I miss fun TV shows with ragtag friend groups getting into wacky hijinks. Like yeah fine they save the world or whatever but more importantly, they crack jokes and get into shenanigans and take care of each other. Miss the hell out of that shit.

Hellooo i was intrigued by your "fucked up supernatural shit" posts so i binged the fucked up episodes you suggested and now I'm a supernatural fan, sadly. I still refuse to watch all of it so i would very much appreciate if you could recommend some more fucked up episodes, especially focused on sam-dean-john dynamics. Also I like your taste in fucked up stuff so if you have any other fandoms to recommend I'd also appreciate that
idk if you caught the reblog with the Sicko Cut Bonus Episodes but every suggestion in there is also a doozy; for a broader range of "sick shit and fucked-up family dynamics" episodes i'd expand it to (previously recced eps in parentheses):
season one: 1, (6), 9/10/11, 14/15/16, (18), and (20/21/22)
season two: (1)/2/3/4/5, (8), 10, 11, (14), and 20/21/22
season three: this is where my ability to pick favorites starts breaking down; s3 is kinda my fave of all the seasons, but for the overall vibe rather than particular standouts. it's only 16 episodes long, so watching it in full is more doable. but the fucky family shit is strongest in episodes 1, 2, 8, (10), 11, and 14/15/16.
season four: i regret to admit that just about every episode in this season is a straight fucking banger. like, the only two i'd be tempted to skip aren't even bad. but extra-special sicko shoutouts to episodes 1, (3), 9/10/11, 14, 16, 19, and 20.
on to the slimmer pickings...
season five: the first five are a fun time and the last two or three SLAP, but man, the handful of salvageable eps in the middle are buried in a minefield of ones i WANT to slap.
season six: look, i may not respect s6 or think it's good, but by GOD do i enjoy it. the WHOLE THING is the new showrunner's grody id-fic, but episodes 5 and 10 are on a special level of sick.
season seven: .....no.
ok, ok, MAYBE 1, 2, 11, 15, and 17. but this is where SPN starts getting truly wretched.
after that... 8x03 i guess, 9x07, 9x19, 10x03, 10x09, 11x04...
s11 i actually found pretty enjoyable, and everything from 11x09 through 11x14 starts serving GREAT grody id-fic vibes again. but bail out after 11x19 at latest, because the end of the season is. bad.
s12-15 have a couple of arc plots with sicko potential i guess? but in my head most of the episodes are an undifferentiated blob of Does Not Fuck.
there are also a handful of early-seasons eps that are softer and sadder that i love a lot: 1x03, 1x12, 2x13, 2x16... plus for "mixed bag but the fun parts are a total blast," 2x17, 3x06, and 3x12.

20 questions for fic writers
i was tagged by @stevethehairington, thanks mack!!
1. How many works do you have on AO3? only 10!
2. What’s your total AO3 word count? 149,243
3. What fandoms do you write for? mainly been stranger things and one little spn drabble here on tumblr and my st/spn crossover fic
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
1. Several Notes of the Most Amiable Nature - aka secret admirer au (my first fic!) 2. A Recipe for Disaster - the princess diaries 2 au 3. (Reprise) - sequel to Several Notes 4. i'm outta my head over you - my mixtape fic 5. of sunshine and starlight - PWP 😏
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? i am so super behind, but yes!!!! and i appreciate them all so so much 🥺
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? definitely it's a date, my summer challenge fic (but i am working through a follow-up that makes it a happy ending i promise 😭)
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? of all of them, i would probably say Several Notes; that one is the schmoopiest ending of them all, but next would def be outta my head.
(i don't want to count Recipe for Disaster since that's the same ending as the PD movie so... 😅)
8. Do you get hate on fics? i've been lucky to only get a little bit of screaming at me for it's a date, but not hate. they were all justifiably ASKLFAJLFASF at the plot twist, but it was all in good fun/still loved 🥰
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? yes!! my number 5 most liked fic is just PWP! and it's always been cute fluffy "real" smut so far, like the two being goofy with each other and super in love and shit lmao 10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? yeah! only the one though, my wip ST/SPN crossover fic You Will Never Walk Alone (You Can Always Reach Me); and to the previous question, my first smut was in chap 3 of this one and i am super proud of it still 😊
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? i really hope not???
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? not yet!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? nope!
14. What’s your all time favorite ship? oh fuck...honestly? it's probably steddie. my OTP is destiel, like, they are the blueprint, they are the ones i have the most history with, but in complete honesty: in my head steddie is much more fluid/blorbo-y than destiel are. dean and cas are so fuckin' good in canon and kinda rare-er for me to find a good au with them that they still seem like themselves? if that makes sense?
with steddie, they are so moldable and fit into any spot you put them; i prefer canon adjacent but anything they do seems so correct, whereas dean and cas will always be a hunter and angel you know? that's how their story has been for so long, and all my fave fics of them are canon spn universe - a spell, a different timeline, a hunt, it's always them™
idk if that makes sense to anyone else, but maybe it's because destiel have been destiel for like 11 seasons and 15 years, and steddie have so little with only one season/summer that they are more moldable but... 🤷‍♀️
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? honestly, it's probably my hispanic!eddie au, but my casper!eddie has been falling off at an exponential rate and it's bumming me out tbh
16. What are your writing strengths? i think it's dialogue? i think that's the thing i've gotten the most comments about, the wit and snark of eddie and his internal voice, or just conversations in general. i like to think through how conversations will go in a fic first, like, how exactly they would realistically speak to each other or how an accent (wayne) would come through and how best to type it out so others can 'hear' it correctly 😊
17. What are your writing weaknesses? writing out action/feelings well. maybe it's cause i get super engrossed in what i'm writing and am looking at it too long, but a lot of the time it feels like i'm just writing "he did this 😐 and then he did this 😐 then said this."
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? i do my best!!! like with the short drabble i did that started the hispanic!eddie au, i did best i could to translate the couple spanish phrases in it, but i don't speak spanish myself. my husband is hispanic and is fluent, but when i wrote that one i was much to embarrassed by why i would be asking him, that i didn't ask him to translate 😭
19. First fandom you wrote for? stranger things! the st/steddie fandom was so supportive with my secret admirer drabble that i made it my first full fic!!!
20. Favorite fic you’ve written? my fave that i've written is my mixtape fic i'm outta my head over you. i wrote so much for it in such a short amount of time for steddie week but it really came together and was all me!
i do also LOVE how my version of a princess diaries rewrite came out, but the plot is just a copy of the movie and isn't really mine you know?
not sure who all has been tagged already, but here are some no pressure tags!!: @thisapplepielife, @azrielgreen, @its-steddie-time, @strawberryspence, @sayesayes, @undreaming-fanfiction, @greatunironic, @fairyfried

Freshly clean, mildly set up, and ready for episode 5 of Wednesday:
1) ooooo the flashback episode! I saw bits in the trailers that showed we be going here, and I'm very excited that it's finally happening. Young Gomez and Morticia are precious.
2) I also love a good Meet The Parents storyline, because you obviously get to see where a character comes from by meeting the people that made them or raised them or whatever. Meeting Enid's parents made a lot of sense, and obviously, since episode 1 we've had Wednesday flat out self awarily telling us about both her parents and her relationship to them. The image of them all at therapy and they hold hands over her face? WOOF. Says so much.
3) Pugsly is fucking AMAZING. Bless this child, can't wait to spend the rest of his career shouting "PUGSLY!" at his face.
4) Obsessed with the fact that we're getting to meet Bianca's mother and learn so much about her. OH MY GOSHHHH. I love her so much, I'm so obsessedf with this storyline. I'm thrilled that the white boys have stopped being so important and taking up so much screen time.
5) Thing watching Eugene is ruining me. Wednesday meeting his mothers and them calling the bees his "fuzzy, wuzzy babies" has me fucked.
6) remember when I was like "I don't give a shit about any of these adults"? I lied. It's just the Sheriff. Like, truly from the bottom of my heart, Fuck This Guy. Like Miss Therapist, I feel like I'm supposed ot recognize that he represents bullshit, but it's so heavy. There is never a moment for me to give a shit about him at all. And the way he so desperately wants to fuck with Gomez is just... goddamn.
7) Love this back story and love the way that Wednesday discusses her father. As someone working through her own feelings on her later father, it was really beautiful and it's a good thing I've taken a mild break from the cocktail because otherwise that might've made me cry.
8) I hate Enid's mother so much. They want to send her to conversion therapy??? Just when I was like "man, they're not being completely disgusting on this show" they were like, "let's do it!" Fucking Aye, man.
9) Obsessed with this representation of Wendeseday and Pugsly. Love their little pond time. From the moment the show started, I've loved them. I'm so glad we're getting more scenes, but I want more!
10) Poor Morticia. This back end stuff is fantastic, give me more, I love it! I also love seeing her and Wednesday work together and for them to be open and honest with each other.
11) The Sheriff/Gomez moment was.... goodness gracious. Pull it out of the show, adorable. In the show, disgusting and so fucking weird to me. Don't ask me to elaborate, I'm tired. Each episode is an hour long and I sometimes have to pause to type.
12) NEW THOUGHT: Christina Ricci is the little sister that "drowned" but instead is the monster. I don't know the levels to which the Principal is helping her or how their plans tie together -- are THEY girlfriends? I doubt that. I'm thinking the Principal isn't going to end up being THAT big of a threat in the grand scheme of things. I could be wrong, but I'm still leaning towards Christina Ricci being the monster here. She's so hot, of course she's also that goblin monster, ya'll! I get that life.
13) oh fuck, oh no. Enid's dad and his line. It was like hearing my Poppa come back for a moment. NOW I'm crying.
14) no lie, when I say "FIRE WILL RAIN" my brain kicked to life in a whir-whir way into "and I set FIRE to th RAIN, let it POURED as I touched your FAY-ACE" and man, again, the spn-life will never leave me be, man. (Yes, I know that's an Adele song. But I listened to that song paired with Mumford and Sons for a very dark period in my life where reading Supernatural fanfic was my emotional crutch and bad habit and it was only season 7, ya'll -- but the brain worms, it's such a real condition.)
I'm not going to allow myself to fall asleep until I've finished this show, no matter what sort of weird dreams that may give me. Maybe I'll have my own ancestor visions throughout the night. How horrifyingly delightful.

Hi!)
I just recently joined your fandom, and I'm not a native speaker, so I don't always understand how to determine if the information is reliable. but I'm used to drawing conclusions only after listening to the arguments of all sides.
I was just looking for all sorts of nonsense on hashtags and accidentally came across an old article (apparently j2), where it says that before the start of season 9, a survey was conducted whether viewers wanted a big return of Cas, and most responded with ridicule. There was also about the fact that episodes with his participation are less appreciated and viewed (although I am almost 100% sure that I have seen the opposite statistics somewhere), and in general he is absolutely not popular among fans. That his panel doesn't sell tickets and stuff. I wanted to ask you, as a person who knows more about statistics and spn. Is it really so. because I just refuse to love the world that Cas doesn't love.
I will be very grateful if you decide to answer this question.
P.s. I really like your blog.
OK, so like. No?
That's the shortform answer since you struggle with language. Now the longform.
This was a desperate ploy of their already failed Silent Majority. After Gamble tanked out S7, she brought Cas back after swearing not to. Immediately during the S7 finale, they started planning ways to prove what you said, but they ran into issues. Mostly, that they couldn't get any sizeable amount of people to join, because they were full of horse shit, even after they tried to rebrand it on the outside as "preferring" brother content rather than wanting Cas gone. They capped at 240 participants, despite aggravated efforts on their part.
Then, while they swore Cas being back would destroy it, Carver era soared and flew back out of the toilet Gamble almost got it cancelled in. S8 went against all industry trends upward, then S9 hit the highest respective industry value to date. There's a reason Jim Michaels and Beaver called them idiots and blocked them.
Then, around S10, the fandom census was run and, yet again, among 10,000 tested individual IPs, only 240 people said "prefer sam and dean", and of those 240 people, if you break down their voting through the hundreds of questions, just like the failed Silent Majority, a bunch were just people not aware of what that actually *meant* and still at least neutral or vaguely positive to Castiel as a character, just brother-leaning. And, just like the Silent Majority, there were only about 45 dedicated antis total. Which, I'm sure you recognize, is a goddamn sliver in this fandom.
There is no open, widely cast net demographic test or poll that gives them what they want. Sometimes they'd run it on their own niche sites, or twitters, while blocking out anyone they could find they disagreed with--and sometimes they still lost.
Also: Re ratings: The opposite is true. There was an S8-10 episode marketing and character presence test that showed Castiel episodes performed by base 3% better than eps without him, 6% better if it was promoted as such, and up to 9% better if the episode was promoed with "Dean & Cas" content specifically. These numbers also translated to my own study on The Castiel Effect years later, which I pulled episodes from S12-14. This stuff is ALL in my years of the #demographics tag, so feel free to dig. I even did a version of the Cas Effect where I penalized out any "special" episodes that may have given him a boost, and premieres and finales for their boost, and just stuck his averages with generally tepid episodes between and he STILL. CAME. OUT. HIGHER.
They say a lot of things they want really bad to make true, but they just don't get it. The "lower ratings" point came from them not understanding industry Y2Y decline, and when I explained how that worked they spent years crowing something deranged about "baseball stats" because the words "league average" confused them. Then, ofc, when Walker crashed out by 66% in the same year it aired, they screamed "Y2Y decline", because they were still too busy drooling on themselves to recognize it was the same TV year, and thus not Y2Y decline, and they just hoped everyone buried their bad argument. They're literally morons trying to google anything they can look up to use as an argument without even remotely understanding any of the content they're entering into the argument, they're just there to argue and pretend it's valid. They don't even understand/believe a damn point they're using (hence the Y2Y opinion flip of convenience), it's just there to make noise so they can feel better about themselves.
Like. lmao. idk what to say beyond "this point couldn't be more wrong or less corroborated there is no meaningful data point that matches up with this theory"

I have never read a fanfic in my life. When you can’t win an argument, I note that you throw out irrelevant tags, like AA and fanfic and any other bs to muddy the waters. The inability to argue on the merits and just splatter the walls w/ innuendo should be beneath you. Now, once again, intelligently address the issue of season 9-14 being Dean centric? It is obvious to most, why do you perpetuate the Sam myth? Seriously want an answer and not the whole “AA” copout. Btw, I have never DOOL.
And you clearly never bothered reading my blog past three screens as I've already answered your entitled demands questions, many times. I just reblogged one of my old posts for your benefit. Beyond that I owe you nothing on my blog you entitled wanker :-)
I perpetuate nothing except talking about the actual show's story, which you're apparently watching with one eye closed. Season 9b/10 was the only second time they attempted at a Dean-centric season. Jensen himself said season 10 was a "rare Dean-focused storyline" and guess what, it flopped hard and they immediate went back to Sam-focused storylines for season 11 through 15. Ask yourself, was Dean more interesting after his mytharcs?  Did you recall any noticeable difference?  Nope, he was the same character afterwards and his misadventure as demon Dean and MoC!Dean was unmemorable and inconsequential.
Take Sam out of SPN and it completely destroys the premise and there is no story. Take Dean out of SPN and will still turn out the same with minimal rewrites: Bobby Singer calls Sam in the pilot to tell him that John has gone missing.  John sells his soul for Sam.  Sam meets Ruby who promises to help Sam save John from hell and she tricks him to release Lucifer.  Sam then traps Lucifer in the Cage along with himself.  Crowley raises Sam soulless from the Cage to work for him to hunt alphas.  Bobby makes a deal with Death to get Sam’s soul out of the Cage.  Crowley uses the captured alphas to opens purgatory and releases the Leviathans.  Sam finds Kevin Tran and they kill Dick Roman and close purgatory.  Season 8 is about Sam and Kevin trying to close the gates of hell and they succeed but didn’t know that by doing so will bust open the gates of heaven and kicked all the angels out.  While trying to track down rogue angels and exorcize them back to heaven, Abaddon shows up chasing Henry Winchester through time.  Henry and Sam bond over missing John.  Henry tells Sam about his legacy with the Mens of Letter and gives him the key to the bunker before he dies saving Sam from Abaddon.  Crowley tricks Sam to receive the Mark of Cain in order to kill Abaddon.  Crowley’s mother, Rowena, returns and offers to remove the MOC form Sam’s arm in exchange for the Back Grimore and by doing so releases Darkness.  To get rid of Darkness, Crowley and Rowena release Lucifer from his Cage who really does try to kill Darkness but gets his ass kicked so he slunks off to possess POTUS and spawn Jack.  Meanwhile, Sam talks Darkness to take a long vacation with God before finding out about Jack and adopts him, leading to the funniest cosmic custody battle between Lucifer and Sam. See how easy it was to imagine SPN without Dean? I did that in under 5 minutes.

what makes you think the writers want deancas? not trying to be an asshole, i'm just genuinely curious as to why you think that. i know berens' episodes are pretty heavy with subtext so i can see why you'd say that he wants it, but i'm not so sure about the rest of the writers/dabb. it seems like meghan isn't a huge fan either, given her "they twisted it so fast" tweet :/ of course she's a very new writer (think she's only writing one ep this season?) but still
OKAY this is a great question, welcome to my dissertation.
I’m going to address the end of your question first. Meghan is actually DeanCas positive, she has been for quite a long time. She actually, a few years back, posted a picture of her reading a literal book about Destiel and captioned it “writing reading” or something like that.
This whole thing just comes out of a boiling over of tensions because of how nasty fandom twitter can be. Like I said here, I think this has just gotten blown out of proportion, they shouldn’t have posted all this randomly disparaging stuff, but also like...can you blame them? The fandom is a lot, we always have been, and they’re probably also under a gag order not to talk about the finale, and are annoyed that people keep asking.
So nah, Meg is not anti Destiel.
To the first part!! So let’s take a look at the show runners since Cas has been around.
Seasons 4 and 5: Kripke
Seasons 6 and 7: Gamble
Seasons 8-11ish: Carver
Seasons 11ish-15: Dabb
So starting with Kripke. Okay, yes, I will be the first to admit that we have some pretty incredible Destiel moments in these seasons, but it’s less directly written into the plot and much more from Misha and Jensen’s uhhhh ~chemistry~. The only times it was directly written into the script was when the episode was handled by someone like Edlund (“On The Head Of A Pin,” “The End,” “My Bloody Valentine”). And you have to remember, if in season 5, there are moments here and there where you’re like huh that’s suspiciously romantic dialogue, remember that Cas took Anna’s place. Anna was supposed to be endgame for Dean, but due to a myriad of issues and Misha’s general greatness, Anna was replaced with Cas.
Onto 6 and 7. Hmmm. Gamble. 6 and 7 are my two least favorite seasons and that’s no secret, and that’s not only due to the plain old weird shit in the overall storyline, but also that homegirl killed off Cas in s7 and then Bobby like four episodes later. (Also it ALWAYS rubbed me the wrong way they couldn’t have Baby in that season lol). We still had some great DeanCas moments, but again, it wasn’t really written into the overall arc (until they had to change the end of season 7 because of tanking ratings and bring Misha back lol, anyone remember the fact that Dean kept Cas’ jacket and would randomly dream of him? Yeah.). But we still had those moments, those distinctly romantic moments, probably the best example in these two seasons is from Edlund again, specifically “The Man Who Would be King,” I wrote a little about that here.
We move onto Carver, who gave us, at this point, the most overt DeanCas season with season 8 (season gr8 is a better name imo), and this is the first time Dean and Cas’ relationship is directly written as an arc of the season.  I mean, you have everything in Purgatory, Dean “seeing” Cas everywhere, the fact that he felt so guilty that Cas stayed in Purgatory that he manipulated his own memories to think that he was the one that failed Cas, because he couldn’t comprehend that Cas would want to leave him, and let’s not forget Dean snapping Cas out of Naomi’s hold on him in “Goodbye Stranger.”  It was a very obvious shift, not enough to alert the general audience, but more than enough for most of us in fandom.
It’s also important to note that this is when Andrew stopped co writing with Loflin and started writing his own episodes (”Hunter Heroici” anyone?)  I like Loflin fine, but Dabb was able to stretch his legs a little bit more once he stopped co-writing, and we also began to see some DeanCas themes in his solo episodes.
In any case, them and their issues being a big part of the seasons continued with Carver, and Berens entered the scene, his first episode (”Heaven Can’t Wait”) is one of my favorites, with human Cas and the fanfiction gap and Dean and Cas just generally being awkward and funny and sweet.  This is Bobo’s FIRST episode, remember that.  He comes right out of the gate with it.
Also in Season 9, this is when Dean takes the Mark of Cain, and the Cas/Colette mirror is born, so obviously, Dean and Cas are the fabric of the season once again.  This is also the season where Metatron says Cas is “in love with humanity,” and then immediately refers to Dean as Humanity so uhhhh yeah.
Onto season 10, Dabb and Berens continue with their greatness (I could write pages on the DeanCas date in “The Things We Left Behind” alone).  And then we have one of the best scenes in the entire show in “The Prisoner” where the Cas/Colette mirror continues and Dean, driven by grief and pain and rage and the Mark, still doesn’t kill Cas.  He still can’t kill Cas.
Season 11 is important because it takes choice away from both Cas and Dean, and shows us, as the audience, how much losing each other takes out of them. We saw in season 10 how much losing Dean takes from Cas, but what about Cas losing Dean?  Dean loses his choice with his connection to Amara this season, and loses even more when Lucifer reveals he’s been possessing Cas, and plays on Dean’s connection to Cas like a mockery.  It’s also worth noting that, similarly to season 8, Dean breaks out of the connection with Amara when he’s worried about Cas, and that’s something that even SHE is surprised by.
But then season 12, the beginning to the Renaissance.  This is when we get the writer’s that become important for what Dean and Cas are today, and, truly, why I believe they want canon Destiel as much as we do.
This is the first season with Dabb’s writers: Davy Perez, Meredith Glynn, Steve Yockey, and of course Bobo all come in with their incredible talents and gave us episode after episode of good content.  “Lily Sunder Has Some Regrets” is probably my favorite, probably the best example of what I’m saying.  An episode where Dean is called out by an enemy directly, told to “roll the dice” on Cas’ life.  And Dean won’t, it’s not even really a hesitation.  And this comes from a character that has known Dean for ten seconds.  I also wrote more in depth about this episode here.  There are also some.....distinctly domestic details we get this season, specifically in “The Future” (written by Berens and Glynn) with the mixtape.  The most tropey of tropes mixtape.  Yeah, I’ll just leave that one here.
And then season 12 ends with Cas’ death, but also with the parallel between Sam and Dean with Jess and Cas.  Sam literally has to drag Dean away from Cas, just like Dean had to drag Sam out of his burning apartment in the pilot.  The episode drives it home in every way that it can: Dean is the one left kneeling by Cas’ body, while Sam goes to find out what is upstairs.  Dean is the one who stares at the sky, finally broken.  This isn’t a random thing, this is Dean’s whole arc, it’s the entirety of the beginning of 13.  Dean’s pain, his anguish, his anger.
Season 13 starts with them burning Cas, with Dean, who has begged God to bring him back, who has split his knuckles punching a door, standing, staring at Cas’ pyre with brokenness on his face.
I mean.....
Anyway, season 13 is where it gets interesting (well, I think all of this is interesting but I’m a writer nerd so).  So Cas comes back from the Empty in “Advanced Thanatology” written by Steve Yockey, and then a wombo combo of “Tombstone” by Davy Perez next (”Brokebacknatural” as the PR said at the time).  Listen.  This is the part that SPN crossed a line that they couldn’t come back from.  With Cas being Dean’s “big win,” the fact that Dean and Cas watch movies together, “I told you, he’s an angry sleeper.  Like a bear.” Talked about it here.
This is where, in my opinion, the network stepped in, but the damage was already done.  They had already established that Cas was Dean’s big win, that Dean’s poor coping was not due to Mary’s disappearance, but solely due to Cas, and that Dean and Cas have more married energy than anyone else.  The network had nixed blatant canon at this point, and they writing room had been pushing the boundaries of what the network would allow.
After these episodes, we see a marked drop off of DeanCas heavy scenes.  They’re still there, still a part of the fabric of the season, but not as...obvious as it had been in early season 13.
And this continued through season 14, we’re back to scraps of Destiel scenes here and there, but to me it always felt like there was something bubbling under the surface, something distinctly unsaid in the themes of the season, even after the walk back of obvious “Dean and Cas are in love” scenes.
And then we get to season 15, which, y’all know I talk about all the time.  What’s important here is that Bobo and Glynn are both executive producers, calling more of the shots than ever before.  Additionally, it’s important to note that, though they only co write occasionally, Glynn and Berens refer to each other as “work husband” and “work wife.”  Each episode has just turned up the volume, and, not for the first time, but certainly the most obvious, Dean and Cas ARE the season.  Sure, they’re trying to beat God, they’re trying to finally find peace, defeat the final big bad, but really?  This season has been about Dean, and Dean’s relationship to Cas.
And not only do we have obvious and clear Destiel in nearly every episode, but we have episodes like “Last Call” which canonize bi!Dean (wrote about that here).
And, maybe most importantly so far, we have “The Rupture,” the breakup, and “The Trap,” Dean’s confession (both written by Berens).  And here’s the thing.  These episodes feel connected, but also feel like they’re missing something.  Beren’s last episode is 15x18, “The Truth.”  We’ve all spec’ed about what could happen in this episode, and I think *I* know what it’s leading to.  But for it to be leading to that, it means that the network has to have approved what we’ve all been waiting for years for.
Who got this change to happen?  Who got the network to change their minds?  It wasn’t us.  It was them.  I am fully convinced that Dabb and Berens quite literally put their careers on the line for Dean and Cas.  They believe in them, they’ve shown that from the beginning, but the only thing standing in the way was the network, never allowing them to take the final step.
So, to answer your question: I think the writers want canon DeanCas because they’ve already shown us that they do.  Take a look at their episodes, at Dabb’s, at Beren’s, at Glynn’s, at Perez’s, at Yockey’s.  They’ve been telling us what’s going on with Dean and Cas for years.
Sure, I’m not in their heads, I guess I don’t know for *sure* that this has been their thought process, but if we put it all together, from the marked shift when Dabb fully took over in s12, to the change right after “Tombstone,” to the new shift, the blatantly romantic shift in season 15, what else is there?
I’ve said for a long time that we, the SPN fandom, are beyond lucky to have the writer’s that we do.  They’re all going to go on to have prolific careers and we were lucky to get them at the end of our little show.  I give them a lot of credit for what we have in the show today.
Just remember, they’ve been telling us in all of s15 who Chuck is.  He says he’s the writer, right?  But a writer who doesn’t have control of his characters?  A writer who wants to do the same ending over and over because it “works”?  That doesn’t sound like a writer, it sounds like a network exec.
They’ve been showing us what they want for years, and the way s15 is going?  I think they may have convinced the network to let us have it.

in your expert opinion what are some of the most destiel-heavy episodes of spn? i stopped watching around season 7 and have no interest in engaging w the plot of the show at all but i’m in the mood for some gay yearning ykwim
Hi anon! Thank you for reaching out to me about this, I’m, no-joke, very flattered. I’d seen a couple posts on this same question, very thorough and detailed lists on Destiel-centric episodes, but at the moment I cannot find any of them, that would’ve answered your request much faster. So, in advance, sorry, my reply is probably coming in extremely late, but I did write this from scratch, so yeah.
Even though storylines in SPN can be very shitty and hollow, I do feel that to get the full Destiel experience -that long-drawn yearning- one would have to watch the entirety of the show, even if Cas isn’t in the episode or if there’s no explicit mention of their relationship/bond because it gives you a better understanding of them as characters and of how their relationship affects the narrative.
Now, you mentioned you stopped around S7, which is completely understandable and justified given the Dick plot game was very weak and, in my opinion, annoying (so little Cas!). I’m going to start listing from S7 in case you want to refresh your SPN before jumping straight into unseen episodes. Also, since you mentioned no interest in the plot and are specifically craving those sweet crumbs of gay yearning, I’ll skip most one-sided / too subtle episodes and cut to the chase.
Lastly, I hate spoiling things, but you’ve probably seen it all on Tumblr. I tried to keep the episodes’ descriptions short, as it might come in useful. Stuck to key words, quotes and/or little comments.
 Season 7
7x01 – Meet the New Boss: Godstiel, sincere apology. Cas: “I'm gonna find some way to redeem myself to you.”
7x02 – Hello, Cruel World: Mourning. Trench coat melancholy. The heart-wrenching eulogy: “Dumb son of a bitch.”
7x17 – The Born-Again Identity: Emmanuel!Cas, reunion, longing, hurt.
7x21 – Reading is Fundamental: Honey!Cas, hug, hurt, reunion, that painful SORRY (board game) scene.
7x23 – Survival of the Fittest: Honey!Cas, forgiveness, adorable, wified Cas. Dean hits us with: “Nobody cares that you're broken, Cas!" but also “I'd rather have you, cursed or not.”
Season 8 (this season is so good and Destiel is the driving motor of it, I swear. If you can, watch it complete.)
8x01 – We Need to Talk About Kevin: Dean in Purgatory looking for the angel.  Cas is referred to as “your [Dean’s] angel.”
8x02 – What’s Up, Tiger Mommy?: HUG!!!, Purgatory reunion, face touch, very romantic. Monster: “ You'll find your angel there.” //  Dean: “Let me bottom-line it for you. I'm not leaving here without you.”
8x05 – Blood Brother: Cas vs. Benny cat fight lol. Dean: “Cas... we're gonna shove your ass back through the eye of that needle if it kills all three of us.”
8x07 – A Little Slice of Kevin: Cas comes back from Purgatory, but before that Dean starts seeing him in places. Very tragic; hallucinating your dead significant other trope. Has That boner scene. Dean: “I did everything I could to get you out! EVERYTHING!” Cas helps Dean see what truly happened in Purgatory and not his self-altered memories. PACKED!
8x08 – Hunteri Heroici: Hilarious, romantic, intimate. Dean and Cas have an heart to heart. They actually communicate. Cas “I’ll watch over you.”
8x10 Torn and Frayed: They work a case together, and when I say heart eyes…
8x17 – Goodbye Stranger: THIS. EPISODE. Dean “I need you.”
8x19 – Taxi Driver: Separation. Naomi to Dean: "You're hoping Castiel will return to you. I admire your loyalty; I only wish he felt the same way."
8x22 – Clip Show: Lack of trust, hurt, tense interactions. Romantic too (basically, Cas gets Dean an apology basket).
8x23 – Sacrifice: Meaningful conversation and a gay couple hit by Cupid parallel. Dean “So this is it? E.T goes home?"
 Season 9
9x01 – I think I’m Gonna Like it Here: Dean prays to Cas IN.A.CHAPEL. Worry, longing, separation. Dean “Please, man, I need you here.”
9x03 – I’m No Angel: Human!Cas and jealous!Dean.
9x06 – Heaven Can’t Wait: Human!Cas TEXT-BOOK LONGING. GAY AS FUCK. Gazing, touching, they even TALK (for real).
9x09 – Holy Terror: Adorable Cas, flirty vibes, happyish, funny. Cas: “Cas is back in town!”
9x10 – Road Trip: Cas comforts Dean, Cas and Crowley bitching at each other, overall protective!Cas.
9x18 – Metafiction. Cas finds out about the Mark of Cain.
9x21 – King of the Damned: Hug, strong boyfriends vibes.
9x22 – Stairway to Heaven: Cas gives up an entire army, for Dean. Metatron about Cas “He's in love………………………. with humanity.”
9x23  – Do You Believe in Miracles?: At this point, it’s canon stated that Cas will do anything and lose everything if that means saving Dean. Metatron to Cas “You draped yourself in the flag of heaven, but ultimately, it was all about saving one human, right?”
 Season 10
10x01 – Black: Demon!Dean and sick/brokenhearted Cas in a slutty robe missing his man.
10x03 – Soul Survivor: ICONIC. Angel on Demon action! Cas turns down Hannah because he’s too gay and in love. Intimate Deancas talk.
10x05 – Fan Fiction: No Cas, but Destiel references.
10x09 – The Things We Left Behind: That.Lunch.Date. Deancas introduction to co-parenting.
10x14 – The Executioner’s Song: We get Daddy Murder aka Cain. This is a Pivotal episode to understand Dean’s character development. Plus, it has Deancas interactions.
10x16 – Paint It Black: No Cas, but Dean opens up in confessionary; repressed BISEXUAL AS FUCK.
10x18 – Book of the Damned: Charlie meets Cas. Gay energies everywhere. Cute domestic little scene.
10x20 – Angel Heart: PARENTING! Essential to understand Cas from this point forward.
10x22 – The Prisoner: Just… just watch it. One of THEE Destiel episodes.
10x23 – Brother’s Keeper: No Deancas interactions but it’s the finale, and I recommend watching it because next season takes off literally right from here. No time jumps.
 Season 11
11x02 – Form and Void: Could skip to the very end which is when Cas comes back.
11x03 – The Bad Seed: Cursed!Cas. Dean takes care of him, even wraps him in a blanket. He also cradles his face. Extreme Hurt/Comfort. Jacting joices rejoice.
11x10 – The Devil in the Details: Could skip but has Casifer in it. Interesting to see his dynamic with Dean.
11x18 – Hell’s Angel: Casifer. Dean "It? It's not an it, Sam, it's Cas!"
11x23 – Alpha and Omega: Huggg! Cas willing to go on a guaranteed suicide mission with Dean. Very tender and sad.
 Season 12
12x02 – Keep Calm and Carry On: ANOTHER HUG! Dean presents his boyfriend to his mom<3 Soft and romantic.
12x09 – First Blood: Reunion hug<3, Cas pining… as in he counts his every minute without Dean.
12x10 – Lily Sunder Has Some Regrets: Direct parallel with canon couple. Crystal-clear mutual affection. One of the best. Angel Ishim to Cas about Dean “I'm gonna help you. I'm gonna cure you of your human weakness same way I cured my own… by cutting it out.”
12x12 – Stuck in the Middle with You: A dying Cas confesses his love. “I love you. I love all of you.”
12x19 – The Future: We find out Dean gave Cas a MIXTAPE!!! Very romantic and full of yearning, also worry and what could be seen as a betrayal (ish…).
12x23 – All Along the Watch Tower: Hands down, one of the most distressing Destiel episodes. Cas dies.
 Season 13
13x01 – Lost and Found: This is the worst because you have Dean trying to assimilate Cas’ death. Core of Dean’s widow’s arc. Jack introduction, that’s their new kid.
13x02 – The Rising Son: Widow’s arc (you could skip it, but why would you?).
13x03 – Patience: Widow’s arc (you could skip it, but why would you?). Dean to Sam “He manipulated him, he made him promises, said, ‘paradise on earth’ and Cas bought it and you know what that got him? It got him dead! Now you might be able to forget about that, but I can’t!”
13x04 – The Big Empty: Continuation of widow’s arc and Cas wakes up in the Empty. The Empty to Cas: "I know who you love. There's nothing for you back there." // Dean to Sam “I need you to keep the faith, for both of us. ‘Cause right now, I… Right now, I don’t believe in a damn thing.”
13x05 – Advanced Thanatology: Suicidal and hopeless Dean gets his win. Cas comes back. Gives me the chills.
13x06 – Tombstone: COWBOY BOYFRIENDS!
13x14 – Good Intentions: Happy and fun Destiel scene. So Very Married.
13x23 – Let The Good Times Roll: Season finale, Dean talks about retiring (plans include Cas of course) and just very nice to see them interact.
Season 14
14x03 – The Scar: Reunion.
14x08 – Byzantium: Deanand Cas dealing with their child’s death, then bringing him back by Cas making a deal with the Empty. IMPORTANT EPISODE.
14x09 – The Spear: Cas uses the royal We – married behavior.
14x10 – Nihilism: Dean is stuck in his own mind, and Cas and Sam try to bring him back. Cas “Please, you have to -- you have to try to remember, because the people in your life -- in your real life, out there -- we need you to come back.”
14x12 – Prophet and Loss: Dean gets his very own Dr. Sexy, aka Dr. Cas.
14x14 – Ouroboros: Basically another date (their kid tags along) and They TALK. Very intimate and established marriage vibes.
14x18 – Absence: Shits starts to go south. [ Dean: “Who cares what Jack said? We don't know what happened! But I swear, if he did something to her, if she is -- (points to Castiel) Then you're dead to me. (Castiel looks crushed after Dean says that).]
14x20 – Moriah: Tense and very upsetting. Relationship very damaged.
Season 15 (I would advise watching the entire season because it relies heavily on Destiel. They’re the heart and the emotional motor leading the plot onwards.)
15x01 – Back and To The Future: Deancas’ in the aftermath of their kid’s death. Tension gets worse.
15x02 – Raising Hell: Tension rises, this is very intense. Cas “Dean. You asked, "What about all of this is real?" We are.”
15x03 – The Rupture: Breaking point ends in divorce.
15x06 – Golden Time: Painful phone call which speaks volumes about the current state of their relationship at the time. Also, good to see where they’re standing and how they’re coping.
15x08 – Our Father Who Aren’t in Heaven: Strained relationship so obvious they’re offered couples’ therapy.
15x09 – The Trap: MASTERPIECE. Back to Purgatory. Can (and is) taken as Dean’s love confession (because it is).
15x12 – Galaxy Brain: So married. Little domestic date, you can see LOVE written in their faces.
15x13 – Destiny’s Child: AU!Dean and Sam. Not a yearning episode per se, but AU!Dean? SO GAY.
15x17 – Unity: God reveals that the only act of free will in any universe he ever created has been Cas choosing Dean.
15x18 – Despair: Cas confesses his love to Dean.

can I say thoughts on supernatural as a whole or is that too much 🙈
Oh hell yeah you can. This is gonna be long sorry but I need to get it out of my system. I’ve been watching spn since winter 2011 so season 7 aka the leviathans and I’ve watched every season as it aired since then (with the exceptions of 14 and 15). There is a very large part of me that hates this show with a passion because it’s, well, bad. But an even larger part of me loves it so much because I’ve been watching it for a fucking decade. I’m so attached to the characters like I think about destiel and I get teary eyed. But at the same time, this show is just really fucking bad. The writing is terrible (although I’ve come to love it over time), the plots are always insane, and the acting is just overall shitty. Idk it’s just not a good show. At all. And not to mention the nearly complete lack of poc, rampant racism (the amount of times they say Indian in that show drives me crazy), the killing off of like all women, and a lot of the language is really harmful. I recognize that the show started a hella long time ago but that doesn’t excuse any of that, at all.
Honestly, the version of the show in my mind is completely different than the one in real life. Like I watch the show all the time, but I only watch specific episodes. I very rarely watch an entire season by myself. I have been showing my sister the show and we’re on season 4 so I’m probably gonna have to sit through the rest of the show with her. It’s very interesting to view the show through the eyes of someone who knows absolutely nothing about it, because I’ve been immersed in it for over half my life, and she knows absolutely nothing about it.
My thoughts on this show are very complicated because, as you’ve read, it’s a complicated show. I could probably talk about this forever but I don’t think I structured this very well so I might just end it here lolol.
I will add that for the first 9 and a half years, I was wholeheartedly a Sam girl. He was my favorite and I was like insanely in love with him. But now I’ve reevaluated and since I’ve come out as a lesbian, ironically, Dean is my favorite character. There’s just something so special about him I can’t even describe it.

Ranking Every SPN Season Finale
Tumblr media
15) 11.23 Alpha and Omega. Dead last because not only is Chuck and Amara’s conflict defanged with a frankly silly anticlimax, but a lot of runtime is eaten up with establishing Lady Toni getting on a plane. The great weakness of an otherwise very strong season is that none of the awful compromises Sam and Dean and Cas made (especially Sam wrt Lucifer) ended up having relevance at all.
14) 9.23 Do You Believe In Miracles. Cheesy dying dialogue, Metatron hamming it up for way too long, that facepalming “the radio was on the whole! time!” twist, uncertainty as to the motivation of the whole confrontation that ends in Dean’s death. Also, this is the beginning of the end of walking back the beautiful work the rest of s9 established, with Sam saying things like “I lied.” I don’t like Dean’s death here at all, in staging, or conceptually, or thematically.
13) 12.23 All Along The Watchtower. I am basically obliged to put this in C tier because it is quite silly, but frankly, I like it more than its ranking deserves. It has the late season finale sin of cramming in an introduction to next season’s conflict in the middle of wrapping up this season’s—but it’s absolutely hilarious that they brought in multiverse portals. And for Sam and Dean, thank god the portal appeared, because otherwise they had absolutely no plan whatsoever to deal with Lucifer, and they probably would have died gruesomely. High points: Sam discovering Rowena’s death on the phone with Lucifer; the spooky introduction of Jack, the raised stakes with Mary trapped with Lucifer. Lowest point: the utter silly pointlessness of Cas’s death.
12) 10.23 Brother’s Keeper. This is the finale that I have the strongest mixed feelings about. There is a queasy lack of self-awareness in the treacly sentiment when Sam presents family photos as evidence of Dean’s goodness. The excuse of MOC!Dean as not the “real” Dean allows for the reasons behind this confrontation to be elided, even as its themes are echoed again and again. The chilling horror of Sam on his knees in front of Dean the executioner is potent and darkly enjoyable, but the instant redirection into attacking Death prevents any kind of real culmination. I can’t decide if I like this episode or loathe it, but I do think I appreciate it more now, after 14.20 and 15.17, than I did when it aired.
11) 7.23 Survival of the Fittest. We’re on to B-tier! There’s nothing significantly wrong with 7.23. Meg crashes the Impala through a glass sign, so that’s fun. Kevin’s there. There’s action, there’s some cool stakes for next season established, Sam is left alone, which I love. The main sin here is just that most of it is fairly forgettable, because the strongest part of s7 was always the psychological drama of the Winchesters’ disintegration and isolation, not the physical conflict with Leviathans.
10) 14.20 Moriah. Lots of my points about 10.23 apply here, but Moriah is a much better episode, both because there is actual conflict of opinion, and because there is a lot more built-in uncertainty about Jack’s fate than Sam’s. Jack and Dean are onboard with Jack’s murder, just as Sam and Dean were agreed on Sam’s death in 10.23, but this time Cas is staunchly against it, and Sam is on the fence, torn as to how to intervene. So it’s much better drama. But then the crux of the issue gets defanged by Chuck’s reveal. Great s15 setup, but kicks the 14.17-14.19 build down the road. Extra points for Sam shooting God.
9) 13.23 Let the Good Times Roll. I fucking love the 13.21-13.23 arc. The only thing preventing 13.23 from being A-tier are some wholly avoidable mistakes. The staging is silly; a face-palming amount of time was wasted on Maggie; the wires were a deeply regrettable choice. But even with all that, what we got was great, actually! The Sam-Jack-Lucifer church custody battle is still my favorite goddamn thing. Dean saying yes to Michael was both his only smart move and a devastating sacrifice. The character dynamics here are so JUICY. 13.21-14.01 is, IMO, one of the most fertile grounds for fic and speculation in the entire show.
8) 2.22 All Hell Breaks Loose, Part Two. Now we’re into finales that are fantastic without reservation. Off the devastation of Sam’s death comes Dean’s iconic deal. The actual confrontation in the graveyard is good too, though it’s second to the way we’re all reeling from part one. Azazel dies, Sam and Dean are bloodied and facing down new stakes. The only thing I dislike about this episode is John’s cameo.
7) 1.22 Devil’s Trap. This is the episode that ups the ante! Azazel in John, and Dean, and Sam, and the delicious family dynamic here; the stakes are so personal, and it’s a great examination what each of them is willing to pay for their quest: an electrifying taste of what’s to come. And the music, and the sheer fucking balls of just, crashing a goddamn truck into your main characters at the end of the first season. Nice.
6) 3.16 No Rest for the Wicked. Lilith is delightfully evil. We’re on tenterhooks for Sam to save Dean, we’re narratively primed to expect him to pull off something amazing, a last-minute miracle. But—nope! Sorry! Dean gets graphically ripped apart onscreen and now he’s being tortured in Hell! Shocking and bold, and a crucial turning point in the series.
5) 4.22 Lucifer Rising. Fresh off 4.21 comes an excellent culmination of season 4′s devastation. The reveals from both Ruby and the angels, Sam draining the possessed nurse, Cas at last choosing to betray Heaven, and the final arrival of Lucifer: it all just works, really well.
4) 15.20 Carry On. Part of the reason I’m ranking this so highly might be spite. But goddammit, bad wig and worse Carry On cover aside, this is a good episode, and a really, really good series finale! The deliberate anticlimax of Dean’s death, the quiet strength in Sam’s grief, the untroubled, unrushed pacing of Sam’s recovery and aging, and Dean’s drive. Supernatural said Sam Rights, and I wept like a tiny little baby.
3) 6.22 The Man Who Knew Too Much. Adventures in Sam’s mind! Cas and Crowley and Raphael and the double cross! The taste of cosmic horror! The end of season 6 and beginning of season 7, as Sam and Dean cope simultaneously with Sam’s psychological fallout and the consequences of their most powerful ally going off the rails, is fantastic. I love the literalism and the symbolism of Sam’s reintegration: this is an unapologetically Sam episode (as are the other top four, come to think of it).
2) 8.23 Sacrifice. Sam’s heartbreaking deterioration in the church and Crowley’s disintegration are an electrifying climax to the trials. Dean and Sam’s final exchange is a breathtaking combination of raw emotion and delirium and a fascinating guilt trip. It’s a visually and conceptually stunning episode: the angels fall burning against a night sky; Sam surrenders the trials and collapses, dying.
1) 5.22 Swan Song. You knew this would be number one, I knew this would be number one, we all knew this would be number one. It’s iconic for a reason. Sam and Lucifer talking through a mirror; the loss of all hope and the sky-high stakes. Stull Cemetery is the defining moment of so, so much of the rest of the series. Dean’s loyalty gives Sam the strength he needs to bury himself alive forever with his worst nightmare, and it saves the world, and it’s the highest cost either of them has ever paid.

Hi!!!!! I've been following you for a while and all your posts about Destiel are pulling me straight back to the fandom. I stopped watching around season 9/10 but your enthusiasm is so awesome and I love seeing all your posts on my dash!!!! I've only watched each episode once, but do you have any favorite episodes to rewatch? And do you have any fic recs? I'm so excited that you're excited, it's so contagious. Thank you for being you and for being so lovely! 😆
HELLO thank you so much I’m so glad to share this happiness with you... the absolute hysteria of the implications of this thing
Favourite episodes to rewatch:
As I’ve linked before, this is a great list of Destiel moments to 14. In terms of my personal favourites that aren’t necessarily Destiel oriented (except that as soon as we get to s7 who am I kidding):

*literally any episode with Castiel from here on out and now even MORE SO given the recent Implication of 15.18. Just go to his wiki page lol. Also Season 4-5 really does fuck when it’s plot related wow.
Fic recs:
Ok these are just the fics I’ve read recently, I know there’s a bunch of stuff that was written pre-s7 that isn’t here but I haven’t gone back through my rec lists and evaluated what’s stood up to the test of time. So these are the ones I’ve evaluated on my recent binge over the past year:
Down To Agincourt
I haven’t remotely finished this, I’m reading it right now. Get past the first chapter being purple prosey (this is what kept me back from reading it before this month and MISTAKE) and you’ll be like. What. the. fuck. Incroyable. Over a million words of End-Verse angst and pining but also has humour and some absolutely outstanding writing. Ben Edlund come collect your legacy. The premise is that Dean from s7 post-Cas death gets sent back to the 5.04 world at the moment he left it, and takes over from End-Verse Dean - and starts to fight for a hopeful future. My one caveat is so far there’s been very little mention/concern over Sam but it’s FINE because this is SO GOOD. Technically a WIP but being updated.
Ninety One Whiskey and anything by komodobits (warning A Complete Kingdom is very good but has an unhappy ending).
Don’t know if you’re getting the feeling that I like extremely long fanfic but uh.... frankly if it’s not 300,000 words of pining it’s not a slow burn. After I finished this I literally had one of those moments where I had to lie down and stare into space and by ‘moments’ I mean like a full 24 hours. Life changing. World War II AU that is so artfully rendered and researched that it makes literally anyone who thinks they could be a writer cry.
You Can Keep Holding On and anything by NorthernSparrow
If we hadn’t had SPN go past S5 I’m not sure NorthernSparrow would have gotten into Destiel and that alone is why post s5 SPN deserves rights. Relative to komodobits, always happy endings and fluffy and so on. One of the rare authors who also writes AUs with rights. NorthernSparrow is a... nature academic? Of some kind, and that plays into their fics - lots of references to Castiel’s wings and bird anatomy.
Redemption Road
I’ve literally also not finished this even though I’ve got halfway through it three times now over the past decade slkdfjlskdjflkds SORRY my attention span cuts out when they get together don’t @ me. Variable quality sometimes because they have a team of different writers that came together to write an alternate Season 7, but overall really really good and some of the writers are incredible. Also like love it bc they just flexed on the writing team at SPN so hard with this. Has an alternate epilogue which happened because the writing team disagreed on the ending and had a whole drama (we love group projects) which I believe is better than the original(?), although having not read it to the end I can’t testify to that.
Ok I simply can’t continue to fill your dash with long descriptions so here’s some more recs in shorter forms, (canon-verse because what’s an AU? I don’t know her) and favourite authors: All Things Shining, The Law of Equivalent Exchange, Dean and Cas’ Top 13 Zepp Traxx, Where the Weeds Take Root, and just for a palate cleanser, the very funny crack fic Broadway Musical. Also some authors who have written a lot of rec-worthy canon-verse fics: aeli_kindara (some SERIOUSLY good and happy fics here), xylodemon, pantheon_of_discord.
My bookmarks folder is currently an unorganised MESS, usually I have things bookmarked on my Diigo but since a) most of these aren’t on there and b) I can’t verify the quality of fics I read before my destiel hiatus, this is the best I got! I’ll update and organise all my destiel bookmarks one day sorry...

Thoughts on: Why SPN never had Dean acknowledge or talk to Sam about their shared experiences with possession. Why Dean's experiences with Michael were made to seem worse while Sam's were brushed off.
Oh goddd this has always been one of the weird and frustrating blind spots of canon. Because honestly? I don’t think we’ve ever had the show directly confront Sam’s feelings about the violations of being possessed. Not once. With Meg, the incident is promptly forgotten about by the next ep, with the only consequence being the anti possession tattoos (at least, I remember them showing up after this ep?). And then we had Lucifer. Sam’s reactions to Lucifer are mainly directed through his experiences in the Cage, and not through the fact that he had been possessed by Lucifer...in fact, I don’t know if it was ever mentioned again in the aftermath. Gadreel came the closest to this acknowledgment but it was frustalingly directed mainly in the ways it would affect Dean, and of the source of the violation from Dean’s end, and even that was papered over pretty quickly. We saw nothing of Sam’s feelings about the actual experience of being possessed. After season 9, we never remember it again.
Dean with Michael though? There is acknowledgement of its impact on his psyche. We see the direct line between the violation and the descent of his mental state throughout season 14. And that’s great! But Sam has had three go arounds with this, and we didn’t see the impact on him with the same care. We didn’t even get to see them commiserate about their shared experiences! Because honestly, I think it could have benefitted them both. But the writers don’t watch like more than 2 seasons prior to the one they write for so 😔 0 follow through.

Sorry, took a long time to respond again (anon asking for random SPN thoughts here) - hmm it might be something you've talked about already, but what do you have to say about Dean's growth throughout the seaons ? Like, the big bullet points of it, and what you feel like each arc added to his character/changed him (for better or worse) ? If that's too big a question, honestly wouldn't mind at all some more inspired season 10 babbling from you though, anything that you'd have fun talking about
Mmm. It’s an interesting topic but I don’t know if I have any particular insight to make right on the spot. I’ll just make a quick recap, then maybe we can start from there if you have something specific you want to explore together?
Season 1 is the introduction of the character - more like, building him - so basically the season says, here, this is one of our main characters. Get attached to him :)
Season 2 says, okay, you know that character you just got attached to? It would be a pity if something were to happen to him, right? :) :) :) Ta-da, we’ve broken him ^-^
Season 3 is like. Let’s explore what it means for him to be completely broken with no hope of ever getting put back together. (He doesn’t fight back.)
Season 4 then says. What happens when he gets put back together? (He fights back.)
Season 5 says: let’s make the whole fighting back a bit difficult and see what happens (he goes through a complex journey but decides to fight back on his terms.)
Season 6 is like: okay, that was cool. We’re going to, guess what. Break him again but in a specifically more feminine-coded way this time. (The abused wife.)
Season 7 continues the job, like: what happens if we take literally everything away from him? (He’s super suicidal.) Alright, he’s got nothing left, let’s start adding something back again. (He starts healing.)
Season 8 is like. Who is he when you add things back? (People notice he’s queer.)
Season 9 is like. Okay! We re-established the character again. Now whoop, rug pulled from under his feet again. What happens when he loses the only thing he had not lost the other time (his brother’s trust)? (He makes himself an object.)
Season 10 is like. So, he's broken again but is it really the same as when it happened before? Or has he grown somewhat? (He has.)
Season 11 is like. So, what happens now? How does that change manifests?
Season 12 is like... whoops, we didn’t get cancelled after all. Let’s re-explore him from the beginning... the very beginning of the character.
Season 13 says. Okay you know what we do after a season of exploring/establishing... I mean you should know by now. Yep, break him again. Except it’s not really fresh now. So let’s explore how he breaks depending on what and how much we take away from him. I think. I don’t remember s13 that much.
Season 14 then says, what if we take himself away from him? In multiple ways.
Season 15 kind of continues that and explores how that manifests on his relationships, and technically completes the journey except it’s not allowed to so it just freezes there.
What do you think? Is there something specific you want to explore?

Hey there Lyd 💖 Hope you're doing well! I know you have impeccable taste (your favorite movie is BATB 2017 after all 😊) and it seems we also have the same taste in TV shows (Anne with an E, The Queen's Gambit) I'm looking for a new show to watch during my lunch break, something soft and not too dark and preferably short. Any suggestions?
oh ho ho!!! i’m honored you’d come to me!! i’ve watched a plethora of shows. i’ll do my best to remember all of them and i hope you find something that sticks!!! i don’t watch any dark stuff, and as far as length goes, i’ll just list it out for ya ! + i’ll put a 🌸 by my personal faves. like yeah sure i recommend any of these but, beloveds, you know?
sit-coms/20 min eps:
that 70s show (8 seasons) 🌸
new girl (7 seasons)
schitt’s creek (6 seasons) 🌸
frasier (12 seasons)
friends (10 seasons) 🌸
parks and recreation (7 seasons) 🌸
the office (9 seasons)
community (6 seasons, but honestly. i only really enjoyed the first four...)
the good place (4 seasons. i actually haven’t finished 4 yet, but i’ve heard amazing things about the finale)
bob’s burgers (11 seasons, still going! i actually haven’t seen it all the way through, but literally 15/10 always a pleasure) 🌸
fresh off the boat (6 seasons. actually also haven’t finished this show but i still recommend!! very funny)
we bare bears (4 seasons & only 10 minute eps!! also haven’t finished but literally such a soft and cute time. you will not be disappointed it’s just a delight)
period dramas - 40 min-1 hr eps:
call the midwife (10 seasons (11 coming!) i love this show so much it’s my current comfort show!!) 🌸
anne with an e (3 seasons) 🌸
the queen’s gambit (1 season)
the great (1 season (2 coming out!))
poldark (5 seasons) (my beloved) 🌸
downton abbey (6 seasons + movie)
the crown (4 seasons (5+6 planned))
bridgerton (1 season (2 coming??) i loved this show, the aesthetic was impeccable, but personally could’ve majorly done without the sexual content!! that’s just me though! and it’s not terribly explicit until ep 5 i think? anyway)
dramas/shows that prove that i actually lied to you and i do watch some “dark” stuff - 40 min-1 hr eps:
law & order: svu (22?? seasons??? i started at 13. it’s not that plot important, start wherever you want. i just watched it for barba, my fictional husband, who’s in 14-19. but don’t watch his last episode because it doesn’t exist<3)
supernatural (15 seasons. yes yes i know there’s a whole bunch of things about spn but i am literally rewatching it right now so it goes on the list!)
hannibal (3 seasons. definitely the darkest of the shows. i watched it with my friend jess, as it is one of her faves. it’s. i mean. you can see who it’s about. but cinematically? it is stunning.)
bojack horseman (6 seasons. this show is actually funny, too! it just has major dark themes and tones. it’s a really good show but it handles serious topics so it’s definitely not a light-hearted show)
legion (3 seasons. i watched this for our boy dan stevens!!! he’s the lead!! but also it’s one of my best friend’s favorite shows and i probably wouldn’t have watched it on my own, ya know? i didn’t love it, but still a good time! but i can talk on it more if you’re interested lmao.)
and last, i won’t go on a youtube tangent but my favorite channel there is watcher and my favorite show on that channel is puppet history!! generally 30 minute eps (i think around 20 episodes currently?? season 3 just finished) and always a good time. but they have other great shows too!! watcher is just 10/10 🌸🌸🌸

check-in tag :)
thank you @userjiminie for tagging me!! 💖
1. Why did you choose your url?
years ago @un-buttoned wanted a new ao3 username and i helped her look through rare words dictionaries and found the word kerasine which means horny as in horn-shaped and i thought it was funny and sounded nice. and i really wanted a non-fandom url so i wouldn’t have to keep changing it every year lol
2. Any sideblogs? If you have them name them and why you have them?
i have a whole bunch, but the only one that’s really active atm is @witcherrarepair which i’m DETERMINED to keep running even though i’m kind of already like two hyperfixations removed
3. How long have you’ve been on tumblr?
january 2012 so... over 9 years?? oh god
4. Do you have a queue tag?
nah i veeery rarely use a queue anymore. my followers know i might just suddenly spam them with 200 sauron thirst posts or whatever weird random thing i happen to get into on any given day
5. Why did you start your blog in the first place?
my first blog? i was looking for the rdj sherlock holmes movie online, found bbc sherlock instead, googled when the next season airs, found a tumblr blog and fell into tumblr fandom headfirst
this blog? about a year later, i watched spn and got into wincest, and figured i should maybe make a new secret blog for that and don’t tell my friends and family the url this time
6. Why did you choose your icon?
wanted a non-fandom icon and looked through my aesthetic folder that i keep for moodboards
7. Why did you choose your header?
wanted a non-fandom header and looked through my art tag for something nice
8. What’s your post with the most notes?
uhhhh probably still this stevebucky shitpost
9. How many mutuals do you have?
80, apparently (i actually went and counted them for this i hope you all appreciate it)
10. How many followers do you have?
2.2k ish
11. How many people do you follow?
200 ish
12. Have you ever made a shitpost?
yes
13. How often do you use tumblr each day?
i don’t need to answer that you’re not my mom (too often :( )
14. Did you have a fight/argument with another blog once? Who won?
probably a few arguments back in the day? i mostly can’t be bothered anymore, and for some reason people leave me alone despite my many controversial opinions and problematic ships lmao
15. How do you feel about “you need to reblog this” posts?
annoying for the most part. real talk, a lot of people use tumblr as a space to get away from the seriousness of real life for a while, especially if they’re involved in activism irl, or experience oppression themselves, or, you know, read the news and talk about it outside of social media, like most adults do!
16. Do you like tag games?
i love them!!! even though i’m really bad at doing them!!! if you ever tagged me in something it brought a smile to my face and i love you and pls keep doing it even though i’m terrible and end up forgetting it half the time!!!
17. Do you like ask games?
yes but i almost never reblog those posts because i feel like no one’s gonna send me asks
18. Which of your mutuals do you think is tumblr famous?
my mutuals are more infamous than famous i think
19. Do I have a crush on a mutual?
of course, every single one!!
20. Tags?
no idea who did this already but @un-buttoned @jlf23tumble @alienfuckeronmain @sir-transcelot @got2gh0st @scottspack @doushk @tousledot @missmauvelous @annablume @hosnack @laurelnose
