What's going on in the doodles you posted of Gary, Michael, and bristly I guess
I'm going with the assumption that you're talking about the doodles where Bristly is holding Michael upside down in front of Gary. Pics and description below the cut.
These were a series of doodles I did while messing arorund with a few different ideas back some time in June I think.
The general premise is that about a month into Bristly's reign, Gary finally had enough & managed to split from his group. He managed by himself for a couple of days before Bristly decided to take Michael away from Lauren and toss him in with Gary instead. Literally for the drama of it all.

Here, in an old house Gary's bunkered himself in, Bristly drops Michael down with not much warning other than "new playmate for you."
It's very awkward, they haven't seen each other in a month, they didn't really leave off on the best terms, and it seems like Bristly knew that well enough to concoct a perfectly tense & weird amount of friction between them to boot.

Here, Gary is a bit wary of Michael's sudden appearance, not having been subjected to much to Bristly's dollhouse-like games yet. It's confusing and unnerving, but more than anything it's just... uncomfortable, because all Bristly does for a good several minutes is keep Michael hanging there. Like. Gary isn't sure how he can help, but he also shouldn't just walk away either, so... Yeah just. Awkward o<o

Eventually though, after conversation runs dry and Michael seems to be getting light headed, Bristly lets him go to "let you [two] have fun alone together."

This sudden action kicks Gary into alert, whips out his switchblade defensively, to which Bristly's like oh yeah so scared lol. Anyway *goes up*

Gary knows by now Bristly will never be a battle he can beat on his own, so he gives it a rest. Has to come to terms with the fact that someone is with him again, and that that someone is a guy whom of which he's had a rather intimately awkward encounter with, not all that long ago either. 😳 yes, like that.

He's quick to diss Bristly once he's no longer breathing down their necks, and they can relate for a moment that they both very much dislike the guy. Obviously.

Gary's not so welcoming to Michael though, would rather be alone, tries to remain dismissive and distant like always. Barely 5 minutes alone with Gary and Michael's already like. Upset. And in his head rn he's like wow this is gonna be so awesome.

Gary leaves to another room to let Michael adjust on his lonesome. Out of frame Michael is looking up to the hole in the ceiling Bristly left from, and Bristly is still peeking out to watch. So Michael isn't keen on staying in this room either.

Andddd the only direction he can go to evade Bristly's watchful eyes is the same way Gary went. So yeah. This'll all end up swell for them!!!! (thats his hopeless sarcasm)
That's all I have on these doodles. You can tell by the last several panels I sorta ran out of steam ^^;. Honestly a lot of what I wanted to draw was just that first panel, I wanted to draw Michael upside down and nervous, and I wanted to draw Gary's hair swoop growing out just slightly. Better cut that bitch soon before it turns back into a swirl, dude!!!

"from evan's side, I believe in this more familial way, but from ryan's side, you can see that it's not quite like that, since at any opportunity he sexualizes evan in his series. kai for example, has some lines that seem to be a fetish of ryan, the "straight" guy who fucks his gay friends"
I dont really agree with that cause for me Ryan treats Evan also like a family member. Well maybe not fully cause he doesnt really care much about him and is friend with his abuser but the way he looks at him i dont see anything sexual. After evan won he looked proud of him also at dahmer panels maybe little concerned about him and in general happy and proud they worked together so many years and Evan is such talented actor. He pust those sexual scenes and nudes in the series but he did that with other actors and series before too. Also in ahs like for example with lady gaga in hotel. I think he is aware that nudity and sex brings audience and also that evan is attractive and have many fans. In murder house he didint really have such scenes but for example alexandra had. But then lot of girls showed their love for tate and evan so he noticed and started giving more sexy scenes with him. And i dont think anythinh sexual ever happend between them. Evan really treats him like family and have trust for him. If something happened he would feel used and distanced I think
i certainly hope that is the case. i mean, i don’t trust evan to cast aside someone mistreating him in any way because he’s never shown himself capable of that, and it’s a complicated dynamic when you’re close with someone who is also essentially an employer, but i would prefer to believe that it’s simply a familial dynamic that exists between them both.

Cousin S. [Sarah] wants me to go with her to Brussels, Antwerp and through Holland. I think if it will be but an eight day trip that I will go with her though I hate to waste time. I have concluded to go to Paris for a month or two, the 15th May, enter an Atelier and draw at the same time make sketches at the Louvre and Luxemburg (1) as I wont be able to see good pictures at home it will be well for me to see as much as possible of them here. I am painting two pictures here and when they are finished I shall leave. Miss Cassatt has not yet decided when she will go. We were at Batbizon last week but she was not pleased with the Master she intended taking. You can imagine the horror we were seized with on hearing he painted without models, a sort of french Rothermel. Of course he dont draw well and though a very celebrated painter would not be good as a master on that account. He is one of the Best of the school of Barbizon and was engaged painting a fat pig being led to slaughter. The school there is composed entirely of landscape painters contrary to that of Ecouen who are all figure and interior painters. Though at the former they also paint figures and interior painters. Though at the former they also paint figures and animals out of doors. Mary is very anxious to learn the style and it is very fine. Troyon was at the head of it when he was living,(2) and it is the most original manner of painting in regard to subject now in existance, for none of the old masters ever did any thing like it. It is entirely French though the Germans are trying it a little but do not suceed so well. There have been a great many of them well known Breton, Millais Troyen Jaque are the principal(3). At the inn at Barbizon the landlady has taken a novel way of having her debts paid, viz making the Artists paint her pictures when they owe her. She has her rooms arranged with panels everywhere and on each has been painted a picture some of them very good, in one room all the furniture is painted over the doors of the high clothes presses and sideboards sides of tables & everything. There has been a great deal of ingenuity shown in the rames of the pictures, the long narrow places above the doors and sometimes in a corner by a window the narrow upright places. Those latter usually filled by a mountain excursion, the former a horserace. I have not had news of my picture yet nor will not till I go to Paris, it was a girl pealing potatoes, romantic was'nt it?(4) The background was a bufet full of dishes it is an Ecouen subject, but when I can paint I shall do something better. 1. The Palais du Luxembourg, built by Marie de Médicis in 1615 and enlarged in the nineteenth century, housed the French government's collection of works by living artists and served as a museum of modern art.
2. Constant Troyon (1813-1865) was a well-known landscape and animal painter. He was given a large retrospective exhibition in Paris in 1866.
3. Jules Adolphe Breton (1827-1906), who had been trained at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, painted landscape and genre subjects. He achieved great success in the 1860s; in 1867 he was made an officer of the Légion d'Honneur and was awarded a first-class medal at the Exposition Universelle.
Jean Francois Millet (1814-1875) (Haldeman has confused him with the English painter John Everett Millais) had a difficult beginning until he settled in Barbizon in 1849 to paint in monumental peasant scenes. OF REDEMPTIONS AND ATONEMENTS:
We all been knew, man. We all knew this was coming.
And godDAMN does it fucking HURT. (oh the sweet sweet angstfest this whole chapter is, just *chef's kiss*)
But i legit cannot put into words how deep the choice to 'Atone' cuts on my bleeding bkdk heart. Let's first take a step back and see how Katsuki went from DvK2 to here- that one keystone moment that has given us this beautiful chapter: And I meant ALLLL the way back to Chap. 252

TL;DR Katsuki was actually paying real close attention to Endeavour in this part. He came to Endeavour to learn exactly what he was missing as a Hero, but he learnt so much more.
This scene in particular left a momentous impact on Kacchan. Here, Natsuo is resistant to the idea of forgiving his father for all his sins just because he is more involved in their lives now. And Endeavour had been dreaming for a while about a Home where he is not present with the rest of the Todoroki's which ultimately gave him the idea of buying a house for the others to live in apart from him. This is HUGE. This is what actually drove Endeavour's Redemption home- the perfect understanding and the perfect compensation, the two elements of a brilliant Redemption Arc. NOT THE FORGIVENESS, just as Enji says it. It is NEVER ABOUT THE FORGIVENESS.
Endeavour understood that it was his presence that caused his family distress, and although he dearly wanted to be a part of his family again, was even making efforts towards it by being cordial and accepting of Shouto's friends, inviting them to a family dinner, etc. etc. Endeavour realized the only way he can compensate/atone was to give up something that would cause him suffering, and them happiness. The idea that your family doesnt want you, when you just started to show some effort and HOPE that they might see you in different light, maybe forgive you and then to just terminate those ties entirely, punting yourself into a void where NO ONE CAN COME IN AND SAVE YOU FROM YOUR SUFFERING, is exactly what Endeavour did. He is actively shutting down the ONE window through which his family could see that he was suffering, and miserable, and wanted to be a part of the family again. Endeavour CHOSE to not be forgiven. To writhe with the knowledge of his sins day in and day out with only the shrine of Dabi Touya to haunt him every waking minute.
I cannot explain just how much determination it takes to do that, man. It's just- WOW.
Excuse me for ranting on Endeavour in a bkdk post, but I swear this has a point. And All Might says this the best:

This is the fanlation, the official release (which I couldnt get my hands on) also mentions that "When I meant you were like Endeavour, I meant the Change"
This here is an important bit that AM has caught onto.
In the 252 panel, where Endeavour says 'It's not like I want forgiveness' (Because Endeavour understands he cannot be, should not be, forgiven) "I just want to make up for everything I have done" (and to back this up, Endeavour shuts down the one communication link that could have offered him forgiveness, and thus salvation from the weight of his sins and his guilt)
Katsuki understood Endeavour's idea of redemption very well here, although he might not be shown with that light-bulb moment. He may have already known this wayyy before Endeavour said anything, but those words lent a solidity and to the path he must persue to acheive redemption: And it's Not forgiveness.
Let me tell you why I think Atonement is the greater factor here, even greater than Redemption itself. Redemption has an end-point: Forgiveness. But Atonement doesn't. Atonement has no expiry date. Atonement is purely propelled by the understanding of self, and the weight of guilt the self bears, whereas a Redemption is All About The Forgiveness.
Forgiveness is an external force, it may or may not be given to you and that is completely up to the person who has been wronged. Atonement is self-imposed, it is a meditation of the soul to forgive itself against the guilt it carries.
If Redemption is a marathon with a banner at the finish line, Atonement is trying to drag a twenty pounds of rocks through the Sahara desert without water, food or a compass- it's endless, hopeless.
And this is why Atonement is greater than Redemption.
And do you think someone as stubborn as Kastuki will ever find himself atoned of his deeds? No. And That, my friends, is The Point. In 252, when Endeavour says, "I dont want forgiveness" it's not just him saying it- it's also Katsuki. "I just want to make it upto you", is also Katsuki.
And to prove it, Katsuki will never ask for forgiveness. A verbal apology will be nice, sure. Especially since dumb-ass, gay-ass, 'Kacchan-sugoi' ass Izuku Doesn't even See it as Atonement. He is just #Blessed that Kacchan and he can talk almost-naturally again. And that is also Katsuki's intention- because the moment Izuku knows, he won't be able to atone this way anymore.
So, as much as I HATE to say this, the chances of a voluntary verbal apology are slim. If allowed to go on like this, Kacchan with continue to shadow Izuku through his life, worrying about him, LOSING SLEEP OVER HIM :

Forever, he hopes, it takes-
Because the only way he will stop is in death, either his own or Deku's.
This is his Atonement: To undo everything he once did, to support Izuku's dream instead of squashing it; To help him get stronger instead of perpetuating the narrative on his weakness; To protect him from all harm, when he once hurt; To be on his side when the whole world is against him, because once he was all, but, for him; To save Izuku as he wins, to win as he saves.
And, To deny each oppurtunity of forgiveness even as he desperately longs to be unburdened of his guilt.
Because Katsuki knows:

He knows Izuku is that one of a million, he is kind and humble and considerate and loving to a fault.
Katsuki knows that Izuku will forgive him in a heartbeat. That is just the kind of selfless, beautiful person he is.
Unlike Endeavour, who had no guarantee to forgiveness, Katsuki does. And that is what makes Katsuki's Atonement more powerful than Endeavour's. He recognizes it is in his grasp, just an arm's length away...

And Katsuki will deny himself that. Because he does not believe he deserves it. He hasn't atoned enough for it.
"Keep At Arm's Length"
He says. Because this is the critical distance between them. Not "Stay an arm's length away", because Katsuki doesn't wanna run away from Deku, and he doesn't want to be too far away to protect him, nor does he want to get too close to finally recieve the forgiveness that will give him salvation.
This is the fine balancing act Katsuki must maintain indefintely till he believes he has acheived his idea of atonement. (And when has he ever been happy just the bare minimum?)
I know I said Katsuki will never ask for forgiveness, and a voluntary verbal apology is very unlikely, because in it's very nature, it is inviting a forgiveness from Izuku, which we have established, Katsuki wants to avoid. And if this were any other manga, we would have been doomed to this conclusion. But, there is a scenario when Katsuki might issue a verbal apology and that is when Katsuki knows there isn't enough time to be forgiven in turn, or, hasn't atoned enough and can no longer continue to.
Like when Katsuki launches off, to deliver a final kamikaze blow to a villain, and he has only enough time to tell Deku a short "I am sorry", but not enough time to wait for a reply. Or when Deku is dying and at his final moments, when Katsuki knows however much he has atoned isn't enough and isn't how Deku should leave, without closure.
Whatever the future may hold, my dear readers, Katsuki still has a long, long way to go. And I hope to see him live through everything, to be there -
To survive these wars with Deku, To fight alongside him, To protect him. To win. To save.
To Live.
To hear Deku say "I had forgiven you a long time ago";
and ofcourse,
To forgive himself.

10 Anti LO Asks
1. I do not get why the colors are so oversaturated. persephone is so hard to even look at because she's just one shade of neon pink, and it really doesnt help rachel seems to think dull backgrounds help? that only makes the contrast even more intense and makes it even harder to look at. there used to be such a strong grasp of color harmony but that's been gone for so long now that I doubt it'll ever come back. Even her non-comic art now is the overly bright, wonky style. What a downgrade.
2. I don't get why we're supposed to be against Minthe when she once slapped Hades (which came out of nowhere and is OOC) yet we're supposed to laugh at Hekate slapping him during a moment which seems to imply it's a common occurrence between the two. Surely his "best friend" wouldn't physically assault him in the same way that sours his relationship to another person for good right? RS flip flops a lot on what's ok for some but bad for others, but the anti Minthe angle for everything is ridiculous
3. I dount RS even knows she's doing this but the fact her Persephone is idolized for her youth/beauty/fertility and nothing else (especially compared to older women like Demeter, Leto, Minthe, etc who "lost it" when they got older or ever had those "desired" traits to begin with) has deeply misogynistic implications to it. RS can claim all she wants it's a pro feminist story, but even a basic look into it makes it seem like it's a very regressive, conservative piece masquerading as "progressive"
4. I feel like no one really talk about how the actual SA in comic was depicted really voyeuristically? Like there's so many panels of her being groped and emphasizing her body, still always making a point to show how "sexy" she while she's literally being assaulted. It doesn't help afterwards the comic again and again makes a point of sexualizing her (esp from Hades' POV) w/o her consent. RS says she wants to give her "agency", but she sure seems determined to make sure Persephone never has it.
From OP: I can’t really see the SA scene as sexualized. I think I get what you’re referring to but I think it’s just meant to show what Apollo was doing which makes it more disturbing to read. I do agree with the rest though.
5. It's so stupid how fast RS reverses any stakes in comic, making any sort of tension just non existent. just off the characters who were shown to dislike hades/be disapproving of him wanting to get with persephone (hera, eros, hekate, etc) they just get over it in about an hour, maybe a day at most to now blindly support it ad want them together. like seriously? RS is trying to sell us theyre a couple going against all the odds when only like, two people don't approve. what are they overcoming?
6. any LO theory we see now is just people debating on how, when, and how many babies persephone will give hades and that's about it. does she really have nothing else going for her beyond what she can give to a man who is doing nothing to accommodate or compromise for her? Does her sexual trauma not matter when Hades needs babies? Oh, and PS to any LO fas reading this, Hades and Persephone didn't have kids in the myths, especially not Dionysus. JFC.
7. Something that gets overlooked i feel is that despite Hera being the worst to Minthe, Minthe still told her friend not to mess with Hera when Thetis was sending dick pics to Hera. TO ADD SALT TO THAT HERA WAS KISSING HADES right after their fight and probably sometime when Minthe and hades were together.
I’m not saying Minthe is a done nothing wrong character but she is a far more likeable character than the cast members were supposed to be rooting for
8. what I dont get is you get lo fans saying it has to be uncritically praised because "we need a woman's voice to be heard!" like ... ok, lets hear what actual greek women have to say on the mythology and raise them up, not some random new zealander who is butchering a real country's culture and stories to tell her weird 50 shades/sleeping beauty rip off. idk how to tell them making a privileged white lady even richer with her capitalist bootlicking, status quo praising work isnt subversive lmao
9. What I find frustrating is LO fans say the art decline is just "style progression" and the culture of webcomics is more about speed but 1) stop marketing it off its "great art" then of it doesnt match up but 2) that undersells how many other webtoon creators, often just by themselves, create beautiful episodes every week while rachel has a 4-5 art team and its only gotten worse in quality. Objectively she has become a worse artist. especially when you see her older art. It's harsh but true.
10. I think some people act as if it's impossible to put "contradictory" colors next to each but that's not the case, it just requires a little more work. Case in point, the idea of Persephone with red eyes isn't inherently bad, the problem is it's very obvious Rachel just picks colors at random instead of googling color palettes (and yes, pink and red can work!), hence why it looks bad. It's actually possible to pair basically every color together, but Rachel just doesn't put the effort into it.

Has GRRM ever said in any interview or on his blog that he hates Sansa's complete storyline after 4th season? I dont really follow all of his fan/media interactions but from what I can recall he has spoken abt how LF in books wont give sansa to ramsay or how noone had issue when Jeyne was given the Ramsay storyline in books etc. Asking this question to you bcs you rightly point out how ppl misunderstood his interviews/posts ( sansans/targ stans etc) & I cant recall him ever saying he 'hates' sansa's story in the later seasons of the show ( not s5 in particular but even s6 to s8).
Capclave 2013:
A change that has repercussions for season 4 is Marillion’s tongue removal from the first season. Martin said that the change was made (from an anonymous singer being the victim of a de-tonguing) because they wanted Joffrey to maim someone the audience would recognize. He believes this is an issue because of the part the singer plays in Sansa’s storyline, how he affects her interactions with others in the book, and he doesn’t believe another character will be fulfilling that role on Game of Thrones.

In a convention panel this year, George said on the record that he had no idea what they were doing with Sansa or where they’re taking her storyline, which now makes sense perhaps. He was not pleased when he was talking about it, so who knows what’s going to happen with her! Knowing GRRM, that could mean they’re going off the canon reservation, and/or that they’re going to be making a lot of shit up

GRRM’s comments at capclave about Sansa (which I was in the third row for, for those asking about legitimacy) were among others during the panel that had a general theme of dissatisfaction with show changes. He was not in good spirits for that con and didn’t really have anything positive to say regarding the show. So take it with a grain of salt; there are deviations away from the books in the episodes he gets writers credit for, so maybe they’re doing something stupid or they really don’t have a gameplan!

How many children did Scarlett O’Hara have? Three, in the novel. One, in the movie. None, in real life: she was a fictional character, she never existed. The show is the show, the books are the books; two different tellings of the same story.
There have been differences between the novels and the television show since the first episode of season one. And for just as long, I have been talking about the butterfly effect. Small changes lead to larger changes lead to huge changes. HBO is more than forty hours into the impossible and demanding task of adapting my lengthy (extremely) and complex (exceedingly) novels, with their layers of plots and subplots, their twists and contradictions and unreliable narrators, viewpoint shifts and ambiguities, and a cast of characters in the hundreds.
There has seldom been any TV series as faithful to its source material, by and large (if you doubt that, talk to the Harry Dresden fans, or readers of the Sookie Stackhouse novels, or the fans of the original WALKING DEAD comic books)… but the longer the show goes on, the bigger the butterflies become. And now we have reached the point where the beat of butterfly wings is stirring up storms, like the one presently engulfing my email.
Prose and television have different strengths, different weaknesses, different requirements.
David and Dan and Bryan and HBO are trying to make the best television series that they can.
And over here I am trying to write the best novels that I can.
And yes, more and more, they differ. Two roads diverging in the dark of the woods, I suppose… but all of us are still intending that at the end we will arrive at the same place.
In the meantime, we hope that the readers and viewers both enjoy the journey. Or journeys, as the case may be. Sometimes butterflies grow into dragons.

In the books, Ramsay marries and assaults Sansa’s best childhood friend, Jeyne Poole—who is being forced to impersonate Arya—instead. (You can actually see Jeyne briefly sitting next to Sansa in the show’s pilot.)
At the time Martin wrote this script, though, substituting Sansa for Jeyne was not yet the plan. Martin has Roose Bolton tell his bastard son: “We have a much better match in mind for you. A match to help House Bolton hold the north. Arya Stark.” It should be noted, however, that in Martin’s script, Sansa isn’t free from menace either. At his own wedding-day breakfast, Joffrey still threatens to rape the older Stark sister—once he’s “gotten Margaery with child.”)

Sansa’s story, in particular, has really deviated from the books. Ramsay Bolton — that marriage obviously was with a different character. When they start deviating like that, did you initially have any emotional reaction, even though you worked in Hollywood for many years yourself?
GRRM: Well, yeah — of course you have an emotional reaction. I mean, would I prefer they do it exactly the way I did it? Sure. But I’ve been on the other side of it, too. I’ve adapted work by other people, and I didn’t do it exactly the way they did it, so ….
Some of the deviation, of course, is because I’ve been so slow with these books. I really should’ve finished this thing four years ago — and if I had, maybe it would be telling a different story here. It’s two variations of the same story, or a similar story, and you get that whenever anything is adapted. The analogy I’ve often used is, to ask how many children did Scarlett O’Hara have? Do you know the answer to that?

GRRM: Three children in the book, one by each husband. She had one child in the movie. And in real life, of course, Scarlett O’Hara had no children, because she never existed. Margaret Mitchell made her up. The book is there. You can pick it up and read Mitchell’s version of it, or you can see the movie and see David Selznick’s version of it. I think they’re both true to the spirit of the work, and hopefully that’s also true of Game of Thrones on one hand, and A Song of Ice and Fire on the other hand.

GEORGE R. R. MARTIN: Jeyne Poole was included in the pilot—she’s shown giggling next to Sansa—but she’s never seen or referred to again. I actually wrote Jeyne into “The Pointy End,” my first script, when Arya killed the stableboy. I had some stuff with Jeyne running to Sansa being all hysterical and dialogue in the council chamber with Littlefinger saying, “Give her to me, I’ll make sure she doesn’t cause any trouble.” That was dropped.
DAVID BENIOFF: Sansa is a character we care about almost more than any other. We really wanted Sansa to play a major part in that season. If we were going to stay absolutely faithful to the book, it was going to be very hard to do that. There was a subplot we loved from the books, but it was a character not involved in the show.
GEORGE R. R. MARTIN: I was trying to set up Jeyne for her future role as the false Arya. The real Arya has escaped and is presumed dead. But this girl has been in Littlefinger’s control for years, and he’s been training her. She knows Winterfell, has the proper northern accent, and can pose as Arya. Who the hell knows what a little girl you met two years ago looks like? When you’re a lord visiting Winterfell, are you going to pay attention to the little kids running around? So she can pull off the impersonation. Not having Jeyne, they used Sansa for that. Is that better or worse? You can make your decision there. Oddly, I never got pushback for that in the book because nobody cared about Jeyne Poole that much. They care about Sansa.

Theories about new Chapter;
Obviously we all have a lot of questions about the latest chapter and what this all means for the boys. This particular panel threw a lot of people off and for very obvious reasons as its going to change the course of the story quite a lot.

This post is gonna be more focused on Akihito (sorry Asami 🥺), and what happened with him. We are gonna be asking. The WHO, the HOW, the WHY and the RESOLUTION
And we're gonna get to all of that in what will probably be a long post. These are just my personal theories, but this is probably the most cohesive and most convincing theory crafting for what’s to come after that very dramatic episode. 
We are gonna start off with the WHO;
SUDOH AND SAKAZAKI. Period. 
I know everyone has different theories about who is responsible for why Akihito is like this. But I think I'm gonna take the most obvious answer - its fuckin Sudoh. 
I am also inclined to believe chernobog is dead and not involved. It is rare for Sensei to kill people off so unequivocal. The fact that she killed off Yuri and Aaron (#1 and #2) - with no possibly way to return. Sorry I just think they’re organization is just dead. And even if some other faction of chernobog some how came together and regrouped. why in the hell would they work with Sudoh- AGAIN? after he screwed them over, and got all their leaders killed. 
Now there are other villains and suspicious characters, for which we don’t know there involvement. Maxim!? Alex?! Asami’s father?!!?
BUT I don’t think they’re directly involved in what happened to Akihito -and I say directly because they could have been secretly pulling all the strings. or purposely turning a blind eye. Or are otherwise working against Asami in other ways.
But to me I think its pretty clear cut that Sudoh is directly behind Akihito’s brainwashing and there are a ton of pretty explicit clues to that in that very last panel of the chapter where Akihito brandishes the knife. 
Now when that panel came out on the internet- I saw a lot of people saying crazy theories like. It’s not Akihito it’s Sudoh after facial reconstruction. Which is just- no! thats just to crazy. No!
BUT I do think the image is MEANT to invoke Sudoh. I don’t think its a coincidence that Akihito looks like Sudoh.
The way Akihito hair is just a little bit to straight! That evil look in his eyes. His face parallels with this panel below- half the face in darkness. His hair covering one eye, that looks out darkly.
But to me the most blatant and obvious connection, is the very knife Akihito wields. 
The black switch blade. It’s Sudoh’s signature weapon. He’s toting it here in the below images, when he visits Akihito’s dream right before Chernobog attacked the apartment, but he was also using it when he had Akihito captured in the warehouse.

In this other panel of Akihito’s dream, we see the exact same knife but we also see a pretty EXACT parallel to what's happened in the latest chapter. The knife. in the bedroom. cutting a defenseless Asami’s throat. (its like a game of clue)
It’s even a little eerie, in hindsight, that in this panel we coincidentally never see Sudoh face, only his hand. Almost like it could be anyone doing that- Even you Akihito!
But it made me think that Sensei really was doing some foreshadowing and really nothing is a coincidence with her.
Which now leads me to the question of HOW:
Something thats really bothered me about this newest chapter, and something I keep returning to is this- Akihito’s personality, this entire time has been built upon the fact that he is a journalist and truth seeker. 
So what throws me about this particular new direction - is even if Akihito’s memories are gone. Is that part of his personality really gonna go away? I just can’t believe that. Even when he was alone and out of touch - like when he was in the temple- he still couldn’t help but seek information and seek the truth. and even in the face with fear, he usually still seeks answers.
Obviously he might have been tortured for months, and it’s more then possible he did fight, but eventually they snuffed that out of him. And while this is totally possible - I don’t believe that sensei would go THAT dark.
So I'm more inclined to believe that they starve off his curiosity by feeding him lies, half truths, and maybe some partial memories of his life. 
Now imagine this. Tell Akihito basically everything about his life. At the very least, he seems to know they are ‘supposed to be’ lovers given his theatrics before he wields the knife. So tell him that his feelings for Asami where real. But then use all his insecurities about his relationship that we know  know where always there, and that haven’t magically disappeared after their ‘honeymoon’ period on the island. And use half truths and some lies to turn Asami in to the villain. 
When people were using that crazy theory about Sudoh getting facial reconstruction- all I could remember was this exact panel from volume 8. This panel is when Sudoh has Akihito kidnapped in the warehouse. Akihito is thinks about his relationship with Asami, and his fears and insecurities, he say  
“Will I turn out like Sudo?”

It’s not Sudoh magically turning into Akihito. It’s Akihito becoming more like Sudoh. And he’s already shown that he has had that fear. 
Now why does Sudoh hate Asami- The story is obviously a bit more complicated then how Sudoh probably sees himself. But Sudohs feels like he’s been abandoned. That he did everything that Asami ever wanted. That he crossed all the lines. But because he went too far,  and got mixed up with chernobog everything completely collapsed and Asami didn’t ever reward his loyalty with anything meaningful. 
Is it even that hard to convince Akihito that the SAME thing happened to him. Especially if his memories are messed up and he doesn’t have the full picture (hahaha photography puns). It would be pretty easy to convince him that Asami abandoned him to whatever horrible fate that befell him at the hands of Sudoh and Sakazaki.
Something that keeps running in my mind, is the very timely moment Akihito awakes in the hospital after his coma. It’s such a sad use of tragic timing. He is waking up at the same time that Asami is being safely evacuated and rescued by Alex on orders by Maxim. It’s like they’ve just missed each other. 
But I think you can see how it could easily be twisted and made to look as if Asami was leaving behind a comatosed Akihito. Abandoning Akihito when he was at his most vulnerable state. It could easily be twisted into Asami getting whisked away by his men, to some undisclosed location where he's getting top notch care and he never planned on taking Akihito with him. 
Then right when Akihito’s wake. its like they’ve just missed each other, and if Asami had just brought him along then he wouldn’t have fallen in to Sakazaki and Sudoh’s clutches.
And after everything Akihito had just been though. All the lines he had crossed. Shotting at Sudoh, his willingness to KILL for Asami. The lengths he would go to protect Asami. Literally TAKING THE FALL damage for Asami. and using his own body. Just for all those things to be manipulated and twisted into-  Asami never cared about you, you were just his play thing and he left you behind to rot- then yeah. hell yeah thats a Revenge Arch in the making!
Obviously the truth is being distorted, manipulated and twisted in some way by his captors. He doesn’t remember Asami’s confession, or how Asami used his own body to take bullets for him. Or all the other things that Asami has done, or the promises they made to each other on the island
This whole thing reminded me that during the naked truth arc Akihito had no assurances that Asami would rescuing him. He was constantly doubting himself thinking Asami wouldn’t go that far for him. And yet. we also know that some part of him was still holding out hope while he was in Hong Kong, thinking maybe Asami is coming.
Maybe at first he doesn’t believe everything. he fights it, as we know he is a fighter. But the naked truth arc kidnapping was Maybe a month of separation. We are talking about a whole half a year of no rescue, of no word from Asami. of enduring whatever hardships Sudoh and Sakazaki likely did to him. After a while, he might have given up hope entirely and believed that Asami had really left him. 
and y’know we all know Akihito has a bit of Stockholm syndrome. its not that much of a stretch to think after a while he started to agree with his captors and sympathize with them.
I can see that when somehow when word finally reaches that Asami is back and he’s looking for Akihito- I can see that being such salt in the wounds for him. Like he comes now? after all this time, to come in and pretend to be the knight and shining armor. It drives him even more into doing this.
NOW here comes the WHY: 
Well it seems pretty self explanatory why Sudoh would do this. 
I’v said this in other post but I'll say it again. To me what happen to Akihito wasn’t just about one thing- I think a lot of people want to make what happen to Akihito about Asami. That the goal was to assassinate Asami, that he was the intended target, and theres some wider underworld thing happening. When to me- this was very much a personal attack on both of them. 
and when I mean personal I mean personal. it’s not about who’s in charge of the underworld, or someone trying to usurp Asami. this was an attack on them. on their relation. this was an attack meant to hurt both of them in the worst way possible.
hell I dont even think Sudoh did this because he reasonably believed that Akihito could assassinate Asami- BUT y’know it was probably worth a try. And I’m guessing Akihito was eager to do it.
resolution:
I don’t have a real solution- I have no idea what's gonna happen next chapter. But I do have some theories. I think it would be real interesting to have Akihito use his photography and his journalist instincts, that seeking the truth personality of his to find out what really happened and to figure out what the truth is. 
We’ve gotten a lot of volumes recently that revolve around Asami’s world and what's going on in the underworld. So Idk it would be kinda nice to have Akihito getting back to his roots in some ways. 
BUT I’m also like we’re finally kinda getting all these Asami POV (which is nice) and we’ve just learned a bit about Asami’s past so it makes me think that the focus of the next volume is gonna be on Asami more then Akihito. 
But I think whatever the solution is it has to be Akihito getting/finding out the real truth, and probably getting all his memories back. And maybe Asami is the one thats going to give him that, or maybe Akihito has to do it himself and become the focus of his own investigation.

Regarding Mikasa’s ending I’ve pretty much just accepted it. I can understand that her husband (I guess, especially if it’s Jean) would visit the grave with her. I can understand that now maybe the scarf is just something she holds for memory. I can get how the ‘my most beloved’ makes sense because at the time he was buried that was true but that can change now that he’s gone.
The one thing I don’t get is why Mikasa said, ‘see you later.’ I know the Japanese version is ‘itterasshai, Eren.’
Itterasshai (行ってらっしゃい) is the proper phrase to say to the person leaving, often after they announce their departure. It could be directly translated as “go and come back,” but has more of a meaning of: “see you later!”
The nuance of this statement is that the Japanese use this to express their desire that the person leaving will come back home safely, that is why parents/spouses say it to their children/spouse when they leave for the school or work.
Isayama seemed to pick this intentionally over goodbye, I thought, to express Mikasa’s desire to one day be with him at home even if he was leaving now. Now I don’t really think he deserves an afterlife with her (I head cannon they reincarnated into the HS AU so his sins don’t play into it), but it’s her intention that counts.
So I just wonder was that just an elaborate way to say goodbye? But surely Isayama picked that for a reason? It doesn’t make sense to me, considering the extra pages show her married. Now looking back on it with the added pages, do you think maybe it had a different meaning?
Scarf is not something she holds for memories only, but thats something that symbolizes her bond with eren. If it was so silly, then eren wouldn't ever tell her to take it off in the first place. I also wanna say while making these extra pages, isayama says it doesn't change anything we have seen so far so no, eren is still her most beloved the extra pages was focused on them itself. In fact isayama who didn't even bother drawing the man beside her properly, didn't miss the details of his grave in the next panels, that pretty much shows what was his priority and what he intended to mean. Erens significance to mikasa is much greater than just a husband or love interest what so ever, it isn't bound by limits like that. To be the most beloved, you dont need to be a husband, in fact you are underestimating it by saying it because it doesn't work like that, it takes something more. These Feelings, emotions, are not something that comes from fulfilling conditions like being husband or having babies but solely from your heart. It comes naturally. I’m surprised that people to approve of what they have seen in the extra pages, without even context, is ready to change mind on what they were shown so far, for it to make sense. Dont bother. And dont make it contradict what you have seen so far just for the contextless pages to make sense for you when isayama himself said it doesn't change anything. Not all this for a back panel which wasn't even there in the next one. Its you all who are giving it importance, not isayama. But of course anyone is allowed to disappointed or not like the extras but what am saying is, dont twist the whole series for the sake of those extras.
And the "see you later" is pretty evident, that mikasa and erens relationship resolved around home. No matter what they'll return to each other in the end so mikasa doesn't say farewell. Because even if its not possible in the world, it will be in some other realm, they'll reunite. And do you notice you're pretty much trying to twist to many things just for those one panel back man to make sense. Dont lol. Its not that important, in fact that guy was used for em moment. And her relationship with eren isnt as simple as being ber husband, they share more that than and overcame battles together. You remember who you were with during a battle and who gave you the strength and motivation to fight in a battle, who you fought for, not the person who you enjoyed the aftermath of a battle with

i walked into the room and huffed as i took my seat, reaching into my bag for my notebook and a pen. i hated having a 9am again and missed being able to sleep-in like i did last semester. this was the first day though and i was hopeful my mind would change about it as the course went on. it probably wouldnt though. i sat there, catching a few more students walk in as i looked down at my phone.
nothing was too exciting yet and the teacher hadnt even shown up. i was more-so ready for the new art class though. it was my major after all and i was pretty well known by the professors at this point. as i sat there, a loud clatter grabbed my attention, making me look to my right. there was sat a shorter, skinny kid, with long inky black hair tucked under a beanie. my eyes went wide as he cracked the monster in his hand open, pouring it into his half=full trenta cup from Starbucks. he looked over at me and smiled.
"im going to die."
he said in the most sure-fire tone before putting the lid back on the cup and chugging it. i sat there in horror staring at him.
"are you okay?"
i asked and he shrugged, looking at me over the top of the cup. he had the bluest eyes i had ever seen, even in the low light of the art room. i was a little start struck for a second before shaking myself out of my daze, watching him put the cup down against the desk with a thud.
"if i pass out during class just push me out of the way and ill figure something out later."
he said, turning forward. i went to say something just as the teacher walked in.
"y/n! good to see you back. we missed you last semester."
professor crane said, looking to the student teacher as he ducked behind him and paced quickly to the front desk. his gaze followed him too before he shrugged and turned back to me with a smile.
"whatever, im sure he missed you too. but either way its good to have you back in class and i look forward to seeing what you come up with for the showcase in march."
i nodded with a smile before he walked away to the front of the class, instructing everyone to take their seats.
"you come here often?"
i heard from the kid next to me, hearing him laugh to himself as he took another drink of his coffee/monster concoction.
"yes, actually. im an art major."
i said a little dumbfounded. he nodded.
"cool, im here for film."
i drew my brows.
"youre doing film?"
i asked and he winked at me, looking to Brian as he turned the projector on. i opened my mouth before closing it quickly, feeling a little more confused than before.
"alright, first things first. i only make a syllabus because administration says i have to. the schedule is shit and we will most likely be doing something completely different so i suggest you keep a planner or something to keep track of your assignments. secondly, i will get to it later but i want you to start thinking about your projects for the spring showcase in march. we have a few short months so after you learn the basics of form you will be instructed to sketch something in your own style and present it to the board."
my mind went in and out after that, trying to catch quick glances at the kid next to me without being suspicious. every time he moved i could feel my heart pulse, giving me anxiety that he could actually pass out or something.
"y/n, your partner for this project will be mr olson."
brian said, standing over me and looking between the two of us. i nodded with wide eyes as he moved to the two kids behind us.
"guess that means we have pretty high chances at getting an A."
he said, raising his cup in cheers. i looked down at the assignment sheet, grazing over it and groaning. we had to come up with a comic strip in different style parts; the first panel a base sketch, the second panel a hard sketch, the third panel color blocking, and so on. god this was gonna be a nightmare.
"you dont seem too enthused."
the kid said amused. i sent him a testing look.
"im not, ive done something similar before and you have to get every step just right or they take points off. and we have to prove what parts we did."
i said, rolling my eyes. i looked over to him, blinking as a camera flash went off. i drew my brows as he looked down at the screen on it.
"where did you even get that?"
i asked, trying to inspect him. he sent me a smile.
"i always keep it on me. im ricky by the way, and you look great."
he said amused and i breathed deeply.
"y/n."
i said, looking back to the paper.
"well y/n i think this is going to be a great partnership-"
"alright!"
brian called, cutting him off.
"you have your assignments. i have nothing else for you today so you are welcome to either stay here and work until class time is over or you can leave and work on it on your own time. i dont really care either way, just get it done."
i hummed to myself before stuffing my notebook and the assignment sheet into my bag and standing up. i caught a glimpse of ricky starting at me with wide eyes as i turned to leave.
"what are you doing?"
he asked and i looked between him and the door, pointing at it.
"leaving, its not due for another week."
i started off, hearing him shuffle around before chasing after me.
"hey wait! cant we like plan what we're doing or something?"
he asked and i shrugged, looking over to him as he tried to put his paper in his backpack and hold the camera and cup of coffee. i stopped, staring at him as he struggled. i rolled my eyes, taking the cup and the camera from him. he looked to me in shock and i raised my brows.
"get to it, i dont have all day."
i said and he finished what he was doing, zipping his bag up and slinging it over it shoulder. i handed him the cup and camera back and kept walking.
"so uh, what kind of thing did you have in mind for this project?"
he asked and i looked to the sky, squinting but trying to think as we made it outside.
"i dont know, maybe a ball of some kind?"
he raised a brow, shuffling his feet as he tried to keep up with my long strides.
"like masks and large dresses?"
he asked and i nodded, opening the door to dinging hall.
"something like that yeah."
he nodded as i led us to a table.
"that sounds cool, i could get behind that."
i sent him a knowing look.
"you seem like the kind of guy who would."
i said, pulling my sketchpad out. he raised a brow, sitting beside me.
"whats that supposed to mean?"
he asked and i sent him  a look.
"im assuming you like vampires, and the Edwardian thing usually goes hand in hand with that."
he sent me a nervous smile.
"is it that obvious?"
he asked, rubbing his hands against his pants. i nodded.
"thats okay though, cause i like them too. so much so that i have costumes already, we can pose for each other. i think youd look great in this."
i said, sliding my phone across the table to show him the outfit i had for it. i just hoped it would fit him.
"you seem like youve been planning this for a while."
he said through a laugh and i shrugged.
"i just like to feel fancy, the projects on the other hand kind of fall into my lap."
i said, flipping through a few pages in my book. he placed his hand on one before taking it from me and looking over it.
"this looks insane."
he said and i looked around awkwardly.
"in a good way?"
i asked, finding his gaze.
"oh! yeah! of course in a good way. it looks super cool. i see why you wanted to do the ball thing now."
he commented, noting the sketch i had done already that was similar. it is what i was used to after all. he set the book back down in front of me and sent me a wide smile, picking his camera up and taking another picture of me.
"why do you do that?"
i asked and he laughed.
"i need models for my art and i think now that we've met you would be a great subject."
i set him a look, trying to hide the blush creeping its way up my neck.
"you really think so?"
i asked bashfully and he nodded.
"oh yeah, absolutely. and now that we're partners i think it will give me ample opportunity to find a new muse. you wanna be a subject for a music video?"
i sat back, a little taken aback.
"you want me to do what?"
i asked and he laughed, putting the camera on the table.
"in about a month my band is gonna need some girls for a video but its cool if not. i can live with us just being art project partners."
i cleared my throat, rubbing my hands together under the table.
"how about we get through this first and ill get back to you on that?"
he smiled knowingly at me, raising his coffee to me in cheers.
"sounds like a plan to me."

this thread is just me being a petty bitch so dont take it personally if u feel targeted.. so, lets rant :^) how can ppl look at him and be all like "mmm sexy man" dude..... the more i draw him, the more i realize how scary of a figure he is, he looks so calm and composed and kubo draw him with a slight blue (sad) feeling in his eyes... but when I draw him, its not the same, i dont draw him with the same emotion/feeling, its different...

i know i portray him with a sharp and cold look, piercing eyes, its just so him he's a tall figure, beautiful, imposing, almost angelic, but that pretty image wasnt acquired with altruism nor amour propre (and ill say it, i still dont believe ju has a good self-esteem, or at the very least, not the one he deserves/should be looking upon), he had to be strict with himself when he became a ritter and always have been ever since...
when i say blue its these panels where they show the most, all of these shots are without shinigamis (1st w/ his aide, 2nd bazz, 3d alone) im not saying he's sad, but his heart is not all stone... he has feelings!!! but they are very subtle (hear some ppl say he’s a cold hearted bitch im ???? yall clearly never saw him when he’s not in battle/war)

otherwise we get panels like these where we all know he isnt himself and omg he's scary, like genuinely Terrifying, and even without being under yhwach's power, he is just as scary esp when he interacts with shinigamis
we get to see his look when he’s under yhwach’s power, so i cant really call him jugram ngl, its like a mean side of him that is showing but never had in the first place.. an implanted personality.. and when he’s fighting shinigamis (except for one panel i know), that’s jugram, with a murderous intent and im not afraid to say that really is part of jugram, not a vengeful one, one with power greater than the enemy...

and well, we have Friend chapters where its just.... something else...... please look at this last panel and tell me how desperate he is, HES NOT HIMSELF AT ALL!#?%@ there is like, some kind of anguish in his expression that you can only see here in that single panel (where he calls bazz’ name) and when i say not himself, its not as “he’s ooc”, its as, not the usual composed jugram we’re used, its a desperate one, the one who wants to protect someone... for him to break that composure, then maybe it’s the most himself we get to see since he’s being completely transparent

its even worse when it comes to bazz’ death, the lack of panel showing jugram's face was done on PURPOSE, I KNOW IT!!!! and ppl just think "oh he killed his friend and walked away like nothing" DUDE, HOW CAN YOU SAY THIS?!??! WHEN WE HAVE THIS?!?!?? no expression was shown bc this is how ju handles it (and not the mention kubo PURPOSEFULLY refused to show us any of his facial expression... i fucking hate it, im not saying he’s crying, but he’s certainly hurt, the eyes are the most expressive facial trait, not surprising we didnt get to see them...)

this the only way he could handle it, if he were to show regret, any kind of empathy, he would snap, if you thought killing bazz was easy thing for him, then you dont get his character

3 years is a LOT (esp for his young age), so im not surprised he changed so much, but what bothers me is, "is this what he wants to be?" i would say no, he never desired to become like that, but he just happened to be.. this is what fate gave him so he's not dishonest nor faking, but also younger him would be terrified to know he became like that... does the current ju wanna go back to what he used to be? no, although i believe cold nature isnt his true nature (as in, if the circumstances were different, he wouldnt be that cold) i dont think he wanna go back its just... now part of him, ofc he can be happy and have feelings, he just expresses them less than average... i think ju was the most himself during that 5yrs detaching himself from his abusive uncle and be somehow free, not happy, but just himself
speaking of changing look, jugram went through a personality change 3 times where 2 are linked with trauma, when we first meet him, he's a very unsociable kid who is just looking for love, any kind, deep down, this is caused by his uncle (trauma 1) and making him so... detached from others (unfortunately, this is his initial persona)

this is ofc in order to protect himself (ppl who have DiD ppl mostly suffer from it bc of constant abuse and to protect themselves from trauma, their brain develop DiD ((im not suggesting jugram has DiD bc i dont have it so i cant diagnose it and i dont think there are enough proofs for it, but im not saying its impossible))) bc talking to other ppl could be a problem, so he doesnt befriend bazz at first, but bazz’ concern and the importance he gave to him touched him, deeply, when his uncle died, nothing was stopping him from being closer to bazz, to be more himself
unfortunately bazz didnt bring the best of him, but at least he wasnt restrained emotionally with him (his only inner struggle was being powerless) so he was more free, giving him (change 1) the shy/worried persona, this is the most jugo we ever got
trauma (the beginning of the 2th change): it's not ju joining yhwach but rather, their friendship being torn out, the only person he ever considered as a friend is revealed to have used him, a betrayer, and bazz didnt help himself either... ju just took the safest side

giving us the coldest ju imo (warmest to coldest in 3yrs... damn) i mean, for him to be so unbothered with bazz joining the army after 3 years is so damn cold from him esp when we are shown he never hated him and still cared despite everything...
then with time, he regain more freedom with his emotions and thoughts...which is the 3th change, our current ju, we dont have him joining the army, post-war nor post aushwalen ju, so we cant tell if it affected him somehow.. it would have been interesting..

God, I keep getting recommended that goddamn killing stalking video. No YouTube, I actually *dont* want to watch a video essay about some dude who did fuck all research talk about why he doesn't like this comic I really enjoyed. I bet he ignores the fact that it's one of (if not, the only) popular queer media that focuses on horror. Yes, queer people and horror are very much intertwined, but this is the only piece of media where its explicitly queer by having the two main characters be queer men. Sorry, I'm just really upset by people not doing a lick of research then getting up on their high horse to preach to us about how shit something is. Ugh.
To be fair (and this is the only point I will give him because fuck that guy), he doesn’t criticize the manwha on itself. It’s a little annoying that he defines as a stritctly psychological horror and completely disregard the Boy Love portion of it’s genre, either because he doesn’t know or decided that it was irrelevant, which is a little disrespectful considering it’s a an asian genre and his western ass kept acting as if the idea of this being considered anything BUT horror was just wrong. Like, his whole shtick really REEKS of someone who hasn’t ever even read BL but still dismiss it all the same because his comprehension is limited by his own ethnocentrism. I mean, the fact that he could only mention three other works that “romanticize abuse” and they were all western was pretty fucking telling. Besides he was talking about how it was “weird” for Koogi to publish sexy/shippy art of her own characters on her social media because it’s a horror, which... I didn’t get at all to be honest. Like, what is weird about an artist doing fanart of her own work? “But why would she do that if that is meant to be psychological horror, I don’t know, I don’t get it, let’s ignore that” To be someone who brags about how knowledgeable he is, he sounded EXACTLY as your average teenage anti here on tumblr who literally discovered yesterday that shipping exist. No, the real point of that video is that he “criticizes” the fandom and how wrong fans are to see anything romantic on the manwha, enough that we would ever want to ship the main characters. The concept of whump is completely alien to him. The idea that some survivors use it as coping is not even an option (in fact we are harming survivors of abuse, the usual). The notion that some of us like the disturbing shit BECAUSE it’s disturbing never enters the picture, despite the fact that he made two whole fucking videos talking about queer people enjoying horror. The story is fine, the characters are fine, but we, the fans and especially the shippers? The one who supported Koogi from the start? The ones who spend months and even years theorizing about every single piece on each panels, analyzing colors, expressions, and kept talking about the many instances the abuse is shown and how masterful it was the way of Koogi to do it? We are reduced to nothing but teenage girls “fetishizing gay men” on Tiktok, because he is an outsider who clearly has no experience with transformative fandom AT ALL, doesn’t know what shipping is besides just really liking an already established canon couple and yet still felt the need to act as if he just knows so much better than all of us. The fact that he decided to frame us like that AND literally put himself on a position of superiority is so disgustingly misogynistic I  am appalled that no one else calling him out on it. The comments of that video are nothing but “I read the story, I liked it, but the fandom was just awful, man, nothing but uwuw shippy shit, why would anyone like that, it’s so abusive uwuw”. It really shows that as long you paint a group as teenage girls then you can always dismiss them entirely. If he had attacked the manwha itself, I could calmly refute it, but he grabbed a sample of the fandom from the worst source possible, didn’t even THINK about bringing our perspective, thoughts or feelings into the table for discussion and declared himself the owner of the right way to see this manwha, which, you know, feels pretty fucking insulting.

I agree with everything you said on Mikasa, but I feel you didn't get what I meant. I never imagined her to be someone who needs no man or becoming a ruler or anything. What I was talking about that Isayama linked her growth to separating from Eren, cuz it maybe hinders her in some way? Maybe he means there's a side to her that will only appear by that ("go back to the girl she was before")? Everything you said is true but we knew all of it way before 139. Her keep living despite loss, +
+ her desire for family, we know all of that, it's nothing new. If Eren had to die for us to realize it, I don't feel it's a rewarding payoff to me at least as reader, there was nothing profoundly new about it but he made it sound like he had plans to show sth different about her, sth he felt could only happen in her if she were to lose Eren. Now all it is is just emphasising her living with loss, her will to live etc which is great! but we got that kinda by the trost arc already
+ I hope I'm making sense, what I'm trying to say is: I don't think it diminishes her character but it leaves much to desire, not fleshed out enough. You're left to assume whatever you want & you could do that even before 139, he doesn't use those last panels enough to show her life outside, he brings it back again in the context of Eren, seeing her f.e. smile, with her family NOT at the grave would have been 100x more satisfying. We get she'll cherish E, but wasting every panel of it, annoying
+ we know Mikasa is one who keeps going forward, we've seen it with her first family, second family, loss of Sasha etc so you expect to see sth on a new level, with more depth, with loss of her most beloved. I also think f.e. plot about her heritage was also wasted, her finding out she has other families, relatives, a story, so learning about it would have been a great way to explore her arc, but again, you're left to assume (I dont mean she should have ruled Hizuru)
+ mind you we saw her decline Kyomi's offer without ever even visiting Hizuru once or ever trying to give it a chance, she found out about her lost heritage & is never shown to care, that's a waste especially if you want the message to be "continuing life, finding new reasons to live .." when you downright decline an offer that could be an extension of that message.
+ All in all, did Mikasa have to lose Eren to grow? If yes, why not show sth that is a result of that grow that you think she could not have had achieved with Eren, sth Eren apparantly hindered her from. A mikasa with a family we could have seen with E as well, that's what I meant. A mikasa dealing with loss, we know. a side to her with have not seen yet, that was a missed opportunity imo

Thank you for coming back and clarifying it!
That said, I do not think Mikasa needed to lose Eren to grow. She needed not to be completely dependent and defined by him and she does so in the end when she chooses to kill Eren, so that the world is saved.
Not being defined =/= losing someone forever.
For example, in HxH Gon and Killua’s relationship has elements of codependency which are explored and called out. As for now the two characters are separated, but this does not mean they will be so forever. If anything, they need to meet again and even what they are currently doing is not really something they need to without the other. I mean, Killua is currently traveling the world with his sister and Gon is currently with his aunt. They could do these things in each other’s company, but they chose to spend some time apart. In this way they can heal individually. Not only that, but they have actually grown a lot thanks to each other and have saved each other.
The same can be said about Nora and Ren’s relationship in RWBY. In the last volume Nora realizes she needs to discover who she wants to be individually before she can stay together with Ren, who she is in love with.
That said, both these relationships take their time to explore and flesh out the characters outside of each other. Could this be what you meant about Mikasa’s arc? I can see it and I think it would have made her arc even richer. That said, I think it would have worked better not at the end of the arc, but before its climax. In short, I think that more exploration of Mikasa’s other relationship would have enriched her arc.
For example, Eren has very well defined and explored relationships with both Mikasa and Armin. You can see these bonds are both important and thematically rich. It would have been nice to have Mikasa and Armin’s bond explore some theme as well. In this way it could have been more unique.
Anyway, all of this to say I understand where you are coming from, but I do think the ending is good for Mikasa’s character. Imo what you say would have worked in the middle of her arc (which is where she loses focus). Tbh I think she gets a little bit of that in the last arc with the focus on Sasha’s friendship, the introduction of Hizuru and her excitement for the outside world. I think it could have been explored more and Hizure could have used more as well.

oh my god this is the issue with the many many two-page spreads...the first time I read this issue I didn't realize that was a thing and GOD I was SO fucking confused. there's already a lot going on in this issue/arc but this made things so much worse hvbhjkdfbsk. I powered thru and still managed to understand most of the arc despite reading half this issue out of order (essentially) bc the website I read it on split the pages up and I couldn't tell they were supposed to be doubled (and also I'm dumb so I didn't figure it out)
anyways, the actual issue...windcharger is out here using his powers to rip a dudes arms clean off. wow!

I love the dichotomy of this emotional reaction that comes only partially from empathy/emotion, but also comes from a kinda self-centered need for success as measured by people under your command staying alive. and taking into account rodimus’s life it totally makes sense that he’d act like that...GAH I love it. the complexity of it all!

oh man that last panel of trailbreaker holding up roller’s juice box...iirc the first time I read this I thought that was roller (cause of the juice box I guess? idk I'm an idiot) so I was like oh ok he must've come back or something. very much related but I didn't really think about tarn being a particular pre-established character and totally didn't read the whole ‘roller is tarn’ thing that was going on 
which in my defense ruth also didn't pick up on any of that while reading this and eventually like 2 issues before the reveal I had to prompt her like ‘you should maybe be wondering WHO tarn is’ vhbahjksdfbaksjdf
so! issue 37! this issue is a solid favorite of mine, id say definitely top 5 or even 3. I'm super biased bc I fucking LOVE time travel, it’s seriously one of my favorite tropes ever, and this issue hits all the time travel beats I love. characters traveling to the past and interacting with people they know! conversations that have multiple meanings bc of TIME TRAVEL! trying to save someone who meets a terrible fate in your future! fun time travel action! the time traveling characters being generally terrible at hiding the fact that they're time travelers! ITS SO GOOD. 
and I love the clever way everything is tied together here - where we get a nice continuation of shadowplay, with this taking place shortly after that with a lot of the same cast, and time travel classics like the good ole ‘if we hadn't travelled back in time and done what we did, the future we came from wouldn't have existed at all,’ in the flavor of ‘rodimus saving his baby self’ and ‘rodimus NOT saving trailbreaker’ and ‘everyone forgot about roller :(’ 
ok but like, did the lost lighters just go ‘oh well, guess rollers gone now.’ like they DID realize that the outlaw crew would have no idea what happened to him if they got their memories erased, right?? did the lost lighters figure that since roller never reappeared after this time period, that was how history was ‘supposed’ to go and they shouldn't mess with it? am I overthinking it? as usual: yes, probably. I love overthinking about comics, in case that wasn't obvious
basically...I love this issue soooo much. so so good and a bunch of fun tropes that I love. I mean the whole arc is like that for me since I love time travel so much. so I cant wait to (re)read more!!

and not megumi being blase abt his death! his ‘yeah whatever if i die it'll be fine’ was the least convincing thing ever!!! he’s so casual abt the idea sukuna could use him like,, what are u thinking megumi ,, then again he knows sukuna doesn't want him dead rn
since ppl are talking about nanamis CT,, maybe it's that all CTs belong to a single pool, there can only ever be one holder of the ability at a time so there's a restricted number of abilities and that's what also accounts for the small number of shamans
tengen’s barrier presumably works bc shamans agree it participate voluntarily,, it makes sure CTs remain in the pool. CTs rotate out at certain intervals, checking each other, bc the amount of cursed spirits also rises according to shaman power lvls
which makes me wonder if the golden age was a reaction to sukuna's growth in power, except that his fingers remain, the power is still circulating and kenjaku is out being an asshole. so 10 shadow, 6 eyes, curse manipulation all at the same time is maybe a reaction to kenjaku’s power plays
depends on how many of these super long living shamans there are too,, many of them have elemental powers or powers related to keeping the shaman world in check,, re: techniques and curse manipulation
imo there's also a suggested convergence where at some point a shaman hits critical mass and starts to tip over into cursed spirit territory. like,,, ur cells become so saturated by that cursed energy it starts to eat and replace ur actual mass and cursed spirits with a bunch of cursed energy become more capable of emotional nuance and approach a more "human" feeling ,,, idk. balance is clearly more literal and more relevant than we thought
ainu (irl and probs here too) are an indigenous group that reside in hokkaido. if we’re basing on recent laws and the fact that hokkaido is home to many many sacred sites based on their spiritual belief of gods manifesting as anything from nature,,, so if we look at in from jjk and shaman society perspective, it’s only right that tokyo/kyoto shaman society have no hold on hokkaido.
and based from the tensions in the past due to the government (irl), i doubt ainu shaman tech aren’t as open and prone to control as tokyo or kyoto are
i hope i’m not overlapping my thoughts with phantom seer that i’m catching up to rn bc it also involves shamanism sjsjjeen  - 🐱 (2)
seeing the ainu panel made me excited because I think that that means that the ainu may be getting a special spotlight later on

yeah...the last panel had me thinking about nanami’s cursed technique. it would be interesting if CT’s could be traded or smt, but I always thought CT’s were something inherent and unique to the individual but who knows at this point
i want more on the zenin clan politics and how exactly megumi became head. also very very interesting that gojo’s presence was the only thing keeping the “shared” armory stocked. the minute gojo was sealed they took back the weapons and dipped. i wonder why it was created in the first place!!

An Analysis of Portgas D. Ace

Alright I decided to do this since people actually enjoyed the analysis i did for Kid. Also, i find myself relating to him more and more recently. So, I thought: why not do an analysis of him?
Ace is undoubtedly one of my favorite characters in all of one piece so this might segway to become a "Why is Ace such a good character?" post.
Before I begin, just a disclaimer; I am aware that not everyone will agree with what I say so just make sure you understand that this is just my opinion. im just a psychology student so im just using whatever crap i learnt into analyzing this.

Here we go.
I think we can all agree that Ace is definitely one of the most loved characters in one piece. He has a shit ton of fans so i dont even NEED to convince you on why you should like him. But of course, there are fans that like him only because of his appearance or because of his abilities. So, id like to offer a different perspective- the same goes with my Kid post. Im just here to kind of breakdown the reasons why Ace is such an amazing character such that we can all appreciate him even more.
1. Background
Let us take a look at his background shall we? I think this is a very important part of Ace's character as all his choices and decisions stems from how he was raised during his childhood.
In the recent chapters of one piece, they showed a panel of Roger saying how he wanted a son. But we all know how that went. He was dead so he couldnt take care of Ace. Instead, taking care of Ace became Garp's responsibility, then it shifted to Dadan's responsibility.
Dadan was Ace' primary caretaker. While she provided and place for him to stay & food to eat, she isn't really shown spending time with him. She cared for him, that's for sure. But did she meet his emotional needs? I dont think so. Spending time with a chuld is very importsnt for their growth. But Dadan did not do that. It's evident that Ace displays the insecure-avoidant attachment style as he is unconcerned about his caregiver. This led him to develop trust issues as he got a bit older.
Another reason that could explain his behaviour in his childhood is that no one tried to address the relationship between him and Gol D. Roger. No one took time to acknowledge Ace's feelings about Roger. Everyone around him had said that he was an amazing man, but no one understood Ace when he said that Roger wasn't as great of a father. This led him to resent Roger even more- as well as the people who praised him.
Sabo's 'death' really affected Ace. Sabo was the first person who accepted Ace and I guess Ace must've grieved over him. (I mean, he does have a tattoo in memory of Sabo) But, Sabo was the reason why Ace decided to become stronger. So that he could fight for whoever he cared about.
2. Love
This is arguably the main theme in Ace's character.
His whole character arc revolves around acceptance and his goal in life was simply to find someone that could love him for who he was- not because he was the son of Roger. As explained above, he had attachment issues as he wasn't really shown any love as a kid. The firet person to accept him was Sabo then eventually, Luffy. It's unclear how Sabo and Ace met but, Sabo was definitely the first person to help Ace open up his heart. This is purely hypothetical but I think Ace saw similarities between himself and Sabo which eventually led them to becoming friends. On the other hand, he took a long time before he accepted Luffy. Luffy was an interesting child because he was so persistent in getting Ace's attention and acceptance. I'm sure Ace must have felt confused as to why someone would try so hard to even be accepted by him. Was it because he was Roger's son? Or did Luffy really want to befriend Ace because of who he was? When they became sworn brothers, it had meant that Ace was going to sacrifice everything for Sabo and Luffy. They followed different paths but Ace never stopped caring for them.
Moving on to the point where he first joined the Whiteheard pirates, this is when he experienced what it was like to have a family. Over time, they taught him about how a family should be like. They showed him unconditional love and sheltered him from those who would try to harm him. In return, he does the same for them. This was when Ace had found his purpose. His purpose was to protect those he cared about and those who cared about him.
3. Marineford
This is where Ace's character really was at its peak. We see that everything that we have understood about Ace makes sense as they are reflected in his actions. Him going after Blackbeard after he killed Thatch, then getting captured. But, this is where we learn that Ace is still struggling with his issues. He doesn't want to be saved because there's a part of him that thinks that no one cares about him. He thinks that nobody would bother risking their lives for him so, he didn't ask for any help as he didn't want to ne disappointed when no one came. At the same time, part of him clung on to that hope that he could be saved. That maybe just one person would come and rescue him.
As an audience, his conflicting emotions really impacted me because his feelings are all too real. What do i mean? This is kind of personal but, if you have ever struggled with mental illness you'll understand Ace's feelings. I've dealt with depression all my life and I could really relate to his feelings. Sometimes I wonder if I'm worth the effort, if there is any point in me living. Does anyone really care about me? Even if you don't have a mental health condition, surely you must have had times where you were in despair. That is when you wonder to yourself if there is any point in clinging onto hope. If there is anyonr that could save you from this situation. I think this side of Ace's character is so well written because it reflects reality.
The most heartbreaking scene is when Ace protects Luffy from Akainu. Some people argue that Ace's death was his own fault as he shouldn't have gotten agitated when Akainu insulted Whitebeard. But, you need to understand Whitebeard's relationship to Ace. To Ace, Whitebeard was the man that gave him everything a father would have. He was there for Ace physically and emotionally. He literally was the one who gave Ace the confidence and strength to fight for who he loves. So, I think that his actions and choices in that scene is perfectly valid. It fits his character.
Finally, Ace's death and his last words.
"Thank you for loving me."
This fucking broke my heart.
Everything about Ace's character is coming in full circle. His past, his choices, everything had been leading to this moment where he would die protecting the one he loved. He had finally achieved his goal in life- which was to find someone who could love him. He must've felt so fucking happy when he saw how so many people were willing to fight to save him. He finally attainted the happiness he had been searching for so, so long.
Then, he died.
This is going to segway a little but I really, really couldn't accept his death because he didn't deserve to die. Don't get me wrong, I do know how important his death is for the story and Luffy's character but I still can't accept that he couldn't live out the rest of his days happily. Also, the fact that he never got to see Sabo again just fucking breaks my heart because Sabo was the first person in his LIFE to accept him. (that is why i ship them lmao)
Anyways.
In summary, I think the reason why everyone loves Ace so much was because they could see themselves in his position. We can understand his conflicting feelings, his fears and worries because they are a reflection of reality. We desire for the same thing as he does: Love and acceptance. Which is why, we root for him. In times of despair, he clings on to hope- much like how we do in real life.
With that said, like how Ace deserves all the love in the world, you do too.
You deserve better.

anti LO anon opinions:
(1) Omg THANK YOU. LO Hera is probably the worst character in the bunch by how hypocritical and narcissistic she is, not to mention how she’s never can never be wrong ever and how toxic she is to everyone from her niece who she’s trying to pimp out to her lover to her neglected children. The only reason you “root” for her is because you’re supposed to feel angry at Zeus for cheating, but it’s undermined bc she’s a cheater too! Honestly, if Lo Zeus goes down, then so should she. She’s terrible.
(2) So I just had a idea for how Hades could have been in retellings ( esp. LO). Since as the lord of the dead he gets all the dead, he gathers them in groups, like the dead artist get their supply for free but Hades gets to keep their best works. You think you saw an El Greco in his palace ? Which one - Hades has an entire hallway decorated with his paintings. Newly dead philosophers get the older ones up to speed, Hades allows his people to keep doing what they loved even after their death.
(3) I don't think the LO team keeps track of anything because now Hades hates kids??? LO Poseidon asked him to hold his son (Triton i suppose, isn't he older than Athena? Yet Athena is an adult in this but he's a baby? Whatever) and Hades looks DISGUSTED over it and can't wait to geet rid of him. Wasn't there a whole episode of him being sad he's infertile and this can't have kids? Now he hates them? What's the truth then?
(4) i like how the problem in lo isn't persephone murdering a bunch of innocent people, it's just that she didn't get a signed piece of paper beforehand and zeus thinks its some conspiracy against him. how are these super powered gods yet so pathetically weak and useless? and helios, who i think in the original hymn was on hades' side, is now hated because he doesn't cover for hades' two week soulmate? this is so lame
(5) i legit had to squint at that panel you posted for a solid two minutes bc hades blends so much into the background and i didnt know where he started. how is that good design? not to mention how stupid his nose is drawn, i get artistic style and all but its weird how theres some sense of proper facial anatomy then a weird triangle shooting out of his face for a nose. i dont like it.
(6) i'm really confused. isn't LO a romance? why hasn't persephone shown up by now? Why aren't her and hades a couple or even close to it over a hundred episodes in? why are we dealing with a weird murder/government plot? who cares about any of this?
(7) LO discourse has hit the non H/P side of tumblr and tbh i don't buy that LO is bad because it whitewashes rape/romanticizes the relationship, but really its just a bad comic. it's obsessed with women's bodies and slut shaming and excusing slavery and capitalism and making hades flawfree while demonizing everyone else but hxp ficlets or punderworld also romanticize h/p but they actually have the talent to make it more nuanced than "hades good/perfect and demeter is a big evil bitch".
(8) LO makes no sense because now Helios, a noted truth sayer and one of the few deitiies in the Hymns who vouched for Hades and Persephone, is now a bad guy who is obviously not to be trusted and who wants them to suffer? I understand it's trying to show the couple as the underdogs but this is getting ridiculous. If it was one or two people disapproving it'd be one thing, but surely everyone but three people calling Hades and Persephone bad people isn't unbiased, it's the truth of that universe.
