“Guys Amaterasu has a human form” oh yeah??? Moon Tribe wolf forms upon ye
Tumblr media
Made this one a while back, and wasn’t planning to make any of the others afterwards. Something happened though. They all get to have two tails because it looks cool and otherworldly and I said so.
Tumblr media
I used to despise this girl. Mostly because I found her digging minigame to be impossibly annoying. But now that I’m decent at the game and did a little digging into the mythology behind Kaguya, I’ve grown a lot more fond of her. I like to think she was close friends with Waka, and he knew exactly what she was, but didn’t tell her because he felt she would be happier not knowing (gods know he would…)
Tumblr media
An absolute goober. Kurow was my favourite partner in Okamiden, and the second I laid eyes on him I thought oh. Now THIS is where the plot begins. Poor kid, I think his character arc was one of the best handled. I intentionally made his patterns similar to Waka’s, just simpler, but he gets to be yellow because I finally figured out how to make it work and he deserves to have features completely unique to him. Also, his tails are shorter than the others’ because he’s younger. I think he’d be just a bit bigger than Chibiterasu.
Tumblr media
The fourth and last Moon Tribe member we see in-game. Man really got the short stick of life huh. I feel like he could’ve been a grandfather figure to Kurow if things had gone better.
Also he has a floating sword hat. Yeah.

HQ AND PREGNANCY/GIVING BIRTH
Characters | Various x Fem!Reader
WC | 1.1k
A/N | Been wanting to write these hc’s for a while, I miss writing hc’s honestly this was a lot of fun! I honestly think all the HQ charas would be amazing parents and be extremely supportive!! Not proof read so I apologise if you find mistakes :) (also I have zero experiences of pregnancy so if anything is inaccurate thats why :3)
TW | Pet names (babe and baby), soft soft soft!
Tip-Jar☕️ | Navi | Karasuno Masterlist
Tumblr media
Is the most supportive partner they could be. Reading books about childbirth the minute you find out that you are expecting. Wants to support you in whatever way they can, literally lets you do nothing.
“Babe I am only 4 weeks pregnant, I can stand for longer than 10 minutes without you attempting to carry me”
Super endearing at first (although after a while you have to remind them you are okay and they are getting annoying), you love how excited they are to help you through the pregnancy.
They have been low key planning this since they met you, even have an amazon wish list specifically for if you ever put up with them long enough to have kids.
Packages come every week or so, full of different things for the nursery etc. They are constantly shoving their phone or laptop into your face to ask opinions on different things.
You both design the nursery together and it is IMMACULATE, although they won’t let you lift anything they do let you paint the walls.
And when the time finally comes for you to be rushed to the hospital, they have been prepared since day one. The emergency bag is grabbed and you are being hurried out the door to the hospital.
Doesn’t leave your side at any moment, helps you through contractions and lets you squeeze their hand as much as you need. Talking to you the whole time, letting you know that they are there and how good a job you are doing.
When the baby comes they are speechless, lost at the site of the small bundle of joy that you nurtured inside of you for 9 months. It makes them fall deeper in love with you.
And their child? The minute they get to hold the tiny bundle of joy, their heart is the fullest it's ever been. And all the pain you just went through is suddenly worth it to see the look on your partner's face, as they hold your joint creation.
(they definitely cry at some point)

Tumblr media
Is much more nervous when they find out, of course they are excited but are they prepared? Absolutely not. But they don’t have time to worry about it now because it's happening.
They are trying their hardest, despite them being extremely anxious and not exactly hiding it that well. Sometimes forget that things are going to be slightly different as time progresses.
Sometimes you have to prompt them to help you with certain things, such as buying things for the nursery etc. They let you pick the aesthetic for the nursery and struggle to understand why you want the nursery to be so picturesque, after all it's meant to be a practical room.
“Do we really need a rocking chair?”
“But it will look cute and it will be helpful!”
You are going to have to tell them to help you if you are struggling, they will definitely forget that you aren’t meant to be lifting heavy things etc. Not because they don’t want to help you (because trust me they do) but sometimes they just need a little nudge. Although they immediately apologise with promises of a foot rub that evening.
They may be oblivious to certain things, but when you are both cuddled up on an evening, their arms tightly around you. Hands running over your bump affectionately, whispers of the future and what you will do when there are three of you. That's when you know that everything will be worth it.
The one thing they do well is the emergency bag for the hospital, it has double of everything you may need. They are almost over prepared for the situation by the time it comes. The car has been packed for weeks with everything you may need for the inevitable trip to the hospital.
Extremely unsure of how to help you when you are in labour, not sure if anything they are saying is actually helpful. End up staying fairly quiet, with the occasional kiss to your forehead to remind you they are still here and that you are doing a good job.
Allows you to squeeze their hand until they can’t feel it anymore.
When they see the baby for the first time, the smile on their face is one you wish to commit to memory forever. They definitely cry the first time they hold them. Promising that they would do anything and everything in their power to protect you and your child until they die.
USHIJIMA, Kageyama, Asahi, Yamaguchi, YACHI, Aone, Kenma, Yamamoto, KYOTANI, Kinnoshita.
Tumblr media
Overly excited from the minute you find out. This person is like a child at Christmas all of a sudden. They are golden retrievers anyway, but the thought of you carrying their child and becoming a parent is thrilling.
Points out baby clothes and accessories when you are out shopping, constantly trying to sneak them into the cart.
“Baby we don’t need that many nappies yet, we still have 7 and a half months.”
“No harm in being prepared!”
Instantly wants to get to work making the house baby proof, child proof and everything in between. Which you let them, you can’t say no when they are excitedly picking out colours for the nursery.
Although occasionally you have to pull in the reins, mainly to stop them spending all your joint savings on things that you don’t really need. You have to direct them slightly to make sure you are getting everything you need.
Sometimes they send you puppy dog eyes and then you really can’t say no. You end up with a lot of stuff to say the least, some of it useful and some of it less so.
And you both have a BLAST decorating the nursery, them being so playful means it takes twice as long and can get messy pretty quickly. But you eventually get a working nursery, it's extremely cute and feels like the perfect combination of both of you.
They can also be overly protective, not letting you do things by yourself. Which can get annoying especially in the early months, but you know they mean well. As the months go by it becomes less annoying and more endearing, because you actually need to rest.
Also extremely prepared for the hospital, has like 3 bags full of things. Almost panics when you shout for them to grab the bags and get ready to head to the hospital.
Has to calm themselves down on the drive while also trying to calm you down. When you eventually get there, he tries to talk to you the whole time, reassuring you, and helps you through small breathing exercises you both learnt on the run up.
Can’t stop crying the minute you give birth, is just so in love with you and their baby. Can’t stop staring in awe as they watch you cradle the newborn in your arms.
BOKUTO, Atsumu, Hinata, KOGANEGAWA, Terushima, Saeko, Goshiki, Lev, Nishinoya, OIKAWA.

Bokuto Koutarou is an influence to many if not all young volleyball players including the son of Y/N, a single mother who tries her hardest to make ends meet while providing the perfect life for her son. When Bokuto offers to help her out at the request of her son, how else is it supposed to play out?
Chapter 14: Mistakes and Misery
Tumblr media
“I’m what?” Y/N snaps anxiously as she turns to look at the TV which has started to broadcast photos of her, Kaoru and Bokuto at the zoo and in other miscellaneous places around Osaka.
This couldn’t be happening! Yes they’d been out and about but Bokuto had been undercover!
Right?
Apparently from the close up photo of Bokuto with his arm around Y/N while Kaoru was playing with the Lions behind the glass of their enclosure, it was clear as day who she and Kaoru were out with. His signature salt and pepper hair was basically bursting out of his hat and the golden eyes that Y/N was obviously lost in were out of the designer sunglasses that he’d been wearing earlier. As she examined the news casting on the TV, Suga spoke out from behind her.
“I didn’t realize you guys were so close…” Suga spoke softly. Y/N turned to look at him with a guilty look flowing over her face as she saw that Suga’s had dropped into a near tears look.
“It was just one outing… Kaoru wanted to go to the zoo and Bokuto offered.” Y/N tried to explain but Suga just covered his face with his hands as he relaxed back on the sofa.
“But you’re kissing him. On TV. So why am I here?” Suga asked, almost accusatory, from behind his hands. The TV was now showing a photo of her head on his shoulder and his lips on her forehead. Y/N stayed silent as she tried to find an explanation that would explain both the kiss with Bokuto, and why she was kissing Suga now.
Sugawara moved his hands to look at Y/N. From her stance by the TV she could see the flood of emotions channeling through his body as he stood up, walked to the door and started putting his shoes on.
“Wait Suga please, I really didn’t mean for this to happen!” She pleaded trying to find a way to apologize.
“You didn’t mean to kiss him or you didn’t mean for me to find out?” He asked looking back at her.
“I didn’t mean to get so close to him!” She said harshly.
“But you don’t regret kissing him. Or you do and you used me to try and forget him.” Suga snapped, his face growing redder as he grew angrier.
“You might not have your feelings figured out, but I do. And I care a lot about you! I have since you walked into my classroom with Kaoru for the first time!” Suga confessed angrily. Y/N shut her mouth and looked at him blankly as he continued.
“I thought you were so pretty and you’re one of the kindest people I’ve met. Not to mention that Kaoru warmed up to me immediately and only told me more about how hard you work to keep him happy. And I couldn’t help but feel like you needed someone to make you happy as well.” He said as his hands clenched into fists. “I thought you cared about me between you staying after school to talk, inviting me over, kissing me on your couch but now I’m just embarrassed and frankly a little hurt. I need to go.”
There was nothing else to be said as Suga stepped out the door and walked to his car. Y/N shut the door slowly before sliding down to the floor in a heap crying.
She curled up with her knees pulled to her chest as the tears flowed. This usually comforting position only brought her back to her high school days which only made her cry more. These mixed feelings for Bokuto who was filling that role of a protector, and for Suga who was filling the role of a romantic. Two things that Y/N never really got when she was with Taichi and two things that she was afraid of receiving.
Flashback
“I thought we would be going out this weekend?” Y/N asked her boyfriend as they ate the meal she had made for the two of them. Taichi shrugged as he opened his mouth for another bite of the fried rice that Y/N was feeding him.
“We have the Tokyo Saturday practice game babe.” He explained nonchalantly before sitting up. Taichi grabbed her face gently and tucked her chin up so that her face was looking at him. “But you’ll be there for me right? My pretty little cheerleader?”
“I can't… I have to help my parents with their restaurant on Saturday…” Y/N said softly. Taichi sighed and took his hands away from her face in frustration. The little reward of affection quickly stolen from her like a punished animal.
“Really? You can’t not work for one weekend and come cheer me on?” He spat as he stood up. Y/N opened her mouth to argue but Taichi had already started walking away.
“Wait where are you going? Lunch is almost over!” She called out to him, but once she saw him hold up his puff bar she knew he wouldn’t be coming back until he had calmed down. She just sighed to herself and took her phone to text her parents that no she couldn’t work this weekend. Because they would be ok right? If she took off for one weekend?
When Taichi came back she gave him a weak smile and showed him the texts from her parents approving of her going to Tokyo with him for his game. He smiled and ruffled her hair happily as they finished up their lunch.
The scene changed into another memory that was even less pleasant than the first...
“Are you fucking kidding me?”
“N-no I took a test last week, and another test today… I can take an-”
“No fuck that. Shit fuck fuck fuck!” Taichi rubbed his face with his hands and groaned in frustration causing Y/N to tremble. Her hands which held the most recent pregnancy test were shaking and she stepped backwards to find a seat.
“Don’t back away from me! I’m not gonna hurt you!” Taichi snapped. Y/N shook her head as she sat down on a kitchen chair.
“N-no I just-I just wanted to sit down!” She tried to explain. Taichi just rolled his eyes and stood up, beginning to pace back and forth.
“You’re not keeping it.” He stated finally after what felt like forever. Y/N looked up at him with tears in her eyes.
“What?”
“You. Are. Not. Keeping. It. End of story. You won’t be a teen mom and I sure as HELL won’t be a teen dad.” Taichi spat growing more and more frustrated. Y/N shook her head.
“We’ll graduate in a few months and no one will know! Please, I don't want to get rid of our baby!” She pleaded with him but all Taichi did was kneel down in front of her taking her hands in his.
“Please Y/N. My love. My pretty little cheerleader. We can’t raise a baby. Why don’t you understand that.” He begged as he rubbed his hands up and down her thighs.
“I have a good amount of money saved up from work- and I’m not going to college! I could-”
“No Y/N. I’m calling the doctor and we’re getting rid of it.” Taichi snapped before storming off to the other room. Y/N bent over and began to cry into her hands as she cradled her abdomen where the baby would grow.
Y/N moved her hands to hold her belly once again. She felt so very small in this moment and wished that she hadn’t invited Suga over, that she hadn’t accepted Bokuto’s help, and that she hadn’t agreed to sleeping with Taichi during their senior year. Maybe her life wouldn’t be so fucked up if she had just stopped and thought about her actions.
“Momma?”
Y/N looked up to see Kaoru holding one of his stuffed animals rubbing his eyes. She wiped her tears away and opened her arms for Kaoru to come cuddle with her.
“What are you doing awake baby?” She asked as he cuddled into her chest.
“Wan' some water…” Kaoru yawned. Y/N smiled gently and kissed the top of his head. She changed her mind. If anything good came out of her relationship with Taichi, it would have to be their absolutely beautiful son.
“Come on, I’ll get you some water and then you can sleep with mommy tonight.” Y/N said as she slowly picked herself up off the floor and guided Kaoru to the kitchen for his drink. Once he was satisfied with the water she gave him, she brought him back to her room and tucked him into one side of the bed before crawling into the other side.
“I love you mommy.” Kaoru said before he drifted off to sleep, Y/N kissed his forehead one more time before falling asleep cuddling him into her own body.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, across the city, Taichi was scrolling through his phone reading all of the nasty comments and gossip articles that were emerging due to his and Amelie’s meddling. Everything was going according to plan. Y/N would soon be back under his control and he would get to spend some quality time with his son.
His real son that is. This whole “Amelie” thing was beginning to get a bit old and besides, she needed to go back to America soon with her kid.
“You know, I don’t really understand why you wanted me to play the role of your new wife. Why couldn’t you just say that I was your best friend or something? That would have made this all the more believable. Shoji doesn’t even look like you.” said the woman from behind him. They were currently in one of the nicer penthouse suites in Osaka while the rest of their scheme came into fruition.
“Because I needed her to feel the resentment of another woman in order to make her think that she was so unlovable and unattractive that only I could possibly love her. Then she’d come crawling back to me and I could finally have her back.” He explained continuing to scroll through his phone.
“Yeah I guess. But like what’s so special about her? Like why do you want her so badly?” Amelie asked as she sat down. She had just appeared out of the shower and was dressed only in a towel.
“She’s the perfect little play thing. Completely obedient and so weak willed she’ll do everything I ask of her. I would be waited on hand and foot just to keep me happy.” Taichi explained. “Not to mention she’s so pretty when she cries. It drives me fucking wild.”
“Yeah yeah, so you just want your trophy wife right? Are you really ready to settle down?” Amelie asked as she shook her hair out and began to get dressed. Taichi let out a bark for a laugh and turned to face her.
“No, of course not. But if I can’t have her-” Taichi said, pausing to light a cigarette and to take a puff, “-then no one can.”
On the other side of Osaka, Bokuto was staring at his phone that was flooded with notifications from Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, SMS messaging, etc. His manager had just let him off the phone after screaming at him for going out with some “nobody”, which had greatly angered him, and not taking his responsibility as a pro athlete seriously.
Despite all of the notifications, there wasn’t one from Y/N. He had left several messages and sent several texts ranging from warning her about the impending article leak to rambling apologies trying to tell her that he really had no idea that the pictures were taken.
But everything had been left unanswered, or delivered. It was starting to worry him… Was she ok? Did she see everything? What if something had happened to her because of the media?
He paced around his apartment trying to calm down. He attempted an at home workout because there was absolutely no way he could go to his regular gym with all the hocum that was about. But working out only made him angrier and more pent up.
Everytime his phone buzzed he would drop whatever he was working on to check and see if it was Y/N but it never was. Eventually he got so frustrated that he did what he did every time he got overwhelmed and needed help. Call Akaashi.
Thankfully Akaashi picked up his phone.
“Akaashi I fucked up big time.”
“Yes I figured that if you were calling me close to 11pm at night.” A tired voice said from the other end of the phone. Bokuto sighed and wiped his face off with a towel from his workout.
“Akaashi I’m serious I fucked up more than I usually do and I don’t know if I can fix it. I don’t know if anyone can fix it!” He whined as he began to bite his nails. It was a habit he had nearly kicked after graduating highschool but had come back in full force once he started college.
“Don’t chew at your nails Bokuto… And yes I saw the news. I thought you weren’t dating this woman though?” Akaashi asked.
“We’re not dating, I’m just helping her with her bills is all but I think I really like her. More than I ever liked anyone! Ever! She’s so pretty and she’s like the nicest person I know and I don’t know but I want her!” Bokuto tried to explain as he walked out of his home gym and into the kitchen. Akaashi listened to what Bokuto was trying to say before chiming in with his two cents.
“Listen. You need to relax. Nothing is going to be solved by worrying about it now, especially because the news is already out there. Your manager already called and you know that they’re working on a way to fix it or at least mellow the situation. Did you reach Y/N?” Akaashi asked.
“No she never answered. I’m really worried about her!”
“Did you call her like within the last couple hours?”
“Yeah!”
“She was probably putting her kid to sleep and going to bed herself.”
“Oh.”
Akaashi sighed over the phone and Bokuto realized how it might not have been the smartest decision to call her repeatedly.
“Look, why don’t you go ahead and take a shower, and go to bed. When you wake up hopefully Y/N will have answered you or at least let you know that she and Kaoru are ok. But you really shouldn’t be stressing about this more than you are right now.” Akaashi advised him. Bokuto nodded to himself, agreeing with everything that Akaashi was saying.
“Yeah. Yeah ok. Ok I can do that.” He said, placing his hand on his hip. “Thanks Akaashi, you’re really the best.”
“Of course Bokuto-san. Have a good night.” Akaashi said before hanging up the phone. Bokuto was now standing in the kitchen trying to think about what he could do. But maybe Akaashi was right, maybe he just needed to go to bed. He dragged his feet to the shower and showered off quickly before hopping into bed.
As he drifted to sleep, he wrapped his arms around a pillow wishing that instead of the inanimate object, that Y/N was with him instead. So that he could wipe away her worries and fears of everything that was happening, keeping her and Kaoru safe and happy.
Tumblr media
Suga had just gotten home and was currently sitting down in the shower letting the hot water wash over him. Everything had been going so well but Bokuto’s stupidity had screwed everything up for the silver haired teacher.
Suga wiped his eyes as he thought back to the last couple events of the evening. If the TV hadn’t been on would he have been able to confess to Y/N in a better way? Not that he was trying to think with his other head but maybe he could have been holding Y/N during the night and relishing in her beauty during the morning. There could have been more romance which is what he wanted to give her.
He slowly turned the water off and managed to drag himself out of the shower, barely drying off before flopping down in his bed. He noticed that there was a notification on his phone and his heart involuntarily jumped thinking maybe it was Y/N. Yes he was very mad at her but that didn’t mean he wanted to completely ignore her.
But instead it was his group chat with Daichi and Asahi. The text was from Daichi asking how his date went. All Suga could muster up was a thumbs down and a wonky frowny face before he turned his phone off and lay on his back to stare at the ceiling as he began to think.
Maybe he pushed too far… From their conversations after school, Y/N had confessed to Suga that she still felt as though she had very fragile emotions. He had told himself that he would go as slowly as possible in order not to scare her. She was like a scared little kitten and he wanted to slowly coax her out of the corner and into his arms. But at the same time it really wasn’t his fault. Heck he was even a part of the problem since he had encouraged Kaoru to write the letter, and he’d helped by sending the letter!
All Suga could do was sigh and try to fall asleep but he was now regretting his decision to run away from her after they started to fall out. Besides, it really wasn’t her fault either. Bokuto was just easily recognizable and he was bound to be noticed regardless of where they had gone.
It was all very confusing and his emotions were still running high. But maybe after a nights sleep, he might feel better

Haikyuu Thoughts (Only Ten Episodes In And I Already Have Four Faves)
Hoo boy, I am asexual tactile garbage we all know this right? That I will cling to just about anything as long as the character is compelling, makes me laugh, or any of the above strictly in that order. With that being said, this is the fastest that I've garnered three husbandos and one platonic bestie in the span of ten episodes of knowing these characters. That being said, one of the husbandos I don't know a whole lot about and seems to be the antagonist of the main series for the moment so there won't be much about him. But with all that said let's get right to it! I'll continue to update this thread with more of it in the future letting you know if anybody slips from their spot or another gets added. So far, I have not ever had more than one husbando in a show so this is the first time that I remember being here in Haikyuu Hell as I have lovingly dubbed it.
I say that we start off with platonic and work our way up! I feel like my best friend in the canon of the show would hands down be Yu Nishinoya. I love him, so much. He just seems like to me the type that works the hardest due to all the bruises that we see him with when he comes back from his suspension. Watching him play volleyball is something that never fails to amaze me. He's constantly around the ground and making sure that the ball doesn't hit the ground, since that's the libero's job but I love his dedication. This is what we're working with, since I haven't known him for very long but just look at this smile-
Tumblr media
(I had a better plan of him smiling with one of my other husbandos that we'll see later on down this list but Hulu was being a bitch and wouldn't let me take screenshots.) I think that Noya would be my best friend because it's a contrast in personality. I've been told on countless occasions that I work way too hard and that I would feel much less anxiety if I just relaxed and something tells me that Noya would be the perfect boi for that job.
The first emotional attachment that I made was to the first character that really helped Hinata. That would be the vice president of the volleyball club Koshi Sugawara or Suga as the club seems to call him more often than not. Suga is the sweetest person in the show in my personal opinion. He is always willing to help out anybody who is needing of it. I think that if anyone of the main group is the mom friend it's him. He's always just that one tired mom who loves her kids but they exhaust him like nobody's business (then again if I had to be on the same team as Noya and Tanaka I'd probably be in the same boat LMAO baby I'm sorry). He's also a badass setter too! When you actually see him in action when he works with Noya and Asahi in the episode that I just finished I was in awe of how good of a setter he was. I just think that he's the sweetest thing imaginable and I love how he isn't even mad that they have Kageyama on the team. Usually, this type of character would come off as petty since his position is kind of in jeopardy but he'll willingly go out of his way to help Hinata and Kageyama. Honestly, I just absolutely adore Suga. If any of these three husbandos were to be scrapped leaving only one it would be a really tricky decision but I would pick Suga.
Tumblr media
(I love this baby's character design too his lil mole reminds me of my own that I have on my upper lip.)
Alright, we got the serious one out of the way that doesn't even remotely fit into my typical type. You probably knew that this was coming since I already briefly mentioned him when I talked about Suga, but if anybody makes me laugh until my sides are absolutely aching who's personality just is completely one hundred percent crackhead that I grew an immense emotional attachment to it's Ryunosuke Tanaka. This is probably going to get a lot of head scratches but HEAR ME OUT. Before you judge me hear me out. I feel like he's just a really funny character, but more than that he's an incredible senpai and friend to Noya, Hinata and Kageyama. I mean he gives off one hundred percent lazy boi vibes but he still got up at five in the morning so that the first years could practice in the actual gym. I love that for him and it told me a lot about his personality. He will fight anybody who insults his friends, there's a reason why a lot of the opposing teams hear that they have a delinquent on the team. If anybody dares to insult Hinata they will have a very angry Tanaka coming after them at full speed to defend his favorite first year. I thought that in general that it said a lot about his personality. That he might be a flirt but, much like Noya, he's an insanely hard worker, good player, and does whatever it takes to defend the first years on his team.
Tumblr media
(Can I also say that their friendship is Bromance material 101. Like I love their friendship SO much it's so funny and just top tier all around would be best friends with both of them just for the laughs.)
This last one is going to be a lot shorter because to be honest, I don't know a whole lot about him other than he's pretty and he looks to be a goofball with his team 👉🏻👈🏻. I have not seen much from Aoba Johsai but umm I really, really caught the feels almost instantly for Toru Oikawa. I don't have much reasoning, because again I have only seen him in one episode but he already became instantly added to this list. I know that he isn't an entirely bad person and that he's a goofball around his team. I already think that he proves to be a formidable opponent and I can't wait to see more of their rivalry and hopefully see more of Toru in the process.
Tumblr media
(He is SO pretty somebody send help. I can't help but halfheartedly blame my boyfriend at this point because this can't be solely my fault.)
Thank you for listening to today's episode of God Dot nobody cares about your husbandos or how pretty they all are. I can't say that we'll be back to regularly scheduled programming anytime soon because I'm planning on binging this show today, tomorrow, and Sunday.

Azumane Asahi still is shocked. In his mind it makes sense. Things between him and Nishinoya had gone awry. It definitely wasn’t a fight they could come back from easily, and he knew that. But today felt different, as he woke up.
For starters, he wasn’t awoken early by an alarm. Instead, he gradually awoke around an hour later than the alarm would’ve gone off. Then, he realized the bed felt colder than normal. Once he snapped the pieces together, he sighed. “Oh right. Noya left.” The tall man mumbles defeatedly, scratching at his cheek. A glance around the room confirms that last night wasn’t a bad dream, that Nishinoya Yuu had walked out of his life.
With a sigh, Asahi gets to his feet. “He probably went to Tanaka’s.” He muses as he walks towards the bathroom, frowning when he notices that even Noya’s shampoo is missing. “Wow.” Is all he manages to say as he starts to brush his teeth.
During that time he wakes up more and more, checking to see exactly how much Nishinoya took with him. If it was everything, he probably couldn’t fix this. If he left a few things, it would take awhile to fix it. If he had left the majority of his things, it was probably going to be easy to patch this up.
After he finished brushing his teeth he looked around their bedroom, checking everything possible before coming to the realization. “He took it all.” Asahi mutters, defeat present in his voice. That settled it for him, that this was over. There was no way he would ever get Nishinoya Yuu back.
As the revelation sets in, the smell of coffee wafts through the air from the kitchen. “I know you’re up in there.” The voice calls, and Asahi sighs, wandering outside the bedroom. The last thing he expected was Sawamura Daichi and Sugawara Koushi standing in his kitchen. “It’s that bad, huh?” Asahi asks the pair to get their attention, his shoulders slumped inwards.
“What happened?” Sugawara asks, walking towards his friend, but Asahi barely knows himself. “I really don’t know. He wanted to travel to Italy,  but I can’t take my sewing machine overseas easily, and things just went down from there.” He explains, gladly taking the mug Daichi offers to him with a hard pat on the back that causes Asahi to jostle the mug and spill some on the floor.
Suga sighs, grabbing a rag to clean the coffee off the floor. “Is the situation fixable?” Daichi asks, and Asahi shakes his head. “No. He took everything of his. I’d assume he’s staying with Tanaka. Wasn’t it Tanaka who told you after all?” Asahi shoots back, practically spitting the last few words. The instant they leave his mouth the anger drains away and he sits down, hands covering his face. “I’m sorry.” He mumbles quietly.
Suga and Daichi share a look before standing on either side of Asahi and resting their hands on his back. “It isn’t your fault. You’re going through a lot.” Suga says, hand rubbing the tall man’s back gently. “Tanaka did tell us, but only because he was worried about you. He also said to tell you that he agrees with your side of things. It isn’t your fault that you can’t take time off right now.” Daichi chimes in, smiling gently.
Asahi sighs. “I know. But I don’t think he’ll want to see me anytime soon.” He mumbles, feeling utterly defeated. If he knows anything about Noya, it’ll take a week before he realizes that his pride got in the way of him seeing clearly, and then another for him to figure out how to fix it. Therefore, Asahi has a week and a half to figure out how to fix this, as long as his guess is correct.
Part of him thinks that this week and a half will be hell. He and Noya were almost inseparable. Especially since Asahi works from home, having a room in their apartment dedicated to his sewing and designs. He ends up too lost in thought to notice Daichi and Suga putting a plate of food infront of him, eyes focused on the coffee inside of his mug. The two sigh, patting Asahi’s back at the same time.
“C’mon, Eat something. Suga and I have to go to work soon, but one of us will be back later to check on you.” Daichi says, being a little more gentle with the glass hearted man than usual today. Asahi nods, turning to look at them. “Thank you guys, you don’t have to worry so much.” He says, smiling faintly.
Suga only laughs at that, pulling both Asahi and Daichi into a hug. “As if! We’re here for you, Azumane. You can’t get rid of us, nor would you. You’d be too worried about offending us to ask us to go.” Suga teases, smiling at him. Daichi chuckles. “Yeah. One of us will be back later, we promise.Maybe we’ll even have a sleepover like the old days” He adds on, and Asahi sighs fondly.
“Okay, but nothing too crazy.” Asahi caves in, before pulling back. “Don’t let me make you late, i’ll be okay for now.” He reassures, shooing the pair towards the door. With laughter and teasing, Daichi and Suga leave with a promise to return later.
Once the door shuts, Asahi goes quiet again, taking in the odd silence of the house. He grumbles as he turns on a YouTube video to fill the quiet, sitting down to eat the breakfast made for him. His mood is broken by the smile on his plate, made from bacon and eggs. He snaps a photo on his phone, saving the memory for later, and quickly polishes off his plate.
Throughout the day, the silence in the house bugged him. Normally, Noya would be buzzing around the place before and after his practices. He usually had to ask for some quiet, and even then it wasn’t short lived. This silence was different though. It felt like a weight pushing down on his chest, like a crushing force or water poured over a roaring fire, extinguishing it instantly.
So, Asahi does what he does best, ignores it. Ignores the questions circling in his head, ignores the pressing silence, and turns on his sewing machine, letting the methodical noise fill the room.
After an hour, Asahi shuts off his machine, pressing his head into his hands. As he stares down at the blue fabric, dark stains start appearing. It takes him a moment to register that he’s crying, and even then he doesn’t move to wipe his eyes. He can’t find it in him to care.
Maybe he wasn’t the one for Nishinoya, but at least he tried his hardest. Pushed himself to make this work, fought for them. He knew Noya would do the same, but he was the one that walked away this time. Among the multitude of questions in Asahi’s head, one sticks out. “Will he come back if I fight for us?” The thing is, he doesn’t know the answer this time.

Title: Are you going up or down? Series: Leap of Faith Show: Haikyuu!! Pairing: Daichi/Sugawara Summary: Office AU in which Daichi and Suga after getting stuck in an elevator late after work become friends and other shenanigans  :D A/N: the first part made me fall in love with the setting and I had to follow up on that! Hope you enjoy it!
You can read Chapter 3 on AO3 if you want to! :)
When Suga walked in the open office area as the first one at around 6:30 in the morning, he was in a good mood. It was strange, since it was Monday, and he was excited to be at work. Maybe, probably, because of the prospect to interact with Daichi, at least via email.
Suga had made a decision that weekend. Daichi and he were friends, not really close yet but Suga wanted to work on that and if something between them will unfold, then he won’t be against it. But it didn’t have to. He was content for now.
He had turned on the light in the office and when he pushed his suitcase under his table, he turned on his small desk lamp as well. With a short glace over the desks, his eyes found the small slit beneath Oikawa’s door illuminated. He huffed in annoyance. His feet flew determinedly over the floor as he walked over and opened the door without knocking.
“Oikawa-senpai.” His trademark angelic smile was plastered on his lips. Oikawa didn’t even flinch before looking up, nose scrunched up and lips in a scowl.
“Suga-chan.” His voice was raspy as if he hadn’t slept at all. He probably didn’t. Suga sighed as he leaned against the door frame, arms folding loosely before his chest.
“You really need to go home and get a good amount of sleep, you know?” Suga couldn’t help but hear his own voice waver in concern. He had seen Oikawa work himself to the ground already and he was on his way to that point again. But Suga made it his mission to prevent exactly that. He really ought to keep a better eye on Oikawa.
“I slept”, came the short answer from Oikawa as he rolled his eyes once before they were fixed on his monitor again.
Suga pressed his lips together, exhaling slowly through his nose. His eyes scanned Oikawa’s office and saw a folded blanket on the small couch. Figured. He walked over to the desk, grabbed the empty coffee mug and walk outside again silently. He filled a glass with water, brought it back to Oikawa and tapped his knuckles against Oikawa’s forehead.
“You know I’m still here, right? If you have so much to do, give something to me as well. I still have some spare time.” He knew that Oikawa would still refuse to hand over some of his workload, but Suga was not about to back down. And if he had to pry some of Oikawa’s assignments from his cold, dead (or sleeping) hands.
Oikawa hummed non-committedly but at least took the glass, emptying it halfway. It was a small victory, Suga took it.
The rest of the morning until lunch was straight out of a horror movie. Each and every inbox was filled with new assignments that came in over the weekend, Suga and Yachi had their hands full to skim through them, assigning different jobs to their co-workers, informing new and old clients about current developments, and have their usual Monday meeting to discuss the tasks for the coming week.
It was already 2 p.m. when Suga finally had time to breath and his stomach was calling for his attention. Thankfully, past-Suga prepared some hearty lunch beforehand, acutely aware of the Monday rush. Suga pulled his old suitcase from under the desk, noticing that he probably needed a new one. It was already pretty worn, skid marks on every side, and the color fading in a more grayish tone. He sighed.
Grabbing his lunch box, he was about to walk over to their small kitchen/break room to warm up his lunch in the microwave, when the door to their office was opened and his eyes found Daichi’s eyes almost naturally.
A smile was on his lips before he could even think about it. “Daichi!”
Daichi mirrored his smile and strolled over to him. “Hello, Suga.” He lifted one hand in which he held a plastic bag with two food containers.
“I wasn’t sure, you didn’t reply, but are you up for lunch?” Daichi scratched the back of his head, a sheepish smile on his lips. It was adorable.
Suga blinked and leaned over to his monitor, opening his email program with a single click and scrolled through his emails. And there it was, an email from Daichi, left unread, with the subject “Lunch?”
“Oh my god!” Suga exclaimed and stood up straight. “I’m so sorry! I didn’t even see it.” He dropped his own lunchbox back on his desk. Take-out sounded so much better than his homemade food, he could still eat it for dinner anyway. “But, yeah, I’d love to.”
“Great! If not, I’d had too much food.” Daichi chuckled a little embarrassed. Suga shook his head.
“Don’t worry, I think you’d find someone who would help you with that.” Unsure of where to go, Suga stood a little awkward in front of his desk until Daichi motioned him with a short nod to follow him. Daichi lead them to the staircase and Suga thought for a second, they would actually eat on the stairs.
Daichi must have seen the look in his eyes and huffed out a laugh. “Do you know about the small roof where people smoke?” Suga blinked and nodded slightly.
“Yeah. But I don’t know …” he trailed off. Lunch between cigarettes was something he, in fact, didn’t need to experience. Apparently, his expression showed exactly what he was thinking, since Daichi laughed again, this time a notch more. He patted Suga on the back before his hand slid down to the small of his back, lingering for just a second before he went downstairs.
“There is a similar roof at the 21st floor but, I don’t know”, Daichi took a look over the shoulder to Suga who followed him, “it seems no one knows about it.” He finished a lot more quietly. Suga’s skin prickled. Not only on the small of his back where he still felt Daichi’s large hand, but also his cheeks and his hands and his ears.
“How come you know about it then?”, he asked, pushing the tingling feeling to the back of his mind.
“Well”, Daichi chuckled, “I kind of grew up in this building. I probably know every corner of this building.” They reached the 21st floor and instead of walking through the door to the hallway, Daichi lead Suga towards the fire exit.
Suga cocked his head but followed without question. Daichi pushed the door open, holding it for Suga, and he stepped through. It was just a small patch of roof, actually barely enough space for 3 people but completely open space. A metal railing closed off the edge of their small space and to their left, a ladder went down. They were faced directly by the sun, absolutely no shadow and Suga relished in the warmth.
“How did no one ever find this place? It’s incredible!” Suga hummed. He took two steps towards the railing and looked down. It was steep. And a long way down. For a moment he got dizzy and had to grab onto the railing a little tighter. He turned around to Daichi, leaning against the railing but still holding on to it with both hands.
Daichi was smiling at him warmly and just shrugged. “No idea. Maybe they actually follow the rules and don’t use the fire exit to smoke, for once.”
“Well, I don’t think anyone has a reason to use this fire exit.” Suga took another glance over the railing, following the ladder this time. It went down for about ten floors and ended on another small roof, but more spaced out than this one.
“Better for us.” Daichi grinned and held up the plastic bag. Suga beamed at him. They sat down with their backs against the railing, letting the sun warming them up. Daichi grabbed one of the food containers and handed it to Suga who eagerly took it. It was a small miracle his stomach wasn’t already growling out loud.
Suga opened the container and let out the tiniest gasp. “Daichi”, he whispered in awe. Alarmed, Daichi looked up and bit his lower lip.
“Not good? I wasn’t sure what you liked, just that it had to be spicy as-” “It’s perfect”, Suga interrupted Daichi’s ramble. He took in the brownish glistening tofu pieces sogging in the deep red sauce. “It’s my favorite, actually.”
Daichi let out a relieved hum. “Good.” Suga nudged his shoulder ever so lightly. For a few minutes they ate in silence, Suga relishing in the almost unbearable heat that pulsed over his tongue, in his mouth and down his throat.
“How was work this morning?” Daichi broke their comfortable silence. Suga made a face.
“It’s Monday, Daichi. What do you think?” He chuckled dryly but then shrugged. “The usual. Getting yelled at for being too slow by clients, discussing designs over and over again until we decide on the first draft yet again, making sure Oikawa doesn’t drop dead because of all the work and “incompetence” “, Suga did quotation marks in the air, “we showed today.”
Daichi arched an eyebrow. “That’s what he said?”
“Well, yeah”, Suga shrugged again, taking another spoonful and talked with his hand held in front of his mouth, “it’s not personal, we know that by now, but, well. It was pretty hectic today and we had a slow start and I think Oikawa didn’t leave the office over the weekend and he gets more stressed by the second.” Suga looked unfocused towards the door. It was conspicuously and everybody knew. But they couldn’t do more than to try their hardest to get some work off his shoulders. But they can do only so much.
“Sounds rough.” Daichi agreed and chewed on his bread roll that came along with his curry. Suga nodded.
“But don’t worry, I’ll get that fixed.”
“You?”
“What? Am I not reliable?” Suga turned to Daichi in mocked offence. “I’ll let you know, my peers and co-workers are well aware of my strength and unwavering stubbornness.”
“I’m sure, they are.” Daichi chuckled. “Don’t go breaking your pretty head with all your stubbornness.”
Suga felt his ears heat up and that was not because of the spice of his food. “Well, my pretty”, he purred, “head can take a lot of stubbornness before it breaks. Especially when it comes to Oikawa. That man is a disaster.”
“Aren’t we all?” Because Suga had turned back to his food as he spoke, he missed the slight blush on Daichi’s cheeks.
“Well, not me. I have my life together. Working almost 12 hours every day doesn’t leave much room for doing stupid stuff.” Suga coughed and jerked his head around it almost gave him whiplash. “N-not that I criticize your company or anything. Lately, it’s just a bit more-”
“Everything?” Daichi provided and hummed. He leaned his head against the railing, tapping his finger against his food container. “Don’t worry”, he said almost only as an afterthought, “you didn’t say anything wrong. And for the record”, he turned his head back to Suga who eyed him still a little warily, “I want you to be honest with me.”
Suga huffed out a small breath before forming another smile. “You bet I am, your highness.”
Daichi laughed. “Where did that come from?” Suga grinned at him.
“When your father is reigning this company with an iron fist as a king, it makes you the crown prince.” He shrugged nonchalantly. “I just want to be on your good side when you’re finally overthrowing your father.” Suga laughed and scrapped the last of his mapo tofu on his spoon.
“I hope you’re ready for an awful lot to stay on that side.” He raised his eyebrows and gave Suga an arrogant glance.
“Everything you ask me to do, my prince.” Suga mockingly bowed his head but couldn’t stifle the laugh that bubbled up. Daichi followed suit and within seconds they were laughing loudly, slightly hunched over, and invading each other’s spaces. Suga wiped a happy tear away and patted Daichi’s shoulder.
“We have to work on that.”
“What do you mean, ‘we’? Obviously, it’s you who has to work on taking me seriously.” Daichi tried to say deadpanned but he rather scoffed through the last tremors of his laugh.
“You tell yourself that.” Suga shook his head and sighed, finally leaning back. He tried not to think too much of Daichi's intense aftershave scent. Or the way, he could take a peek at Daichi’s collarbone since Daichi decided to not wear his tie and had the first two buttons undone, again. He evened out his breathing, trying to play with his plastic spoon as inconspicuously as possible.
“So”, he dragged out the ‘o’, “still have that spot on 4 p.m. on Wednesday open?”
Daichi blinked at him, mouth opening in confusion but then remembered his remark a while ago. He closed his mouth again, humming quietly. “Depends.” He settled on.
“On what?” Suga squinted his eyes and chanced a look at Daichi.
“Well”, Daichi made a vague gesture, “as you stated, I have a kingdom to overthrow, what business do you have to ask for my precious time?”
Suga pursed his lips and had to turn away to keep his composure. He turned back to Daichi, holding his stare with a straight face. “It is my duty to keep your well-being as high priority and, therefore, ask for your time to accompany me to an early cherry blossom viewing to keep your mind relaxed.”
Even though Suga kept his eyes locked with Daichi’s, he still saw the blush creeping on Daichi’s cheeks, and he found it utterly adorable.
“Sounds good.” Daichi blurted as his eyes widen just a fraction.
“So, it is reason enough?”
“Y-yeah.” Daichi finally averted his eyes, fumbling with his food container, putting it back into the plastic back. “Well, should I send you an e-mail to confirm our appointment?”
“Appointment.” Suga snorted but grinned, nonetheless. “Yes, please confirm my reservation.”
Daichi made a face at him even though his lips were stretched into a wide smile.
Their lunch break was over way too soon, hoewever, they felt refreshed and ready for the rest of the day. They both stepped back into the building, Suga following Daichi into the elevator even though it was only one floor. It meant just a few more seconds with Daichi. They said their goodbyes, Suga stepping out of the elevator and waited until the doors slid close again. He let out a sigh, fighting down the smile that threatened to split his face.
“Had a nice lunch?”
Suga’s head jerked up, meeting the eyes of the receptionist who nonchalantly sorted through some documents. Feeling his cheeks warm up, Suga cleared his throat.
“Uh, yeah. And you?”
“Nothing out of the usual.” Looking up through their down casted eyes, Suga could see the hint of a smug smile, making his face flare up even more.
“Well, uh, gotta go back to work.” Suga huffed, turning around on his heel and walking back into the office, feeling their eyes on his back.

Subject: A-J. Meeting \(º □ º l|l)/
Hey Daichi!
Just wanted to let you know that I’m heading over to A-J. right now! If I need anything, I’ll let you know. (And expect you to come flying to my rescue as you promised)
Yours, Suga
Subject: Re: A-J. Meeting \(º □ º l|l)/
Hello Suga,
Thank you for informing me. I’ll check my emails regularly and keep an eye out for your possible distress signal.
Good luck.
Regards, Daichi
Suga exhaled deeply after closing his email app in the cab he took to get to A-J.’s. He didn’t know what to expect at all. They still held on to their offer and Suga could only imagine how often he’ll have to turn them down today, just to get some work done. Though he expected some kind of professionalism of them, you never know, better be mentally prepared.
The cab turned into a parking spot right in front of their studio to drop Suga off who was a little awestruck when he stood in front of the building. J-Marketing was by no means not as impressive, but it was something else if it was not the building you were working in.
With another nod to himself, Suga finally mustered up the courage to walk up the outer stairs to the entrance, falling in line with all the other people that came in and out of it. Patiently Suga waited for his turn at the reception to introduce himself and his upcoming meeting with Kunimi.
The receptionist made a short phone call and told him that Kunimi will be here shortly, and he can sit down in the waiting area, e.g. an open space with the most expensive looking chairs he had ever seen. They weren’t really comfortable.
Suga was just adjusting his shirt and blazer when Kunimi came around the reception area to greet him.
“Sugawara-san, it’s a pleasure to finally meet in person. I’m sorry for the wait.” He extended his hand as he approached and Suga couldn’t help but notice the deep bags under his eyes despite his attempt  to cover them with make-up.
“I would hardly call that a wait, don’t worry, Kunimi-san. And likewise, thank you for having me. And please”, Suga shook his hand, “call me Suga, Sugawara sounds too formal.”
“As you wish, Suga-san.” Kunimi nodded and led him through the gates into the staff area and they rode the elevator up in silence. It kind of fueled Suga’s anxiety, he kind of hoped for a little bit of small talk to calm down his nerves but he didn’t feel like the one to start the conversation.
When the doors opened on their floor, Kunimi walked up ahead. “We first stop by Iwaizumi-san, our … lead designer”, Suga took up on the short hesitation, “who will supervise this project, to get to know each other. Then you’ll meet the rest of the team and we’ll start the briefing.”
“Sounds good to me.”
The first thing Suga, obviously, noticed when they entered the office area from the hallway that this company worked with the cubicle style work area. It took Suga a lot of self-control not to make a face. If not anything else, cubicles were a valid reason for him not to work for this company.
Kunimi walked up to the back of the room where two single offices were placed and entered one without knocking.
“Iwaizumi-san, I brought Sugawara-san.”
Suga entered and was greeted by a rather small office, where a single desk took up almost all the space and was overflowing with stacks of papers. Iwaizumi with his spiky hair looking up over the paper, put down the phone he was just talking into.
“Sugawara-san, nice to meet you.” His outstretched hand followed his words more like an afterthought and though the handshake was firm it was short. “I’m sorry for the mess. We got a lot of commissions coming in.”
“Oh, I don’t mind. We’re in the same business, remember?” Suga shot him a reassuring smile. He knew all too well how it felt like being swamped by work and having Oikawa waltzing over to give him a disapproving look when he didn’t work through all of them at once.
“Great. Okay, first things first”, Iwaizumi mumbled more to himself as he rounded the desk to step halfway out the door. “Kindaichi!”, he yelled, “come here!”
There was some shuffling to be heard and only seconds later another person, hair even higher spiked up than Iwaizumi’s, walked in. Both the newcomer and Iwaizumi bowed down deeply.
“I want to apologize formerly again for the behavior of my kouhai. Having an outburst and demand you work for us to your employer nonetheless was out of line. Please accept our utmost regret about that incident.”
“I am so sorry!” Kindaichi, Suga assumed, added.
Such a turn of event Suga didn’t expect in the least and was almost overwhelmed. “Please”, he held up his hands, “there is nothing to be sorry about. I feel flattered for someone to be so passionate about my work. I don’t mind. And my boss doesn’t either, for that matter”, Suga added for good measure. Good impressions and all that.
They both straightened back up, Kindaichi with an embarrassed flush on his cheeks and looking mortified. Iwaizumi, on the other hand, didn’t look that miffed and gave Kindaichi a smack on the back of his head.
“Oi, don’t make that face, it’s pathetic.”
“Iwaizumi-san!” His blush only depends as he looked over back to Suga from the corner of his eyes. “Please don’t embarrass me.” He added mumbling.
“It’s what you deserve. Your acting was, like I said, way out of line.”
“Uhhh”, Kindaichi’s gaze went back to the ground, pouting.
Suga’s smile didn’t waver. At first glance it seemed pretty chaotic and hostile, but all three of them radiated a great harmony, with Iwaizumi grounding them all.
“Kunimi probably already told you”, Iwaizumi continued, walking back to his seat, “though Kindaichi wasn’t in any position to make that offer, it was still meant to be brought up. Though more professional. Just keep that in mind.”
“Thank you, Iwaizumi-san, but-“ Iwaizumi held up one hand, interrupting Suga.
“I know, I know. Just keep that in mind is all I ask.”
“I will.” Suga nodded earnestly. And he didn’t lie about being flattered to be asked to work for them, so the least he could do was to give them an earnest answer after he saw them work. He didn’t expect his answer to change, not by a long shot, though.
He was then lead out of the small office, away from the cubicles where Iwaizumi picked some of them to come with them, to a conference room. They all sat down, both Kunimi and Sugawara next to Iwaizumi who remained standing and didn’t even wait for everyone to be seated, before starting. It followed a small round of introduction of their six headed team, including Sugawara. Iwaizumi as the senior lead designer and Kunimi as the project manager. Followed by Yahaba for conception, Kageyama for illustration and Kindaichi for the layout.
Iwaizumi had a simple presentation at the ready to explain their project which was for a billboard in the heart of the city for a new dating app. It will be an eye catcher for everyone in the city center and, therefore, a high paying job with lots of expectations. The billboard should stand out with its color but not be provocative and first and foremost not be distracting for traffic.
They all were given a handout with the most important bullet points this project had to adhere to.
“Is it possible to try out this app?” Suga asked as he skimmed through the list, one hand at his chin as ideas came pouring in.
“Pardon?” Iwaizumi looked over to him.
“The app”, Suga blinked, “can we see it to get an understanding of how it works. Just having the general color palette and knowing in theory what's it about gets us so far.”
“Someone is desperate”, Yahaba chuckled with a smirk on his lips.
“Wha-“ before Suga could say anything, Kunimi had already threw his elbow against Yahaba’s rip cage. Ignoring Yahaba’s violent cough and wheezing, Kunimi nodded toward Suga.
“That would definitely be possible. We were provided a demo version. The final version will be out on the market in three weeks, until then the billboard had to be up.”
“Three weeks?!” Suga already forgot his embarrassment over Yahaba’s remark. “We have three weeks, did I hear that correctly?” His eyes shot over to Iwaizumi who nodded.
“Time is of the essence here.”
Suga leaned against the backrest of the chair, already jutting down the overtime he will have to pull for this project. He won’t have any ground to reprimand Oikawa for staying late in the office, either. They’ll have to take turns to sleep on the couch.
“Alright”, Suga huffed. No need to fret over spilled milk. He’ll get this job done and his client will be more than pleased with the result.
Kunimi send him the file for the app via email and followed the short instruction to get the demo version running. Right when he opened the app, Suga liked the colors and design right away, giving him some hope he’ll be able to come up with something nice. He clicked through the various settings and created a fake account to see what options and features this dating app had. And what it brought to the table in comparison to all the other dating apps that already existed.
It had been a few years when Suga tried out dating apps which he regretted after the first evening with getting a lot of unsolicited dick picks and didn’t use them anymore so he was more than curious how they improved. All the more he was pleasantly surprised to see that when setting up your profile, you could choose between a variety of gender identities and sexuality options, you could even create your own term.
And if that wasn’t enough to convince him of this app, there was beside the usual chatting function the option to get to meet someone at suggested meeting spots depending on similar interests. The user can decide if they want to chat with that person or if they want to arrange a sort of blind date.
“Huh”, Suga pursed his lips. He had a feeling that could be something people would really like to use. At least, he would.
The next two hours they started on assigning roles and tasks and upcoming meetings this week. Suga would still work at J-Marketing most of the times but when he would come over for the meetings he would have a desk at the ready to continue working from here, which he didn’t mind at all. Running back and forth was unnecessary waste of time, anyway.
There was a knock on the door and someone with dark blond hair walked up inside, without much care if he interrupted something or not. He handed Iwaizumi some papers, talked in a hushed voice and was out of the room without as much as a glance at Suga.
Suga didn’t mind at all, it just seemed impolite in his opinion but everyone and every company works with different attitude. So, he tried not to notice the stone-faced expression of everyone around him. It wasn’t his business, anyway.
“That fuckin-“ Kindaichi yelped when someone hit him under the table, shutting him up for good with everyone glaring at him.
Well, if that didn’t kill the mood.
“How about a short break?” Suga suggested, a patient smile radiating warmth through the room. “I could definitely use a coffee, I’m only running on two cups.”
That earned him at least a relieved sigh from Iwaizumi. “Of course. Kunimi, show him the kitchen and get everyone something to eat. I’ll join when I’m”- he held up his papers –“done sorting that out.”
“Sure thing.”
Though the atmosphere wasn’t as tense as a few moments ago, it was still chilly as they walked through the corridor in silence. Suga could hear some animated whispers behind me, probably from Kindaichi but didn’t pay them any mind. Not his business.
When they arrived at the kitchen and Suga had a few minutes for himself while the others went through the different drawers for cups and something to eat, Suga checked his phone and warmth spread inside his chest when he saw an email notification from Daichi.
Subject: Sign of life
Dear Suga,
could you please tell Oikawa that you’re, firstly, still alive and, secondly, still won’t start working for A-J.? He has sent me at least 10 emails and called me a few times (yes, I found the phone) because he wanted to make sure that I told you to come back for sure.
He also said not to tell you.
How are things?
Regards, Daichi
Suga held his hand over his mouth to not snort too loudly. What the fuck? He didn’t know if Oikawa being such a baby or if Daichi being so nonchalant about throwing him under the bus was the better part of this email.

(ノ_<。)ヾ(´ ▽ ` ) you’ll get used to him, just you wait!
They treat me all very nicely! It’s just … different than I expected? I’ll tell you later in detail, but there is nothing to worry about :)
Yours, Suga

Mom, don’t embarrass me in front of my boss
I’ll be home late
Don’t worry about me

Suga
Suga pushed his phone back into his pocket, smile still stretching his lips and he couldn’t fight it down.
“Is ramen okay with you?” Kunimi turned around halfway, holding up a variety of flavors.
“Of course”, Suga scanned the few packages and pointed at the spicy shrimp one, “if that’s not taken?”
Kunimi raised an eyebrow before shaking his head. “Finally someone will eat it. Don’t know who bought this abomina- well, this flavor but no one ever wanted to eat it.”
“Cue me, your saving angel”, Suga chuckled as his phone vibrated for a text message. Suga blinked, it was unusual to receive a text from someone he didn’t blocked while he worked. And to his surprise it was one from Oikawa.
It simply said, “I’ll kill him” and nothing else. Suga burst out a short laugh, stifling it with one hand and turning away from Kunimi.
“Sorry”, he mumbled, trying to compose himself. Sorry, Daichi.
He earned a few glances but no one commented on it, Kunimi just nodding at him.
When everyone had their bowl filled with hot water and waiting for their noodles to get ready, Iwaizumi entered the kitchen as well, giving Suga only a short nod before striding over to Kunimi. They whispered for a few seconds until Kunimi’s eyebrows furrowed and he then left the room.
“Is everything alright?” Suga tilted his head, hands relaxed in his pockets.
Iwaizumi sighed, rubbing his neck. “Yeah, sorry. Today is … a bad day for the start of this project, and for you to see how things are run here. Well, not really”, he muttered at the end, making Suga rising an eyebrow. But before he could inquire further, Kunimi was back in the kitchen.
“I’m sorry, Suga-san, can lunch wait a few minutes? Mizoguchi, our supervisor, would like to meet you.”
Suga wasn’t sure on what to concentrate more. The fact, that the air was completely charged with animosity the next moment or the fact that he thought, Iwaizumi was their supervisor.
“Sure, no problem at all”, he caught himself easily, following Kunimi out in the corridor again. They walked back into the office area with the cubicles and toward the other single office, opposite of Iwaizumi’s. This time Kunimi knocked and waited for an answer, body tense, though his face didn’t show any of it.
“Come in”, a voice said lazily.
Kunimi opened but didn’t enter, motioning Suga to walk up. Suga entered the small office space which was lot tidier than Iwaizumi’s office. Though, almost too tidy, Suga would say. There were no files or folders whatsoever on the desk, only a small cabinet in the back with some but seemed from older cases anyway.
To Suga’s surprise the voice belonged to the blond who more or less interrupted their meeting a little while ago without introducing himself.
“It’s nice to meet you”, Suga bowed slightly, still trying to figure out what was going on here.
“Likewise. Mizoguchi Sadayuki. I’m the supervisor of the A-J. design department. I hope my boys treat you well?” He leaned back into his chair, arms relaxed on the armrests and a well-trained customer service smile on his lips.
“Very well, sir. I’m excited to work on this project with your team.” Suga matched his smile, hands folded in front of him.
“That’s good to hear”, Mizoguchi sighed, “maybe you’ll get them back on track.”
“Excuse me?”, Suga didn’t stop smiling but cocked his head to one side.
“They slack off lately”, he continued, “so I reeled in this job with a tight schedule, so they don’t have an excuse anymore.”
Before Suga’s eyes flashed the mental image of Iwaizumi’s overflowing desk and the penny had finally dropped.
“There is no need to worry, Mizoguchi-san”, Suga’s smile even widened, not reaching his eyes, “there won’t be any problem with finalizing this project and meeting every expectation and going beyond.”
“That’s the confidence I like to hear. Thank you, you can leave  now.” Mizoguchi turned back to his PC, not paying Suga anymore mind which almost infuriated Suga so much he was willing to slam the door shut to show what he thought of this disrespect.
Kunimi was waiting a few steps ahead, leaning at the wall of one of the cubicles with his phone in one hand. When he heard Suga coming out of the office he straightened up, putting his phone away.
“Lunch?”, he asked but Suga heard the strain in his voice and he finally understood all the tension from before.
“Yes, please”, Suga smiled, balling his hands into fists inside his pockets, trying to control his anger. It lasted until they entered the kitchen again.
“Mizoguchi is an asshole, isn’t he?” he blurted out as he stepped over the threshold.
Kindaichi almost let go of his chopsticks while Yahaba snorted out his broth. Nobody paid them any attention though as they stared at Suga who was now crossing his arms, tapping his foot furiously.
“I mean?!” He threw his arms in the air. “The audacity he has when talking about you guys?! In front of some outsider? Hello?! Has he seen anything you guys worked on in the past, I don’t know, five years?! Has he seen how much work you guys have?! And devotion you put into everything that gets wonderful feedback by the way?!”
Suga huffed out a frustrated sigh at the end and rubbed his face until he froze mid-motion. He blinked and slowly peeked through his fingers.
“Oh god”, he gasped, “I’m so sorry! That wasn’t- that so unprofessional, I-“ Suga was already writing apology emails to everyone in the room and to Daichi and Oikawa for being such a brat, regardless the circumstances, when Iwaizumi barked out a sharp laugh.
“You’re not wrong there”, he grinned, arms crossed in front of his chest. “Sorry you have to see the sorry state we’re currently working in, though.”
Suga shook his head. “Don’t be. It is absolutely astonishing how you can still produce such amazing work despite having such an asshat for a boss.”
“Asshat”, Yahaba wheezed, coughing out some more noodles.
“Ugh, disgusting”, Kageyama commented but didn’t say much more on the matter but concentrated on his own food.
“We’re gonna make sure this project will be a huge success”, Suga nodded resolutely, “and make him eat his own words. And hopefully apologize to you all.”
Even Kunimi showed the hint of a smile after Suga angrily took his own bowl and slurped his ramen, spice punching in right away. But he kept on slurping, trying to show his own way of determination.
“It’s good to have you on board, Suga”, Iwaizumi said earnestly, holding up his own bowl. “Here’s to a successful partnership.”

Chapter Two - Turtleneck Sweater
Tumblr media
“So it’s...Elliot?”
“Yup.”
“Not a name I'm used to hearing, sorry.”
“Well, neither is Decius, but hey,” they shrugged. “Anyway, you’ve had a better reaction than others have.”
“I’m sorry about that.”
“No need to apologize, Koushi, nothing you can do about it. I’ve learned to accept it.”
He smirked, nudging their arm with his shoulder. “Hey, at least I don’t get an ego hit anymore when you wear those basketball sneakers you loved so much in middle school. Nothing wrong with a dude being taller than me.”
Elliot laughed, taking a sip from his (new) monster. Since they knocked into each other, they started catching up (and he was nice enough to get him another monster). They hadn’t realized how long it had been since they last spoke, but it was nice to be in each other’s presence again. After all, the other was the reason they both made it through middle school.
It was safe to say, Elliot had missed his best friend. It had been too long since he and Suga got to spend time together.
Moving to Tokyo for their dad’s job left Elliot heartbroken and unsure of what to do—they weren’t exactly the friendliest person (understatement) and had trouble making friends in real life (also an understatement). Moving away from Sugawara was one of the hardest things he’d ever had to do, but in the last two years, it was almost like it didn’t matter
Which was a really, really bad way of putting it. But it was the best wait he could think to explain. Over the last few years, they’d grown apart and rarely talked despite being so close from the age of five on up.
Then again, he never did well in awkward situations. And things had been awkward when he left. He never wanted to overstep anything, so kinda stopped answering his phone. Not intentionally—he never ignored Suga—but would go a couple of hours without a reply, then the other would go a couple of hours. Hours turned into days and days turned into not knowing how to start a conversation.
Which, again, was his fault. At least partly.
“There’s always that,” he laughed. “Seriously, though, thank you for being so chill about this, man. I appreciate it.”
“No problem, El—if that’s who you are, that’s who you are, y’know? Oh, am I allowed to tell my bandmates? They’re good friends of mine, but I’ve talked about you a lot the last couple weeks.”
“Yeah, sure—wait, that’s why you’re here?”
In the ten minutes of them talking and sitting on the curb, neither thought to mention what they were doing there.
“Yeah! That battle of the bands thing! You didn’t see us yet?”
“Not yet, no—then again, any time I’m not playing or practicing, I’m more worried about writing. I leave it to Akaashi to get videos for me.”
“So you can overanalyze them later?”
“You get it!”
“Same dumbass I knew in middle school, then,” Suga laughed, pulling out his phone to check the time. “Ah, hell—told my friends I’d be back in 15 and it’s been almost 30. I gotta get going, but text me later, okay? We gotta catch up sometime this week.”
“We do! Yeah, I gotta head out, anyway, no worries. Text me when you’re bored and we can talk for a while.”
“Sounds good.”
The two of you stood, Suga offering his hand to help them up. They took it with a grin
“I’ll see you later, then,” he asked, keeping their hand in his. With one look, they knew what he was thinking. They spun him, then he spun them around, the two of them high-fiving among several different moves they came up with as little kids.
They broke away, laughing. After all these years, they still had it.
They said their goodbyes again and headed off in different directions. He thought a lot on his way over to Bokuto’s, though—Suga had grown up a lot in the last couple of years. One would say he was pretty. Definitely pretty, actually. Maybe cute.
Unfortunately, the further he walked, the more he thought. And the more he thought, the closer he came to the decision.
Ah, shit. Cute boy.
♬♬♬
Within a couple of minutes of walking, he arrived at Bokuto’s place to hang out before Akaashi and Hiraku came over for practice. They rarely exchanged small talk anymore—three years of extremely close friendship will do that to someone—and Elliot just followed him to his room.
“Had to come out again today.”
“Oh, fun! Not fun? I dunno, how’d it go?” Bokuto asked, flopping backward on his bed. He kicked his fluffy blanket to the bottom, leaving room for them to sit.
“Well...not bad, at least. Just a little weird.”
“I get the feeling you’re gonna talk for a couple of minutes.”
“I don’t have to—“
“Elliot, no, that was a joke.” He sat up, grabbing his hand. Bokuto smiled gently, reassuring him as best he could. “Tell me about it. What happened?”
They squeezed his hand gently, glad for the extra comment. It was a common process: talking/thinking about too much gender stuff -> overthinking -> a little too much anxiety -> self-doubt or crabby mood. As many mood swings that Bokuto had, they knew how to get the other to cool off. Both knew Akaashi was the best with them, but they made do with what they had.
“You remember I moved here after middle school, right?” Bokuto nodded, so they continued. “Before that, I was in Miyagi, all that fun stuff. Anyway. A really old friend of mine is in town for the battle of the bands and I got to talk to him today.”
“Was he shocked?”
“Oh, not really. I’ve always been a little ‘different’ when it comes to style—hell, I started shaving designs into my head when I was...I think ten? Maybe nine. But he said he was happy for me and if that’s who I am, that’s who I am, y’know?”
Bokuto smiled, squeezing their hand. “That’s awesome! Love it when that happens. Good for you for telling him, by the way.”
“Thanks,” Elliot said, smiling awkwardly at him. They took their hand back, beginning to pick at their nails (like usual when thinking too much).
Bokuto took their hand back and leaned over to his bedside table. He grabbed a marker and handed it to him. “Draw me something pretty. No picking.”
They laughed, hanging their head for a second. The laughter increased when he started poking their arm, screeching, “don’t! Hide! Your! Smile! Elliot!” between each poke. It was a nasty habit of theirs that they were trying their best to break, but Bokuto helped a lot with it.
So, they took the marker and started drawing.
About a half-hour and several games of Uno later, Bokuto had both hands full of doodles and designs while they talked about anything and everything.
Somehow, they managed to get onto the topic of love lives.
“Look, dude, I am determined! I’m gonna get a girlfriend by the end of high school! Or a boyfriend. Probably a girlfriend though cause I dunno about the guy's part. But it’s a possibility!”
“Keep telling yourself that, Bo,” they rolled their eyes. He was so in denial, really. They and Akaashi had a bet going.
He pouted. “Hey, well, you’re not doing any better than me! At least I like someone.”
“So you admit it!”
“Not my point!”
They laughed, running their hand through their hair. “I mean, if you’re that competitive, there might be someone…”
“AND YOU DIDN'T TELL ME???”
“Oh my god, shut up, Bokuto!” They swatted his arm (gently) and grabbed a pillow (proceeding to hide their face in it.
Bokuto only continued to pick on them for it. He tried taking the pillow from their vice grip, asking more questions and even tried rolling them off the bed, but they wouldn’t budge.
“Just WHAT am I your best friend for if you DONT tell me who you have a crush on??” he demanded, finally pulling the pillow out from under their arms. He then hit them with it before discarding it.
“Fine fine fine—if you want to know so bad, you have to guess.”
“But you’ll tell me if I guess correct?”
“No promises.”
“You’re horrible!”
“You love me. Take a shot at it.”
He thought for a moment, a starry, stupid look in his eyes. “OOH OOH OOH, DO YOU HAVE A CRUSH ON ME?”
“You’re disgusting.”
Bokuto clasped his hand over his chest, falling back on the bed like he’d just been shot. But very over dramatically. “You’ve wounded me!” Elliot kicked his leg and he shot up straight. “Okay, okay, okay, fine. What about...ooh, what was your friend’s name? Suga...sugaworo khaki?”
“Sugawara Koushi?”
“Yeah, that’s it! Him!”
Elliot sighed. There might have been some...feelings in middle school. But nothing they ever acted on. Not in a timely manner, of course. And now--shit, now he was gorgeous and all those crazy feelings from middle school were kinda coming back but also not really? Was he just thinking about this too much? Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit--
“You’re blushing, El--”
“Shut up.”
He smirked, nudging their arm. “Why are you blushing, Elliot?”
“You’re horrible.”
“So I shouldn’t mention Akaashi right now, either?”
He knew just how to push his buttons, didn’t he?
No, he didn't...like akaashi like that, but he had to admit that he was great. Really great. Like totally want to kiss him sometimes great. But he didn't like him like that. They were just really close friends and knew each other better than almost anyone else and talked almost 24/7 and they wrote music a lot even though Akaashi barely knew anything about music and a lot of his songs were about him--
“You’re still blushing.”
Elliot sighed. So he was gonna play dirty like that? Time to pull out his trap card. Which sounded stupid but it worked.
He composed himself, blinked a couple of times, and smiled evilly at Bokuto. “So, Bokuto--how’s Hiraku?”
“Oh, now you're the horrible one!”
They laughed when Bokuto hit them in the head with the previously discarded pillow. He knew what talking about Hiraku did to him--he got embarrassed and pouty until he talked to her again, then his adrenaline shot up again. Freakin dork.
