Chapter 2 Beta Update~
--Nearly all of Ch2 is available, EXCEPT: The "America" backstory when talking with Lottie (it's just half finished). Overall around ~22k words added, and a few thousand to Chapter 1.
--Reworked the Sex/Gender/Gender Presentation System.
--New and Revised MC Dialogue to Ch1, depending on what Occupation you choose. Not all has been changed, more planned later in the month.
--Various typo fixes, small re-writes and bug fixes.
I wanted to get more done, but alas ><;; 🙏🏽 some IRL came up that i really need to deal with. BUT! I managed to get Ch2 from beginning to end! I hope yall will enjoy the last half of Ch2, I'm very happy with it overall! :"))))

but i think it’s important to realize it’s ok to get rid of friends (or even family) that mentally drain you.

#em draws stuff#hornblower#william bush#horatio hornblower#first and foremost! sorry for melting bush's face off in this image#but for a bit more context this is because I had the idea that a hornblower story based in 'the steadfast tin soldier' would be interesting#so here we've got pewter-cast model bush and paper theatre guy hornblower (and things are not going well for them!)#this one was an interesting challenge since I wanted bush to look like the metal was sort of melting out from under his paint#and then hornblower's paper hasn't quite caught alight yet but is starting to char at the very edges of him and where he's touching bush#both of them are much more complex designs than I'd originally been planning for (bush has got ball-and-socket joints and all...)#(the original original plan was that I would learn pewter casting and make him Real. as you can see I did not do that.)#but hey I'm pleased with how they turned out in the end! this took me three sharpe episodes to draw :|#(eleven episodes in and I think it made me weird in the head so I think I will slow down for the time being! too much riflery!)#aaaaaanyway. I don't know if I'll ever write anything about this idea so I'm releasing it into the wild if anyone else likes it#part of this was. an excuse to put some sequins on hornblower yes. fellow should sparkle a little more often!

tv and film is so formulaic nowadays that seeing spiderverse have a story with authentic-feeling characterisation basically makes me want to cry.
#atsv#like you know how a decent chunk of the movie is dedicated to developing miles' relationship with his parents#and to be honest. the pacing in that part very noticablely slows down from the pace it was at in the first bit with gwen#however#not once was i mad about it#because it was filled to the brim with good shit#also#narratively#it only exists to make the threat of miles losing his dad all the more poignant (and also rio might die next movie so. that too.)#HOWEVER#because of how excellent the dialogue is#and because of the careful foundations laid by the first movie#it doesnt come across as 'obligatory making-you-care-about-miles'-parents scene'#like it absolutely would if it was some netflix original or whatever#do you know what i mean??? once you get to a certain point in ur life its very easy to identify why a scene exists#and so its such a goddamn breath of fresh air to be able to recognise that but not feel exhausted/bored by it#it is the furthest thing from hamstrung and i am so so grateful#atsv spoilers#em is waiting for her spider bite#thunder rambles
