Neo: What's Stopping me From from hunting down Little Red?
RK!Jaune: *Sharpening Crocea Mors* There are Many reasons why that would be a bad Idea. I will illuminate three.
RK!Jaune: First, as you well know, Just because She is Kind, does not mean She is unwilling or incapable of defending Herself.
RK!Jaune: Second, If you Hurt Ruby or any of her Teammates, I will find you. Make no mistake. Gods willing, You will not be leaving the Ever After.
RK!Jaune: Lastly, Waging War against good people is Bad for the Soul. This may not seem important to you now, but it is the most important thing I've said.

Boone: Damn, looks like a lot of Legion up ahead. I'm going to call for backup.
Boone:
Boone: Six, where's the radio?
Conspicuously-NCR-Emergency-Radio-shaped Courier Six: Urmph! No idea! If you want to find that delicious radio of ours, go look elsewhere!

Sums up this quest pretty well.
Chalks knew exactly what he was in for when asking for some and he’s all for it.

Ok…the fallout show is pretty good. I’m almost mad about it lol, i thought I was too soured by everything that came after NV, but my heart still yearns for the wasteland sometimes.
So far theres a good job with really embracing the source material without being pandering, which is generally my biggest turn off of these types of shows based on existing properties with an obsessive fanbase.
I’m only one episode in but the film making and characters are very appealing to me so far.

what u said abt needing to revisit the source material is tbh probably why i don't conmect as well with da2 as i do with origins bc i genuinely find the inventory management/combat/dialogue systems so uninviting and unfun that i cant appreciate the writing. like some people forget no matter how good a games writing and characters are if its just not fun its gonna be hard to play. id love to be able to pick apart da2 but its soooo annoying to actually play
Okay this is funny bc da2 is by far my favorite combat system. But yes also there is a wider issue with video game analysis where people forget that part of the thing that makes it A Game is that you Play It. Like people act as if actual game mechanics are somehow irrelevant when discussing games and then focus solely on like, the script? and it's very bizarre. It's like forming and writing opinions about movies based solely on the audio.
(bringing it back to fallout sometimes I really want to shake people and explain to them that folks preferring 3/4 over new vegas is not solely an issue of "bad taste" and probably has a lot to do with the fact that 3/4 have very fun, relatively smooth combat systems while NV, quite famously, is extremely difficult for most people simply to boot up)

Rhyolite Valley Inspirations/References
I wrote about this earlier, but it was right before leaving for work so I didn’t have time to gather all my sources. I know walls of text aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, so this is the picture version :P
If I don’t mention a specific sim/lot it’s because I didn’t use any references to make it. Either way, both my ideas with and without references were filtered through self-imposed limitations to keep everything in line with the hood’s themes (wild west, grungy/ramshackle, self-sufficient, isolated, etc.)
Also my plan is never to do a perfectly identical recreation of the image I’m referencing, it’s just a foundation for developing my own concept.
Also also, if it’s not from a video game I found it on Google lol

Aside from shipping within his source, I had an entire AU set in Fallout with Howie. I played both NV and 4 as my s/i Charlie (who I ship with Howie) and so I naturally had to include their relationship.
In NV he was pretty minor. He met Charlie on the strip itself because due to Jim+Kim shenanigans, Howie couldn't leave because his passport was messed up. Charlie used his influence with the NCR to let him go home. Howie was unable to reward him so he was like, "Here's my business card lmk if you ever need anything from my company." and returns home.
After the events on the game, Charlie finds the business card again after a few years. He's like "hmm Boston? Might be a good place to escape my forced post-war war hero lifestyle." and slips away one day into the wasteland once more. After like 2 years of travelling he finally makes it.
He doesn't expect to meet Howie again, it's not really why he went, but he does. Howie returns the long owed favour by sharing his resources with the minutemen (which are quite substantial cus in this AU Howie has a huge trading business). Meanwhile the two of them are good friends.
But Kim+Jim shenanigans occur once more, and they frame Howie as a synth. This gets him chased out of Diamond City but fortunately Charlie now runs like half to commonwealth with "we accept everyone! Synths Ghouls Mutants whatever!" settlements. Howie takes refuge there and then yeah eventually they fall in love-love and become boyfriends and live happily ever after, once the war there is over. The end.

Just found your blog, I love your art and I love Jay!! Tell me more about him? He and Nick seem so sweet 🥺🥺🥺
jfghsdjfgs thank you so much?!! Hmmmmm I have so much to say I don't even know where to start ok so to keep it short and simple (this won't be short or simple LOL) so Jay is actually a plant mutant vault experiment, and also the son of an artifact holder (Like Lorenzo, my NV oc Fyre is Jay's dad, and was Lorenzo's partner and an archeologist. When they found the Artifact Lorenzo wears, in my fic they actually found multiple pieces, and his dad has a choker that can't be removed now, but Jay was born long after he had the artifact) so he essentially has inherited alien-artifact powers, but not to a crazy extent. It's like all the basic alien-artifact serum powers in game, stronger, immune to most sickness, resilient, extra long life, that stuff. But in my fic each artifact had it's own general set of "powers" along with the "buffs". For example, Lorenzo has telekinesis in game, Jay's dad's choker had telepathy/empathy. Jay can only hear the thoughts of/communicate with animals though, because his inherited powers aren't as strong. He does have empathy with humans though, just not telepathy. Jay doesn't know of his dad or the actual reason for his weirdness until way late in his life, because his mom gave him up for adoption and he never met his birth parents (he doesn't care to either he loves his adoptive lesbian mothers too much to care) Prewar, Jay was a nurse practitioner (he wanted to be a forest ranger but one of his mom's was too scared of his really bad driving and didn't want him to get lost/drive off a road or something,) before the war, moved from southern Oregon to Massachusetts for schooling. He gets married, and later is drafted and about 4ish years before the start of the game he gets shot in the head (rip), lives, but is in a coma for 3 months. He stays at a hospital in Vegas for 2 months.. while he's there, Vault Tec scientist Cedric hears of a dude at the hospital whole lived being shot in the head and is set to be frozen in Vault 111 when the bombs drop. Cedric was one of the scientists going into Vault 22, and he had a personal project where he was trying to modify the DNA of humans with sunflower dna to see if they could process radiation as either a source of nourishment or simply be unaffected by it, as sunflowers do. Sunflowers irl are used to clean up nuclear fallout, which was the inspiration for this as well as the Solar Powered perk! So while Jay was in a coma, the guy spliced his exceedingly handsome dna with Sunflower dna, turning him into the world's first (and best) human flower. Then, Jay was taken back to Mass. and woke up about a month later. He doesn't know about that until long after the war Cedric is an important character later in my fic he's still alive and is a ghoul slowly going feral Being shot in the head does make Jay go mostly blind and deaf though, he can't move or see from his right eye at all and his hearing is almost completely gone on the same side, but it's better on the left. he usually closes his right eye to focus on stuff so it looks like he's winking all the time lol Then the war happens, Jay is frozen, in the vault, and then eventually is rescued from the ice prison by Codsworth, Preston and Struges. The experiment made him able to photosynthesize, he's immune to radiation, gets very tired at night/in the dark, smells like sunflowers and is sadly very susceptible to the cold I was going to write more about Nick and how amazing he is and how much they love each other but this is so long.
also I know this all probably sounds super insane. But I built everything off in game lore and perks so it seems crazy but I can explain in some way I feel like Charlie at the pepe silvia board though

Oh nooo there's comedy? Nope the OG Fallouts had zero comedy and neither did NV no sir

Artists and Animation
yes, again. I missed this
Eadweard Muybridge
Tumblr media
Muybridge [I swear I'm not adding letters to his name] was an English photographer who created rudimentary animation. He is credited with pioneering animation through his photography.
Stephen E. Wilhite
Tumblr media
Wilhite was an American computer scientist who lead the engineering team that produced the GIF [actually it's pronounced greg] in the late 80's. This format would serve as the default for all web images due to its small size and quality of supporting animation
WANEELLA
WANEELLA pixel art (tumblr.com)
Tumblr media
WANEELLA is a pixel artist and animator on Tumblr. They create highly detailed landscapes [in portrait, ironically] with a low frame-rate animation. You can't see the animation because you can't copy/past GIFs, at least not with ctrl-c/ctrl-v. Their pieces are often oriental in theming and nearly stationary.
Paul Robertson
Tumblr media
Paul Robertson is a pixel artist, also on Tumblr, whose works I felt I shouldn't be going through in a class. He creates cartoonish characters of various sizes and themes with no rhyme or reason. I really don't have much to say, I just think they're neat.
Ivan Dixon
youtube
i love this
Ivan Dixon is a pixel artist on Tumblr [look, I'm doing my best alright. They're all on Tumblr. Well, not the first two. They're dead] alongside artist and illustrator. He has worked for a number of studios in the past [even on Fallout 4, the one better than 3 but not NV. I will die on this hill.], creating animations and ideas for shows and games. He also runs Cursed Shirts — Ivan Dixon which is the source for the images below
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
he just like me fr
Pedro Medieros
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pedro is a pixel artist and animator WHO IS NOT ON TUMBLR [FINALLY]. He leads the art direction team for EXOK games [Extremely OK games - the team behind Celeste]. He also runs Saint11 and has a number of Very Cool educational videos on the aforementioned site with advice on creating [predominantly pixel] art.
