Eeth Koth's daughter as a grown up
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is my version of Eeth Koth's daughter and how she would have grown. We only saw her as baby in the Darth Vader comics but even today we don't know her fate. Most probably she was raised by the inquisitors and indoctrinated by their beliefs but after the fall of the Empire she realized that she was manipulated and used as a weapon. She joined a more peaceful life as a Jedi after learning about her father's story and the old jedi order.

Hi gffa! I understand that you're a smart SW person and probably have already answered this somewhere but you have a lot of essays and I don't Tumblr all that good so; d'you know if there's a canon reason anywhere why Sith eyes turn yellow? Like is it just a 'we want to make our bad guys Obvious and Dramatic' or is there an actual in-universe reason for it. Ta very much in advance for the answer!
Hi! For a long, long time, I had just kind of thrown my hands up and attributed it to Rule of Drama Lords/artistic license, but I think this quote from George Lucas is probably the best explanation we have: "It happens when you become particularly evil. They go back to normal when you’re sort of in remorse about all the evil that you’ve done. (…) But if you’re really evil, then in an evil moment, when you’re really angry and steam is coming out of your ears, your eyes turn yellow." --George Lucas It's probably not just anger, it's possibly whenever you're deep in the dark side, the anger or fear or suffering, but it sounds like it's when someone is being particularly awful, when they're deep in the dark side (as using the Force in anger = the dark side), their eyes will turn yellow. Which is interesting to note that Dooku's eyes never turn yellow and why Anakin's are yellow for awhile on Mustafar, but flicker back and forth, sometimes they're blue, sometimes they're yellow. I'd still consider it primarily a storytelling indicator more than hard worldbuilding, but I do very much like this, especially since I've always thought of them as infection yellow, that there's poison welling up in the body and it rots the way you look at the world when you're particularly evil and deep in the dark side.

I always wondered why Count Dooku did not have Sith eyes. I saw a video that says the reason is becuase he was a Grey Sith and was in control of himself. I’m unsure about this but it’s an interesting take. And it’s the first time I heard of the term Grey SIth especially in the comments section.

“The yellow eyes..I’ve heard legends about them before,” The Jedi Master recalled, “The legends say they belong to the Sith, users of the Dark Side. However, the Sith have been extinct for a millennium. But if this girl knows her powers, then it’s possible they’ve just been hiding under our noses for all these years..”

Yellow is an interesting color choice for Sith eyes. Red eyes are quite common for fictitious "bad guys," but I don't think I've seen yellow much, except for Sith. It's cool for two reasons:
One is that yellow links nicely to the whole "fear-anger-hatred" thing because of the classic association between the color yellow and cowardice.
What my nerd brain finds is cooler, though, is that yellow can also mean danger in the natural world. Like bees, wasps, etc. So Sith are following a sort of Müllerian mimicry: looks like something that can hurt you, and it will. Sith are totally the yellowjackets of the Force user world. (Either that, or yellowjackets are the Sith of the wasp world....)
