Inverted fate - It's my favorite AU. I'm trying hard to control my feelings while I writing this so I'm just going to say: READ IT
Horrortale - The angst and the world settings are so GOOOD
Echotale - Actually, it was the first Frans AU that I read. The story is so cute and I love mah G! Sans
UT Mob - Every now and then I squeeze in my post how much I love this AU. Everything is perfect. EVERYTHING!
Soulfell - One of my favorite AUs that are Underfell like 👉👈 it's a really fun read

Ohh man Okay Alright here goes
I’ll give you a (hopefully spoiler-free) summary of the main AUs and some of the better fancomics you can check out if you ever play the game (most of these are full of spoilers so it’s better to wait). I know I was SO lost when I first entered the fandom and had to do a bunch of research to get what anyone was talking about, so this should help you out a little to understand that mess 😅 Keep in mind that there are many, many more AUs but these are some of the most popular ones and ones that are needed to understand the Undertale Multiverse.
Underfell - an AU where, instead of being mostly friendly and only challenging you to battles for fun, monsters have adopted a “Kill or Be Killed” mentality after a tragic event befalls the royal family. The monster who’s usually the main antagonist of the game is instead so intimidated by this world that they hide 99% of the time. This, of course, affects what happens when the Human falls into the underground. I’ve seen some creators take a really magnificent deep-dive into this world, exploring what the society, customs, culture and way of life must be like. Some Fellverses have drug rings and monster-trafficking and EXP-hunters. Some monsters may have been driven insane by their reality and become no more than savage killers while others keep their kinder natures but conceal them to survive. As for comics, I rec Underfell by Kaitogirl on DA, and Soulfell by rainbowchibbit on tumblr.
Underswap - the personalities/roles of all of the characters are swapped with one another (in pairs, usually the swap is between 2 characters that interact a lot with each other). It’s mostly a cutesy and funny AU, but I’ve found some creators with serious takes where they all started the same as in the original universe but a series of events has driven them to make different choices and take on different responsibilities, until they become as they appear in Underswap. Here we run into our first AU of an AU: Swapfell, where characters with Swap personalities exist in a Fell-verse. min-play on tumblr has a bunch of cute short comics for Underswap
Inktale - it’s the story of an iteration of Sans who lived in an AU abandoned by its creator, and was the only monster there developed enough to have a soul of his own. Gone mad from the loneliness and despair, he destroyed his own soul in order to use its power to leave his stagnant AU. He ends up in a place where he’s able to access other AUs and devotes himself to their “protection” and to helping creators stay motivated. Without a soul, he has no emotions of his own and instead uses magical paints he collects as substitute, one emotion for each color. He’s the ultimate expression of Chaotic Neutral, since loses his emotions when he runs out of paint and will try to keep AUs “interesting” at any cost, even if it only results in the unhappiness of its inhabitants. Some fans/creators argue that he does this for the protection of the Multiverse as a whole, because if creators cease to create the entire thing might cease to exist.
Errortale - the tale of a Sans who accidentally became trapped in the Antivoid; an empty, endless white space. He was driven insane by the sensory deprivation and eventually glitched, began to hear voices and became convinced that all AUs aside from the original must be destroyed, as they are “abominations”. He uses his newfound powers as a glitch to leave the Antivoid, dig into the code of the world and destroy several AUs. The creator of this AU, loverofpiggies on tumblr, not only has a series of comics about Error but also has a complete AU called Aftertale that is very interesting and delightfully angsty (the latter is full to the brim of spoilers though). Some fans also have interpretations where Error is forced to destroy AUs in order to keep the Multiverse from selfdestructing from massive overpopulation. Ink is his nemesis and rival.
Dreamtale - like Inktale and Errortale, this AU has little to do with the original universe. It takes place in an AU where 2 skeleton siblings, Dream and Nightmare (both being iterations of Sans), are tasked with guarding the sacred Tree of Feelings, which collects the positive and negative emotions from the entire Multiverse in the form of yellow and purple fruits, respectively. Dream was the guardian of positive emotions and the “light” half of the tree, while his brother was the guardian of negative emotions and the “dark” half. Nightmare was feared and abused by the inhabitants of his AU because most people wrongly believed he caused the emotions he watched over, eventually resulting in him consuming some of the purple fruits (in some takes he does this out of hatred to destroy them all, in others he does this for self-defense). Corrupted by the sudden influx of dark emotions, Nightmare takes on a new, ghastly form and destroys his entire AU, after which he starts going from AU to AU trying to foster negativity in order to attain more power. His brother Dream, the only survivor, follows him in an attempt to stop him and save as many people as he can. Very often, Nightmare takes in other corrupted/insane/murderous/“dark” Sanses from miserable AUs, but the reason why varies from creator to creator. I personally most enjoy the version where he regains part of his sanity after a while, so he takes them in because he sympathizes with their plights, and him and the Dark Sanses become a weird but loving Found Family with everyone being fiercely protective of each other. In other versions, he takes them in to manipulate them to do his bidding and actively feeds their insanity and despair to do so. He also sometimes allies with Error
Xtale and Underverse by Jakei95 on tumblr (they have an exclusive blog for it called xtaleunderverse) is a wonderful series of comics and animations that tell the story of the titular Xtale, an original AU, and interconnects many AUs in the Multiverse with it, including all of the AUs I’ve mentioned so far.

Do you know where I can find a page about your work's characterization of Asriel? He was meaner than canon Asriel, right?
Howdy! Boy I’m glad people ask about my Azzy boy. I love him too much.
There’s no “page” or external site about how MY Asriel is, but everything is in the comic! Let me get a compilation for you… (comic spoilers ahead)
The first “mention” ever of Azzy was in the Ruins’ arc, on page 103, with the discovering of an old family photo… This photo shows a happy Azzy, and probably the year he was born according to my canon. However, this alone doesn’t say much about his personality. It does say he was super cute tho.
The next image of Asriel I’ve shown is on a flashback, on Waterfall, page 96. From this batch of pages.
(We also see Chara here, greetings!)
Back to Azzy. He calls for his dad several times, presumably wanting his attention, and sounds eager to murder this human he just found.

Little can we see here, or can we? For anyone who’s played Undertale, (all of you, right? … Right?), you might already know what the “plan” is about. Well, whatever it is, Azzy cares enough about Chara to agree to it, and to feel remorseful because it “sucks”. Sucks? Oh my, he swears!

There’s been no more information thus far. So, I’ll give you the facts about Azzy we can draw from these images:
- He’s a daddy’s boy. (it’s not that obvious, but I’ll give you the fact for free!)
- He’s ok with murdering humans.
- Ended up caring about Chara, and agreeing with “the plan”.
- Can feel remorse (I’ve read there’s some people that think UF monsters can’t feel good feelings. Well, debunked)
- He swears! (When Toriel’s not listening)
- He’s a crybaby.
Six juicy facts! Will there be more? Surely!
Will I spill the beans if you throw theories at my face? Probably!
Is this enough to know my Azzy’s entire personality? Afraid not.

Greetings! Today I am gonna show you some info about a character that I created when I was in an imagination attack.
Her name is Drigreia and she was created inside a fallen multiverse of Undertale. So, come and hear a little bit of her backstory.
Important fact: I imagine the multiverses of Undertale with numbers, for example: Canon (Original Multiverse) is ���1, Fanon (Multiverse of Fandom) is №2, Swapverse (Reboot/Eraser) №3, DreamSwap №5, etc etc etc... (yes if you want, at some point I can tell you the numbers of the other multiverses)
In addition, the Original Multiverse (where the real characters are found, the real Ink, Error, Fresh, Core!Frisk, etc etc etc ...) is protected by "Guardian Princesses", which prevent other multiverses (Shattered, Recode, Fanon ...) approach the original. That said, let's start.
Drigreia and Crawden are two traveling beings among multiverses. They are not simply limited to the universes of a multiverse (such as Core!Frisk), they are among all the multiverses of Undertale (DreamSwap, Shattered, The Original Multiverse, etc ...). Except Drigreia. She doesn't limit herself at just "Undertale's Multiverses", she travels around all the fandoms.
But before we go to that, check out who was Drigreia first.
∆∆∆∆∆∆
UnderTale!Frisk and UnderSwap!Chara were very great friends, and despite being treated like children without gender, both were considered women.
When they met Sunset (an alternate Dream from their multiverse), they were always willing to be with him and give him their support first and foremost. They knew that Sunset was suffering because he was "used" simply to make everyone "happy", and they knew that due to the balance of good and bad, he had to put aside his suffering to fulfill his role. That made them very sad because he could never be really happy.
At the time he was attacked, they were the only ones who tried to help him as soon as they saw him with those wounds, but despite their efforts, Sunset was already physically and emotionally shattered to the point of giving them his cape and crown, and later to see the eyes of both human, dying due to the horrible wounds that couldn't be healed. After his death, and more power on the negative side, many times Undertale!Chara and Underswap!Frisk tried to convince them to make a genocidal route, but they never could. "Surrendered", they simply left the old friends of Sunset alone.
The humans US!Chara and UT!Frisk were very depressed, but one day it occurred to them to exchange universes. UT!Frisk and US!Chara were in the area of the Ruins of the opposing universes, when they both noticed that UT!Chara and US!Frisk were beginning a genocidal route; Desperate, both made a RESET, but completely forgot that none was in their universe. This caused Underswap and Undertale to erase the codes of both humans because they did not belong where they were, and as a chain reaction, the lack of Frisk in Undertale caused its destruction, leading to the destruction of the entire Multiverse.
A princess who had recreated the codes of Sunset (now called Crawden) and making him a traveler among multiverses, found the remnants of the codes and part of the soul of US!Chara and UT!Frisk, seeing that one was missing what the another had and vice versa, joined them both, with soul and everything, forming a young adult woman who still wore the old cloak of Sunset and a new form of his crown. She called this woman Drigreia.
|| Actual day ||
Crawden and Drigreia were equal beings, and they met on one of their visits to Shattered Dreamtale. Although they forgot the great friendship they had in the past, both returned to recreate that friendship and become siblings.
Some time later, Drigreia discovered the "fourth wall", realizing that they are part of a "fandom". She told Crawden about her discovery, excited to discover beyond the fandom of Undertale, the one mentioned told her that he would accompany her to the exit, but he was afraid to go beyond the fandom. Both formed an agreement that she would travel and watch the fandoms, while he stayed and watched the multiverses of Undertale.
Drigreia left the Undertale fandom, and observing how all the fandoms were, decided to catalog them in different categories and sections, in order to have easier access to all of them.
Although both are separated, from time to time Drigreia stays around Undertale to repair or redirect the temporary lines affected by a virus or with a defective history.

Canon data
1- Drigreia and Crawden do not consider themselves omnipresent people, they know what will happen because they saw it in the codes. Unlike Core!Frisk, Drigreia doesn't know how to anticipate future events and can not be in several places; Crawden, on the other hand, can be in several places but he doesn't know how to anticipate future events if he has not experienced them first. Both, on the other hand, can interfere in the past after knowing what will happen and can prevent that fact.
2 - Drigreia and Crawden only intervene if there is a stranger to the timeline affecting the multiverse (or fandom in the case of Drigreia) and said entity could harm more than one universe (or fandom).
3- Regarding the previous point, they only intervene if the strange entity damages the original story or the original alternate timeline/universes created by some other person. Example: The multiverse that I created called ReCode. If an entity affects the alternate Swap!ReCode timeline, Crawden/Drigreia will not do anything, but if that entity goes to the original ReCode timeline, they will intervene.
4- Crawden rescued a SoulFell!Papyrus from the multiverse №30 that had been self-destructed, when he saved him, let him roam the multiverses next to them, creating a new skeleton called Klowell.
5- Drigreia has a bad habit of experimenting. When she found the fandom of Panic Room and its AUs, she came up with the fantastic idea of swapping Panic Room Twist Fate with Panic Room Original, meaning that the characters were changed.
6- If Crawden or Drigreia appeared physically in some Multiverse, the alternate versions of Core!Frisk (of the multiverse where they are) will have their powers to open portals and omnipresent vision blocked until they leave.
7- Drigreia has a favorite fandom of each category and section. Example: Cat: Movie, Sec: Action, Fandom: X. Cat: Games, Sec: Adventure, Fandom: Y., among others.
8 - Although it seems incredible, Drigreia's favorite fandom among the types of game that is Undertale, Undertale is not her favorite (And while being in that fandom she ended up dead).
9- The fandoms have a planet shape and have a huge poster made of codes with the name of the fandom.
10- The "toxic part of the fandoms" has a section called "Toxicity" and they are humanoid mutant forms.
11- When entering a fandom, the original universe of the fandom (Example: Fandom: Undertale, Universe: Undertale, Secondary Universe: Original Multiverse, Tertiary: DreamSwap, Shattered, NaJ, etc etc) is the largest you can see and you can see the events as if it were a TV screen without needing to be inside the story.
12- If she was given to choose which section of games is her favorite, she would choose "Hidden Objects" or "Puzzles", because she says that they are types of games that very few people admire and that almost always have a null fandom, besides being the almost unique fandoms without toxicity.
13- There is another being that comes out of its fandom, it is a mini version of a fandom of the Hidden Objects, this one sometimes accompanies Drigreia in his trips between fandoms. Said being returns to his respective fandom when he feels that someone is going to play said game.
14- When Crawden and Drigreia meet, the latter tells him what new fandom emerged, what fandom is being abandoned and tells him the stories of each fandom, and if they have any AU, it also says so.

So apparently Soulfell fanfiction is now a thing? After seeing this post and then this post I wanted to do something for @rainbowchibbit as well. Because honestly Sans and Toriel knitting together on either side of the ruins door is the most beautiful mental image. It’s a little rough and a little short, but I hope you like it. Story under the cut.
“You can knit?”
“geez, don’t sound so surprised lady. i can do lotsa stuff you don’t know about.”
“Oh, no, I meant no offense. I am just surprised to hear anyone in this world would still care for such a thing. It is… nice.”
“well maybe we could get together one day an’ do some together. compare notes or sumthin’.”
“That sounds lovely.”
“’course it’d be better if you could open the door so we could show each other what we come up with.”
“...Perhaps some day.”
Sans remembered the conversation fondly as he set about getting ready for the ‘date’ they had planned. The supplies had gone unused for so long; no knitting had been necessary since Papyrus had outgrown his love of clothing with cute animals on them. That had been a sad day for Sans, though one he had known would be inevitable. Still, he was looking forward to getting back into practice now that he had the excuse to.
Teleportation was certainly a useful tool, this much Sans knew, but he was never more thankful for it than he was now. Being caught in public with an armful of knitting supplies was a sure-fire way of getting oneself dusted, or at the very least in Sans’ case it would get monsters talking. Something he knew Papyrus wouldn’t appreciate, and something he certainly didn’t wish to have to explain.
Only seconds after gathering up his supplies Sans stood before the door to the ruins, his smile more genuine than it had been for a while. He was excited to be able to share another hobby with his friend. However, there was one formality that had to be taken care of first.
“knock, knock,” Sans said, knocking the giant door in time with his words.
“Who is there?” came the rather excited reply.
“knit.”
“Knit who?”
“knit two, purl two.”
Sans heard a snort from the other side of the door, followed by a few chuckles.
“Oh Sans, that was awful.”
“what can I say, lady?” he replied with a shrug of his shoulders, “coming up with knitting puns threw my head through a loop. now whaddaya say we get down to it? no strings attached.”
A few more chuckles could be heard as Sans got himself comfortable, leaning against the door as he set the supplies down in his lap.
“So what do you plan to knit?” Toriel asked.
“a scarf. something simple since i haven’t done this in a while. you?”
“A sweater.”
“cold in the ruins, huh?”
“Not so much when there is company to chill out with.”
Many more laughs were shared between the two as they began their small projects, puns being thrown around for a while before silence fell as they concentrated on their patterns. The silence was perfectly comfortable, though Toriel could hear the occasional frustrated sigh from the other side of the door. She could only surmise that Sans really was out of practice.
“you remember that question..?” Sans asked, finally breaking the silence.
“I remember.”
“y’know, i almost said ‘yes’.”
“I know, and I also know your reasons for not doing so. I can’t say that I was not disappointed, but I do respect your decision, and I don’t think any less of you. In fact, I actually think far more fondly of you.”
“geez, ‘fondly’ you say? if i didn’t know any better i’d say you had the hots for me.”
Toriel huffed. “Sans, this door has remained closed for far longer than you have been alive. But do not think for a second I would hesitate to open it for the express purpose of burning you.”
“wow, no need to get so hot under the collar,” Sans said, clearly enjoying getting a rise out of his friend.
Toriel gave in, a few laughs betraying her feigned annoyance. “Oh hush, you. We were beginning to have a serious conversation for a moment there.”
“serious is boring, serious is for out there. i like to keep things light here,” he said, struggling with the last stitch on his scarf. “besides, i think i’m finally done with this thing now, which means i’ve run out of material for the conversation.”
“Oh, you have only just finished? This sweater was complete fifteen minutes ago. I have simply been humoring you this whole time.”
“well excuse me for being out of practice.”
“You are excused,” Toriel giggled.
“yeah, yeah. well, i should get going. my bro will probably be looking for me by now. think i might get to show you this thing one day?” he asked, holding the scarf out in front of him to behold his handiwork.
“Sans, you know the decision to isolate these ruins from the rest of the Underground was not an easy one. I do not think a scarf is enough to change my mind.”
There was a slightly pained note to Toriel’s answer and for a moment Sans regretted the question. Still, he knew exactly how to cheer her up.
“well, i guess i’ll have to keep coming here and knitting new things until you decide to come and look, then. how does that sound?”
“I would like that,” Toriel said, her tone much more cheerful.
Happy he had left the conversation on a lighter note, Sans bade his farewell before teleporting back to the house. Packing up the supplies and leaving the now neatly-folded scarf in his closet, Sans pondered what other articles of clothing might soon be joining it. Perhaps something he could one day gift to Toriel, should the scarf not suffice. Taking one last look at the scarf, pleased with the detail he’d managed to put into the delta rune stitched into the end of it, he closed the closet and readied himself for sentry duty.
Sans only hoped the ruins door would open before he ran out of room in the closet.

Royalblue IS Underswap
I'm pretty upset right now, and sad. Forgive me for this rant, I promise I won’t complain about anything else for a couple weeks after this.
Ok, most of you may know by this point about my work in the @royalbluetale blog, a story that narrates the events of a particular timeline IN THE UNDERSWAP UNIVERSE. Thing is, it seems some people have missinterpreted what we’re drawing and decided that Royalblue is an AU on its own, and that it shouldn’t be listed alongside or as part of Underswap. But it's not, IT IS UNDERSWAP, just a particular interpretation of it. This is not at all uncommon in the fandom and there are a lot of fans who put their own twist to AUs. Take “Soulfell” from @rainbowchibbit for example: She has created her own interpretation of the Underfell world, complete with some designs changes and a whole lot of lore on its own, but NOBODY would say Soulfell is not Underfell. It is Underfell, just a very particular and detailed interpretation of it.
I don't know people, it just hurts. I’ve made so many Underswap works because I love the AU, it just sucks to feel I'm told my interpretation isn't valid enough to be with all the other Underswap related art.

Last Dream for ask meme! (Wow, that rhymes.)
Dream: What’s your favorite Undertale AU?
“I’m not really that into AUs, honestly,” I type out as I try to narrow it down to like 10, and still fail.
Truthfully, I have this weird mixed opinion on AUs. I like the creativity, and they can be AMAZING, but on the other hand I’ve got some very picky tastes. My favorite types of AUs tend to be the ones with a small change to canon that grows and escalates, but in which the characters are fundamentally the same people, just under different pressures and circumstances. I also REALLY prefer them all being trapped underground as opposed to other location setups but I don’t get as wrapped up in that.
Anyway, I don’t really HAVE a favorite. I hoped to dig deep and find a list of AUs to sort through and make sure I don’t forget any, but honestly the longer I wait, the longer I put it off, the less likely this question is to get answered, and thats something I want to avoid!
So I’ll likely get back to this soon with some more, but here’s some AUs I enjoy and wanna see have more attention/exposure/discussion:
A SMALL SAMPLING:
Deitale :
Something went wrong, the world was corrupted. Papyrus saved it and became a God, but in the process wiped himself from the timeline and everyone’s memories
(including Sans’s, excluding Frisk+Flowey’s). Really cool worldbuilding and a very sad story. I’d love to see more works in this AU. I think it’s a perfect playground for something canon with a different flavor

Bet AU :
Eternity is boring, so Sans and Papyrus try to spice things up. Mainly because therapy is not an option.
Both brothers remember resets. Hilarity with a touch of melancholia ensue.

Undertale Broken Home: I don’t know if this is the actual name and I have no idea what’s happening. 5 stars.

how many pages/parts are planned for soulfell?
OH MAN good question! So as far as pages—no idea. I could probably have estimated before roughly but right now I cannot off the top of my head. Overall I have the current “act 2” to finish, then act 3, and then a shortish act4
When I first started burning out I started cutting out unnecessary plot points from my rough outline to get it down to a manageable size so I wasn’t working on this comic for a decade OTL so I definitely think it’s manageable now that I’m not trying to one for one what happened in the game (and at the point where I left off, everything starts to veer off from the game anyway)
I also have like some animatics planned?? And I think using those to tell some of the more dramatic parts coming up will go a lot better and be faster than if I tried to comic layout the whole thing. Because when it comes down to it…… my brain usually comes up with everything in like animation/movie shots and then I have to translate it to comic form and it’s not always easy to do because my brain is like QUICK CUTS QUICK STORY BEATS AND VISUALS and I’m like THE COMIC IS STATIC, BRAIN!!!!!
Anyway—as always I am happy to talk about soulfell and soulfell plans especially now that everything is calming down in my life. And honestly I could use the refresher too!! 😊 and also I’m planning on continuing anyway but I’m curious how many people are still here for it LMAO

I'm thrilled to see you have moved and things are calming down a bit for you. I hope The Many Muses should strike you again.
I've followed SoulFell for a long time, found it via the voice overs during the undertale golden era on YouTube. It brings me a lot of happiness to see it continue. You make something beautiful from my first venture into fandom.

Or beat me over the head with inspiration LMAO I’m still waiting for the final sale of the condo so that’s still stressing me a little bit even though closing should be done by Thursday but I’m still like @_@ please mister buyer sir take this condo out of my hands I’m dyin scoob jabdkdnfkfj
BUT YEA hopefully soon I will start posting Soulfell stuff again! I think I said this in another post at one point but I need to sit down with my outline and really trim it down because I want to bring the story to its proper conclusion but I also don’t want to be doing it for another like 5 years or smth JBDKVAB I want to FINISH A PROJECT and I also want to then move on to a new project of some kind! No idea what but probably a bunch of way smaller things than soulfell hahaha 💖💖

I absolutely love your Soulfell comic, it's probably up there in my favorite interpretations of Underfell. I don't remember when exactly in the story I found you, but I know it was for a good long while since I followed you, and I've always enjoyed seeing the newest part of the story cause I was(and am) so invested in it!
