Song Review: James Taylor - “Summertime Blues” (Live, July 18, 1979)

James Taylor overdid the rock ’n’ roll schtick when performing “Summertime Blues” in ’79.

Just released on professional video shot July 18 in Ohio, it finds Taylor being awkwardly cheesy instead of cooly authentic. Dude can rock; but he doesn’t accomplish the mission this time as he declares:

You can’t use the car and you fuckin’ make me sick

A rare misstep from the Walkin’ Man.
