot of studying— That, plus being raised in a lab, brought Rapace to excell in scientific subjects. She never had access to humanistic subjects. (If we want a canon abiding Rapace, she's simply a human experiment, with a shit ton more endurance and plenty scars.)

Eventually, she was rescued by the Task Force STALKER, aka Ghosts. More specifically, Rorke and Merrick. (wip)

As the Italian Government, nor its Army reached out for Rapace, she took matters in her hands and managed to make herself a sort of soldier for hire. The details aren't specified, but she heavily relies on contracts which go into heavy detail, in order to not cause conflicts.

Then, she would be hired by the Ghosts multiple times for aid.

Even though she was trained to obey the authority, the days back in the lab still had an aftermath. She was deemed reckless, careless and selfish.

She pretty much got on everyone's nerves, but she was valuable. They put up with her just for that.

The only ones she truly got along with were Rorke and Merrick— Rorke, becoming a figure to look up to, and Merrick forcing her to go to therapy. (I will write about her relationships in another post.)

When Rorke goes MIA, her whole world crumbles.

Which, surisingly enough, motivates her to actually care about therapy.

Slowly, she changes— tries to follow orders and begins to comply. Becomes friendlier, her taunts turning into harmless teasing. Overall, a better soldier and a better person.

(will write about her role in the codg campaign in another post.)

PERSONALITY

She keeps a lighthearted exterior, a bit flirty at all times— playful and jokes about all things. Some dislike how she seems to not take things seriously, but they'll take that over how obnoxious she used to be.

However, under all that, she can be pretty serious. That's how she's always been, afterall. She's not afraid to speak her mind and to be strict when the situation calls for it.

TRIVIA

She's not immortal— moreover, when she heals from bullet wounds she has to undergo surgery to take them out of her body.

Overall lets others lead the way, because she only knows how to lead the way in a way that benefits her strengths.

Is better at english than she is at italian. She knows all the scientific terms for stuff. She knows sign language and latin, and a bit of spanish, french and german. She can't fluently speak these three.

She hates physical touch. Flinches all the time, the only times she doesn't flinch is when A) it's people she trusts or B) she's fighting

She loves animals and knows way too much about them. Communicates with them well.

Absolutely loathes Italy. Only goes there if the missions requires her to.

She's not good at arts, as they are humanistic subjects. She can try to understand them (poetry, paintings, music...) but she'll never fully understand them. It upsets her, because she knows they're important.

She has lots of freckles. She doesn't use labels, but she isn't cis or het. Pretty much doesn't care.

Struck by the sudden mental image of Logan calling Keegan "Kitten" completely unironically. Is he kidding/doing it to mess with people? Yes. But he also uses it like he would his actual name. Keegan was so mad the first few times (not really) but he got used to it/gave up and just accepted that Logan is going to bully him relentlessly with the name.

I also think he'd only speak when he's trying to get people to look at him (so he can then switch to ASL) so it'd be probably one word lines like "Hey," "Listen!" or just peoples names... What I'm saying here is; Logan would just go "Kitten." at Keegan in his lil raspy "I never speak" voice and it would cause a shock wave that concusses everyone in a five mile radius. And then when Keegan snaps to attention there's another shock wave that physically annihilates every GI in a TEN mile radius. (Logan would just chuck something at him/tap somewhere on him because they're close, so when he speaks to get Keegan's attention he knows it's important and jumps to see what's up.)

Also because deaf/non vocal people give people sign names (So they don't gotta finger-spell it out every time.) I'd like to submit the idea to the public that Logan's sign for Keegan is also Kitten.

I think what would be funniest is if Keegan learns what Logan is signing at him as just "Oh that's the sign that means my name! :)" without knowing it's Kitten. He doesn't grasp enough ASL to realize it's two signs tied together. He is gleefully oblivious. (He'll learn eventually and will realize again he is never gonna hear the end of it from the blonde ever.)

Hesh however, very much does know/is aware what it means, and would laugh his ass off the first time he asks what Logan is calling Keegan and the fucker signs "Kitten" in response. He'll admit, it works because Keegan is always aloof and hissy when he's mad (While also being snuggly and affectionate to his loved ones,) but he was not prepared.

How to sign kitten in ASL: Sign for "small" + Sign for "cat" = Sign for "small cat"/Sign for "kitten" Small - Hands apart, facing each other, move them closer. Like you're squishing something. (But they don't touch!) Cat - Pinch air with index and thumb near nose/mouth and drag away from face. Like you're pinching or plucking a whisker. Other fingers should be relaxed and don't join the pinching motion. Just do em one after the other. Very intuitive signs when you think about it.

(Disclaimer: By no means do I know a ton of ASL, I ain't an expert. I'm just trying to learn it and this is what I learned by looking it up. I'm also aware it's supposed to be someone in the deaf community, or someone who is deaf, or someone who uses ASL as their primary language, who gives a name. Given that Logan falls under the last one by being non vocal and using ASL as his primary to communicate (and also experiences no self autonomy by virtue of being a fictional character), I picked the name. It's also meant to be silly.)

Random head canon: Riley was taught how to close doors, but given he's a dog he accidentally puts too much weight into it and tends to slam them shut. Not a problem, they just make sure their doors have like quiet close stoppers on them to muffle the noise.

Given that they're moving around kinda frequently though, I don't think they'd have time to modify the doors like that every time. It's not life or death so it falls off the priority list pretty quick with everything else going on.

Cue a silly scenario where someone had Riley close a door, it slams because they're somewhere new, and either Merrick or Elias (or whoever the adult of the day is) comes around like "WHO is slamming doors!?" because hey what the fuck you doing disturbing everyone's peace for?

And there is Riley. Tail wagging. So proud of himself for helping out. The motherfucker who be slamming doors where they don't pay rent.

I wonder who the 15th ghost was. We know that 14 of the survivors stayed to finish the fight, but that they made 1 take the civilians to safety. I've always wondered who it is.

Was it Keegan or Alex? They were the youngest. It would make sense to get them out of doge. Maybe it was Grim or Torch, someone we know next to nothing about.

In all honesty, it's probably someone we didn't meet and probably never will

I agree that it's likely someone we never see in game tbh. What I think could be the most interesting about Fifteen is how their experience differs from the rest of the Ghosts. For the first three days, yes they're all in the same shit, but then Fifteen gets sent off to guide the civs to safety, and the others stay behind in a last stand kinda deal. I have no doubt in my mind that the Ghosties thought they would die that night, but Mr. 15 was kinda offered a chance to escape, and I think that's very interesting.

You know what I just realized?

If Logan and Hesh are good enough to be Ghosts... then they absolutely are good enough to have the same level of respect and reputation the Ghosts have.

Like just imagine it lmao. Logan and Hesh: Popular kids. Even without people knowing Elias is the captain of the Ghosts (If he kept it from Logan and David then he had to be keeping it from pretty much everyone.) they'd get respect and admiration for sheer skill alone. The Ghosts obviously don't snatch up random GI's because before they're even in the team Hesh admits Elias tested him and Logan a lot, not that he knew why.

But I also think it'd be cute/sweet if Hesh and Logan were kinda shy of that kinda attention. They'd like it if people knew they were skilled, but it would be a bit embarrassing that half the tales told around chow is of your feats but with every detail exaggerated to gross proportions. (Rumor mill always does that.) Yes they are good, not that good.

Every time they hear about it they gotta go "Okay, yes we did that, but not exactly like that..." but it fails to work 80% of the time.

Riley has the wildest tales (hah) to his name and the boys never want to correct those because it's decent fun to hear about your dog being so smart he can bark Morse code.

Here's a goofy idea

After the beach Hesh gets put on leave for a bit (Cus he got shot, got the piss beat out of him, got shot again (by Logan this time, through Rorke.) almost drowned, got kicked in the face, and was overall mentally traumatized and in need of a good vacation.) and given he now suddenly has all this freetime he's kinda lost as to what he should be doing.

He can spend more time with Riley (Put on leave as well due to what happened in Vegas.), and he has doctors appointments, and the Ghosts bother him, but he has a lot of time and not enough things to do.

Then he finds a kitten.

Cat distribution system hits him with the the saddest, scrawniest, little pastel orange kitten, and while Hesh has Riley, he absolutely cannot turn his back on the cute little thing. He's an animal lover, and baby animals are the cutest.

Does that mean he has to keep it? (Rather than just making sure the little thing gets somewhere it can be looked after, like a shelter, or foster home.) No. Does he immediately start planning where to put a litter box and cat tree? Yes.

Not like he has to be anywhere anyways, so he decides to look after the thing. He's worried for a bit if Riley and it will get along, but he does the whole acclimation process to introduce them and aside the kitten deeming Riley's tail it's nemesis they get along. (Riley seems to like the kitten actually, and will just let it and his tail fight.)

Hesh is very invested and very occupied by this kitten, and probably a lot happier than he would be without it. It's silly, but since the kitten is kinda blonde looking... he names it Logan.

Of course, this confuses the shit out of the Ghosts when they try to meet up with him only for Hesh to go "I can't leave Logan home alone. He'll get stuck in the lamp again." before he explains that it's just a cat, he didn't somehow find Logan without them and without telling them. (And that Logan isn't getting stuck in lamp shades...)

What would Logan think about it if he knew? He'd probably laugh his ass of, and make fun of Hesh for being clingy.

Elias - Paladin. The oath he follows is one to protect his family, and he'll live and die by that. Fine by him. Good cause to die for.

Hesh - Monk. He punches a lot. He's good at it. What more needs to be said?

Logan - Sorcerer. "I cast fireball!" You nerd. I cast "Left Calf Charley Horse." and I dont even have to say it. It just happens. Get fucked.

Keegan - Ranger. Just leave him alone in the woods please. With Ajax of course.

Ajax - Druid. Also in the woods! With Keegan! Living his best Disney princess life.

Merrick - Barbarian. That rage power go wild in team meetings. Has put a table into the ceiling flipping it.

Kick - Bard. You should have seen this one coming tbh. *Buddy holly riff*

Neptune - Cleric. Someone has to keep the team in one piece.

Rorke - Fighter. You hand any weapon to this man and he'll figure out some way to use it. Very effectively. Your safety is not guaranteed.

Bonus: Grim -Rogue. Torch - Warlock. Mrs. Walker - Wizard.

Rorke - Great Dane. Fun fact, pretty sure he's the tallest of the bunch. I could have said smthn like a xolo but the bald jokes get stale eventually. Beating a dead horse. A bald horse.

Elias - German Shepherd. Should not be surprised here. Or maybe you are... but Sheps are really good family dogs on top of being good working dogs. High energy and protective. Good outdoors dog.

Hesh - Beagle. You know why Beagles get used a lot in animal testing? Because they're very forgiving. Also loud, they like to bark/bray at things, but at the same time with the goofy adorableness they're pretty intelligent.

Logan - Golden Retriever. Call me predictable if you'd like, but it goes beyond the stereotypical image of a blonde haired dog. Goldens are also known to be very loving and gentle, hence the whole "golden retriever boyfriend" thing. Also very obedient!

Merrick - Rottweiler. LOOK at them okay, they seem so grumpy but these dogs are also strong and loyal. Just like Merrick. Also rottie growls are so funny, they're saying "I love you" but it's terrifying sounding. 100% Merrick.

Keegan - Doberman Pincer. So emo... so chic... intelligent brave and loyal! Literally him. Argue with the wall.

Ajax - English Cocker Spaniel. They're known for being cheerful and playful, and while we didn't see a lot of Ajax I adore the idea that he's outwardly opposite to Keegan. (Who's kinda quiet and serious.)

Kick - Dachshund. Small, sausage dogs, and goofy looking. But not to be underestimated, these dogs are actually very courageous and fun fact: They're a hunting breed. They also make good watchdogs.

Neptune - Newfoundland. Water dogs! Also very big boys, though that plays less into why I think they're a Neptune dog. Also known to be calm + gentle giants.

I kinda have a feeling that Keegan met Elias and Rorke for the first time and went.''WOW! Two whole adults that treat me decently! They don't even yell at me for small mistakes, or deprive me of food when i dont live up to impossible expectations, and they don't hit me for whatever reason they just pulled out of their ass! Oh boy, I hit the jackpot!'' And then he just firmly attached himself to their sides.

"Holy shit, two cakes!" but instead it's "Holy shit, two dads!"

On top of not being dickweeds to him, Elias and Rorke actually reward him for good behaviors. Ex: It's not just expected of him to always be cleaning everything up, it's a good thing and something he gets rewarded/compensated for.

I can see Rorke memorizing everyone's favorite candy and rewarding them with funsized varieties of it like they're dogs. He says so to Elias and never mentions it again after being smacked up for it, but he thinks it.

Pfff, they're doing their best to get him to laugh/smile and he's all grim, which makes them worried because that means shit is real fucked or about to be real fucked.

Fun fact in return to that: There is a handle at the back of some vests (I forget if it's in general for most equipment or a specific vest.) called "The bitch handle" and it's mostly used for grabbing your pals and hauling them around. For whatever that reason may be, ie they fall like a dunce when you're running from death or they're wounded and you gotta move em. Just grab the bitch handle and WHEEEEE! Gi's come with a convenient carry handle!

So the answer is yes: He's absolutely just yoinked one or even both of his boys up. (Even the other Ghosts. Imagine him hauling Keegan around like a book bag/purse.)

You know those little dino grow capsule things? Put em in water and the sponge grows and boom; Dinosaur!

Hesh has absolutely eaten one of them before. To be fair, he was a child unsupervised for approximately .5 seconds, so like really we can blame Elias for this I'm sure.

Anyways, Elias absolutely told the Ghosts about it, so as soon as they even see the bros in person they're making fun of him for it. Absolutely Kick would just hand him a little pack of the things "In case you feel peckish." and Hesh understands in that moment that he is never gonna live that down + that he's been adopted before he's even gotten the chance to say hi to a majority of the fuckers.

(Logan is hiding laughter because he knows Hesh will be so fuckin betrayed but at the same time it's hilarious to him.)
