You are going to have more in common with trans people who have a similar gender identity to you than you think. Trans people are reliable narrators of their own experiences, and whether you like it or not, we will have similar or even identical experiences to yours. Cis people don't have a monopoly over their gender or the experiences people have as a result of their gender.

my favourite iberian indigenous names have to be burrus and reburrus. they never fail to make me giggle everytime i come across them

#they were quite popular as well. like so popular roman authors tended to use burrus to talk about iberians in general #kinda like using juan to talk about hispanics or idk pierre for french people #for non-hispanics #burro means donkey #it also means stupid #and we use 'reburro' to say someone is extra stupid #also this proves burro the word comes from prerroman times which <3 #in my experience #almost all spanish words that don't have a clear origin and have a lot of 'rr' and other hard sounds are probably prerroman #(and most likely iberian tho it could be celtic)#arroyo and berrocal are two common examples as well #burro arroyo berrocal. you can see the similarities #also except burro they tend to be natural features and stuff which makes sense #an arroyo is a stream. a berrocal is a particular rock formation #this also proves at least for me the connection between ancient iberian languages as euskera #euskera is also characterized by a lot of hard sounds and if i didn't know them already #i'd think arroyo or berrocal were basque words

so wait, since i was just reminded of the recorder thing donna talked about in the giggle, i now have a question for uk ppl: do yall learn the recorder in school? like in a music class? and like how much do yall have music class over there?

#this is a very interesting topic for me as a music educator from the us #ik a guy from ireland and he said there was no music class in schools for him and like not the same country BUT same island #(as northern ireland. not the others in the uk but still)#and its so wild and fascinating music education is a fascinating field and the way we do it in the us seems to be largely vvv unique to us #for clarification on how things are different so ppl have a better idea on how to answer my question lol:#in the us music class is standard in elementary schools and most places have general music until abt 5th/6th grade (year 6/7)#(general music = basics- music games learn recorder SOME notation-reading; often classroom instruments eg boomwhackers claves maracas #orff instruments if you're lucky/from a school district that isnt poor. also some world music)#its less standardized after that and not every school will have music after middle school but concert bands and choirs are both huge here #choirs start right on the heels of general music classes (sometimes start earlier + students elect to be in choir instead of general music)#bands USUALLY start in 4th grade (year 5) but sometimes can be later 5th/6th (year 6/7) or even 7th (year 8) (WAY less common)#depends on the state generally 4th is most common i think (choirs start at around the same time i think so probs 4th but choir isnt my area #orchestras are weird bc theyre a lot less common but can commonly start younger bc of one of the big approaches to music ed (suzuki method)#so like maybe 3rd grade (year 4) maybe 4th w/ band (year 5) but i have a friend who teaches at a private school #& said they have 1st/2nd graders (year 2/3)!! orchestra is also not my area though #also marching bands: vv common! usually just in hs (starting 9th grade / year 10) bc it supports the football team at games #but starting in 8th grade (year 9) is also common (sometimes even 7th / year 8)#theres two different styles: collegiate/show band and competition. former is very rah rah pop music etc; competition is more abstract #show bands are clearly designed to entertain whereas competition is designed to be more impressive and tell a story #so more impact moments abstract shapes/lines on the field and has movements - opener ballad closer (fast-slow-fast)

the overturning of the law of daynos was kind of overshadowed by the complete clusterfuck (positive) that was book 3's ending, but can we back it up a second. they overturned the law of daynos. they didn't even really believe in overturning it, they just needed it to work one specific personal thing out. but that has massive ramifications. they showed up, decimated the current vané social structure and then left. can you imagine all the problems they left behind my god

#a chorus of dragons #mutuals I was gonna try to explain the law of daynos to you in the tags but I don't know if I have the space. i'll try to be brief #(it's imperfect the vané are complicated okay I'm fudging a few things)#law of daynos basically says once you die you are no longer legally responsible for the actions of your past life.#even once your soul gets transfered to a new body (VERY common. like everyone does it. its like faux immortality)#so any responsibilities agreements (like marriages) are void #but they overturned this law in book 3 #meaning that now like their entire population's past lives are suddenly legally considered alive and valid #marriages are valid again. debts you owed are valid again. etc #because in this world dying is very different. and you can die and still be the same person #therefore death actually /shouldn't/ automatically invalidate marriages debts responsibilities etc #and the main characters didn't actually really beleive in overturning the law #they just needed to reinstate this one person to the throne via overturning it #so they did that. and completely fucked SO many lives in the process #and we simply. never see the consequences #the main characters have too much else going on that this clusterfuck doesn't come close to making the cut #but I keep thinking about it...

Last post before I crash and no-one hears from me until I return from my first final the morrow’s eve (a changed man no doubt) but there’ll never be anything funnier to me than consistently being viewed as a composed and calm saviour by peers while I’m, actively and uncontrollably losing it.

#not said sarcastically or as a vent by the way I genuinely find it so terribly amusing. you think I have it together ? aw <3 you fool.#i’ve been pacing around my room like a starving lion since the past week in whatever free time i’ve had.#and i keep getting people in my messages begging me for last minute help ? which is endearing but. i’m hanging on for dear life myself #helping isn’t foreign to me; i have 4 (?) people in my class who almost exclusively refer to me as ma’am and even refer to me as a teacher.#but helping last minute is so. deeply chaotic.#and I have this issue with me where having others around me makes me immediately drop into a ‘role’ of sorts?#i’ll be freaking out but then someone else starts freaking out around me and my immediate response is to just.#hey. we are going to make it out of this. it’s easy as pie. do you see me worried? no right? <- on the verge of hyperventilating #there’s this one guy in particular who got so excited to find out we have the exact same examination set-up tomorrow.#i gave him like basic pointers and i don’t think i’ve ever been thanked so earnestly and desperately in my life.#i remember during mocks my friends would message me what I wrote in questions and then they’d immediately go oh thank Fuck.#they’d literally just act like they’re absolutely going to pass now just because we had points in common.#as if i’m some sort of fucked up correct answer sheet incarnate.#it’s genuinely really sweet to me though; like i’m not posting this ranting or such.#having so much faith in another to the point that you can put yourself completely at ease says. alot i think.#and i’m glad i can be that person for so many.#and I feel like it helps me in a way too because i become so concerned with others that I forget to drown myself in my worries.#i forget that I’m worried because there are others to care about and console and help. so i suppose they help me in a way as well.#but also who is going to be that person for ME. who is going to console ME. im going fucking neurotic /jest #<- woman with ego issues & control issues who would rather die than accept help.#sigh. oh well.
