~*Accidental Mate: chapter 6*~
Tumblr media
You had left your home earlier than needed this morning, wanting to enjoy the warm summer sun on your way to work. Your report was secure in an envelope in your hand, swaying lightly at your side as you walked. The breeze was refreshing, teasing through your hair you had to keep down in order to hide the teethmarks bruising your neck. You felt surprisingly refreshed considering the nights sleep you had. It was plagued with vivid dreams, sensual lovemaking that had lingered with you this morning when you had woken. You felt light, carefree as you headed to your Captains office, looking forward to getting back into your routine. Today was going to be a good day, you could feel it.
A flash of orange caught your attention in the distance, standing out drastically in the sea of black uniforms and dark hair. You'd notice that floppy mess of bright orange hair anywhere. Ichigo was weaving in between the forming crowd of people on their way to work, trade mark frown on his young face. "Ichigo" you greeted him with a friendly wave as he neared you, stopping him short
His face relaxed upon seeing you, offering a half smile "YN, hey. How you doing?" He had stopped to chat with you, nodding to the side of the path where you wouldn't be in the way of the mornings traffic "heard you were the one Kyoraku lumbered Grimmjow with "
You chuckle at the pained look on his face, at least someone knew the right amount of sympathy you deserved, unlike Renji. "Better now that I'm home" you grin at him before sighing, you had a feeling many people would have questions over the trip you would rather forget "It wasn't that bad, you seeing Renji today?"  Anything to change the subject
"yeah, I'll catch up with him and Byakuya later, promised Rukia I'd help train her new squad members" Ichigo explained while rubbing at his nose, seemed awfully itchy all of a sudden. You held back a laugh at the familiar way Ichigo addressed your Captain, knowing full well it aggravated him to be addressed so informally . He leaned in closer to you, giving you a strange look.
Leaning back slightly you raised a confused eyebrow "what are you doing?" He wasn't usually one to invade personal space like this, at least you've never witnessed it. You weren't actually opposed to physical contact and closeness, it was, however, unexpected from the young man.
"sorry, it's just.."  he leaned in a little closer despite your obvious discomfort, sniffing at you curiously as his brows furrowed in confusion"you smell strange"
"I smell? Like what?" You ask flabbergasted, raising your arm to sniff at your uniform. It smelt fine to you, you had showered this morning and the subtle smell of vanilla still lingered on your skin "is it bad?"
"no" he shook his head, leaning in even closer trying to associate the smell with the memory refusing to come to the forefront of his mind "it kinda smells like.." the rest of Ichigo's sentence was abruptly cut off by a fist swinging in from nowhere, clocking Ichigo in the chin and sending him tumbling to the ground. You gasped, startled by the unexpected turn of events.
Grimmjow was suddenly standing in front of you, chest heaving with rapid breaths as he glared down at Ichigo rubbing at his darkening chin "what the fuck is wrong with you!" Ichigo snapped at the Espada from the floor, returning an icy glare. Grimmjow usually at least gave him the courtesy of a threat before he attempted to fight him.
Grimmjow had seen red when he saw Ichigo leaning in towards you. Invading your space, getting to close to what was his. He would be damned if he would just roll over and let that bastard try to steal away what was his. He thinks he could be a better mate? Give you what you needed. That weak ass bitch couldn't provide for you the way Grimmjow could, couldn't protect you as well, could please you as well. His alpha pride was screaming at him to annihilate the threat, take on the challenge Ichigo unknowingly laid down
His hands curled into fists, pupils thinning into slits as he regarded the other male angrily getting to his feet. Big mistake. "What the hell is your problem?!" Ichigo seethed through clenched teeth, shoving Grimmjow roughly in the chest, before ducking another lightening fast fist aiming for his nose. Grimmjow snarled back, animalistic and dangerous, sending all your hairs on edge
You had seen enough, finally getting over the shock you rushed in between them, laying a hand on each of their chests to try and diffuse the situation "stop!" You told them both sternly, eyeing first Ichigo then Grimmjow. Both their chests were heaving with unexplained anger. Well, Ichigo's anger was explainable, considering he had just been sucker punched for no apparent reason. "What's going on?"
"Ask him! Crazy bastard" Ichigo exclaimed angrily, though at least taking a step back. Grimmjow growled in response, trying to advance closer. He didn't even look at you as you pathetically tried to keep him in place, staring daggers over your head at his intended target. A small crowd had gathered around, curiously watching the spectacle unfold in the middle of the street
"You think your better than me?!" Grimmjow snapped to the orange haired man, pushing you away effortlessly. Not thinking clearly, he hadn't thought to adjust his strength as he pushed you. He knocked you away harder than he intended, not even glancing your way as you tripped over your own feet at the sudden force and landing on your ass with a huff. That was the second time that asshole shoved you over, and you were just about finished with it . "Think you can take what's mine?!"
"Don't shove her!" Ichigo ignored Grimmjow's shouting, reaching down to offer you a hand up with muttered concern . You were about to gratefully accept the hand when Grimmjow lunged at him, tackling them both to the ground in a frenzy of trading blows and spited insults. You jumped to your feet yourself, at a loss of what to do. You needed to stop the fight before it got out of hand and weapons were involved, but you weren't stupid enough to risk getting close when they were wresting around on the floor like that
"stay away from her" you heard Grimmjow threaten before throwing a punch to Ichigo's face, getting blocked by said man's crossing arms "the hell are you on about? You're the one who hit her asshole!" They seriously couldn't be scrapping because you got knocked over. There was a deeper meaning behind this scuffle, which you couldn't care less about at this point, you just wanted them to stop fighting.
"cut it out!" You tried calling to them, your plea washing over both their heads as they grappled in the dirt. Ichigo got his foot between them, planting it on Grimmjows stomach and kicking him off as hard as he could. Grimmjow landed in a crouch, feet and hands skidding across the floor with the level of power he was kicked with. With both men springing to their feet you took the opportunity to dart in between them. You trusted Ichigo enough to not accidentally attack you when your back was turned to him, so chose to fully face a pissed off Grimmjow, murderous intent flashing in his eyes.
"Grimmjow, stop" your plea came out strained with the exuberance you needed to attempt to hold him back, shoulder shoved into his midsection, arms wrapped around him. He felt hot to the touch, whole body vibrating with adrenaline as he glared at his rival, standing a few feat away watching intently, ready to react if he were to turn on you. That only enraged him further. Like he was some rabid beast who couldn't control himself around his own mate. His mate who was annoyingly trying to hold him back from defending his claim. Not mate, Grimmjow mentally corrected himself.
"woman" Grimmjow lowly warned you, attempting to get around you without shoving you again. You stubbornly followed his movements, not letting up the pressure you had on his middle. Grimmjows eyes flicked down to yours. You looked mad, confused. A little scared. That bastard had scared you, and he was going to pay "move"
"no"  you stubbornly refused, tilting your chin up to meet his eye. Trying to get him to see you were serious, if he was going to try and get at Ichigo, he was going to have to go through you first. You couldn't tell in that moment if you were being brave or stupid "not until you calm down"
"My my, isn't it wonderful to see you children all playing nicely together" A new voice interrupted the moronic display, musical lilt indicating thick amusement in the deep voice. Relief flooded you at the new appearance, someone to help talk sense into this idiot. Urahara had walked over to investigate the commotion, amused grey eyes peering over the fan he had in his hand, loftily wafting it over his face. His usual hat was tilted back enough to allow his eyes to be visible as he watched the chaotic scene, sharp vision taking note of all the visible damage between the two parties
"You!" Grimmjow growled, turning away from you so suddenly your arms lost their grip, to stomp over to the eccentric exile. Urahara pointed at himself in a over exaggerated "who, me?" kind of way, lowering his fan to reveal the ever present smirk on his face "come with me" Grimmjow growled a moment before he grabbed Urahara by the face, muffling an unmanly squeak before dragging him away with the help of his sonido technique. The quick departure knocked up an angry cloud of dust where you had last seen Urahara standing
You stared amazed in the space where they had disappeared, waiting for your brain to catch up and make sense of what had just happened. The crowd of nosy onlookers started to disperse, gossiping between themselves at the spectacle they had just witnessed. Your mouth opened and closed a few time as you struggled to form a coherent sentence. Well, Grimmjow was Urahara's problem now. Or depending on how you looked at it, Urahara was Grimmjow's problem.
A heavy hand on your shoulder embarrassingly made you jump in fright, adrenaline wearing off made you a little wary. Ichigo had that frown back on his face as he looked down at you. "Are you okay? He didn't hurt you?" He asked softly. Like Renji, he didn't agree with violence of any kind against woman and seeing you get shoved to the ground irked him. Not to mention he knew how important you were to Renji, he would look out for you the same way he would want Renji to look out for his own sisters, how Renji had already looked after his sisters
"Im fine"  you promised. You really were, you didn't hit the ground hard, and your ass cushioned your fall. Ichigo let his hand slip from your shoulder as you turned to face him "are YOU okay?  That's one hell of a bruise forming on your chin" you nodded the the rapidly blackening mark across his jaw. Ichigo rubbed it gently with a shrug
"lucky shot"
"Do you know what got him so mad?" You couldn't for the life of you what could've sent Grimmjow into such a fit of rage. Neither of you had even noticed him until he started swinging. There was nothing he could've overheard you two say that would warrant a reaction like that. Ichigo shrugged, seemingly Unphased by the altercation now that it was over
"It's Grimmjow, does he need a reason?" Fair point well made. In your very limited experience of Grimmjow, no, he didn't need an excuse to become unhinged. Just another part of his radiant personality
"You know, I would of happily followed you back here if you had asked. You didn't need to drag me across the Seireitei by my face" Urahara happily told Grimmjow when they came to a stop outside of his own small lab on the outskirts of the twelfth. Kyoraku had gifted him the space after his help during the Quincy war, along with the option to return to soul society at his pleasure. While he had decided to split his time between here and the world of the living, the gesture was appreciated.
Grimmjow ignored the overly happy quip, all but ripping the door from its hinges and walking into the lab. Grimmjow restlessly paced the little free floor space, waiting for that idiot to follow him in. Urahara leaned against one of the desks, watching Grimmjow pace like a caged animal.
"what can I do for you Mr. Jaegerjaquez?"Urahara questioned in a light tone. While he found it better to be direct with Grimmjow, he couldn't always pass up the opportunity to tease him. Perhaps this wasn't the time for that though.
"there's something wrong with me, you need to fix it" Grimmjow spat the words, unrelenting in his pacing, refusing to look him in the eye. He hated asking for help, loathed feeling weak. Urahara had proved himself to be a genius, even if he was a childish asshole. If anyone knew how to fix him, it was this guy.
"Yes, I'm leaning towards anger management issues with psychotic tendencies myself, but without the proper examinations I wouldn't like to diagnose.." Okay, there was always time to tease the explosive Espada. Urahara stopped his comical, yet accurate assessment of Grimmjow's mental state when said lunatic whipped around to bare his teeth. Urahara held up in hands in mock surrender, trying hard to remove any evidence of amusement from his face "What are your symptoms?"
"I think someone used one of those shinigami spells on me" Uraharas eyebrows shot up under his messy hair, he hadn't expected that. He waved his hand in a 'elaborate' motion, interested in the unusual claim  "I keep getting feelings , thoughts that ain't my own. It's like I can't control my own damn thoughts or actions "
That didn't sound like any "shinigami spell" Urahara had ever heard of. Being someone who had mastered nearly all of them, and created a few of his own, he very much doubted there was one like that, that would escape his notice. Grimmjow was being vague for some reason, very uncharacteristic for the blunt man. "I'm going to need you to tell me everything Grimmjow, if you'd like for me to help you. I cannot fix what I do not know"
Grimmjow growled frustrated. Of course the nosy bastard would want to know every little detail. Gritting his teeth, Grimmjow saw very little choice in the matter "I fucked someone. Now I can't get the bitch out of my head. She's making me feel things I don't fucking feel. My instincts are overpowering my head, I feel like I'm going out of my damn mind." Grimmjow dragged his hands down his face, mentally exhausted battling with his instincts and intrusive thoughts. Already they were creeping in, demanding he go back and finish off that punk Ichigo, take that woman back to her den and fuck her to cement his claim.
Urahara studied Grimmjow for a moment. The dark circles under his eyes, his restless moving around. He did look like he was fighting some internal battle, and that he wasn't necessarily coming out victorious. The idea that Grimmjow had gotten feelings for this mystery woman flashed through his mind briefly, before comparing the notion to what Grimmjow had said.
While Grimmjow may not have experienced caring for someone before, let alone love, it really wouldn't explain his instincts going haywire. Nor feeling like he wasn't in control of his own thoughts or feelings. Love could make one do crazy things, it didn't actually turn them crazy. He was concerned for Grimmjows sanity as it was.. Urahara concluded it had to be a hollow thing, not human. He had studied hollows for decades, everything from their special abilities, their eating habits, to sleeping habits to..
"Grimmjow, when you slept with this woman, was it by chance your mating season?" Urahara had a suspicion he knew what had happened, though if it had happened without Grimmjows knowledge or this woman's consent... oh boy
"Rutting season" Grimmjow automatically corrected, nodding the affirmative yet waving a dismissive arm. The fuck had that got to do with anything? He had halted his pacing to watch the hat wearing idiot come up with a solution to his problem
" I see, and did you, per chance, happen to claim her?" Urahara asked as evenly as he could, pressing his fingertip together over his chest
"I fucked her?" Why did this idiot always have to speak in riddles. Fucking is fucking. What more was he getting at
"You misunderstand. Did you claim her? Mark her? Bite her hard enough to draw blood?"  It was scary how accurate he described what had happened that night. Grimmjow remembered the taste of your blood on his tongue as he sunk his teeth into your neck. How you moaned like a bitch, writhing beneath him as he marked you as his own,ah shit. Grimmjow reluctantly nodded, seeing where this fool was heading
"Congratulations ! It appears you have successfully mated!"Urahara proclaimed animatedly, clapping his hands together as though it was a joyous revelation. Impossible. You were a shinigami, not a hollow. He couldn't of ACTUALLY mated with you , despite his inner alpha taking over his instincts and treating you as such.
"bullshit" Grimmjow snapped, kicking over a small table, sending paper flying all over the floor. A just reaction to the nonsense he was being presented with, He needed a solution, not some crazy story this crackpot had cooked up "She ain't a hollow"
"No, I agree, it is quite unusual that you had mated with someone who could not reciprocate" Urahara absentmindedly rubbed over his scruff on his chin, thinking over all he knew about hollows and their matings. No studies were ever conducted between Hollows and humans, however. This was completely unprecedented. "But it seems to be the likely cause of your distress. You've formed a bond, it's understandable how it could be effecting your instincts, it's a big change"
Grimmjow looked like he was about to throw up. His eyes were wide with shock, staring at the floor hardly believing the words he heard. He couldn't be bonded to you. You drove him fucking insane. He didn't want a mate, didn't want to be bonded. You were a weak shinigami bitch, you couldn't even mate! How could he have mated with someone who couldn't mate!
"How can I break it?" Grimmjow asked almost desperately. There had to be something he could do to undo what happened. He'd be willing to try just about anything. He couldn't stay like this, couldn't be bonded to you. To someone who wasn't even bonded to him
"Im afraid you can't, hollows mate for life as far as our research has revealed " Urahara watched silently as Grimmjow struggled to wrap his mind around the surreal reality Kisuke just delivered. It was a lot to take in, granted. Grimmjow leaned heavily on the wall, sliding down the cool surface to sit on the floor, legs suddenly feeling weak. He propped up one leg, using his knee to support his elbow as he raked his fingers through his hair, internally imploding
"So..." Urahara's teasing voice made a reappearance, curiosity getting the better of him. He hated half stories and questions left unanswered, he honestly waited as long as he could before asking, admittedly, it wasn't that long. "who's the lucky lady?"
Grimmjow sent Urahara a murderous look at the return of his teasing tone. Funny, Urahara mused, he was well aware of the old proverb "curiosity killed the cat", turns out, the cat was about the kill the curiosity.
Grimmjow was just about ready to make him eat that hat. The fake innocent look he got in return wasn't fooling him. Bastard was enjoying this. Well fuck, Grimmjow thought, amazingly considering answering the question before it dawned on him. The fuck was your name again? He racked his brain trying to remember what the old drunk had called you when he introduced you. He couldn't remember, his annoyance dominated the memory, too pissed at being lumbered with her to pay attention to what they had said. His face must have show his confusion
"Grimmjow! Don't tell me you don't know her name!" If he didn't get that stupid look off his face, Grimmjow was going to punch him. It wasn't like he had planned any of this, why would he bother to remember your damn name!
"I didn't fucking listen when she told me! We didn't talk so I didn't fucking ask. I was never going to see her again! She's not in the 11th!"  Grimmjow angrily defended himself. He felt like he was going insane. This had to be some kind of joke. Mated to someone who wasn't mated to him, mated to someone he didn't even know the name of.
"well there's a start, do you know what division she's in?" Urahara tried to help narrow it down, his own selfish curiosity getting the better of him. Though he thought it best to find out her identity, he'd have to have a chat with her, explain everything that was going on. Grimmjow didn't seem stable enough to adequately explain the situation. He barely seemed to grasp it himself.
"No" Grimmjow hadn't asked and she didn't offer up the information. Not that he would've listened if she had. The whole thing was a damn mess.He couldn't concentrate enough to seriously try and remember her name, not with the tormenting thought of Ichigo getting close to you dominating his thoughts. "That damn Ichigo knows her"
"Ichigo knows a lot of people Grimmjow, that doesn't exactly narrow it down" Urahara explained gently. The Espada seemed one distasteful joke away from loosing his mind, perhaps it best to save his teasing where Ichigo is concerned. He'd already stumbled upon their fight this morning, before nine am no less. He didn't want to add fuel to that particular fire
"The old drunk knows her, made me go on a mission with her" That was useful information at least, seemed a visit to the head captain was in order. He should be made aware of the situation, considering what Urahara knew about hollows and how protective they could be with their mates, that's not even fracturing in the influx of testosterone and other chemicals when in mating season. Thankfully, hollows only had two mating seasons a year.
"The fuck am I supposed to do now?" Grimmjow grumbled from the floor, forming and releasing a fist in his lap, absentmindedly flexing his bruised knuckles. Ichigo's jaw was tough, he hated to admit. Not so tough that he couldn't break his jaw though.. that was an appealing thought.
"These feelings aren't going to go away. If anything I imagine they'll get stronger as they progress and solidify. Perhaps it best for you to try to get to know this woman, see if you can't get her to fall in love with you"  Grimmjow bristled at the word, head snapping up to stare at Urahara as though he had suddenly sprouted another head. Why the fuck would he want to do that?
"why the fuck would I do that?"
"Because, Grimmjow, your feelings aren't going to go away. I'm not confident in saying what will happen if they're not reciprocated. Your instincts are going to want to be around your mate. Wouldn't it be better if she also wanted to be around you?" Urahara Sincerely hoped Grimmjow would take his advice seriously, he had a few theories of what could happen if you didn't accept his advances. From his experience, nothing good ever came from denying your instincts.
"How the fuck do I do that?"  He asked carefully, not wanting to seem suddenly eager to win you over. He was still debating running away, finding himself a den in the Forrest and living off the land away from everyone. Would be a damn sight easier than trying to prove himself as a mate. Sure, he could easily kill any man that chose to challenge him, could hunt and kill to provide you with food. He had no problem satisfying you, if your previous encounters were anything to go by
"Romance, Grimmjow. Romance. Women appreciate a sensitive man who'll talk about their feelings. Now I'm not one to brag, but I've been quite successful with the ladies myself" there was that urge to vomit again. Grimmjow felt like his whole world had been pulled from under his feet, dumping him mercilessly into the dark unknown. He hardly heard the blonde man prattle on about romance, flowers and chocolates. Didn't absorb the recommendation for candle lit dinners and moonlit walks. The whole idea made his stomach churn, he felt suffocated in the room, walls closing in on him.
Grimmjow jumped to his feet, ignoring the call of his own name as he marched himself out the room, looking for the salvation of wide open spaces. Grimmjow ripped the door open, not stopping when he roughly bumped into someone trying to enter, unhearing the muffled call from Urahara and the annoyed remark from whom he had body checked. As soon as he was free of the walls he ran, sprinted as fast and as hard as he could to the tree line. Pushing himself further, easily weaving between the dense trees, running as far away from his problems as he could
"Captain Hirako, to what do I owe the pleasure?" Urahara finally addressed his new guest after they had lost sight of Grimmjow in the trees. A problem to deal with at a later date. Unprompted visits from his long time friend weren't uncommon, though it was quite early in the day for Shinji to be avoiding work.
"how many times do I gotta tell ya to stop with all that Captain nonsense" the usual greeting from over one hundred years ago fell as easily from his lips as breathing did. He breezed into the room as if he owned it, looking down at the array of papers strewn out on the floor, raising a questioning eyebrow to his companion
Urahara just shook his head. He'd deal with the mess later. He indicated to the empty chair in-front of him, smiling when his friend stubbornly chose to stand leaning against the same wall previously propping up Grimmjow
"you look stupid in that hat". Shinji couldn't help but add the tease. They struggled to have a conversation without at least one jab each, which delighted him to no end. At least he didn't have that same stupid look on his face as he used to have when Kisuke first became Captain. The years had given him a confidence he didn't possess back then.
"almost as stupid as that wonky hair cut your sporting" Urahara grinned from behind his fan, unable to hide the amusement from his eyes. He enjoyed their back and forth, Shinji's dry wit hadn't changed much over the years.
"so, what the hell is his problem?" Shinji Hirako asked of his friend, nodding to the door Grimmjow just ran through. Urahara sighed, Grimmjow wasn't going to make this easy on himself. But that was a problem for later. He instead, smiled at his new guest, pulling his fan from the folds of his top to fan his face.
"Grimmjow just received some very difficult news" was the simple explanation offered. Shinji nodded, he already had a pretty good idea what that news was, it was actually what he had came to speak to Kisuke about. Shinji went on to explain what he needed to explain, getting a similar solution to the one he had thought of himself. A very awkward meeting was needed, and soon.

Blease give me more of your writing your brain weirdness is extremely satisfying to my brain weirdness in a way that few others understand or can replicate
Immediately after the battle with Aizen, in what's left of Fake Karakura:
--
Something neon pink appeared at Shinji's elbow At Speed and he startled, yelping loudly and having to fight the reflex to kick what appeared to be a small girl.
"HeyifyouseemydadIwaswiththefallbacktimethewholetimeokay?" She spoke at a speed Shinji had only ever heard from a dangerously overcaffienated Mashiro before.
"I'm not lying for you, Kusajishi." sighed Kuchiki.
"YACHIRU!" someone bellowed loud enough to make the few unbroken windows ring, and Shinji turned to the sound of Ominous Jingling to see a giant of a man with a peculiar vertical hairstyle and a captain's Haori approaching, livid.
"Shit." She muttered, turning to grin sheepishly at her father as he stomped over, expression dark and a tiny, teal-haired toddler on his hip.
"Where were you supposed to be today?" The Giant growled down at Yachiru, and Kuchiki excused himself to sit down on a nearby piece of bench-height rubble.
"...You told me to stay with the fallback team in Seireitei." She sighed.
"So why are you here?" the giant growled.
"BECAUSE YOU'VE BEEN WEIRD ALL MONTH AND IF SOMETHING HAPPENED TO YOU IN LAS NOCHES I'D NEVER FORGIVE MYSELF!" She shouted, reflexive foot-stomp blasting out a wave of enraged reiatsu.
"So, uh, who're Pinky and Punky here?" Shinji asked, limping over to sit down to watch next to Kuchiki.
"Eleventh Division Captain Zaraki Kenpachi and his daughter, Yachiru Kusajishi." Kuchiki nodded. "They're loud, but honorable and reliable."
"I'VE BEEN WEIRD ALL MONTH BECAUSE- Shit, it's- Its complicated, okay?" Kenpachi groaned.
"And the other girl?" Shinji asked.
"I believe Kurosaki said her name was 'Nel' or similar." Kuchiki nodded. "Not entirely sure why Zaraki is the one carrying her around but it's nothing to worry about. He's great with kids."
"SINCE WHEN HAS 'COMPLICATED' BEEN A REASON TO HIDE STUFF FROM ME?" Yachiru demanded, bristling at him.
"Great with kids, huh?" Shinji glanced over at Kuchiki.
"-BECAUSE I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON EITHER UNTIL ABOUT TWO HOURS AGO! WHAT IF SOMETHING HAD HAPPENED TO YOU, HUH? IT'S *MY* JOB TO WORRY ABOUT WHAT HAPPENS TO YOU, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND DAMMIT!"
"Oh, nevermind, I see what you mean." Shinji nodded and there was the barest hint of a smirk on Kuchiki's face.
Yachiru sniffled, tearing up with rage. "WHAT? I'M NOT ALLOWED TO WORRY ABOUT YOU!?"
"YOU CAN WORRY ALL YOU WANT BUT YOU CAN'T RISK YOUR HIDE FOR MY SAKE, THAT'S NOT HOW IT FUCKING WORKS-!" he roared, jabbing his finger at Yachiru.
"Can I have a juice?" the teal-haired toddler asked from Zaraki's hip.
"-In a minute Yachiru, I need to-" Kenpachi started and stopped. He blinked a few times, then slowly turned to frown at Nel, then at Yachiru, then back at Nel, pointing between the two girls and expression shifting from rage to utter confusion.
"Did you see another abandoned baby and just pick it up because it was Yachiru-shaped and Neon Colored?" Kuchiki called, teasing.
Kenpachi looked up at him, bewildered "MAYBE??" and Yachiru rolled her eyes behind him.
"That’s the most 'Raised By Birds' thing you’ve done in a while." Kuchiki laughed, getting up to peer down at Nel with curiosity.
"Raised by WHAT?" Shinji asked, jogging up after him.
Kenpachi Stood up straight, shaking his shoulders like he was ruffling feathers. "One, I’m not putting her back, two, who the fuck are these assholes?" He asked, gesturing at Shinji and the other Visored who had started to gather in the rubble to catch their breath after the battle.
"Remember how half the captains had fallen in battle or otherwise vanished before you showed up?" Byakuya asked.
"No, because I wasn’t there." Huffed Kenpachi, rifling through his Kosode and producing a Juice Box for Nel. "-but I remember Ikkaku complaining about the employee turnover."
"-AND I WAS RIGHT!" Ikkaku bellowed from his stretcher behind them, too injured to stand but not about to stop fighting, as expected of someone wearing the 11th Division's lieutenant insignia.
"YOU'RE STILL IN DEEP SHIT FOR THAT BANKAI THING, CUEBALL." Zaraki holled back at his lieutenant, who only turned his head away, sulking.
"Apparently the assorted missing officers weren’t dead, they just caught an artificially induced case of hollowfication from Aizen, but managed to survive and stayed out here in the living world to recover and learn to control their abilities out of sight from him." Kuchiki explained. Beside them, meaningful eye contact was exchanged between father and daughter, and he gave her a juice box as well. "Tactical." Zaraki nodded approvingly. "Also, non-zero chance The Old Man would have killed y'all on sight."
"Er. Yeah." Shinji winced, looking over his shoulder to where a surprisingly non-apocalyptic-looking Captain-General was discussing something with Unohana.
"This man specifically is is Hirako Shinji, Aizen’s former boss." Kuchiki continued, introducing them properly. "Captain Hirako, Captain Zaraki."
"Hiya!" Shinji grinned, holding out a hand for Zaraki to shake, but instead, he too was handed a juice box.
Kenpachi eyed Shinji in a not precisely hostile but still unnerving manner, as he offered Kuchiki a juice box as well and when turned down, opened it for himself and drank, studying him.
"…This explains six or seven things." Zaraki finally spoke, nodding sagely.
Shinji glared up at the giant. "Excuse me?"
Kuchiki waved a hand between Shinji and Zaraki. "I promise, it’s technically a compliment."
"Yeah, if Ken-chan didn't like you, you wouldn't have a head right now." Yachiru giggled.
"Mostly explains the two sets of teaspoons in the 5th division break room." Zaraki nodded, holding his hands out to his sides. "You're, whatsit- tiger-tiger thing?"
"Huh?" Puzzled Shinji.
"Symmetry?" Tried Kuchiki. "I do recall Captain Hirako having immense talent with mirroring and reversing text and other things."
"That's the bitch!" Zaraki grinned. "Not a bad idea though, you always have enough spoons."
"Huh. I guess so?" Shinji pondered, eyeballing Zaraki in turn. "Kenpachi, so you're captain of the 11th? If I remember correctly, Kiganjo was the tenth Kenpachi- so how many Kenpachis did we run through while I was away?"
"Just him for the last century. Only the two serious challenges to his post." Kuchiki explained, looking almost... proud? There were strange political currents swirling here, leaving Shinji feeling adrift.
"For real?" Shinji asked with genuine admiration. Outside of statistical outliers like Unohana and The Old Man, it was rare for a captain to hold their post for more than two centuries, and the average in the 11th more like 60 years.
Kenpachi waved his hand noncommitally. "One and a half. Tetsuzaimon Iba was really challenging his Mother by proxy." he corrected, head tilting with a jingle and Shinji realized the vertiginous hairstyle was there to support a dozen or so small bells, before the rest of the sentence caught up with him.
"Tetsuzaimon?" Shinji blinked. "Wasn't that what Chikane Iba was going to call her son?
"Yah." Zaraki nodded, sounding like a sleigh full of presents.
Shinji stared blankly. "But- but- She was still pregnant when I.. left? He’s an infant!
"Nah, Lieutenant Iba's a whole-ass man now." Zaraki looked over his shoulder. "Ay Iba-" he called to a robust man with sunglasses wearing the 7th Division's lieutenant's badge, currently engaged in picking up Ikkaku and moving him out of the way for the 4th division triage. "-How come you're spotless when my vice looks like someone fucked up at the abattoir?"
"Hi Captain Zaraki!" Iba waved back, , Ikkaku slung over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. "It's because he's a fucking idiot, sir!"
"FUCK YOU!" Ikkaku shrieked, flipping them off from where he hung awkwardly over his friend's shoulder.
"FUCK ME YOURSELF YOU COWARD!" Zaraki bellowed back.
Shinji watched the spectacle with wide eyes, slowly coming to an unpleasant realization, before slowly putting a hand on Kuchiki’s shoulder. "…Sojun." He sighed, using his colleauges given name with heavy morose. "I’m afraid we may be Old Men now."
Kuchiki turned and blinked at him, confused. "I’m Byakuya."
It was Shinji's turn to stare in confusion. "...Kuchiki Byakuya isn't even in the Academy yet?"
"No, I'm a captain now. Sojun, my father, died shortly after your disappearance." Apparently-Byakuya explained, arching a concerned eyebrow down at him.
"Fucking what." Shinji said flatly, feeling like he'd been drained of all color and redrawn with a sharpie by someone's off-hand.
"HAH!" Barked Zaraki. "Yer Old Fart, Tiger."
Byakuya scoffed up at Zaraki. "What’s that make you then?"
"An Ancient and Revered Relic, thank you." Kenpachi said, puffing up his chest in mock-pride.
"What's going on?" Nel asked Yachiru in a loud whisper.
"Bowlcut here is an old fart who is just now realizing that he's an old fart, but he’s younger than me, so he’s also a baby." Yachiru explained. "Either way, impressive bowel control for his age!"
"HEY!" Yelped Shinji.
"Drink ya Battle Victory juice, Tiger." Zaraki said, giving Shinji a consoling pat on the shoulder.
"...It's a bitter Juicy Juice I drink this day." Shinji sighed, disconsolately stabbing the box with the straw and drinking with despair.

Hero Vision Vol.37 (2010/Summer) ft. Kamen Rider OOO Cast Members Watanabe Shu & Miura Ryosuke Interviews (translations below)
Publication: September 7, 2010
Watanabe Shu (Eiji Hino)
"Playing the role of the main character Eiji Hino and Kamen Rider OOO in "Kamen Rider OOO," is Watanabe Shu-kun. He's always thought, "I've always wanted to become a Kamen Rider," and the passion he has for this production has only seemed to have intensified. Watanabe-kun has only just started to create the role, but what's the main appeal of OOO and Eiji? We present to you this hot interview."
-I'm going to become a Kamen Rider!-
Ever since my first year of elementary school, starting with "Kamen Rider Kuuga," I've watched all of the Heisei Kamen Rider series in real time. At first, seeing a Kamen Rider defeat a monster was just so cool, and I couldn't stop watching. Around the time of the third series, "Ryuki," and fourth series, "Faiz," I was able to better understand even the smallest of details, and I began to think, "I'm going to become a Kamen Rider!"
While I continued to think like this, the chance to audition for "Kamen Rider OOO" was presented to me. I was more determined than any of the other contestants to win the audition, and it's not an exaggeration to say that I was putting my life on the line. That's why when I was chosen, I was so happy that I burst into tears.
Out of all the Heisei Kamen Rider series, the one I like the most is Kamen Rider Faiz. When he transforms, this area (his face and the 5 sections of his body) beeps and lights up, and when he does a Rider Kick, there's a flash of red…..the transformation and battle scenes are really cool!
Not only Faiz, but I've been influenced by the previous works of my seniors in many ways. In particular, when the Producer told me that Eiji's character is similar to that of Ryuki's main character (Shinji Kido), I had a fresh new look on him.
However, I don't want to end up copying his character, rather, I want to make sure that Eiji's own character comes through. When I think, "The feeling of Eiji," it's…..that he doesn't sweat the small stuff, and that he doesn't care about looking cool. Still, he'll face anyone directly, and has a strong will to protect what he wants to protect at all costs. I think that Eiji's a very straightforward guy. I also think the fact that he carries around nothing but his underwear and some coins means that he doesn't worry about appearances. My personality is that I also don't sweat the small stuff (laughs), and I'm not shy, so I have many similarities with Eiji. I'd like to play the role of a reliable hero by incorporating the coolness of Eiji and OOO into my own personality.
-A carefully crafted transformation scene-
It's been about 3 weeks since filming began (this interview takes place in early July), but the scale of the show's production was beyond my imagination. From the number of people involved, the methods used for filming, and everything else was massive. I get really excited when I think about being in such a production. I'll never forget the excitement I felt when I filmed the transformation scene for the first time! In Kamen Rider W's film (Kamen Rider W Forever), there's a scene where OOO appears, and by saying, "Henshin!," I realized just how hard I'd been working to get here……and I almost started to cry without thinking.
OOO's transformation is so cool! There's lots of attention to detail, like with the 3 medals in the belt and the elaborate moves. The Action Director, (Tsuyoshi) Miyazaki, came up with the basics, and we worked together on the detailed hand movements and positions. I suggested that since my left hand was facing the camera, my palm should be facing towards it, and also thought up ways of saying, "Henshin!" It's an important scene throughout the show, and I want to create the image of Eiji and the hero that I envisioned, so I was very specific about it. In W's film, Eiji is supposed to have experienced transforming many times before, so I made sure he looked confident. But, the transformation in the first episode of our main story is Eiji's first transformation, so it gives off a fresh feeling. I hope you enjoy both!
On days where I was taught how to pose, I'd practice by myself at home until midnight. In my mind, I created the image of becoming OOO as if I were in CG (laughs). I can't wait to see it, as the end result will be even better than that. I definitely have to go to the preview screenings! (laughs).
Eiji's a guy who's on the move alot, so I'm looking forward to seeing more action scenes. We shot alot in episodes 1 and 2, with me being grabbed by the monsters, being thrown around, being blown up, and rolling around. I'm still abit awkward at it, but with the help of Director Miyazaki and Suit Actor (Seiji) Takaiwa-san, I hope that in the end, I'll be able to jump off a building.
Ah, I mean, I want to improve that badly, but whether I can really do it or not is another story! (laughs). My dream is to punch and kick the monsters untransformed, so I'd like to make that happen too. If I keep talking about it like this, it'll come true someday, right? (laughs).
-Teamwork is the best!-
Things are so much fun on set. Ankh's actor, (Miura) Ryosuke-kun, is currently 5 years older me, and Shintaro Goto's actor, (Asaya) Kimijima-kun is 3 years older, but once I started talking to them, we quickly became friends. Miura-kun is the person I interact with the most in my role, so we're often together on set, and we talk about things other than acting, like my favorite manga (laughs). You get to know Miura-kun as he performs during filming. When the cameras aren't rolling, we talk about different topics, and I'd to get to know Miura-kun better when we're not acting.
As for Kimijima-kun….I was already a fan (laughs). When I was in middle school, I saw Kimijima-kun as a model in a fashion magazine, and it made me happy. Both of them are like kind older brothers, so I think it'll be alot of fun for the 3 of us to be in the same dressing room together.
We're off to a good start, and I have a feeling that the teamwork on set will keep getting better. We'll create an interesting show together, so please look forward to it!
-Watanabe Shu's Body-
Head: I'm a super positive person, so I just get through everything with the attitude of, "Well, I'll just figure it out." Who do I take after…..maybe it's a mutation? (laughs).
Ear: I've been told that I have "Hell Ears," because I carefully listen and remember the various things people say (laughs). I don't have any piercings…..making a hole looks like it'd hurt.
Eyes: I used to play sports, so my eyesight is well developed. I can even dodge punches, which I think will help me with action scenes!
Nose: I'm sensitive to the smell of food, and can guess what kind of food it is without looking. By the way, I love the smell of meat. I'm like a cave man (laughs).
Hand: I like to draw, and got the highest scores in art. But, I was more involved with sports, so now I'm abit rusty. Women probably prefer slimmer fingers anyway (laughs).
Mouth: I'm not shy at all, so even if I just met someone, I'll talk to them as much as I can. In other words, I'm annoying (laughs).
Foot: I'm fast! I used to run short distance and hurdle races, but I'm especially good at 400 meters races, and once took 3rd place in a prefectural competition with a time of 51.24 seconds!
Mind: I don't get upset about things too much. Maybe it's because a girl called me "insensitive" when I was in elementary school. Now that I think about it, that word seems to carry a serious meaning (laughs).
OOO: The theme of OOO is "Desire," and my "Desire" was to become a Kamen Rider. I think it's because I kept that in mind that I was able to encounter this production. Now, OOO is "Desire" itself. _
Miura Ryosuke (Ankh)
"Playing the double role of Shingo Izumi, a detective, and Ankh, the monster who possesses him in "Kamen Rider OOO," is Miura Ryosuke-kun. With the aim of, "Playing a beloved monster," he seems to be exploring for new ways to express himself everyday."
-Aiming to become a beloved monster-
I met with the Producer and Director through an interview, where I was given the opportunity to be apart of this production. The day before the interview, I was so nervous because my mind was racing (bitter smile). But, in order for people to understand you, you have to enjoy yourself, so that's what I did, and from the beginning, everyone talked to me in such a friendly manner…..I immediately felt relaxed and at ease.
When I was chosen for the role of Ankh, I thought to myself, "I'm grateful." I've been an actor for about 9 years now, and I was afraid that I'd only be doing on the spot performances. But, I now feel that it's because of my previous experience that I was able to get a role that'll last as long as a year. That's why I'm "grateful."
After filming began, the separation of the roles for Shingo Izumi and Ankh become a major point for me. Director (Ryuta) Tasaki, who shot episodes 1 and 2, asked me to, "Make some differences," for my tone of voice, facial expressions, and movements. Looking at the script, it's obviously different. But, when I tried playing the role, it was very difficult. Shingo becomes possessed by Ankh in the first episode, so we don't know much about his personality. His younger sister (Hina Izumi, played by Riho Takada-chan) is worried about him, so we know he's a good older brother, but, I think he's actually more of a troublesome brother, which is why his sister is so strong (laugh). I'm looking forward to finding out what kind of person Shingo is through Hina.
I'm still struggling with Ankh. The only thing I've clearly decided on, is to make him a "beloved monster." This was also brought up by Director Tasaki. Ankh's ideas and actions are pretty mischievous. One example is in episode 2, when he ate some popsicles, saying the reason was he wanted to, "Get some nourishment" (laughs). I'm sure that if I play the role without hesitating, my character will be loved by everyone. I wonder if Ankh will become more like a human by being with Eiji, or if a monster will always stay a monster…..I can't wait to see how things turn out.
Before we started filming, we had 2 rehearsals, but for the first one, time went by and I wasn't really grasping anything……I was certain that everyone was worried and wondering, "Is this guy gonna be okay?" I was so frustrated, that I would watch anime that reminded me of Ankh, I just couldn't stop thinking about him. I began to think that there was more to him than just being a right hand, and that there was a "heart" to him. Then, at the second rehearsal, I was able to get into being Ankh. The Director actually told me, "You're overdoing it" (laughs), but, those words helped me to get rid of any doubts, and I began to understand the "balance" of being Ankh.
-Creating Ankh together-
I'd like to draw your attention to the craftsmanship of Ankh's arm. It's been finely crafted down to the smallest details, and is very beautiful. It made me wonder how great it'd be to design the whole body. I can't tell you what material it's made of, as it's a trade secret (laughs), but, it's so light that I no longer feel uncomfortable wearing it. The index and middle fingers are my own fingers sticking through, so I can make detailed movements.
I've learned alot from Eitoku-san (Suit Actor), who moves Ankh's arm. Even though only his arm is shown in the show, he uses his whole body to express himself to the fullest. Just when I was thinking that I didn't want to be outdone, I had a very happy experience. The scene in the first episode where Ankh possesses Shingo was expressed through my own arm…..When I performed the moment when Ankh enters his arm and takes over, the camera man called Eitoku-san over and said, "Eitoku, this is how the acting should be done." The person who was filming was able to understand my performance. It made me incredibly happy. It made me think, "I can really do it as Ankh!" Through Eitoku-san and Ankh, I'm learning the importance of expressing my thoughts and feelings from the tips of my fingers, toes, and head.
The Director, makeup artists, costume designers, lighting crew……all of their hard work has been positive, and has helped me with becoming Ankh. I'd like to express myself as much as I can so that you can see it in a better way.
As of now, many of the actors are younger than me, but in the past, I'm often the youngest on set. I'd like to view this from the perspective of an older brother…….I want to, but it's abit difficult (laughs). The teen cast members are all so strong, that they often end up helping me out.
I think that (Watanabe) Shu is "free" in a good way. He says things like, "I want to express it in this way," without hesitation. In this world, people tend to hold back by saying, "I can't do this," or, "I can only do this much," but Shu doesn't have such an attitude. That's why I feel good and at ease when we're together. His presence in my life has grown so much, that I feel like we've already been together for a year. The only thing I wish he'd stop talking about, is his favorite manga. Every day when he comes to the set, he asks me, "Miura-kun, have you read this one?" I'm not really into reading manga, so one of my favorite things to say right now is, "Will I last a year….?" (laughs).
I'm grateful for being on such a set where we can have such innocent conversations. I'd like to build a relationship with Shu and all the cast members, so that we can motivate and support each other even during the hardest shoots. I'd like to work with everyone to grow not only within the work, but myself over the next year.
-Miura Ryosuke's Body-
Head: I'm someone that wants to have "fun." I want to take things in a fun direction, and for people to think, "He's smart." I don't want to show my efforts behind the scenes.
Eyes: I may have a hard time looking at people and other things. But, the feeling of taking in everything is always there. Because by doing so, I'll encounter something that'll move my heart.
Mouth: I like talking, but I'm not good at it. I'm often asked, "What was that last part?," because I tend to get carried away and say things too quickly…..
Nose: Like laundry fresh out of the dryer, I like scents that give off a warm feeling (laughs). Sleeping on them is ideal. Floral fabric softeners are the best.
Mind: I've always been stubborn, and I'm very consistent when it comes to my way of thinking. In order for people to understand that, I have to be firm with myself first.
Foot: I'm not slow, but I don't think I'm fast either. I do like to exercise and dance, and I like to just move my body. I'd be happy if I can make use of that in my action scenes.
Ear: I have really good ears. Even when I'm talking to someone, I can hear the conversations of those next to me, and I'll get angry and say, "What'd you say?!" (laughs).
OOO: This is the "start" for me. I'm confident that what I learn here will remain with me for the rest of my life, so I want to make this an important first step for me.

A Tall Manager -
Some teams and how they would be with a tall (betwen 175 to 180cm) beautiful manager.
The teams include: Karasuno, Aoba Johsai/Seijoh, Shiratorizawa and Fukurodani.
Note: This is another random idea i had and had a beautiful, amazing friend choose the teams for me :)) this was written at 3am and its rushed, I'm sorry.
Might have some grammatical mistakes or mispellings, sorry for those- LONG POST!
Pronouns: You, implied as female.
Tumblr media
Karasuno (Height: 177cm) -
You're a 1st year, in Class 5.
Which also means you share a class with the one and only, Yachi Hitoka.
You both first talk was due to a project you two needed to do together and she was utterly scared about your height.
But you quickly surprised her with a friendly nature, almost like an older sister. Yachi grew close to you rather fast.
So it was no surprise when she asked you to come with her to the school gym, after class.
"Hum? Why, are you going to train for something?"
"NO, I TOLD A BEAUTY THAT I WOULD JOIN HER CLUB ACCIDENTALLY AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO, PLEASE (Y/N)!"
"A beauty? what..."
Despite that, you decided to follow her anyways.
Arriving at the gym, it was clear both you and Yachi gained the attention of almost all boys in the gym, which was somewhat understandable, since we have this 149cm cute girl and 177cm pretty girl.
Kiyoko was the first to walk towards you both, greeting Yachi before going to you with a friendly welcoming and asking if you were to join as a third manager. Now you understand how Yachi couldn't say no.
Daichi, Suga and Asahi were the next to introduce. They all were really sweet to you, although Suga were jokingly disappointed at you being taller than him while being a 1st year, which made you laugh a bit.
Ennoshita, Kinoshita and Narita were the next ones, all also very kind, but in a more quieter way. Kinoshite also joked a bit, asking what you did to get so tall, since you were taller than him. His only answer was a slap at the back of his head by Ennoshita.
Nishinoya and Tanaka, were... something else. When you first introduced yourself, they were both dead silent, almost as stones statues, that also scared the other 2nd years, before tears appeared in their eyes. They were just happy of having 3 different managers. You could also hear Tanaka commenting something about "School's Beauty" and "Nekoma", but you weren't too sure.
Hinata and Yamaguchi were both stunned by you, a small blush in their faces while you looked at both of them with a bright smile. Hinata started jumping up and down, greeting you and commenting about your height in a non-malicious way, to which you tried to answer truthfully. As for Yamaguchi, he let out a small compliment, shocking himself, but your only response was a compliment about his freckles.
Tsukishima and Kageyama were... Indifferent. Of course, Kageyama was surprised about your height for some time since you were almost his height, but it quickly drew away. Tsukishima knew about you, since you were in a College Prep Class as well, so he somewhat respected you, but he really didn't care about your height or anything.
After that day, you were now officially a Manager for the Crows. And, even though you were almost the same height or taller than most of them, they were still protective of you, just like they were towards the other 2 managers.
But, to be honest, you wouldn't have it any other way.
Tumblr media
Aoba Johsai/Seijoh (Height: 179cm) -
You were a 2nd Year, in Class 6.
You sit right beside the sweet Libero for the Volleyball Team, Shinji Watari.
He was pretty surprised about your height, he wasn't short in anyway, being 171cm, but he could feel shorter beside your 179cm self.
You both were "seatmates" since the first day of 2nd year, and just clicked as friends.
After the volleyball team's practice match against Karasuno, Shinji constantly heard his captain commenting something about Karasuno's Manager and Seijoh's Lack of one.
So, one day, while both of you were quietly eating during lunch, he asked you the infamous question;
"(Y/N)-chan, do you have a club yet?"
"Hum? No, my last club was full this time."
"Would you like to join our club as a manager?"
To say you were surprised was an understatement, but you still agreed about it.
After school, you found yourself a bit nervous, you knew their volleyball team was strong and a powerhouse, so a small wave of anxiety filled you but Shinji was quick to calm down your nerves.
Arriving at the Gym, you took quick notice or the spacious place and all the players around, who seemed to be doing their own things.
The coaches already knew why you were there for, so he called out all of his team players, who were quick to notice the pretty girl standing besides their Libero.
The Third Years all had different reactions, and it kinda shocked you: Oikawa was the first one, greeting you with a sweet smile and also a wink, that took you by surprise, but a ball on his head was enough to make him drop the "flirtatious boy" act. Iwaizumi was the next one, the one who gave you a proper welcoming, glaring down at his captain. Matsukawa and Hanamaki, however, instead of introducing themselves first, their first reaction was compare you and the Ace height, while holding a bit of laugh, this making Iwaizumi angry and you a bit surprised.
Yahaba was another one who tried to flirt, but just looking at your sweet smile was enough to make the boy weak and stutter a bit before recovering his posture.
Kyotani completely ignored you, at first, but was forced by a certain Setter (read: Yahaba) to be kind and introduce himself. However, instead of the introduction, his first reaction was to ask how did you get this tall, boy was genuinely curious. Also, you were 0.2cm taller than him, he was insistent to know the "truth".
The First Year also had unique reactions: While Kindaichi was bit red on his face while staring at you, Kunimi were just staring uninterested and kinda tired from all his training, that didn't stop him from being kind to you when you first introduced yourself.
Needless to say, they all accepted you pretty fast as they first manager. Iwaizumi was quick to teach you how to throw a ball at your captain's head. Matsukawa and Hanamaki were also quick to put you in their group chat, where they would post random memes.
Now its a routine for you, Shinji and the other two 2nd years to have lunch together.
Also, the next time Seijoh went against Karasuno, Oikawa was fast to brag about you, as their manager, to his precious kouhai, who was utterly confused about the situation.
Tumblr media
Shiratorizawa (Height: 175cm) -
You were a 2nd year, in class 5.
Now this one is a bit different, you and Taichi were close friends before High School, meeting each other in middle school and it kinda just clicked as best friends.
This one, instead of Taichi calling you, you were the one to initiate the conversation. The main problem was the coach, who highly believed you would be a distraction for the boys.
It took some while to convince the coach, to even have the thought of giving you a chance, but seeing how some of them were alreayd distracting themselves with filling bottles and other stuff, instead of training was enough to make him agree.
So, one day, after school you found yourself standing on the doors, staring a bit dreamily around the gym and noticing the team players.
Look, you aren't short in the slightest, but being around this team makes you feel tiny. Their shortest members are around 174cm, for god's sake.
Taichi was the first one to notice you, jogging, mid training, to talk to you, and this quickly caught the attention of his teammates.
"Could this be? Taichi's girlfriend?~"
"Tendou, I don't think we should be meddling with our kouhai's love life."
"Are you telling me you aren't also curious Semi-Semi?"
"..."
Be glad the Coach was busy that time.
Anyway, while the third years talked like you weren't there, Taichi was quick to introduce you to his teammates.
First person you met was Goshiki, he seemed a bit nervous and serious around you, but still did a fast introduction and talking about how he was going to be Shiratorizawa's Next Ace, to which you just smiled brightly and agreed with him. Kai and Yusho, the next ones, were a bit in the back, but you still greeted both of them in a friendly manner, making a small blue appear at their face.
Shirabu, seemed a bit annoyed since you were 0.2cm taller than him, but was quickly subdued since you were really friendly to him. He seemed indifferent, but having someone sweet yet not overwhelming was good for his soul.
Then, you get the 3rd years. Hayato was the first upperclasmen to greet you, making a small joke about you being taller to him, which made you giggle a bit. Reon were also really sweet with you and promised to help you around the gym whenever needed, although you couldn't take his offer.
Semi was a bit more quiet about it, but he was glad to have a manager to help with certain 'trivial' things, since he was one of the main 'workers' there. If you like music, he would be quick to recommend multiple songs for your playlist.
Tendou was the sweetest one, instead of just a normal greeting, he would go directly for a quick hug; If you were uncomfortable with the situation, he would be quick to break from the hug and apologize, giving a proper introduction. If you were to return his hug, you are now officially adopted by him, that's it.
Ushijima was a bit more complicated. While he was staring you down, he introduced himself and welcoming you to the team officially. He seemed a bit blunt, but you were quick to notice that this wasn't in a malicious way. So you took his encouragement and tips to heart whenever doing your managerial work.
In all fairness, this team would act like they didn't need a manager first but with you there, their tactics were more calculated and they stuff was more organized, so they were pretty happy with you there.
Also, when you first met Oikawa, he was exteemely annoyed at the fact that Shiratorizawa had a manager before him. Ushijima was quick to throw his famous infamous catchphrase, annoying the setter even more.
Tumblr media
Fukurodani (Height: 180cm) -
You are a first year, but this time, you didn't share class with anyone else on the team.
You trial as Manager was one of an accident.
You were walking around the schoolz trying to evade as many people as possible, you accidentally bumped into one of the volleyball managers, who seemed to be in a hurry, with you both falling to the ground.
Before you could even say anything, she quickly got up and apologize, picking up some papers she scattered around and then running away. What she failed to notice was one last paper laying beside you.
"Volleyball Trial Manager Sheet".
While in class now, you stared at the paper, a bit curious about it. You knew the volleyball team had alreayd 2 managers, so they wouldn't really need another one right? But you also remembered that they were both 3rd years and this was their last year, what if the team doesn't have another manager?
These thought plagued in your mind for the entire day and took one of your parents to convince you to finally join it.
The next day, you decided to join during morning practice, rapidly noticing they were in a rally, so you just stayed at the door, trying not to disturb the team. But a hand on your shoulder made you turn around, noticing the Coach with a small smile.
He then entered the gym, clapling to get his students attention, which was a success but their attention was fast towards you. You introduced yourself kinda nervous about the sittuation but still holding your place.
Yukie and Kaori were the first to go to you. They were really happy to have another manager with them, and kept complimenting your height, which made you a bit bashed.
The first years were a bit in shock about your height. Anahori was a bit intimated but curious, but he also hold onto his comments to himself, scared that it could offend you in any way, to which you quickly denied, saying you didn't mind. Onaga was also surprised, he didn't have to look down too much to talk to you and that was a relief for his neck. He was also happy you didn't mess his name like his classmates.
Komi and Konoha were a bit in shock, their new manager was taller than them in unique levels, but they were really gentle with their greetings even joking a bit about stealing your height to play.
Sarukui was one of the calm ones, he was kinda surprised about looking at you in the eyes without bending his neck, but nonetheless he was happy about having another manager happy. He was also grateful about you not commenting on his mouth unnecessarily, that has happened way too much.
Washio was somewhat indifferent about it. He was surprised a bit but didn't have anything to comment much, since he knew height was something uncontrollable. As being a manager, he was glad to see the team would have someone trustworthy as their manager for two more years when the other 2 graduates.
Now, here comes the complicated part. Bokuto for you was an enigma, he was blunt about his question and commentaries about your height, but you knew there was no ill intent in his words. But after it cooled down, he was fast to ask you about volleyball and what you knew.
When you first found out about his Emo Modd, you were taken aback, since how could someone lively be so quiet?
Akasshi, the sweet boy he is, thanked you a lot almost daily, since your praises were quick to take Bokuto out of his Emo Mode, thus taking a lot of stress out of him. He was also the most helpful one, he would always take the boxes from you hand, yadda, yadda.
Overall, Fukurodani were pretty shocked about your height but these sweet boys were nothing but sweet.
Also, Bokuto bragged about you being a Manager to his cat friend, who at first thought was a lie but was quickly shut off by your tall stature cheering for Bokuto.

✿.*・。 ꒰ black male reader, high school au!, reader & shinji are both 18/3rd years in highschool, delinquent! shinji (he smokes weed & is a lil mean lol), shinji & hiyori are related, smut (?) at the end idk, shinji is also extremely obsessed w/the reader (real), ah this took me so long (∩´﹏`∩) i don’t know if i’m going to keep it up for long, click 4 art creds! ꒱
ʚɞ ˚୨୧⋆。˚ SHINJI Hirako, 10, wiped the imaginary sweat from his brow. Today is the day he confesses to his best friend, Y/n L/n. His mother and yours had been good friends since high school, which explained why you and he were like two peas in a pod, having known each other since infancy. Shinji couldn't have asked for a better best friend than you; you both slept over at each other's houses daily, played video games, watched horror movies, and snacked on sweets all weekend. When you spent time with him, his heart began to race, his palms sweated, and his cheeks turned a vivid shade of crimson, indicating that he had strange feelings for you. Because of your kindness and the way you care for him, his affection for you grew stronger by the day. His younger sister, Hiyori, used to mock him and label him a coward for not being able to express himself to you, but that will change today!
When he spotted you walking out of the classroom with Kensei and Love, aka your bodyguards, he tightened his grip on the small box of chocolate and flowers. Instead of standing in the center of the hallway, he carefully worked his way up to the youthful group of boys. He observed as you stopped chatting to the boys and focused on him walking, making him much more nervous than before. "Hi, Shinji!" You smiled and waved at your blonde-haired best friend, who looked like he was about to pass out. Kensei and Love turned to look at the sweets and flowers in the boy's hand. He handed the flowers and chocolates out to you with his head lowered before any of them could say anything. "H-Hi Y/n! Please go out on a date with me! You’re the coolest, kindest, and sweetest person I’ve ever met! I promise you won’t be sorry!" His voice cracked at nearly every word, leading Kensei to cover his mouth to stifle the laughter. Love sighed and turned his head in the opposite direction, attempting to erase the scene he just saw.
When Kensei began to snicker at him, you frowned and lightly smacked the back of his head. "Shin, don't be so shy; I've known you for years. And, of course, I'll go with you!" You took the box and flowers from his hands as the dumbbells on his shoulders rolled off with ease, which meant his nervousness was disappearing. He quickly got up and straightened his posture with a bright smile on his face. Before he could form his next sentence, a set of lips that belonged to you brushed across his cheek. Making him lose all sense and turn as red as a tomato. "We should ask our moms to take us to that new arcade you talked about!" You told him as he nodded mindlessly with a silly grin on his lips. "Yeah, we enjoy arcades." His voice cracked once more, this time making you giggle. Both Kensei and Love curved their heads to the side as they witnessed the sight. "Oh, brother! Look for a classroom." Kensei fake gagged as Love sighed, realizing beforehand that this blossoming relationship was most likely going to be a problem in the future.
Tumblr media
ʚɞ ˚୨୧⋆。˚ AND Love was completely correct. If he believed Shinji was in love with you in elementary and middle school, he had no idea what was in store for him after everyone entered high school. By this point, everyone knew Shinji was obsessed with you. From having your name tattooed on his forearm and finger to having your initials pierced in his ear, having you as his lock screen and home screen, and owning an I Heart My Boyfriend shirt somewhere in his closet, he's got it all. He's also your biggest fan! From his frequent appearances at your games, he is usually the loudest one in the bleachers, holding a poster. Being the one to carry you and your belongings when it's time to leave, as well as ordering takeout for you and him for the night. Shinji was the greatest boyfriend! No one could tell you otherwise. Most classmates assumed you threw a spell on the blonde, but it turns out he was just in love.
The sound of laughter was the only thing that could be heard from the janitor’s closet. The laughter belonging to you and Shinji, who dragged you in there the moment he saw you in the hall. "Shin, we’re going to be late for class." You murmured as your boyfriend proceeded to kiss your lips, ignoring the fact that not only you would be late but he as well. The small space of the janitor's closet is causing him to press you against the wall, with him lifting your thigh till it reaches his waist. "It doesn't matter if you don't turn up. Plus, I missed you." His pierced tongue dragged across your soft, ebony skin while his lips whispered into the crook of your neck. You ran your fingers through his soft golden hair. "I've missed you too, which is why I'm here. So that I can see you." You sighed. This is what happens when you separate yourself from him for longer than a day. He’ll turn into a baby crying for its mama.
"I barely see you now because you've been so caught up with volleyball and those damn club activities. I thought you forgot about me." He scoffed, his gaze now fixed on yours. You've participated in almost every club and sport since the first year of high school. That's why you were so popular. You gently smiled as you placed both hands on his cheeks, bringing him in for another kiss. "You know I can never forget about you, baby. Plus, I'm free today. This week, Rose, Lisa, and Love are in charge of the clubs. And I don’t have practice until next week." You grinned while playing with his several ear piercings, your initials dangling from his right lobe in gold and diamonds.
Shinji's eyes instantly lit up as he flashed his well-known smile, displaying his gorgeous pearly whites. "And yes, we can finally play that new street fighter game you were talking about." You pecked his cheeks as he buried his face into the crook of your neck, getting a good whiff of your scent before signing. "Mhmm, I love you. Also, you smell so fuckin' good. Like freshly baked cookies mixed with cocoa butter. It makes me want to eat you." He murmured, never letting his smile go. His sweet but strong aroma invaded your nostrils as you chuckled and buried your face in his shoulder. "I love you too, Shin. You smell like vanilla cupcakes with a hint of weed. Which you most likely smoked during lunch." He laughed and drew his face away from your neck. You could read him like a picture book. "Oops." He gave you his signature smirk, his hands trailing from your waist to one of his favorite parts of your body.
"Shin, don't let them find you smoking on school grounds. They almost sent you to detention for three months the last time you were caught." You scolded your partner, who was rolling his eyes. Because of that wet floor prank he committed in his first year, which resulted in the principal injuring his back, the staff were utter jerks to him. "Keyword, almost! My wonderful boyfriend bailed me out and convinced them to shorten my sentence." He kissed your cheek, and because you were one of the school's favorite students, you persuaded the administration to ease up on your nutty boyfriend's punishment. They eventually reduced his sentence from three months to one week of cleaning duties.
"But in all seriousness, I’m so lucky you’re my boyfriend. Everything about you is so perfect that sometimes I wonder what would’ve happened if I hadn’t confessed. Just looking at you drives me insane." He whispered, now placing his hands on your ass and gently sucking on the flesh with his lips against your neck. You sighed and tilted your head back, feeling yourself fall into his trap but swiftly snapping out of it. "Shin, don't start again." You bit your lip to keep the stream of noises from coming out, knowing that if you made a sound, he wouldn't stop. He groaned, "Oh, come on. If we stay a little longer, I can show you what else my tongue piercing can do." He ran his hands up your button-up shirt, making you shiver under his cold fingers. You felt your cheeks become hot at the sentence; you knew him for over a decade and still couldn’t get used to his flirtatious demeanor.
"Maybe later, but we have to go now." You pulled away while adjusting your black-framed glasses. It takes some time for the burning sensation on your cheeks to fade away. Shinji followed behind as you opened the door, which revealed the familiar set of teenagers. Shinji put his arm around your shoulder and glared at the group, specifically Ichigo. Ichigo rolled his eyes, and Orihime waved as Uryu and Chad turned their heads away from the couple. Keigo's cheeks flushed a deep scarlet, his mouth dropping from pair. He was undoubtedly thinking negatively. "Eh? What the hell are you guys doing outside the door waiting for?" You whacked Shinji's arm as he swore at the gathering of first-year students. Ichigo scoffed at the man with blonde hair who stuck his tongue out and stuck the middle finger from behind your head.
"Are you blind? We're here to put these supplies up! But, of course, you're absent from class!" The Kurosaki argued back with the third year, who was grinding his teeth together, trying to keep back a torrent of vulgarities and insults. "What on earth were you two doing in the closet?" Keigo asked, his curiosity (and nosiness) getting the best of him. "What did you think we were doing?! Picking fucking daisies?!" He snapped at the youngster, who shrieked and hid behind Chad. Keigo's eyes widened as his cheeks blushed again, putting two and two together. You sighed and pinched your boyfriend's cheek, inflicting pain on him. "I'm sorry about him. We're already late, Shinji, so let's go." You waved farewell to the teens and tugged on his arm as he followed, not before turning around and flashing the middle finger at Ichigo, who quickly returned the gesture.
"I can’t believe L/n-san is dating someone like him." Ichigo grimaced at the sight of the male, who grinned and pulled you closer to him while giving multiple kisses to your lips, not caring about the students walking by. "They’re so cute! From what I heard, they’ve been in a relationship since elementary school!" Orihime squealed at the couple, and Keigo's mouth dropped to the floor. Elementary school?! He remembered when all the girls ran away from him on the playground. How could someone like you date a delinquent like Shinji? "Huh?! Is that why he’s so obsessed with L/N? I wish someone loved me like that." Crocodile tears streamed down his face as he looked at the couple. "Maybe because you’re a weirdo." "WHAT?!"
"Babe, why did you do that." Shinji massaged his reddish cheek while pouting. "I warned you about cursing at the first years, Shin." You just stated, as he sneered and rolled his eyes, this wasn't his first time in trouble for yelling or cursing at a group of students. He still remembered how the majority of them accused him of insulting them, which resulted in him being thrown in detention. "Are we going to your house today?" You changed the subject because you didn't want to hear his complaints. "Yeah, my mom is working the night shift, and Hiyori is staying at Mashiro's. So we can have as much fun as we want." You didn't have to look at him to notice the type of smile he wore as he leaned into your ear.
"You’re right, we can have fun all night." Your fingertips brushed against his exposed collarbones as you moved your hand up his chest. "But if you could just do one thing for me, please." As your hand moved to caress his cheek, you grinned. Shinji nodded while becoming utterly hypnotized. "If you don't make any more trouble today, I'll give you anything you want." Your minty breath fanned over his lips as your lips brushed against his. Shinji nodded his head again after taking a quick look at your lips. Knowing that the only way to persuade him to behave properly is to bring something to the table, you hummed and pulled him into a kiss.
Tumblr media
ʚɞ ˚୨୧⋆。˚ "FINALLY, I'm done." Shinji sighed as he ran his fingers through his hair. He clicked the x to close each tab while complaining. He put the joint to his lips while leaning back on the headboard and proceeded to doze off while gazing at his roof, the music playing from the speakers lulling him into a trance. When he heard the bathroom door open, he turned his attention away from the roof and watched as you emerged from the room wearing just a shirt. His eyes studied your physique, revealing just how much those workouts altered your body. You chuckled at your partner, who was virtually stripping you down with his eyes, when you heard the wolf whistle from across the room. "Nice thighs, babe." He smiled at you as you took off the shower cap from your hair and showed him your h/c locs, which were no longer pulled into a ponytail.
"Thank you, baby. Did you finish your homework?" You slipped into the bed as he blew out the smoke, his half-lidded eyes peering back into yours. "Mhmm, now come sit on my lap." He patted his lap with the same grin on his face. When you got into his lap, his hand grabbed your waist and pulled you closer until your chest touched his. Shinji's half-lidded eyes scanned your features; your beautiful e/c eyes were enough to put him in another trance. Not to mention how your h/c locs and the golden jewelry swayed with every movement you made. In his eyes, no one was as beautiful as you. "My boyfriend is so pretty." He muttered, his hand resting on your thigh and letting the flesh seep through his fingers. "Mine is too." You beamed, your hands running past his tank top to feel his toned chest.
"Gimme a kiss." He grinned and placed the joint on the tray, now gripping your ass with both hands. You wrapped your arms around his neck, pulling him in. Once your plump lips met his, he pushed his tongue past your lips. Allowing him to explore the damp cavern, the subtle taste of bubblegum toothpaste lured him closer. He groaned when he felt your ass against his clothed cock. From the way you rocked back and forth on his lap, you were completely aware of what you were doing. "Mhmm." You moaned when he began to rock your hips against his rising boner; his mouth completely absorbed the rest of your sinful sounds. When he pulled away from the kiss, you whimpered while he grinned and gently pushed you down onto the mattress. The blonde took the joint and pressed it to his lips, chuckling at his boyfriend, who squirmed on the mattress. "S–Shin please." You called out to your lover as you rubbed your thighs together, yearning for friction since he had stopped.
Shinji put the stick down and crawled between your legs after deciding to listen to your pleading. "Please what baby?" He sucked on your neck with a sideways tilt of his head and a smirk on his lips. The smell of brown sugar drove him to lick and suck every area of your neck, and he could feel himself growing drunk on your trademark scent. When you wrapped your legs around his waist and yanked on his golden locks, he let out a moan. "I-I need you right now." You exhale, the cold metal on your skin making you quiver. Shinji chuckled and drew away from your neck, exposing the dark marks he'd produced on your flesh. He bit his lip and placed his fingers around your neck as he felt himself becoming harder at the sight. His slim fingers gripped the sides of it, causing you to choke on your moans.
"So pretty." He muttered as he removed your shirt, exposing your beautiful dark brown skin. His fingertips skimmed across your beautiful skin before brushing against your nipples, causing you to tilt your head back. "A little sensitive, aren’t you?" He questioned, his thumb and index finger rolling over the sensitive bud while sucking on the other. "O-Oh, Shinji." As he continued to suck on the delicate flesh, you fisted his hair when he tugged on the bud before flicking it off with his tongue. Shinji rutted his hips against yours once more after hearing you say moan his name countless of times. "Shin, p–please kiss me." You exhaled through the moans as he lifted his head from your chest, smirking as he observed your dazed expression.
When his lips made contact with yours, he pushed past your luscious lips. As he groaned against the warmth of your lips, his hands explored your thighs once more. He couldn't get over the smooth tenderness of your lips, no matter how many times he kissed you. His saliva tasted like the sweets he had recently eaten. You both kissed each other as though one of you was going to vanish at any moment. You whimpered as he broke away, missing the feel of his lips. His lustful gaze returned to your needy ones. When he noticed you pouting, he sucked his teeth. "What exactly is it now?" He sighed. You were always so damn whiny when you got worked up. "Can you take your s–shirt off? Please?" You pulled on the fabric that covered his torso, concealing the other tattoos as well. Shinji's eyes softened, and he said, "Of course, baby." He yanked off the tank top and tossed it across the room.
He witnessed as your eyes sparkled at the sight of his chest, your fingertips brushing against the tattoos on his torso. "Do you like what you see?" He teased you as you nodded mindlessly, your gaze fixed on his chest, notably his nipple piercings. "Take off your pants, too." Shinji raised an eyebrow when you spoke to him. What? The way you talked to him gave the impression that he had already fucked your head up. He took both of your hands and pinned them above your head, making you squirm at his gaze. "What's the magic word, sweets?" He asked, his other hand clasping around your neck once more. You poked your lips out while making your infamous puppy eyes at him. "Please?" You tilted your head, giving it a more innocent appearance.
"Good boy. You won’t be needing these anymore." He slapped your thigh before tearing your underwear off, causing you to gasp as cold air hit your cock. When he reached down to the waistline of his sweatpants and teasingly tugged at the fabric, you bit your lip. Shinji laughed again when he heard your whining. "Please, hurry up." You whispered, your mouth watering. Shinji finally decided to stop his taunting and removed his sweatpants and underwear. "O-Oh my," you spoke unconsciously, leaving you in awe of his glory. His gaze moved down your body, stopping on your member that begged to be stroked. "Would you take a look at that? Someone is quite eager." He teased, making you cover your face with your hands.
"Don't look away, baby; let me see that pretty face of yours." He pulled your hands off your face and repeatedly pecked your lips. Even though this wasn't the first time you had seen Shinji naked or stripped off in front of him, it always made you shy. Before taking you and his cock and holding them in one hand, Shinji gave you one final kiss on the lips. His hands felt so amazing on yours that you softly moaned when they made contact with your erection. You both made a series of moans as soon as he started moving his hand. The unfamiliar sensation was like bliss. "Shit, this felt better than last time." Shinji cursed as he watched the gorgeous look on your face transform into unbearable pleasure. From the looks of it, this was going to be a long night for you both.

Bleach Headcanons: Mistletoe
Tumblr media
Banner by animated glitter graphics-n-more
Some of the men find you under mistletoe. What would they do?
Tumblr media
Jushiro Ukitake He would chuckle softly and approach y/n with a gentle smile, expressing his amusement at the situation. “Ah, the mistletoe surprise! Tradition is tradition, after all." Being the kind-hearted person he is, he'd graciously embrace the tradition and lightly lean in to share a quick, chaste kiss.
Byakuya Kuchiki Showing his composed demeanor, Byakuya might initially appear stoic, but his subtle smirk would give away his amusement. His façade would crack ever so slightly, a rare amused glint in his eyes. He'd lean in but then stop just before their lips meet, teasingly whispering, "Close, but not quite," and then walk away with a small smirk.
Kensei Muguruma He'd react with a mix of surprise and a rough chuckle, scratching the back of his head in mild embarrassment, looking at the mistletoe and then at y/n. "Guess this thing's got us trapped, huh?" With a gruff laugh, he'd lean in but then chicken out at the last second, giving a playful noogie instead. "Better luck next time, rookie!"
Rose Otoribashi Being suave and charismatic, Rose would greet the situation with a charming grin, teasing the reader with a play on mistletoe related song lyrics. “I might not be Santa Claus, but everyone will know who kissed you last night!” He'd smoothly lean in, placing a flirtatious kiss on the reader's cheek while making a lighthearted comment about the romantic atmosphere.
Shinji Hirako With a mischievous glint in his eye, Shinji would find the situation hilarious and would certainly use it to his advantage to tease the reader. He'd playfully act shocked, feigning innocence. "What's this? Mistletoe? Oh no, we're doomed!" He'd lean in towards your lips but then at the last minute pull away. "Fooled ya! Can't make it that easy!"
Ichigo Kurosaki Flustered and awkward, Ichigo would stumble over his words and gestures, clearly embarrassed. Blushing furiously, he'd stammer, "I-I guess we have to, right?" With a nervous smile, he'd lean in but slip up on the timing, bumping foreheads with unintended force. "Oops! Sorry! Did I hurt you?” He’ll probably rub your forehead as compensation.
Kisuke Urahara With his trademark mysterious smile, Urahara would likely tease the situation in his usual enigmatic way, making a witty comment or two about the unexpectedness of mistletoe. Although probably, he’s rigged the mistletoe in some way to hover over you. He'd play along, planting a brief but charming kiss on the lips, all the while maintaining his laid-back attitude.
Shuhei Hisagi Bashful Hisagi would be taken aback at first, blushing furiously and stumbling over his words in surprise. He'd shyly agree to follow the tradition, quickly bending forward to give a clumsy kiss on the cheek before disappearing.
Izuru Kira Being the polite and reserved soul he is, Kira would initially be taken aback, blushing and feeling flustered by the situation. He'd blush deeply. "I-I suppose it's customary..." He'd lean in with a shy smile, but at the last moment, he'd accidentally peck the reader's nose instead, apologizing profusely. "I-I'm sorry! That wasn't what I intended!"
Zaraki Kenpachi With a hearty laugh, Zaraki would scratch the back of his head, amused by the situation. "What's this? Mistletoe, huh? I don't know about these fancy traditions." Despite his tough exterior, he'd grin mischievously and lean in, but just before reaching the mistletoe, he'd sling an arm around the reader's shoulder in a playful headlock instead. "Ha! You thought I'd follow the rules? Not my style! But hey, happy holidays anyway!"

It boggles my mind how important the Ryuki Clip Show Episode is
Like, we got:
First proper appearance of Kamen Rider Odin
THE REVEAL THAT RYUKI IS A TIME LOOP STORY, A FACT THAT IS SO MASSIVELY IMPORTANT
Because of the time loop aspect, the clip show aspect is played for horror, with Shinji desperately trying to change something, anything, in the brief moments when he remembers the previous loop, but everything mostly still happens the same way anyway
EXTREMELY GOOD SHINJI MOMENT: leaving hundreds of notes for himself so he can just get one hit in on Odin, and he succeeds! Even though it was small, Shinji succeeded in changing something, in doing something different this time around. Even this tiny change proves Kanzaki Shiro wrong
Also a very important character moment for Kanzaki Shiro, with the reveal that he started a whole new loop just to save a drawing of himself and Yui, which is such a crucial insight into his character
And it's not that this episode is important despite being a clip show episode, because it uses the clip show format to establish all these important things. I don't think it would be nearly as effective if it wasn't a clip show episode. Obsessed

Hi, what do you think of the Anime!Kaworu (not manga or Rebuild) analysis called 'Kaworu Nagisa, Ángel del amor y el libre albedrío. Diseccionando a los Ángeles (última parte)' by MistralChronicles?, has English subtitles.
I finally gave it a look after being inundated with life stuff (forgive me for taking long on this) and wow! If you're a Kaworu fan looking for some really indepth analysis your cup will truly runneth over on this one.
Let me start by saying that this lengthy analysis works because it doesn't go deep into his characterization under the assumption that the viewer already knows. It's all conveniently wrapped in one video. For those that already do know, this video acts as an excellent refresher, given how expansive Evangelion's lore is.
(warning for abuse mention)
The first thing that stands out to me in this 2 hour analysis, aside from thoroughly research on Eva's production history is the noted rearranging of Kaworu's surname as Shisha. Shisha means messenger (You'll notice the term Saigo Shisha to refer to the angels in Eva) while also pertaining to death.
This also works well with MOVIC's assigning of Kaworu to the Death Tarot Card.
Tumblr media
One door closes and another opens. Kaworu dies and he understands that he is the Last Messenger. In so doing, he ensures humanity's welfare in the process.
I love loved that MC (I'll be abbreviated Mistral Chronicles as MC in this analysis) talked of Draftworu and the scars. I wouldn't call those suicide attempts but I would call those self-harm. That's not to say that Draft iteration Kaworu didn't hold ideas relating to suicide.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
MC notes that Kaworu and Shinji's excellent chemistry. Kaworu is more bright and outgoing whereas Shinji is more neutral. This manifests in their shirts: orange and blue, respectively, because they compliment each other.
I think my one pet peeve (even less, actually, just something pointed out) through this analysis however is that Kaworu is directly called Adam. Kaworu's existence as Adam is by proxy. Meaning that because Adam's soul is within him, he's Adam that way rather than being some physical iteration.
Kaworu was meant to be so good that his nature alone would be enough to give Shinji an inferiority complex. MC makes the excellent point that because Kaworu's appearance had to be truncated to one episode, we only ever see not the complex, but rather Shinji's idealization of Kaworu.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think about this fact a lot. How, even though Kaworu accepts Shinji for who he is, there's a pushback in parts of Eva communities that assumes bad faith on Kaworu's end. It drives me up a wall every so often due to exactly where the bad faith comes from. There's also a part of me that understands that total acceptance and unconditional love aren't impossible manifestations. Out there, there is someone who appreciates and is so in love with you in all ways. We're so used to being around people trying to change key aspects of us rather than trying to comprehend us at our very cores. It makes the words 'I love you' feel all the more surreal. Genuine, unrelenting love for who you are feels like a shock to the system.
(Also small sidebar before we move on: MC goes into how Kaworu can fenagle with Unit-02 despite the non-reconfigured soul. When she says 'he can control a body that is his own' she's referring to the fact that Kaworu, being an angel, is comprised of particle wave matter)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kaworu has Shinji's support. Anywhere can be paradise. Shinji is his home.
MC points out something that often goes missed by some groups: Kaworu's existence is ultimately integral to Evangelion. Not just to Shinji. Kaworu's status as the Angel of Free Will is an ironic one of sorts. Other angels which preceded him desired to understand more of their lilin 'neighbors', so why then, is Kaworu aligned with such a moniker?
Kaworu's kindness, or his sacrifice to humanity, allowed them that free will. Another reading that I have alongside the aforementioned is that Kaworu's action shows the unsettlingly paradoxical nature of free will; that your freedom exists because someone allowed it for you.
The video also goes on to point out that Kaworu doesn't overstep boundaries (i.e. the bath scene). He thinks that Shinji wants to go with him out of the bath. He doesn't really pry. He's not fully attuned to Shinji's culture to understand why there'd be aversion with acts of sudden closeness. That's not to say that Shinji was grossed out by Kaworu (which he wasn't), but that Shinji's aversion comes from a place of fear from being hurt again.
Now onto Netflix's translation.
MC transitions into the Netflix translation and how it danced around 'It means I love you.' Debates about translation are sometimes had pertaining to this scene. You'll often see people argue about how in the Japanese version 'koui/koi' is purely platonic in nature. Given the actual context with the scene as well as the symbolisms that carry later in in End of Evangelion, this is of course far from the truth. The word is a pun which is doesn't carry well outside the language. The words 'koi' and 'suki' are indeed romantic, and EOE doesn't stand as the only example. The drafts debunk any perception of Kaworu and Shinji's relationship being that of 'just friends.' MC also adds more: that Anno gave the drafts to someone who was versed in writing boys love.
The erasure in the translations was justified via 'Evangelion is an ambiguous work.' Correction: Evangelion's moral to the viewer is ambiguous. The characters have been talked about in supplementary material. That isn't ambiguous.
Tumblr media
This snippet here also debunks the platonic angle. When the characters are shown top-down in bed in certain parts of the series, there's some adversity or lack of communication. Shinji thinks of Asuka as only a child (something about glass houses and throwing stones). Asuka did share the sheets with Hikari, though faced away because she felt too vulnerable. But Shinji and Kaworu? They're clicking so much that Shinji divulges to Kaworu about his life prior to the events of Eva. Kaworu offers to sleep on the floor rather than Shinji but Shinji prefers the floor. Shinji catches himself being vulnerable but never backpedals or fronts about his life. At that moment, he was vulnerable with the right person.
Kaworu's such a surreal character in the world of Evangelion because he doesn't really ask anything. He's kind, but far from perfect. But he feels almost immaculate because Evangelion's world comes across to many viewers as cynical. People are often cold and get away with proverbial murder. None of us can understand each other fully because our boundaries not only protect us, but impede us. Fear drives us to be alive but also stunt current relationships while condemning future ones.
The lake scene is brought up in the video analysis in that it makes little to no sense. It's just...weird to think about.
Kaworu's donor is brought up here, though I wouldn't go so far as to say that they 'gave a body.' During the Director's Cut of episode 21, it's stated that Kaworu's conception came about as a Contact Experiment. DNA 'dove' into the flesh of Adam, awakening them. It could have been anything.
Since we're talking of enigmatic lore of Eva, 'clone' is a sort of loose term here. Both of the 'cloned' individuals may have the slight features of their donors, but not by much. Their complexions are pale, nearly calling to mind someone with albinism. Why is it that both of these experiments end in these features?
Tumblr media
Love that MC points this out.
Shinji's on the warpath with angels not because of his contempt, but he seeks validation. Then Kaworu comes along, gives him that validation without condition. There's no ulterior motive for his kindness. He loves Shinji for all his flaws.
Shinji's ire for Kaworu's reveal is a front. He's not angry at Kaworu for his status. His forced to fight between two sources of validation, those around him most or Kaworu. Shinji doesn't want to be forced with the troubling revelation that his fight against the angels isn't genuine. This is further reinforced in episode 25 in which he doubles down.
Tumblr media
Kaworu explains the AT field, how integral it is to understanding others (and outside to the viewer, important to the plot). The deployment of boundaries can protect you but in the same vein hurt others. MC points out that Unit-02 stabbing 01 is metaphorical, and a clever subtlety at that. The progression knife is inserted in the left side of the Evangelion, where the heart is.
He utters 'Human hope is made from sorrow.' From despair, joy arises. Kaworu realizes that his merging with Adam (biological desire, not moral) would spell annihilation for the whole of mankind and its hopes. As the last of his kind, the onus lies on him to cause a freedom of one species to inherit Earth while the other perishes.
It's also why Ode to Joy is synonymous with Kaworu.
It is why he is the Angel of Free Will.
Take the AT Field's usage into consideration. It can be used to protect, hurt, overstep, or even temporarily shut oneself off from the pains of the world. These are used to navigate the circumstances around you, and this truth implicates the angels, given they're as complex as humanity.
Thus, the larger deployment of Kaworu's AT Field is made clear. Blood stains his hands, regardless of outcome.
On this end, humans do have AT Fields but lack the physiology to deploy them physically. The Fields are instead metaphorical. They exist as veneers of a person, avoidance of an issue, among other things.
Kaworu's designation as the first and last angel is pointed out. This not only goes for the series but also the Rebuilds as well and it works thematically. Kaworu's the 13th angel in Rebuilds and this is juxtaposed in FINAL with Unit 01 as well as 13. 01 in FINAL is considered Hope whereas 13 is considered Despair. Before Kaworu's 'demotion' he was hopeful in that he would be able to save the world without mass death on his head. When realizing he was set up when Shinji retrieves the spears in Rebuilds, he becomes the 13th. In the original this manifests as Kaworu feeling hopeful that he found someone who finally understood him. Someone whom he could love and laugh with. 'Human hope is made of sorrow.' has even more depth, when the above is considered added with Kaworu's empathetic nature. He understands the needs of man, because he feels this way too.
Kaworu feels hope when being around Shinji (Also makes 'I may have been born to meet you' more wholesome) but a sense of sorrow knowing his mission.
He becomes desperate, understanding that if man were to live, he'd need to die.
Tumblr media
This is probably the only part I strongly disagree with. One of the biggest horrors of Evangelion is that people do take from others (and they often get away with murder). The cast heaps baggage on each other, or neglects them unless a situation comes in which benefits them. It's not a nihilist bent that Eva goes on, because it'd contradict that anywhere could be paradise. It highlights that humanity is ugly without going into a 'so get over it' angle. Eva highlights that realities are often ugly, but hardly defeatist or smugly pessimistic.
Kaworu's likened to Rei in their sad realities. He sets up to become something larger, but the reasons differ. Kaworu does humanity a kindness of his own accord. Rei? Becomes a mother figure simply because her whole existence of a man's unhealthy coping mechanisms. She is conditioned, start to finish to be a mother. Even though she understands more of her identity thanks to Kaworu, her tragedy is that she doesn't know how not to be anything maternal. Kaworu's kindness is his own and his tragedy derives in knowing the cycle but being a slave to it. His ultimate tragedy is that, for how powerful he is, he's still susceptible to unhealthy cycles, forced to play out that role until it is broken.
Tumblr media
It's pointed out that Shinji's depressive spiral goes deeper with Kaworu's death and not just because of the event itself. 'Death is the only freedom.' are chilling words from a boy who could not control his existence but could control his death. This makes the likening of Kaworu to Shinji all the more tragic. Much of Shinji's life was rife with neglect up until this point. Then he had to get rid of a genuine source of validation.
The love of Kaworu and Shinji is mutual. MC dives into misconceptions of how Kaworu and Shinji's relationship is platonic because it lacks the suggestive closeups of Misato, Rei, and Asuka (it's own can of worms). EOE debunks the platonic bent as well the Rebuilds with the numerous references. There's even a heart shaped tree where Shinji and Kaworu play Quatre Mains!
Anno even states Kaworu as an idealized other.
Tumblr media
Kaworu's proxy status as a father and mother is noted. While Anno uses chichi (father) as a designation for Adam, Kaworu uses hahataru sonzai for Our Mother. This explains why Kaworu stands as judge over Gendo alongside Rei and Yui. This latter of the designations makes sense, given Adam's status as the progenitor for angels.
Kaworu's status as integral to the plot of Eva is especially solidified during Instrumentality. Rei and Kaworu represent the desire to understand the world around and unconditional love, respectively. He, along with Rei, teaches Shinji that if he were to come back physically, AT Fields would exist once more. Pain would exist. People would not know each other fully. And Shinji allows that for mankind, even after knowing this revelation.'
People like Rei and Kaworu can exist, however. But in our lives, our sometimes unforgiving realities, people like that are rare. There are people that love you for being you. There are people that want to comprehend the complexities the world hands us. I hope that one day, you find both.
That we all find both. That too, is why anywhere can be paradise as long as you have that will to live.
All in all, I loved MC's meticulous dissection of Kaworu's character. It's a welcome addition and it was easy to follow along through all of it. I recommend watching it for anyone reading this who has the time. It's some of the most indepth Kaworu analysis i'd seen in the years I'd been in this fandom and I thank MC for the write-up. And I thank you, anon, for redirecting me to this video dissertation.

Re: the 'talk about for hours meme' -- "2. Certain fictional characters : from books or anime, I can give you full essays on them"
Could I have your full essays on Matsumoto and Shinji!! (Feel free to split into two posts if it's weird/too long to do them both in one, haha.)
OUH. MYGOD. This is what I have been waiting for. Yesssss I CAN. Also, I think I will split it into two separate posts, because I want to cover more aspects. So this will only be about Matsumoto Rangiku. But beware, you brought this upon yourself. It will be long af (roughly about 1900 words). I hope it all makes sense!
Also, everything I say is totally my opinion, the way I see them, and the "analysis" (nothing too formal) I made is based on anime only and/or maybe some spoilers (because I don't own any Bleach manga yet😭)
In the beginning, I need to mention that in my opinion (and as I mentioned in a previous post), she is actually a very humane, relatable and complex character. And this is why I like her so much. However, she is, most of the times, underappreciated.
So usually when people are talking about her, they get to mention her her physical appearance, which is normal and is what you do with everyone, but then something interesting happens.
When it comes to her personality, she is often viewed and portrayed as a shallow, superficial and unbothered woman. Kind of the standard beautiful but ignorant woman trope portrayed in most media.
But she is not just a plain character made to fill in some gaps and have a few lines. And while I agree she has a few flaws (that I'll talk about later), I feel like this portrayal of her couldn't be more wrong.
In actuality, she is a very well constructed character, that we subjectively misjudge, because we have certain expectations when we see an architype of fictional universes and forget to look past certain traits. And you might ask "Okay, dude, but what do you mean by that?" Well, let me explain.
But to get even deeper with how much of a complex character she is, as we go further along with the anime, we know that Gin leaves with Aizen. Even since then, we knew something was going on with those two, when he apologized to her. But as it was revealed later, Gin was her childhood friend, the one she even lived with for a while. The first person she ever loved from what I know (not sure if romantically or platonically, but love, none the less). Now, imagine how destroyed she must feel about him leaving with a man that betrayed, used and lied to everyone in their community without any explanation whatsoever. More so, imagine how worried she must be everyday for him, not ever knowing if he'll come back. Imagine how she has to live with this constantly in the back of her mind, and still be a good shinigami and fight with the fear that one day, she might have to fight him. The strength one has to have to be able to continue life with these realizations in mind, every day, without breaking once, is colossal. How mature you have to be adapt to this kind of situation so fast, even if you hate the reality this is bringing you in, is the proof of being not only very emotionally intelligent, but also intelligent overall. And not to mention how she carries this burden seemingly alone, because nobody seems to ever ask her if she's alright or care whatsoever for her problems, probably because of her optimistic, cheery personality.
Firstly, when we initially get to meet her, in the episode of Aizen's "death", we see her restraining Hinamori and getting her to jail, as a good lieutenant would do at the orders of her captain, right? But after that, we witness a conversation those two have, in which we can clearly see that Matsumoto does empathize with Hinamori, telling her she understands how frustrated she is, but she needs to think about her squad and priorities and to not make any allegations (when Hinamori was about to say she knew who "killed" Aizen).
In that small dialogue, we get to understand that not only, is Rangiku very levelheaded, but also she cares about Hinamori enough to tell her it is not her place to make those accusations and she lets to be understood that she will regret saying anything more, and tries to guide her to better priorities. She does everything in a serious, yet not necessarily harsh manner. She feels as many emotions as everyone about what just happened, and yet she thinks about what is best to be done and how to be efficient, while still empathizing with and not blaming Hinamori for anything. And she keeps that attitude towards her even later, in the fake Karakura Town arc, when Hinamori clearly calls Aizen "captain", but Rangiku still has an understanding, yet compassionate and worried attitude towards her (and to be honest, that is more than I would've had for her at that point). That already says so much about her character and moral compass.
Which brings me to the next point. We always see her as being this bright, obnoxious ray of sunshine. Party girl who likes to drink, sometimes a little too much (but I would too in her situation), who's everyone's friend. From hanging out, getting drunk with the boys, or being there for Hitsugaya (she was even the one who told him to be a shinigami in the first place, and made sure to make him understand it would be best for him to do so), to even having a heartfelt conversation with Orihime when she gets jealous and depressed. Rangiku is an optimistic, reliable person who you can have fun with and trust with your heart. But who's there for her the way she is there for others? Because I don't see her talking about any of her personal issues, besides this one exception with Hitsugaya once. So not only is she strong to keep herself composed and with the mind clear, ready to battle anytime, but she is also succeeding in doing so alone, with no support system (that I know of). So she has the power of continuing to battle for what is right and be there for everyone in a very enthusiastic way, with a broken heart that still has room for hope, and with an intelligent mind that still makes room for fun.
Now, everything I have mentioned so far are her positive traits. Of course, she wouldn't have been a very good constructed character if she didn't have any flaws. That's also what makes her even more relatable and humane. But what is again very interesting here, is that her flaws seem to be very much in contrast with her positive traits.
Also, talking about being ready for battle, there is one more point I need to add. Considering everything I mentioned earlier, we also need to talk about how good of a fighter and strategist (not to mention how strong willed) she is.
Remember: she had a portion of her soul stolen (at least that's what I understood) by Aizen! And if we are to recall the encounters she had with arrancars (and fights overall), we can surely say she had some interesting strategic moves, as well as some decent, interesting decisions in battle. So we can only imagine what kind of a fighter she would have become if she had her soul intact. All though I will not dive deeper into this (because I will have to rewatch all of her fights, and even then get into a subject that I'm really not good at), I can definitely say she is not a lieutenant for nothing. She is definitely a capable, devoted and loyal lieutenant, fighter and ally.
We can also see a similar circumstance with her shallow and vain demeanor whenever she talks about shopping and getting nice things. Because we need to remember she grew up poor! And not only that, but she was dying of starvation. When Gin found her, she was on the verge of death. And as she grew, like most kids in Rukongai, she had mostly nothing. So to one extend, I can really understand why, as an adult, she would prefer to spend her money as she likes without any reservations. I think it helps healing her inner child and can also be a coping mechanism that she developed along the years, to help cope with everything she goes through by herself.
When we think about her flaws, we picture in our minds her laziness and how conceited and vain she can be sometimes. We can also talk about how unbothered or easygoing she seems to be in many situations. And her drinking problem (which I am not going to talk about, because in my own balkan view, it doesn't really look like a problem, just that when she parties, she goes hard, and I would too and I get it).
But I found that her laziness is in strong contrast with her strong will to fight and how ready she is for battle anytime. Which is not something a lazy person will do. We have plenty of great characters that can be very intelligent and impressively created, but who are very lazy and find many things (such as fighting) as a "drag" or "nuisance". She could do the same, but she doesn't. Which leads me to believe that it's not laziness per se, it's most likely the boredom and uninteresting facade of doing chores like paperwork. And I see that as fitting to her, because she probably needs strong and intense sensations to fixate on something and not be distracted by her own mind (my opinion).
And even that, I think it really depends on how important her role would be as the responsible person in said situations. Because if you remember the flashbacks of her being a lieutenant under Kurosaki Isshin, she was the one who scolded him for not doing work. Of course, it wasn't like she was working anywhere near the amount Hitsugaya would, in any day, but still more than now. And I think that was exactly because someone had to. It was important for the captain to have someone who would nag him from time to time, so that's what she did. Just like how it is important for Hitsugaya to have a ray of sunshine to cheer him up and get him out of his sometimes-too-serious way.
And sure, she doesn't like being called "old", like most women, and she cares about her looks a lot, but I think that also comes from a place of not knowing or having the privilege of getting to care about those things as child. Which she finally has now, as an adult, and of course she takes advantage of that now and thinks about those things.
With all of this being said, I think the only conclusion here is that Matsumoto Rangiku is a strong, very reliable, smart woman with the emotional intelligence above many other characters (and people) that we get to see usually in fictional universes (or even real life). She is the kind of person I would love to have as a friend, and I wish I could have the honor of being there for her, because she deserves it. With a heart of gold and a personality brighter than the sun, Matsumoto Rangiku is the glue that holds so many things together and is one of the many needed pieces of our Bleach puzzle. And yes, she is also very hot and I would tap that.
And concomitantly, we see her seemingly self-absorbed personality that shows up from that to time and the contrast that makes with how much empathy and devotion she demonstrates.
This made me think of just the way we perceive people sometimes without having the full story on them. Because I think that it may be a misunderstanding of her character.
What I mean by this is that, maybe, we misunderstood those traits, and in reality is just her confidence. A lot of self confidence and care for one's self can be missinterpreted as shallowness if we either don't have the full story, or if that person is not slightly modest in admitting the good things about themselves. Which is an interesting way to see her, that would further demonstrate how cool she is (but considering this hypothesis is only that, a hypothesis, it might just be two contrasting traits she has, which either way, make her an interesting person).
Bonus: this is the song that always reminds me of her for some reason -

I told myself I'd start posting more, and this in particular was something I always wanted to talk about, so yeah..
My last post, which was my first post ever, was about the cinematography and fanfreakingtastic shots that the new seasons have. For this one however, I want to talk about one of my favorite boys, shinji.
Tumblr media
Well, his bankai in particular. All bleach fans and enthusiasts were thrilled when the second cour trailer dropped, introducing his bankai, which has only been shown in the can't fear your own world novels, as well as the mobile game brave souls. Hence, when it was added to the anime, everyone freaked out. Though in my honest opinion, it was very underwhelming in the anime, which is understandable as it was added mainly for fan service. Which is important to take into consideration before I talk about my next point.
The anime's adaptation of his bankai. The way the anime showcased his bankai was pretty weird to me, seeing how it's the same bankai on paper, but it sorta functioned differently in a way, from its predecessors, the novels and the game. When I say different I don't mean they changed what it does, I meant the way his bankai sort of activates and appears is weird.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the novels and the game, the sakashimas, which are identical without a doubt, looks like this (images above). It's clearly has a flower motif, referenced in the novels as a dianthus shaped bankai. Which is all fine and dandy. Flower shaped bankai. It closes with him in it. Everyone else outside that small area he's in is affected and their senses of perception of who is friend and who is foe is manipulated and essentially, reversed. What I want to talk about is how the bankai closes, the dianthus bankai, closing into a sort of flower bud, with shinji inside. So the novels don't illustrate the closed bud part of his bankai, but the game does quite a solid job at it.
Tumblr media
So as shown in the image, it basically wraps itself around shinji, forming a sort of makeshift flower bud, which if you'd draw his bankai out, cut it, and fold it the same way, it would look exactly like this. This might seem irrelevant but stick with me.
Now let's take a look at the anime's showcase of his bankai.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the anime, when he activates it, the pillars come up and close around him, forming this flower bud. The only difference is, look at the bud. That's a complete cocoon. It's covered all sides until the bottom, and even the flower petals are stuck tight together. Which would not make sense at all as to how it's going to open into the revealed part of his bankai. Look at the model of his opened bankai from both the novel and the game, and tell me if you can imagine the anime model opening up into that. Sure it looks like it could with some weird fancy animation, but that doesn't change the fact that there are parts which there's just gaps in between, where there no piece of his bankai, which in the anime it's covered fully.
Sure I agree it looks complete and nice, but knowing how the revealed bankai will look does not do the anime model any justice, as the whole thing just doesn't make sense. There should be gaps of empty spaces where his bankai doesn't have any body, and even the top of his bankai in the anime model looks slightly different. Like my main thought when I saw it when the episode first aired was, ok but how is it going to open now with it being completely covered? And of course the opening of the bud isn't shown. Hell, the entire revealed opened up bankai isn't even shown, at all.
And to further add to this weird choice of look that the anime decided upon, once he activates his bankai in the anime, and the bud closes around him, they show his eye through a gap in the bankai, which of course, should have been there, seeing how some parts of the bankai does not have body at all.
Tumblr media
HOW IS THERE THIS GAP FOR HIM TO LOOK THROUGH?
Like the entire bankai is sealed, so where would this gap even be? Like in the game model, this gap is clearly there. The whole thing just doesn't make sense, but I do see what they were probably going for, a fully closed bud, where there's no gap or access in or out, and seeing how his purple/lavender-ish gas/smoke/fumes? are the crux of how both his shikai and bankai work, maybe the whole idea was for him to be shielded from the fumes, instead of the established area of effect version the novel and the game uses, where as long as he's in the middle circle of the bankai he won't be affected by it. But then again if it is that, then the whole eye looking through the gap thing would make that entire logic void.
I'm sorry if you read this entire thread just for the sake of me being dissatisfied with how the bankai look doesn't make sense, but maybe I just really want to see the revealed open part in the anime, because it definitely won't look the same with the original model, which in another way bugs me as well, as no other bankai look has changed even the slightest in the anime, as opposed to how they looked in the manga. I guess maybe they decided they could take liberties as there wasn't a clear and drawn out image of the closed one by kubo, I mean kubo probably drew the model of the anime bankai as well, so I don't know what to say other than please show his bankai open up and actually animate the entire thing if they ever decide to animate the novels, because the tybw one did not do it justice at all. I mean for gods sake he was up against like 20 plus foot soldiers. He really could have taken them with one eye closed and his shikai alone, as opposed to the hundreds of thousands of ikomikidomoe offsprings he faced in the novels.
Tumblr media
Which also makes me think, how the hell did the others not get affected in the anime, like the seireitei is huge, but it's not that huge. The space hundreds of thousands of hollow type monsters would take up surely is way way way more than what was there in the shakonmaku veil. Well, that's probably not going to be talked about here or at all as I've already spat out too many words at this point, about something most of y'all will find totally ridiculous, so if you made it this far, thanks, and sorry for wasting minutes of your life ;)

Oct - Dec 2023 Devil May Cry News Updates: Peak of Combat, Teasers, Rumours, Etc.
Tumblr media
Happy New Year, everyone! Hope you all had a SSSmokin' SSSexy SSStylin' holiday. Here's hoping this year brings more Devil May Cry goodness. Here are the rest of 2023's news updates on what's happening with Devil May Cry.
1. Capcom is getting stingy about mods. b) So stingy in fact that they're taking down Youtube vids of mods in their games.
2. Gamescom interview about Peak of Combat. b) And more content from the game such as dev notes, gamepad support, new character reveals, official OSTs, and release date.
3. Another Devil May Cry expansion for the mobile game Teppen.
4. Devil May Cry V has sold over 7 million units.
5. A small glimpse on what's in store for the Netflix series.
6. Former Devil May Cry director Hideki Kamiya talks at the Archipel Caravan Festival in Tokyo about DMC1's development, with former Resident Evil director/producer Shinji Mikami (can't find the video, so this link will have to do).
7. Dante's and Nero's face models Adam Cowie and Karlo Baker tease us with a little future Devil May Cry news.
8. Rumours of Dante appearing in Fortnite anytime soon due to a loading screen speculation, and some infamous leaker.
My Thoughts On These Updates:
It's really too bad what Capcom thinks of mods. I get it when it comes to inappropriate eye candy and overpowering everything to make things easy, but they need to realize that mods aren't just about those. Mods are also a way of building a community of like-minded and talented individuals, and they should also think of mods as some form of resume if they're looking for more people to work on their team to make games.
2. It's really cool that the dev team of Peak of Combat got Casey Edwards and Victor Borba to be a part of their OST, and cool what other features are in the game. But it's really too bad on the direction the devs have gone on it. Ads are popping up on their profiles like weeds (especially outrageous ones), they're not very clear with their direction on the game (including their official release dates. I've lost count how many release dates they've had now), and they've pretty much stopped listening to feedback from the fans on what can be improved on it overall. Found a former mod member of the game talking about their negative experience on working with them.
3 and 4. That's cool that Teppen gets another Devil May Cry expansion, and how Devil May Cry V sold more copies.
5. So we've got our first glimpse of Lady, and a little more in the Netflix series. I still have my high curiosities and being cautiously optimistic on what's in store for it. Fingers crossed that it doesn't turn out like Castlevania did after season 1.
6. It's interesting how Kamiya and Mikami left their own companies, and the process of their career journey throughout the years. I wish them luck on their next endeavor.
7. So I guess we may or may not get a Devil May Cry 6 announcement anytime soon?
8. If it's true that Dante will be appearing in Fortnite, that would be cool. But sadly I'm not a Fortnite fan, and him being in the game won't convince me to play it. But I will have no problem seeing what he looks like and how he plays on Youtube.

I think the captain paying for their own damages is a "you break it, you pay it" sort of thing. The budgets are probably given to them by the central 46 and I can see them being a bit stingy about where the money is going. It's also unfair if the money that's being used to pay for the coffee machines would go to pay for some idiot's oopsy daisy instead.
Also, the captains getting their own mansions/homes just made me realize how Aishin divorce jokes are actually pretty real. Aizen moved in to the captain's quarters almost immediately after TBTP. He literally got the house and the job AND the kid.
For context, this is in response to these musings about budget reconciliation meetings!
I just think it’s funny (and punitive) that damages that are an inevitability in their line of work are explicitly NOT part of the budget, not even up to a certain amount. These things could be foreseen and accounted for, but instead they are foreseen and Central 46 is like, “yeah, not our problem.”
I feel like the price of construction in Soul Society is probably really high, so as to distinguish between the varying degrees of nobility and the rank and file other people living within the Seireitei. So like, a banana probably IS 10 dollars; goggles are expensive, but then rebuilding a granary is 99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 kan because fuck you peasants or recently-peasants. So even if you work as Joe Shinigami for 500 years you’d have to be exceptionally savvy to actually be able to build your own house instead of living in your division-provided barracks. Even if you are a captain, if you don’t come from inherited wealth, the giant paycheck you’re earning probably still doesn’t stand up well against the building costs. It’s like the gap between some new money rich guy MySpace engineer making $200,000 a year and the ultra-wealthy who casually buy islands for $2.6 billion on a whim. Or buys Twitter, or whatever. Anyway, I think Komamura is very generous!
I wonder if Living World damage, even apart from trying not to disrupt that world or cause human casualties, is even MORE expensive, because it’s so much more complicated to source rebar and concrete from a human vendor and fix a bunch of people’s memories to get the Karakura Town Council to fix that massive sinkhole in their public park that Appeared One Day. Because it doesn’t seem like they make use of magical means of fixing buildings. Nanao mentioned “the men” getting good at fixing things and it was just like, dudes with hammers, LOL.
I think budgets can work both ways—either it’s handed down, or you develop something that can get approved—but it’s more entertaining to me if each Division submits a budget for the Central 46 to approve or deny, because 1) a large number of the officers we’ve seen have no business being in charge of this kind of work, bankai/shikai or not, and 2) it adds to the tedium of their days. And I suppose it does align with the notion that these divisions are intended to operate autonomously, with the Captain exercising relatively complete autonomous power over how their division works, minus the sometimes-interventions of the Central 46 police state. I bet multiple captains have tried to create a line item for damages and it gets denied every time.
I would 1000% read the fanfic of Aizen moving into Shinji’s captain’s quarters and immediately changing all the decor. There’s just a bunch of Shinji’s random stuff sitting outside at the street. Aizen holds a housewarming party and everyone makes strained small talk about interior decorating and furniture trends over cocktails and small hors d’oeuvres.

I WROTE SOMETHING 🎉
HERE'S A CRUMB OF MY SHINJI FIC
You were suspended in time, back against the ground and face towards the endless night sky. Only the crescent moon above returned your gaze, almost pitying as the air whipped against your face. The white garbs you wore flapped, almost tearing off of your skin as the sky shrunk.
What was happening?
The moon heard your unspoken question, and shined its cool light against your face, revealing the balcony you once stood upon. Your eyes fell upon a figure, but before you could make out their face, a book blocked your view.
It floated above you, its pages flapping around like a broken plea. You reached up and grabbed it, holding it tight as you met your fate together.
Your back crashed against the sand, shadowed by the kingdom so large that you, too, looked like a spec of sand within an endless desert.
Maybe you would fall in, and accept your fate as a small grain of sand. Closing your eyes, the air was torn from your lungs. It burned.
However, even as your head rang like a bell as it smacked against the sand, all you could hear were the words you heard not even moments ago.
You didn’t recognize the muffled voice, but you remembered what they said. Yes– just moments ago you stood upon the balcony of the unforgiving kingdom, staring at the endless sea of sand, holding the book you grasped now to your chest, as someone appeared behind you. Before you could turn around, something hit your head, sending you off of the balcony.
Their words seemed almost cynical now as you passed out.
“It’s time to wake up.”

BLEACH: The Thousand Year Blood War Ep 16 Reactions and Thoughts
Overall reaction:

Another late reaction post, but considering the next episode is airing today, I had to get this out before then...also, there was no way I was doing this reaction post without gifs from this episode!
If I was blown away last week, I have lost my footing this week. OH. MY. GOD! There's was way too much good stuff this week, I don't know where to start.
Highlights:
Momo's cameo: SHE'S BAAAAAACK…for ten seconds. I'll take what I can get! What's happening with Ichigo: I mentioned my theory in the last episode reaction that Ichigo is going to the Reio's past and this is all likely a test to see if he can be as strong as Reio to take his place as part of Kyouraku's plan. Well, it looks like that's basically what's happening. He's getting visions of Reio's life and we even got the multiple irises. Is this a sign of him simply seeing into Reio's past, or is it a sign he has the potential to become the next Soul King? Toshiro vs Cang Du and the lead up: this was just top tier! Form the music, the voice acting, and the animation, it was a beautiful adaption. Seeing Toshiro's hollowfied bankai was a moment for me, because I'll forget how I reacted to seeing it for the first time in the manga all those years ago. As a Toshiro fan, seeing him struggle, especially when Rangiku was thrown down in front of him, and he was helpless to even crawl over to her, was heartbreaking.

Then, to see him rise up again, with a form that looks this cool, and to take down the one that had harmed both him and Rangiku, it's one my favourite moments from the arc. Now here I am watching it ANIMATED (for, like three minutes, but who cares?!). And not just animated, but voiced. Romi Park couldn't have done a better job, and whoever thought to sync Toshiro and Hyourinmaru's voices when Hyourinmaru deserves a raise. That moment gave me the shivers, and it adds to the reveal. And just look at him!

I absolutely love how the ice has been coloured, and the small particles falling from his bankai is such a good touch. The conclusion of this fight had me sighing sadly, because I know where this goes for Toshiro and Rangiku. It was sad enough to see him stumbling and then collapsing trying to get to Rangiku, but then knowing that's Giselle's shadow and what she's about to do to him...I am both dreading and excited for zombie Hitsugaya. So then, this begs the question of will Toshiro make another appearance in this arc. The first arc adapted volumes 55 to 61 more or less, and this arc is still volume 62 if I'm not mistaken? Zombie Hitsugaya first appears in volume 65, so my guess is we will be getting an adaption of his fights against Ikkaku, Yumichika, and Mayuri in this cour. The excitement is real everyone! Shinji's shikai and bankai: the man of the hour. Fifth division's best captain. The fashion icon. The dork who spells everything backwards. The spin master himself. Shinji Hirako is here and he got his bankai animated. I knew it was coming, I had screamed during the trailer when I saw it was going to be included as part of the arc in a small way, but I still screamed when I saw and heard him activate it. When I read it in Can't Fear Your Own World, I knew I needed to see this animated, and the team behind the anime has made that happen with flying colours. Would it have been better to see him use this ability against a massive army? Of course! But the emonstration of it here was still amazing, and like with Toshiro's fight, the combination of the animation, colouring, music, and Shinji's voice actor made this scene AMAZING.

They make Shinji look like a freaking tank here (and he deserve it considering how the rest of this arc goes for him). Then there's the animation for his shikai, which was also just *chef's kiss*

Sui Feng gets her bankai back: I'm not a fan of Soi Fon, but even I have to admit this scene was great. Just look at this explosion, it's epic!

Mayuri the Christmas tree continues: HIS SUIT/COSTUME CAN CHANGE COLOUR?! HE REALLY IS A CHRISTMAS TREE! Shuhei, Ikkaku, and Yukichika vs Mask De Masculine: in my initial reaction, I said Sajin appeared the battle earlier than he did in the manga. My mistake, he actually does appear at this point in Shinji vs Bambietta, I had just forgotten about it. What IS early though is Shuhei, Ikkaku, and Yukichika's battle again Mask De Masculine. I'll admit it here and now that Mask is one of the few Sternritter I don't like. I found him annoying the manga, and so far, the anime hasn't really changed my opinion of him. So when I saw him appear in this episode, I cringed a little. I thought the anime wasing going to come back to him and just show he'd defeated Shuhei, Ikkaku, and Yumichika off screen like it happened in the manga. I was pleasently surprised to see this was not the case, and that we actually get to see this fight. Yes, it's going to end with the three of them defeated, but it's still great to see them in combat, showing off their skills and getting some good banter in. If nothing else, at least Hisagi gets to look cool for a couple of minutes:

Why did Yumichika get a Shin'eiyaku?!: It the question that's got the fandom scrambling for answers, and I honestly didn't notice he got one the first time I saw the episode XD
Overall, what an episode! We got at least two iconic moments here, and they happened for two of my faves! I have high expectations for the next episode, considering Momo will finally get an appearance that's more than a minute long (I hope)!

Crossovers are weird, right?
So, back in 2014, there was a small crossover between Transformers and Neon Genesis Evangelion that was headlined by an Optimus Prime decked out in the colors of the Evangelion Unit-01. This release was supplemented by a four-part prose story where Starscream apparently merges with the Angel Sachiel and Prime, realizing that the EVA has a life-force within it (assumed to be Shinji Ikari), scans the EVA to grow in size to use its power to defeat "Angel"-scream, and NERV thanks him by giving him a trailer/battle station of their own design.
A few years later, in 2018, the anime Transforming Bullet Train Robot Shinkalion had protagonist Hayato Hayasugi travel to a parallel world where NERV collaborated with the Shinkansen Institute to create their own Shinkalion units in place of EVAs, leading to an alternate version of Shinji showing up piloting the Shinkalion 500 TYPE EVA. Shinji would then make a few appearances in the series afterwards, even appearing in the feature film of the anime that also feature an 11-year old pilot named Hatsune Miku and a snow monster assuming the form of f**king Godzilla.
...who, by the way, once existed in the same universe as the Transformers due to both properties being licensed by Marvel Comics back in the day. Oh, and let's not forget to mention the NERV-Made Anti-G Weapon, a version of MechaGodzilla designed by Metal Gear artist Yoji Shinikawa as part of an official collaborative project between NGE and Godzilla. And that's not even counting the 4D film attraction that debuted the Shin Godzilla version of King Ghidorah.
