My thing is I read things like this and I’m like this makes sense. And his arc needs to arc. But then it’s like you also have the people who have already seen the episode engaging online saying things like they really hope the show fixes what happens in tonight’s episode in 7.9 or 7.10 and them also liking fan response comments that are saying oh Eddie’s about to do something dumb with Marisol tonight isn’t he.
I get the it needs to get worse before it gets better…and it might even be tolerable if Marisol’s actress wasn’t who it is… but she is and seeing her on screen and having to continue watching it play out with them driving them closer together, sex scenes, missing scenes, constantly, like….when is enough going to be enough. There are other ways they could be doing all of this that didn’t feel like such slaps in the face to everyone especially while they keep spouting the were so inclusive and supportive badges. I hope the pay off is worth it. I really really do.
Hey Nonny! It totally get it! I do. I hate these kinds of arcs as well. Every good TV-show with slow burn romances has these kinds of arcs. I remember so many of them and the frustration it brought along, knowing that two people are so right for each other but they just can't see it or they actively 'choose' not to see it. I've watched tons of TV-shows like that. And, mind you, I was a teenager in the 90's, so we couldn't binge watch anything. We had to patiently wait for a new episode every week. Sometimes the channel suddenly decided to drop the show and there was no resolution at all. It was frustrating, but the one thing I learned was patience... so much patience. Because when that moment came. THE MOMENT when two slow burn lovers finally came together? So incredibly worth it!
So yes. I get it. When I see stills with Eddie and Marisol like this I do get angry. I know in my gut that Eddie might be about to do something monumentally stupid for the wrong reasons. But then I think back to Ana and I realise it's the exact same story they are telling. But this time it'll (hopefully) have a better ending. An ending of Eddie choosing his own happiness over that of his son for once. Doesn't mean he loves Chris any less. It just means that the most important thing for Chris is that his father is happy and that will make him happy as well.
Eddie won't be running away this time, just actively choosing for himself. This is growth and it's what we need to see for him to move on to something better in life. And hopefully, if the show chooses to go there, that will be Buck.
I know Buck is with Tommy now, but that relationship is definitely also on a timeline with a clear ending. Marisol and Tommy are plot devices. They only pop up in the narrative when they are needed to make a point.
So the way I see it, one day both Eddie and Buck will be completely free and they'll be able to actively choose each other. And they will be each other's endgame.
As for Edy. I hear you. I hear you loud and clear. I always try to seperate actor from character, but in this case it's extremely difficult to do. I'm not sure why the show has decided to keep her around, knowing who she really is. I can only hope she is on her way out as we speak and we won't see her again in season 8 or anywhere else on our TV-screens.
I hope tonight's episode won't stress you out too much Nonny. I wish you calm and happy times.

my greatest achievement in DA2 is maxing out Carver's friendship
and all it took was begrudgingly kissing a little templar ass in act 1 because Carver didn't want to plan a prison break if my Hawke got his ass arrested for being stupid.

werewolf au but not werewolf as in the supernatural creature, werewolf as in the game--they’re all in the Wheelers’ basement and Eddie is creating a very dramatic and atmospheric scene as the werewolves pick off the rest of the party members one by one
and it’s been over half a year since they stopped Vecna from taking Hawkins, and Nancy has spent every single day trying to stop herself from falling for Robin. she doesn’t want to start another relationship solely out of shared trauma. she tells herself it’s a phase, something lingering from the intensity of spring break, and she’ll get over it.
she doesn’t.
so when the entire group suddenly suspects Robin of being the werewolf, when they vote her out and Eddie describes Robin’s gruesome, unjust death, Nancy sort of feels herself spiraling. she thinks about the real monsters that have plagued Hawkins, and about the way Robin looked in the cold woods of the Upside Down, and the way Robin looks in her nightmares, still, even months later, when she’s dead and gone and Nancy can’t save her.
Robin moves away from the group to go sit in the shadows with the rest of the dead, and Nancy feels so stupid, it’s just a game, but she can’t help but miss her like an ache

#rat rambles#oni posting#baby days is the rabbit universe one to be clear#oh and the other two are indeed abt canon jackie but in my typical 5d chess sorta way where it's from an incredibly biased pov#smth smth jackie constantly self sabotaging and being oh so shocked when it causes her mental health to spiral and trying to justify it to#herself while also trying to burry it under even more work and isolation that just makes everything even worse#also shes divorced and sad abt it even though shes the one who has been pushing olivia away even pre divorce#and she has absolutely no plans on stopping she is both holding onto hopes of olivia turning around while also actively pushing her away#also kinda unrelated but I keep thinking back to scrapped jackie and olivia#and how fascinating it is that good ol jodi was honestly kind of shitty#well ok olivia is also shitty in many ways but the original divorce™ scene was soooo much worse of a look than the current one#long story short the two started a business immediately after jodi graduated that jackie especially was super excited abt#jackie was also anxious abt it though since she was struggling to get her phd and felt she had to rely on jodi to be taken seriously#but they quickly ran into money issues which eventually lead to jodi leaving after she was given an offer to join a large project#which youd think its like ah I see a conflict between friendship and dreams#which isnt wrong per say but oh my god did jodi fuck up her wording so bad like holy shit#she was all like I think this project would be a better use of my phd than continuing to do this#which Im not saying that feeling that way is bad per say but when your like best friend who you know has issues with personal worth and has#been putting a lot of effort and presumably money into this business that you suggested founding its maybe not the best idea to say#straight to her face that you think this is a waste of your time and abilities even if you probably think youre putting it nicely#thats whats so fascinating to me abt old jackie is that to me shes borderline genuinely sympathetic#which is why I love the idea of her having similar character traits still but in a less justified environment#like I am still in shock that so many of my jackie headcanons actually held water like even my ppl didn't take jackie's ideas seriously#and that being a bonding factor for olivia and jackie was smth that actually existed in the original concepts for the two#again Im glad they were scrapped for a multitude of reasons but its so vindicating that I was actually onto smth#Ive talked abt how I think its good they got scrapped because of the importance of oni's narrative being patchy and vague#but also I am so glad they scrapped pretty much all of jackie's actively sympathetic elements even if I still like sympathising with her#I know I complain abt us not seeing enough of jackie's perspective of things outside of her immediate research but thats mostly on the#grounds that it makes olivia and jackie's old friendship feel too trapped in the implied realm#I want jackie to feel like theres more to her life but I dont want said things to feel like a part of the plot if that makes sense

Spencer’s feet ache dully with each step he takes, but you have your hand in his, and you’re pulling him along with a smile. Your smile could cure anything, he thinks stupidly. It’s completely outside of his beliefs, goes against every book on medicine he’s ever read.
“Why are you frowning?” you ask, swinging his hand as you turn the corner together.
“I’m not.”
You step closer, arm stuck to his arm, nearly one body walking together against the summer breeze. “You’re frowning, Spence. You have a very obvious pout. It is so so cute.” You lean in to kiss him quickly, his heart turning to a pitter-patter under his ribs.
“I’m tired,” he explains, not wanting you to think his bad mood has anything to do with you.
“You’ve had a long day, that’s why. When we get back to your place I’ll give you an incredible foot massage and everything will be okay again.”
“I don’t want a foot massage. My feet don’t even hurt,” he lies.
“Don’t bother.” You untangle your fingers from his and wave him away. “I know all your tells, baby boy,” —he laughs through a wrinkled nose— “nothing gets past me.”
“Why’d you choose a dry cleaners so far from your apartment?” he asks. You could’ve picked the one beside work, which has a yellow pages worth of fantastic reviews. The one second closest to his place is new but raved about at length. This dry cleaners is nearly twenty-five blocks away.
“They do things exactly how I like it, I guess. I never have to worry about it when I give them my best clothes, and it’s kind of expensive if they were to accidentally ruin something, right?” You have expensive taste; you like things sturdy, fitted, and fashionable.
“Do you think I should get someone to do my laundry?” he asks.
“You can afford it. But maybe not. There’s nothing wrong with your own washing machine and a steamer.” You side eye him carefully. “Maybe I’m over the top.”
“You’re high maintenance,” he agrees. “Is it expensive, getting your clothes dry cleaned all the time? I could pay for that.”
“What? Why would you pay for it?”
“‘Cos we’re together?” He’s more worried than dry about it. “I’d like to pay for your manicures and your hair, too, but I didn’t think you’d let me.”
“And I won’t… s’kind of nice you want to though. Really nice, um.” You’re blinking funny. “I think that’s more of a husband thing. You really want to pay for me to get manicures?”
Spencer pays for lots of your stuff because he loves you. Good food mostly, but treats, clothes, anything he might think you’re interested in, actually. He likes to spoil you. You tend to spoil him back, if not with money then affection. “I like maintaining you.”
You curl your arm through his. “That’s a funny way to say it.”
He laughs at your obvious delight. “I like taking care of you,” he admits. “You like being high maintenance, it makes you happy, and I like making you happy.”
“Thank you very much,” you say, softer now as your hand works up his neck and you turn his face to you, the sidewalk and the streetlines melting away under your warm touch. “You make me happier than you know.”
His cheeks turn pink. He doesn’t need to see himself to confirm. It’s a high statistical probability.
“Kiss?” you ask, voice still soft.
Spencer walks you back nearer to the side of a building and out of the way, his hands at your neck and waist as he leans down just a touch to close your gap. He acts selfishly, perhaps, taking your hand from his face in order to hold yours in both of his without anything in the way of it. He kisses, he breathes you in, his head tilting more heavily to the side as the kiss lengthens, lingers. You’re like a flower in his hand, blooming slowly under the effects of a little heat.
“What if you pay for my dry cleaning,” you begin, a smile evident in your voice though Spencer keeps his eyes closed. Tracing the hill of your cheek with his fingers just a moment longer. “And I pay for yours?”
Spencer thumbs along your jaw. “I don’t want anything from you, just you.”
“Well, what if I treat us to some Indian takeout tonight?” you ask. “Would you eat that? Or am I enough to sustain you, my love?”
He could enjoy being taken care of in turn, he thinks.

ᡣ𐭩 bill and his tank tops
you look at bill who you lead into the bedroom. closing the door behind you, you press a small but sweet kiss onto his lips that leave him smiling. “what’s up schatzi?” he asks, his cheeks are a rosy pink as he stares at you.
“you’re just so breathtaking, bill—like i can’t get enough of this look!”
laughing, he tilts his head, “where’s this coming from?” “i mean, come on, bill.. are you kidding? like you’re beautiful everyday but this hair.. it’s driving me crazy..” you stare at bill as he averts eye contact, clearly, you’re making him embarrassed by the unexpected compliments tonight.
but it’s true. for their new era, bill decided to get dreadlocks. tom says that he’s copying him but each of their hair looks totally and completely different despite following the same concept.
now don’t get it twisted, tom’s dreads were sick as fuck. but on bill?
it just unleashed this sort of sex appeal that cannot be explained, yet it suits him just right.
on top of that, for their humanoid era, bill’s fashion has been incredibly taunting. and it’s not just any piece of clothing, it’s the tank tops. let it be tight to show off his small waist and a little bit of bicep to prove he does a little work out on the side, it was sensual, and when you first witnessed it,
you swear gears started to turn in your head.
it didn’t pique your interest until one of the tank tops that bill wore was wayy more loose on him. slipping off his shoulder, “sorry meine liebe.. i just need to grab something,” as the strap of the tank top falls even lower, you peek through an opening to reveal his bare chest. he might as well have not worn anything today because he’s dressing like a total slut.
the little buds taunting you, as if they were trying to tease you on purpose. was he doing this to get at you or did he just completely not know..?
licking your lips, you rub your hands on bill’s shoulders, “can.. can i try something..?” bill’s eyes widen. the two of you weren’t really experimental in bed. your vanilla lifestyle had kept the two of you satisfied and never really branches out to the dark sides of intimacy.
until tonight.

bill’s arms come up to hug his body in embarrassment, “y/n.. you’re staring s’much..” “sorry bill, can’t help it, my beautiful boyfriend is soooo hot..” you bring your hands to hold his arms that still wrap around his body. “now let me see you more? ja?”
he could only oblige when you lift away his arms with no trouble. placing each arm down to his side, you slide your hands up and down his chest, tickling him. “what’re you doing..?” bill’s chest heaves slightly, getting a little bit ticklish to the sensations of your hands moving across his body.
“just a little sumthin’” you stop your hands above his nipples. they’re so tiny. so tiny and so cute. standing above bill in front of him, all he could do was look up at you and bite his lip in anticipation.
you bring your fingers to circle around the muscle. just curious, into seeing how he would react. you would circle the pads of your fingers awfully slow, looking down at his chest and back up at his face.
twisted in confusion, bill didn’t know how to react. it was ticklish, uncomfortable. but some part of it brought upon pleasure, as you continued to move your hands across his chest the way you like, he could feel his pants becoming a tad bit tighter.
“you okay bill..?” “y-yeah.. feel s’weird, but i like it..” you come to sit and straddle his lap, kissing his lips and bringing your hands to run you fingers through his hair, “would you like me to continue?” bill just nods and looks back down shyly.
you grip onto his hair to make him look at you once more, “billy.. i need you to use your words,” “y-yes please..” “very well.” hands upon his chest, you fondle the tissue under your fingers while bringing his mouth to yours yet again.
you lick at his lips to ask permission, mouth slightly agape you take this as a sign and slip the muscle into his mouth.
bill didn’t even attempt to fight for dominance, tonight, he was gonna let you take over.
as your mouths entangle one another, you feel bill’s tongue piercing and run your tongue across it. while doing so, you thought to take it up a notch elsewhere and pinched his nipples.
“mm!” bill moans into the kiss, “feels good hm?” as you speak into the kiss. bill would just whine and essentially started to grind his hips onto yours after realizing you fully sat on top of him.
you lay bill down onto the soft mattress, legs hanging off of the bed as you still sat on him. trailing kisses down his body, you stop at his chest. “can i continue..?” “i need you to continue..” bill spoke with a breathy voice, he was needy, and was reallyyy into whatever you’re doing.
guiding your mouth towards one nipple, you take a lick and look up at bill’s face who’s eyes are squeezed shut and mouth agape. you further nip at the left bud while rolling the right between your index and thumb finger, almost pinching it.
switching from doing that, you suck on the skin around his nipples that cover his chest, leaving many hickeys. the both of you not caring where, just as long as they’re there.
you continue this stimulation until you feel bill shake under you. your body jolts up and looks down at bill. “bill! a-are you okay??”
his chest rises up and down, hard. arms raised above his head as he attempts to hide his face between that and the bed. his nipples were puffy and more swollen. the once small buds were now a tad bit larger than before, and you somehow made a ring of hickeys around his left nipple. the purple and blue discolouration decorating his pale skin, some of them following up his neck.
he’s a total and utter wreck.
not to mention, you look behind you as you feel a certain grinding at your butt and a wet spot that has developed on his jeans particularly near his crotch.
did he, did bill come by just having his nipples touched?
you laugh and giggle, bill playfully hits your chest, “you came!” “i-i know! god, so embarrassing..” “didn’t know my boyfriend was so sensitive,” “it felt really good.. i have to admit.” bill then brings your hand to unzip his jeans.

Odd question but - I'm looking to study in the UK this fall, and I'm trying to get to grips with the grading system. Could you explain the grading boundaries to me please? It's different from the US, as far as I can see!
I found this handy table which you might find useful - I don't really understand the US system either lol.
Here's what I will say though - I have many times before seen Americans online seeing the percentages for the UK grade boundaries and immediately wax lyrical about how EASY and SIMPLE it must be to do well in the UK because OH MY GOD I could tooootally get 70%!!! In the US that's barely a C!!! Wow education must be soooo simple in the UK -
And uh. I have seen very few Americans in those discussions stop and ask themselves how much harder it might be to hit 70% in the UK. Which, as the international academic office in every university will tell you, is the crucial question you absolutely should be asking. Does an American 70% look the same as a UK 70%?
(It Does Not.)
So don't be fooled by that! Over here, at undergrad the pass mark is 40%. 40-49% gets you a third; 50-59% gets you what's varyingly known as a lower second (formally), a 2:2 (most commonly), or a Desmond (by sad people. It's a reference to Desmond Tutu - two two). A 2:2 is also the most commonly awarded degree classification over here.
60-69% is a 2:1, or upper second class honours. And then the top level is the first - 70% and up. The vast majority of firsts are earned by students who got 70-79%. Exceptional work pushes into the 80s. It is incredibly rare that you ever see a mark in the 90s, and when you do, it's almost always on maths papers where there are right or wrong answers and that's it.
I can't remember how the US's summa cum laude etc stuff maps onto that, though you could probably find that on Google as well. But as a rule of thumb, think first = excellent, 2:1 = good, 2:2 = fair, and third = you need to be careful and see what you can do to improve (although that is still a pass at university and that is not to be sniffed at).
Ooh, as a final point, though, there's also how assessment works, which again, I know is very different over here (again I don't really understand it in the US). Your lecturer cannot set random work here and there to count as summative assessment. Every module is different in how it's set up, but let's give an example:
Module: Coastal and Marine Conservation
Two assessments, each worth 50% of the final grade.
Assessment 1: A report on the biodiversity of Ramsey Island in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Explore the cause of the lower biodiversity there than nearby Skomer/Skokholm; how was this challenged/rectified? How have species recovered since? What should be done into the future?
Assessment 2: A two-hour closed book exam. Half of this exam (50 marks) will be a mix of short and medium length questions; things like "Define these five terms (two marks each)", or "Describe the process of longshore drift and its impact on sedimentation patterns (15 marks)" or what have you. The second half is a 50 mark essay - pick one of three essay questions offered, and off you go.
(Essay questions are a staple feature of exams over here, and multiple choice questions are extremely rare and generally frowned on as being Not Sufficiently Academic.)
Now, in the case of this module, these are the only two assessment points. Both the report brief and the exam paper are registered with the academic office in the summer before the academic year even starts, and both are triple verified - by the lecturer who writes/sets them, by an internal verifier in the department, and an external verifier from another university. This is part of quality control.
If, for some reason, you fail one of these, or cannot submit them by their due date, or what have you, you still have to do them. If you claim for Extenuating Circumstances (e.g. "I was made homeless and my cat blew up, so I couldn't do it in time") then you get an extension on it; as long as you submit by the end of the academic period, you're fine. If you don't, you need to resit it. This normally means over the summer after the main term ends.
But, in the UK system what we can't do is go "Okay never mind, how about you submit a write-up of the volunteering you're currently doing with SeaLife instead and we'll count that?" The reason being, under the UK system that is not a quality-controlled solution. That has not been checked and verified as an equivalent assessment to what the rest of the class has done; so if you do that and get a 2:1, there is no assurance that you are actually of the same academic quality as one of your peers who got a 2:1 for that research report on Ramsey's biodiversity.
Which... don't let it scare you! As I say, there are a LOT of systems that can help you if things start going wrong (always, always, always keep Student Support and your lecturers in the loop). But that is a different system from what I understand you might be used to, so heads up on that.
(I am not arguing that one is better than the other, by the way. Last time I explained a difference in the UK university system I got a very hostile and aggressive American in the notes throwing a right strop over how terrible the UK system clearly is because XYZ, right up until I had to actually say "I am literally just describing how it's different, not claiming superiority," and then they went mysteriously quiet and stopped replying. So to forestall that, I am only describing the differences. There are advantages and disadvantages to each.
The UK system is certainly more inflexible. But it does, incidentally, at least free you from the tyranny I see reported so often by US students of the dreaded Tenured Professor who deliberately as a matter of pride sets impossible exams that everyone fails. Over here, that shit Does Not Fly. So there's that.)
