“Americans, like me, are struggling because of Biden’s economic policies.”
Yeah, that kitchen screams “I’m struggling”.

I don't understand why Israel is held to standards that no other country on earth is held to. Joe would never demand Ukraine provide humanitarian aid to Russia. Why does Israel have to provide it to Hamas?
Oh wait, I do know why

Thoughts of the state of the union address?
I thought President Biden was great and I hope we get that version of Biden on the campaign trail.
But I think that State of the Union was a perfect illustration of how Donald Trump has so blatantly shattered any sense of decorum in American politics. When Rep. Joe Wilson interrupted President Obama during Obama's health care speech to a Joint Session of Congress in 2009, it was absolutely shocking. Even Wilson's fellow Republicans criticized him for it at the time. But now it's just expected that the President is going to be heckled -- not by protesters in the gallery, but by elected members of Congress. And it's become acceptable. I mean, Marjorie Taylor Greene showed up to the SOTU dressed like Q-Anon Willy Wonka, and made the entire thing into a spectacle. It's gross. And there's a direct connection between that type of behavior and Trump's rise in politics.
If this was 2006, Joe Biden -- a traditionalist who revered the institution of the Senate -- would not have gleefully set traps throughout a speech just so he could smack down Republican hecklers. But that's not the country we live in anymore, so he has to do that. We had Biden basically tricking the MAGA Republicans into openly displaying their extremism on numerous occasions, and cutting promos like he's The Rock taunting Cody Rhodes about WrestleMania. Nobody is even pretending to be interested in bipartisanship, and I'm sorry but nothing gets done in this country without some bipartisan collaboration, so it's really unfortunate that we've fallen this far this quickly. If there was a graph demonstrating the nation's descent into total shitshow, the line would dramatically nosedive beginning in 2015 and there's no question about the reason why.

Katie Britt, the junior Republican senator from Alabama, delivered the GOP’s rebuttal to President Joe Biden’s address on Thursday. Her impassioned, breathless speech — delivered at times in an ASMR-esque whisper from what appeared to be her kitchen — ended up feeling more like a rejected audition tape for a supporting role on “Grey’s Anatomy” than the hard-hitting political sparring favored by Biden’s Republican critics.
Into the late hours of the night, Rolling Stone was inundated, sometimes completely unprompted, with messages from longtime GOP operatives, right-leaning pollsters, conservative Capitol Hill staff, MAGA lawyers, and even some senior members of Trump’s own 2024 campaign absolutely torching Britt’s absurdly over-dramatic rebuttal.
“What the hell am I watching right now?” a Trump adviser asked, mid-Britt remarks.
“Creepy,” one of the Republican pollsters noted.
A lawyer working in the Trump orbit says the performance reminded them of public-access television, and a senior House congressional aide remarks that it was “cringe”-inducing to watch and likely destined to be turned into a “lame [Saturday Night Live] skit” this weekend.
“I’ll give Biden this — he at least gave a better speech than Katie Britt,” one national Republican consultant said bluntly.

Republicans became punching bags for Democrats by volunteering to be palace eunuchs for MAGA.
When you try to ban abortion, ban books, enrich billionaires, pal around with dictators, persecute LGBTQ folks, spew racism, endanger national defense, and torpedo immigration reform, you deserve to be treated like a punching bag.
Republicans have evolved into a party of weak control freaks with big mouths.

(There's got to be) a morning after...
So Joltin' Joe was on display last night and he was in fine form. I wish he didn't have a stammer, but like me wanting more hair, it's just the hand nature deals us. He was forceful and on-point. I especially loved how he spanked the SCOTUS with half the Justices sitting in the front row.
I wish he had been more forceful on Ukraine. He might have said something about how the fate of a nation and a region depended on just one obstructionist man, then paused and made a half-turn to his left, never completely fingering Mike Johnson, but leaving no doubt. (I know Trump is the chief evil in the scenario but MAGA Mike is in a position to do the right thing).
His take on the war in the Middle East to my ears skewed a little too much towards a defense of Israel. Both sides are guilty of atrocities, but as the Goliath in the fight Israel bears a much greater responsibility to preserve innocent lives.
The lines are drawn. The match-up everyone says they didn't want is coming. (Saying they didn't want it and doing something to prevent it are two different things. I'm looking at you, GQP insiders). I still maintain that when voters get in the booth with two choices they will realize they couldn't stomach four more years of chaos, perfidy, and deceit and vote for Biden. My best friend calls me an 'optimist' with a trace of pity in his voice.
But as President Biden says -- don't compare me to the Almighty, compare me to the alternative.
The choice is clear.

Zionist Organization of America National President Morton A. Klein released the following statement:
After briefly mentioning: Hamas’ sexual violence and massacre of 1,200 innocent people on October 7th; the need to bring the hostages home; the fact that “Hamas could end this conflict today by releasing the hostages, laying down arms, and surrendering those responsible for October 7”; and stating that Israel has the right to go after Hamas, Biden outrageously spent almost three times as long falsely castigating and making dangerous demands on Israel during Biden’s March 7, 2024 State of the Union (SOTU) address. Biden’s policies are clearly intended to harm Israel and inadvertently support Hamas and radical Arabs. Among other things:
(1) Biden hypocritically claimed to be a great friend of Israel while demanding a Palestinian state “solution” that imperils Israel’s very existence.
Biden rewards Arab terrorism by wrongly calling for the creation of a Palestinian terror state on Israel’s longest border adjacent to 70% of Israel’s population on Israel’s lawful land, as the “only solution” and “only path.” A Palestinian state would endanger Israel’s very existence, cause more October 7ths and more rockets to fall on innocent Israelis, and reward and encourage more terrorism. On October 7, Palestinian Authority terrorists filmed themselves bragging about participating in the massacre of Jews, including killing Jews and stepping on their heads. 85% of Palestinians support Hamas’ atrocities on October 7th. The Israeli people and Israeli leadership thus oppose a Palestinian state, across the board.
Moreover, the Palestinian leadership firmly maintains that Hamas would be part of a Palestinian state. Biden’s demand for such a terror state thus contradicts his brief lip service that Israel has the right to go after Hamas. (See also “ZOA Strongly Opposes Dangerous Biden Plan for Palestinian Authority (Pay-to-Slay) Terror Regime to Rule Gaza & Create a State,” Jan. 10, 2024, for more details as to why a Palestinian state is untenable.)
(2) Biden overstated number of Gazans displaced and “under bombardment,” and never mentioned that 200,000 Israelis are still displaced, living in hotels and people’s homes and tents due to Hamas, Hezbollah and other Iranian proxies’ destruction of their homes and communities and continuing bombardment; or that all of Israel is under the threat of rocket and other attacks. And that southern and northern Israel is now uninhabitable. Tiny Israel is now even tinier.
Biden also decried “Homes destroyed, neighborhoods in rubble, cities in ruin” in Gaza. But Biden said nothing about the numerous “Homes destroyed, neighborhoods in rubble, cities in ruin” throughout northern and southern Israel. Moreover, the Israeli homes burnt and destroyed were the homes of innocent Israelis sleeping in their beds. The homes destroyed in Gaza were homes that harbored Hamas rocket launchers, terror tunnel entrances and terrorists shooting at Israelis. Israel is not carpet-bombing Gaza. Shame on Biden for attempting to give such a false impression.
(3) Biden wrongly demanded that Israel must make assisting and protecting Gazans Israel’s first priority. In other words, according to Biden, Israel’s objectives of rescuing the hostages, preventing attacks on Israeli civilians, and eliminating Hamas’ terror army must take a back seat to assisting Gazans who overwhelmingly support Hamas massacring Jews who danced in the streets, rejoicing the murders, rapes and torturing of Jews.
Biden’s demand to prioritize Gazan civilians above all else ignores and violates international law. In fact, under international law, the anticipated military advantage of an operation (e.g., to eliminate Hamas’ terror army, prevent attacks against Israeli civilians and rescue the hostages) is weighed against the prospective harm to civilians. A military operation can go forward if the harm to civilians is not excessively out of proportion to the operation’s prospective military advantage. Israel carefully weighs every military operation under international law standards, and often calls off operations when civilians may be hurt. Israel is in fact the most moral army in the world. A far lower proportion of Gazan civilians have been harmed than in virtually any other war around the world, including wars prosecuted by the U.S.
Further, under international law, there is no obligation to supply aid to an enemy population. Israel is also not required to allow others to supply aid to the civilian population if – as is the case here – there is a reasonable concern that the aid will be diverted to military use. Hamas seizes the aid and uses it for its war effort.
(4) Biden parroted Hamas’ unverified casualty numbers as fact.
