The Paris Special

Ok so here's what I thought of it:

Loved it.

Shadybug and Claw Noir owns my heart entirely now.

Seems Shadybug's backstory is a bit more than just Chloé bullying her, given that in her universe, the world is controlled by the Supreme who rules with fear. Her outright saying that she will be spared if she gets the Butterfly back also seems to imply that she will probably get killed if she doesn't, so she's threatened with violence too I guess, and same goes for Claw Noir, yikes. Oh and them using their powers for evil while so young apparently is destroying them from the inside? Double yikes. 14 years old being threatened to not be spared if they didn't complete their missions, kind of see why they're so intense they don't really have the luxury of failing or they'll probably be killed, ouch. Angry, sad kids being offered power in exchange for living, because even if they hate their lives now they also want to live, I'll probably get more in details with that in another post.

Ok so alternate Gabriel was not a good man at first either, then after losing his wife he decided to redeem himself by trying to do the right thing, unfortunatly seems he neglects his son in the process. So here he's the not main big bad, the Supreme seems to hold that position and being nastier than he is/was so there is a huge difference between that universe and the one we've been in for the show, and maybe losing his wife made him realise the errors of his ways. He's not perfect either since his son seems to resent how he moved on so fast probably, and well, I have feelings about that too, but well, he was able to move on, because he has bigger problems than grieving his wife and wanting her back.

Claw Noir is freaking insane, he Cataclysmed himself and kept walking and going without any trouble, wow, meanwhile Chat Noir and Gabriel kept groaning and flinching and being in pain the entire time they were cataclysmed. Also he got a crush on Marinette from watching her in the bakery the first time around, she didn't know about it but reverse love there, too bad Shadybug didn't have feelings for him, but well, I dunno, found their bickering also entertaining for some reason. He doesn't take Shadybug's crap, he fights right back and isn't passive at all.

Shadybug and Claw Noir struggling to work together was believable, they try to take each other's miraculous, and insults and hurt each other too, and neither takes any crap from the other and gives back as good as they get. But they also still manage to work well together despite it all, and manage to calm themselves and let go of their anger to focus on their objective. In the end they get better and they also know each other's identity so they might become a couple too, given Adrien already loves her it seems, so they won't be alone anymore, would be funny if they revealed themselves to Betterfly and Betterfly to them and Adrien realise it's his dad and then says Marinette is gonna be his girlfriend and Gabriel ships them so hard and welcomes her into the family and Marinette just takes it all in shy stride and stuff and I need to see them again one more time to see how it goes in their universe RIGHT NOW!!!!

So Tikki knows about the multiple universe stuff and thought Marinette's life was too short to get into that so she stuck to the basics, given the trainwreck that Marinette is sometimes I find it understandable that Tikki wouldn't want to burden her with other universes either so.

Slow motion akumatized Chat Noir, that was weird, but ok.

Alternate Alya, love her hair and looks. Ubiquity looks amazing.

Shadybug realising Ladybug is also her in that universe and reading Marinette's diary and keeps commenting and then tearing up over it, my heart. Then she finds the stuff about the wish, tries to do it, but apparently the Supreme fucking put a lock on that somehow? Wow! Ok. Meanwhile Adrien being restrained on the floor blushing at Shadybug's civilian self looks a bit kinky to me, and I'll leave it at that.

Ladyfly looks ok I guess, still weird to see her with the miraculous that she's been fighting against for the entire show but ok.

Shadybug and Claw Noir being talked out and become better, Shadybug using her Miraculous Cure which cures Claw Noir, and them getting new costumes, not gonna lie here, I prefered their villain looks, but well they still have more style as heroes too. Shadyclaw for the win, love how Claw Noir likes her new looks too.

It was hilarious to see Monarch working with Shadybug and Claw Noir, teaming up with villains versions of the heroes he's been fighting against the entire time is pretty ironic but it was ok too, but most likely they would probably have all turned on each other the moment they succeeded too if they would have won.

The parallel universes fights between akumatized Ladybug (omg it finally happened but with a good kamiko instead of an evil akuma what a time to be alive and she reminded me of a purple Sailor Moon) was nice, Scarabella and Kitty Noire (glad there's a universe where they are the heroes), Mister Bug and Lady Noire universe also is nice because it means Adrien can lead probably, and of course animated 2D cartoon universe, let's go.

So yeah I loved the special more than the others, now it dethrones the Shangai special in my heart.

Shadybug and Claw Noir are my kids now.

But Hey Mayulla! i was reading your writing for the 13 step brothers AU and | really enjoyed the one where she had a crush! So | was thinking]

What is she actually got a byofriend??

Like imagine she got a boyfriend and her boyfriend is like an only child, that would be interesting he's like ' :0 ' when he finds out she has like 13 step brothers.

And what if she kept it a secret as well?

Like with how they reacted when she has a crush on a guy they'd sure react 100x more extreme. So she keeps it a secret so their relationship is more clam because she's like 100% sure they'd like spy on their dates and stuff or like try to intimidate him??

But what if they found outtttt

Like they all accidentally find out when they go to some fancy restaurant for ' bonding time’ and they're all talking and Xiao just points at them and they see her on a date

I feel the calmer ones ( Zhongli, Diluc, Albedo, Thoma, Xiao, Chongyun and Bennet) are like ' is that really [ name ]? | think they'd be shocked and wonder why she didn't tell them ( Definitely Xiao and Zhongli ).

The Cheeky but clam ones ( Keaya, Kazuha and Ayato ) would be like ' Oh? Is that our little sister there? With a boy?? | feel they'd just find the situation interesting and wouldn't really be to bothered by the situation. But they definitely would be the type of intimidate her boyfriend if they ever has a dinner together.

Then you have the hyper-active ones ( Childe, Venti and Itto ) Venti would like dramatically pretend to faint and then start quietly sniffing and fake crying. Itto would be like asking Ayato or something if he knows anything about the guy or something. Then Childe would be like trying to walk over to then but Diluc would be holding him down.

I can only imagine what would happen when they confront her and her boyfriend cones over

Don't worry about it, I did receive it but it took a while to answer, so it is also my fault too really ^^' But dear this is totally adorable and yes that is probably what is gonna happen lmao

This is more elementary like grade 1 or 2 reader or maybe kindergarten but I don't think she would really be proficient in lying if she is still so young. If she is still young like in elementary still, how reader would lie is essentially someone (probably Childe or Thoma, and to a certain point I am willing to bet on Diluc) asking you how your day was only to suddenly be ignored as you looked elsewhere but him. Poor man, the guy would be wondering what has he ever done to you. The smarter ones would know that something was up. (Zhongli, Ayato, Kaeya)

But somehow you avoided that whole situation and oh! you have a date at the playground later but you were not allowed to go there cause the boy you liked lived a little farther than your nearest playground. So you need to ask someone to take you there, and you can't just ask any brother! It would feel like you admitting to doing a no-no that Zhongli told you not to do like being friends with bad kids or touching a cigarette!

So you have to think if who to ask, Zhongli and Childe were definitely a no. Ayato would ask too many questions and in the end, you will never go there! Most of your brothers have school or uni and you can't bother them. Thinking you were heading to the kitchen when you saw Kaeya on the huge living room sofa relaxing with a white tee and gray joggers on.

"Oh, out from your room? Are you hungry? My workplace brought a lot of snacks and wasn't able to finish everything so they gave me some." Looking at your laid-back brother Kaeya, you considered him. He never reacted too hugely to anything you said, sure he would tease you sometimes but he was always willing to help you out. So you took your chance.

Kaeya definitely didn't miss this opportunity to tease you pinching your cheek and asking when you have grown so much to have a boyfriend now. But when you asked him why he had got up all of a sudden, he told you that he can't be taking you to your date only in joggers.

Really brother Kaeya is the best!

It was really a playdate at this point when you got to the ice cream place near another playground. The boy was waiting for you with his mom saw you and waved as you waved back with Kaeya right behind you.

While you and the boy played with each other Kaeya and the boy's mom chatted with each other and at the end of the day when the sun was going down you finally went back home. (the boy's mother's face was definitely not red dear...) In your hand is a small wildflower you picked at the side of the playground that you showed to Kaeya. "Oh, why did you give this to your little boyfriend?" Kaeya asked teasingly, the car still didn't start as you were beside him putting the flower on his hair. "Cause you are my favorite!"

Kaeya definitely laughed asking if you were trying to convince him to help go to your next date which you just grinned. "My little sister is starting to act a lot like me." Kaeya joked ruffling your hair.

You guys were caught at one point, but it didn't really matter. Kaeya had become the person you often go to tell him your secrets to even as you grow older. So when you became old enough to go on dates by yourself, while everybody was shocked as you walked away holding a boy's hand not even noticing them at the small cafe Kaeya can't help but smirk as he watched his brothers. After all, he already knew.

Tho Kaeya won't always there when you came back home only to be confronted by everyone. Kaeya didn't help you much as you try to explain yourself to them. If you were gonna keep a secret from the family you better know that if you were caught he won't be saving you from everything.

(You giving him puppy dog eyes won't be helping your situation either.)

I was there in the trenches of the sanitize byler phases of this tag. Literally a year ago the same discourse happened so the cycle repeats itself once a season. We just made it to kissing practice/makeout fics being acceptable when bylers were in-fighting about the morality of that. In every other fandom, there's an understanding that if you don't like keep scrolling. Don't engage, just block and find what you want to look at online without bothering others. But this overpolicing of how others run their blog is insane. The entitlement is rampant especially when the internet has always been the Wild Wild West aka never knowing what you'll stumble across so tread carefully and leave folks who aint send for you alone.

Not to mention that this misplaced outrage is over fictional characters when irl predators exist harming real people. If one consumes horror fic are they condoning murder? No, they're just a horror fan. So why is it not treated the same with erotica/smut fics. I have actual irls who are survivors of real predators who hate people misusing/overusing the predator terms over fictional characters on this site. They sometimes use fanfiction to process what happened to them as a kid/teen so their fic recs are pretty mature and dark due to the themes that help them feel seen/heard because it's easier to use fiction to understand their trauma at a safe distance than to talk to real people if they want to remain anonymous since that's very personal.

Are they freaks/weirdos/etc for wanting to read or engage in that stuff that harms literally no one? I promise real predators aren't on tumblr gushing about a fictional ship's sex lives. They're online somewhere trying to talk to actual kids who are unmonitored on the internet which a majority of adults know how to navigate better and have more access to since the internet was born in 1996.

To conclude, fight for irl survivors and prevent irl predatory behavior over fictional byler who would be in their mid50s by now. Also, newsflash, teens have sex, straight or gay, especially in the midwest when in a small ass town, especially the bigoted ones like Hawkins.

So sorry your blog is getting talked about when you gave a disclaimer, block button is free, and you let people know what tags to block as well. You're being nice cuz you didn't have to do all that, but you did, but nothing is ever gonna be good enough for byler tag. They must hate Young Royals with all the gay teen sex over there lol

All great points! And thank you for the support. And you're right. Antis must really not know what to do with Young Royals lol. The fact that some Bylers have been cancelled from writing makeout fics that are too steamy is still baffling to me.

Okay SO, since y'all seemed to like my idea post I'm gonna ramble about the Borrower Woodrow au! This isn't really a fic nor headcanons it's just me writing down a bunch of ideas for this au

LONG RAMBLE UNDER THE CUT!!!

Okay so for those who don't know what borrowers are, the short answer is fairies without wings. They're little creatures that often resemble rodents that live in people's walls or out in forests, and often "borrow" human items (or in this case Rabbid items) such as food and trinkets like buttons, felt, anything really.

They fit PERFECTLY with the aesthetic of pallet prime!! Given they're often shown sometimes living in trees, or using stuff like acorn caps as hats or tree leaves as clothing, there's so many connections to be made!

Anyways back to what you all are probably here for, Woodrow but s m o l

He'd still have his curse! And wouldn't be too different personality wise? He's still a monochromatic poet. But he'd (at least as a kid) be hiding in the town of pallet prime, scavenging and "borrowing" supplies while trying to stay hidden and avoid being stepped on or caught.

I can see him residing in a library of sorts, and after closing time he'd try his best to read the poetry books there, even making a few poems of his own! Though despite his curse...it probably wouldn't go well. Every time Woodrow's curse would cause something bad to happen, the townspeople would blame it on this "spirit of bad luck", which would become basically this urban legend amongst them.

Eventually, Woodrow would've encountered a young Sweetlopek, who immediately thinks Woodrow's a fairy of some kind would try and befriend him, at first Woodrow would try and avoid him out of fear (Sweets is like 20 times his size, can you blame him??), but after getting over his fear of being squashed he'd accept the friend offer!

(also, I can't stop imagining a tiny Woodrow riding around in Sweetlopeks overalls pocket, it's too cute and image)

Part of me wants to say they just stay as friends since then, but the other part has another idea...

Woodrow starts reading Sweets some of the poems he's made, which is of course causing all SORTS of trouble for the townsfolk, one of which managing to trace the chaos to Woodrow (bonus points if it's that one burly Rabbid that punched Woodrow in canon)

That Rabbid connects the dots to the bad luck spirit and Woodrow, causing the townspeople to go into a frenzy trying to catch him, and he unfortunately gets separated from Sweetlopek during this, who's trying to convince the townspeople Woodrow did nothing wrong and didn't wanna hurt anyone.

Meanwhile in the chaos, Woodrow ends up getting fucking TRAMPLED by the mob of angry Rabbids, but somehow escapes into the forest to safety. Where he'll stay for a while to lay low and avoid other Rabbids.

Aaand I'm just gonna stop the post here before WOW it's getting long, I know that was a lot of angst BUT DW THERE'S FLUFF STUFF COMING SOON I PROMISE. Just gotta get the angst out of the way first. Also gonna be renaming this to the Borrower!Woodrow au instead of Borrower!Phandrow au since it's not ENTIRELY Phandrow centered, though there is phandrow in it eventually!

"I said I knew" is a quote from a book im reading at school and of course that led me to a scu fic idea!

AU: The council but they're children.

IDEA: Adventures of the Council when they were children! At some point they accidentally but not really accidentally send Grizzly to hell.

-- this was supposed to be /srs fic but its turned into crack.

-- Since I want to tie SBI kingdom into this, I'm gonna just casually snatch some DSMP characters and make them baeby too :]

-- Some side characters will be Tommy, Wilbur, Techno, Phil, probably Skeppy and Bad, Quackity, Purpled maybe? Oh yeah and Schlatt.

-- The format will be short stories each chapter, none really connecting but there are references.

-- Condi's a dragon hybrid. He can fly and carry around his body weight. He can control dimensions but his powers are sometimes out of control. He's the quiet kid, always with his oversized headphones.

-- Charlie can control plants and knows a lot about potions. The usual, but when he panics he can lose control. Same for the rest of the group. He's an extrovert and protective over Condi.

-- Bizly doesn't really have a filter and is bold of what he says. He has a very strong bond with any animals.

-- Grizzly is an ambivert. Loud with friends, pretty quiet alone unless someone says "anime".

-- Schlatt's the bully in this fic, but everything's pretty light hearted in this au. He somewhat cares for the people around him, but he's not good at showing affection and ends up hurting people. Orrr he's just annoyed and actually wants to hurt people sometimes. Children. Oh and he's a few months older than rest of the Council.

-- Everything's the same besides they're children and nothing really bad ever happens.

-- Tommy pretends he's more powerful than the Council but he isn't. He's bossy sometimes but not in a Schlatt way. Charlie's fond of him and considers him a friend, and Tommy does consider them (as in the council) friends no matter how much he denies it.

-- Wilbur's the middle child, Techno's the oldest, Phil's the dad. The usual SBI stuff.

-- Phil adopted(?) the gods as his own. The orphanage was struggling with four very powerful gods and almost pleaded for the king to not take them because they'd only cause chaos. But Phil did adopt them (not officially, but he lets the children sleep in the castle if they want).

-- To Condi, Charlie's his everything. Charlie's the one who speaks up for Condi. He really, really likes Charlie. Very attached, clingy even. This changes as they grow up to be teens, and Condi does talk, but for now he's a shy child :>

-- Puddi is actually a character here. Genderfluid he/she/they/it. Puddi can change its hair length and stuff so that's helpful :D Puddi's one of the few beings Schlatt's gentle to. Puddi can sometimes be really energetic or really, really shy.

-- There's also Apple. Agender and no pronouns (just name)! Loves chaos. Looks up to Schlatt.

-- Condi sometimes uses they/them.

-- Schlatt is surprisingly very respectful for people (or non-people)'s identity. There was this one time he actually stood up for Condi when they were feeling they/them and no one was using it. They have this digital nametag thing that shows name and pronouns. ["We're never talking about this again. But stand up for yourself, okay? This is a one time thing."]

-- That's why Condi's the one to stop Charlie from lashing out at Schlatt when he's annoyed and being over dramatic.

Drabble time!

It was a very fine evening. Grizzly had dragged his three friends out to the forest to show them something he'd made.

"Are we there yet?" Bizly asked again impatiently. His blue hoodie was like a neon blue sign to predators, but they would never harm the god of animals, no matter how young. They were even more protective, really.

Grizzly didn't answer, stubbornly struggling with a bush before Charlie moved it with ease.

"We've been walking for a while." Charlie held Condi's hand, the young dragon hybrid trailing behind the young god of alchemy and plants silently. "Shouldn't we be there right now?"

Grizzly huffed. "It's a top secret place! It's very far from Spawn."

Condi finally spoke up, adjusting his headphones. "It's been about five chunks."

"Mhm! Far... and we're here!"

The four huddled over the bush to a small clearing, clearly artificially made, rocks rooted up and a circle of dirt inside the circle of stone. Inside the circle were markings.

Satanic markings.

They all stared.

Bizly walked forward cautiously. "You have to spawn Satan?"

Grizzly almost rolled his eyes. Wasn't it obvious?

"No! I want to be Satan."

Grizzly sighed when he was met with more silence.

"Guys, I need you to send me to h-e-double hocky sticks."

"Grizzly, Condi could send you to hell anytime you want." Charlie deadpanned. Condi nodded.

"But where's the fun in that? I already got-"

"OH MY GODS, HAM!" Bizly shrieked, running forward to see a dead hairless rat in one of the ritual triangles. Bizly desperately brought it back to life, which actually worked.

"-Sacrifices." The anime obsessed child winced. Bizly had tears in his eyes when he turned, though it was difficult to tell through his sunglasses.

"What the frick, Grizz?"

"Yeah, sorry. Anyways, send me to hell guys. I want to be the last sacrifice!"

"GRIZZ-"

"Yeah, that sounds fun!" Charlie interrupted Bizly's dialogue. "Doesn't it, Condi?"

"I guess?" The other replied, tilting his head.

So, with a bit of tears on the ground, Grizzly was placed in the middle of the ritual circle. Bizly reluctantly helped, putting Ham on the side and replacing it with a dead ant instead.

"Anime, anime, anime, weeb! Anime, anime, anime, weeb!" The three chanted as red lights began the glow around the sphere.

"What the hell is going on here?"

The Council froze their chant, all turning with wide eyes as if they were caught with a video game at school. Schlatt faced them in utter confusion.

"NOOOOPE NOPE NOPE GET OUT!" The Council all simultaneously yelled except Condi, who was behind Charlie. Grizzly raised a giant rock at Schlatt, who, for a split second, had an expression of regret before he screamed and ran away.

"WHAT THE HELL IS WRong with you..." His voice diminished.

Good, now they could continue the chant.

"Anime, anime, anime, weeb! Anime, anime, ANIME, WEEB!!"

The red glow of the ritual grew brighter and brighter until the ground started to shake. The trio continued, thinking it was Grizzly making everything dramatic again even when Grizzly was muttering, "Hey... Guys? Um- maybe we should-"

Then everything happened too quickly.

Condi grabbed Charlie by his arms and flew up, Bizly getting a murder of crows to lift him up as a giant sinkhole opened up in front of them. Grizzly screamed as he fell down.

"ANIIIIMEEEEEEE!!!!" Grizzly screamed his last words. The hole then shrunk before any of the others could react.

"Huh."

I don't know if you accept requests like this, but could I ask for hange hcs as a regular student? I would like to know their routine and hobbies!

Hi! It's been a while since my last headcanons but heck I find it fun and relaxing to make them up so I'm more than willing to give Student Hange a try ^^

Sooo here we go! I'm gonna go through the stages of students hahah from elementary school up to university.

Elementary School Hange

- messy kid, always manages to spill ink on themself and somehow get paint and dirt all over their clothes.

- literally so excited the first day of elementary school! While there were other kids crying or being shy, Hange was literally jumping up and down, thrilled by the new environment and looking forward to finally learn good stuff.

- the worst at music and singing, and also a really bad actor in school plays. Hange may lack the talent, but not the enthusiasm.

- very quick to learn, thinking outside the box and helping other kids out.

- Loves science but contrary to what people might expect, their favorite class is P.E. they just have too much energy. Loves dodgeball, swimming and baseball.

Middle School Hange

- at this stage, Hange is the typical student that appears as lazy and not interested in class but has actually the top marks.

- a bit challenging to authority. Hange does not lack respect, but treats professors as if they were friends. Also, gives respect only if given respect. Don't mess around with this kid.

- They literally can be chatting with their neighbor, doodling on their notebook, staring out the window, be half asleep and a large etcetera, but each time they're asked what the professor was talking about, they know everythint about it and even extend that information.

- Favorite class now is science and in their free time they investigate about chemistry. Cannot wait to take chemistry in high school.

High school Hange

- Nailing multitasking since a very young age definitely shows now: they can sit through the first lesson absorbing the information like a sponge, while doing the homework for the next class (that they should've done the day before)

- Literally the kid you see doing last minute homework even on the bus. Everything is done last minute but they manage to get everything right and perfect.

- Gets frequently asked by classmates what their method for studying is. Literally does not know. "I dunno man, I just re-read the chapter and the notes I managed to scribble in class lol"

- Needless to say, doctor's handwriting. Sometimes they cannot even read their own notes. Their professors complain all the time and one of them even refused to correct their test if they didn't write it with decent handwriting.

- Neither popular nor a nerd. Literally in between, gets along with basically anyone and can adapt to different groups. Levi calls them "chied of the nerds" all the time though. He sometimes even jokes saying "one nerd to rule them all" because Hange is literally the only extroverted nerd and they all basically worship them.

- Favorite class is chemistry by now. Shows up first and arrives late to the next class because they get entertained by chatting with the professor about chemistry stuff.

- Takes latin as an extra-curricular class.

University Hange

- Studies at night. If they don't have classes in the morning, literally sleeps until noon and studies during all night.

- Has dog ears on each and every book they own. The insides of the covers all full of messy doodles and scribbles.

- Sometimes, when studying directly from the book, will underline different types of information with different colors. Other times will just underline with a pencil and circle words with too much force and leaving the mark on like five pages underneath. Either way can study confortably.

What would each Antares character play as in a tabletop RPG like Dungeons and Dragons? What races, classes and builds? Why? What does it say about them as a character?

now this IS a fun one. I'm gonna go with standard D&D because I know it well enough, though there is actually an in-universe dungeon-crawler tabletop RPG called Grimmlings & Grottos. But anyway! Let's do some breakdowns. Let's just set it tentatively at the beginning of the story, because what the characters might play at the end would be very different. But lets just stick with early days for now. I'm also gonna stick to the people, so far, who might currently have played in Ruby's hypothetical D&D game, so thats mostly her family and friend group. Beacon Era, even. Or else this would be VERY long.

First of all: Ruby is the DM. No question. She wants to tell stories, make homebrew stuff, and gets to play all of the monsters and NPCs. done deal. If she had to be a player at all she'd probably want to be something she can do a lot of fun roleplaying in, and also probably be really rules-lawyering and try to swing it all in her favour. Which makes me think that her go to is a Stout Halfling Dhampir (its a lineage that goes on top of a base race) as an Arcane Trickster Rogue or something ("yeah DM sneak attack is once per turn"). But yeah Ruby is the DM. As for why? She likes storytelling, and she likes having a measure of control over things around her, she's not ever been a 'go-with-the-flow' person, she thinks and plans and even as leader her worries were 'what if things get out of control and I can't handle that' rather than 'i'm too young for this'. And, well, Ruby is all about fairytales and grand adventures, what suits her better than making that grand adventure?

Which is to say: when the players go off script she gets grumpy about it. She'll roll with it but she'll complain. "Yang I gave you eight seperate story threads and you picked PIRACY? that wasn't one of them do you know how many crew member NPCs I have to roll up now?"

I like to think that canonically the Xiao Long-Rose-Branwen household has played at least one session with Ruby DMing and Yang instantly picked the highest damage output possible and built an Orc Barbarian (Path of the Beast). Backstory? What's that? "Her name's Ember and she's killed twenty people, lets go kill monsters'. I think this should be quite self-explanatory to Yang's beginning characterisation. She wants to skip ahead to the cool fight scenes where she can describe how badass her character is.

Taiyang and Qrow (they're mostly here to support Ruby's interests and don't actually get what's going on but they have a great attitude and Ruby's patient with them) both individually saw 'Bard' and Taiyang saw 'well that looks fun, I can make up lil rhymes' and Qrow saw 'I can be a sex, drugs, rock-and-roll guy that's the epitome of cool' and drummed up a bard duo called where one is an aging punk rocker Tiefling based on all Qrow's fav emo bands as a twenty-year-old and Taiyang saw 'gold dragonborn' and blacked out. They both picked College of Eloquence because it looked easiest. Not much to say about why beyond 'parental support and really trying to understand their kid's interests' which is why Tai is the best parent in Antares and why Qrow- well, sometimes he hits the mark.

Weiss has no fuckin clue what any of this is aside from 'nerd stuff for plebians that I suppose I must join for team building'. Basic first options on the list, human fighter, basic stats, doesn't really get into it for a couple of sessions but once she twigs that the dice is like a numbers game it really catches her interest and she starts looking into it more. She snags Eldritch Knight as her path for access to spells and ends up having a good time. Its a microcosm of Weiss's 'defrosting ice queen' plotline. Once she gets into to she gets into it.

Blake actually read the players handbook for more than half a second and decided she wanted to be creative and have a bit of fun while also quickly making the connection that the party was very tanky, so she decided to create a Water Genasi Sorcerer with the path of Lunar Sorcery, since she thought the options it had were fun and she absolutely did extra reading to decide. Mostly this ties into Blake's early character of, though not looking like it, actually genuinely really wanting to get along with her friends while also rediscovering her interests. She also decides to play an optimist, just to try and have that bit of escapism she so desperately wants. Oh- play as a Tabaxi? No, why do you ask?

Onto JNPR, Jaune has the distinction of Acutally Having Knowledge of This, he strikes me as a 'oh I love D&D podcasts I've always wanted to play it'. His dicerolls are, obviously, fucking horrendous at all times, but he ends up playing as a dwarf paladin, I think, good ol Oath of Devotion. He just wants to do a bit of wish fulfilment as a hero, but he doesn't really push it to the point of being a pure 'must follow all the rules' type of paladin roleplay. He just wants to enjoy having friends and mostly tries to keep things chill at the table.

Pyrrha has no idea what she's doing either but she's trying really hard even though she can't wrap her head around any of it. She picked a Cleric because it seemed nice, she could be the party healer. Life domain, Ruby threw her a softball and said 'that's the healing one' and Pyrrha went 'yep'. She just wants to be a normal girl who plays games with a friend group and also be useful in a way that will keep them from ditching her. Gotta please everyone, and healing- it's nice. Useful. They'll invite her more to play.

Nora wants to be a barbarian too, specifically a Goliath with path of Wild Magic for the chaos because she wants to try derail the campaign like she heard about, but Ruby plays favourites with her sister and tells her to pick a new one so Nora goes sulking through the book again for something else, sees the words 'blood' and 'hunter' next to each other, and goes feral. Order of the Lycan is an instant follow-up. Race? Oh- yeah, still a Goliath. Nora just wants to fuck shit up and be with her friends, there's no underlying deeper character issues. Possibly height envy, maybe.

Ren, similarly to Blake, reads the handbook cover to cover, does his own research, and gets super into the idea of Roleplaying as well. However, he goes full 'how dark can I get away with' and creates a warlock, specifically with a Great Old One as patron. A haunted man, troubled by shadows and loss of the past long before being cursed with a treacherous deal that leads to the nightmares and madness of the present, desperately struggling to hold onto sanity as their patron eats a piece of their mind with every spell he casts. Yanno, standard Lovecraftian horror. Ren's really trying to be dramatic and hoping for a tragic end, where his character is twisted into the secret main villain, and Ruby thinks that would be really cool and is pushing for it if only the rest of the campaign wasn't trying to power of friendship this. Ren's just trying to lowkey work through some stuff, it's fine. It's totally fine. Oh- and he picked Pact of the Tome, he wants more cantrips.

Sun got invited along and was like 'gnome ranger lets fuckin go'. Epitome of 'holy shit I can have a pet dinosaur this game RULES' as a player. Mostly coasting on dice luck but can pull out one HELL of a bit of roleplay when he wants to. It's beautiful. He really wishes this campaign could go on forever, it's easier when the bad guys are just figurines on a table.

Penny is ready and waiting to play but she never gets the chance to join a session. Her schedule just doesn't line up, unfortunately. And she hasn't decided her class- she'll see what everyone else needs for an effective party balance first and then she'll pick one. So she doesn't get to pick a subclass. But she'd really like to give it a try if she could! She'd play a standard human character. No there's no other meaning in her wanting to be a human character when she could be something way more interesting, not at all.

Ruby offered to Sun to bring Emerald along for a session but Emerald said no. F in the chat for Emerald (one day).

ok ok i've been trying to think of a clever way to word this but it's thursday morning and my brain is usually scrambled eggs by this point of the week.

so basically. dc. batfam. jaykyle. i'm intrigued, and i'm curious about, like, starting points for beginners with terrible attention spans whose knowledge base is the first few seasons of the cw shows and young justice, your epic jaykyle post from whenever i asked about them, a handful of jaykyle fics, and the tags on your dc rbs.

(and OF COURSE i will inhale any other info you choose to share here bc i love a winter ramble <333)

I am SO GLAD you asked :]]]]] there's a great deal of info here but I'll try to keep it as organized as possible. I'll talk about movies/tv shows/other forms of media FIRST, since there's a lot less info to try and cram in. THEN I'll do comics because there's a lot of information about them, and lastly I'll do fandom stuff (blog and fic recs, and I also snuck in a bit about some of my favorite comic artists hehe) xox

the thing I love about dc is that there's so many characters and hero teams that there's something for everyone. my favorite characters might not be someone else's favorite, because there are literally hundreds to choose from and it can be overwhelming at first but it's so cool having such a wide variety of characters to love!!

that said, something to keep in mind is that almost every version of a character you see/read is gonna be a little different. there are changes across mediums (comics to movies) and even across universes, and sometimes the writers are just lazy and don't bother doing research on the character they're trying to write. many of these characters have been around since the 1930s, with literally thousands of appearances in different comics and tv shows, so they've been through a few hundred different writers and editors, each with a slightly different idea of who the character is. batman can be portrayed as a kind, caring father in one comic, but in another, he hits his kids and forces them to eat rats. those two facts are both technically canon, but since they're so contradictory to each other, the audience gets to choose which one is their canon*. it sounds really overwhelming at first, but it's actually one of my favorite things about dc, because it's almost like a sandbox. we can cherrypick our favorite things from canon to form our Better, Personal canon, and leave the rest out <3

*everyone you talk to in the fandom will also have a different preferred "canon." and technically most of them aren't even fanonizing things too much; they're just looking at a different side of canon.

MOVIES

unlike marvel, dc doesn't really have a coherent "cinematic universe," but not for lack of trying. if you're looking for comic book accuracy, generally the movies aren't a great place to go, but they're still enjoyable and can at least give you the starting information for a character!

the dark knight trilogy (batman begins, the dark knight, the dark knight rises)

this one is HARDLY comics-accurate, but overall they're very enjoyable (and the soundtrack is a whole VIBE btw). it's a good general intro to the basic lore of batman (his parents' deaths, alfred, lucius fox, etc) but it also leaves out a lot of the batman mythos (like robin).

the batman (2022)

in my opinion, this movie is the closest live action movie to what comics batman actually is. it was very definitely an adaptation that took liberties, but I really felt like it was a faithful adaptation of comics batman and what motivates him.

batman: under the red hood

this one is an animated adaptation of one of my FAVORITE comics of all time by the same name, and I love the movie almost as much as I love the comic :] there are a few things lost in translation from comic -> movie, and a few characters/events are left out, but overall it's one of my favorite batman movies of ALL time

some other movies that aren't super accurate but alright:*

wonder woman

*there's also movies like zack snyder's justice league and batman vs superman but the one thing comics fandom can agree on is that. they're bad. they're soooo bad. ofc you can watch them but just know that the characterizations are soooooo off base for pretty much everyone. and I know that I said that characterizations can be played with a little bit but the characters aren't even recognizable in those movies so like.....are they even the same character ?? anyway

TV SHOWS - ANIMATED

unlike the movies, the dcau (dc animated universe) is REALLY good. some of the shows are interconnected and happen in the same continuity, but it's unclear if all of them are, but the shows have little influence on each other so it doesn't really matter anyway. there'll just be an easter egg here or there referencing another show.

young justice*

has a very large ensemble cast, and is a good intro to the younger heroes in dc!!

justice league unlimited*

another show with a large cast, but this one is about the older/adult heroes in the justice league.

green lantern: the animated series

one of my personal favorites out of these; highly recommended if you're at all interested in lanterns, because it's a very good introduction to lantern lore (which can be pretty complicated). it's also just very fun all around, and one of my favorite lantern characters of all time is in this show! unfortunately, he was created specifically for gl:tas, and so hasn't made any appearances in any comics/shows with the exception of a single episode of young justice. but I lomve him <3

teen titans

this was actually my "gateway" media that got me into dc in the first place!! it's very fun and dynamic, and is a good intro to the titans, a very popular superhero team**

batman: the animated series

I haven't seen very far into this one, but from what I've seen/heard, it's a very fun show!! from what I remember, it has quite a few batfam characters in it, as well, not just batman himself

batman beyond

I also haven't seen all of this, but I like it a lot! it's set 50ish(?) years in the future of b:tas (as far as I know you don't have to watch b:tas beforehand though) and is about the new batman, terry mcginnis. I really like it because terry's super funny and it's almost like spiderman in batman's suit!! (he made the joker cry once. it's glorious)

*for getting into comics, I'd recommend at least skimming a few eps of these shows with large casts to see if you have a character you really like/want to know more about, then you can ask for/find the specific comics that character is in. this is imo the easiest way to get into comics, and there are a LOT of people you can ask for comic recs. I'll give all the recs I have, but I've been in the dc fandom for a long time and I can find specific rec lists for you fairly easily if you want to read about a character I don't know much about. I have Connections (tm)

**I haven't read enough titans comics to know for sure, but I've heard that the team lineups are a little different than the show depending on what comics you read.

it's kind of shitty but by god it's OUR kinda shitty show <3 the casting for both koriand'r and dick grayson is PERFECT btw. I cannot tell you anything about plot. I've seen the first few seasons. I have no idea what happened. (I don't think it'd be too far off the mark to call this the "teen wolf" show of dc tbh)

ismahawk's nightwing series

this is a fanmade web series that has a few things I dislike (jason's characterization, mostly) but is overall fairly high quality and very fun!! dick grayson (nightwing) is the focus, but other characters also make appearances!

cw shows (yes these are their own category)

I haven't seen a lot of these in a long time so some of them don't have commentary

arrow

hoooooo boy,,,,,,this one's a doozy. the writers wanted to make a batman show I think. but they had green arrow instead. so arrow!oliver queen is actually closer to comics!bruce wayne than he is to comics!oliver queen. a lot of people don't want to get into comics ollie because they didn't like arrow ollie, but rest assured that comics ollie is sooooooooo much better godbless

legends of tomorrow

most of the characters here aren't in the comics that much but this is still probably my favorite cw show. it's funky it's fun it's ridiculously stupid it requires net zero braincells. I love it

there are a lot of dc-related games out there that I've never gotten into, but there is one that I know a good deal about because it's soooo <333

batman: arkham knight

this one is an alternate universe version of jason todd's death and resurrection. I think there are also some comics out there set in this same universe, but at the moment I don't know titles. but basically, instead of dying in a warehouse, jason was imprisoned and tortured for 2 years by the joker. the details are lost on me but he somehow ends up free, but by this point he's been tortured and brainwashed into working with the joker and trying to bring batman down. overall it's a very emotionally devastating game and I'm a known masochist <3 so <3

COMICS

a lot of people are afraid to get into comics because of how overwhelming they are, but I highly encourage it to any new dc fan because they're so much fun!! the fandom is also filled with super nice people who are totally willing to help find comics to read for a specific character, and there are plenty of websites to read comics on for free! it's genuinely such a fun media to get into!

first of all, there's some vocab that'll be helpful to know in comics-land:

continuity - refers to a specific amount of time within the publishing record (ex: the new52 is a continuity spanning from about 2011 to 2016)

issue - a "chapter" of a comic book series (ex: green lantern #5 is the 5th chapter of that particular green lantern series)

volume - another word for "series"; also defined as a group of issues

mini-series - a comic with a set amount of issues (also known as a limited series)

one-shot - a big single-issue comic book

ongoing - a series that is currently being written/published (usually updates weekly or biweekly)

reboot - ends a continuity to recreate characters and plotlines from the very beginning (there are a few different reboots you might hear mentioned, including crisis on infinite earths, new52 [or n52], and rebirth)

retcon - when a past event is changed/written over without a reboot happening

run - a consecutive string of issues written by a single author

variant - an alternate cover of an issue

elseworld - a comic or story that takes place in an alternate universe; as such, the events of that story have no effect on the main timeline (dc vs vampires, a story where half the justice league is turned into evil vampires that took over the world and killed the other half of the justice league, is an elseworld). I like elseworlds because they're fun to explore and read without actually like. being concerned about long-term effects on the characters. it's like reading fanfiction with art

comics are also broken down into 4 main "eras" that aren't necessary for reading but can be good to know regardless:

Golden Age (1938-1956)

Silver Age (1956-1970)

Bronze Age (1970-1985)

Modern Age (1985-Present Day)

because comics are so convoluted with so many timelines and reboots and origins, you can really just jump in ANYWHERE, without worrying about chronological order (spoiler alert, it doesn't exist); and if you feel daunted and overwhelmed by the idea of just....jumping in there, don't worry!!! I felt the same exact way when I was just starting, and that's what the reading lists linked below are for!! they'll give you a place to start getting your feet wet :]

dc comics can also be grouped by which teams/families they're about. (as far as I know, the [hero]fam groups were coined by fandom as a means of grouping the literal crime fighting found families together, but groups like the titans and justice league actually exist in-universe as well). most (if not all) characters belong to at least ONE group, so if you like a character and want to get into someone similar, the groups that character is in might be a good place to start since they're usually grouped together by similar powers/origins. I listed the [hero]fam groups first, and the canon, in-universe teams last. I don't know much about some of them so I didn't add commentary on those, and each person's name will be formatted like this: given name/superhero name/additional superhero name (if applicable)

batfam

most main continuities include bruce wayne/batman, dick grayson/robin/nightwing, jason todd/robin/red hood, tim drake/red robin/robin, cassandra cain/black bat/orphan/batgirl, damian wayne/robin, alfred pennyworth, stephanie brown/batgirl/robin/spoiler, duke thomas/signal*, and barbara gordon/batgirl/oracle. however, some characters, such as luke fox, helena wayne, carrie kelley, and harper row, only exist in specific timelines/continuities/alternate universes. *duke thomas was created in the n52 reboot, so he didn't exist before about 2011, but is considered part of the batfam in most current timelines. the batfam is largely a pretty messy, dysfunctional superhero family, and I love that about them because it's sooo interesting to dig into. but if you want a wholesome superhero family, I suggest some of the others in dc (there's a large number of people in the dc fandom who have never read a single comic but write fic/blog about the batfam, but they make the batfam super sweet and wholesome [hugely ooc for the most part] when there are SO many canon superhero fams that have the exact vibes they're going for. basically: fanon batfam = canon arrowfam/flashfam/superfam)

superfam

most main continuities include clark kent/superman (kal el), lois lane, conner kent/superboy (kon el), bizarro, and jonathan kent/superboy (jon el). I don't know as much about the superfam but there are a handful of characters that only exist in certain continuities here, too.

flashfam

most main continuities include barry allen/the flash, iris west-allen, wally west/kid flash/the flash, jay garrick, avery ho/the flash, bart allen/impulse, irey west, jesse quick/jesse chambers, and a few more.

arrowfam

most main continuities include oliver queen/green arrow, dinah lance/black canary, roy harper/speedy/red arrow/arsenal, connor hawke/green arrow, cissie king-jones, mia dearden/speedy, and emiko queen/red arrow. (if you've seen arrow, expect these characters to be WAY different than how they were portrayed in the show)

wonderfam

most main continuities include diana prince/wonder woman, nubia, donna troy/wonder girl/troia/wonder woman, cassie sandsmark/wonder girl, and artemis bana-mighdall. yara flor is wonder woman in the future state universe, but I don't know if she's part of the fam in the main continuity

lanternfam

this can technically refer to any number of lantern groups, since there are more than one faction or "corps" of lantern, but in this case it's green. in most continuities, the green lantern corps includes hal jordan/parallax/specter, kyle rayner/white lantern/ion, guy gardner, john stewart, alan scott, simon baz, jessica cruz, and jo mullein. (all of them go by green lantern by default, but some have additional names for one reason or another) there are a lot more nonhuman lanterns, since green lanterns operate in space, but that's already a pretty extensive list so I just left it at the humans lmao

aquafam

justice league

one of the biggest teams in dc; it has the "trinity," batman, superman, and wonder woman, and also has a lot of lesser known characters like blue beetle, booster gold, and red tornado.

titans

this team includes dick grayson/nightwing (batfam), wally west/kid flash/the flash (flashfam)*, garfield logan/beast boy, koriand'r/starfire, donna troy/wonder girl/wonder woman, roy harper/speedy/arsenal/red arrow, garth/aqualad etc. *the team lineup largely depends on which comic you read; wally isn't a titan very often compared to the others but some still consider him part of the core team

young justice*

this team includes tim drake/red robin/robin, cassie sandsmark/wonder girl, conner kent/superboy, and bart allen/impulse *not to be confused with the tv show young justice. they have the same title but are two completely different things

funky and fun! if you want to learn more about the batfam both as a group and as individuals, this is a great place to start!* *this specific webtoon is in the "slice of life" genre and intended to be fun and lighthearted, so all the characters are highly fanonized/watered down to fit the comedy genre better. it's still enjoyable, but just know going in that if you read any actual comics with the batfam expecting it to be just as wholesome and fun, you'll be disappointed. and if you do enjoy the wholesome superhero family vibes, I recommend reading from the flashfam, arrowfam, or superfam comics, since those are all closer to the wfa batfam vibe than the canon comics batfam.

red hood: outlaws**

features jason todd/red hood, bizarro, and artemis bana-mighdall. as far as I know its tone is much closer to actual comics than wfa. the art is gorgeous, too

**I haven't read past the first few chapters of this one because I REALLY don't like jason's characterization. but he's my silly little guy and I'm SUPER picky about how he's written, so take my opinion for a grain lmao

now for some general recs!!!! there are reading lists out there that are much more coherent and legible than what I can make, so I linked a few for my personal favorite characters and some others :] some of them have a playlist that I made, and I'll also give a very brief overview of the character!!!

also note that these reading lists are in no way meant to be overwhelming and restrictive. if you're overwhelmed by the sheer amount of recs, there's no rule or Comic Book Overlord who will frown down upon you if you don't read them in order or even at all. comics are meant to be fun and they should be!! all the lists do is give you a few options/places to start, but they're just suggestions!! literally go wild go crazy

he's the oldest son of bruce wayne! he was part of a traveling circus as a kid, but his parents were murdered when he was young and he was taken in by bruce wayne and became robin. he joined the titans, and eventually outgrew the robin mantle and took on the name nightwing. my current favorite comic with him is batman/superman: world's finest, which is on the reading list but it's pretty far down and I would have put it much higher if it were me because it's sooo <333 (dan mora's art is *chef's kiss*) I looked EVERYWHERE for a reading list about him as nightwing but unfortunately I couldn't find one. but there are a few "nightwing" series around which will probably be good places to start.

the only one of bruce wayne's kids who is actually biologically related to him. he was raised in the league of assassins by talia al ghul* before being sent to gotham to live with bruce, where he became robin *talia was originally a good, kind character who was retconned into a manipulative, abusive bitch of a character which is SUCH a disservice to her but unfortunately a lot of current comics have jumped on the bandwagon of the retcon :( AGAIN, I couldn't find a rec list for the LIFE of me, but some good comics to start at are batman: batman and son, batman and robin 2006*, and supersons** *this comic takes place after bruce wayne temporarily "dies" during....final crisis, I think. you don't need to understand the crisis to read (I still don't understand any of the crises tbh) but all you need to know is that dick grayson has taken on the mantle of batman during this run; so dick was batman and damian was his robin. I love their relationship so much it makes me INSANE **this comic features a teamup between damian and jon kent (superboy). I looooooooove their friendship so much

Hello! So I know you aren’t a big fan of the kids ships but since it’s gonna be pretty much canon that both El and Will have feelings for Mike, what do you make of their respective relationships with him?

Hmmm.... I really don't know. :/ I guess I will ramble my thoughts in this very post and see what my heart says. I'll try not to complain, I promise.

To start off with, I watched season 1 and season 2 together innnn... 2017? Whenever season 2 came out. I hadn't heard of Stranger Things until then and then my mom and I decided to binge it together. Needless to say were were pretty surprised. I wanted to give this context because I was not in the fandom from the getgo, I was about a year and a half late.

By the time I got here, I feel like most people were already in their corners, but there didn't seem to be as much conflict back then as there is now. But that could just be me being oblivious. I don't read analysis on ships so if people have analyzed stuff about them, I wouldn't know. The ships are the last thing I think about when ranting about theories.

I'd also just like to get out of the way, I didn't really care for most of the kid ships until recently because well, they're kids. Their first loves, first relationships. They're bound to make mistakes and screw up. We've all been awkward teens so I have the upmost sympathy for all of them. I think it's immature to come down too harshly on any of them for silly reasons like this.

This season, Lumax has brought on the maturity I've been looking forward to and they are precious. So if there's a "kid ship" I ship now, it's them.

So onto the ships I suppose

Mike and El

They were obviously leading into this for season 1 at least so I wasn't surprised. I kinda didn't like that Mike just.. .kissed her you know. She didn't even know what a boyfriend or anything was. But again, he's just a kid himself so eh. Overall, it was sweet.

Um... I suppose I really really feel it from El's side especially. Mike was the first person in the scary outside world to be kind to her, gave her a safe place and everything. And in her own way, she felt obligated to repay his kindness and keep him safe from the "badmen" (refusing to let them tell his parents or they might get shot). She adores him and what he's done for her.

A part of me feels like it was initially too formulaic. The "fish out of water falls in love with the first man she sees" trope but I also feel like it's not that bad since it's not like Mike is a bad person or anything. He's legitimately a good guy so she lucked out on that one. If she didn't like him, she was fully capable of running again, especially back in season 1 (which she did for a split second)

She's also come in contact with many different boys and girls at this point so I'm sure it's not a matter of lack of options either, probably. She really likes Mike. So there's that.

Mike, lately... seems weirdly obsessed. It could be his fear of losing her, pretty sure he said that before, but he's gotta learn to rein it in. And it's a weird kind of obsessed to. Like obsessed enough to drop everything and everyone else to be with her and only her, but also not obsessed enough to tell her everything or that you love her? Teenagers make no sense.

But hey, I'm a lady who has never been in love or attracted to anyone so maybe this is just normal behavior for teenage boys sometimes, especially ones that are traumatized from a young age like he is.

Maybe there's a bit too much co-dependency that they'll have to work through if they ever hope to move past this hump they keep finding themselves in if that's even possible. Maybe they are too different or want different things? I dunno.

Mike and Will

Much like with Mike and El, I've also thought Mike and Will are sweet. Mike can be a very caring and honest person and very reliable. Will and El can be so timid, so I'm not surprised they both end up leaning on Mike who is not as timid and can be hot headed and take action to protect the people he cares about.

It gets really tricky here for me because without a doubt, I've never considered Will to be straight and it's clear Mike and Will have a very special relationship. But Mike... I dunno if the feelings go both ways.

Will really seems to adore Mike as friends and obviously in a romantic way too. But it very much bothers me that it gets ignored by Mike himself. You know? Maybe season 4 will address this but if I were Will, it would hurt me deep down that my friend and crush will only acknowledge me when his girlfriend has blown him off. Of only if he can actually see how upset I am after already trying to interact more civilly. I had a similar situation in middle school. In my case, it was platonic, but by best friend at the time ditched me to do some things with a guy. I didn't find out till later when she told me, but I was pretty sad about it and didn't say anything.

From Mike's side, I don't know what to make of it. Like I said, this constant trend of blowing Will off for his love life is pretty bothersome whether he considers Will just his friend or secretly likes him.

I don't really know what Mike feels regarding Will, definitely cares about him... but not enough to keep in touch properly? Or to play dnd one time out of the whole summer? Or talk to him at all for a whole day when he gets to California? I don't get his deal at all.

Mike is feeling a certain way towards Will for sure but I don't know what it is. It felt kinda hostile but I don't know why that would be. Maybe not hostile, but blasé? If they writers are intending to have Mike questioning his feelings regarding Will in the romantic sense, I don't like how they're doing it and shippers should push for better secret pining.

Like, we KNOW Will is pining because of all the looks and secret glances. I might've missed them, but I didn't see any slow camera pans of Mike staring wistfully at Will like they've been doing for Will lately.

I don't know if I actually should add the game's tag to this

My thoughts are usually born being inspired by some media but they can kinda elevate into original stuff

Sometimes I have OCs that can be transfered anywhere, which sometimes happens

Anyway

I had some thoughts on my way to work today

I've been really into Fire Emblem lately, especially Engage, also starting to get into Awakening, planning on trying out other games

So I made up some OCs for Engage

Weird unfinished thoughts but it's how it happens in my mind

Can be called an AU prob

Also I'm still playing the game so don't know everything yet

But know who's Alear's dad is

Like, it's some AU (probably?) where Lumera had a child but then adopted Alear and sad this one is her child while the original kid was hidden away

(It's gonna be funny if Alear is actually adopted lmao)

And since Veyle has a stone that will break if Alear is dead my brain gave this idea that Lumera gave a similar stone to her kid so that they know if something happened to her

I don't have kid's name and have only an approximate appearance of the male version (yeah, the gender is the same as Alear's) but they are here, in my head

Prob won't be given name, I rarely give names to the characters in my head

So Alear at some point of story stumbles upon them, on deserted set of islands with ancient ruins, completely abandoned for some reason, because there is some rumored item that can aid Alear

Thought about a ring but dunno who's (pick your fave character that is not in a ring?)

The kid (okay, not really a kid in age, but just it's their name for now) happily joins Alear

Like they accept their step sibling even not knowing too much about them

Here comes my problem with transferring my thoughts outside

Lumera never loved fer actual child much, but cared, the kid knew it of course, it saddened them but they accepted it, then Alear came and the kid was sent away, they never blamed mother

This experience brought something good to their life

While living in the ruins the kid was alone but they were pretty much used to it, from time to time they wentured to where people live disguised as some animal

At some point they found young man/woman (again depends on the Alear gender lmao), they were also alone but also in danger, the kid helped them out and managed to take that person with them through persuasion

And thus they lived around each other, still giving some space but like there are whole islands theirs, they ended up groving very close to each other, even romantically

Uh, they joined the kid when they joined Alear, don't want to leave them alone

I have an idea of a guy, even name, but yet to imagine a girl, haha

So if Alear is male this character is also male (I'm sorry, I can't think straight), his name is Sebastian, his place of birth is unknown but it was destroyed long time ago so he's been on his own since childhood, also was an orphan who everyone hated even before the tragedy struck, he's mute, pretty high and fit (? some muscles), with long curly brown hair, hmmm, maybe tanned? (please help me find a better word, I'm sorry, English is not my native language and I'm a dummy), also pretty androgynous, tbh they're both androgynous

They're kinda similar to each other, but the kid is softer and kinder, Seb is pretty sharp

They pretty much stay away from everyone, not eager to get into contact

short answer: yes.

long answer: this is gonna make me sound crazy, but whatever fjsldkfjsdlfkj i used to be able to see spirits and entities as a young kid, but i don't anymore as much. i do still have occasional experiences, like hearing or feeling things and occasionally (read: rarely) seeing them. it's not always spirits, though; sometimes i just sense residual emotions and feelings that are left behind from really impactful events that caused a lot of strong emotions. i can sense living people's energies as well, and can't always tell if what i'm feeling is a dead or living person. when i moved into my last apartment, for weeks i felt just this nasty, negative feeling from somewhere in my building, and i was wondering if it was haunted, but then after a few weeks i met my upstairs neighbours, and the husband was a massive douche. they were preparing to separate, and lo and behold, once he moved out, the feeling was gone. i know it's not stuff my brain is making up because other people have been able to confirm that either they also experience things when they're around me, or that what i'm saying has some kind of proof (i.e. a place i was in that had a really bad feeling was the site of a battle, and later a pow camp, a woman i talked to when i was 4 and told that a little boy was walking behind her had lost a son a few years before, the man i saw walk into the back room at my great-grandma's house and then disappear turned out to be my great-grandfather, who i never met and had never seen pictures of until after the fact).

HC question: How would Control characters take care of a toddler?

I was gonna say toddler was like, 2-4, but google says its 1-2 year olds? I dispute this dsfjhskdjfh let's put that age range at 2-3

Trench is great with kids in my mind. He's sat there just watching the kid play pretend or move their toys around, occasionally adding quiet comments or answering questions (usually with a "yeah?" or "oh, I see" to blabs he can't understand). He's just very calm and seems a bit tired but really doesn't mind. Will carry them around and get them pre-made snacks from the fridge and stuff. He just has those perpetual ":/" vibes attached to him skejfhsjehf but he's soft

Darling wants to be good with kids but isn't super sure what he's doing and is trying anyway! He tries giving the kid stuff to do for 6 or 7 year olds, which is at least a bit better than babying the kid, but doesn't quite get how all to help. Doing a good job keeping up with them though! Until he suddenly isn't and is just exhausted wiped out. Would probably let the kid get into stuff they shouldnt and go "ah its fine, I'm here! I'm watching!" [kid is standing up on the table throwing things]

Marshall is a lot like Trench but more content to just sit and watch. She has her eye on the kid and makes sure they don't get into anything they shouldn't and just lets them play and keeps them corralled to one play area. Lets the kid come sit next to her once they're wore out and look at picture books until they fall asleep. Is not afraid to use more adult language around kids kjsehfkjshf

Jesse feels out of her depth and a bit anxious to look after a kid, honestly. She would rather someone else come help or do this and feels pretty awkward at first, but by the end of it shes handling it all like a champ. Probably reads to them or makes up stories or builds blocks with them. Doesn't always know how to respond to questions or kid humor but that literally never stops kids. If she could use her powers she'd probably have to just sit there and entertain them with little party tricks once the kids learned kjdshfjsdhf but I think she'd enjoy that

Dylan oh this depends so much. I think his patience at times can be really low, but I also think kids this young wouldn't be too off-put by him. Low patience for being climbed around on or too much loud noise, but something in him aches watching kids just run around and play, and would definitely be willing to just sit there on the floor and listen to them make stuff up or build stuff with them. Will end up in that feedback loop where kid brings him a book, he reads it, kid instantly grabs another book and brings it to him, repeat. Would not want to be doing this and probably uses language and tones he shouldn't and would need frequent breaks or just someone there to help him, but would overall be trustworthy and pretty decent with the right kid. In a non-FBC, non-hiss world, he'd be great with kids. Gentle yet snarky dude.

Emily looked up some specific activities or tips to do and is following those and adjusting on the fly sekjhfjksehf keeps a pretty neat schedule for the kid and generally just has like... teacher/worker vibes, I suppose? Like less like you're being babysat by a friend or young adult and more like she's a fancy daycare worker following a structured routine. Has music playing and mostly lets the kid play themselves, watching and sometimes adding comments. She overall would rather not watch kids but she's not bad at it at all.

Arish defo watched plenty of kids in his time, talks to the kid very casually ("no way that's your car??? can you make it go super fast on the ground?? let me see!") and will join in their games or pick them up and toss them around and chase them and stuff. Will joke around a bunch and do the like "uncle" thing where he sneaks the kid desserts or shows them stuff they aren't usually allowed to watch or play

Langston not used to kids at all but trying his best! Which is completely out of his depth! Hey kid please don't touch that, no you can't play with the cat like that they don't like that, uhhhh do you want some tea to drink? It's my new jazz album don't you like it? Jazz is good for babies right? Oh you-- you say you're not a baby-- that's fair. I-- I guess you can flip through this book with pictures? uh--

Underhill like your strict aunt who seems really scary but after the third trip to her place you realize she's actually pretty funny and nice, she just comes off like that. She really would rather not be watching this kid and she makes it clear but she's good at it. Makes good snacks and repeatedly asks the kid to use their inside voice and play in a specific little play area

Alright it's been like. A while in the making but here's a better post about an idea for

A Miraculous Fullmetal Alchemist Au

Now I've watched both versions, read the manga, all and everything cause I love this series more than almost anything, and some things don't transfer well cause. That's how things work sometimes. But I'll do my best to explain things going on. If at any time anything isn't clear or it's confusing shoot me an ask and I'll try to clear it up

Anyways lets get to some of the stuff

So our main focus is on the Couffaine family. Anarka raising her two kids as a single mom in the countryside, just having a lovely life. She's just chilling until oh no one day she does rip-

And Luka and Juleka are pretty young, probably like 10 and 9. They're both just beginning to understand Alchemy and I'll explain that in a second, but without their Ma all that they have left is her shitty ex husband and they don't wanna go with him

So alchemy is. How to explain it. Turning stuff into other stuff. With like science magic. And circles. But like the exchange has to be equivalent. That part is important

So since our two young budding alchemists really want their mom back, and are young and stupid, they decide to break one of the cardinal rules of Alchemy by trying to use alchemy to bring Anarka back to life

But Oh No it goes horribly wrong, because truly, what is the equivalent of a human life? Not only is it not Anarka or even human that they created, but Luka's entire body was taken, as was Juleka's arm and leg

Little Juleka managed to tie her brother's soul to a nearby suit of armour to save part of him, sobbing that she didn't want to be alone

Someone reported the strange noises from their home and one of the military officers that was in town for a little goes over to check on it and finds one sobbing, bleeding child in a shed, with a sentient, panicking suit of armour with the voice of a little boy

That man was Alim Kubdel. He rushes Juleka to medical attention and ends up taking them in. His wife was an Alchemist, as is his oldest son, so he knows what he's getting into. Kinda

His daughter Alix is Juleka's age, and is an assistant at an "automail" shop. Automail is like, mechanic prosthetics. So Juleka gets cool metal limbs and Alix helps keep them in good shape

Jalil joins the military as a "state alchemist", who are alchemists on military payroll that basically do what the military want in exchange for the classic money and lodgings and shit. They're often called dogs of the military

As the siblings grow up they leave for a spell to learn from an alchemy teacher who knew their ma. This is Caline. She and Anarka were gonna get married when they were younger and Caline wanted to be able to have a kid with her and, well, tried to alchemy it up. Didn't work. Relationship failed out of the stress from it all

Years pass, and Juleka applies for the State Alchemist exams and passes woo! Now with her military money and access to all their libraries, her and Luka are on the quest to get their real bodies back

They meet lots of friends along the way and Alix is never far behind with her own little arc of hating the military, and they learn almost too much about their country and whoops now they're part of a plot to save everyone

Ok so I have been in the interest area for some time

And I may have gotten interested in several Draculas

Here is a list of who I have on team:

5. Bram Stoker's Dracula

I mean come on, Gary Oldman in late Victorian era suits is just extremely handsome. The warrior that became a vampire: seductive, cruel, very nice when in love.

They were quite very bold when they named the movie "Bram Stoker's Dracula" to be honest - like, yes, it is very evident that they followed the author, but decided to add a more romantic plot with some Victorian sensuality. My personal opinion - they tried too hard: they wanted to fit their own storyline of Mina x Dracula love to the original Stoker story, while keeping up at least in the beginning to the author's stile of reading diaries and switching POVs in 2 hours of screentime - it did not go as smoothly as one might have wished, the time is obviously not enough, the story and character relationships are a bit rushed. Besides some characters were well... Lucy's lovers are a bit dumb - far worse than they were in the book and Lucy - ok I get it, you wanted to add eroticism, but not like that!!

In general not so bad. I like it, feels like a nice interpretation.

4. Netflix Dracula

Well, the storyline began as if it could have been Bram Stoker's, but proved to be very different from the original quite quickly. Another nice interpretation. Van Helsing is a female and a nun - that's quite an interesting change. (Seriously, I love the character, she's a big mood.)The modern versions of characters in 3rd episode seemed kinda cool too

Absolutely loved the idea of Dracula absorbing the memories and knowledge with blood, it's really cool. ( Can I please be a vampire too? I really need that for my studies!)

Claes Bang portrayal of the vampire seemed very impressive. Loved it - didn't expect to but loved it - it was the first Dracula movie I watched and it left me under a spell.

Plus the human-eating irony - Hannibal Lecter would have shook Dracula's hand for that, those two have a common sense of humour and aesthetic.

As with the previous one, I enjoyed the interpretation quite a lot.

3. Van Helsing

Well, in that one.

The story has almost nothing to do with the book, doesn't even try to, but the plot they made is exciting - the ancients old enemies concept and all that stuff. The gothic Transylvania/Budapest/Paris/wherever else they were depiction is lovely - it gives the viewer this sense of darkly beautiful atmosphere of vampire stories; soundtrack adds to the picture nicely.

Characters, well... Anna is cool if you look at her in terms of personal - keep up the family values and stuff. BUT a young lady wearing tight trousers in 19th century, are you kidding me??? I'm sorry, but that weirded me out a bit. Same with that moment when "oh I fell five meters and before that soaked under rain, look at my perfectly soft curls" - the female characters in that movie are a bit overly fancy for the time and the action genre - same with Dracula's brides, they're kind of cute, love their babies and Dracula, but why on Earth are they always half-naked?

Van Helsing has a bit of a younger and sadder Mad-Eye Moody vibe. "I kill monsters, although I do pity the humans that sit inside of them. These things need to die" - that kind of person. Hugh Jackman plays him nicely, I felt him very fit for the role - he and Dracula are basically what really saves the film and makes it interesting.

Dracula here is just.. I mean aw. He's hot. He's got a nice accent, he turns into some flying half bat thing that looks hella cool, and he removes his cape in such an extremely graceful gesture that it makes one faint. Love that guy.

(+ the ballroom dance scene was very sensual and gothic, it was one of the reasons I started watching the movie)

2. Dracula Untold

The story of medieval Dracula and how he came to be a vampire - to protect his people and his family. Politics, love, monsters and broken dates. That movie has a great plot and some points which make you stop and wonder (oh do I love the quotes of those "sometimes the world doesn't need another hero, sometimes what it needs is a monster" and of that sort, just beautiful)

It is kind of tragic, but it has a bright side to it, I am extremely grateful to the authors for what they did to the ending.

And Dracula himself well... Luke Evans is just gorgeous in the role. The ultimate strong warrior vampire - a monster to his enemies and a loving husband and father to his family. Dracula redeemed. This one is sweet.

1. Castlevania

Aaaand here we go on my favourite one. If you don't mind watching anime and you love vampires/gothic stuff - you're probably gonna enjoy this. I did. I loved it: the plot, the characters, their relationship, the whole concept of the vampire community and Dracula the vampire King, their motivations. It's catching, it's mesmerizing, it charmed and drew me in (read: I cried and wailed together with my friend, this left me a trauma, I had to write a big fanfic to make up for the pain).

Main characters - Adrian, Sypha and Tevor are a bit Ron, Harry and Hermione but they are a lovely trio, I love the tension between Trevor and Adrian. Very loveable characters, and I dare say quite well written.

And, well, Dracula. Excuse me, this one is my personal favourite. I mean - a beautiful castle, that is moved by some cool mechanisms to wherever Dracula pleases, an enormous library with all the forgotten knowledge of the world. Dracula himself is extremely well-educated, well-mannered, THE gentleman (and yeah well 8ft tall but let's skip that bit). I love that character he is in so much pain I want to hug him and cuddle him into warm blankets. He is a sweetheart.

So that was a short attempt of a person who is terrible at criticizing stuff to write some film reviews. In case anyone is interested. And for me to reassemble my journey into the vampire world.

Obey me characters react to Mc waking up a young child! Quiet and obedient.

Lucifer

"Mc are you planning to hide in your room all morni-" Stares at little mc who looks scared and confused. Kneels in front and carries them to his room. Oh Diavolo the brothers are gonna be a handful.Doesn't let you out if his sight for a moment devildom is way too dangerous especially a human kid.

"Why are they so quiet and mannered? Are all humans like this? Why do you seem scared to talk? What do you want hungry? Tired? Thirsty? Say something dammit!" You'd only smile. He takes pictures of you a LOT.

You stick to his side at a safe distance. Quiet unless you need something not want,but need. Has to ask you if your hungry only for you to shake your head no.

If he finds you crying he'll wipe the tears, and say your fine. He give you a piece of candy to make you feel better.

Constanly had to get you back from the brothers. Lets you stay in his room while he's working. You like to hide in his coat and play with the fur. He doesn't mind it he actually finds it adorable but would never admit it.

He brings you with him to the Demon Lords Castle. You surprised them at first when you popped out of the jacket and yelled boo!

"They're adorable!!"

Mammon

Oi human! Why are you so small?! You tired not to cry while he shouted at you as you backed away. "Oh no don't cry! I'm not a bad guy see! He does a funny face making you laugh before swooping you up in a big hug.

Tries to keep you away from the brothers. He's usually carrying you on his back or holding you on his arm. He's the one who gets you to misbehave a little. If you both get caught your first to apologize, and tell the truth. While mammon whines about you being a traitor.

Takes you shopping for toys and anything fun.

Leviathan

"N-normie so a-adorable." He can't contain it your normie tactics. He takes you to his room, and tells you all about TSL again. You listen with bright eyes as you ask him more questions. He would watch anime, and you'd climb into his lap and watch with him.

He'd dress you up in different cosplays. You'd tell him constantly how great it is. When he turns into his demon form your first is to grab his tail. He'll freeze only to pick you up and cuddle you

He has a tank so when he's in his serpent form he'll put you on his back and splash around. Or just let you float on his back

Satan

Will read to you in his library. Any book you wanted. Of you wanted to read by yourself you'd find a place next to his chair and make a pallet for yourself.

Would get worried if he can't find you. He'd go full wrath if you were bo where to be found and would unleash it if it turns out mammon or lucifer stole you.

Would take you to play with the cats in the garden. You help him feed and lay out milk for the cats. If you ask nicely he'll let you touch his horns. He lobes it when you call him tantan when you meet him.

Threatens every demon who looks at you

Asmodeus

"Makeover!!!!" You weren't as excited but you're to young to deny. You tried to do your make up by yourself and it was all over your face. You were so happy you wanted to show him immediately. He was so shocked mainly scared but he saw how happy you were, and did his best to let it be telling you how amazing it was. Of course he said how to do it right and that you were beautiful no matter what. He dressed you up head to toe woth makeup and bows.

Tons of selfies for devilgram! He'd make you look amazing no matter what. He'd teach you about knowing your worth. And boost your confidence. Telling you to take no crap from anyone!

"Shine brighter than the stars because you can!" He buys you everything beautiful and does your makeup and hair.

Never lets a demon talk bad about you if they do they die. Of course you never see it. He gives you cute nick names and watch you sleep on his bed. You ask for frequent sleep overs.

Beelzebub

Was absolutely terrified of him because how big and tall he was. You cried for an hour everytime he approaches and ran to Belphie. Beel would give you sweets and talk to you softly to bot be afraid.

When you weren't afraid you were stuck to him like glue. You wouldn't leave his side no matter what and gor upset when you couldnt be near.

He was afraid to pick you up so you'd constantly jump off the bed cause you'd know he'd catch you. You'd refuse to let go. You'd climb on his back or play with his hair

You'd be with him when he'd work out. You'd stand on his back for mor weight of you'd try to work out with him. You'd try your hardest to hit the punching bag as hard as him, but ended up hurting your hand

He'd give you food or treats whenever he goes to eat which was a lot. If you couldn't eat it you'd stuff it under your bed to hide from Lucifer.

Belphegor

Calls him belphie everytime you see him. You'd run to him and hug his leg,and sometimes he'd pick you up.

Always with him or beel. You'd braided belphies hair and put clips in beels. Draws belphie and beels with hearts. Belphie would keep them in a little box with " mc" carved into it.

Sings you a song whenever you can't sleep and gives You sweet dreams. He'd sleep after you to make sure you're comfortable. You like it when he's in his demon form because you like to sleep with his tail. He'd curl his tail around you and hold you close.

If one of the brothers dared to wake you he'd growl and cover you protectively. Careful not to wake you but a deadly threat for them. He'd play with you a lot but you'd both have constant naps.
