So I decided to do some maturation math for the party and depending on how you calculate dwarven maturation, Chilchuck could be the oldest in terms of maturation.
To put it in relatable terms, I tried to calculate how old everyone would be if they were Tall-men.
Tall men only have the average lifespan of 60 in dunmeshi so shorter than most places irl.
Half-foots are only 10 years shorter for as much emphasis they put on how short-lived they are at an average lifespan of 50 years.
Dwarves live to 200... which brings complications. Laios mentions that dwarves live 2.5 times longer than tall men but... they don't. They live 3.33 times longer. 2.5 would mean tall-men have the average life expectancy of 80, which real people do in Japan. So I think Kui just forgot that tall-men don't live as long when she wrote that. But that means there are two valid ways to calculate Dwarven maturation. For this I'll do both and I'm not sure which I prefer yet.
Marcille is stated to be roughly the equivalent of a 20 year old and I'm just going to role with that because her maturation is a mess.
So for Chilchuck, I just added 10 years to his age for his Tall-man maturation level, meaning he's basically a 38 year old.
For Senshi, I divided his age by the two numbers we have. So, going with the 2.5 estimation, Senshi would be 44, pushing 45. (44.8) But if we go with the 3.33 estimation, he'd only be 36.
SO if you take dwarven maturation at the 3.33 times slower than tall-man maturation then Chilchuck is the oldest in the context of maturation at his species’ equivalent of 38. If you take the stated 2.5 maturation rate for Dwarves then the eldest is Senshi at his species’ equivalent of 44. Laios is third at 26, and Marcille is the youngest adult at ~20-ish, and Izutsumi is 17 as she is just a tall-man with a curse.

I think the biggest thing with the watcher stuff is how much they seem to misunderstand what people like about YouTube as a medium.
I don’t want TV-lite. High production value is nice, but that has never been the appeal of YouTubers. It has always been about the people. Like, I fell in love with YouTube in the early 2010s when it really was just some people with a camera in their houses. And those are still my favorite types of videos. This constant push for TV quality… it feels like an ego thing. It’s new media! It’s okay if it doesn’t replicate traditional media landscapes. That’s that appeal!
And I get that creative control and the algorithm are legitimate concerns with content creation and I don’t begrudge creators for wanting to escape that. But at some point you have to respect the platform you built your audience on.

Hi, may I ask you a question? I know this is probably kind of an unusual ask so feel free to ignore this! But you seem so nice and kind so I thought I might ask you about this...
So lately I keep thinking a lot about gender things. Oh and I am a girl (maybe (as in afab)) and until recently I was convinced that I am very comfortable in my gender. And the thing is, I did think about it. I knew about my sexuality since I was a teenager and I remember thinking about my gender on many occasions and always feeling so sure about it and so comfortable in my body. But also... I've always been kinda scrawny (my friends keep joking that oversized clothes make me look like a 14 year old boy) and then someone told me people go through second puberty and I might get bigger hips in the next years and I would hate that. And then I wondered why, is it just the change or would I genuinely be uncomfortable in a more feminine body?
And now I'm wondering, because why would that come up now?? I mean I am in my early twenties now and I've known about my sexuality for years. But I've also kind of ignored that after realizing it for a while whoops. So it might be happening again. Or maybe it's really just a bit of gender envy and not all that serious?
I think I'm just trying to ask you if you think it's possible that I realize some things late? I'm just so unsure lately and I feel like I can't really ask anyone about this...
So yeah, apologies for sending you that paragraph and I hope you have a nice day!!
Alright so first of I want to say that I am in no means an expert at this. I’m not a therapist and I can’t tell you what you are or what you aren’t feeling. But I can speak from my own experience that things like this are by no means tied to a specific period of time in your life. There’s people that are well into their adult years (and i’m talking 60-70) that are still discovering things about themselves
I’ve spend a long time around people who were telling me what I can and cannot be or what i should be. I was "comfortable" in my gender because I was thought that I should be. And until I actually started talking to people who were going through similar things, I didn’t quite understand that it was not the norm feeling this way about yourself.
Again speaking from my own experience because never let anyone tell you what’s right or wrong for you. There is certain things about being afab i embrace and appreciate even. Things i would miss was i born differently. I love having a softer voice, and more feminine features because those are things that make me me.
But then I have cis girl friends who tell me "oh I wish I had your chest" or "you should be grateful you don’t have as little as me" and I just rather die that having this part of my body be perceived at all. I have my top surgery very soon which i’m extremely excited for but why do I have to defend myself for wanting something that’ll make me happier just because people don’t understand the feeling.
Sorry this has become quite personal and rambly somehow but apparently i have many feelings about this and if they can help anyone in any way then that would he the best outcome. I guess what i’m trying to say is try to let go of whatever you think other people want you to be and be kind and gentle with yourself. You don’t HAVE to be anything the only thing you should be is comfortable in your own skin

People who say 'music was best in the 60s-80s' etc are wrong of course but I do think there's a grain of truth to it in that at least pop/mainstream music in general has gotten distinctly shittier in the past decade or so?
Not that there aren't mainstream artists who are incredibly creative and talented but I feel like it's a lot more homogenous. And like pop/popular music has ALWAYS catered to trends and had a degree of homogeneity and it would be ridiculous to claim otherwise, but there seems to be a distinctly greater aversion to risk taking and more of a mass-manufactured feel to a lot of it. There's more fantastic music being made than ever before but less of it's penetrating the core mainstream? In my opinion.

Loving the vibe of Izzy and Stede... I won't say their necessarily getting along quite yet, I don't want to jinx it, but like... they're getting along and it's fucking great.
the way he actually tries and help Stede out, in his own way (which is aggressive but very real and upfront, and it clearly shapes Stede), he helps him with the crew and the curse, gives him that little 👌 when he manages to scare the guy with the wanting shot, he stands behind him with the rest of the crew, showing his support of the new captain.
I think he genuinely gives a shit, if even a little one for Stede, and a massive one (though he'll never admit it unless his hand is forced, which I see coming in the near future) for the crew, and isn't just acting like a good dog/right hand. like I think he's genuinely healing, in the best way? absolutely not, but, it's definitely something and I love that for him.
also, him and Lucius getting along, in there own fucked up way, and Izzy giving him the shark and the advice, it's great. (loving the nickname twatty, it's killing me)

Why do you hate SilverAsh so much lol please enlighten me I want the tea
Break the Ice event happened LOL.
Basically, the event showed in great detail how much of a sociopath that bastard is. Yes, he has all the good intentions for his homeland Kjerag but he has seemingly convinced himself that only the most morally abhorrent means are the way to go and that all his slimy political maneuvering are just bitter pills that EVERYONE has to swallow FOR THEIR OWN GOOD.
Like for example, what he did to his sister Enya/Pramanix. He intentionally guilt-tripped his YOUNGER sister into joining their country's church in order for her to become its highest ranking member, the saintess. Like he for real used her sister's sense of duty to their country (mind that their family, the Silverashes, is a prominent political pillar of Kjerag) to make her feel that she had to become the saintess. And mind you, Enya hates being the saintess; has to deal with church politics, trapped in some far off mountain temple and isolated from the rest of her country, cannot even interact with her beloved younger sister (Ensia/Cliffheart) aside from sharing letters.
And then you also got the actual events of Break the Ice where he got Ensia to invite the Doctor and co to come up Kjerag under the guise of a vacation. Only for it to be revealed the he did this so that the Doctor can play a part in the civil war he was orchestrating to happen which resulted in the people of Kjerag KILLING EACH OTHER and saw the decimation of all of his rivals' political clout, leaving the Silverashes on top. And along the way, he be like "this must be done for the good of everyone" whilst committing multiple backstabbing, emotional manipulation, treason, and GAY-BAITING WITH GNOSIS THAT ASSHOLE AHHHHHHHHHHHH— Oh did I mentioned he poisoned the "pope" so that Enya can be the only power within the church? And of course, since the saintess wants Kjerag to become whole and to bring back the peace (which good ol' Enciodas/SilverAsh shattered, for good reasons of course😆), she was once again forced to stay in line and support her brother.
Happy ending yay~~

just read the ask about what the announcement could be and how you said it wouldn't take long to organise SSG.
I work in immersive theatre and events, an undertaking like SSG even within an internal company would be a massive undertaking and could take between 3 months to 6 months to plan properly depending on where it's taking place.
You have to book the site where it's taking place, making sure no one else is around because Smosh are notoriously loud while filming. You have to make sure everyone is available, as a business they need to transport everyone out to the site and if it's far enough away put the cast and crew up in hotels as it's going to be a multi-day shoot and it may be too far for them to get back home. You also have to advertise it well in advance to maximise the excitement and views of SSG. There are also a ton of other details that I have no clue about because I don't work within film/TV/digital content. (Also call me stupid, but I think a sleepaway camp themed SSG would be hilarious)
I'm glad we can talk about this!
I also was taking into account most of the things you mentioned (booking a site that would be unbothersome, the hotels/lodging, everyone being available for at least a week straight(?), and the actual process of getting all the cast and crew to location) and I still believe that is something they could get done, with a lot of hard work.
My biggest worries regarding it (and the biggest reasons I feel they haven't done it already) are making sure everyone gets to go, with most of the cast being freelance and therefore busy.
Another BIG thing is having enough crew to film IRL content. Since most of the crew works with 3 steady-cams and the occasional hand-cam, it is a big undertaking if they tried to film anything as chaotic as SSG Wild West or any of the other Games versions.
I don't think they currently have enough people to film it well. (meaning they would have to hire on more camera operators and everything else) Which I'm imagining is not only a big chunk of change $ but also hiring new people could make for an uncomfortable atmosphere.
As for them advertising it- I haven't seen ONE person that's in the Smosh fanbase not want them to continue doing SSG/SWG. I'm EXREMELY CONFIDENT that if they did some crowd funding they would hit the goal. No question. Which leads me onto the next big thing-
I'm curious if they haven't done it because of legal issues regarding health and safety.
Most of the games they would do involved a lot of potentially harmful 'stunts' that the cast did themselves (obviously), like the mouse trap blindfolded thing they did in SSG Camp, or the mechanical bull riding in Wild West (pretty much every season had some sort of dangerous activity) so I could see them not wanting to have someone get hurt and have legal action taken. (obviously I wouldn't want someone to get hurt regardless, but we're talking about absolutes)
I still think it's possible for them to do it, it would just take someone with gusto to head the whole thing (something Smosh has been missing recently). It makes me really miss some of the old producers.
I think I mentioned that if they were going to do SSG they would have already been planning it for at least a month (so that would be the minimum you said- 3 months) so I'm starting to think because that wasn't what they were teasing today that we aren't going to get SSG but SWG is still on the table?... maybe...?
So biggest things I can see causing trouble-
Not enough crew
Cast having enough freetime for a week(?) of videos
Legal is scary
Not having someone willing to lead the charge (it is a big undertaking)(but not impossible)
If they wanted to they would. But benefit of the doubt says timing is a cold hearted bitch.

so, i've been trying to figure out the meaning of elq's cryptic message he sent earlier, and this is the best translation i've got so far,
caelum caelestis et nullus ex vobis vivens. heavenly sky, though not any out of you all are living.
some notes:
"none of you are..." is probably a more eloquent translation, but i purposefully wanted to be very literal and include the meaning of 'ex' (out of), as well as show the plurality of 'vobis' (you [all])
'caelum' can also have the meaning of "weather/climate", though i couldn't find any sentences online utilizing this meaning. take of that what you will.
'et' usually means "and" or "both", but can mean "though/even if" in certain contexts. i went with the second definition as i thought it made more sense

Hello 👋
I hope you don't mind me asking but what is the difference between a Buddha and a Bodhisattva?
Hello!
Okay, so while keeping in mind that I'm a very raw beginner in understanding Buddhism and that this certainly doesn't involve everything these terms mean, a good working definition seems to be that a bodhisattva is an awakened being who has absolute sympathy for humanity and has devoted themselves both to helping humanity and to the goal of complete enlightenment, i.e. resolved to become a buddha, and a buddha is one who has achieved enlightenment.
That said, it should also be kept in mind that the Buddha is the holy name of Siddartha Guatama after he achieved enlightenment--he was in fact the first person to do so--and that he has a perfect understanding on the nature of things and acts as a mentor to help sentient beings learn how to relieve themselves from suffering and the cycle of reincarnation. There does also seem to be a tradition that says that the Buddha is the enlightened human, and while all humans are the non-Buddha, all sentient creatures have a Buddha nature and contain the potential of becoming the Buddha. Bodhisattvas furthermore also often seem to be understood as beings that have already achieved enlightenment, but then return to help humans. The bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara, who would later become the goddess of mercy Guanyin, is a good example of this.

Mother’s Instinct
So I have a theory on why Camila cried the moment her daughter disappeared (read: died). So she’s still new to this whole magic thing but I think it’s definitely been memorable especially when her other surrogate child nearly (or surely) died not too long ago. The only thing that saved him was flapjack and what do his and luz’s death have in common?
