Have YOU got an old Windows PC Microsoft has told you can't run Windows 11? It's time to give it a new life!
How to install Windows 11 on unsupported PC Hardware using Rufus. You can also disable some other Windows 11 bullshit like data harvesting and needing a Microsoft account.
It has been in the news a lot lately that Windows 11 isn't allowed to be installed on PCs without certain requirements, including the TPM 2.0, a chip that was only included in PCs made in 2018 or later. This means that once Windows 10 stops receiving security updates, those PCs will not be able to (officially) run a safe, updated version of Windows anymore. This has led to an estimated 240 million PCs bound for the landfill. Thanks Microsoft! I get you don't want to be seen as the insecure one, but creating this much waste can't be the solution.
(I know nerds, Linux is a thing. I love you but we are not having that conversation. If you want to use Linux on an old PC you are already doing it and you don't need to tell me about it. People need Windows for all sorts of reasons that Linux won't cut.)
So lately I have been helping some under privileged teens get set up with PCs. Their school was giving away their old lab computers, and these kids would usually have no chance to afford even a basic computer. They had their hard drives pulled so I have been setting them up with SSDs, but the question was, what to do about the operating system? So I looked into it and I found out there IS actually a way to bypass Microsoft's system requirement and put Windows 11 on PCs as old as 2010.
You will need: Rufus: An open source ISO burning tool.
A Windows 11 ISO: Available from Microsoft.
A USB Flash Drive, at least 16GB.
A working PC to make the ISO, and a PC from 2018 or older you want to install Windows 11 on.
Here is the guide I used, but I will put it in my own words as well.
Download your Windows 11 ISO, and plug in your USB drive. It will be erased, so don't have anything valuable on it. Run Rufus, select your USB drive in the Device window, and select your Windows 11 ISO with the Select button. (There is supposed to be a feature in Rufus to download your ISO but I couldn't get it to work.?
Tumblr media
Choose standard windows installation, and follow the screenshot for your settings. Once you are done that, press Start, and then the magic happens. Another window pops up allowing you to remove the system requirements, the need for a microsoft account, and turn off data collecting. Just click the options you want, and press ok to write your iso to a drive.
Tumblr media
From there you just need to use the USB drive to install windows. I won't go into details here, but here are some resources if you don't know how to do it.
Boot your PC from a USB Drive
Install Windows 11 from USB Drive
If you had a licensed copy of Windows 10, Windows 11 will already be licensed. If you don't, then perhaps you can use some kind of... Activation Scripts for Microsoft software, that will allow you to activate them. Of course I cannot link such tools here. So there you go, now you can save a PC made from before 2018 from the landfill, and maybe give it to a deserving teen in the process. The more we can extend the lives of technology and keep it out of the trash, the better.
Additional note: This removes the requirement for having 4GB Minimum of RAM, but I think that requirement should honestly be higher. Windows 11 will be unusable slow on any system with below 8GB of RAM. 8GB is the minimum I think you should have before trying this but it still really not enough for modern use outside of light web and office work. I wouldn't recommend trying this on anything with 4GB or less. I am honestly shocked they are still selling brand new Windows 11 PCs with 4GB of ram. If you're not sure how much RAM you have, you can find out in the performance tab of Task Manager in Windows, if you click the More Details icon on the bottom right. If you don't have enough, RAM for old systems is super cheap and widely available so it would definitely be worth upgrading if you have a ram starved machine you'd like to give a new life.

I understand the big kidnapping is a huge deal! As my Persephone rages against her floral cage wanting to be reunited with her CHOSEN FAMILY.
But can we at least mention that scene where Hades offers the pomegranate because for my PC this was the culmination of her character. Like finally she found a welcoming home that's willing to understand her and see her more than just an object, no longer will she feel like an suffocated bird in a cage with lines she can't cross, SHE IS FREE
And I'm not going to lie I did feel i of course wasn't going waste time choosing the option to eat it but when I saw the share the fruit with Hades I felt like I wanted to cry happy tears and maybe Hades felt the same.
Ever since PC got entangled with this marriage with him he must've felt so guilty even though he felt like it was the right thing to do and always wanted to give PC a choice
So when my Persephone smiles sweetly with tears in her eyes and offers to share (which I'm not going to lie kinda felt like a proper proposal)
Tumblr media
(pss: poor Kerberos he will get many headpats, snuggles, and treats wasn't his fault Demeter teleported PC away)
The fruit scenes were definitely a highlight of writing, for me. It was one of those things where I was super anxious, because people who know the myth are expecting a pomegranate to be relevant at some point, and for that to matter, but it also had to be quite different from the source material to fit the story FoA is.
So I'm glad you liked it!

Top 15 Skeleton Characters
Tumblr media
Happy Dia de los Muertos, everybody! Anybody who knows about the Day of the Dead knows it is really a celebration of life…and they also know that a major part of this holiday’s iconography is the imagery of skeletons and skulls. The human skeleton, in fact, is quite the ubiquitous visual: skeletons unsettle many people, on a fundamental level. Everybody has one, but if you’re actually SEEING one, that’s not a good sign: bones are the last vestiges of something long dead, and so there is always this automatic gut reaction of perturbation that comes with them. Of course, there’s also a recognition that life was present, which can, in its own odd way, be heartwarming. Skeleton characters - or even characters who are simply skulls or have skull faces - are thus a major part of many fictional worlds. They can be used to mock death, or celebrate life, or they can be used to represent fear and destruction. Regardless, they are always interesting to see, as commonplace as some may claim them to be. So, I decided, if today is a day about celebrating life through the imagery of death, it was only fitting to do something to celebrate the many characters who, effectively, do the same thing, one way or another. Now, I’m only going to be counting ACTUAL skeletal characters here, so to speak; characters like the Phantom of the Opera, Red Skull from Marvel, or Skull Face from “Metal Gear Solid V,” will not count. They evoke the imagery of a skull, but they’re really just deformed human beings, not actual collections of living bones. Also, I won’t be counting gatherings of skeletons (with one exception), such as the various skeleton-themed enemies you’ll find in video games, or the famous Harryhausen skeletons from “Jason and the Argonauts.” They aren’t really “characters” so much as “creatures,” so I don’t think they fit the bill. With that said, let’s waste no more time! Here are my Top 15 Skeleton Characters!
Tumblr media
15. Skelly, from I Spy: Spooky Mansion.
Here’s a more obscure option to start things off. How many of you had I Spy books or played the I Spy PC games when you were younger? I know I did. This picture-puzzle series could be surprisingly challenging, and I was always fascinated by the way they organized the photos in the books, not to mention the animation in the PC titles. “Spooky Mansion” was always my favorite game and book, mostly because…well…I like Spooky Mansions! (Even did a list about them, go and take a look at that, tis the season.) Skelly was essentially our Tour Guide for the game: a mischievous but not malicious skeleton who loved to play games with people and spook them silly. She traps us inside her haunted house and challenges us to find various pieces of a puzzle in order to escape; none of this is done with evil intent, she simply wants to play! I always found Skelly a wonderful mix of creepy and sweet, almost like an Addams Family character; that’s always a great blend.
Tumblr media
14. Skeleton King, from Super Robot Monkey Team Hyper Force GO!
Imagine Skeletor on a REALLY bad day. That would basically be this monstrosity in a nutshell. The main antagonist of this (incredibly weirdly named) superhero series, the Skeleton King was once a good-hearted scientist, who wished to help the world; it was he who created the titular Monkey Team. However, things changed when the man began to study the dark forces of the Netherworld; assured in his safety from them, he later paid the price of his hubris, as the dark spirits were released, and ending up possessing and corrupting the scientist, body and soul. He thus became the Skeleton King: a cyborganic ghoul who plots to destroy the entire universe. The King was a deliciously creepy villain, and much of his menace can be owed to his voice actor: none other than the Joker himself, Mark Hamill. Honestly, if that name alone doesn’t interest you in this character right away from the start, there’s not much more I can say that will convince you to give him a look.
Tumblr media
13. Sir Daniel Fortesque, from MediEvil.
Sir Daniel is a tragically comic case: for ages after his death, this knight was hailed as a hero, believed to have been a mythical and powerful figure who died nobly for a righteous cause. In truth, he was a bungling coward who was killed in the very first seconds of battle, and never really did anything grand at all; somewhere along the line, the facts of his life got all twisted up. When the evil he once fought (or, at least, wanted to fight) rears its ugly head again many years later, Sir Daniel Fortesque is brought back from the grave to do battle once more...but, of course, not being a hero at all, he now has to prove himself. “MediEvil” becomes a typical quest of an unlikely hero; someone trying to live up to the reputation he garnered over time, trying to earn respect from those who know the truth. It’s a classic kind of setup, only enhanced by the unique, Tim-Burton-esque visual styling of the game…not to mention Sir Daniel’s absolutely hilarious running cycle. I guess he went to the Ministry of Silly Walks before his demise.
Tumblr media
12. Bob, from The Dresden Files.
So far, I’ve only finished the first six books of “The Dresden Files,” but it’s already a favorite series of mine. (Also, if you’re only familiar with the TV series…that doesn’t count here, since their version of Bob is rather different.) The series details the many adventures of “consulting wizard,” Harry Dresden, and blends elements of noir-style detective mystery storytelling with doses of dark fantasy and Gothic horror. One of my favorite characters is undeniably Bob: an eccentric ghost who inhabits a skull in Harry’s home. Bob is intended to be a sort of living encyclopedia for Harry to consult when on a case; he has been around for centuries, and helped many wizards in his time, making him an extremely valuable source of information. However, Bob is also…well…freaking hilarious. He’s always got his mind in the gutter, and he’s always filled with snark and a ready-to-whip-out insult or quip, leading to some pretty funny dialogue any time he’s featured. Generally, whenever Harry consults Bob, that’s when things are about to get truly serious…but it’s hard to remember that past all the pure, glorious silliness he provides. The only reason Bob doesn’t rank higher is that he is literally JUST a skull, and on top of that, the skull probably isn’t even his own: it’s just his way of communicating with Dresden in the world of the living, sort of like a crystal ball or other conduit of knowledge. Still, I feel he counts enough.
Tumblr media
11. Captain Bones, from Crashbox.
Made for HBO, this series was one of my favorite shows EVER when I was a kid. “Crashbox” was a show that really went outside the box with how an educational program could also be entertaining! It used various styles of animation in numerous scenarios and skits to showcase all kinds of different skills. Basic stuff like math, history, sciences, social studies, and so on were featured, but you’d also have things that challenged your critical thinking or problem solving skills, with puzzles and riddles that weren’t necessarily things you’d be taught at school, but were still important things to learn. It was all done with this irreverent tone; the series was utterly bonkers, so it was always a joy to watch even as it taught you all the skills it tried to push. Captain Bones was one of the most frequent skits in the series, and also one of my favorites. “The Incredibly Dead Captain Bones” was a skeletal ghost pirate cursed to Sail the Seven Seas for an eternity. “And I’ll tell ya,” the Captain would sigh, “I’m a Bored Stiff.” (Har Har.) To keep himself from dying of boredom (…presumably a second time…), the old pirate would use his own bones to create math and picture puzzles, which the viewer would be challenged to try and figure out before he showed them the answer. What made Captain Bones hilarious…were his insults. This guy was the KING of Insult Comedy, able to come up with all kinds of incredible, colorful phrases without ever getting dirty or lewd, given the fact this WAS made for kids. If you don’t agree…“THEN YER NOT FIT TO WALK THE DECK OF ME GHOST SHIP, ye crustacean-sucking, knock-kneed, squid-faced, plank-walking sack of soiled, sea-salted, unwashed fish buckets of barnacles for brains!”
Tumblr media
10. Lord Ainz, from Overlord.
I haven’t seen a whole lot of “Overlord” yet, which is the primary reason Ainz only BARELY crosses the threshold into the Top 10. Trust me, if I’d seen more, he’d probably be WAY higher. “Overlord” is a classic Isekai anime series: the plot focus on a young man who ends up zapped into a video game world, which he had once been a player of. He finds that he has been transformed into the character he created: a hyper-powerful dark skeleton warlord, known as Ainz Ooal Gown (or “Lord Ainz” for short). The interesting thing about this isekai is the way Ainz is played, and how he evolves over the course of the series; as time goes on, he loses more and more of his humanity, as his personality, morality, and ethical viewpoints start to merge and become less like his own back on Earth, and more like those of the character he created. This leads to a lot of gray area in the morality of Ainz, as he seeks to conquer the world - the typical goal of many a great dark lord - but has surprisingly understandable motivations for doing so. From what I’ve seen so far, the series is quite interesting, and Ainz is an equally interesting character…but I’ve only scratched the surface of this show, so I don’t think it’s fair to give him TOO high a rank JUST yet. But still, Top 10 ain't bad, right?
Tumblr media
9. Bonejangles, from Corpse Bride.
There’s really not a whole lot to say about this guy, I just really love him. Though a fairly small part on the whole, Bonejangles is arguably one of the most recognizable characters in the Tim Burton animated picture “Corpse Bride.” A hollow skeleton with a single eyeball, which he rolls back and forth between his sockets, this limber, jazzy fellow appears to be pretty close to the titular character, Emily - the ghost of a bride-to-be who died mysteriously. It is he who tells the story of the Corpse Bride to our protagonist, Victor Van Dort, via the song “Remains of the Day,” easily the best song in the film’s soundtrack. While his time onscreen is small, he makes an immediate impression, and Danny Elfman’s gravelly, raspy vocals only add to the clattering, rambunctious skeleton’s fun personality. In short, Bonejangles is proof that big characters can come in small packages.
Tumblr media
8. The Horned King, from The Black Cauldron.
This movie was HATED when it came out - notoriously, “The Black Cauldron” lost to the CARE BEARS when it premiered. (I wish I was joking about that.) However, over time, the movie has garnered something of a cult following, mostly for its dark and often rather brutal atmosphere (which is still rather pale compared to the Lloyd Alexander novels the film is loosely based upon). One thing almost everybody loves about the film is the villain: the lich-like Horned King, voiced impeccably by John Hurt. A cross between the character of the same name from the first book, “The Book of Three,” and the evil Lord Arawn, the main antagonist of the series, Disney’s incarnation of the character is easily one of the most mysterious and frightening of their animated baddies. Essentially a living corpse (who has horns growing out of his head, for some reason), the Horned King is a powerful sorcerer who wishes to destroy all of mankind. (Why? Probably because he’s tired of everyone around him having noses.) To this end, he and his goblin-like assistant, Creeper, seek out Hen-Wen, a pig who somehow has gained oracular abilities, allowing her to find the hiding place of the titular Black Cauldron. The Cauldron is an ancient piece of crockery possessed by the spirit of a long-dead king, which can create an army of living dead brutes, “The Cauldron Born.” In the end, the King is thwarted by Taran, a young farm boy who has been thrust into a quest to stop him, and is sucked into the Cauldron itself. In arguably the goriest death scene in a Disney movie, the King is stripped of his soul, and his FLESH (what little he has), as his life force is sucked into the Cauldron’s hellish depths, before EXPLODING in a flash of light and dust. A fittingly gruesome end for this bony fiend.
Tumblr media
7. Arc, from Skeleton Knight in Another World.
Much like Overlord, this is another fantasy isekai anime series, in which the main character is transformed into a character they played in a video game. And, just like then, said main character is an extremely powerful skelly-dude. HOWEVER, that’s about where the similarities between this show and “Overlord” stop. In “Skeleton Knight in Another World,” Arc is not a villain who plays the hero of his own story…but instead just a hero, period. In fact, a big part of the series is that he worries about people seeing his true bone face, as he knows the sight of a giant living skeleton will probably be seen as a bad sign by many. Arc is a wonderfully fun protagonist: like many characters in this sort of scenario, he is equal parts bold and admirably strong…and sort of a total dork. The human life he left behind clashes constantly with the uber-heroic facade he tries to put on (complete with a bold and daring laugh, which is absolutely glorious), leading to a great deal of humor. While Ainz is probably the more popular character between these two, I’ve actually finished all of “Skeleton Knight” (at least with what’s available thus far), and I generally prefer Arc a little bit more, based on what I’ve seen. Therefore, he gets higher marks on the list. Also, on a side note…the theme song to this show is absolutely freaking GLORIOUS, seriously, go take a listen to it.
Tumblr media
6. Basically the Entire Cast of “Coco.”
This is the exception to the "no groups of characters" rule I made. I know it’s cheating to include a whole bunch of skeletons, instead of just one, but I felt that, in this case, it was warranted. It’s fitting I’m posting this on the Day of the Dead, because that’s what this film is actually inspired by and based around. This Pixar movie tells the story of a young boy named Miguel, who loves music. However, due to personal tragedy, his family has banned any member from being a musician. Believing his great-grandfather to be a legendary musician, Miguel goes on a quest to rekindle the love of music in his family…and, in the process, ends up in the Land of the Dead, which is populated by a whole world of Dia de los Muertos-inspired skeletons. Ranging from friendly sorts, like the eccentric Hector, and multiple late members of Miguel’s family, to the more villainous Ernesto de la Cruz, choosing just one character to represent an entire film of colorful, whimsical bunches of bones seemed next to impossible. So, yeah, I’m just counting the entire movie here. My list, my choice. So sue me. :P
Tumblr media
5. Ghost Rider, from Marvel.
A prominent anti-hero of the Marvel universe, the Ghost Rider has gone through many incarnations. One early interpretation, later re-named the Phantom Rider (big difference, I know), isn’t a skeleton at all, nor a supernatural entity of any kind. Instead, the first Ghost Rider was a Wild Western hero and horseman, who used his ghostly costume and magic tricks to frighten his enemies - think of a cross between the Lone Ranger and Batman. Later interpretations, however, took a different path. The most famous Ghost Rider is Johnny Blaze: a stunt daredevil who was tutored largely by his adoptive father, Crash Simpson. (Good lord, these names sound like video game characters from Nintendo…) When Crash developed an inoperable cancer, a grief-stricken Johnny made a deal with the Devil himself to try and save him. Needless to say, it didn’t go so well. Now, Blaze - and others who would share his curse - must roam the land hunting down evildoers, fighting both mortal and supernatural villainy in an endless quest to avenge the innocent. The Ghost Riders all share common visual elements: fiery skeletal bodies, leather clothes, chain-based weapons, and of course, AWESOME motorcycles to ride upon. Their power over the fires of Hell itself are their primary weapons, however, with a variety of different attacks and powers available to Blaze and his later compatriots in the war to seek out the evil and punish them for their sins...hopefully while avoiding ending up in terrible Nicolas Cage outings. No promises on that one.
Tumblr media
4. Sans & Papyrus, from Undertale.
Oh, God, I LOVE Undertale. And more than that, perhaps, I LOOOOVE Sans and Papyrus! The Skeleton Brothers are easily my favorite characters in the game, and the most identifiable for me, in many ways. Sans is, in some ways, Undertale’s equivalent to the Doctor from “Doctor Who”: he is a comedic, laid-back, somewhat eccentric character who uses his unassuming appearance and “dopey” personality as a facade. As many a player quickly learns, Sans is far more powerful, far more DANGEROUS than he looks or seems, able to go from cracking a terrible pun to threatening you with painful death in a split second. If you get on his bad side, “you’re gonna have a bad time.” His brother, Papyrus, on the other hand, is sort of the reverse: at first glance, Papyrus seems like your typical “over-the-top villain.” His signature laugh, twisted design, and sense of self-importance all make him about as fiendish as can be...all he’s missing is a top hat or a moustache to twirl! But it quickly becomes clear that Papyrus is neither as evil, nor as clever, as he likes to seem: in reality, he’s really a rather harmless sort of bony fellow, and would much rather befriend you than murder you with his incredibly elaborate, Wile-E.-Coyote-esque death traps. (Much like with Wile E., the traps never work the way they should.) Dealing with these brothers is a BIG part of figuring out the events of Undertale, and the path your adventure will take in the game. Whether you love them as much as I do or not, I advise you to decide wisely.
Tumblr media
3. Skeletor, from He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.
There have been several different takes on Eternia’s greatest villain over the years (my favorite will always be the original, but I do like many, if not all, of the other interpretations out there). No matter which one you look at, Skeletor is a very fun villain, and is easily one of the most iconic skull-faced scoundrels out there. A dark wizard who longs to take over Castle Grayskull, and learn all its secrets for his own evil ends, Skeletor’s evil ranges from cartoonish to truly cruel, depending on which version you look at, but there’s always a wonderful blend of both creepiness and genuine menace that accompanies him. It’s hard to not make references to this guy when looking at other bony characters, and he’s given rise to more memes than you can shake a sorcerer’s scepter at. Really, what more can I say? It’s Skeletor: by virtue of his recognition alone, he’s more than earned a spot in the Top Three.
Tumblr media
2. The Grim Reaper.
Arguably the single most iconic skeletal figure in history, the Grim Reaper - the embodiment of death itself - could really take up an entire list of his own. (And he probably will, one day.) There are so many versions of the Reaper out there, it’s kind of amazing: when people imagine what death’s avatar looks like, it’s likely that the typical imagery of a skeletal figure, garbed in a dark cloak and carrying a scythe, is the first thing they will imagine. Sometimes the Reaper is depicted as a humorous and comical figure, such as the version found in “The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy.” On many occasions he is depicted as an evil monster, such as the version of Death found in the “Castlevania” franchise. Other times, he is something of a neutral force, as death is neither truly good nor evil when you think about it; probably my favorite example of this is the one found in Terry Pratchett’s “Discworld” universe. Bottom line, I think the fact that skeletons so often represent death, to the point where the very embodiment of the Angel of Death is depicted AS a skeleton, speaks for itself as to why this ranks so highly. Honestly, I was tempted to make this choice number one, but I decided against it for several reasons. Still, iconic as the concept of the Grim Reaper is, the character - in pretty much all his forms - has more than earned high praise here.
Tumblr media
1. Jack Skellington, from The Nightmare Before Christmas.
“Nightmare” is one of my favorite films of all time, if not my absolute favorite. It’s not a complex movie, really, but its simplicity is part of what makes it so wonderful! Jack is, by extension, one of my favorite characters of all time: hailed as “The Pumpkin King With the Skeleton Grin,” this dapper, noble, gentlemanly bonehead is the ruler of Halloween Town, a world of ghosts, goblins, and ghouls (oh, my!) whose only job is to make Halloween as frightening as possible. But, despite his undead state, and wicked sense of humor, there is no malice in Jack’s mischief; he just sees it as a job. A job he’s apparently very, VERY good at, from the few examples the film and other spin-offs give us. Jack’s really a very good sort; charming and debonair, but also rather naive. A cockeyed optimist in his own way, and a bit of a prima donna, Jack’s over-the-top antics and spirit of adventure are what often get him into trouble; he has a problem with thinking things through. However, when things go wrong, Jack is ready for action, and quick to take responsibility, take charge, and take chances. His heart is in the right place at all times, even if his brain doesn’t always get there right away. Mixing intelligence and charisma with a childlike simplicty - much like the movie he hails from, in fact - Jack Skellington is an endearing and interesting character who deserves every bit of love he gets from myself and the world over. He’s just as iconic as the Grim Reaper, Skeletor, and others on this list, if not more so! And for all these reasons and more, I happily (albeit pointlessly) name Jack Skellington my Favorite Skeletal Character!
HONORABLE MENTIONS INCLUDE…
Captain Barbossa, from Pirates of the Caribbean. (He really only counts for the first film, which is why I didn’t include him on the main list.)
The Speaking Skull, from The Last Unicorn.
Manolo Sanchez, from The Book of Life.
Spinal, from Killer Instinct.

Guuuys i finally see a CRPS doctor this week!
Tw: brief mention of wishing self harm, and mention of medical abuse.
So for 4 years ive had undiagnosed chronic pain, its severe, ive been bed/house bound for 2 years and need a wheelchair when i leave the house.
I talk alot about my experience with being disabled, but i usually don't talk about my actual symptoms often.
I can't use a computer 90% of the time, on good days, which is now twice a week, but used to be never, i can play pc games in 20 minute increments, twice a day. I can't wash dishes, i cant walk without pain, i can't sit in chairs without pain. Im stuck laying in bed, all day, everyday. I usually can't make art, sometimes i can. Im just in bed, on my phone, in constant pain. Its a VERY difficult existence and i have often wished i didn't have limbs because the pain can be so intense.
So ive gone to countless doctors, rheumatologists, a pain specialist, an orthopedic, a neurologist. The reason im always saying stuff like "doctors are scum" is because every single doctor ive ever met has minimized this pain, lied to me and told me they'd do everything they can and didn't, and purposefully wasted my time. I even traveled to a different state to see rheumatologists, they saw me twice, i literally cried and begged these people to give me medicine for the pain, they gave me a shot that they said would help for 2 weeks, it helped for 30 minutes, when i asked them what to do they ignored me. They diagnosed me with fibro specifically so they could get me to leave them alone. I knew that diagnosis was incorrect. Last doctor i saw was a neurologist, i told her i needed to be tested for CRPS, because that was the only lead we had left. She scheduled a brain mri and nerve damage test, they came back normal. I brought up that there is no test for CRPS, she said i was right, and i could definitely have it, but she said she can't diagnose it and i need to see a pain doctor. I told her first time i saw her what i was looking for, and she mislead me into thinking she had experience with crps, and wasted my valuable time and money with tests that were irrelevant. My pain doctor wasn't an option because he doesn't treat crps because he doesn't believe it exists.
So i was lost
Every doctor i knew actively worked against me and none of them could refer me to a CRPS specialist.
But last week i simply googled "crps doctor near me", i found one close by, called them, they didn't require a referral, and the appointment was scheduled a week later. No 2 months wait time, no bullshit doctors approval. Just a phone call away. Im seeing them in 3 days. Wish me luck!
To others out there struggling to get diagnosed, im rooting for you.

something with f!bailey and rimming? don't care who's rimming who, surprise me
minors do NOT interact
surprise! I want to rim bailey
A/N: as much as I would want this to happen in canon, I really can’t think of any situations where Bailey would actually let you so I just made something up
TAGS: f!bailey x gn!pc; bailey is accidentally affected by plant aphrodisiacs; rimming (very explicit), fingering, masturbation, face-sitting
bailey made the mistake of going through your garden—presumably trying to find something to make profit off of, but instead found herself overwhelmed by the aphrodisiac properties of your plants. she tried to shove past you, to get the fuck out of there, but you told her you could help.
it took a lot of convincing and promises that you’d up your payment for next week, but it worked. so here you are in her office, with bailey lying her stomach, legs spread on her desk. it’s not a position you ever thought you’d be in.
“overwhelmed?” bailey says snarkily.
“a bit,” you whisper, running your finger beside her tight pucker. kissing one of bailey’s cheeks, you let your lips trail down, hovering above her hole. bailey grinds her ass against your face, and you feel your sex throb. you can smell the body soap still lingering on her skin from her morning shower.
“I don’t have all day. stop wasting my time or I’ll find a better use for you.”
“I’ll help, just...” you press a kiss to her hole, letting your eyes become hooded. “give me... a second.” you grab her ass, spreading it wide to expose her twitching hole.
bailey’s sharp exhale is all you need to hear. you dive in without restraint, licking at her hole. her sweet pucker sucks you in then spits you out, like it doesn’t know what to do with the sudden stimulation. it’s messy and dirty and so fucking hot.
“more,” she hisses, hips bucking against your tongue.
you reach over her thigh and starting rubbing at her clit, and bailey’s hole spasms around your tongue.
“fuck, bailey,” you moan.
you trace your fingers over her labia, letting the wetness coat your fingers. you rub harder at her clitoris in quick circles. at this point, you’re full on making out with her rim, feeling it quiver on your tongue. bailey’s body can’t seem to decide which way to grind—either into your mouth, or against your hand, so she just digs her hand against the corner of her desk, knuckles turning white.
bailey’s wetness—the smell of her slick reaches your nose and you go dizzy. you can’t help yourself, bringing your hand down and rubbing it against your sex, spreading bailey’s arousal against yourself. you buck forward with a gasp, then lean back to catch your breath.
“what the hell do you think you’re doing?” bailey snaps, grabbing you by the hair and shoving your face back into her ass. “get off to me on your own time.”
“s-sorry,” you whisper, but given how your sex is throbbing, you’re really not sorry at all.
bailey is rubbing her own clit now, fast and harsh. you let your fingers creep up beside them, and slip inside. there’s no resistance, bailey’s wetness pouring down your hand like a waterfall. bailey lets out a moan, pussy clamping down on your fingers. her cunt sucks hungrily, pulsating around you.
your eyes roll to the back of your head as you dream about getting off after this. the feeling of bailey still lingering on your tongue and fingers—it’s nearly orgasmic just thinking about it.
bailey can tell she’s lost your attention again, because she abruptly pulls away from you.
“what—?”
your fingers feel cold without her pussy around you. she hops off the desk, shoving you down onto it so you lie where she was. she swings her legs over you, so she’s straddling you, ass hovering above your face.
“maybe now you’ll pay attention, hm?” she smiles, and sits on your face.

it's so funny, but recently i was going through my dnd tag and i found a post from 2019 talking about wanting to make a half humanoid half "peacock aarakocra" dnd pc, inspired by a half-kenku pc i saw a drawing of
flash forward to september of fucking 2022, when I conceptualized lady morwenna for jennie's regency game and went "BUT WHAT IF PEACOCK???" They're not half aarakocra (i can't give away their exact race bc Spoilers) but they are literally half peacock from the waist down and its so funny to me how some ideas can recede but never really leave. it's even funnier because i had completely forgotten about that 2019 post, but saw Yet Another dnd character who was bird from the waist down and just went "I gotta fuckin get me one of those" and then Oops! Peacock
on that note, fourthborn (the campaign i ran recently) had the themes of the forces of the universe being Creation, Change, Destruction, and Balance (which is the Fourthborn the party had to bring into being)
...creation change destruction and balance was an old idea for, of all things, daosa (mad brownie points if you can remember that project, jfc) that ended up getting scrapped before it got too far into conceptualization. daosa at that point was probably....i wanna say that would've been in 2014-2016 when that particular idea was being noodled on in regards to daosa? and i started tinkering on fourthborn in december of 2021/january of 2022? in between those periods i attended and graduated college???
this is just to say: its so interesting to see how old ideas come back to seep into newer works, and nothing loved is ever truly wasted. if you love an idea but can't use it right this second, it'll come back. promise <3

Love Hard. the day my life changed forever.
tw: death of a loved one. Mentions of death and trauma. DO NOT READ if you don't feel ok reading this type of poems/stories. It's about my experience with the death of a loved one.
a/n: I wrote this because I don’t find another way to express what I feel better than writing. My bf passed away on the 31st of May of 2015. He was driving when a drunk bastard hit him with such force, he obviously didn’t make it. If you are wondering what happened to his murderer, he isn’t in jail. Justice stated that since he was drunk “he didn’t mean to kill anybody”. Yeah… that’s how things work here In any case, please, don’t drink and drive. You might not get hurt, but you can destroy many lives forever.  I’m ok. I’m just sad during these days. Not posting this to gain anything else but spread some awareness. Just love your loved ones as much as you can, with such intensity as if it was the last time, you are seeing them each and every time.
Tumblr media
And I knew, I always knew. He even knew, too.
"Me? I'm gonna die young!" he said, "My car is nothing but a coffin, I should buy a new one" he stated one day.
He lived miles apart from me, we didn't see each other every day, oh no. I had to travel to hug him, He had to travel to kiss me.
But we were happy.
Happy until the world stop spinnning, for me, for him.
I remember staying in my city because "I gotta study for my last 2 finals!". I remember him saying "Stay and study, graduate from Uni and let's get married".
But, I graduated And I didn't get married.
And I also remember fighting with him some days before. Because he never listened when I begged him to be careful. And he was to proud of himself to ever accept I was right.
That Sunday something felt off, from the very start. He hadn’t talked to me for some days then, And I knew the only free day he had were Sundays. But I was too proud to send him a text, I decided to wait.
The clock, the clock marked 19:29. I still remember it. I felt the most painful sting on my stomach, it made me crunch and kneel into the ground. And I cried without a reason, but with a sadness taking over my whole soul.
And I didn’t know why, I really didn’t know.
But soon I’d found the reason why. Fifteen minutes have passed, and I sat on my pc to calm myself down. Facebook showed in the news page of his little country town a photo of just a little corner of a car.
And I just knew, that was our car. Our destroyed car.
Soon the call, And soon my life changing with barely 21 years old. Leaving a dark void, deep enough to know maybe it will never stop growing.
And soon I understood we shouldn’t wait, we shouldn’t stop ourselves from loving, because pride is nothing when the people you love is not there any longer.
Someone had taken his life away from me, from his family, from our world.
Do not waste time, Love so hard. Nothing matters the most than love.
Future? The future is nothing without love. Don’t waste time, Love so fucking hard.

Satyr, elf, dwarf, genasi, paladin, bard, fighter, warlock
Hi!! this got a little rambly and long lmao but here we go:
Satyr: how did you discover critical role
okay so!! This was apparently just before crit role started streaming, cause it was 8 years ago, and anyway, I went to a signing for Matt at a con. I'm incredibly shy, but he was just very nice and friendly. Some time later, I started seeing pretty VM art and heard people talking about this DND thing that Matt Mercer did with some other VA's and I was like, oh!! I've heard of him!
I tried getting right into C1 but I felt like it was maybe a little daunting to catch up at that point. But then not long after, C1 wrapped up, and they announced they were doing another campaign. So it seemed like the perfect opportunity to start watching, be there right for the beginning of the new game. And I still remember when C2 was first teased, they posted this art of the party--but just their sihlouettes.
And it was just so fun to see everyone guessing at what kind of class everyone was and who was playing what character, and there was!! this one very striking sihlouette in particular! This one with HORNS and pretty jewelry and!! tHIS ADORABLE LITTLE TAIL!! and anyway I saw that sihlouette and I was like!! That one! I want to see that one! And watched the first episode of C2 live absolutely vibrating with excitement and when Mollymauk first showed up I knew I was already so far gone, it was hopeless--
Elf: what is your favorite side campaign
I really liked EXU Calamity!! Even if it absolutely broke my heart, it was just so much fascinating world building and character arcs. And I'm just so weak for anything related to the Age of Arcanum.
Dwarf: what is your favorite one-shot
THE SONG OF THE LORELEI!! I love blood hunters and werewolves and the concept of all the PCs being family. The sibling rivalry and banter, the mysterious family history and the way each character chooses whether to carry on this legacy or find their own path--there's just a lot of little things I loved.
Genasi: who is your favorite campaign 3 character (so far)
Funnily enough, my favorite character is a genasi, and it's Ashton!! I love the whole concept of dunamancy as raw, primal power and chaos--as opposed to the very refined science of spellwork and theorems we see from Dynasty wizards. It's just such an interesting contrast and the unpredictability of it is so fun. Love watching Taliesin react to what he rolls for those chaos bursts.
Also adore Ash's whole personality and the little so far we've uncovered about their past. I love his little found family and the way they're so protective of people when they insist they don't have friends. Grappling with their fear of abandonment and attachment, gradually learning to up again and heal. Also, Taliesin playing another trans character just makes me so so happy. Soft barbarian my beloved,,
Paladin: what is your favorite friendship
aHH the circus kids!! I think it's such a tragedy that we never got to see more of them, and it makes all of their little moments all the more heartfelt and poignant. Yasha saying that she just got attached to Molly because "he was Molly," seeing him in all his color and vibrance and joy--"he was so beautiful." A spark of life when she had been traveling so long in the wastes, where everything was dead and nothing grew, where there was no color in the world. And then there's Molly, and he shines like a beacon.
Molly making sure Yasha has ways to find them when they leave town. Kissing her on the forehead when she comes back. The aftermath of the Zone of Truth spell, when Molly's just leaning into her for comfort and thanking her for being there for him. Molly opening up to Yasha about being genderfluid, about how he really feels and what his tattoos mean to him.
Molly waking from the resurrection feeling so lost and pained and Empty--running away and holding his head in his hands until Yasha goes to his side and comforts him, promises him he's not Empty anymore. The sheer adoration and warmth in his voice when he calls her Love, the moments when he gives her the biggest hug and hands her the flowers he picked just for her and Beau.
The fact that Molly spent so long at the circus waiting for the next time Yasha would show, trusting that she'd always come back when she's ready, that she'd never leave them for good. Yasha still faintly hoping and praying, mourning Molly for so long until finally, finally--he comes home. And this time, Yasha gets to be the one to welcome him back and bring some color and warmth to his life.
Bard: what is your favorite “how do you want to do this?”
The vision of Yasha ripping Obann's wings off while lit by the temple's shattered stained glass is just so very thematically satisfying and striking, I'll never get over it.
But Jester staring down at Lucien and telling Molly that she knows he's in there, that they all love him so much and they want him back--that always breaks me. The poetry of Jester being the one to strike down Lucien when she's the one who read his tarot cards and told him, "Facing you is death," but says it is a comfort. Death--not as cruelty or something monstrous, but as a new beginning, an end so something new can be born--death coming to you and sitting beside you, holding your hand and telling you it will be okay.
Two tieflings, two parts of a matching set, a deck drawn by them both--Jester and Molly, death and rebirth. I love them so much.
Fighter: what was your favorite funny moment
I absolutely adore the classics of 1) Vox Machina spends like four spell slots, 25 minutes, and takes 10 damage trying to open x1 door in Whitestone, and 2) THE HOSPITAL HEIST and especially eVERYTHING Molly did for it. The image of him crashing through a window full of glass and acting like he just did a ten point landing and then jumping into Fjord's arms while he's trying to convince some nearby guards that Molly ran off in the opposite direction--pure art.
Warlock: what is your favorite critical role merch
MOLLY AND JESTER'S TAROT DECK!! I've been longing for that merch for years and it's everything I wanted. I love the little introduction written from Molly's point of view and all the lore tidbits we get about Moonweaver worship and Moonweaver oracle decks. I've also just always had a love of tarot cards, and this is actually my first oracle deck, so I was really excited!
The way these decks are often destroyed and rebuilt from scratch over and over, sometimes as often as the passing phases of the moon--how this reflects Molly's own soul and his fluidity in transformation and renewal between lives. The fact that Molly really does use his cards to try and help people, and that there's another group aligned with Ruidus who make red moon decks designed just to deceive and manipulate their marks.
Molly's cards and art being influenced by the ideals of Moonweaver worship and his heart for adventure and romance. The way he really did draw cards for all the Mighty Nein, making them a part of his life and the story his deck tells--I just love him and Jester and this lovely collaboration of art they did together. (Also, Jester's little notes in the margins of the pamphlet are so cute!)

Mire's Disaster Platinum Cartridge: Chansey Hunt
The lengths I went to to 1) find a Chansey and 2) steal it's lucky egg were astronomical, but not as bad as they could have been.
As I mentioned in this post, my single New Years Resolution was to work towards finishing the games I already have instead of buying new ones. My primary console is the Switch but I still have my DS/3DS games and a functioning console.
The game was in shambles. Items and pokemon had been transferred irreversibly to my Gen 5 game cartridges (details in the other post) and I honestly would have just scrapped the save file and started over but every single entry for legendaries had been filled out, and a truly complete pokedex is where I am defining completion. Since the pokemon that filled those entries cannot be transferred back into this game, I am not willing to scrap it and start over.
I got started pretty much immediately, catching what I could, and level grinding to evolve what couldn't be caught.
I noticed right away that the new pokemon games spoil us in terms of speed of game-play and ease of leveling up pokemon. It felt incredibly slow when I first started (it's been a month, I've adjusted) both in terms of game mechanics and rate of EXP collection, which makes building a living dex a challenge.
So I looked for my EXP share.
No dice.
I looked for a Lucky Egg.
No, of course not. How unfortunate!
On the bright side, my entry for Chansey was empty as well, so at least a Chansey hunt wouldn't be a complete waste of time.
Anyone that's played the earlier games knows that Chansey is a massive pain in the ass, to find and to catch. It has a very low spawn rate, and that's before you consider how infrequently it spawns with a Lucky Egg. At every location it can be found, it spawns 5%, regardless of time of day. Each Chansey that appears has a 5% chance of holding a Lucky Egg, making the overall Lucky Egg Chansey encounter rate 0.25% (or 1/400 for you fraction people).
There are ways to make this easier, though.
1) Move: Thief
First I went looking for the TM Thief. I checked my bag (not there) and its drop location (nope), then checked the internet to find where to buy it (it's not used competitively, so they don't sell it at the Battle Frontier and you can't buy TMs in the Grand Underground like in BDSP for Switch—ugh). I must've used it at some point, but I was 9 when I started this save file, so I won't pretend I was doing anything other than having fun.
The good news: two pokemon can learn it: Mightyena and Kecleon. I'd either have to find Poochyena using the PokeRadar and evolve it, or go on a Safari for Kecleon.
I went on a safari, because that seemed like less effort than the PokeRadar, but I forgot to check the daily pokemon before I started so I just used the time to cheaply fill in some of the spots in my truly barren pokedex (I remain mystified how I managed to beat the Elite Four based on the lack of effort I put into this game)
Kecleon obviously wasn't there (I checked after just to make sure I hadn't missed it) so I looked into alternatives to Thief, just in case, and found out that the move Covet works exactly the same way (woohoo!) AND it happened to be a move that the Illumise I'd caught two hours prior knew!
Which means I have the perfect way to take the egg without needing to beat the Chansey enough to catch it. Chansey hunt commences.
2) Repel Filtering
Due to slow game-play, I was able to focus on finding a Chansey and searching for alternatives, which is when I came across a technique where you can filter out any Pokemon weaker than the one in your first slot by using Repels.
Chansey spawns on RTE 209 at Lv 17 and Lv 19, so I dug a Lv 19 pokemon from my PC box and went to town with the repels (while continuing to do more research in the background).
Of course, no luck.
3) Compound Eyes
During the continued research, I found a post that said you can increase the odds of Chansey holding a Lucky Egg from 5% to 20% by having a pokemon with the ability Compound Eyes in the first slot. (This brings our total odds of Chansey + Egg to 1% which still sucks but is better than 0.25%)
By this point, it's been about an hour and a half, two eggless Chansey that refused to be caught, so I figured it was worth a shot, but I now have two very specific constraints on first slot pokemon: Lv 19 and with Compound Eyes ability.
Fear not! Remember that Safari trip I took?
It turns out that the Yanma I caught has Compound Eyes. Extremely fortuitous. Safari Yanma is Lv 27, so I sent it to Daycare with the Ditto that was already in there (thanks for the oversight, preteen Mire!). I got an egg, I hatched the egg, and started leveling it up as soon as I figured out if it had Compound Eyes (it did!)
The Yanma, which I trained to Lv 19 and named Bait, sits in the first slot, acting as both my level regulator and my item probability booster. I did the training in the short grass spot on RTE 210 just before the fog because it has a high occurrence of pokemon that can be beaten with the Prinplup I was trying to evolve into Empoleon but also has a 5% Chansey occurrence rate. You know, just in case. (No dice.)
If we do the math, the Lucky Egg should appear sometime in the next 5-10 Chansey spawns. Which are fairly dreadful odds, but not impossible odds.
The patch of grass I've been searching in is the really big one on 209 right by the gate to Hearthome City. It's big enough to use the PokeRadar if you want (I briefly had aspirations of getting a chain of them lmao) but I've just been running from anything that isn't Chansey.
The plan, at this point, is to switch to (Lv 50 because I caught it outside the Resort Area) Illumise, steal the egg, then switch to a lower level pokemon to try and catch the Chansey to fill the Pokedex page.
At this point, with the best method I could cobble together, I started a timer and started a count of repels used.
The Encounters:
Chansey 1: no item, KO, 25 min after start, 13 repels total
Chansey 2: Oval Stone, OHKO, 9 min after C1, 17 repels total
Chansey 3: Oval Stone, OHKO, 69 min after C2, 40 repels + 3 super repels** total
Chansey 4: Oval Stone, OHKO, 20 min after C3, 40 repels + 7 super repels total
Chansey 5: Oval Stone, caught!, 8 min after C4, 40 repels + 9 super repels total
Chansey 6: Oval Stone, OHKO*, 17 min after C5, 40 repels + 12 super repels total
Chansey 7: Lucky Egg!!, OHKO, 23 min after C6, 40 repels + 17 super repels total
* It occurred to me based on the rate of EXP acquisition that I'd need a new Bait for every 5-6 Chansey knocked out, and Bait was swapped with Bait III after C6. Bait II hatched without compound eyes, but Bait III-VI were okay. Bait can make a return appearance if I ever decide to go on the Weezing Smoke Ball hunt. While Compound Eyes works regardless of the consciousness of the first slot pokemon, the Repels work based on the first conscious pokemon in your party, meaning I had to just let Bait accumulate EXP if I wanted it to work as designed.
**super repels are the most cost effective, I switched to those after running out of the repels I already had in my bag
Notes:
You could give Bait a smoke ball to ensure escape if necessary. Mine wasn't in my bag, PC, or in it's drop location, so I did without. I had no issues with fleeing, so it didn't matter, but I could have gone on another 5% item hunt and snagged one from a Koffing or Weezing up on Stark Mountain. For completeness sake, Weezing spawns at RTE 227 and Stark Mountain 10%, as well as inside the cave 15%, making it's Smoke Ball appearance rate 0.5-0.75% normally or 2-3% with Compound Eyes. Koffing only spawns 5% in the cave, making it's Smoke Ball appearance rate the same as Chansey's Lucky Egg rate. Wild goose chase if there ever was one.
Use bike to reduce time between encounters
Your covet/thief pokemon cannot already be holding an item, or it won't work
The PokeRadar does not adhere to the level limit set by the repels
Conclusions:
This thankfully didn't take as long as I expected it to, based on tales from late 2000s forum boards. There was just over 2 hours of active Chansey hunting and maybe an hour of prep time, including the interruption in the middle to prepare Bait III-VI.
Cost-wise, for in game money, I used 40 repels, 17 super repels, 3 ultra balls catch the Chansey, 2 ultra balls to catch the Illumise, 1 safari game for Yanma/failed Kecleon, and around 4 levels of daycare costs, which if I'm doing my math right is 27,000 P. Not terrible, especially considering I now have everything I need to go on more rare item hunts.

Early November Feelings
Hello again (friend of a friend, I knew you well [rock music])
I'd like to express my thoughts on a bunch of things that's happened me.
First, I have been mindlessly scrolling too much on my phone. I used to be proud of how little I used my phone, but that was just because I was hooked up on my pc, or studying, or too tired to do either.
Now that I have to dedicate more time on studying, I found myself using the pc much less. Phone usage is up so tho so I need to do something. I'm probably going to delete Instagram and Reddit, which are the most used. They're useless and serve no purpose. Tumblr, on the other hand, is just amusing pictures, art, jokes. It's less mind numbing.
Second, I want to take up reading again. I discovered my inner dialogue is getting quiet. That's because I only train it when I study, I interact with very few people over the week and 99% of the time it's my family.
Third, I'd like to squeeze in something like a 30min workout every now and then. I'm a weak, scrawny guy in his 20s. (Mind blowing btw, I didn't know I'd make it til 19).
Fourth. I need human contact. I need someone to talk to when I go to uni, someone in my course. I don't need need this, but it's ridiculous to waste my time away, in the evening, between music I have listened to thousand of time already and stupid tv series. I'd like to make new connections. I'd like to enjoy my age. Right now I can't which is way I'm compiling this sort of epiphany on my blog I have hidden from everyone. Of course, everyone can read this but they can't trace it back to my irl persona, which is what counts.
That's it for the announcements, I better go prepare dinner. Maybe I'll drop another post filled with nostalgia, homesickness, lovesickness and who knows what more.
Later skater

7 DAYS TO DIE VALMOD STEAM MOD
7 DAYS TO DIE VALMOD STEAM UPDATE
As such, rejoice, Valmod Overhaul is currently A16.1 compatible.
7 DAYS TO DIE VALMOD STEAM UPDATE
Trust me, I hate being away from my PC as much as you all hate waiting for Valmod updates, Im sure.Įither way as A16.1 did not actually change much from the experimental build I managed to get some time to update it. Hopefully come next month things will settle down and I will be able to resume. I won't go into details venting about all my life drama and headache as of late, suffice to say that its been a bit out of my control and for the time being I wont be able to keep up with posts and the like. Real-life circumstances have made it rather tedious and impractical to use my computer. 7 DAYS TO DIE VALMOD STEAM MOD
If you need the whole one please let me know.Īnother question thats been racking my mind is do I need to use another launcher? I cant remember if when downloading this mod there was a seperate 7 days to die launcher that ran the mod. Here is the Output.Log part with the errors. Im getting some small errors, on a data cap so dont want to waste data if easily fixable but ive tried looking everywhere. I stopped playing for a few months and today opted into the 15.2 beta then the 15.1 beta to play my save game instead of updating to A16. I have overhaul and the Horde add on for more difficulty. I have an old Valmod mod pack, from January, so I believe 15.1 if I am not mistaken. Hey, stupid question and I apologize for asking here, if theres a better place to ask just point me in the direction!

Youngsters Burberry Belt
It started, of course, with Thomas Burberry's invention of gabardine, however it did not stop there. The model is continually attempting new issues and has adapted very quickly to the trendy digital world. According to the South China Morning Post, Burberry was the first trend brand to live-stream trend exhibits, which it did in 2009. The emblem was summary and small, only a black strong shadow, minus any letters and particulars. The Burberry emblem was initially designed in 1901 and had a pink emblem above a wordmark. I have a quite high end, Lagenlook styled, coat that is missing its belt. Day 3 of the People With Disabilities Month Featured Author Interviews! Next up, we’ve got...Jess!
Jess, author of Fields of Asphodel and co-author of Diaspora
People With Disabilities Month Featured Author
Fields of Asphodel is a game in which the player takes on the role of the Greek pantheon’s deity of spring, on the eve of their (decidedly political) marriage to Hades, Lord of the Dead. After the constantly-simmering feud between Zeus and Demeter results in the rather unfortunate circumstance of a marriage neither party really consents to, the PC is whisked away to the Underworld, an unfamiliar realm that is all but the antithesis of fair Olympus.
There, they have the chance to make what they will of the lot they have drawn. The residents of the Underworld are an unusual, and unusually-accepting bunch, and there are friends or possible romantic connections to be made as well as a rather odd supporting cast to get to know, from the ever-bickering Moirae sisters to Hades’s young adopted daughter Makaria to Kerberos, the gigantic, fire-breathing, three-headed dog.
But for all its charms—if indeed the PC should find any—the Underworld is not without its problems, and when a mysterious wasting disease afflicts Lethe, the river goddess of oblivion, the entire balance of life and death may be in jeopardy. It will take the PC, as well as the rest of the cast, to not only cure the affliction, but solve the mystery of what’s causing it, and deal with the ever-spiraling fallout of the dead beginning to remember.
Of course, I shouldn’t be misleading—the game is mostly about the relationships between its characters, and found family.

(INTERVIEW TRANSCRIPT UNDER THE CUT!)
Q1. So, tell us a little bit about the projects you're working on!
Well, currently I’m working on two IFs, Fields of Asphodel and (with my awesome friend August) Diaspora. Asphodel is a retelling of the Hades and Persephone myth, but a lot more queer and less… you know. Weird and problematic in myth-typical ways. So it boils down to ‘child of Demeter politically manipulated into marriage with Awkward Single Dad by third party,’ but the story can proceed several different ways from that premise. Fundamentally, I think it’s about becoming yourself, and the comfort of acceptance, and belonging.
Diaspora is by far the longer project in the making. I think we’ve been working on it since… maybe 2014? 2015? I’m not sure. It’s been slow, but the thing’s nearly a million words and almost done, so that’s exciting. It’s a mid/low fantasy about a raiding culture expelled from their home territory by a war. The player character is the child of Chief Roise of Clan Maghnus, and what’s left of your clan comes south in search of a new place to live. You take over a pretty nice island, only to find that the big empire who already owns it isn’t too happy with you. It’s about culture clash, and what home means, and trying to find the best way forward when there are no perfect people, or options.
Q2. What has been your favorite thing about interactive fiction as a medium? What are some of the biggest challenges?
I  think my favorite thing about IF is the nuance that it allows. It’s a bare bones medium—there’s words, and at maximum some basic visual assets otherwise, but just as often none of that. It means the focus is the story, and it also means you can really dig into that. Flavor it with subtle variations, and in general just kind of… give it the kind of descriptive detail that something like a video game can’t usually have, with the variation that a novel can’t. It’s an interesting middle to be sitting in.
Challenge-wise, it really gets draining sometimes, doing all of that. It’s rewarding in its way, but sometimes I have to remind myself that ‘even if 95% of people never see this, it’s important to have here for the 5% that do.’ It can get tough, writing sideways instead of forward, especially if you really want to go forward!
Q3. What is something you're excited to explore within your work?
I take myself to have a lot of pretentious interest in things like imagination and the power of narrative, haha. So a lot of my personal interest comes from playing around with stories, either ones made up by me, or new takes on ones made up by other people. But I guess less broadly, I like being able to make and share characters that are a little different than most of what happens in the mainstream. And the themes I pick are all ones that interest me personally: what home is, what belonging is, change and compromise and how much of those things is too much and how much isn’t enough—all that sort of thing.
Also, as far as Asphodel goes, I’ve heard it described as a ‘comfort IF’ and honestly, that appeals to me. I wrote its characters as people I would want to be surrounded by—and the story isn’t meant to stress anyone out. It can and will get high-stakes, but exploring how to do that without making something that’s actually anxiety-inducing to play has been an interesting experiment.
Q4. Has your disability influenced your work? Whether it's worldbuilding, the design, the process, and positive or negative--what is your advice in working with your disability and being creative?
Sure they have. My Autism just kind of influences how I see and exist in the world, and that apparently comes through so much in my writing that not only did at least a couple readers know I was Autistic before I did, but at least one was prompted to seek (and received) a diagnosis of their own by relating strongly to some of the neurodivergent options and characters in Asphodel.
My physical disability is something I’m still coming to terms with, because it isn’t something well-known or talked about and it’s generally invisible to other people. Because of this, it’s sometimes hard to recognize myself as disabled, and especially hard to ask for help. But it comes through in small ways in my writing as well, I think, and I’m interested in exploring it more in the future.
As for working with a disability and being creative… I think that’s going to be an answer that varies with every disabled person! For me, routine and habit are extremely important. If I fall out of a daily progress habit I can come to an abrupt halt, and it’s much, much harder to get started again. I also can’t do too many things at a time, but I do need to do more than one. It helps keep the wheels greased, so to speak. It doesn’t all have to be IF, of course—sometimes switching mediums can be helpful too. Some people can’t write every day, though, and that’s just fine. What works for me won’t work for everyone; not even every Autistic person.
I encourage people who are struggling with this to experiment, but give the experiments time to show their results. If you’re like me, you may not have realized you’re disabled/ND/whatever for much of your life, and maybe even learned to do things the way other people have always told you to do them or how they ‘should be’ done. But even if that’s true, you might find it’s immensely better if you use your particular brain to your advantage instead of trying to cram it into someone else’s mold. I admire people who can sit down and crank out 10,000 words in a day and then take a week off before the next bunch (or not!), but I sure can’t. I have to do a much smaller amount, consistently. Neither way is right or wrong, they just work for different people.
Q5. what's an accessibility issue you see glazed over a lot in IF? and what accessibility features would you like to see implemented more in IF?
I think for me at least a lot of games assume that I (or, well, the reader) am/is much better at interpreting tone than I actually am. I’m not the absolute worst at it by any means, but I definitely struggle sometimes, and I can’t count the number of times I’ve unintentionally picked an option that’s totally at-odds in the following text with how I imagined it to be. I’ve personally chosen to fix this in Asphodel with an optional system of symbols that helps indicate what tone the choice has. It’s not a perfect system, but I think it’s better than nothing. I’m sure some people can write clearly enough that this is obvious from text alone always, but I’m not one of them!
Maybe less prominent but still something I’ve noticed is that a lot of player characters are assumed to be totally comfortable in situations that would make my skin crawl, haha. Loud gatherings, for just one example. I can see why sometimes this is just the character I’m playing, so it doesn’t bother me much (especially because I don’t self-insert), but I do always kind of have a little laugh about it. One pretty easy thing to do would be to give options just for discomfort with more things like that, I suspect. The writer could make it necessary to do anyway, make the character just kind of mask it, if it’s required to move the plot forward, but little things like that can make a big difference. I guess that’s not really an ‘accessibility feature’ in the usual sense, but it’s something I think about a lot from the perspective I have as a disabled person, so there it is.
Q6. What is something you'd love to see in interactive fiction?
I think a lot of people are afraid to write disabled characters. That’s understandable in a way, because a lot of them have been poorly-done, in the history of fiction, but I’d like to see more people try. It takes research, and intentionality, but it can be done. I suspect, though cannot confirm, that one of the reasons behind this in IF is that people aren’t really sure what role such a character could play, and I further suspect that this is because a lot of people, through no fault of their own, really have no idea what life with disability is like.
So to those people I say: we’re as widely-varied in what we can and can’t do as everyone else. Please consider looking at what roles you want to fill in your story and choosing some to give to disabled characters. Research will go a long way, but do a little more than you think you need, just in case. And make sure that you’re listening most carefully to the voices of disabled people themselves, rather than their parents, doctors, and the like.
Q7. Any advice to give to aspiring devs?
I think this whole interview has been packed with unsolicited advice, but I guess as a final note I’d just say… if you’re interested in trying a project, try it! I know there’s a lot of hurdles that can get in the way of that—worries that you aren’t good enough, or that no one will read it, or that you’ll never finish it, or what-have-you. I’ve experienced, and from time to time do still experience, all of those things.
But I’ve figured out the secret: there’s no such thing as talent. Just persistence. You are good enough, and you’ll get better as you practice. The only person you need to write for is you; people will show up (if you want to share) because if something is you enough, it’s going to resonate with someone. It just is. And if you don’t finish… well, is that so bad? You’ll have learned something that doesn’t work for you, and probably a lot of other things besides. If you think it’s worth doing, and have a story you want to try and the ability to at least make the attempt, then you’re golden. If you need permission, I hereby give it to you—and for all my fellow tone-challenged people, I say that all with complete sincerity.

meant to meet
dream x streamer!reader
genre: fluff, crackish, angst if you squint
word count: 1.2k
warning(s): none(?) (let me know if there are)
synopsis: on your own love or host you see an acquaintance you didn’t really expect to be there.
Tumblr media
today was your first love or host and you were quite nervous. you didn’t know who was going to be on it and that made you even more nervous. as you were getting ready you couldn’t help but overthink everything, what if the person you end up choosing chose to host you? what if all of them host you? what if your viewers don’t like who you picked? will this just be a waste of time? what if i eliminate someone who really wants to get to know me?
so much was filling your mind that you didn’t even notice you were almost late. after starting up your pc you clicked the links austin sent you and joined the video call. nerves filling you as you joined, only to see a screen full of familiar faces. of course there had been about 3 contestants you didn’t know but the other 8 were at least acquaintances.
on the right side of your screen and see a ‘D’ poking out. your cursor hovered over it to see their full name and it was dream. you were shocked to say the least. you’ve been a member of the dream smp for about 2 months but you and dream never really had any interactions other than planning for lore and acting out the lore on stream. that’s all it ever was really, barely any out of stream interaction and a whole lot of on stream acting.
you finally got started and after your introduction, the girls and guys introduced themselves. you heard from wilbur soot, karl jacobs, sykkuno, nihachu, disguised toast, peter parktv, tina kitten, quackity, valkyrae, and pokimane. you had yet to hear from dream but you were very intrigued to.
“hi (y/n), you already know me. i’m dream, i’m a faceless minecraft streamer and youtuber. i wanted to be on your love or host because whenever we interact, even though they’ve been very little, i always get a feeling that i should try to get to know you more because you’re such a nice and caring person but i didn’t really know how to do that so i’m here.” he chuckled. “in front of 80,000 people?” you asked him. “i work well in high-pressure situations.” he joked. you laughed and austin was on his way to asking them questions.
as time went by you had to eliminate people which made you feel a bit bad but when you found out some of them hosted you, it didn’t feel so bad. wilbur hosted you, which you kind of expected because he’s like an older brother to you. sykkuno chose host but you were okay with that because you barely knew him and his reason was exactly that; you didn’t know each other well enough but he wanted to get to know you. niki chose love which warmed your heart and you would definitely message her later apologizing. toast chose host, again, didn’t surprise you. toast and you were always mean to each other in a joking way but you could never see him liking you. peter chose love and it definitely surprised you because you didn’t know each other but when he told you that he had been a fan of your streams, your heart warmed and you apologized immediately. tina chose host and you weren’t surprised, again, tina is like your best friend and that’s all it is. quackity chose love and fake cried when you eliminated him; it made you laugh though and he left the call like he was rage quitting. rae chose love and you told her that if it didn’t work with whoever won you’d hit her up. pokimane chose host, which was understandable because you didn’t know her at all other than some twitter interactions.
the last two were karl and dream and you were very nervous. both of these guys you’d be interacting with a lot due to all of you being on the smp and if they both hosted you, you didn’t know what you would do with all the awkwardness.
now it was time for you and dream to have a one on one and you were quite nervous. “hi dream,” you let out. “hello (y/n). i don’t know if i told you this already but you look really pretty. like all the time not just now, i just.. never had the right moment to tell you.” he said. you started blushing and dream was teasing you.
“*gasp* did i just make you blush? awe you look so cute.” he commented. you started hiding your face in your hands and dragged out a, “stop.” he laughed at your reaction and for the rest of the time you guys just talked about anything, getting to know him more. near the end of your time, dream said, ”no matter what i chose, i think we were meant to meet and be friends.” by the time you were done talking to dream you had already made your decision, with the last thing he said making you overthink.
karl was a great guy but you didn’t really know if you could see yourself with him. so when it was his time for the one on one you were completely distracted by the thought of dream and he noticed. “you know, i hope dream treats you well. and if he doesn’t you can always call me. you know that (y/n).” you started frowning and started apologizing immediately. “i’m sorry karl, i just don’t really see us together. but if things don’t work out with me and dream then hopefully you can prove me wrong.” you said. “i’m only a phone call away.” he said.
you time ended and you had already told austin who you chose. it was down to reveal what karl chose and you were pretty sure you knew already. “he chose love!” austin screamed out. you frowned and karl said again, “if dream chooses host, you know my number.” and disconnected.
it was now leading up to reveal whether dream chose love or host and you were hoping to god he chose love. but when austin yelled out, “he chose host! oh my god he chose host!” your heart dropped as well as your jaw.
“wait, wait, wait, let me explain myself. i did choose host, but that was before i got to know you! you’re actually a really cool person and i would love to get to know you more! i just thought it would be funny if i chose host and i didn’t think that i would even come close to winning. like if i did get eliminated earlier on and i chose love i didn’t want that awkwardness if i chose love and you eliminated me because you’re on my smp and everything.” he explained. “well now there’s awkwardness because you won and hosted me.” you said, not truly showing how upset you were. you sighed and leaned back in your chair as austin talked to dream. you weren’t really listening because you were deep in thought.
needless to say, you ended up texting rae and karl that night.
edit: there will be no part 2
