Tens of thousands of people rallied yesterday (Nov 4 2023) in Bilbo to protest against the lawfare that constantly attacks the Basque language and its speakers.
In the last years we've had to comply with
sentences banning call a baby Hazia (seed) because the judge considered it may mean semen;
sentences banning official paperwork just for inner use in the council being in Basque, when said town is 100% Basque speaking;
sentences that exempt a public worker from learning Basque because "it's very difficult";
sentences that impose that the knowledge of Basque language isn't mandatory to become a Basque public worker;
etc.
All of them have come after judicial processes were started by Spanish nationalist and far right parties PP and Vox. So what they can't achieve in the elections - be in power in Euskadi - they try to achieve with their judges.

i seem to be in my hotel with a spare hour (kerala is getting v hyper for new years eve, they're going to burn a giant version of a south Indian santa claus, we are going to be watching them from a distance), so here are random 2023 highlights summed up in 10 pics!
Jan. hibernation. am shamelessly bribed by an illustrator into supporting his book because hehe look.
Feb. mallorca with the mum/sis/spanish cousin!
March, organised a big old fun book party for hundreds of kids on a school strike day.
April, bank hol, wandered around sussex hills, fell in love with Charleston. i want my house like this.
May, nommed for best kid's bookshop. (lost to the country's biggest chain lol). wore a fancy sari!
June, school friend's wedding! we found the shoes, but the groom is a cunning boy.
July, singing at the proms, baby!
august, fucken wimdy. clambered around [1-2] sisters in sussex with visiting cousin and her sweet spanish bf.
September, street festival, filled it with families, shout out to the sister for scurrying up and down the hill with hundreds of chairs.

Mary & George is adapted from The King's Assassin by Benjamin Woolley, a nonfiction book that details "the conspiracy to kill King James I by his handsome lover, the Duke of Buckingham."

Nov 5, 2023: This is from Jan 11, 2021 btw!! Old old old headcanons but I still like them
Raph
(Head’s up- almost everything I headcannon on the big guy is me projecting)
-Genderfluid/Genderqueer (thanks sascha) Panromantic Demiromantic Asexual
-He’s the least educated on LBGTQIA+ terms (that honor goes to Leo)
-This kinda caused him to go through a sexuality crisis and for a while he thought he was aroace like Donnie until Leo helped him out with understanding the aro spectrum
-He has social anxiety. It’s a moderate case- little on the extreme side. (Let me project)
-He has separation anxiety (extreme case)
(-It’s kind of implied in S1:21A, but) I imagine Raph lost Splinter and his brothers in NY when he was little, and since then he’s had nightmares and fears of losing his family or waking up one day and they aren’t there. (Time to write some angst :D)
-Very introverted (unless he’s in a fight, then he pretty talkative because he’s more confident)
-Dyslexic (Donnie’s the one that helps him if he can’t understand a word)
-He tries really hard to finish the book he’s reading but either gets too bored, forgets about it, or reading it gets too hard (if it’s the third option he’ll try to read it again bc he doesn’t like quitting)

I do! Comments mean that someone took the time to read my fic and something stuck with them enough to tell me about it. It makes me feel appreciated, and I want my readers to feel appreciated in turn. :3
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Oof, probably Shadowed Heart, which is my first rare pair fic (Fashav/Ritakka). I promise to give them a happier ending in my series.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I'd say To Know Peace has the happiest ending so far.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I got a couple of comments on Bonding Moments about some choices I'd made that rubbed me the wrong way, but I haven't gotten hate publicly or privately. I think it helps that Horizon is still relatively small in the fanfic/fanart space and I don't share my ship-specific fics on the subreddit for the games.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I do and I have no shame, hehe. It's mostly M/F and very light on kinks. Other than my Kinktober drabbles, the raunchiest fic I've written is Early Exit.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
No crossovers. They're kinda tricky to get right.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
To my knowledge, no, but I haven't checked FF.net or Wattpad to confirm.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope. Spanish is my native language, but I have no plans to translate my fics from English to Spanish.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
@jadefyre and I have a smut fic in the works that we started earlier this year. Also, not co-written but @murmart made a beautiful art of Fashav/Ritakka for my fic Heavy in Your Arms. :3
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
Definitely Aloy/Kotallo. Not only did seeing their dynamic and conjuring up ship possibilities get me to write again after a long hiatus, but it's also allowed me to become part of a community of amazing creators both in the Kotaloy Elysium Discord server and beyond. n.n
15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I don't necessarily think I'll leave any of my WIPs unfinished, but some are a little more complicated than others in terms of getting them to meet my own standards (yeah, I'm my harshest critic).
With longfics, I've since learned to write until completion and then start posting, only because I don't enjoy the self-imposed pressure to update something that's already out there since life can be really uncertain at times.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue! It takes me such a long time, but I love nailing the voices of the characters correctly and having readers comment on that and their characterization. However, I do find speeches a bit cumbersome to write because every word has so much weight to them, even though I do enjoy the end result.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I struggle with describing environments/settings, because I never know if I'm being descriptive enough to paint a full picture for the reader.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I think if it's a few sentences here and there is fine, but anything else might make it inaccessible to part of the readership unless it's stated in the author's note that the fic will feature two or more different languages.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Horizon, though I wrote a (thankfully never published) fic for Final Fantasy VII when I was around 13 years-old; trust me, it wasn't good and I still cringe thinking about the plot. HOWEVER, I miss that feeling of writing without caring about the end result, of just having a deluge of words on paper with a somewhat coherent narrative thread.
20. Favorite fic you've ever written?
It's hard to pick only one because all of my fics are special in their own way, but I'll go with Hurricane Drunk because I had so much fun describing Kotallo being drunk and struggling with confessing his feelings for Aloy in a humorous way.

TOMORROW X TOGETHER Lands First No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 Chart
TOMORROW X TOGETHER lands its first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200albums chart, as The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION debuts atop the tally (dated Feb. 11). The five-song set earned 161,500 equivalent album units in the U.S. in the week ending Feb. 2, according to Luminate, largely driven by CD album sales.
The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION is the third top 10-charting effort for the South Korean vocal group, which reached the top 10 previously in 2022 with Minisode 2: Thursday’s Child (No. 4) and in 2021 with The Chaos Chapter: Freeze (No. 5).
The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION halts the chart-topping run for SZA’s SOS, which falls to No. 2 (100,000 equivalent album units; down 10%) after spending its first seven weeks at No. 1.
Also in the top 10 of the new Billboard 200, Sam Smith achieves their fourth top 10-charting effort as Gloria debuts at No. 7, while Lil Yachty notches his third top 10 set with the No. 9 arrival of Let’s Start Here.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units, compiled by Luminate. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album. Of The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION’s 161,500 equivalent album units earned, album sales comprise 152,000, SEA units comprise 9,000 (equaling 13.24 on-demand official streams of the set’s five songs) and TEA units comprise 500.
The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION scores the largest sales week for any album since Taylor Swift’s Midnights debuted at No. 1 with 1.14 million copies sold on the Nov. 5, 2022-dated chart. Of The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION’s 152,000 sold, 98% were CD sales (148,500), while 2% were digital album sales (3,500). The set was not available to purchase in any other configuration (such as vinyl or cassette).
The CD configuration of The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION was issued in collectible packages (14 total, including exclusive editions for Barnes & Noble, Target and the Weverse webstore), each with a standard set of internal paper items and branded randomized mystery elements (photo cards, photo books, post cards). CD sales were also enhanced by autographed editions sold via the act’s webstore.
The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION is TOMORROW X TOGETHER’s seventh charting album on the all-genre Billboard 200, though the act has yet to reach the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 songs chart. TOMORROW X TOGETHER is the second act to top the Billboard 200 in the last year without also having previously logged a hit on the Hot 100, following fellow K-pop group Stray Kids, which notched two No. 1 albums in 2022 (ODDINARY and MAXIDENT).
The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION is recorded mostly in the Korean language, with some English lyrics. It is the 17th mostly non-English language album to hit No. 1. In 2022, there were four non-English No. 1s from BTS’ mostly-Korean Proof, Bad Bunny’s all-Spanish Un Verano Sin Ti and Stray Kids’ mostly-Korean ODDINARYand MAXIDENT. Of the 17 mostly non-English No. 1 albums, 10 have been Korean-language projects (six from BTS, two from Stray Kids, one from SuperM and one from TOMORROW X TOGETHER).

A recent Suffolk University/USA Today poll investigated U.S. public opinion about human evolution. Asked "What comes closest to your belief about humans and evolution?" 29% of respondents preferred "Humans evolved into their present form without divine intervention," 24% preferred "Humans evolved into their present form, but God directed the process," and 37% preferred "Humans did not evolve. They were created in their present form by God," while 8% were undecided and 2% refused to answer.
More likely to prefer the creationist option were women (40% compared to 34% of men), respondents in the South and Midwest (41% and 39% compared to 33% and 31% of respondents in the West and Northeast), Republicans (53% compared to 33% of Independents and 23% of Democrats), Black people (55% compared to 36% of Hispanic people and 35% of white people), and those with at most high school education (46% compared to 36% of those with some college, 36% of college graduates, and 23% of those with advanced degrees).
Philip Bump, a columnist for the Washington Post (October 31, 2023), observed, "Perhaps the most striking comparison is education. Creationism is embraced by twice as many people with no more than a high school degree than those with a master's or other advanced degree — but they report going to church weekly at relatively equal rates," adding, "It's ... difficult from this poll to disentangle the causality between education, belief in the principle of evolution and partisan identity."
"This survey of 1,000 registered voters was conducted between October 17 and October 20, 2023, and is based on live telephone interviews of adults 18 years of age or older, residing in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Quota and demographic information — including region, race, and age — were determined from 2020 national census data," according to the poll report. "Surveys were administered in English and Spanish. The margin of sampling error for results based on the total sample is +/-3.1 percentage points."

General elections were held in July, but there still isn’t a President of the Spanish Government. PP leader Feijóo failed to gather votes enough to become President in the Congress, so now PSOE leader Pedro Sánchez is trying. He has already some support, but will only be able to become President just if Catalan party JPC (a Catalan party that was key in the failed referendum for independence of 2017) votes for him.
So JPC and PSOE are negotiating, and it seems like PSOE has accepted JPC demands: that Catalan politicians that were imprisoned and/or accused of the crime of treason are amnestied; and that the 15 billion euros debt Catalunya has with Spain is canceled. Things look good and is almost sure that tomorrow Nov 16 2023 Pedro Sánchez will be named Pesident of Spain again.
While these negotiations were happening, PP and VOX - remember, the ones that couldn't gather enough support to achieve presidency - have been calling their people aka fascists to protest these concessions in the streets which, at first sight, should be nothing wrong.
But reality is quite different:
basically, Spanish nationalist and fascist parties have now started a strategy of street protests to try to get with chaos and an apparent social discomfort what they couldn't achieve at the voting stations.
they are protesting because against aaaaall the polls the right wing won't rule Spain and it's a very hard pill to swallow. The negotiations with Catalunya are just an excuse. They don't care about Catalunya, they just want Spain governed by one of them.
the protesters intended to storm into the PSOE headquarters with iron bars, ropes, sticks, etc, and attacked the police with bottles.
they've been calling Pedro Sánchez homophobic slurs, threatening to kill him, chanting the name of Franco + Francoist mottos and songs, and overall doing fascist things.
PP and VOX allegedly asked them not to bring Francoist flags so media couldn't accuse them of fascists because the parties want them to look like people from every ideology who are against the Catalan amnesty. So they brought imperial flags, flags with the cid, the Habsburg flag, etc. They're not fooling anyone, we all know they're not people with different ideas: they're full on francoists and nazis.

It started out in 2019 as a small bunch of guys trying to figure out 19th century Spanish military drills on a driveway in U.P. Diliman.
Now we are the largest and most active reenactment group in the Philippines, capable of accurately portraying units of the Army of the First Philippine Republic (1898-1902) and the Guardia Civil Veterana of Manila (1872-1898), and reenacting battles from the Philippine Revolution against Spain and the Philippine-American War.
Very proud to see how far the Republica Filipina Reenactment Group has come. And we still have so much more planned ahead! Abangan!

Title: My car and my card - 2
Before I made changes between Nov 24th, 2013 & now 2023 [May 21st, 2023], this is my FIRST EVER tuning car that I registered & not gifted from someone, namely my former friend (the SPOT- tuning card). Which I'll get to that, in a bit. And my Impreza GRB car named it "POCO-"! Name after my favorite Spanish children show character "Pocoyo" (you know, the blue wearing kid one). 👶🔵

Back to my explanation: Although, my theory speculates my SPOT- tuning card came from the illegal clone method (using a masking tape to yank it out & create a new one), and the original tuning card disappeared (or something) or registered under a different name as far as I know. 🤔
