With how perceptive Yor can be, I kind of hope that if she ever gets close enough to a disguised Loid to get a good look at him that she's able to tell that it's him based off of his hands or something. This doesn't even have to trigger a reveal, it could just lead to a very awkward conversation when Yor asks why he's dressed like that and Loid ends up telling her some farfetched lie to try and explain and Yor just accepts it like she accepted the concussive therapy lie at the beginning of series.

One of the things that I really love about Anya is how empathetic she is. While she doesn’t really understand Yuri’s complicated thoughts, she knew he need comfort and she offered it to him in a way she knows how: giving pats.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She did the same with the cow, Yor and Franky too. I love Anya a lot!

I think Twilight/Loid Forger (or whatever his birth name is) is a huge romantic. I think he truly believes in love, true undying love, soul mates, family, permanence, etc. he’s just convinced himself that he isn’t capable of love or doesn’t need love because, sadly, he believes he doesn’t deserve all those things. He can’t be happy, he can’t be at peace. He has to work endlessly to save the world. He’s punishing himself by denying himself true love, happiness, and permanence (he really, really wants these things)
Tumblr media
So what’s happening in the story is, he finds Anya and feels himself loving her and being her father, and he loves it, he loves being her dad. But he can’t have a daughter, he needs to create world peace. So he pushes back and fights against all these happy feelings.
And with Yor it’s even worse. He could be falling in love with her, true love, and he’s blown off his feet. I don’t think he’s ignorant or oblivious to what he’s feeling for her at all. Like we laugh at him and make fun of him because he’s an obtuse, oblivious spyman. But he’s actually well aware that it’s love, but he’s denying himself. Because he believes being in love with his wife, and raising a daughter with her, and being happy together forever is the most wonderful, precious thing in the world. And it’s not something he is allowed to have.
(I think if anyone is confused and oblivious about what they’re feeling and what it means, it’s actually Yor. Her feelings are more obvious to us, the audience, because she’s allowing herself to feel openly. But she is just now coming to understand that she’s falling in love.)
Like, Twilight secretly loves romantic movies and books and stuff but all along he’s thinking “Oh I’ll never feel this ‘true love’ thing they’re talking about, ima SPY.” But then he meets Yor and it’s an immediate kick in the gut, fly off a cliff, swooning music when she walks in the room, I finally belong somewhere feeling. And in the story right now we’re seeing him go through the “Oh fuck no there’s no way this can’t be happening I can’t love her I’m supposed to love spying and the shadows and being alone forever”
Tumblr media
I mean come on, this guy right here loves romance. He loves dates with his wife. He loves love. He is trying to create a world where children don’t cry and the world is at peace and everyone is happy and in love. Except himself. He’s the sacrifice.
Tumblr media
This right here is Twilight indulging himself. Feeling that true love feeling and relishing in it, like soaking in the sun. But then he takes two giant steps back and distances himself from her, and shuts himself off from his family. They all suffer because of it. It’s like he’s torturing himself and unknowingly hurting her in the process.
I think what needs to happen in the story eventually is his acceptance. He’s in love with her, he loves his daughter. He’s allowed to keep them and openly love them forever. He deserves it.

Loid Forger is so fucking funny.
Like he’s this world renown spy. He’s very sharp and quick-witted. He’s able to pick a person out of a crowd by simply their gait or decode an incredibly obscure SSS conversation about some wine.
But 73 chapters into this story and he still hasn’t picked up on the fact that his daughter is a fucking telepath, or that his wife kills people on the reg.
Like, what is this man even doing lmao

I cannot stress enough how much I love love love the way Loid and Yor’s relationship is written. By removing actual romantic attraction from the equation, the story ironically gives one of the most accurate and honest depictions of what it takes to be a married couple. Way too many people assume romantic relationships are primarily centered around...well, romance. So they commit to a long-term relationship on the basis of emotions--fleeting things that you cant control. And then one day, the honeymoon phase high wears off and maybe you don’t feel like making out today, maybe the other is in a bad mood and not fun to talk to right now. Maybe things just aren’t as sexy as they used to be and you’re starting to get bored.
That’s where the importance of an actual foundation comes in. From what I’ve observed of my own parents and grandparents, love is maybe 10% emotion and 90% willpower. Love is working as a team, embracing each other’s strengths and weaknesses, always seeking the other’s happiness and wellbeing. It’s acknowledging your faults and working to be better for them. Linking arms and digging in your heels whenever times get tough because you two are in this together to the very end, and it doesn’t matter if things are less sexy or exciting than they were at the start, because you’re bound by something deeper and far more mysterious than that.
SPY x FAMILY starts building Loid and Yor’s relationship not from a place of romance, but from a place of mutual teamwork. The most compelling developments in their relationship are things like Loid taking Yor’s advice on raising Anya, Yor wanting to contribute to the family in practical ways, the two of them valuing and being genuinely grateful for the other’s strengths. They work as a couple long before they’re actually....y’know, a couple because they are building a strong and stable foundation for a real relationship. Romance will be the reward, but it’s not the end goal. Their real goal is to support and empower each other and their daughter. And that more than anything is what’s going to make their romance feel so good to watch.

I know that one of the popular reveal theories has Thorn Princess being sent to kill Agent Twilight, but as time goes on I think it's less and less likely that particular scenario will come about. The big reason that Loid can use his real face while playing Papa Forger is because no one outside of WISE knows what Twilight looks like.
In order for Yor to be sent after him, his identity would have to be revealed at large, and at that point I think he would be taking countermeasures to protect himself/his ability to work and that would quite possibly mean abandoning Yor and Anya since he would have such a large target on his back. And, while it is technically possible that his identity is found out and he doesn't know, I doubt that Garden would send Yor after him because they likely know the face is attached to her husband, which means Twilight impersonates him or he is Twilight, but either way it could lead to her having issues committing.
However, I do think it's incredibly likely that they could cross paths on a mission, and come to blows that way. In a Twilight's goal is to infiltrate and find The Plans, so he neutralizes A and disguises as them and Thorn Princess' goal is to kill A and their underlings, way.
Loid doesn't stand a chance against Yor in hand to hand combat. He can fight well, but he doesn't have anything on Yor's strength. When it comes to intelligence he's the clear winner, but he'd have to keep her off of him long enough to do something.
This scenario could go one of two ways, I figure. Loid manages to get Yor to listen and shows her that A is actually knocked out in a closet, and dips while she's going "????", OR Yor doesn't stop to listen (which even she might not, I feel like her targets would have tried talking her around before) and Loid is forced to reveal who he is.
I feel like this could be a nice way to do it without super high stakes being on the line, and it would still give Loid the opportunity to chose between lying about some things or being honest and revealing everything.

Anya + unraveling the mystery of the Desmond family (and Damian being different)
When Melinda debuted, I wrote a post about how she was potentially a character against the Forgers because Anya hadn't met her (we gain insight into characters via our deus ex machina Anya meeting them and reading their minds). Anya has met her now and the narrative has established that she genuinely cares for Damian (even if she's still a mysterious character).
After a long time, Demetrius is finally here. He's still mysterious, but not antagonistic to his brother and still cares for him. Like I said in a previous post, Demetrius subverts what I said above because Anya cannot read him fully even if she's met him. But regardless, Demetrius is here, we've seen him, all four Desmonds have finally debuted. And in my mind, I can vaguely connect them to the Forger-Briar extended family:
Anya - Damian: The kids aiming for stella stars and seeking parental approval. Attached to their dogs. Occasionally heroic (dodgeball, handkerchief, bus hijacking), but ultimately silly kids dragged into "adult" political matters (Anya with more awareness than Damian).
Loid - Donovan: Standing in for WISE vs war, one of the central conflicts. They are fathers and authority figures. Loid, faking a job as a psychiatrist, seeks to understand people (as a fake job, but he also does this as a spy). Donovan famously declared that people would never truly sympathize with each other. A good, attentive father and a neglectful father.
Yor - Melinda: The mothers, the narrative kind of puts them in the background compared to their husbands, but we know they have plot behind them. Yor's job as an assassin is unknown to her family (sans Anya). Melinda has struggles of her own when it comes to parenting her kids / being married to Donovan.
Demetrius - Yuri: Bit of a stretch, but they're both characterized as genius brothers and on the side compared to the main father-mother-child trios. Yuri works for the SSS, in direct opposition to Loid. Demetrius is a middle schooler?? He’s a child so he’s probably not that involved in the main plot, and if he is, it’s not willingly / he was brought up that way. They're both younger (and less experienced) compared to the adults- Demetrius is still a child and Yuri is 20. Yuri's affection for Yor is overflowing and the Briar siblings are very supportive of each other. In contrast, Demetrius is passive and apathetic, but not uncaring.
Anya has met everyone except for Donovan. Anya thinks both Melinda and Demetrius are weird. And Anya thinks of Donovan as the evil super boss. To her, the Desmonds are "weird". "All of Sy-on boy's relatives are such weirdos" - not sure if it's just the translation, but this line seems to imply Anya thinks Damian is exempt to the weirdness of his family. After all, unlike Demetrius, she can read Damian's thoughts normally. And unlike Melinda (and Yuri, and Fiona), she usually doesn't get bombarded with an overwhelming wave of intense thoughts when she reads Damian's mind.
And that brings us to the next point - Damian's time in Eden and the positive influences he receives (away from his family). Damian and Anya are better friends now. E&E's loyalty and affection for him have been established countless times. Becky congratulates Damian this chapter. Despite Damian thinking people suck up to him to get close to his father, he has a group of friends who do care about him (including Becky who doesn't suck up to him). Outside of what we see from Anya's pov, Damian has teachers and his dorm mother (Jeeves too) who care for him. Damian isn't alone.
Damian is shown to be disconnected from his family for whatever reason. His parents didn't come to his orientation. Damian says he doesn't see his parents often. Melinda cares for Damian but isn't allowed to see him often / afraid to be seen with him (?). Damian has called Demetrius before but this is the first time we see him meet Demetrius in person. And we all know about Damian's goal of impressing his father. Damian seems to believe Demetrius and Donovan when close when they were younger (when Demetrius was slightly older than Damian’s age), but Damian receives no such attention. Despite this, Damian still manages to have a fairly happy school life with his friends and supportive adult figures.
I think Damian's growing friendship with Anya and the recent complete reveal of the Desmond family will push Anya into thinking Damian is not like his weird family. If anything, Damian is more like Anya and her associates. Post bus-hijacking, Damian from Anya's POV is seen as more likeable / sympathetic, even more so now that we know about his mother and brother.
Anya is a child who is exposed to some of the darkness in Melinda / Demetrius' heads (trauma from being close to Donovan?), and she doesn't really understand them. Melinda / Demetrius seem off to outsiders (we saw Yor’s reaction, Becky thinks Demetrius is creepy) but it’s only Anya who’s capable of reading their minds and knowing how weird their thoughts are. But Anya has a much better understanding of Damian, the youngest Desmond, who is a kid like her with understandable motivations (getting stars, impressing his dad) similar to Anya's own motivations.
Interesting to note that Demetrius, while at Eden, seems rather lonely and disconnected even within his peer group. When he walks down the stairs, the panel frames it as him being alone, while Damian has four friends with him. When Damian and Anya get their stars, their classmates are shown to be smiling / impressed. When Demetrius gets his stars, we see two of his peers sweatdropping, almost looking wary, while a blushing girl has her hands to her mouth. The story doesn't show Demetrius' peers celebrating his success. It feels like Demetrius' peers are used to him getting good grades but still in awe of how good he is, but... they're not really close to him. Demetrius is not social and says he doesn't understand people, and maybe he doesn't interact much with his peers.
This chapter also reveals Demetrius is not in regular contact with Donovan anymore, contrary to what Damian believed. So Demetrius seems removed from the Desmond family sphere, but also isn't super integrated into the Eden sphere (in contrast to his 6yo brother and his friends). We can believe Demetrius isn’t close to Donovan because he is annoyed (and triggered?) by the mere mention of his father. Clearly Donovan has done something scarring to both Melinda and Demetrius and their thoughts look weird to Anya. Damian, despite craving for his father's attention and being stressed about it, is still relatively unaffected.
From now on, I think we'll slowly get more information about the Desmonds while Damian remains separated from them in the narrative. Damian is introduced as a vital part of Plan B due to his connection with his father, but even Damian himself admits there's not much of a connection. Plan B is working (sort of) because Damianya are friends, but that doesn't mean it's easier for Anya to meet Donovan. I think the narrative has been pushing Damian away from being a plot device for Plan B to being Anya's genuine friend and a victim of the Desmond parenting. At this point, Damian is not really useful to the main plot and there's not much mystery to this 6yo child.
Damian still thinks of himself as a scion of the Desmonds and he’s desperately trying to get his father’s attention. But his dad doesn’t really care, his mom loves him but doesn’t want him to be near Donovan, his brother is similar and also seemingly doesn’t want anything to do with Donovan. Meanwhile, the story establishes him as a boy with a crush on Anya, a boy with friends who will readily sacrifice themselves for him, a boy who’s willing to protect his classmates. All around Damain, his peers, associates, and the story itself has long been defining Damian as someone outside of being the Desmond family. But Damian naturally holds onto it.
Damian isn’t mysterious to Anya because she can read him. Okay, she still thinks he’s a brat sometimes, but that’s Damain being Damian, not Damian being a Desmond. But everyone else in the family is mysterious and it makes Anya feel at least vaguely uncomfortable.
The Desmonds are probably connected to Project Apple, and with the recent hints of Anya’s backstory, we might get some of that. But Damian is framed as almost completely separate to whatever went on, while Melinda and Demetrius are portrayed as victims of Donovan, mysterious and a bit weird but still sympathetic.
And that’s why I think it’s coming together— hints of Anya’s backstory, Damianya becoming better friends, the Desmonds all here. We’ve scratched the surface off and we’re hopefully going to see more.
(Also, just a thought: if Damian indeed goes through a “dark arc” and becomes more like the rest of his family, Anya will know because she can read his mind. She will be able to tell if Damian’s thoughts also start being “weird”. But they are better friends now which could be a lead up to her helping Damian deal with the pressure and struggle.)

I got bored and decided to reread Spy x Family and I realized something important (at least I think it's important).
When Anya first meets Twilight she was trying to convince him to take her even before knowing he was a spy. She tried standing on her tiptoes before she read his thoughts about the mission. There is also this narrator comment after she is chosen
Tumblr media
She just wanted anyone that would take care of her. In this case she chooses Twilight to be her caretaker and is excited at the idea of it being a spy that takes care of her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then there is this moment
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anya was going to run, she was going to listen to Twilight and go to the police until he heard his thoughts. This is the moment she picked Twilight not as some cool spy to take care of her but as her dad.
But another important thing that happens in this very first chapter is this one scene
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He threatens him, where it will hurt the most. The man's daughter, it's not the bullet to the head that is the threat, but the way in which he can hurt Karen. The man's weakness is his daughter. He had Edgar make a choice, keep looking for me? your daughter suffers, leave me alone, I leave her alone. Edgar had to choose between his "mission" or his daughter.
But Twilight still hasn't fully accepted that Anya is his daughter, he lives in denial about it. So it is still too soon for him to be put in a situation where it is Anya or his mission. We all know he will likely have to make the decision to continue being a spy or become a family man. For most of us that means that his mission or daughter moment would be that moment when the decision to quit being a spy is made. Re-reading that made me wonder if it will be a more threatening situation, whether Twilight himself will end up facing a similar threat that Edgar did in the first mission gun to the head and all.
The reason I believe this is because Anya had her moment of choosing Twilight as her dad but Twilight hasn't chosen to be her dad. He is still reluctant.

I'm imagining post-reveal Twilight becoming a little too eager to be supportive of his wife's real job. Like he assumes that Garden must work Yor 24/7 the same way WISE does him, so from now on every time they're on a family ooting and Yor says she needs to use to the ladies room he reassures 'yes of course you take all the time you need we're in absolutely no rush. We'll just be over here not asking questions. No Anya you do not also need to go' And when Yor catches up with them less than two minutes later, not even short of breath 'oh wow that was fast. I barely even had time to get you this bottle of water. Yes, I thought you might like one after a... break.'
Yor doesn't think that sounds normal but normal is Twilight's field of expertise not hers, so she just thanks him very sincerely
Anya seriously contemplates telling them about her telepathy just to avoid this type of situation again she really needed to go potty now!

You know how Loid just asked Anya about her past and how questions about Yor's feelings for Loid have come up a couple of times in recent chapters?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I now really want him to ask Yor about how she feels about him. She's given him some mixed messages in the past, so I wouldn't blame him for asking for clarification. It might be too early for that, though, so I'd also be fine with him asking something else that he wouldn't have asked her before, maybe something about her past.
I could be wrong here, but I think Twilight may have given up on trying not to get attached to the Forgers towards the end of the mole arc and that this may be why he's more willing to ask Anya about her past and may be more willing to get to know Yor better as well. I suppose we'll just have to wait and see.

I personally don’t want Anya to be a spy when she grows up. While she idolizes Loid/Twilight, Bondman and their spy lifestyle, I don’t think she truly understands the dark side of this life yet. I think Loid and Yor wouldn’t want Anya to live this kind of life either. It goes against what they are fighting for. They want her to have a life free from violence and pain.

Hualian being freak for freak is so real cause I feel like if we ever got the books from Hua Chengs POV half the novel would just be Hua Cheng coming up with loony toons level of schemes and contingency’s to seduce Xie Lian and Xie Lian just makes all of them flop by responding to them nothing like a normal person. This is literally how they interact all of book 1:
