4th March 2024~

I haven’t been updating because I’ve just been too busy. Upset with myself that I’ve fallen back a bit on study the last few weeks due to events, work, and terribly hot weather that I can’t sleep through. It’s 5 days until my written exam. I have been consistently writing essays despite everything, and did a practice test today. I also did some physics today and some maths this weekend, which I’m pretty proud of - I need to focus on question banks.

I’ve been enjoying dancing 💃 but the heat makes it sooo sweaty and dreadful. It definitely is a workout!

I consulted Grays Anatomy on throat / vocal constructs. It is very complicated, more than my old singing teachers let on!

Well, it's certainly been a week! My area is in a deep freeze right now and I am so very cold. I'm thinking about making steak tomorrow night as a treat- I don't eat much meat and cook red meat maybe twice a year, but after this week I'm really feeling a steak and wine night.

where do you get your art inspo from? As in the art style :3

yk this is kind of a question i've been dreading! because a lot of people can answer definitively - they'll give names, urls, blogs.

but uh.. I really don't know? I mean there were some deviantart blogs in elementary/middle school that inspired me then, but since? I couldn't say! My style has evolved from me doing my own thing, I suppose. I'd take little bits from other people's tutorials/advice and then stitch it into my own Frankenstein's Style.

#i also in a way took insp from myself?#bc for a while i had two styles - realistic and simplistic #and then at some point i wondered if i could combine them. and i did!#and That has become what you all see today!#rambles from the bog #i might be able to give an answer in a few years! who's to say!#i'm trying to Improve more constructively and that means studying other people's art #recently i've followed some artists who's art i greatly enjoy so that i can maybe Understand how to draw in such a way #- not as in draw like their style!#but to be able to choose colors & lay out composition and such #the technical aspects!#so that i can then apply that to my own style and like. Improve lmao #because admittedly my style is rather... bland. i look at my art and #sure there are Some that are genuinely creative and interesting but most of it is just.... meh?#it's not something i would stop and gawk at!#and i want to be able to great something that makes people stop and go 'Whoah' under their breath! you understand!#i want to create elaborate backgrounds! combine interesting colors! Am obsessed with the way you draw Phoenix. he is so nice to look at and idk if I'm making sense with this but your art is so calming!! it's so good!! do you have any art tips for beginners? thank you so much ;_;! with art tips i never really know where to start esp cuz "beginner" is a really broad spectrum, but the best i can give (aside from telling you to do studies and dumping a masterpost of stuff people already have talked over endlessly) are 2 things that drastically helped improve my outlook on art 1) Draw things simply for the sake of it being fun. Basically this post

sometimes I would get so caught up in my own head about trying to make the Next Best Thing but ended up just killing any joy drawing gave me which defeats the whole point of art for me. Sometimes you have to draw some silly shit just to be like damn this is fun !

2) Let yourself be inspired by other art. By that I mean look at other artists work and actually analyze what you enjoy about it (color, pose, composition, etc.) and see how you could apply that to your own work. It's not cheating to use some colors or a pose you found interesting in one persons work. the Key here is being INSPIRED and not COPYING please for the love of god nobody misinterpret this

Did a practice test today in lieu of my exam next week. I did better than I thought I would and got about 70% correct. If this happens in the exam I’ll be really really happy!

Deliberating whether to do chem/maths/bio reviews now.

January 27

A downtown adventure! I've been so stressed about various life happenings this month, but a day out was such a nice distraction.

I've been in a big black sesame mood lately. I think when I have downtime again, I'm going to experiment with making black sesame paste at home.

This week wasn't great academically or in terms of reaching any goals, unfortunately. There's always next week! And the week after.

Today I'm going to be chipping away at a paper critique and practicing for an upcoming Statistics quiz. I should probably clean my room as well.... one foot in front of the other. It'll work out, I just need to keep moving forward.
