Thanks for the tags this morning @larkral @that-disabled-princess @artsyunderstudy @nightimedreamersworld @orange-peony and @blackberrysummerblog! I'm just putting the finshing touches on the finale to my Star Trek: Redemption fic, The Tardigrade and his Boy, which I expect to be posting later today. So, here's one last totally out of context snippet with wayyy more than six sentences:
“Calm down, Snow,” I say, gently.
He takes a shuddering breath, and the smoke surrounding us starts to recede. “Baz,” he gasps. “You’re back.”
I look down at myself, still disguised as a Watford School of Magicks student—or some kind of narc, if Wellbelove is to be believed—and realise who he thinks I am. The other one, his roommate, his—
“Thank magic,” he sighs, and then he’s embracing me, holding me tightly. He’s so warm, and it feels so … My Snow would never.
“No,” I say. It takes every fibre of self-control I have to pull back. “Bunce spelled us, Shepard and I, so we could cross the grounds without drawing attention. I’m Commander Grimm-Pitch, remember?”
Snow’s face falls and he starts—literally—fuming again.
“But it’s okay,” I choke out through a cough. “It’ll be okay.”
“No,” he growls. “You don’t understand. I just got him back. I missed him. So much, and I just got him back, and I can’t lose him again.”

I have not shared in a bit but I’ve finally got a lil’ something today. This is another snippet from something I was previously calling a secret project, but now that the prologue and first chapter of the series has been shared and my name is linked to the series, I can reveal that this is from my episode of Star Trek: Redemption, a birthday gift for the lovely @raenestee 🎉
Also going to take this opportunity to plug the intro @facewithoutheart has written. You do not have to be a Trek fan to read it, either. It’s an adventurous, fun and sweet ride, and the rest of the series promises to be amazing as well. Lots of wonderful people working on it and bringing some fantastic ideas to the plate.
Anywho! On to my excerpt. (With nothing redacted this time! )
“Traveling the universe isn’t as glamorous as the Starfleet pamphlets made it sound, is it?”
Baz exhales through his nose by way of an answer.
“No, it isn’t.”
“You know this trade agreement is important,” I say quietly.
He nods. He’s got his arms crossed tightly and he’s looking at his feet, his toes pushing pebbles along the path. He looks so young all of a sudden.
“I know.”
“And just because our first few encounters in this quadrant were disastrous, doesn’t automatically mean this one will be too.”
He clicks his tongue. “Yes, but don’t those other experiences mean we should be cautious?” He turns and looks at me finally. His look is defiant. Challenging. But I’m not here for a fight.
I keep my tone gentle and do my best to coax him with my words.
“Cautious, yes. And I think we are being so. But Baz, we can’t just close ourselves off from everyone just because there’s a possibility we may get hurt. We won’t survive that way.”
A small update on my progress, if you like reading about these things. I got a good bit done on this sucker in later April/Early May but ended up chopping a good 5k (nearly everything I wrote in the last 5 weeks) recently because it was a lot of slow moving and boring exposition that I’ve decided to just recap instead. This seems to be the story of my writing these days. :vibin:
But! This bit I am determined to save and rework somehow. Wish me luck!
Thank you to all the wonderful people tagging me lately. Tagging y’all back today and then some:

I will not accept any complaints about including Leverage or Boston Legal - which are both about found family, examining morality& oppression, being cheesy and silly - unless you have researched just how many Star Trek references and Star Trek actors are in both.

The other day I pulled up Leverage bloopers simply because it had occurred to me that I'd never seen any (thank you Tumblr).
Then, I ended up watching an old episode of Star Trek: TNG.
Less than 5 minutes in, upon seeing Worf being himself, my brain goes "lol Worf is Eliot."
And then, OMFG WORF IS ELIOT and they would both HAAATE that comparison! 🤣
This revelation has been living permanently in my brain ever since, so now you get to know about it too.
How are Eliot and Worf the same? They are both prickly cinnamon buns. They are extremely intimidating and unfriendly to strangers, but fiercely protective and caring for those close the them. They are paranoid, but skilled and smart enough to be right every time they are mistrusting. They are incredible fighters, but don't want to be known just for those skills.
And they have great hair 😁

Damn every Lord Huron song is so Charthur vibes.

I know a lot of people dislike the way Mirror Georgiou is treated because she was like, a gleefully murderous fascist dictator and that's a pretty awful thing to be, and she was never really made to face any sort of justice for her crimes. But like, she's also not real. None of the people she harmed are actually real. So seeing her get a redemption arc and an opportunity to grow into a better person was nice.
At least for me. You, see I have moral OCD (sometimes referred to as scrupulosity) that's always telling me I'm the worst person ever, and I'm past the point of no return. But if she's got a chance to change her perspective and do better after everything she's done, then maybe I, with my much lesser mistakes, can finally forgive myself.

Episode 5: The Tardigrade and his Boy
Rating: Teen
Words: ~24K
Chapters: 6/6
Summary:
With the engines down for maintenance, the USS Redemption is at a standstill. Just like Dr Shepard Love’s attempts to rebuild the Hail Mary, the culmination of his life’s work and probably the Redemption’s only chance at making it home to the Alpha Quadrant before everyone on the crew dies of old age.
When an unexpected visitor appears in the ship’s immediate vicinity, it seems like it might herald a solution to fixing the Hail Mary. Or it might drag Simon, Baz, Shepard and Agatha into an alternate dimension where magic is real and a certain young fellow named the Insidious Humdrum is sowing chaos.
What will happen when worlds collide? Will the crew ever make it back to their home universe? Will any of this even make sense?
Tune in to this newest episode of Star Trek: Redemption to find out.
After a mid-season hiatus, it's finally time for me to join the Raen @raenestee birthday train! Happy 0.603825 Birthday, Raen!! I hope you enjoy this latest entry in the Star Trek: Redemption series. It's a Watford-era CO crossover episode, featuring a very special guest star I think you might appreciate.

Hello all! Happy weekend!
I finally updated Depth of Reason and posted chapter 7 last week. I’ve got a bit to the start of chapter 8 to share with you today. Penny’s baby shower is imminent and Simon has had some help from Baz to get his flat ready:
As I was readying myself for bed last night, I walked through the living room, feeling a bit out of place with the streamers and balloons in pastel colors covering the walls.
But when I remembered Baz helping me bring in the groceries, stuffing my fridge together until it was nearly bursting, and hearing his soft goodnight as he left, knowing I’d see him here first thing in the morning, well. I don’t think this place has ever felt so much like home in all the years I’ve lived here.
I also posted the third and finally chapter of Episode 3: The Diplomat, my contribution to our Carry On Star Trek collab for @raenestee. Here’s a bit:
“Alright, up you go,” Dev says. He’s down on one knee and has his hand out to help me. Clearly, he wants me to stand on his thigh in order to access the vent, but it still seems impossibly high.
“You can’t be serious.”
“You’ll be fine,” he says dismissively. “That’s why he’s here.”
“Come on, Baz,” Snow says from above. “I’ll pull you up. It’ll be fine.” He leans further out of the vent as if to make the task seem less daunting and I can see freckled shoulders and arms on full display.
“Lights and stars, are you naked?” I ask.
“Very nearly,” he says, wiggling his fingers at me.
Why is Simon naked? Why do they need to hoist Baz up through the ceiling vents? Hmm…

Mary-Beth was in her early twenties in 1900 so there’s a chance she lives to her late eighties to see Star Trek. Probably was one of the first Spirk shippers.

In The Nigerian Job, when Elliot is playing the computer guy, flirting and distracting the receptionist, and she calls him "strong for a computer guy"... and he explains that he likes to cosplay as a Klingon. He USES the word, "Klingon." Then he says BAKLAH as if in character... sounding surprisingly close to the actual Klingon phrase, QAPLA. As if he IS familiar with the phrase, but just couldn't quite remember it.
Imo, Elliot watched Star Trek at some point in his life. Maybe as a kid with his parents. Maybe while trapped somewhere on a job. But Elliot watched MULTIPLE episodes at some point, or he wouldn't know what a Klingon was or what a Klingon phrase sounds like. Hardison is just too offended to see the obvious. Elliot has watched Star Trek.
(This is of course reinforced in Redemption when we find out Elliot learned how to speak Klingon "on a bet." Uh huh. Sir you don't do anything you don't want to do and we all know it.)
