You know I'm a little bit tired of poor written when it comes to Star Wars and the sequels were done so wrong.

I hope some expanded stuff can redeemed it like the prequels.

Like we had the series, Star Wars Resistance and it only lasted two seasons.

i’m sorry but how is the mystery of aaravos not about aaravos. :)

+ the dragon prince arc centered around zym so so fully he had so much screen time in every season even just as an egg. like that’s just not a fair comparison…

plus, zym Is a main character, (the five of us) the only thing making him not as key is that he is basically a dog. aaravos is definitely key too, and he has so much impact in the mystery of aaravos and he hasn’t even had his theatric entrance yet. how can you say he’s not a main character?

aaron even said in the Reel James interview that in s4 we could have gotten more aaravos content without it interfering with anything ToT like even just a small cut to whatever he’s doing in prison. It’s not asking for much at all. rayllum fans get SO much and always ask for more content and tie things back to rayllum all the time but get mad and salty when we do the same with aaravos? like ok. make it make sense.

rebuttal to the first half here (zym and aaravos are not main characters, they are currently by and large macguffins, it is a very very common story convention; arc 1 is about other characters trying to return/protect zym or stop him from going home; he is a motivation, that's not the same as him being a Main Character).

it also may surprise you but i've been in other fandoms before where my favourite characters were #1. completely side lined by their rightful narrative as a core co-protagonist (hi Finn from star wars), #2. minor side characters who didn't need to be more in the story more (hi Kai and Jinora from the legend of korra), #3. killed off or taken out of the show for seasons or both (hi Shiro from voltron) and I only bitched about 1 and 3 for 6ish months each at all because it overlapped with racist and ableist storytelling.

Wanting more of your fave character is understandable, but people don't complain or get up in arms that Gren isn't in every episode, meanwhile I've seen people routinely whine about how the Mystery of Aaravos doesn't have enough Aaravos in it because they ignored the Mystery part of the title. The post in particular, which I think was pretty clear, was about being annoyed that people thought Aaravos himself as a personality/character would be a central focus in s4/s5 and complaining that he isn't, when it's pretty clear in early S4 that well - it's going to be a Mystery, and we're mostly seeing how characters react to the missions or fears he (or others have) given them.

All fans ask for more stuff of their favourite characters (whenever there's a cast and crew Q&A, I always ask about Ezran) no matter how much canon material they already have — that's kind of the nature of fandom, even if people move from wanting more in fanon rather than from canon material cause sometimes things need to / should end.

The reason that so much gets tied back to Rayllum is because they are main characters, the show's main ship (and fandoms already tend to be more ship > solo or brotp heavy, though I'd appreciate more balance on the latter), and because they are thematically and literally connected to the entire cast of the show at least adjacently (largely through Callum as Amaya + Janai get looped in as his aunts) with a lot of parallels.

TDP is the first fandom I have ever been in, in 14+ years in fandom, where my favourite ship was the biggest in a fandom (or in the source material). I've been in your position 99/100, I have sympathy for it. I've just never shown my ass about it

OK, I give up. WHAT is y'all's deal with Commander Fox?? Like, WHY is he such a favourite among clone fans. I keep seeing art of him, fics and posts about him, and more fanon that I know what to do with. But why him?? I'm really confused? ?? Literally the ONLY thing of note he does in the show is murder a beloved character

the only good thing about having worked in a movie theater when Star Wars: The Force Awakens came out is that whenever I go to a movie theater and the employees are overwhelmed and apologetic I just say "it's okay don't worry about it, I used to work in a movie theater too. I was working when the force awakens came out" and they say "oh, oh my god" and immediately relax their shoulders

The name Ben came up with as a child is "Kylo". If I had to guess, his train of thought was:

Skywalker + Solo = Kylo

I genuinely love that The Rise of Kylo Ren hints that it's not some eldritch moniker but just a "cool name" that a kid came up with. Like, this is probably how JJ Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan came up with the name, and years later: boom, it becomes lore that's tailored to the character's personality. Pretty neat.

also like I genuinely don’t understand the hate for the kenobi show (mostly nonexistent on here bc it’s tumblr)? like it def has a few weak moments or things i’d have done differently but the story has been really compelling so far imo, nothing has put me off. obi’s whole characterisation has been done extremely well; i love, love seeing broken characters slowly start to heal/learn that not all is lost yet. leia is absolutely mature for a ten year old but not impossibly so; she’s the daughter of upper class politicians, of course she’s smart and incredibly aware of certain things. she knows a lot about how people work from her parents and the world bubble she inhabits. im a big fan of reva too because she is trying so hard to gain any sort of power or control she can; she’ll hurt people to make them listen to her, she’ll disobey orders if she thinks it’ll get her closer to goal, she acts first without any thought to the consequences she might bring down upon herself. she’ll forfeit anything, no matter how important, in order to try and complete her mission. i love seeing a character so determined and passionate but reckless and impatient as all hell, makes for a very fun watch; because in her drive to do things her way, she will fuck up, and that makes for a good plot lmao

i know it's been said a gazillion times and said more eloquently than me but god the amount of missed potential in the sequel trilogy. thinking about how anakin became a villain because he felt he had no other choice (and the tragedy being that he always had a choice, and his character arc concluding with him deciding to stand up for what's right by saving luke), meanwhile kylo grew up surrounded by a loving family full of positive role models and chose evil knowingly because he craved power for power's sake. kylo idolizing the tragic figure of darth vader all the while burning the world around him. there was so much you could do with that but instead they had to sacrifice rey's character to make the movies about her fixing the genocidal white boy who never wanted to be saved
