a/n: to be honest, the diary has nothing to do with the fic other than the beginning lmao.

“this is literally your chance. if you throw this away i don’t know if i’ll ever forgive you.” yeji says and you smile at her.

“yes, i know. this might be my only chance, you know? i wouldn’t wanna waste it.” you respond hopefully and yeji pats your shoulder.

“when are you going to see him, anyways?” yeji asks and you smile gleefully.

“tomorrow. i get to shoot my shot with him, tomorrow.” you bite your lower lip in excitement and giselle sighs before standing up.

“i’d love to help you choose outfits and stuff, but i need to go. i’ll see you tomorrow, yeah?” yeji says with a smile and you nod goodbye. she walks out of your room and you hear her footsteps swiftly departing your door.

that’s when you run towards your cupboard and practically rip the shoeboxes out.

“good.” you say with a sigh as you press the notebook to your chest. “it’s safe.”

and so, you slip out the pen from the small pouch attached to the front of he light blue book and open it to the latest page.

“dear diary

i finally have a chance with sunghoon! we’ll get to be alone together for HOURS! just the two of us!

gosh, i’m excited. i think it might be the best thing that’s ever happened to me.

he’s going to notice me, and look at me, and even talk to me!!!!!

we probably won’t get together immediately, but i’m hoping we’ll at least be friends

“okay, how does this look?” you spun in front of yeji and she hums in thought.

“i think… it works! i didn’t expect it to, but it looks really good on you.” yeji says and you smile. you dust yourself down and fix your hair before screaming into your hands.

“if i were you,” yeji interrupts your nervous squeals. “i’d get out of here because im pretty sure you need to already be at sunghoons place."

you nod in agreement and shove all the books on your desk into your backpack.

"sorry about this. I just cant find a pen..." you search through your bag frantically.

what if this makes a bad impression???

"no need to apologise. it's fine." he responds, but you can hear the impatience in his voice.

"you know what?" you start, before turning your bag over, spilling its contents across the table. sunghoon's eyes widen at the gesture as you pull the pen out of the pouch of your diary, before stuffing all the contents back in (or under) the bag.

"there we go. we can finish off question 3 now." you say with a smile which sunghoon reciprocates.

"i'm so tired now." you say with a stretch and a yawn.

"yeah, me too. we can finish off the rest of this tomorrow, for now i just need to sleep." sunghoon runs his hand through his hair and sighing.

he does look exhausted.

"yeah, i should probably head home and take a nap." you say with a smile before standing up and stretching. sunghoon nods and says a small goodbye as you hurriedly pick up your backpack and walk out of his home.

sunghoon was restless that night. for someone who was apparently exhausted, he was doing very little sleeping. he looks to the right at his clock and shrugs.

it's 3:55, i'll never sleep at this rate.

his stomach grumbles suddenly and he sighs in realisation.

“im hungry… that’s what it is… i’m just hungry.” sunghoon says to himself as he walks out of his room into the dark passage and down the even darker staircase.

he walks past his dining table, past the pale blue book as he opens the fridge in search of sustenance.

wait…

pale blue book?

sunghoon backtracks; both mentally and physically. then he remembers it.

you had dumped out the contents of your backpack onto the table, so you might have left it behind by mistake.

“read me sunghoon~” he can't tell if he’s genuinely hearing this or is slightly losing his mind.

probably the latter, due to his hunger.

he flips over the front cover and sees your handwriting

“jay, jake- what do i do.” sunghoon, as with all other difficult decisions, calls his two best friends. jay park and jake sim.

“read it.”

“don’t read it”

the two voices ring through the phone in unison.

“she left it here, so you can do whatever you want with it. what if she secretly likes me and wants you to read it to help set her up with me?” sunghoon rolls his eyes at jakes opinion as jay chuckles sarcastically.

“jake, no. that’s not how it works. it’s her private stuff so leave it alone. besides, if y/n has a crush on one of us, it’s probably me.”

"can we stop debating on who y/n likes?" sunghoon stops his friends bickering instantly.

“hoon, just read it. she’ll never even know.” jake does have a point.

“i’ll flip a coin. heads i read it, tails i don’t.” sunghoon picks up a coin and flips it onto his hand, closing his other hand above it. his lifts his hand and reveals the result.

“heads. i get to read it.” jake claps and “whoops” in celebration and jay shrugs disappointedly.

sunghoon flips open to a random page and starts reading aloud.

"dear diary" sunghoon reads it in a higher pitched voice, which elicits a laugh from jake.

"he looked so pretty today!!! the way he walked through the halls was almost deadly!!!!!!! i hope one day he'll walk that way and be walking to me.

i just wanna talk to him, you know? i don't even need to date him or anything like that. just being friends is enough.

MANIFESTING A FRIENDSHIP BETWEEN ME AND-" sunghoon pauses. he reads over the sentence again, this time in his head. his name was the next word in that very sentence. was this whole diary entry about him?

"hoon? why'd you stop?" jake asks and jay hums in thought.

"is the entry about one of us? is that why?" jay seemed extremely interested for someone who didn't want to read it in the first place.

"uh, i'm heading to bed now. see you guys tomorrow." sunghoon hurriedly ends the call and throws his phone across the room and it lands on his couch.

you had a crush on him?

he wasn't understanding it. he poured out a bowl of cereal, despite the time, and ate it — still deep in thought.

what was there about him to even like?

(not to sound narcissistic but) sunghoon knew he was attractive. he was reminded of it every day. but excluding his looks, you have no reason to like him. and there are a lot of attractive people at school, so...

why him?

sunghoon didn't sleep much that night. he had never questioned why all the other girls seemed so in love with him.

why were you making him wonder about it so much?

speaking of girls who were in love with him, jang wonyoung's daily morning message sends a ping to sunghoon's phone.

wonyoung had worked on a school project with sunghoon, and she had tried her hardest to maintain that friendship with him.

despite the fact that they had done the project almost two years ago.

"morning sunghoon! i hope you slept well! it's been a while since we last saw each other, and i can't help but miss you ＞﹏＜ let me know when you're free to meet up!"

sunghoon couldn't bring himself to ignore her message, or block her. so he'd rather lie.

"hey wonyoung! figure skating and school is getting really busy these days, so we wont be able to hang out for a while. sorry :("

somehow, wonyoung ended up being one of the only people who knows sunghoon figure skates. he doesn't remember bringing it up, but she asked about it once and she's known ever since. she also somehow knew where he trained, and when but he never thought to question it. even when she started showing up there.

sunghoon walked into school and took a deep breath in. he was going to give you your book, confirm that he didn't read it then walk away.

that won't be too hard, right?

"y/n, go say hi to him!" sunghoon hears the voice of someone, clearly your friend, urging you to talk to him. this made him nervous.

did you find out that he read it? did someone tell you? WAS IT JAY?! no jay wouldn't do that, would he?

"hey there, sunghoon!" your friend greeted sunghoon, and you were nowhere in sight.

well, not nowhere. you were hiding behind a pillar, but sunghoon decided to pretend not to see you.

"hey... sorry, but i don't really know your name." sunghoon admits awkwardly and the girl chuckles before shaking hear head.

"yeah, i didn't expect you to. i'm yeji. i'm a friend of y/n's." she holds her hand out for sunghoon to shake, and he does so.

"where is y/n anyway? i need to talk to her about something." sunghoon holds back the urge to look at the pillar you were standing behind and yeji looks around.

"hm, i don't know. you could tell me though-"

"yeji! there you are!" you walk out from behind the pillar hurriedly and almost trip, but regain your balance and walk up to sunghoon and yeji.

"y/n! sunghoon here wants to talk to you, so i'll see you in class!" yeji says with a smile, and the shock and confusion on your face was clear as day. you grabbed her hand and pulled her close to you.

"yeji!" you whisper into her ear. "you can't leave me with him alone!" yeji laughs and pulls herself away.

"we can talk about it later y/n. bye now!" yeji sprints off this time, leaving you alone with a very awkward sunghoon.

"so... what'd you wanna talk about?" you ask him and he brings his hand to the nape of his neck awkwardly. he slides his backpack off of his back and into his hands and he unzips the front pouch, leaving his hand in there.

"you left this behind at my place yesterday and-" you interrupt him with a shriek as he slides the book out of the pouch. you grab it and press it to your chest.

sunghoon watches in silence.

"oh god im so sorry! i just... really care about this book." cue the awkward laughing. sunghoon shakes his head with a smile.

"wait." your smile is gone now, replaced with a look of seriousness.

"did you read anything?" you ask and sunghoon laughs and shakes his head.

"no, don't worry. only your name on the first page." sunghoon reassures with a smile.

"great, thanks sunghoon!" you smile at him, but notice that his smile is gone.

"y/n." he whispers worriedly. "i need you to do me a favor and subtly imply that i am in a relationship." you look at him confusedly.

"please, y/n. just until she leaves." sunghoon points at a girl who is walking towards the two of you, increasing in speed with every step she takes. you should be happier about this. you get to know what sunghoon is like as a boyfriend, even if it is just for a few minutes.

"sunghoon!" the voice of the girl startles you, and sunghoon immediately reaches for your hand and squeezes it gently.

"hey, wonyoung." sunghoon responds with a smile, now drawing circles onto your hand with his thumb.

"who's this?" wonyoung asks with a smile, gesturing to you. she's really pretty, and tall and seems smart. why is sunghoon trying to avoid her?

"i'm y/n." you hold out your free hand for her to shake, but she doesn't take it. she just stares at you.

"so, sunghoon! when are you free?" wonyoung moves on as if you aren't there and smiles at sunghoon.

"i won't be free for a while, sorry." sunghoon responds awkwardly and wonyoung pouts, before reaching for sunghoon's other hand, probably unaware that you can see her doing so.

"hoon? we need to get going." you whisper, just loud enough for wonyoung to hear. the nickname slips out of your mouth before you have any time to stop it. this whole thing is starting to feel a little too real.

"'hoon'? what a cute nickname! can i call you that too?" wonyoung asks and sunghoon shakes his head.

"sorry wonyoung, only y/n-ie can call me that." sunghoon looks down at you with a smile, and your cheeks heat up.

"oh! right, sorry. how long have you two even known each other?" wonyoung asks, slightly glaring at you.

"can you guys talk another time? we really need to go now." sunghoon squeezes your hand again, this time in thanks.

"oh okay! i'll talk to you some other time." wonyoung smiles before walking off, being sure to send you a glare before she leaves.

sunghoon hasn't let go of your hand. you haven't let go of his either.

"thanks for that, y/n-" sunghoon is cut off by a gasp from behind him.

"sunghoon?! is that y/n?! holy shit-"

"jake, shut up." jay and jake, sunghoon's best friends. the warmth on your hand vanishes as sunghoon lets go.

"um, thanks for earlier. i gotta get going now so... bye." sunghoon smiles before running off with his friends.

"you owe your life to me at this point." yeji laughs evilly as she hangs off the edge of your bed, reading text messages from her other friends.

yeji stays over at your house frequently, and tonight was no different. you would watch movies and share stories all night, which frustrated your parents.

but tonight was different. you feel strange, as if you were being watched.

"hey, yeji? do you feel... weird?" you ask, and she sits up and looks at you confusedly.

"no? what do you mean?" her response is less reassuring than you thought. the room was heating up, as it usually did during the summer months, so you walked over to the window to get some fresh air in.

who the hell is that?

you don't open the window and just stare out at the girl in the field.

"y/n? what's happening?" yeji walks up to you and notices the girl at the window.

“who’s that?” yeji asks, and you move closer to the window in an attempt to see the girl clearer.

“i have no idea-“ you’re cut off by a sudden flash of light, when you realize that the girl had taken a picture of you before walking off.

“that… was weird.” yeji sits back down on the bed, and you place yourself beside her — deep in thought.

who was that girl and what was she doing here?

as you walk into school, your eyes immediately wander to sunghoon. he's looking around for something. as soon as he spots you, he stops. he walks towards you, looking concerned.

"y/n, hi. i need to ask something." sunghoon says and you nod in response.

"was there someone at your house last night? not in the house, though. was there anyone outside your window, or in your backyard or something?" he asks. you immediately remember the girl who was outside last night, and you nod in response.

"yeah. there was this weird girl out there." you respond and sunghoon grabs your hand before walking towards the first year classes.

"wonyoung?" he sees her walking in the halls and calls her over.

"sunghoon! hi! and... you." wonyoung smiles at sunghoon, only briefly acknowledging your existence.

"wonyoung. i thought we talked about this. it's creepy and it doesn't make me like you any more. hell, it actually makes me like you less." sunghoon says. it seems as if she's done this before.

"but-"

"just stop it. i don't want to hear your excuses. i think we should stop being friends." sunghoon admits and wonyoung's eyes widen.

"what? all for her?" she spits out the word 'her' with such distaste.

"i've been here for you for two whole years! and you're just gonna throw me away as if i'm nothing?!" wonyoung is clearly upset.

"wonyoung. go make friends your age. you're a nice person, i'm sure lots of people would love to be friends with you." sunghoon says before walking off with you. he hasn't let go of your hand, and you cant help but want to stay like this forever.

the dark clouds above start to let raindrops fall down, and sunghoon starts to run, looking back at you with a smile. you run until you enter the nearest classroom, clothes sticking to your bodies uncomfortably.

the rain gets significantly worse as soon as you enter.

"all students, stay where you are until the rain passes. all classes will be postponed until the rain has ended." the headmistresses voice rings through the intercom and you sit down at a desk, sunghoon following and sitting beside you.

the next few hours go by extremely quickly, the two of you talking about anything and everything you could think of.

you learnt a lot of things about sunghooon. he ice skates, which you think is extremely fitting. then you realise he doesn't know anything cool about you.

"i have a question for you, y/n." sunghoon asks and you nod.

"do you have feelings for anyone?"

"huh?" you respond confusedly and he chuckles.

"sorry if that was too personal of a question. i'm just curious." he says with a smile.

where was he going with this?

"yeah. i do like someone. why, do you?" you ask in response.

"no. at least, i don't think i do. i have another question, if that's okay?" he asks again and you nod, you were extremely curious.

"what do you like about them? or, how did you know you liked them?"

“i don’t know. at first it was just his looks, then it was the way he smiled when something went his way. the way he was kind to everyone. i can’t really pinpoint it, but something about him draws me in. you know?” you respond, rambling just slightly. sunghoon takes a deep breath in and sighs.

“y/n? can you do me a favor?” he asks and you nod.

“what is it?” you ask.

“can you close your eyes?” he asks, and you comply curiously.

it’s silent for a few seconds, but excluding sunghoons breaths, which are increasing in speed.

that’s when he presses his lips against yours, you’re taken aback — not so much as to push him off, but enough so that your open suddenly. sunghoon pulls away as you open your eyes and apologizes.

“sorry. i wasn’t thinking. i’ll just go.” he stands up and walks out of the classroom and into the rain. you follow after him, but he’s significantly faster than you are.

you call out to him and he stops running, standing still in the center of the schools courtyard. you walk up to him and sigh.

“it’s you; the guy i like. but i’m guessing you already knew that, right?” sunghoon’s eyes widen in shock, and you laugh lightly.

“i figured as much. also, i heard jake and jay whispering about it this morning.” you smile at him.

“i’m really confused right now. about my feelings, i mean.” he admits.

“that’s okay. you’ll let me know when you know how you feel, yeah?” sunghoon nods in response, and you turn to walk away.

a few steps later, sunghoon pulls your wrist and turns you to face him.

“i think- i think i like you.” he whispers, just loud enough for you to hear. you press a kiss on his cheek and smile. you can see wonyoung from one of the classrooms windows, but you ignore her. sunghoons hand interlocks with your own as the two of you run back into the classroom.

you shake your thoughts away as time goes by, nearing the agreed upon time for the date. karina offered to drive you, but it would probably be better if you went by yourself, so that’s exactly what you did.

the address to the cafe that jake sent to karina was coincidentally near your place, which is why you just decided to walk there. as you space out again, you wonder what kind of person will show up. it’s definitely been a while since your last date, and you have no idea what to expect.

walking into the cafe, a sense of comfort and warmth fills you. you scan the place for anyone who looks like whatever jake describes as a “cute, brown-haired guy wearing a white sweater”.

finally, your eyes landed on someone familiar. you couldn’t believe what you were seeing. is that park sunghoon? as in, the park sunghoon you’ve had a crush on for quite a long time now?

surely he couldn’t be your date, right? you thought that he probably just liked the cafe, but when he stood up and started walking towards you, you started to think that maybe your judgement was wrong.

WHO MADE HER CRY?! — PARK SUNGHOON

SYNOPSIS — It was already hectic enough to cry on live, but having an ENHYPEN member accidentally tweet about it was even worse. What you don’t know was the fact, Park Sunghoon, the 4th eldest member, was a very big fan of you. And what he didn’t know was the fact you were also a very big fan of him. "Isn't she adorable when she's asleep?" Riki's voice, a soft murmur amidst the chatter, pulls at your consciousness.

"You're lucky to have her, Riki," Jungwon adds.

"I am," Riki agrees softly, his gaze never leaving your peaceful face. "She means everything to me."

"Hey, Riki, you're making us all jealous with your relationship goals," someone jokes.

Riki chuckles, the sound a melodic harmony to your ears. "Sorry, guys, I can't help it if I have the best partner in the world."

His words send a flutter of warmth through your chest, even as sleep threatens to pull you deeper into its embrace. With Riki by your side, you know that every moment, awake or asleep, is filled with love and happiness.

Yn has been figure skating since she was 6 and is very passionate about it (also to add shes been to the Olympics before getting 5th place), but often she gets overwhelmed so she uses her priv as an escape.

Xiaoting

You and xiaoting have been friends the longest out of everyone, you guys have been friends ever since you started figure skating and you've guys been through everything. Xiaoting is also very passionate about skating and has came to close to going to the Olympics.

Chaewon

You and chaewon have a very deep bond, even tho she started skating 4 years after you, you've guys became close very quickly. Currently shes taking a break from skating for a bit after healing from her injury but when she has time she comes to watch you pratice and cheers you on.

Yunjin

Even tho yunjin started coming to skate only 6 months ago you guys quickly started to get along easily. Yunjin actually doesn't do skating for competing, but only for her enjoyment and escape from reality.

“i mean your abs are pretty impressive, pretty convenient for a washing board though.”

an offended, loud gasp from just beside you, makes you giggle. the cardboard boxes rustle against each other, a few of them being opened up to take out your newly ordered white vases, which your helpful neighbour skillfully places among the wooden shelves.

meanwhile, you wipe off the dust and rearrange the little trinkets on the white showcase, occasionally admiring your handsome neighbours’ work.

“when did you see my abs though, are you lying to me, ms y/n?”, jake scoffs, putting the last vase on the shelf.

you giggle, finishing off your work on the showcase, “i think you're forgetting that our apartment complex has a gym, mr jake,” you walk towards him, an unexpected rise in your heartbeat, “last week.”

“was i on the bench press?”, jake smirks, before catching his lower lip between his teeth and flicking it outside. you don't know what he's trying to do with all that, but he is sure to make your heart beat faster.

“treadmill”, you correct him.

the proximity between you and your striking neighbour increases by the windowsill, where both mild sun rays and inquisitive pairs of eyes can peek in, but it's something that doesn't bother you. after all, sim jake is only here to help you, just a helping hand for you when you've decided to clean and rearrange your apartment.

you don't know how the helping part is kept aside for now, confused at how jake is staring into your eyes, a hesitant but longing step closer to you. he should've been helping you with the bookshelf now, stacking in the new books to the according racks.

but right now he is busy igniting new feelings to your heart.

jake is too close for your own good, left hand threatening to close in around your waist and pull you into such a proximity he has only imagined. he could smear that pink lip gloss of yours now, his hand on you and his mind all dizzy, it would be a perfect weekend for him.

and as he's about to accomplish that, when you swiftly glide out of his imaginary hold on you and pick up the new books to be kept in place, breaking your poor neighbours’ heart.

“that's too much work for a pretty girl like you,” jake was fast, you have to give it to him, well not only in pace but also incredibly fast to make you squeal inside, “i'll take them from ‘ya.”

“you know i can do that myself”, you scoff, leaning against the bookshelf as he snatches the basket full of new books, arranging them.

“yes ma'am”, jake sings, pulling out another giggle from you while he pushes the new books between the old ones, “but i'd rather do it myself you know? wouldn't want your arms all tired.”

you had enough time, strength and leisure to stroll around your apartment and bedeck it, a change of scenario and colours for your eyes, a break from the dust collecting shelves eyeing you from their constant spot. you definitely didn't need another flirty neighbours’ help who could easily pull you into a scandal.

five months ago when you first moved in here, you didn't expect a cheeky, lovestruck neighbour, jake, to knock on your doors every weekend. and even if you're not willing to talk, his flirting skills would find his way to your smile anyway.

so jake became a regular face to witness, a regular voice to hear and a regular touch that you wished would linger for one more second.

“nosy neighbours”, jake reads out the title of the last book on his hand, “ouch, am i a nosy neighbour?”, a dramatic hand over his heart and a fake pout made you giggle harder.

“shut up jake”, you roll your eyes, hitting his arm.

“actually i'd like to borrow this book from ya”,

“you read books too?”, you tilt your head in confusion, an eyebrow raised at his request.

“are you surprised?”, jake giggles, taking a step closer to you as he secures the book in his hand.

“of course i am”, you let out a hearty laugh, hands flying up to your face to cover your flushed cheeks, “i thought all you do is flirt with women and lure them into your apartment”, you tease.

“that's not very nice, ms y/n,” and he goes back to his unnecessary honorific and a dangerous smirk tugging at his lips, making you swoon, “i’m hurt to know you think of me like that.”

jake leans in until he's face to face with you, his hot breath tickles your cheeks and makes them bloom from inside. he's at it again, his infamous grin while he stares you down, his rosy lips are too close to yours.

“the only woman i want to take home is you”, he whispers, pushing a strand of your hair behind your ears. his eyes wander about to face, to your eyes to lips to neck to your eyes again, “do they kiss in the book?”

“no spoilers”, you whisper back.

“fair enough”, jake scoffs, his lips hovering over the corner of yours as he pulls you in by your waist, until you have to create a barricade between you two by softly pressing your palms against his chest. but jake doesn't really gives you what you want, he teases you, grazing his lips over the corners of yours and pressing a light peck on your cheek before pulling back.

he leaves you blushing and stunned, which he likes and smiles at.

“o-ok now i have a lot of work,” you hurriedly grab jake’s hand and begin to drag him towards the door.

“aww are you shooing me away, y/n?”, jake whines, walking the few steps to the exit on his own, “i was just having fun!”

“i wasn't”, you bite your lips, suppressing in a chuckle as you look at him, standing on your threshold.

“oh? is that so?”, jake's eyes widens, he's loving this little act of yours.

as if you didn't turn butter under his touch just a few seconds ago.

“yeah! now off you go jake, i have a lot of things to do”, you try to send him off, lightly pushing on his chest and he's quick to grab your hand.

he brings it near his lips and kisses the inside of your wrist, looking up at you he says, “why don't you come over someday? return my favour maybe?”

all the blood in your body rushes up to your ears and cheeks and you stand still before him, not knowing what to do when you slowly retract your hand. he's intoxicating and he knows it, even if you don't visit him, jake already has an excuse to return his borrowed book to see your pretty face again. maybe you should give it a thought, give him a chance? after all, you can't deny the fact that he does make your heart beat faster.

you clear your throat, “i'll think about it.”

jake chuckles, “you better, ‘want to lure in my favourite pretty girl”, he winks at you, a final blow before he quickly pecks your cheek again, “9:30, i'll be waiting, gorgeous.”
