13 Books Tag Game
Tagged by @bubblegum-blackwood
1) The last book I read:
Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros - I absolutely devoured this sequel, omg. Obviously it’s nothing fancy or anything like that but hey what’s wrong with a smutty YA? Not to mention DRAGONS
2) A book I recommend:
Perfume by Patrick Süskind - when I read it I had no idea it was a whole entire modern classic, I just picked it up at Oxfam for like 3 for £1 or something but, wow, I can 100% understand how it earned that status! If you like an eery not-too-long horror story with the most beautiful imagery describing some fucked up gothic storylines and a lot of social commentary, you’ll love this book!
3) A book that I couldn’t put down:
Ahhh ok, im gonna say In Memoriam by Alice Winn. The ending was… idk I wasn’t really a fan of the ending, I thought it kind of disengaged and took away from the struggles and severity of war and sexuality the rest of the book portrayed but until that point the rest of the story was everythingggg, there’s a sweet forbidden romance/coming of age/found family in the 1910’s propelling into a story of the horror of WW1 and losing everything you know. All I can really say is that I read it all in one go (more or less) and it had me laughing and sobbing throughout
4) A book I’ve read twice (or more):
I mean… there’s an obvious choice here - The Picture Of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. HOWEVER I’m going to absolutely cheat and also say Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë, the drama, the trauma, the vast majority of these characters are awful and I love it 🤌🤌
5) A book on my TBR:
So many… so so many… I’m gonna say House Of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski tho because it was expensive and it’s cool looking and I’ve actually been meaning to read that for a while but boy howdy it’s huge
6) A book I’ve put down:
The Tale Of The Body Thief by Anne Rice UGHH I’m trying so hard!! It’s so many words with so little going on, and I do enjoy it, I really do, it’s so goofy, but it’s so.. i mean verbose isn’t really quite the right word but you know what I mean. Sorry mutuals :( I just need a break to read something short and silly - which I’ve almost finished the little series I’m currently reading
7) A book on my wish list:
Prophet Song by Paul Lynch - it sounds absolutely soul crushing and miserable, I know this completely contradicts what I just said about being in the mood for a silly read but <333
8) A favorite book from childhood:
Omg 10000x the Skulduggery Pleasant series by Derek Landy, guys you don’t understand, as much as I would love to talk about how my mum and I used to sit and read Anne Of Green Gables before bed or my Enid Blyton obsession when I was like 6, Skulduggery Pleasant was my absolute jam - I must’ve read that series (the original 9 + spin offs) a million times in primary school. I did keep up with phase 2 when that was coming out but I don’t know if I’ll bother with phase 3, I’m just too old now and phase 2 wasn’t all that imo - I think it’s sort of beating a dead horse at this point :( but the original 9 and Maleficent Seven/Armageddon Outta Here were my childhood and I definitely absorbed Valkyrie Cain into my identity as a child so that series probably shaped a big part of who I am and my hobbies as an adult
9) A book you would give to a friend:
Love On The Brain by Ali Hazelwood. Silly, nerdy, fun, a cute little Pride and Prejudice-esque enemies to lovers feat. women in STEM
10) A book of poetry or lyrics that you own:
Ok so anyone who’s seen my other poetry blog @apoemadaykeepsthehoesaway knows my obsession with The Complete Poems of Wilfred Owen (I have a lot of difference versions) AHHH by far my favourite poet - as you can imagine with such a young man, you can clearly see his changing mentalities, his growth as a person and a writer, his influences, and really gather a lot of context for what’s going on with him in general through his poems. And he grew up in all the same areas I grew up in and hung around as a kid/younger teen, which I think adds to my personal interest in him too. Idk ig we’re very close friends on a parasocial level lol.
And ofc there really aren’t that many poets around that give such visceral, truthful, and emotional insights to the First World War as Owen does (also a queer icon). He was my intro to war literature and I have tattoos relating to him, he and his work are just incredible to read about, would highly recommend having a look at Siegfried Sassoon’s war poems too; another very blunt poet who was a celebrity and war protestor at the time and happened to mentor Wilfred Owen, as well as being linked with other influential folks of the time such as Robbie Ross, Stephen Tennant, Rupert Brooke, and Ivor Novello. Ok Ill move on :,)
11) A nonfiction book you own:
Surprisingly I quite like nonfiction, mainly history and essays from philosophers and the like. Speaking of, Friedrich Nietzsche’s Beyond Good And Evil is a pretty solid one I own, I’ve never read anything where the author begins by calling himself and all his coworkers socially inept incels 🥹 but even though I don’t remember the specific reason I bought it (I was reading it to argue against some other philosophers in an essay in college and I really don’t remember who or what it was) I remember it being a really interesting read
Or yknow in a more traditional sense of non-fiction, I also have Notes On A Nervous Planet by Matt Haig. Really helped me get through some stuff, if you’re struggling with anxiety or feeling a bit down lately I’d very much recommend
12) What are you currently reading:
Omg ok, The Hitchhiker Trilogy by Douglas Adams, I’m currently on book 3 of 5 - Life, The Universe, And Everything. Really silly and nonsensical space bs but somehow also a bleakly satirical social commentary on the unseriousness of our ‘serious’ world. Really enjoyable, fairly political to some degree, really short (around or less than 200 pages a book), really fun. Martin Freeman truly was the perfect casting for Arthur Dent in the film of the first book. Full of that quintessentially British cynical humour and of course plenty of cups of tea
To give a little preview, the second book literally opens “The story so far: In the beginning, the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.”
13) What are you planning on reading next?
Books 4 and 5 of The Hitchhiker Trilogy, and then I suppose I had better carry on reading The Tale Of The Body Thief :D
Tagging whoever wants to have a go, it’s super fun, sorry if I went on a bit on some of these 😅

This is just an open invitation for you to talk about Mount Eerie if you wanna do that. I saw your post about the cd shipping and looked up lost wisdom PT 2 and really like their music! If you have any recommendations for what to listen to first pls share but no pressure (・∀・)
oh ye ;o; !! wwell listen to Lost Wisdom part 1 then! its so good, one of my favourites.. also first mount eerie thing i listened to years ago. lost wisdom, what? and voice in headphones are my favourites.. also check out the version of lost wisdom on the wind's poem album , its good too. the one with julie doiron is my fave though. and then, i say this with a big warning, big content warning for directly confronting death and mourning in some cases written only days after, but listen to A Crow Looked At Me if you can. i cant rly say anything to describe how it made me feel apart from it felt like my chest being torn open .. also soria moria is a masterpiece, one of my favourite songs of all time :' '') though i wish it didnt have to exist, like wish genevieve castrée was still around instead of course. she's one of my favourite illustrators ever. . . but ye, after A Crow.. then there's Now Only , which is sorta a sequel to crow.. i love it a lot too. then after those idk, check out different things (which is what im still doing rn), even phil elverums others work as The microphones. some albums are much louder, much noisier than others.. ones like Dawn are very soft for the most part (this ones rly nice and iirc was written in a little remote cabin in norway, so thats sorta the vibes), and ones like wind's poem are louder, some are more electronic. . im going to listen to White Stag in full soon, i've heard one song from it and it needs to be listened to in order (a lot of th tracks in the albums kinda do, theres stories in them and sequels) , also im gonna listen to more of No Flashlight, Pre-Human Ideas, Clear Moon and etc etc etc. .. also The Glow part II by the microphones. . also been listening to geneviève castrée's music as ô paon, i like it lots too :'''' )
i hope you enjoy(?) or find something in his work. . truly one of my favourites of all time.. his lyricism is so amazing, so touching and raw and quiet in a way that isnt always soft, the way he strums and plays guitar and uses distortion and crackling textured sounds too is so good..  i love this music so much n so gently :’-o
here's some fave mount eerie songs just because: it wasn't the hurting, woolly mammoths mighty absence, soria moria, voice in headphones, lost wisdom, cold mountain, tintin in tibet, no flashlight, mud grave, sighing, what?, through the trees pt. 2, my heart is not at peace, ravens, and crow. . 🌿

books i read in july and what i thot of them because im in a silly goofy mood and want to make a post like this
the song of achilles - madeline miller (historical fiction)
retelling of the myth of achilles, from patroclus' (his normal dudebro absolutely no romance there - some historians) perspective. some banger lines balanced out by godawful ones (once you start counting how many times feet are mentioned you never really stop + skin is once described as 'the color of freshly pressed olives' which is just green). the story is, yknow, beautiful and aching. i did really enjoy it, worth the read!
this is going to hurt - adam kay (non-fiction)
diaries of a junior doctor (who no longer practices medicine), with funny as well as heartbreaking anecdotes on life as a doctor. fucking hilarious at times, then you turn the page and you read the saddest thing. i absolutely devoured this book, its a really cool insight into the medical world! 10/10 have already decided m gonna reread
a short history of nearly everything - bill bryson (non-fiction)
what the title says! its basically an 'introduction' to all of science (air quotes bc its like 500 pages) written in a way that makes it both easy and fun to read as someone who studies literature and hasnt had a science course in 4 years. imo best read along with a pencil so you can underline and comment etc. wonderful book, learned a lot and had a great time
opposite of always - justin a. reynolds (romance, YA, coming of age idk)
high school senior gets together with the girl of his dreams. and then she dies. but no fear! its groundhog day week months and he wakes up right when he met her again. can he save her? while this book is sweet and well written and lovely message and all that.... it made me realise 'ah. im officially too old to relate to high schoolers'. so there's that.
haven't they grown - sophie hannah (mystery)
the protagonist parks in front of the house of her old childhood best friend who she hasnt seen in 12 years. just having a looksee. oh there she is, getting out of the car with her kids! hold the fuck up. those kids look exactly the same age as 12 years ago... a book with layers upon layers of lies and mystery, i recommend saving it for a time that you have the entire day to read, you just wanna know So bad. the protagonist's daughter (and her husband to some degree) help her to figure it out and it's neat :)
wendy, darling - a.c. wise (fantasy)
what if peter pan and neverland wasnt really the dream it seemed? what if wendy got institutionalised for still believing in it? what if, years later, she has a daughter. and what if, one night, peter pan comes for her daughter. a really cool reimagining, really goes hard on the 'peter is a kid forever and ever and has insane powers to shape neverland so maybe thats not a good idea!' i really loved it, its a great book about growing up even though you dont want to etc. also incredibly expressive writing, i could picture perfectly what was being described. quite eerie a lot of the time but im a fan of that
the dreamers - karen thompson walker (sci-fi?)
there's a girl at a college that won't wake up anymore. she's just peacefully sleeping but nothing can rouse her. after a few days, she passes away. weird but alright! ah shit it was contagious and now the whole town is falling asleep. they all seem to be dreaming so vividly though, what could it be about? odd writing style, but in a good way. something else yknow. really eerie vibes, but unmatched by the way your skin crawls when you check the date it was published and it was before the pandemic. uncomfortable similarities! its about the way a community might come together (or not) in crisis times and also about the differences between waking and dreams. fun!
the midnight library - matt haig (philosphical fiction)
it starts with nora taking an overdose. except she wakes up in the midnight library, a place between life and death. there she can try other routes her life could have taken if she'd done things differently. a really nice book about depression and finding the will to live again by looking at yourself with a new perspective. although i loved one of his other books (how to stop time) more, this was also a very good read

I'm gonna explain one of my TMA playlists bc I've been wanting to do that for several months, and how else am I supposed to procrastinate my animatic project at one in the morning?
(here's the link to the playlist bc I think its pretty slappin')
General:
Body Terror Song By AJJ-
I know that it could technically be a flesh song, but I feel like its a bit more vague than that? if that makes sense?
The Afternoon By Lemon Demon-
there's gonna be a lot of Lemon Demon songs in this lol- This one is also pretty vague, but for some reason it kinda reminds me of Michael specifically? I don't 100% know how to describe it.
thrifted youth By dalynn-
Most of the descriptions/reasonings in the general section are pretty simplistic and vague huh? I guess it just kinda fits the vibe? I might be saying that for a lot of the general ones-
Aurora Borealis By Lemon Demon-
this one reminds me of the season five, kinda feels like a jmart song. (also you'll probably notice that there's not much in the ship theme in this playlist. I like to keep my ship playlists separate from my more general ones, don't know why.)
Under My Skin By Jukebox The Ghost-
just kinda fits the vibe y'know? other than that I don't really know.
Turn the Lights Off By Tally Hall-
i can't actually remember why I put this one specifically- that's a bit unfortunate-
When He Died By Lemon Demon-
This one mostly just fits the vibe, makes me think about the really old Victorian era statements.
Ancient Aliens By Lemon Demon-
again, fits the vibe.
She Doesn't Sleep By Anthony Amorim-
Feels like a random statement tbh. also reminds me of Not!Sasha too.
Nightmare Fuel By Lemon Demon-
funky song- fits the vibe- I don't know what more I can say-
Everybody Loves Me by OneRepublic-
I don't remember actually???? I think It was an Elias one??? but thinking about it now that doesn't really make much sense???? I'm gonna keep it tho, fits the vibe, at least it does to me.
Bloody Nose By Jack Conte-
fits the vibe :)
Christmas Kids By Roar-
I think I saw an animatic to this one time? now I can only think of the season one archival staff,,,, my beloveds,,,,
La nuit en matin By OH MU-
imma be honest, I have no idea what this one's actually about, but It lowkey reminds me of the intro music during end of season three- y'know, the clown vibes :D
9 to 5 By Dolly Parton-
Archival staff moment
American Healthcare By Penelope Scott-
I guess it could technically be seen as an End themed one? but I put it on bc I felt like it fit the vibes (are you getting sick of reading vibes? i'm getting sick of typing it)
Butch 4 Butch By Rio Romeo-
mostly just the rat filled piano line,,,,,, and also it fits the vibes to me.
Oblivion By Grimes-
Kinda feels like a statement?? In a way?
Murders By Miracle Musical-
the vibes. hopefully thats the last time i type that for this-
oh yeah woo yeah, we're onto the specific Entities now B) lets start with the one that probably has the most, if not, it sure feels like it-
The Spiral:
Spiral Eyes By Rewenge-
yeahhhh,,,, I know it doesn't really fit the vibes all that well, But the title fits and I like it so-
The Distortionist By Ghost and Pals-
this one is SUPER obvious, but it fits REALLY well in my mind.
Out of Her Head (Outerlude) [From The Film Possibly in Michigan] By Korban Baxter-
I can literally picture this one- I lowkey wanna do an animatic of this one one day.
A Crow's Trial By Vane Lily-
OKAY- so this last one is because it's the song from an absolutely GORGEOUS animation/animatic by Akidachi on YouTube, I ADORE this animation. please watch it omg-
again, I'm like, 90% sure that The Spiral has the most songs on this playlist, definitely not a bias or anything. next up is the mf uhhhh-
The Corruption:
Spiral of Ants By Lemon Demon-
no explanation needed.
Maggot By Slutever-
Mostly just the name, but it's a good song too so-
Sick On Seventh Street By Sarah and the Safe Word-
fits the vibe title and actual song wise.
in retrospect under my skin probably could be here-
The Web:
Redesign Your Logo (Bonus Track) By Lemon Demon-
Feels like a very web song,,,
Boris The Spider By The Who-
Spider,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Spider Dance By Toby Fox-
Yes,,, like from undertale,,,,,,,
i think thats it for the web (i swore there were more,,,,)
The Lonely:
Nobody By Mitski-
C'mon, you didn't think I WOULDN'T put this one on, did you?
This December By Ricky Montgomery-
idk what it is exactly about this one, just,,,, feels correct?
Blue Jay Way By The Beatles-
MANNNNNNN- i love this song, my mom hates it- that's unrelated- but I always just feel like there's fog or like, an eerie sea, or something- while listening to it. it feels very lonely-
I'm a Member of the Midnight Crew (1909) By Eddie Morton-
I have no idea why spotify suggested this song to me, but I will never not find it funny. Anyway- reminds me of the crew on Peter's ship :)
The Stranger:
Rattlesnake By Kabaret Sybarit-
Idk, feels like smth Nikola would sing at jon- idk how else to explain it-
A Mask of My Own Face By Lemon Demon-
pretty self explanatory lolll
The Slaughter:
War Pigs By Black Sabbath-
war.
The Hunt:
The Hunter By Slaves-
maybe this one is because it's because it's litterally called the hunter, and that they say hunter a bunch, but it is fun to listen to-
Teeth By 8 Graves-
I cannot remember my reasoning at this current moment-
The Flesh:
Body By Mother Mother-
the lyrics do be fittin doe
The Dark:
Everything Goes Dark By The Hoosiers-
i mean- everything goes dark- what more do you want me to say-
Dr.Sunshine Is Dead By Will Wood and the Tapeworms-
i think its mostly the song's vibe and the title.
The End:
The Trick to life By The Hoosiers-
the trick to life is not to get too attached to it.
Memento Mori: the most important thing in the world By Will Wood-
remember death.
YOOO OKAY NOW WE'RE ON THE ONES THAT I HAVE ACTUAL THINGS TO SAY ABOUT NOW- at least for the most part-
Characters:
i think i'm gonna go from least to most for this- (spoilers, Jon has the most ones because I care him)
Cryptid Hunt- Demo By Averno, Sushi Soucy-
this one makes me think of the WTGFs,,,,,
You're at the Party (Bonus Track) By Lemon Demon-
makes me think about Micheal Shelley,,,,,,,
Saint Bernard By Lincoln-
Alice "daisy" Toner moment-
Mary By The Happy Fits-
mary keay,,,,,,
there used to be a gerry one too, but the more I heard it in the context of the playlist and him, It just didn't fit,,,,,
Ew it's Elias/jonah time-
The Fine Print By The Stupendium-
capitalism- jk- kinda- Idk, just feels like it fits because he really just kinda,,, doesn't care about his employees-
How Bad Can I Be? from the lorax-
I had to-
Boss 3 from the terraria soundtrack-
Listen- I don't know why- but- it has elias/jonah vibes- the vibes are fowl, but the song is good.
Ruler of Everything By Tally Hill-
Panopticon/eyepocolypes time-
Ayooo it's jon time- I really hope I can write out my thoughts in a way that makes any kind of sense- /foreshadowing
A Sadness Runs Through Him By The Hoosiers-
Goddddd,,,,, he's just kinda filled with sadness and survivors guilt, just like, all the time huh?
Home By Cavetown-
the lyrics are just- very him- like- I just gjbdjgsflkjns-
Broken Crown By Mumford & Sons-
frick- the foreshadowing was accurate- the best I can describe it is that the lyrics just???? y'know??? hhh why am I like this sometimes-
Sweet HIbiscus Tea By Penelope Scott-
i'm willing to bet that he never wanted to be the main character-
Honey I'm Home By Ghost and Pals-
I saw a Jon centric animatic to this one time- I can't for the life of me remember who by, But everytime I hear the moth lines, my brain goes ":0" Because I remember there was a time when people kept drawing moth jon- I don't know where that came from but I thought it was very cool.
Who Are You, Really? By Mikky Ekko-
I'm like- actually starting to get frustrated with how poorly im articulating my thoughts right now- this just isn't funny anymore-
Sleep By My Chemical Romance-
I'm not actually sure why for this one- I just remeber putting on my black parade CD, hearing this, and being like, "damn, that do kinda be jon tho-"
I hope you enjoyed my ramblings- tbh, all this sounded and read out better in my head. My words might not make sense, but I do like how the playlist is. also im very tired, maybe this would've been written better if I wasn't struggling to keep my eyes open lol. I'm gonna fall asleep now- or maybe i'll post a spiral themed doodle dump again, who knows. I don't know.

Can we have one song from each of yo it characters’ playlists?
Yes OF COURSE!! 🎶 In fact, have one for each series.
Benjamin/TGTBT- Haven’t Missed You All My Life by John Ralston. I chose this song for Benj as inspiration for a piece on his family that I plan on writing, specifically his mom. Standout lyrics: “we might find the perfect lines to hide our little white lies dear, and put you in where you should have been all my life”
Billy Russo/ISY- Persona Non Grata by Bright Eyes. Not every lyric fits perfectly for Billy but it’s a very melancholy/ eerie song and oh idk it just makes me think of him. Standout lyrics: “unwelcome in autumn, persona non grata. I’m the last of the best, I’m your thoughts in the swamp.”
Billy Russo/ Jigsaw- Down on Your Knees by Flora Cash. This whole album (can summer love last forever) was very influential when I was writing Jigsaw, specifically Blue. It’s about being so close to having it all and then having it all taken away. Standout lyrics: “almost winning and now I don’t know but it seems like it’s almost away from me. Maybe one day I’ll be strong enough to find it out and I’ll know it all.”
Ryan Brenner/Passing Through- Devil Put The Coal in The Ground by Steve Earle & the Dukes. This one makes the list because it’s fun and I feel like it’s something Ryan might play with Georgie and Louie. (Which happens soon in PT!!) Standout lyrics: “He buried it deep, it’ll never be found, devil put the coal in the ground. Said that’ll be a diamond some day”
Logan Delos/ SYiNY- Sleepwalkin by LUTHI. This song. No. This album. NO! This band is such a vibe for this story. But this song in particular is fun and funky and surprising and it highlights how much Logan’s life has changed since meeting/ working with/ falling for Reader. Standout lyrics: “She keeps me company most every night, sliding from dream to dream. Sleeping’s never felt so right. I’ve been waking up all hungry-like.”
Logan Delos/ The Bottom- All These Little Cowboys by Cory Branan. This is easily one of the most heartbreaking songs I have ever heard, and therefore one of the most Logan Delos #BlackHatForever song I’ve ever heard. Standout lyrics: “So they settle for the bottom and they make for the door and all these little cowboys break like someone’s keepin’ score.”
Logan Delos/ Core Drive- Light of Love by Florence + the Machine. This song (like so many from this goddess) gave me violent chills the first time I heard it. There is such threadbare desperation and yet really buoyant hopefulness in that song, and it echos the story I’m trying to tell with CD. Standout Lyrics: “ In some ways that was simpler, being too fucked up to see. I didn’t have to wake up to the world that was around me.”
Logan Delos/ Oblivion & Simplify- Darkest Shade of Blue by Young the Giant. This song is incredibly intimate. It’s very short, just a quick little moment in time, but it has this really slow, almost time-stopping effect that reminds me of their first real night together, when Reader is honest with Logan about her situation and both of them let their guards completely down. The song is so short I’m going to share all of the lyrics: “Lights are out the world begins to fade and I want you to know you’re not alone. I want you to know you’re not alone anymore. I’m here with you when your hands are shaking. I’m here with you when your heart is racing. I’m here with you in the darkest shade of blue. You’re not alone anymore.”
Nick Tortano/ Made Man- Slow Tune by Ashok. This is super jazzy and maybe doesn’t really fit Nick’s vibe, but it feels like a song the Reader character in that story might listen to, and sort of describes what it’s like to fall for a guy like Nick. Standout Lyrics: “Something started on that day, something happened to my heart, something strange. It was a quiet rain that fell upon your face and I knew then that I had won the losing race.”
Nick Tortano / Our Time- Tick of the Clock by Chromatics. The song that started this series. It has no lyrics. If you need to add tension to a situation, especially a time-influenced situation, THIS is the song to listen to. Guaranteed to stress you out (or pump you up depending on how adrenaline treats you), I listened to it on loop while I wrote 10,800.
HERE’S THE PART WHERE I GET TO DROP HINTS AT WHAT’S TO COME!!!
John Whittaker/ Let’s Face the Music & Dance (LFtM&D) Make Someone Happy performed by Jeff Goldblum & the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra. Sigh and swoon. This is the most fun of all my playlists because John at his very core is the most fun of all, period the end. I don’t want to give too much away because this is still in the very early developmental stages, but think big bands and happiness and GASP! laughs instead of tears. Standout lyrics: “make just one heart the heart you sing to. One smile that cheers you, one face that lights when it’s near you, one girl you’re everything to.”
King Caspian/ STILL FUCKING UNTITLED Trouble by The Franklin Electric. Might seem like a weird choice but it was the song that I was listening to when I was cleaning out a closet and was struck with the dumb idea to write this story. I really need to stop floundering on a title and pick one because this is nearly ready to start posting. Anywho. Standout lyrics: “Two found lovers in a place so far from home. Be the last of the believers and you laugh in the face of old. If everything is buried and you still can’t find your home, and I know believers I know. I know trouble like it’s all I’ve got.”

dystopia: the tree of language - dreamcatcher (album review)
(a/n): this piece of writing isn’t something i wrote recently. it was something that i had to write for my journalism class last year ‘cause we did this thing where our teacher gave us different option of assignments we wanted to do (idk how else to describe it LOL) and i took the chance to write an album review. i still kept this in my google docs and ngl, i’m actually really proud of this one, so hopefully y’all will like it too!
Tumblr media
album: dystopia - the tree of language
artist(s): dreamcatcher
release: 2-18-2020
genre(s): k-pop, rock, metal
Mixing rock with lyrical themes of horror and fantasy, “Dreamcatcher” is one of the many South Korean acts that stand out from other K-Pop girl groups. Like their other releases, their debut album, “Dystopia: The Tree of Language,” brushes aside the girl crush style and welcomes you into their dystopian world.
Dreamcatcher was originally named MINX. They debuted in 2014 with five of the original members and had more of a bubbly and girly style. However, in early 2017, they debuted again as Dreamcatcher with two new members and took on a rock style and gave themselves a darker image.
After the intro, the album starts with the lead single, “Scream,” which features guitars and drum beats. A hauntingly beautiful piano can be heard in the pre-chorus along with the sound of an eerie scream. The part that stood out to me the most was the second chorus, which features Dami and Gahyeon rapping. With their deep voices, these girls stand out in the song, which makes them recognizable to fans.
The instrumental production of “Tension” is delivered a little faster, making the song more intense. However, the lyrical content is more hopeful, with the girls singing to the listeners to not let their fears overtake them, and they don’t have to worry about anything.
The rest of the songs are mostly rock, but feature different instruments. An example would be in “Red Sun,” which features synthesizers with a music box track. During the pre-chorus of “Black & White,” violins and drums can be heard, which fires up the mood, but as soon as the chorus drops, listeners hear a funky hook.
“Jazz Bar” and “Daydream” are a little different and are more R&B and pop. The piano in both songs gives them a chill and calming vibe, which gives coffee-shop vibes.  “Sahara,” has a middle eastern style, but it wouldn’t be a Dreamcatcher song without rock elements. There’s even an epic drop right before the chorus. The same goes for “In The Frozen” and “Full Moon.” They both start with a haunting intro followed by a drop in the chorus with some beats.
“Paradise,” my favorite track, captures Siyeon’s haunting but beautiful vocals, which blend perfectly with the piano, beats, and synthesizers. It sounds like a ballad at first, but the beats quickly prove the listeners wrong and take on the haunting Dreamcatcher sound they always had.
Overall, this album still defines Dreamcatcher as a group. It featured some new sounds to mix in with their signature rock sound, which makes it unique. You may not like K-pop, but if you’re more of a rock fan, get the chance to listen to “Dystopia: The Tree of Language.”

If there was one thing that Jaskier and Valdo could put aside their differences for, it was Aevryn. They’d done it as youths when she performed and they did it now as they worked to keep her from checking the hits her newly released demo were receiving. It went well for most of the day. Valdo woke up ludicrously early just to make sure he’d be there to pounce – somewhat literally – when she woke. After that lengthy distraction he pulled her into the shower with him before she could check her phone. Right on cue as they were just toweling off, Jaskier showed up at the door. He and Aevryn had a pact that if ever one of them showed up on the other’s doorstep and invoked Friend Code, the other had to drop everything and spend the day with them. Valdo made a big show of being dramatically grumpy about Jaskier arriving, such a big show that at some point Jaskier wasn’t sure how much was for Aevryn’s benefit and how much was just amusing himself, but he managed to get her out the door. Aevryn noticed her phone wasn’t on her as soon as they got in the car and Jaskier texted Valdo quickly to let him know that their first plan hadn’t worked as she went inside to find it. Valdo quickly tucked the phone in his jacket pocket, loathe to hide her property but desperate to keep her from seeing the numbers.
“It hasn’t just disappeared, Valdo, I swear I had it on the nightstand when we fell asleep last night,” she said, grasping under the bed though she knew Valdo paid their housekeepers handsomely enough that every inch stayed dust bunny free.
“We were pretty well knackered by the end of things, love, there’s a fair chance it got left behind in a restaurant or something or other,” Valdo lied lamely, frantically texting Jaskier for ideas to stall. Aevryn’s head popped up over the side of the bed, a swath of wavy hair falling into her face. She looked like a very adorable, very grumpy groundhog popping out of its hole but Valdo was just wise enough not to make that observation at that moment.
“Valdo I’m not going without my phone. What if something happened and you needed to reach me?” she asked.
“I’d call Jaskier,” he answered quickly. She cocked an eyebrow at him suspiciously.
“You’d call Jaskier?” she replied skeptically.
“If it were a real emergency, yes. I’m talking lost limbs and extensive blood loss. But I’ll endeavor to be safe in your absence,” he crooned as he tried to pull her to the door. She was almost over the threshold, Jaskier walking towards the door to escort her the rest of the way, when her phone went off in his jacket. There was no mistaking that it was her phone because the song that rang out was a punk cover of Barbie Girl, an inside joke between her, Yennefer, Win, and Y/N developed during a girl’s night. Her sea green eyes filled with hurt and suspicion as she stared Valdo down, reaching into his pocket to pull it out and finding a missed call from Win. A voicemail was left a second later and she opened it.
“Babe don’t even sweat it,” Win’s voice, filled with disdain said, “We know that it’s a solid album and the right people will catch on soon too. I know you hate taking favors from Valdo’s people but it’s only nepotism if you’re not qualified. I say call those bitches up and say Hello, This is Aevryn Swift and I’m here to kick ass and play beautiful music and I’m all out of ass. Or something like that. Idk, we’ll work out the details, call me when you can, bye!”
Valdo exhaled heavily, making eye contact with Jaskier who still stood a few steps away, both watching as Aevryn silently went to the bandcamp page to look at the download numbers. She stared at them for a moment, unblinking, and then nodded.
“Ok,” she said with eerie calm before turning to Jaskier, “This was just a ploy, right? You don’t actually need to invoke Friend Code?”
“Ah – well – Er… no,” Jaskier answered sheepishly. She nodded again and pushed past Valdo to walk into the house. The two men exchanged a last, regretful look and then Jaskier turned back to his car and Valdo re-entered the house, prepared for a raging fight.
Aevryn put the kettle on and picked up the little pile of mail on the kitchen island and Valdo walked in cautiously, waiting for… something. She glanced up, a cool but serene look on her face.
“Did you want some tea?” she asked.
“No thank you, dear heart, but I do want to talk about the likelihood of you trying to murder me in my sleep tonight,” he replied. She rolled her eyes, turning to pull a mug down from the cupboard. Not even one of her usual, fun mugs, just a standard green one that she teased Valdo for using because it was so “boring.” These were all very bad signs but also new ones and he wasn’t sure what they meant. After knowing Aevryn for half of his life he wasn’t used to this feeling, and he didn’t like it.
“I’m not going to kill you. You were trying to keep me from checking, right?” she asked, peering over her shoulder. He nodded, curls bouncing slightly as he did, and she nodded back.
“I get it. I mean, it wasn’t cool, but I probably would have done the same thing,” she said as she fixed her cup.
“It is bullshit, Aev. Win’s right, we have connections-”
“No, Valdo. Anyone can get an album released, hell I already did it. But money can’t make people like or care about something if they don’t. Even if I was willing to consider it – which I’m not – it wouldn’t make a difference. I wanted to give it a shot, I did, now I know,” she said, shrugging her shoulders as she poured an amount of sugar that Valdo would have been disgusted by before but barely registered at the moment.
“Aevryn if I didn’t know any better I’d say it sounded like you were planning to stop performing. But there’s no way that could be true because that would be utterly bizarre and impossible because music is a part of who you are and you have a rare talent that should be shared with the world. Right? Aev?”
Valdo moved a bit closer as he spoke, eyes softening with worry and Aevryn deftly slipped by him with her mug, unable to look him in the eyes as she replied.
“Don’t be dramatic, Valdo, you’re just biased. And it’s fine. Jaskier will be thrilled to have me work full time as social media manager again and it’s not like I still can’t play music,” she shrugged, settling into her favorite chair in the living room. Valdo propped his hands on his hips and fixed her with a stern but not unloving expression.
“Aevryn Deirdre Swift-Marx you are not going to give up playing music because some people on the internet didn’t pay attention to your music as quickly or as much as they should have. There is no shame in pushing back and doing what you love because you love it and fuck the rest,” he argued.
“There’s also no shame in deciding not to invest more time and effort in something just for it to be ignored,” she shot back, a flicker of anger in her eyes. Good, he thought, better anger than apathy.
“You did work hard. You wrote beautiful music, you practiced and performed, you edited and you put so much into this album. And it deserves to be recognized and appreciated,” he said, a vehemence in his voice that could only be described as “ferocious validation.”
“I did,” she replied, “I worked very hard and I think the music is good, why don’t they notice? Why don’t they care?”
Valdo caught the glossiness in her eyes before she could look away and nearly pitched her mug of tea over the chair onto the hardwood floors as he tried to pull her into a hug. He held her, awkwardly half-standing/half-crouching, not caring that his arm was falling asleep or anything but the fact that she held him back with her free arm, resting her head against his shoulder.
“I know it’s hard, love. But I have a proposition for you,” he said. She pulled back to look into his emerald eyes as he moved into a full crouch by her side, fixing her with an entreating look.
“What?” she asked.
“Today, be sad. Be angry. Be whatever you need to be. Take a break, perhaps. Process through it. But then forget it. Or let it fuel you. The only thing I ask is that you not let other people stop you from doing what you love. And even though it was hard work, I know you loved every part of it. And that deserves recognition and respect but most of all it deserves to exist. Because it makes you happy.”
She considered his words, pulling her hand inside the sleeve of her too-large sweater to wipe her face before tilting her head back and sighing.
“Ok,” she said, “I won’t quit the music industry forever. Not today, at least.”
“That’s all I ask,” Valdo said, rising to press a gentle kiss against her cheek, “Now how about I make you some fresh tea, because that’s gone cold, and you burrow under that blanket and pick something ridiculous for us to watch.”
“French Kiss is not ridiculous, it is classic and underappreciated,” you argued hotly. He smiled, pleased to see his spitfire back as he pulled the mug from your hands and thrust the quilted blanket into your lap.
“Whatever you say, sweetling,” he replied, and then set off to make her more tea, carefully selecting a mug shaped like an otter and searching for some biscuits before she could think to ask.

70.worst possible time to get horny:

I wonder if its that, that gets me to feel resentful sometimes and not knowing why?
79.who/what was your last dream about?
Hmmm man I dont remember very well, I think it was on some apocaliptic scene? I remember a lot of running and hiding and guns in a broken city.
80.would you go back in time if you were given the chance?

Createurs - We Exist
I have the pleasure of being in the presence of talented and passionate artists and musicians most of the time and it’s, for me, is one of the best things in my life. Friends, I call these people.
Last Saturday, one of the bands I looked out for in the past years launched their first album – We Exist. Createurs, which is apparently the French word of creators which is already so beautiful when you think about it in itself, is a collaborative band telling the stories of the monsters not just under our beds but also the ones inside our heads, even the ones that are chasing us, through the music of different people. They have also collaborated with different visual artists for each of their song and those artworks were also featured in the lyrics booklet with their CD.
We Exist album has 12 well-written tracks that speaks of the eerie, the enchanting, the damned, and the mystery of the entirety of life. Yes, life.
Now, I’m not going to pretend like I’m some music expert and give you guys a review of their album. I am, however, going to share with you my thoughts on each and favorite lyrics from the tracks in it.
1. Pancake (Re)Mix
Tumblr media
This one’s a little too close to my heart. Remember the artworks I’ve mentioned earlier? I made one for them and it was for this song. I think this is the most outright cheesy song they have in their album. But even so, it wasn’t the corny kind. I described this one as “colorful” when I first heard it. It’s exactly the reason why I was careful on putting too much color in the artwork, I didn’t want to take the colors from the song – I wanted it to be as serene and innocent as the song.
“Flying with time just to witness your smile. And I, oh I’m falling down tonight”
We all know the feeling of being all chummy giddy soft inside like we swallowed a whole damn litter of puppies and they won’t stop making you melt from the inside and that’s what this song makes you feel like – kilig. Oh young, new, love.
2. Tides and Lifelines
Okay, just reading the title you’d get an idea of what this song is about. This song reminds me of a lyric from one of my most favorite band ever ever; “love is watching someone die”. (fine it’s from What Sarah Said by Death Cab For Cutie). I think this is one of the songs Createurs wrote and it speaks about mortality and how we deal with it.
“We’re the bullet in each other’s gun, shoot the angels that would take us apart”
Just read those lines. I don’t want to even think how hard it is to be so desperate and helpless in trying to help someone so dear in the brink of death. Ouch, I’m just gonna go and cry for a while.
3. Teragram Carnivale
“Shadows fall on rooms like this, where the sun and the moon collide, with your eyes that once were my carousel rides”
I feel like we all can relate to this song in some way. It has to be relevant to every one of us at some point in our lives. We all wanted to believe in something that has grew its root around our hearts and got a little too caught up in the roller coaster rides. I think this song brings you back to that particular time to make you realize that the past never changes and they never go away. Definitely in my top 3.
4. Facemask
I think I’ve played this song one too many times when they uploaded this on spotify before. Mostly because of its catchiness and its angst. Lol sorry I know, I can’t think of a better way to describe it. You can actually feel the song’s anger and disappointment wrapped in some sort of vengeful feeling.
I liked the lines “You’re only fooling yourself, messing everyone’s head.  A catfish, a sly dish, the culprit, gets blown kiss”
In this digital era, anything and everything can be edited or lied about and it gets sickening when someone or a group of people manipulate others by lying to them about important things.  Technology is a beautiful thing if used for good, but there is some greed in humanity that uses it for something else entirely.
5. Trigger Warning
“It’s the beginning and it’s the end. When all the light has been set, a warning when night is at best.”
I feel like this song was supposed to be in the beginning? It would have been nice to have heard this intro to all their haunting songs, both in a good and eerie way. It’s like the ones you hear when you watch a horror movie that gives you chicken skin and cool fog kinda vibes. It’s a mood setter, a look into the mirror of our own self. It asks you to look inside and acknowledge that you are one of these monsters you are so scared of.
6. The Curious Life of Mr. Hyde II: The Mexicat
This song is still in my everyday playlist. It’s been there since I’ve met Rain the night they played for WAT Up the first time and I got sucked into their music. Oh god I have so many favorite lines from this song!! It’s about mental issues and it perfectly sings the chaos that is in one’s head. They wrote this to try and explain how complicated it is to be in the state of unstable mental health in a very poetic way.
Here are my top 3 lines (YESS BECAUSE I CANT CHOOSE OKAY?? ☹ ); “The colorful imagery of dancing audacity”, “Conversing with my demons, addicted to the tone”, “I haven’t got a martini or any kind of whiskey, But baby you’re my margarita, drunk in love with you”.
Welp. Let’s just say I love the entire lyrics ugh
7. Pianocktail
OH THIS! I love this one. This reminds me of my other favoritest band forever – Panic! At The Disco. The story within and the sophistication in this one is something that’s imprinted into my fanatic heart (awow).
“The taste has never been this condescending. A drink to be made by the one and only pianocktail!”
Ah, there’s nothing more tripping than an uncertainty for something you’ve had for so long.
8. Chat Box From Alaska
“She’s a part-time lover and a beautiful liar, plagued with her broken words and empty promises. Cornered by the pillars of her comfort and embrace, making out with someone better, someone smoother, someone tastier”
I feel like this song is basically for fuck girls who manipulates people for sex by leading people on and leaving them just as fast. I think the last part of this song was written by Rain as a poem years and years ago? Nevertheless, it ended the song so smoothly.
9. Awful Things the Moon Saw
This song makes me think of obsessive lovers or past ones that refuses to let it go. Maybe it’s also us when we hold on a little too tight on something that’s already slipping away.
“Well you know you’ve got me haunted by your scent, Now I find myself begging and falling for you more and more.”
It is also kind of a lullaby to me for some reason, I can sleep soundly with this one playing hehe
10. St. Cecille
This one’s also in my playlist since I’ve first heard it. I think I read the story behind (or at least heavily connected) this song, written by the vocalist. He has a lot of passion, idk ask him. JK!!!!
"Rhyme our thoughts in this waltzing dreams. Time stops when you are around. You’re the one I’ve been talking about on the song of roads and hearts”
I wish I can share with you guys the link to the story but I’m not sure if he’d like that. Anyway, this love song is right up my alley – mysterious, magic, and love? Hell yas.
11. Bloodstream
All I can say about this is that I am so excited for the story to come out because I want to look more into it. Twilight’s werewolves just left the building.
“Chaotic, poetic, and overly narcissistic. Hypnotic, agnostic, but slightly optimistic. Out of the forest to Manila fucking buses. It’s a tale about a man who waltzed among carcasses.”
It’s a midnight story!
12. Stellar Memories
The first song, besides the ones I’ve already heard before of course, that caught my attention in the album was this one. It’s a desperate attempt to preserve something we believe in and wish for its memories to last up to our end.
“Set up the fire and let’s dance around the house. Then watch it burn down like the dreams we fought so hard to get. If this is it, hope higher, ‘cause we’ll hide from the world and never make a….”
I feel like this is the best song to end the album with because I didn’t want it to end and I just kept it on loop for all its entirety because I liked each song.
I’ve already wrote a (lengthy) Instagram post about their well thought branding and packaging but I also want to commend them for the bomb line up and organized launch! Page Four Production reminded me so much of the first gigs of WAT UP and made me miss the team. From promotions to media exposures, to the materials! I look forward to attending gigs they’d come up with!
I won’t ask for more releases so soon because I want to savor this album and all its stories. I’ve already heard the Part I of Mr. Hyde and it’s Createurs’ gift to everyone who attended their launch so if you are curious, wait for the next album maybe it’d be included there.
This album will always have a special place in my heart. It’s definitely worth the long wait. Congrats, Createurs!
Listen to them on Spotify and follow them on their social media pages to be updated!

Star, Venus and Leo? 💫
the devil works fast but lena works faster
hi!!!
Star- What song(s) do you feel describes you?
ok this is the hardest question i have ever had to answer omg and i literally have no idea how to answer this so uuhhhh the Vibe of any boy & bear song idk
edit: my friend says all the things she said by tatu becasue of how much i’ve been tormenting people with fics and the aesthetic of ocean drive.
so ya :)
Venus- What’s your favorite tv show?
I have way too many and it changes depending on the season/what I’m watching so at the moment i’ll have to go with anne with an e and the 100 that last episode destroyed me emotionally i am yet to recover
Leo- If you could change the way any movie was made, which movie would you change?
!!! interesting! the first thing that comes to mind is the giver (2014). could have been a lot better, and closer to the source material. while i get some of the changes the book was disturbing and eerie and in the end they stripped it down to the same monotone Dystopian Teen Movie with Cute Guy and his Love Interest i cant

Another ask meme 👀
So I was tagged by the one and only @merriemelodie who has a knack for making me feel valid on the worst of days, and also who I NEED TO COME UP WITH A SWEET NICKNAME FOR???❤️
The rules are: Post the rules, answer 11 questions, make up 11 new questions, and tag 11 people.
(Or just break the rules like I do. I tag the same people every time I do these so I’ll give everyone a break. If you want to, but don’t feel obligated: @plsetski, @zestyfiretruck, @stregina, @dednout, @vityanikiforova. For everyone else, I’m just being shy but if you see this and want to do it, CONSIDER YOURSELF TAGGED BY ME! And @ me in your response.)
My questions for people are:
If you could, would you choose to download your consciousness into an artificial simulation of life, where nothing really bad ever happens, and all the good things that you want from life happen in a believable way? Or would you rather live your life as it is now? Why?
If you could pick anything to do for your career, without having to worry about money, what would you do?
If you had to describe yourself with a Wikipedia article, or an article from The Onion, what would it be?
What is your favorite gif/meme??
If you could say anything to your younger self, what would you say? Would you say anything at all?
If humanoid androids became normalized and easily-accessible in the future, would you choose one as a companion? If no, why not? If yes, who would you like them to be based on?
What is the weirdest thing someone has every told you they like about you?
Which would you choose, and why: Bring your favorite character(s) to life? Or transport yourself into their world?
If you had to become immortal, what age would you choose to “die” and remain forever, and why?
What are your thoughts on Pluto? Is it a planet? or just a rock?
What is one thing you wouldn’t trade for $1,000,000 (or equivalent in your currency)?
And here are my long-ass answers for Melodieee:
Q1. Have any unpopular opinions? Now’s the time to say them. It doesn’t matter what they’re about; whether or not you think people will care about them, or if it’ll change people’s perceptions of you. Just let ‘em fly.
a:- Okay so…I don’t…really like Autumn…and it might…MAYBE..be my least favorite season…?? ? (I’m sorry, I know). I feel like this is particularly offensive coming from me, since I’m currently living in New England, which is well-known for having the most beautiful foliage during Autumn. But there’s only so much pumpkin spice and scarves I can indulge in before I have to face the reality that The Darkness™ is coming. Funny enough, I don’t have much of an aversion to Winter. (That’s a lie.) (I can’t manage during late February - March). (I barely make it to the end of Winter every year). All in all, this article pretty much summarizes my exacts feelings towards Autumn. Beware though, ~* 🚫 Autumn-lovers DON’T Interact! 🚫 *~, you will be enraged. ☕️🐸
Q2. Do you cling to summer, or are you typically more than excited for autumn? (Or do you not have a strong opinion either way?)
a:- Wellll I guess I sorta addressed this in the first answer? Hahaha. Aha. H a. (I still feel bad about it). But I suppose I don’t really cling to summer, because I have this icky tendency to…spoil good things before they are ready to be ruined??? Like “Ahhh, well am I going to feel bad eventually? Might as well get started on that right now!!”. Feeling Bad is the only thing I don’t procrastinate, lmao. But yeah, I don’t cling to summer (I mourn its death prematurely), and I don’t get excited for Autumn, I just do my best not to feel Too bad overall. I definitely don’t cry, because I Am A Big Kid Now.
Q3. What’s something that you’ve been wanting to tell somebody, but haven’t been able/felt ready to? (Of course, if you’re still not comfortable saying it in a public post, then you definitely shouldn’t feel obligated to do it. This is just for fun. ♥)
a:- The funniest thing is that a lot of the things that leave my mouth nowadays are things that I haven’t been ready to say. But I’ve been lucky enough not to word-vomit anything that’s been truly detrimental to my mental well-being. I’m also lucky to have a few amazing people in my life that I’m able to be quite vulnerable with.
Q4. What would the soundtrack for the film of your life look like? (FOR THOSE WILLING TO TAKE IT UP A NOTCH: if you were to write a Broadway musical about your life, what would some of the songs be titled/be about?)
a:- Let’s see if I can be as dramatic as possible. In terms of a movie soundtrack, I definitely think that the opening scene would be to Tame Impala’s Let It Happen. Once things calm down and fall back into the natural rhythym of grey, expect to enjoy tunes from Radiohead, in particular their track Daydreaming, which plays on repeat in my dissociative head on a regular. When things get desolate, we enjoy The Postal Service’s This Place Is a Prison. When they’re comedic (see: manic), we’re jamming to some Manfred Mann’s Earth Band!! If I could be selfish, I would find my Big Love and/or purpose, and the soundtrack would lighten up with sounds from Coldplay and Active Child. Also, because I am quietly just as dramatic as our favorite witch Georgi Popovich, a few of my Broadway musical song titles include “Sometimes Fireworks Are Silent”, “I’m Sorry For A LOT Of Things, But This Isn’t One Of Them”, “Some Of Us Taste Colors”, “Tequila (TEQUILA)”, and of course “2D Drawings Are As Strong A Medicine As Any”, which has a b-track “Music Is Morphine (Which is Also a Poison)”.
Q5. What’s a poem, story, or song lyric that you think about often? What about it captivates you?
a:- I’ll give you an entire song full of lyrics: The song Bloodstream, which is so aptly named for how deeply I feel it whenever I listen to it. It epitomizes the concept of soulmates for me, which I don’t believe is always a “happy-go-lucky” scenario, sometimes soulmates are just that - a split of your soul, a piece of you in another body, no sparkles and lovehearts, just another self in another form whose destiny is entwined with your own. As someone who isn’t sure they believe in soulmates irl, here’s why the song strikes me - The vocals are a bit eerie, and ever-so-slightly tired. It must be exhausting searching for a missing half. The recurring piano chords in the verses of the song make it feel a little bit like a memory. I imagine that’s what Deja Vu sounds like, which I find to be fitting when you think about all the subtle instances that have connected your life with someone else’s without you even noticing, but sometimes you just feel it. Then comes the chorus, more profound in its intensity, and all of a sudden it’s the realization hitting you like “Ahh, yes. This is the one I can’t live without. I see it now”. And then there’s the bridge, the melody changing again, acting as a flashlight as you wade through the murkiness of Doubt and Uncertainty, and leading you finally to the door of Acceptance. And once you’ve accepted it, and really digested the fact that you aren’t alone, you just float along - adrift but comfortable, because you realize that you aren’t drowning like you thought you would, or like you’ve been all this time. (That was cryptic AF, what does All That even mean??). Idk. I just feel the song deeply and I’m not really sure how to express why. 🎭
Q6. If you had to epitomize yourself with a Wikipedia article title, what would it be?
a:-I think may be Learned Helplessness.
Q7. What do you daydream about?
a:- I have two persistent daydreams lately. One is to lay in a meadow and just rest in a shady spot with the sun’s warmth peeking through the foliage, probably for the rest of my life. I wouldn’t mind being stuck in a time loop if it meant existing somewhere like this or this. I actually have this one saved as my desktop wallpaper at work. I stare at it throughout the day and it brings me peace. The second daydream is imagining what it would be like to go out and get roaring drunk with Yuuri and Pichit. Like…can you imagine the shenanigans??
Q8. What’s your go-to character/kart/track in Mario Kart? (ANY ITERATION)
a:-Toad…..and raiNBOW ROAD BINCH!!! FIGHT ME. #ChaoticEvil
Q9. What’s something people would be surprised to learn about you?
a:- IRL? People would be shocked that I’m pan/bi. Literally no one knows. Friends and family respect that I consider myself asexual, or at least non-sexual, but no one actually knows that I’m not straight. I have hinted on occasion, but growing up in one of the most homophobic and heteronormative societies means that if people haven’t seen you date anything but cis-gendered men (even if it was only for 6 months when you were 14 years old??) then it means you’re straight. Straight until proven otherwise (and simultaneously shunned by extended family for being The Gay Cousin™ ).
Q10. If you could name a crayon/nail polish color, what would it be, and what would the color be?
a:- Tbh, I’m the least creative when it comes to these things, so most likely it would be some sort of holographic sparkly fluorescent pink color, and the name would be “Trophy Husband” (because it reminds me of Victor).
Q11. What’s a question you wish I would’ve asked? ASK/ANSWER IT HERE.
a:- AHHHH THE PRESSURE idk IDK. Ummmmm how about “What do you like most about following me?”. And the answer would be that your tags and writing in general just hit me right in the feels, every. damn. time. Your sense of humor is also A+, it’s never mean-spirited, and you just generally provide a safe space for me to exist comfortably at the end of each day. You’re also incredibly observant, and I feel like I’m a slightly bigger and more important speck in this universe because of you. Thank you for being here ❤️.
THE END.

Because I really want to share my music taste with people and recommend some songs.
I like lots of kinds of music and I wanted to make a master-post thing of all the songs and music that are my favorites because they’ve been pent up inside me for too long!
Bands and Artists:
Mother Mother ~ Really good band but you might of already known that. I’ve been obsessed with their music and they’ve gained in popularity recently. Their music is kind of an alternative indie style but I’m not really sure if that’s the best way to describe them? They’re just really good. Trust me.
Favorite Songs:
Arms Tonite / Burning Pile / Family / Back in School / Problems / Ghosting / Bit by Bit (These are only some of their songs but you should check them out)
Tessa Violet ~ I really love this singer. Her voice is super nice to listen too and the lyrics in her songs are really creative and fun which is always a bonus. I don’t know about you but I tend to get tired with music that uses cliched terms over and over. Tessa Violet doesn’t do this and it’s sooooo nice to hear. Seriously I love her music.
Favorite Songs:
Make me a Robot / Spend Some Time / Small / On My Own / Just Right / Sorry I’m Not Sorry
Radical Face ~ Another really good band. Their music is a bit different from the artists up above but it’s still really good. Kind of folks-y? sort of? Some of the songs have a kind of eerie, kind of melancholy vibe to them, idk I’m really bad at describing music, they’re just really good. Go listen to them.
Favorite Songs:
Welcome Home / The Crooked Kind / River in the Dust / Black Eyes / Let the River in / Ghost Towns
Lord Huron ~ I discovered this guy after watching some Gravity Falls fan video lol. Can’t remember the video, but I remember the music and it’s really good music! I only fairly recently discovered him so I don’t really have a lot of favorites....yet.
Favorite Songs:
Ends of the Earth / Frozen Pines / Meet me in the Woods / The Yawning Grave
Agnes Obel ~ Some of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard, both instrumental and vocal, were done by this chick. If you’ve haven’t heard of her or heard her music before I highly recommend you check her out. Her music is magical.
Favorite Songs:
Wallflower / Philharmonics / September Song / Run Cried The Crawling / Riverside / The Curse / Brother Sparrow / Smoke And Mirror / Under Giant Trees
Les Friction ~ The most epic band (in my opinion) I love to listen to their music when I’m in the mood for adventure or daydreaming of adventure or something like that. :P (Sadly the lead singer died so I don’t believe the band is still together but I could be wrong.)
Favorite Songs:
Firewall / Who Will Save You Now? / String Theory / Torture / Come Back to Me / Louder Then Words
Individual Songs:
Mr. Bird - Thomas Giles ~ This is the song that inspired my oc of the same name and I’ve been trying to find this song for years because it’s such a cool song.
The Suburbs - Arcade Fire ~ My all time favorite song.
Stay Alive - Jose Gonzalez
Chambermaid Swing - Parov Stelar ~ Probably my personal favorite electro swing song.
Willow Tree March - The Paper Kites ~ This song has been gaining popularity it seems but I thought I’d put it here anyway because it’s that good of a song.
Apres Moi - Regina Spektor ~ All her songs are good but I think this one’s my favorite because of how different it is from her other songs. IT’S GOT BOTH FRENCH AND RUSSIAN IN IT!!! Anyway It’s a really unique song, and I really like it.
Let’s Face it I’m Cute - 11 Acorn Lane ~ Taako’s song
Shatter Me - Lindsey Stirling (ft Lzzy Hale) ~ Probably a bit cliche but it’s still one of my favorites. I can’t believe the video came out 3 years ago 0_o
End Of The World - Hunter Hunted
In The Woods Somewhere - Hozier
Curse - Imagine Dragons ~ one of their earlier songs but I still freaking love it.
Black Holes - Aviators ~ Couldn’t resist putting my favorite portal fan song on the list too ;P
Ghost - Belle Histoire  ~ This song is really pretty.
A Necessary End - Saltillo
Parrot - Stepdad
Let’s Be Pirates! - The Future Kings Of Nowhere ~ It’s a strange song but it’s honest. lol
Boy and Bear - Rabbit song
Casualty - Kopecky Family Band ~ I used to listen to this song when I was in middle school and I still like it sooooo yeah.
I Won’t Let Go - The Brother’s Bright
Machine - MisterWives ~ This is one of my sister’s favorite songs and I just happen to like it too lol
Everything That Dies ~ Matthew and the Atlas
I Will Never Die - Delta Rae ~ This song sounds like a Witches chant and it’s amazing.
AND EVERY SINGLE SILLY SONG!
Basically I have too many favorite songs lol
Also if one of the links don’t work for any reason feel free to tell me so I can fix it.

Alive
Alright, warning: Spoilers for this entire au cuz this blog is like dead and I also gave up towards the end, so parts of it are half-assed. I wrote this a while back and the real reasons I’m posting this is because 1) like I said before, this blog is dead 2) I’m writing a part two that someone might ACTUALLY LIKE and 3) eh.
Original song: ‘Alive’ sang by David Hasselhoff from the musical ‘Jekyll and Hyde’
(yes, ik fiend doesnt rhyme with hyde, but shh
Without further adieu, please try not to cringe at this! (~Mod Laf)
The whispers were filling his head while shadows clouded his vision. The whispers began laughing. Laughing and laughing like hyenas and clawing up his body and wrapping around his arms to keep him from moving and they took a vice grip on his neck-
Thomas gasped sharply, trying desperately to breathe. One shadow, larger and more menacing than the rest, was before him.
“Give up.”
Its voice held the cruelty of some sick mixture of Hitler, Trump, and the Devil himself. He wanted to tell it ‘No’- he wanted to resist more, but his body was growing numb. The shadow smiled deviously as Thomas began to cough up some strange black ooze.
“You’re mine now, space boy.”
The tortured man’s agonized scream was cut off by him and the shadows disappearing from sight. John was the first one up and running into the hallway in the direction of the scream, the rest of the team close behind. The window at the end of the hallway was, rather eerily, open and the five remaining men wasted no time in suiting up and splitting up to scour the city for the missing friend.
-
Meanwhile, on top of a random roof in the city, 'Dusk' groaned audibly as he got to his knees. After a few moments of studying himself, he laughed aloud, the sound boomed as he guffawed. “What is this feeling of power and drive I’ve never known? I feel alive!” He threw his arms up in the air, stumbling back when he sprang to his feet in cheer. “Where does this feeling, of power derive, making me know why I’m alive?”
“Like the night it’s a secret;” he spun around, getting used to standing and not floating, “Sinister, dark, and unknown. I do not know what I seek-” Walking to the edge of the roof, he spread his arms out wide, “-yet… I’ll seek it alone!” The last word rang out into the night while he leaped down onto the next roof.
Dusk had some subtle changes to Thomas; His sclera was black and the iris resembled a nebula, shifting between shades of inky purple to hot pink; Not to mention the unnerving grin on his face.
“I have a thirst that I cannot deprive,” he grabbed a street light and swung around it, “never have I felt so alive!” People were looking up at him in confusion and awe, but he was too in awe himself to take notice or to even care. “There is no battle I couldn’t survive! Feeling like this- Feeling alive!”
Dusk summoned his crooked staff to hook onto the top of the street light and pulled himself up. “Like the moon, an enigma; Lost and alone in the night.” Standing on the very top of the street light, he glared up at the sky that was darkening (mostly likely a storm brewing from Lafayette’s fear of losing his brother again) with gray clouds. “Damned by some heavenly stigma, but blazing with light!” He sang aloud, arms open, and let himself fall backward. Citizens were terrified, and even more so when the strange man disappeared from sight after dissolving into shadows.
Once again on top of a building, much higher than the last, his form changed more. “It’s the feeling of being alive! Filled with evil, but truly alive!” (idk how to describe his look, so i’ll just say he looks the same cuz why the fuck not)It was Thomas’s normal suit, but the wood of the cane turned to black, “It’s the truth that cannot be denied! It’s the feeling of being Dusk the fiend…”
He laughed as he dissolved into shadows once more. While he was moving, he noticed a familiar face, “Wait, my toy? Sweet boy, I thought I had lost you,” he said quietly, licking his lips. Lafayette, unaware of his stalker, kept walking as he looked around frantically for Thomas, “It’s fate, what joy, sweet boy. Your folly will cost you, dear, my dear. You’ll see- You’ll never escape me… I’m here. I fear, that you will pay dear, my dear…”
The oblivious Marquis entered a shadier part of the city. He wasn’t that fearful, for he knew his power could easily defeat hooligan. Little did he know, he was actually searching for the very person to be afraid of. The area lacked the traffic, city lights, and even the bright colors of the main part of New York. Lafayette shuddered eeriness, but it wasn’t until he heard the faint nearby growling did he hear his heart beating.
He whipped around in the direction he heard the noise. Curiosity reigning over his fear, he moved closer, but stayed on his toes. At first, he calmed, thinking it was a dog… yet the glowing eyes in the alleyway told him otherwise. The Frenchman took a tentative step back, swords now in hand. This was no hooligan, and he knew it. The glowing pair of eyes locked with his and even through the black mist Lafayette could see it smile wickedly. He started running, heart thumping, breath quickening, mind racing- Before he could speed forward, he was tripped.
“Animal trapped behind bars at the zoo,” Dusk tried strike him in the head with his staff, “need to run rampant and free!” Lafayette grunted, but thankfully rolled onto his back to block the staff with his swords crossed. The possessed man kicked him in the side, “Predators live on the prey they pursue!” The swords clattered to the ground and Lafayette’s teleportation attempt was cut off by being thrown like a rag doll, “This time the predator’s me!”
Lafayette hit the wall of building, and the wind was knocked out of him. Crumbling to the ground, he coughed up some blood and weakly pushed himself up onto arms to glare up at Dusk. “Thomas…” he mumbled as a shadow was cast over him.
“Lust like a raging desire fills my whole soul with its curse,” Dusk grabbed the Frenchman by the collar as Lafayette tried one last attempt to teleport, “Burning with primitive fire-” it worked, “berserk and perverse!” but the course changed do to his weakened state and added person.
They ended up in the Manhattan. Times Square, to be exact. People and cars moved started to move to stay back but also crowd around the dueling pair as Dusk dropped Lafayette on the ground and floated high above him. “Tonight I’ll plunder heaven blind, steal from all the gods!” Symbols appeared below Laf and he was chained by the hands. Hardly a second passed before Lafayette screamed in agony. “Tonight I’ll take from all mankind, conquer all the odds!” Alex, James, Aaron and John were now on their way over, for they had been called by Hercules on the situation.
Lafayette was barely hanging on to consciousness when he was lifted up again. “And I feel I’ll live on forever,” he gave a feeble glare when Dusk cupped his cheek, “with Satan himself by my side!” Suddenly, Thomas and… whatever it was- were separated from each. The black misty mass continued to grow and rise while Thomas wrapped his brother into a hug and stammering apologies. “And I’ll show the world that tonight and forever the name to remembers the name Dusk the fiend!” Their four friends watched in horror as the mass swirled around the twins.
“No…” was all Aaron could say as the tears ran down his cheeks.
“Thomas… Laf…” James added softly.
Alex gripped his scythe tighter “This can’t be happening. WHAT is happening?!”
John placed a hand on Alexander’s shoulder, “Whatever is going on,” he summoned his whip, “we’ll stop it.”
(Sorry for the cliché folks)
There was a dim light from within the dark cloud of shadow, then it gradually grew brighter. Two pairs of arms and eyes, and wicked smile were the first things anyone could make out. “What a feeling to be so alive! I have never seen me so alive!” The figure emerged from the blackness and peered down at the remainder of the group with an imposing stature. “Such a feeling of evil inside- That’s the feeling of being Dusk the fiend!!”
The god fusion clusterfuck summoned their weapon, a double-headed spear, “With this feeling of being alive, there’s a new world I see come alive!” People were running for their lives as the ground was ripped apart, “It’s a truth that can not be denied!” They made a throne out of the tiles on the ground and sat down, “There’s no feeling like being Dusk the fiend!!!” They held the last note as they kicked their feet up on the arm of the throne they had created and crossed them.
It was time for the group’s biggest battle yet.

Father
John
Misty
Where oh where do I begin? I try not to pick favorites, in anything I do. I think picking favorites sets people up for failure. I figure there will be one day another candidate outshines the favorite, resulting in disappointment. But fuck it, Father John Misty is my favorite. And I trust it because there is virtually nothing he can do wrong that would take that title away- and he does a lot of textbook things “wrong”.
Josh Tillman stole my heart when I heard “I’m Writing a Novel” on WFUV Radio when I was in college (around 2012) Not knowing much about him personally, I started listening to “Fear Fun” and fell in love with his music. “Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings” and “Everyman Needs a Companion” landed every mixed CD (yep, still made CDS in 2012) and I decided to dig a little deeper and actually check the dude out. WOAH he’s hot! WAIT he was in Fleet Foxes? OMG he has the exact the type of humor that I adore, equal parts witty, snarky and dark. Fuck, he has a girlfriend. I’m absolutely done, they’re getting married. I can’t remember a time I fell so hard for an artist post-emo/punk/highschool days (Think Gerard Way and Travis Barker).
However, I’m really fucking glad he was and is in such a beautiful relationship because thats how his sophomore album came to be. i wasn't sure If I’d ever love an album as much as “Fear Fun” but lo & behold: “I Love You, Honeybear” took & continues to take the damn cake. Has there ever been an album (albeit, Rumours) that has described love so honestly? It talks about the honeymoon phase in depth, the ga-ga feelings and pedestals that we put our partners on in the beginning. The way new love helps us start to feel creative again, or creative in a new, fresh way. And then after time, how love can start to get a little paranoid and jealous. It’s messy, it’s raw and it sort of made me hate his beloved Emma (who eats bread & butter like like a queen would have ostrich and cobra wine. Listen if you don't get the reference but also stop talking to me: https://open.spotify.com/track/2eg2gvPXuwZ9FyrPaLgrXi) Could you I-M-A-G-I-N-E having someone write you a love song such as that? Fun fact, I heard this song for the first time freshly after ending a 4 year relationship. Bad timing? Nah, it actually was so beautiful and uplifting that the song gave me hope and made me feel secure that I haven't found the right person yet and that I didn't just lose that person (burn). It gave me hope that I’d eventually meet someone that I could picture having a satanic christmas eve with or dance around to a mariachi band with. Spoiler Alert: FJM did help me find love. I will get to that at the end. Any who, this album ruled and continue to rules my world. The title track “I Love You, Honeybear” is about taking on the shitastic world we live in with someone you love. “Bored in the USA” is about the absurdities within our pop culture and the bullshit promise of the American Dream gone wrong. The album as a whole is romantic and existentialist and I am 100%AboutThat.com
And then we were gifted “Pure Comedy”. I write that with a sigh. Not because I am disappointed but because It’s heavy. It highlights our current political and social climate and it does so in a very dark, darker than usual way. When he realeased the video for title track, “Pure Comedy” a few short months after the election I wept at my desk. The song itself is so eerie and fantastical with the baritone sax wailing the fuck off as Donald Trump’s face slyly pops up. I Think FJM is making the point that everything happening right now is so fucking ugly and wrong that it’s absurdly funny. Not haha-funny, just...funny. As in “something smells funny”, as in our country. He attacks religion, pop-stars (gotcha, Taylor Swift), environmental issues, the delusional lifestyle of LA inhabitants, you name it. But, in true Josh Tillman fashion, and we know theres a big beating heart in there, he ends the album in a hopeful way with “In Twenty Years or So”. In the song, Tillman addresses the cosmic indifference of the universe and the existential fear that comes with it. In the first two verses he sets up the great comedy: That despite all our grand gesturing and philosophizing (with the character of Father John Misty as the embodiment of this behavior), we ultimately don’t matter in the grand scheme of things. Then in the second verse he starts to assign a little more meaning to the chaos.
That in twenty years More or less This human experiment will reach its violent end But I look at you As our second drinks arrive The piano player's playing "This Must Be the Place" And it's a miracle to be alive
I *think* he’s saying, “Look, the world is fucked, we’re only getting worse, it’s too much to handle, but thank god I have you to navigate it with. And we have music, and it really all is amazing, isn't it”. I’m sorry it sounds like a basic Audrey Hepburn wannabe annotation of his beautifully written song, but It comforts me. It’s like a really elongated and philosophic way of saying “All you Need is Love”, but The Beatles beat him to it.
All in all, “Pure Comedy” takes us through a (trippy) walk of life thats starts out as that scene in Willy Wonka where they’re all taking a boat ride through the tunnel of hellish images, to a calm setting where all you want to do is hug the people you love and be left with the simple yet complex thought, “it’s all going to be okay”. Bravo FJM for creating such a mature and powerful album. I think melodically it is not for everyone, as it is much slower that what he’s done. But give it a good listen through and really listen to what he’s saying. If 2017 had to sound like anything (besides screams and tears) it would sound like “Pure Comedy”.
Kk thanks for reading.
OH WAIT, yeah I forgot this is a concert blog. Well! I saw him last night at the Kings Theatre in Flatbush, Brooklyn. A tremendously stunning place to see live music, in my opinion. He played most of “Pure Comedy” straight through, without any speeches or commentary. Nerd moment- I fuuucking love when artists do this with newly released albums. it shows they care about it, it shows they're not just trying to appease the crowd with favorites. It’s saying here is the art i just created and worked on for mad amount of time. Sit the fuck down and experience it. He did every song except the 13 minute “Leaving LA” (good call IMO) and the last two songs, yanno, the uplifiting ones. Then halfway through he broke out the oldies, a couple from “Fear Fun” and a bunch from “I Love You, Honeybear”. The whole theater was standing and dancing and watching HIM dance and holy shit I love when tall lanky men swivel their hips. Probably one of the best parts about seeing Father John Misty live is watching him break it down. He was even slow dancing with himself at one point during “Strange Encounter” and i was both turned on and hysterically laughing. One interesting point to make was that he was oddly quiet. He’s known for long on-stage rants, whether they're actually anger driven or just a comedy bit- they usually always show up on Pitchfork the next day. This was my third time seeing him and i’ve had the pleasure of hearing some of those rants and raves. This time he was quiet, appreciative and...mature? IDK I really liked it. I think it mimicked the seriousness of his newest album and demanded that you pay attention to the music and what it’s trying to say. I noticed a bunch of Brooklyn bros at the end of the show making comments like “he wasn't that funny!” “I thought he was going to talk more” and thats fine, but maybe consider why that is. After he came back on for his encore he played the last two songs on “Pure Comedy” and ended on a very special and postive note with a v sweet sun and moon setting in the background. Father John Misty is giving us hope.
Also I felt this deserved it’s own paragraph but his band absolutely blew me away. I would 100% go see them live without vocals. He had an entire orchestra + five piece band. Another additive to the experience compared to past Father John Misty concerts, as he’s always played with just a 5 piece band. It made the album come alive in the most spectacular way.
All in all, he is still my favorite. I hope to see much more from him in the future because I think he has a really really good thing going on on all levels. So back on the topic on Father John Misty and hoping to find love. JOSH, BABE. if you ever see this, I owe you some thanks. If it weren't for you and if it weren't for Tinder syncing my Facebook page likes, I never would have matched with my current partner whom we both share a massive and almost grotesque love for you & we wouldn't have anything to talk about on our first date, or a an album to makeout to for the first time. so really, thanks. At the risk of sounding like a cheese dick, It’s amazing to me that your song, the one that gave me hope and an idea of an ideal partner, led me to so much happiness. Awwwww.
Steam “Pure Comedy” & go through an existential crisis, today! https://open.spotify.com/album/3CoFoDt6zt5EKxmTpOX32b
