I love that I can use the small text option to make just part of my post small- I really wish the big text at least or all of the other text options allowed me to do the same, to only change certain words or phrases, rather than all or nothing
Answer: Hey there, @b-a-n-d-e-r!
A little good news and a little bad news here. First, the good: we would love to do this too, as luck would have it. Consider it duly noted on our proverbial to-do list.
It must be said, however, that it is not clear as and when we might get the chance to do so. The said to-do list is long, and bandwidth is limited. Should we make progress, you can find out here or at @changes.

I recently started getting notifications that say “blank just posted for the first time in a while!” And it’s always been like, a week, since their last post. Most of the blogs I follow are artists, and this is a perfectly normal posting schedule. How can I turn this annoying notification off? Or can we at least extend the time to like, 6 months?
Answer: Hello, @iguanodonwildman!
We are very glad to answer this, and not least because this is something we have noticed ourselves.
The first thing to say here is this: to turn off this type of notification you can toggle the “Recent updates” notification settings in the app, and this will go away.
Tumblr media
But we have actually looked into this ourselves and found the bug responsible. We can confirm that we have now rolled back the change for the activity items—so the bug is fixed, and that toggle is what controls those particular notifications.
And thanks also to @coffeecasuality11, who got in touch with the same question. We hope this will be good news for you folks.

why would overlays be shown for posts with filtered tags? if tags are filtered, we don't want to see them. instead now we have to scroll through tons of filtered posts for no reason, clogging up our tags and defeating the entire point. can we at least have the option to get rid of the overlays? thanks for reading this,
Answer: Hey, @vintacha!
It's a long story, so we'll make it short: there are indeed changes like this we would love to make, and hope to, when we have the bandwidth.
But these are important changes, so we want to make them carefully, and not just throw yet more options into an already-confusing mix. If—and it is an if, at present—we get a chance to take a pass at improving our filtering options, it will probably be more like our community label options, where each one has show, overlay, and skip options.
Thanks for your question, and keep ’em coming y’all.

Can we keep the boops?
Answer: Hi there, @azure-prince! Boop.
Was it really two weeks ago today that Boopageddon was unleashed upon the dashboard?
At this time the answer will have to be no, but we also have to thank you heartily for all of your enthusiasm. That is not all we can say, of course: we will add a little never say never to keep you all on your toes.
Thanks also to @tulpafcker, @flust3rdyke, @alexdoestheart, and more. Boops to you all.

I would love the option to change our vote in polls.
I follow things like ‘am i the asshole’, where sometimes we get updates that change the whole story, so changing my vote to reflect that would be helpful.
There are times when I’ve accidentally voted while scrolling, so even having a short delay where you can change your vote before seeing the results would help.
Answer: Hey there, @enby-ernhardt!
As it happens, someone had a similar question in the not-too-distant past, and we answered it back here. Our stance has not changed, sadly. This is democracy manifest, after all. Choose wisely.
Thanks for your question, and have a good day.

I swear a toggle for “contains commercial content” while editing a post. What’s that about?
Answer: Hi, @iguanodonwildman!
We are glad you asked. The answer, in short, is that the toggle is there to comply with the European Union's Digital Services Act (DSA). It simply adds a “Commercial Content” banner to the post and does not affect your post’s visibility or ranking on Tumblr.
There is a handy Help Center article with more info, which you can find right here.
Thanks for your question!

Hello, I'm sure you all have plenty to do, but can you please stop showing me people I have blocked in the Popular Reblogs feed? It works just fine in the Following feed.
Popular Reblogs is great, a really good way to see things outside of my following bubble, but by not honoring the blocked list it just becomes unpleasant to use.
Thanks!
Answer: Hey there, @bitslip!
Thanks for drawing this hither our attention: what you found is a bug that we need to fix. But know that we have started looking into it, and hope to have updates with you before long.
Thanks for your question, and have a lovely day.

It would nice if the dashboard had a full wide version like you see on the explore page. The page that is home to Trending, For You, Staff Picks and Answer Time
Answer: Hey, @alistairwm!
Thanks for your question here. We think so too as luck would have it, and that’s why we’re working on Patio! But also it would be nice to include our feed viewing options everywhere, as you suggest.
Leave this one with us—it’s duly noted. Should we have news to share, you will be the first to know. Have a lovely day!

Could we follow our own blogs again? I know we create content for others, but we create first and foremost for ourselves and I would like to see my own content on my dash.
Also I would like to get notifications for my own posts. Notifications are important to keep my blogs organized.
Answer: Hey, @hattersgirlalice!
As luck would have it, you can already accomplish this via the Inside Tumblrs setting in Tumblr Labs, which follows all of your own blogs and puts them in your Following feed.
We hope this helps, and thanks for your question.

Hi! The option to embed Tweets, that automatically adds alt text, is very practical, and I seriously appreciate it. It has some imperfections though, such as not including the text of the quoted Tweet (when applicable) or, when the Tweet includes an image that itself has alt text, not including said alt text. Is it technically possible to add these functions in the future?
Answer: Hey there, @aseriesofunfortunatejan!
We’d love to improve the alt text we add to embedded Tweets! Unfortunately, we’re only able to use the text that Twitter sends us through their oEmbed API, and they don’t include the text of quoted tweets—or the alt text of images in the Tweet.
Over on WordPress.com, we used to have a more powerful Twitter integration: we were experimenting with using it to improve Tweet embeds on Tumblr. Sadly, Twitter decided to start charging everyone prohibitively large fees to access their API in this way, which meant we had to shut it all down. It’s the same reason we had to shut down sharing to Twitter from Tumblr, too.
We’re eternal optimists, so we’ve built Tweet embedding to be pretty flexible. Should Twitter ever decide to expand the text that they send us, we’ll start using it automatically.

Is it possible that we could get an option to completely block tags so that they don’t show up at all rather than just having them show up with a warning?
Answer: Hey there, @spookyabuki!
So, the answer here is ultimately yes, as we’d like to work on this kind of thing and make it better.
But doing so would mean we really need to take the time to make the whole story around filtering and blocking more cohesive. As it is, we keep adding band-aids, and it really needs a total rework.
We hope that, sometime, we will get around to doing that exact rework. As and when we have updates here, you will be the first to know!

Could there be some place for us to see all the polls we've voted for? Sometimes I don't feel like checking out the results when I get the notification, but if I don't do that, then I might never see it again.
Answer: Hi, @otterandterrier!
This would be very cool to have, nay, particularly cool. Only we must tell you, sadly, that we’ve put a pause on developing the poll feature any further for the time being. Should this change, you will find any news through the usual channels: WIP and @changes.
But thank you for your question, and keep 'em coming.

Right now, this seems to be the place to submit feature requests for tumblr. Are there any plans to create an actual forum for feature requests (and possibly bug reports) where anyone with a tumblr account could post (preferably not just on Mondays), and duplicate threads could be merged, and there could be some kind of tagging and ticketing system to keep things organized? Sorry for the run-on sentence, but I think this would be especially helpful now that you're shifting more of the platform towards open-source software like StreamBuilder and ActivityPub, since it would help keep things organized not just for your developers but also for any potential open source contributors.
Answer: Hey, @eda0bdedb8ba!
We have actually thought about something similar, and it could be a useful space. The consensus we came to, however, is that it does not make sense for us to move forward with this work at this time, particularly given the range of other projects—we don't have the bandwidth to look at it properly.
That said, it is hoped we can revisit this in future when we have the time and space to take a better look into it. It could be a great feature, as you outline.
As always, we suggest you keep an eye out here or at @changes for updates. Thanks for your question!

on patio it would be useful with a refresh button next to the meatball menu so refreshing is only one click instead of two
Answer: Hi, @demigoat!
We have got a little good news for you here. Some good news, in fact. As it happens, you can click on the header to refresh. Easy is as peasy does.
We hope that helps, and thanks for your feedback! Have a good day.

Can Tumblr stop sending notifications to us saying "your crush" posted something, trying to inappropriately romanticize friendships or follows? It's incredibly inaccurate and uncomfortable when I'm sitting next to my husband and get a notification popping up on my screen saying that my "crush" posted something. I don't know if you guys are meaning to treat this like some juvenile dating app but if you're going to do that, there should be a way to opt out of it without having to turn off notifications just so that our online relationships are not being misrepresented.
Answer: Hi there, @theshadowpoet!
So, as luck would have it, we were just having a conversation about this internally. We agree that this phrasing could be problematic and will be changing it via an update this week or soon after.
But that's not all. To turn off this type of notification, you can toggle the "Recent updates" notification settings in the app to banish updates such as these.

One of the things I enjoyed about the mobile app was how it used to let you format posts through HTML or Markdown coding. Would it be possible to bring it back? It's kinda weird that the NPF Editor is used on all different platforms, but HTML and Markdown are exclusive to desktop and the mobile website.
Answer: Hey there, @violetganache42!
Sadly, we are not going to bring it to the mobile apps. While we understand that it can be handy to a few people, we are sorry to say it is not handy enough, to not enough folks, to warrant prioritizing that work now.
Should this ever change, however, you will find this at the usual channels: here or over at @changes.
