It is the first night of Ramadan. Ali makes the same journey that he has for the past 22 years. He walks down the same streets, once filled with the night sounds of children laughing and women chatting, the scent of coffee wafting from cafes that stay open for suhoor, the sight of streetlights and dainty lamps and scattered stars, the feeling of moving along with the hustle and bustle of men rushing towards the call of the adhan. The same streets are now eerily silent, whispers of du’a barely audible, no sound of women or children, not enough men to form a crowd, no electricity to fuel the lights, the cafes and buildings crumbled to rubble and dust, the graveyard of a city that once came to life at night.
Ali prays Tarawih on the ruins of the mosque he grew up in.
It is the fifth night of Ramadan. Ali thinks back to the time he first entered this mosque. At four years old, he walked through the doors, his excitement contained within four stone walls. Rays of sun bounced off of tall windows, casting light onto Ali, running around in circles as his father prayed Asr. Ali remembers climbing onto his father’s back as he went down into sujood; he remembers his father putting his head down slower the second time; he remembers standing in front of his father, poking his head and waiting for him to finish; he remembers his father smiling at him and taking Ali into his arms as he completed his du’a; he remembers his father blowing the barakah of his du’as into his hands and blanketing Ali in that same barakah. He remembers his laughter as he did the same back to his father. He remembers the laughter of the other children ringing through the mosque’s four walls.
There are no longer walls to contain the sound, no longer children with any laughter.
It is the 12th night of Ramadan. Ali remembers being 15, in a circle of his friends as they learned the Qur’an. He remembers the giggles and whispers that passed when the teacher’s head was down. He remembers his cheeks flushing as the teacher caught him talking to his friends. He remembers every mistake he made when he first recited Surah Mulk by memory. He remembers his teacher’s sigh when he gave the same lecture for the hundredth time that day. He remembers seeing his teacher smile for the first time when he recited the Surah with no mistakes.
Ali attended the Janazah prayer of his teacher in this very mosque only three Ramadan’s ago.
It is the 14th night of Ramadan. Ali remembers being only 21 when he had his Nikkah. He remembers his cousin sisters decorating the entrance of the mosque. He remembers his mother cooking enough to feed an entire masjid full of worshippers. He remembers his father sitting him down and lecturing him on the responsibilities to come. He remembers the laugh that came after as he told him the blessings that were to follow. Ali remembers the smile that broke as his father told him how proud he was of him. He remembers his father blowing the breath of his du’as on him once more, just like the day he first entered the mosque. He remembers Fatima entering the mosque and thinking they were destined for one another, right down to their names. He remembers lifting her veil the moment they were officially wedded. He remembers their first hug, shy and small and sweet; he remembers wrapping his thobe around her; he remembers the first Salah he led her in and taking her by the hand to lead her out of the mosque, together this time.
Fatima hasn’t entered the mosque since she witnessed her sister being shot on the musallah that their mum gifted her.
It is the 17th night of Ramadan. Ali remembers being 23, rushing into the mosque with a smile just before Isha, exclaiming how Fatima had blessed him with a daughter. He remembers that despite the ongoing attacks, the hugs and smiles and tears and du’as were abundant among the brothers he prayed beside. He remembers looking forward to the day he could bring his daughter into the mosque and she could climb on his back the same way Ali used to climb on his father’s.
Ali’s daughter went missing from the mosque only two nights ago.
It is the 20th night of Ramadan. Ali remembers being 24 and opening his fast with his brother-in-law beside him. He remembers not having much for iftar, but at least having enough dates and bread to feed all of the worshippers that day.
The worshippers lessen as the genocide continues, and yet there is not enough bread to go around.
It is the 27th night of Ramadan. Ali remembers being 25, watching and being part of all the brothers immersed in their prayers and du’as during what may have been Laylatul Qadr. He remembers brothers praying for safe returns, for the healing of loved ones, for the protection of their Lord.
Ali was reluctant to lift his head from the rubble as he prayed for his daughter to come home.
It is Eid day. Ali enters the mosque to pray Eid Salah. He remembers how Ramadan always passes in the blink of an eye. He contemplates the first Ramadan he spent praying on the ruins of his local mosque instead of within its four walls. He ruminates over how the worshippers lessened and lessened from that first night of Tarawih. He remembers attending the Janazah of the ones who were at least blessed enough to be found. He dreads how this Eid prayer will be followed by Janazah prayer, after Janazah prayer, after Janazah prayer.
Ali begs Allah that none of those prayers are reserved for his daughter.

İsra Suresi'nin 23. Ayeti:
Verse 23 of Surah Al-Isra:
Your Lord has decreed that you should worship none but Him and that you should be good to your parents. If one or both of them grow old next to you, don't even say "ugh" to them! Don't scold them and give them a valuable word.

Allah calls Himself Al-Musawwir— The Fashioner, The Bestower of Forms— on one occasion in the Quran. He is the One who forms and shapes all that exists. Al-Musawwir gave everything its own distinct shape and inclination or desire – despite the great variety of the creation – every single creature is unique!
The Shaper, The Fashioner, The Bestower of Forms
Musawwir comes from the root saad-waw-raa, which points to three main meanings. The first main meaning is to make something incline, lean, or bend, and the second is to form, fashion, sculpt, imagine, or picture something. The third main meaning is to have an inclination or desire towards something.
This root appears 19 times in the Quran in five derived forms. Examples of these forms are wasawwarakum (“and He formed you”), as-soori (“the trumpet”), and sooratin (“form”).
Linguistically, khaaliq, baari’, and musawwir are interrelated in meaning and deal with the aspects of Allah ‘azza wa jall as Creator; all the rest is creation. Al-Musawwir bestows forms and not by way of copying— He is far above that. Al-Musawwir says Be! and it is, with the attributes and the form that He has chosen for it. He does what He wills and creates what He wills in the form that He wills.
Al-Musawwir Himself says: He is Allah, the Creator, the Inventor, the Fashioner; to Him belong the best names. Whatever is in the heavens and earth is exalting Him. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise. [Quran, 59:24]
The Relation of Al-Khaaliq, Al-Baari’ and Al-Musawwir
In Surah al-Hashr, Al-Musawwir’ is mentioned after al-Khaaliq (The Creator, The Maker) and al-Baari’ (The Originator). Some scholars have said that in this ayah the attribute of creation refers specifically to Allah’s determination of what He creates, so it comes first.
The name Al-Baarī’ refers to the creative act of bringing about what Allah wills to create. Finally, the name Al-Musawwir (the Fashioner) refers to giving each created thing its particular form. So Allah decrees what He creates, brings it into existence, and specifies its particular, unique form.
Scholars also have differentiated between these three names as follows: Al-Khaaliq is the One Who created from nothing all creatures that exist, according to their decreed qualities. Al-Baari’ is the One Who made man from al-baraa, i.e., clay. Al-Musawwir is the One Who creates various forms and shapes. So al-Khaaliq is a general word, al-Baari’ is more specific and al-Musawwir is even more specific [Kitaab Sharh Asmaa’ Allaah ta’aala al-Husnaa, Dr. Hissah al-Sagheer].
How Can You Live by This Name?
1. Be happy with how al-Musawwir shaped you.
We live in a time of cosmetic surgery; if you don’t like how you look, you can change yourself with a medical procedure. Allah ‘azza wa jall says: He it is who shapes you in the wombs as He pleases. There is no god but He, the Mighty, the Wise. [Quran, 3:6] Be content with how Al-Musawwir shaped you by His ultimate wisdom. For example, if we were as beautiful as the Prophet Yuusuf ‘alayhi salam, would we be able to withstand the temptations he faced? When you look at yourself in the mirror, say Alhamdulillah. If Shaytan tempts you to complain about any of your facial or body features, remember those who are blind, sick, or disabled.
2. Reflect on beautiful shapes.
Allah ‘azza wajal says: Then We made the seed a clot, then We made the clot a lump of flesh, then We made (in) the lump of flesh bones, then We clothed the bones with flesh, then We caused it to grow into another creation, so blessed be Allah, the best of the creators. [Quran, 23:14] Everything you see around us is proof of Allah’s existence. To please your senses, He designed flowers, trees, fruits, and even cows and sheep, etc. to have very appealing shapes. Amazingly, when it comes to outside your range of normal vision, the mosquitoes, bees, and other insects are very terrifying to look at. He ensured that you live a pleasant life, so thank Al-Musawwir for the blessings of beautiful shapes to look at.
3. Live up to your potential!
Know your position. Indeed, We have created the human being upon the best of forms. [Quran, 95: 4] Al-Musawwir created and formed you with a particular brain, heart, face, and limbs, which differentiate us from the animals. How do you use them? You will be questioned on the Day of Judgment as to how you use your hearing, your sight, and your hearts. So use these faculties to do as many good deeds as you can and don’t use them to harm yourself or others by sinning, nor by going to forbidden places.
4. Worship Al-Musawwir alone.
Allah ‘azza wa jall alone deserves your worship. This is the Creation of Allah. Now show me that which those (you worship) beside Him have created. Nay, but the wrong-doers are in manifest error! [Quran, 31:11] Remember this ayah when you feel tempted to turn to others for your desires instead of to Al-Musawwir.
5. Ask Al-Musawwir.
Is not He Who created the heavens and the earth able to create the like of them? Yes Indeed! and He is the Superb Creator (of all), the Ever-Knowing. Surely His Command, when He wills a thing, is only to say to it: ‘Be!’ and it is! Therefore glory be to Him in Whose hand is the Kingdom of all things, and to Him you shall be brought back. [Quran, 36:82-83].
Al-Musawwir perfected everything you see around you; don’t you think He can solve all your problems? So remember when you supplicate: nothing is impossible for al-Musawwir.
O Allah, Al-Musawwir, we know that You are the One who forms the whole creation. Make us of the shaakireen (the grateful ones) for our own forms and the shapes around us, help us ponder Your creations and ask You at all times. Make us of those who use the blessings you gave us for good, and make us witness the beautiful shapes of Paradise, ameen!
And Allah knows best.

🌷Duaas for seeking forgiveness🌷
There are many, MANY, most beautiful Duaas from the Qur’aan and authentic Sunnah about seeking forgiveness from Allaah Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala
Here are only a few.
📌FROM THE QUR’AAN:
🔺1. Duaa of Adam Alaiyhis-Salaatu was-Salaam to Allaah
“ Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers.” (Surah al Aaraaf:23)
🔺2. The duaa of the righteous
"Our Lord! Forgive us our sins and our transgressions (in keeping our duties to You), establish our feet firmly, and give us victory over the disbelieving people." (Surah Aal-Imraan:147)
🔺3. Duaa of Ibraheem Alaiyhis-Salaatu was-Salaam
"Our Lord! Forgive me and my parents, and (all) the believers on the Day when the reckoning will be established." (Surah Ibraheem:41)
🔺4. Duaa of Nuh Alaiyhis-Salaatu was-Salaam
“My Lord! Forgive me, and my parents, and him who enters my home as a believer, and all the believing men and women.” (Surah Nuh: 28)
🍃The Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam said:
‘Whoever sought forgiveness for believing men and believing women, Allaah writes a good deed for him for every believing man and woman.” (at-Tabrani- hasan by al-Albaani, Saheeh al-Jami’ no. 6026)
🔺5. Duaa of Yunus Alaiyhis-Salaatu was-Salaam
“There is no God but You; Glory be to You, Truly I have been one of the wrongdoers” (Surah al-Anbiyah: 87)
📌FROM THE SUNNAH
🔺1. The BEST duaa for seeking forgiveness
The Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam called this duaa “syedul Istighfaar” or “The Master (the best) of prayers for forgiveness”
“O Allaah! You are my Rabb. There is no true god except You. You have created me, and I am Your slave, and I hold to Your Covenant as far as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge thefavors that You have bestowed upon me, and I confess to you my sins. Pardon me, for none but You has the power to pardon.”
He said:
“Whoever says this during the day, believing in it firmly, and dies on that day before evening comes, he will be one of the people of Paradise, and whoever says it at night, believing firmly in it, and dies before morning comes, he will be one of the people of Paradise.” (al-Bukhaari)
🔺2. The Duaa that the Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam taught Aaishah radhi Allaahu anhaa
“O Allaah, indeed You are Pardoning, [Generous,] You love pardon, so pardon me.” (al-Tirmidhī)
🔺3. The Duaa the Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam taught Abu Bakr radhi Allaahu anhu
“O Allaah! I have wronged my soul very much (oppressed myself), and none forgives the sins but You; so please bestow Your Forgiveness upon me. No doubt, You are the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” (al-Bukhaari)
🔺4. The duaa that we say multiple times a day in between the two sujood
“O Allaah forgive me, have mercy on me, guide me, support me, protect me, provide for me and elevate me.” (Ibn Majah, at-Tirmidhi)
🔺5. The duaa that the Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam said in one sitting 100 times.
“O Allaah, forgive me and accept my repentance, for You are the Accepter of Repentance, Most Merciful).” (Abu Dawood and others- saheeh by al-Albaani)
🔺6. The duaa that the Prophet sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam used to recite in his prayer before saying the tasleem:
‎اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي مَا قَدَّمْتُ وَ مَا أَخَّرْتُ وَ مَا أَسْرَرْتُ وَ مَا أَعْلَنْتُ وَ مَا ‎أَسْرَفْتُ وَمَا أَنْتَ أَعْلَمُ بِهِ مِنِّي. أَنْتَ المُقَدِّمُ وَ أَنْتَ المُؤَخِّرُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَا أَنْتَ
“O Allah! Forgive me what I have done in the past, and what I will do in the future, and what I have concealed, and what I have done openly, and what I have exceeded in, and whatever You are More Knowing of than I. You are the One who Brings Forward, and You are the One who Delays, there is no (true) diety except You.” (Ahmad, Saheeh)
And there are MANY more.
And Allaah knows best

Tafsir Ibn Kathir: Surah Al-Hijr Ayah 21-25
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
15:21 And there is not a thing, but the supplies for it are with Us, and We do not send it down but in a known measure.
15:22 And We send the winds fertilizing, then We cause the water to descend from the sky, and We give it to you to drink, and it is not you who are the owners of its supply.
15:23 And certainly We! It is We Who give life, and cause death, and We are the Inheritors.
15:24 And indeed, We know the first generations of you who have passed away, and indeed, We know the present generations of you (mankind), and also those who will come afterwards.
15:25 And verily, your Lord will gather them together. Truly, He is Most Wise, (and) Knowing.
The Supplies for All Things are with Allah
Allah says:
And there is not a thing, but the supplies for it are with Us,
Allah tells us that He is the Owner of all things, and that everything is easy for Him. He has the supplies for all things with Him.
and We do not send it down but in a known measure.
meaning, as He wills and as He wants. Doing so out of His great wisdom and mercy towards His servants, in a way that He is under no obligation to do. But He has decreed mercy for Himself.
Yazid bin Abi Ziyad reported from Abu Juhayfah that Abdullah said:
"No year has more rain than another, but Allah divides the rain between them as He wills, it rains: here a year and there a year. Then he recited,
And there is not a thing but the supplies for it are with Us...).
Reported by Ibn Jarir.
Benefits of the Winds
Allah says:
And We send the winds fertilizing.
i.e., fertilizing the clouds so that they give rain, and fertilizing the trees so that they open their leaves and blossoms.
These winds are mentioned here in the plural form because they give results, unlike the barren wind (Ar-Rih Al-'Aqim, see Adh-Dhariyat 51:41), which is mentioned in the singular and described as barren since it does not produce anything; because results can only be produced when there are two or more things.
Abdullah bin Mas`ud said,
"The wind is sent bearing water from the sky, then it fertilizes the clouds until rain begins to generously fall, just as the milk of the pregnant camel flows generously.''
This was also the opinion of Ibn Abbas, Ibrahim An-Nakha`i and Qatadah.
Ad-Dahhak said:
"Allah sends it to the clouds and it gets fertilized and becomes full of water.''
Ubayd bin Umayr Al-Laythi said:
"Allah sends the wind which stirs up the earth, then Allah sends the wind which raises clouds, then Allah sends the wind which forms clouds, then Allah sends the fertilizing wind which pollinates the trees."
Then he recited, (And We sent the winds fertilizing).
Fresh Water is a Blessing from Allah
Allah says:
then We cause the water to descend from the sky,
and We give it to you to drink,
This means, "and We send it down to you fresh and sweet, so that you can drink it; if We had wished, We could have made it salty (and undrinkable)'', as Allah points out in another Ayah in Surah Al-Waqi`ah, where He says:
Tell Me! The water that you drink, is it you who cause it to come down from the rain clouds, or are We the cause of it coming down! If We willed, We verily could make it salty (and undrinkable), why then do you not give thanks (to Allah)! )56:68-70(
And Allah says:
He it is Who sends water down from the sky; from it you drink and from it (grows) the vegetation on which you send your cattle to pasture. (16:10)
and it is not you who are the owners of its supply.
The meaning is, "You are not taking care of it; rather We send it down and take care of it for you, making springs and wells flourish on the earth.''
If Allah so willed, He could make it disappear, but by His mercy He sends it down and makes it fresh and sweet, maintaining the springs, wells, rivers and so on, so that they may drink from it all year long, water their livestock and irrigate their crops.
The Power of Allah to initiate and renew Creation
Allah says:
And certainly We! We it is Who give life, and cause death,
Here Allah tells us of His power to initiate creation and renew it. He is the One Who brings life to creatures out of nothingness, then He causes them to die, then He will resurrect all of them on the Day when He will gather them together.
and We are the Inheritors.
He also tells us that He will inherit the earth and everyone on it, and then it is to Him that they will return.
Then He tells us about His perfect knowledge of them, the first and the last of them.
He says:
And indeed, We know the first generations of you who had passed away....
Ibn Abbas said,
"The first generations are all those who have passed away since the time of Adam. The present generations and those who will come afterward refer to those who are alive now and who are yet to come, until the Day of Resurrection.''
Something similar was narrated from Ikrimah, Mujahid, Ad-Dahhak, Qatadah, Muhammad bin Ka`b, Ash-Sha`bi and others.
Ibn Jarir reported from Muhammad bin Abi Ma`shar, from his father, that;
he heard Awn bin Abdullah discussing the following Ayah with Muhammad bin Ka`b:
And indeed, We know the first generations of you who had passed away, and indeed, We know the present generations of you (mankind), and also those who will come afterwards,
and it was stated that it refers to the rows for prayer.
Muhammad bin Ka`b said, "This is not the case. (And indeed, We know the first generations of you who had passed away),
it refers to those who are dead or have been killed,
and;
and also those who will come(afterwards),
meaning those who have yet to be created.
And verily your Lord will gather them together. Truly, He is Most Wise, (and) Knowing).''
Awn bin Abdullah said,
"May Allah help you and reward you with good.''

23 March 2024, Saturday
Miraculously feeling a lot less blue and more of other colors today, alhamdulillah! Also, I’m forever a take photos of sunset girl.
Day 13: What aspects of the qur'anic science have you explored, and how did that go? (e.g tafsir, translation, memorization, tajweed, recitation)
I use a Quran with word by word translation as well as full ayah translations and it’s a game changer. As someone that doesn’t know Quranic arabic it’s sooo nice to actually understand what you’re reciting in real time. When I was little I memorized the shorter surahs of chapter 30 and though it’s been a personal goal recently to memorize more, I just haven’t been able to make it a priority (sadly). I definitely ain’t giving up though, sooner or later in sha Allah I wish to memorize chapter 30 entirely.

Allah has sent down the best statement: a consistent Book wherein is reiteration. The skins shiver therefrom of those who fear their Lord; then their skins and their hearts relax at the remembrance of Allah . That is the guidance of Allah by which He guides whom He wills. And one whom Allah leaves astray - for him there is no guide.
- Surah Az-Zumar, Ayah 23

A beneficial tadabbur I learned recently. In part of an aayah, Allah says:
🌸 ❛Remember when you were few, then He increased you in number. And consider the fate of the corruptors.❜ 【Surah al-A’raf 7:86】
There is a an amazing lesson behind this aayah that can help us stop from sinning if we ponder over it. Allah commands us to:
🌿 (1) Remember how we first started, and how now we have been blessed by Him.
There is absolutely zero way for a person to disobey Allah, except that he has to use Allah’s blessings — that phone, that computer, even the eyes that Allah gives for him to see, ears that Allah gives for him to listen, etc. Remember that we were once nothing, but Allah has blessed us with health, financial capacity, and other forms of rizq throughout our years. When we remember this, we will be shy to disobey Allah.
🌿 (2) And remember His punishment.
When we’re about to sin, stop and think: “If I go ahead with this, what will happen to me?” Because Allah commands us to consider the fate of those who were corrupted — and we know exactly what happened to the nations of Prophets Nuh, Lut etc.
One of the best people to ever lived by these two points was Prophet Yusuf 'alayhis-salaam. When he was seduced by the wife of al-'Aziz, he immediately said:
🌸 ❛(1) Allah is my refuge! It is ˹not right to betray˺ my master who has taken good care of me. (2) Indeed, the wrongdoers never succeed.❜ 【Surah Yusuf 12:23】
Two very same points as the first aayah. What helped Prophet Yusuf to protect himself from sinning was this methodology.
So remember Allah’s blessings, and remember His punishments. May Allah protect us from disobeying Him knowingly and unknowingly, and forgive us when we err, for we are indeed weak and fallible without His protection.
