Back again? Oh, right, how silly of me — I forgot the scone to go with your tea. What do you prefer: chocolate chip, berry, or classic?
(And I'll be happy to refill your tea mug if that's empty.)

May I ask one more Writer Asks question? If so, #36 (the "write what you know' one).
Ooh Yeah! I still had the questions saved just in case!
36. They say to Write What You Know. Setting aside for a moment the fact that this is terrible advice...what do you Know?
There’s a post going around that points how how it’s not actually terrible advice
I agree that the advice is usually oversimplified to the point of uselessness, and I do think Tolkien is a great example but my reasoning is more that he wrote what he cared about. That said, I think it’s a good post.
But what do I know?
I don’t know what I know enough to know if it’s even worth writing about. Lessee here…
I know something about herbs, and bits and pieces of history that interest me. Not all of it medieval history (I know people have always been people no matter what year it is). I’ve experienced how even something terrible that’s happened can be the way God brings about something else that’s very good. I know choosing kindness is sometimes easier than at other times, but no matter how hard it is it’s always worth it —even if the fruits aren’t showing up right away. I know that sometimes a hard task in front of us is God preparing us for a harder one but he doesn’t leave us to face it alone.
None of this is something that only I know, but hopefully the way I put it together will be worth it anyway.

Hi! I just want you to know that I REALLY liked the option to add extra customizable tabs to the blog dash, especially the "Blog Subs" tab for blogs I'm signed up for notifications from. As someone who's been super busy lately, it was nice to be able to select certain "I really want to make sure I don't miss anything" blogs and just scroll through the updates from them really quickly without getting lost on my main dash. Please make this a normal feature!
Answer: Hey there, @taleweaver-ramblings!
We’re glad you asked! As it happens, we are still actually working on these, and currently deciding which tabs we want to maintain and move to proper full features—rather than just Labs settings.
Separately, in the Labs division, we are also working on a possible new feature called Collections, which could, we hope, evolve into more robust customizable feeds. A little like custom tabs on the dashboard. This is very much a work in progress right now and in its early stages, so hold tight for updates on this one. We can’t wait to share more when we have it!
Thanks for your question, and have a good day.
Love,
—Cyle

OC Mundane Tag Game
Thanks for the tag @christian-latte-anon
Rules: Pick an OC you'd like to talk about and answer the questions for them! Then tag ten people, or as many as you can. 'Underdeveloped character I adopted' is fine, too! Absolutely no pressure to play, though
Also, if some of it can't apply to your OCs, just answer what would be the answer-- like if they're in a historical setting, they likely can't watch movies, but what is a movie they'd like?
(Also, most people have many ocs, so feel free to retag people and answer as many times as you get tagged! Or get really wild and just answer for as many ocs as you'd like! :D)
Questions:
What is their favorite movie? Thaiv's favorite movie is probably The Prince of Egypt!! He loves a good musical. Also, Tall Girl. And A Week Away
What is their favorite season? I think summer, though he ADORES Christmas time, too!!
What do they find annoying? He's not easily annoyed, honestly. Hookup culture does annoy him, for sure
How would they like to spend their Christmas or equivalent holiday? With his family and friends, eating delicious food (especially gingerbread cookies) and listening to Christmas music!! In general, just enjoying the season to the FULLEST
Do they play an instrument? If so, what? How good are they at it? He does!! Piano, guitar, saxophone, harmonica, and a little cello (I do not play an instrument. So if any of what I just said didn't make sense, pretend like it did)! And he's good enough to lead a band, so, quite good!
What's their favorite meal to eat? Ohhhhhh, good question... I think pancakes or waffles, with bacon. Breakfast is his favorite meal of the day
Do they have a favorite video game or board game? I think he'd like the card game spoons!!
Do they celebrate their birthday? For sure!! He loves him some birthday cake
What's their bedtime routine? Ooooh, hard. Maybe he listens to some music, or an audiobook for a while to unwind, before going to bed
What's an OC (or canon character) they like to spend time around? What do they tend to do together? Suvi Owthos!! They're in the same gang, but she's like a little sister to Thaiv. She helps run his band, and they also like to listen to music together, or watch musicals (or Tall Girl)!

Five favorite cheeses. Go.
Oh my word I totally forgot I posted that prompt UHHHH OKAY HERE WE GO
1. Colby-jack, it is delicious and an amalgamation of two cheese I would probably like if I ever ate them alone but why WOULD you when they are PERFECT TOGETHER
2. Swiss, even though it is a DECEITFUL cheese full of holes so you’re not REALLY getting the whole slice but you’re PAYING for a whole slice but you dont care, because it is so good with miracle whip and ham. Also I ate swiss sandwiches growing up which was just swiss bread and miracle whip and it was delicious, I was an odd child. And am provably still an odd adult because now I want one.
3. The mystery cheese from the best grilled cheese sandwich ever to exist that I had two of in 2010 at a business cafeteria across from my internship in Colorado Springs. The cheese was white and there was pesto on it and the bread was crisp and I salivate just thinking about it but I cannot recreate it because I DO NOT KNOW WHAT CHEESE IT WAS ;_; *flips table* And Im pretty sire that business isnt there anymore so NO I CANT CHECK but the lady who made them was very nice and beamed so bright when I gushed over her fabulous sandwiches. A warm (if frustrating) memory.
4. The white queso that came with the nachos at the 571 Grill & Draft House my aunt took me to two nights ago. Is it actually an all-time favorite cheese? Idk but it was pretty dang good with that chorizo and it’s one of the most recent cheeses in my memory so here it goes.
5. As much parmesan as the Fazolis server will grate onto my lasagna, although that is only an augmentation of the truly fabulous cheese of the lasagna itself, baked to perfection, really the only reason to even GET the lasagna, the overall dish is good but then you get that perfect bite of mostly bakes cheese and all else fades, your mouth has transcended to the happiest place, angels are singing. Hopefully you dont bite into a tomato next thats such a comedown, but still worth it for those brief seconds of baked cheesy bliss.

59 and 18 for the bookish ask, perhaps?
18. Recommend a book to the person who sent you this ask.
I saw you had read Redwall and are reading the Green Ember, so I’ll suggest two of my childhood favorites: Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIHM (Robert C. O’Brien) and Roverandom (J. R. R. Tolkien)!
59. A book you wish you'd have written yourself?
I usually read certain scenes and or come across particular ideas I so wish I had written, but it’s very rare for me to think about that in regards to a whole book... But if I had to pick, probably either Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman or A Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern. Both of them are gorgeous and moody and enchanting (and so I also recommend reading them lol)

First, next
I got SO MANY for next—but you were the first! So @taleweaver-ramblings @kazoosandfannypacks @epnona-the-wisp , yours is answered here then
FIRST — the first two sentences of my current project: ‘He collapsed against the cold stone pillars once inside,  utterly defeated. And, he figured, it would only get worse from here.’
NEXT — the next line. meaning i will finish the sentence I’m on and write a new one, which you’ll get. ’It was eerily still, and an almost haunting fog rose to meet them ‘

how can there possibly be a way to make grape nuts taste good?
Ok, here's the thing. Grape Nuts taste great. Most people, as far as I can tell, are just eating them in a non-ideal way. Granted, I like Grape Nuts eaten cold, as long as you give them a minute or two for the milk to soak in. However, they're best eaten hot, and are far superior to pretty much any of the other hot-grain-product-in-a-bowl breakfasts except maybe baked oatmeal (in addition to already being the superior box cereal).
With that in mind, here's how to enjoy Grape Nuts in the best way I know how.
Wake up on a dark winter morning before work, a morning cold enough that even you, a morning person, don't really want to get out of bed.
Wonder if "sick of the cold" counts as being sick.
Remember that there are Grape Nuts open downstairs and decide that getting up is ok, actually.
Downstairs, acquire Grape Nuts, milk, and a microwave-safe bowl.
Put your desired amount of Grape Nuts in the bowl.
Pour milk into the bowl. You'll need to experiment a few times to figure out your preferred Grape Nuts-to-milk ratio. Some people put in enough to cover the cereal so you have floating pieces. I like just enough milk that you start to see it amid the Grape Nuts, but not enough to fully cover them.
Put your bowl in the microwave and heat for about a minute. Again, you'll need to experiment here to figure out what length of time gives you the results you like best. I tend to heat mine for a little less than a minute because I like to still have a little cronch.
Don't take your eyes off of it. If you look away, it'll boil over and make a mess, and then your morning will be decidedly less good.
Remove the bowl from the microwave. Careful, it may be hot.
Let cool just long enough to say thank you, God, for this food or your mealtime prayer of choice.
Dig in. Discover that the hot milk has softened the cereal so it becomes pleasantly textured, but not too hard, and the heat has also brought forth a delicious nutty, slightly molasses-y flavor (which was always there, but wasn't as pronounced before).
Finish the bowl. You're warm now, and your stomach is full, but not so full that you can't consider your taste buds' suggestion that another bowl would be a good idea. (Note: You can listen to them, but be aware that with Grape Nuts, like grilled cheese, the second in one sitting is never as good as the first.)
Steps 1–3 are optional — I can and will eat hot Grape Nuts in summer if I can get them — but I genuinely have cheered myself up on some cold weekday mornings by remembering that I'm having Grape Nuts for breakfast. I'm aware this makes me sound like a character in a cereal commercial, and I genuinely don't care.
If you've already tried Grape Nuts hot and you still don't like them, I recommend testing different amounts of milk and different lengths of microwaving. On the other hand, if you just flat out don't like the flavor . . . I'm sorry. Your life is sad and tragic, but it is the one you must live, and so you'll have to make the most of it.

Got an inbox notification with no new messages, so clearly I'm supposed to answer one of these old ones.
If I get loved, you get a cookie. Would you prefer a mint pinwheel (half-dipped in chocolate), a molasses cookie, or some of my mom's cranberry-almond biscotti?

In the tags on the Mossflower post you reblogged you said that it wasn't your favorite (like it seemed to be op's). Which would you say Is your favorite 👀
This is a very hard question, and my Great Redwall Reread of a few years ago actually made it harder. It is, to be frank, easier to tell you my least favorite than my favorite. But if I must make some choice, it's a five-way tie between Lord Brocktree, High Rhulain, Rakkety Tam, Pearls of Lutra, and Mattimeo.
Lord Brocktree has the fabulous dynamic between the main characters (especially Brocktree and Dotti), Bucko's challenges, pretty much EVERYTHING with the hares, a stellar example of rivals-to-friends, and a pretty epic ending.
High Rhulain, Pearls of Lutra, and Mattimeo all have the riddles/treasure hunt thing going on, which I will never not love. As far as I was concerned, that was a plotline Jacques could repeat as many times as he wanted and I'd be happy.
High Rhulain is probably also a major source of my love of the "young person has nobility unexpectedly thrust upon them; must figure out How Does One Royal?" trope. And it has both hares and otters (my two favorite Redwall races) in major roles! This makes me happy.
Pearls of Lutra is actually my favorite of the treasure-hunt plots, and I think it's the best of the seafaring Redwall books. It's still in the era where we're seeing the overlap of different generations, and we see the young characters from past books grown up, and I really enjoyed that while it lasted. It also has one of the best sympathetic villain characters in the series . . . and I just like Grath Longfletch as a character, what can I say?
Rakkety Tam is Scottish squirrels. Enough said.
(Ok, but actually you have Scottish squirrels, plus the Long Patrol, plus Tergen (who is Excellent), plus a really cute romance? I also love the poems that bracket the different sections. And can we TALK about the final battle? It is arguably the MOST impressive fight, at least in terms of power imbalance, since Martin vs. Tsarmina in Mossflower. Rakkety Tam takes on the evil equivalent of a badger. And WINS. Literally the only reason this is not hands-down my favorite book is the existence of Yoofus, who annoys me so much.)
Finally, Mattimeo really just has almost everything I love about the Redwall series, both the A and B plots are excellent, and it's another one of the stories where you get to see some of the next generation. And it has the Sparra in it — I was so sad when Jacques dropped them from the narrative.
So, yes. Those are probably my favorites. I do love a lot of the series, though, so it's very hard to choose! And I recognize that not all of these have the Significance or Weight of Mossflower, and some of them may be technically weaker books . . . but they're the ones I've loved since the first time I read the series, and that I've only come to love more in the times I've reread them.

Gonna actually do this one because I need to think about happy things today:
Chick-Fil-A chicken biscuits.
My little dragon statues that I have on my desk.
When I get to video call my sister and chat, just the two of us.
Brainstorming new stories with a particular writing buddy.
The fact that I've commissioned two of my favorite internet artists to draw art of my OCs.

Tell us about the Honkai star rail 👀 are there... boys? (◑_◑)
Ok. Honkai Star Rail is a free-to-play space fantasy game where you and a few others travel on a train through space, visiting different stations and planets, meeting people, solving problems, so forth. Your character is the vessel for a thing called a Stellaron, which . . . I haven't gotten far enough into the game to really understand, but it's Significant. The storylines are cool, both the planet quests and your personal storyline. There is ABUNDANT lore if you want to delve into that. The mechanics are interesting but also simple enough that I could pick them up with no previous experience in this kind of game. And the art is gorgeous. I legitimately didn't know games could be this pretty.
As far as boys: you can't romance people, but that does not stop anyone (me included) from appreciating and/or crushing on various male characters, who run the gamut from Genuinely Good Guys (often with tragic backstories — Dan Heng and Jing Yuan are two of my favorites) to Trouble (with a good heart, probably). They all have interesting backstories to discover (valuable to me), and, as I said before, the art is gorgeous.
