How much songwriting do you think Louis actually does? When asked to discuss the songs on fitf he talked about what the professional songwriters did rather than what he did. He can't play any instruments either. I'm thinking just a few lyrics and giving the others instructions about theme and genre.

Hi, anon!

I actually think he does a lot of songwriting, song-making maybe less so. That's the impression i've got. I think he's very involved with the actual writing part, dear i say more than Harry is. I think he's the one coming up with subjects, themes and emotions he wants to convey and has lines and partial songs written down, and makes voice memos on his phone. Louis has shown himself to be well spoken and he has a vast vocabulary, so i think you might be underestimating his involvement and passion for writing.

After he's written alot of partial songs and written down his ideas, he brings along some other songwriters to an intensive writing/songmaking camp where they together write and make 50-100 songs. You can’t just write the songs on paper without putting sound and music too it, and i think he less involved in that part, at least compared to H. Figuring out melodies, creating catchy hooks and riffs i think the other songswriters do. They've said so at least. But Louis helps with changing specific words and lyrics to match the melody and figuring out what words to emphasise, what lyrics needs repeating and how it's going to be sung. I think he's an experienced songwriter and he's got the most songwriting credit out of all the 1d members (and it's the best songs) when they were writing for 1d. I think he likes songwriting and i think he's the best out of all of them at writing lyrics.

He has admitted to being sent already written songs (and maybe also demos) from the label or other song writers, which he identified with and changed a couple of lyrics to make his own. Only the Brave and Headline are one of those songs. Problem with that is you might get lyrics that doesn’t make any sense as a Louis fan;

This doesn’t fit any narrative at all so who's he talking about?

The more you let other songwriters write your songs the less you they become and the less genuine they'll be to sing. That's one of my issues with H's songs (but that another chapter in and of itself...). I've noticed that Louis prefers to perform the songs he's written himself. So i think Louis wants to be very involved in the writing that part of music making. And he's good at it too!
