where is all the love for one of my fave teen wolf background character sydney??? like i love her so much?? she’s been in teen wolf since s4 and she’s so sweet and nice and relatable. like i will never forget her anxiety over tests and ap bio. like she literally had hair loss bc of stress and she needs a scholarship!! tell me that isn’t interesting. she goes to all the lacrosse games and she looks so adorable!!! dont forget she literally kicked stiles in the head !! also i LOVE that scene at the end of pressure test where deaton or whoever draws a smiley face for her on the board and she’s confused and doesn’t know what’s happening but she SMILES and takes JOY in this mystery and it’s just so cute!! no one talks about that and i demand to know why!! and okay i love nolan but sydney was there first. i feel like sydney should’ve also been in the hunter arc in a much bigger way bc she’s been friends with the pack for years and i have no doubt that she knew what monroe was saying was bullshit. like she saw the beast and was scared but she knew scott saved her. when monroe singled her out she looked like she was stuck between being afraid (anuk-ite induced) and knowing that supernatural people are still people. like she’s smart enough not to buy into that genocidal bullshit. i wanted her to be in teen wolf more and be a beloved side character like danny. she had so much potential. she is so under utilized and under appreciated and i literally can’t stop thinking about her.

Eyewitness accounts are often extremely unreliable, and emotionally charged events can affect memory retention. No one who was there that night will be able to forget what happened, but the things we individually remember might be very, very different.

However, this story is mine and mine alone. It’s the events that occurred in the library as I remember them.

And I remember them vividly.

Reasons to love the fic: I adore outsider POV, and then this is Sydney! And it's all about appreciating Scott? What is not to love? It's formatted as Sydney feeling a need to speak out and appreciate Scott through a school paper article. And I adore it.

yeah no problem ! i'm not too experienced with writing platonic things , let alone teenage/child reader situations , but i can most definitely try !

You're adopted by the Payday gang

The gang literally has no fucking clue what to do with you when they find you in front of the safe house

You were dropped off by Twitch at the safe house and Duke was the one to meet with you first

Litearally has no clue what's going on, and the rest of the crew ends up gathering as well to see what was happening

Dallas eventually got a call from Bain, explaining the entire situation

You were adopted by Bain for reasons unknown, and now you kinda just live there

It takes a bit of time for the gang to warm up to you, but once they do, it's pure fun from then on out

Jiro is like the calm parental figure that teaches you coping mechanisms for things like anxiety, depression, or other issues

He's the first one to notice if something's wrong, and he would be the first one you would go to

Duke is like that really cool relative that can and will blabber on about ancient shit

He'll offer to take you to a museum of your choice on his days off, and if you take a real interest in something you see, then he'll probably steal it during a heist just to make you happpy

Sydney, Joy, and Wolf are basically your chaotic family

Joy will teach you the ropes on tech and hacking, Sydney would let you go ham on designing masks, and Wolf would help you try to make your own contraption in his workshop

These situations typically get you and the gang in some trouble [Making a mess with paint, making the most dangerous fucking contraption in humanity, accidentally hacking into some really dangerous/important database, etc]

That's where Aldsotne, Dallas, and Hoxton come in

They're like the calm and tired parents of the gang like oml give them a fucking break

If chaos ensues and it involves you, Dallas will be the first one to hear about it and immediately try to diffuse the situation

Hoxton would be the one to give you a good scolding about it, and Aldstone would be the one cleaning and teen-proofing the place where it happened

Sokol and Bonnie are the more chill ones and often like to teach you how to play games

Sokol will teach you how to play hockey, and he might even take you to an ice skating rink to teach you how to skate [if you don't know how to that is]

Bonnie would teach you the tricks behind gambling. Obviously she won't use real money when playing with you, but she'll use fake chips to demonstrate the stakes that are put on the table when in such situation

Jacket is like that weird and quiet relative that you are a little uncomfortable with but manage to get along with him after a few hours

He'll let you record your own lines for his tape recorder and might even use them during heists

Jacket also likes to offer to play video games with you, and you often beat him in them. Of course, he doesn't complain or anything because if he did, he knew he'd probably be mauled

Ethan and Hila like to invite you to record videos with them

Whether it be a vlog about daily life, a YouTube challenge, or a talent showoff, they always wanna make sure you feel included

Hell, when they post their vlogs, they'll often brag about how epic you are and make sure that you get a nice amount of attention on social media. If you're okay with it that is

All in all, the Payday gang is a pretty good family considering your whole orphan situation

Sydney puts her pencil down with a sigh. The blank piece of paper where she intended to write her college essay remains blank. Empty. Like her head. "How will I," she mutters, picking up her pencil and putting it down again.

She doesn't mean to flinch when Scott McCall walks into the empty classroom, interrupting her riveting session of... not getting anything done. She can tell by the way his smile falters that he noticed it, though.

She has no more idea how to explain that she isn't afraid of him than she does of how to answer her essay question. She's just easily startled after everything that's happened. There's always a low-level fear in the back of her mind, ready to turn into life-saving adrenaline at a moment's notice.

"College essay," she says with a shrug, trying to dissolve the tension before it strangles her. She's not afraid of him.

Scott's face falls even further. "I forgot... mine is. I think it's too late."

Sydney frowns. "You missed the deadline?"

Scott rubs his neck, "Maybe? What day is it?"

"Uhm. Monday? The 23rd?"

"April 23rd?"

"Yeah?"

"Thank you!" he answers with a huge grin. The grin falters. "I have time but..."

Sydney frowns. "But what? Go! Send in your application. God, boys are such a mess."

Scott laughs as he walks out of the classroom.

She stares at the essay question and picks up her pencil.

Write five hundred words about someone you admire.

She can do this.

I write for Newtmas, Destiel, Thiam, Steddie and Byler fairly regularly, but I’m honestly happy to write for nearly any piece of media I’ve watched at my own discretion (including, but not limited to, Teen Wolf, The Maze Runner, Supernatural, Stranger Things, Yellowjackets, HSMTMTS, Queen Charlotte, etc etc. I’ve watched most things, so feel free to ask!). I prefer writing for queer ships, but am definitely not closed minded to writing something else if the prompt/ship is right! I also want to start making/posting gif packs. I’ve been making gifs for years, but never for public consumption! As this can take HOURS, and a ton of commitment against the ADHD related boredom, I would probably put all gif packs (or requests for gif packs) behind a pay wall, relative to the size of the hunt. I’m also going to open up commissions for this. I’m not going to be asking for a ton here, just a little something in compensation for the work. I already have hundreds for Courtney Eaton, Joshua Bassett, Ella Purnell, Sofia Wylie, Sabrina Carpenter, Katelyn Nacon, Danielle Rose Russell, Abigail Cowen and others, but am happy to take new requests as well (again, at my discretion). I’ve attached some gifs below to give you an example of my work!

I wrote my first fanfiction since hum...My teens days. In english which is a big step for me because I used to be so insecure speaking the langage and was often surrounded by people mocking me for it. Sydney is a young woman just trying to redo her life. She's going back to university with the hope of a better outcome than the one she usually have. She makes more friends she ever thought she would, make peace with a parts of herself and her passed away mother. The young witch has to make peace with her past in which might involved a shitty ex ALLEGEDLY transformed into a frog. Carmy is new on campus trying his best to found his brother who left his only possession: his car, to Carmy. Carmy has yet to accept the death of his older brother. Scared of the sense of peace living on campus gives him, he avoids enjoying it too much feeling guilty for moving on. He keep on tracking the scent of this girl who threw trash at him and HE DOESN'T KNOW why. Both supernatural being one who knows and another who doesn't radiating towards each other See both of theses young adults travel new feelings and romance while accepting that they can find peace within each other.

Scott's Burden of Faith in

The Maid of Gévaudan

A close-reading analysis of the library scene in Episode 5x18 in honor of @momentofmemory's birthday.

There is an argument to be made that the climax of Scott's story arc in Season 5 does not come in Apotheosis (5x20) but in this scene two episodes earlier, an episode mostly focused on a guest star and a story set two-and-a-half centuries before the present time. Yet it's very possible to see that the crisis in Scott's life manifests in all its complexity and is resolve this particular night.

It is a crisis of faith. Not religious faith, but a crisis of Scott's faith in what he has come to believe is the right way to act; in other words, his faith in his own identity: the True Alpha. One of the things I love about Teen Wolf is the idea that Scott doesn't start out the series with any other vision for himself aside from the idea that if he works hard he might make first line. No one else expects greatness out of him either: his mother, Stiles, and especially not his own father. Deaton has an intuition, but he doesn't press the issue. They're not doing this to be mean; he's a teenager after all. He has to forge his own vision.

By the time of La Bête's rampage at the lacrosse game, Scott has been the alpha for one-and-a-half seasons, and while he may have faced dire straits, suffered incredible losses, and even endured temptation, his choices have, for the most part, been good choices. Every character says so. But Season 5? Not so much. I would argue that for the first time, the tragedies befalling his pack are a result of his decisions. It's not that these are malicious decisions, they are just wrong. When before all the setbacks had always been because of the power of the enemy, this time Scott has been responsible for some of them.

Scott starts 5B in doubt. "Why would they come back?" he asks his mother in Status Asthmaticus (5x10). This isn't someone who's blaming anyone else -- even Theo -- for what has happened. He's questioning his own credentials, his own right to possess the identity of True Alpha. He's not even sure he can pass AP Biology, he's not even sure he deserves to heal like a werewolf can, let alone that he can defeat the Doctors and their creations.

It's not that he doubts the value of saving people or even the value of his pack. He doesn't waver about whether he should try; he wavers about whether he has the ability to do these things. When he staggers into the library, he's tired, he's bloody, and he's realized one more thing he definitely cannot do -- defeat the Beast in a physical match up. He leans against the table, and it's not hard to imagine him wondering why he ever thought he could stop any villain.

The plan to get the game cancelled failed. The plan to sabotage the television broadcast vans failed. Kira's fox spirit has gone completely off the rails. Liam has been reduced to a walking pile of hamburger. He doesn't know that he's won Hayden to his side, but he also doesn't know that Corinne has been threatening Malia. He's as lost as Marie-Jean was when she went into the woods looking for a wolf instead of a werewolf.

Melissa: You know what you're doing when you say should too often? You're should-ing all over yourself.

We don't know what he was planning to do but then he looks around and sees that he's not in the library alone. To the audience, other than Sydney, they're strangers, but he knows them. That's what Scott does -- he knows people. He's the only character to use Boyd's first name. He knows that Kyle is a senior; he knows that Josh is a junior; he remembers Kira's name. He might be in doubt about his own identity, but he knows who these people are. He knows something else.

Gerard: A monster whose only purpose was to kill. Not for sustenance, not for revenge, not for any rational impulse other than the drive to end life wherever it's found.

They are all going to die. They cannot escape the Beast. They cannot fight it. He can't fight it. All he's been able to do is survive. And he hesitates. He looks around. Because what the heck is he supposed to do?

Theo: We gotta protect him, right? Scott, come on. Scott? Scott, this is what you do.

Scott looks around the library. He has died here. He has felt his heart stop lying on those steps right behind him. He can't win, and even if by some twist of fate he survives, everyone here will have seen his face. The students in the library will see who he is and there will be consequences for that. (Hello, Nolan.) It's not fair, but things have never been fair.

Scott: So, somebody has to do something. Somebody has to save everyone. So somebody's got to be the bait!

The crisis has arrived. He doesn't have any allies with him right now. He doesn't have a plan. He doesn't have an advantage. He's hurt. He's inadequate (Professional mercenary Braeden will point this out in a few minutes). These students are terrified. They know it too. They can see the blood.

Melissa: So all you really need is to ask yourself, "What am I going to do?"

He has to reveal himself. He has to protect them. He has to give the hope. He has to lead them. He has to have faith that he can do these things, no matter how badly he's screwed up or how much it has cost him, or how much it will cost him in the future. It is what an alpha does. It is what a True Alpha does, and whether he wants to be or not, that is what he is.

"Go upstairs."

That's not a plan to beat the Beast; it's not guaranteed to save anyone. it's a statement of faith in his own ability. Win or lose, survive or die, it doesn't really matter what happens next. It doesn't matter that the Beast will be revealed as Mason and that his mistake with Corey will cause the pack to lose a chance to stop all this. It doesn't matter that this will set the stage for Monroe when Nolan talks to her over the summer. At this moment, Scott grabs onto the faith that it is, in the end, a good thing his eyes are red and that he has healed and that he is standing right there in this library.

He roars.
