Characters That Have Never/Hardly Interacted In Canon That I Think Would Be Friends
I love how we see friendships in the series like the gang, Rosita, Buster, and Gunter, Johnny and Meena, and the Moon theatre trio. But I wish we saw more so... tada!! Here's a list of characters who I think would be friends with little to no explanation!
----------------------------------------
Rosita and Marcus: I headcanon that Rosita was Johnny's foster mom while Marcus was in jail so the two got to know each other that way. And now they are just best friends who stress over Johnny and come up with crazy inventions together. Like the engineer Rosita and the mechanic Marcus would have so much in common it would be awesome.
Stan and Gunter: The energetic person of their respective friend groups, I just know these two would constantly be causing chaos and enabling their nieces and nephew to cause utter havoc.
Nooshy and Ash: Ok ok ok, hear me out here. Hip Hop dancer friend to the grungy Rock singer. That dynamic would be adorable and awesome. Also, they seem to be around the same age and I feel like their personalities would mesh together really well. Plus, they were friends in that one promo thing for the Mario movie (I think? idk) and now they are besties in my mind.
Marcus and Clay: I feel like these two said nothing to each other for like the first eight meetings, then promptly trauma-dumped about their late partners to each other, and then never spoke of it again. Now they just keep in contact about Buster's stupid ideas and their kids (Johnny and Ash respectively).
Eddie and Barry: They'd be video game buddies!!! Eddies loves video games and I headcanon that Barry does too so you just know they team up online and like completely sweep tournaments. Also, they are both the logical ones of their current friend groups so I feel like they could bond over that.
Ryan and Mizuki: I feel like these two would just be a really good personality mesh for two very energetic and extroverted friends. Also, as a former principal dancer and now troupe leader, Ryan has a lot of networking and social media experience so I feel like they could bond over that since Mizuki seems to be in charge of that for the New Moon Theatre Troupe.
Rosita, Marcus, and Aamanee: One, I'm giving Meena's mom a name. Her name is now Aamanee, ok, cool, moving on. Two, I just want the three parents of the theatre trio to hang out. Like Ash is Rosita's adopted daughter at this point and all three parents are bound to be stressed about what Buster is dragging their kids into now.
Ryan and Suki: Mainly, again, this is purely from my headcanon that Suki took Ryan's mom's dance class as a kid and literally has known him since he was born, so the two are pretty good friends. Suki would be the tired older cousin that Ryan, a ball of extroverted energy, drags to events to "have fun".
Nana and Clay: I think these two definitely know each other from when they were younger and ran into each other at a ton of celebrity events so now they are friends who gossip and drink tea together. That's it. That's all they do on like a weekly basis. It's funny and adorable.

I’m still practicing drawing her, so of course, she’s going to look off!
Meena will probably never learn to say no to Buster because she knows she has to be respectful to everyone, but it’s fun to pretend!

It's payday! What does each person do with their money first thing?
Oooh this is a fun one!
Johnny: Generally, he takes a cut of his money and has that money for spending on hanging out together. Snacks, drinks, whatever everyone happens to like. If it is someone's birthday, that's what he uses it on. Johnny likes to bring everyone to restaurants though.
Ash: Ash is not the spend-y type, but she does know how to manage money smartly. She leaves 30% purely to save for the future, and the rest she is free to use on whatever happens to catch her eye - which is generally the latest albums from her favorite band, new guitar picks, or cool movies she happened to find at Roc's.
Nooshy: She spends at least half her money on ice cream and treats. Which... is understandable. She's a street kid, so anything sweet was really foreign to her until she met Johnny. The only candy she ever got before then was the occasional fruit chew or bubblegum someone might throw to her when she danced.
Porsha: Ultimate Spender. She goes straight out and will drag someone along with her to go spend money on anything and everything she and whoever she brings happens to like. Her paychecks don't last super long, but she lives at the theater with Buster so no worries.
Meena: She saves some, putting it away for later use, and the rest goes to new ingredients and baking tools so she can always try out the latest new recipes her mom pulls up on pinterest. She loves her baking so much :)
Gunter: Let's be honest, we probably don't want to know. Could be unitards or woman's underwear with this guy. Or even bars. I mean, have you seen the end of that Sing Merry Christmas from Moon Theater video? He's basically naked at the end!
Rosita: Generally, she spends it on food and grocery supplies and whatever she needs to feed her family. Family comes first with Rosita. It's very sweet.
Calloway: (because of course I'm putting in my favorite lion of all time). He saves it. He saves his money, only spending what he absolutely has to. That isn't to say he doesn't have a soft spot for the theater gang - specifically Ash - and he WILL get gifts for them - especially her.

Four Reasons I Don't Support Suki x Marcus
Tumblr media
There is another Sing ship involving the Saluki which I can't stop thinking about or continuing to be tortured by: shipping her with Johnny's dad!
These words cannot escape my mind from the video of Illumination taking risks: "The company is 'going to have to evolve. We can have a commitment strategy to movies as a cinema-going experience and we can layer other business on top of that. There are topics of conversation right now that are very relevant to what we're doing in the future that get into areas that potentially might not please everyone. I think you have to honor the stories that you tell, honor the choices that your filmmakers make, and you have to be willing to not have everybody pleased all the time."
And since high-grossing franchises are constantly milked, that means they'll need new stories and new material, including ones that fans aren't doing yet. Plus, as Illumination insists on animal behavior, it makes sense for a gentle giant like a gorilla to be protective towards a Saluki, one of the most timid dog breeds of all, so that's one "open-minded/I'm not a judgy bastard who should be sentenced to damnation" perspective, and yet, I can't stand the idea of them being romantic partners any more than her and Jimmy being romantic partners.
Here are the four reasons:
1. They've too big an age gap
Okay, Suki is either in her 20's or early 30's, and Marcus...well, most of the characters' ages here aren't clear, but I assume he's in his mid-40's or 50's. And I realize that Sing lacks pairings with the man being two-three decades older than the woman and "HAS TO BE relevant to real life in all ways", but do they really need that? And yes, Johnny could have a stepmom in his life, but does it have to be a woman close to HIS age?
2. They lack the chemistry
Seriously, who thinks Chelsea Peretti and Peter Serafinowicz would have any chemistry?
3. It spells old-fashioned stereotype
I know strong men would be a good shoulder for tough women to be there as a shoulder and make them feel stronger and make them feel more human, but does it have to imply the strong man is as strong as one of those weight-lifters at the circus? Skinny guys can be strong in some way too. And a lot of women today aren't interested in beefcakes, which brings me to this reason:
4. It destroys her better judgement
In her first few minutes of the film, she comes off as this pretty-dresser who comes from the squeaky clean big city and is hard to please (FOR ENTERTAINMENT, btw!) and because she's a lackey for someone muscular and well-dressed (Jimmy) and is loyal throughout the film, due to dogs being loyal, until she betrays him, everyone just automatically assumes she only likes high-quality individuals as much as high-quality shows. Shows and individuals are two different things. Why throw it away other than just to make Ash, Meena, Rosita, Nooshy, and Porsha the girls you want to like that aren't picky?
She has potential to be liked by someone not taller than her and for her to reasonably like them back. That's realistic and not as superficial.
And I can stand the idea of Marcus finding someone to replace Johnny's late mom, just not if it means destroying the mentioned potential Suki had with other characters, or better yet, maybe not have Johnny's mom dead after all. Incidentally, what is it with Illumination and not having characters' spouses present? Marcus, Jimmy Crystal, Clay Calloway (that I can excuse), and we cannot completely conclude that Buster's mom is dead too.
I seriously hope Illumination doesn't force them into being so. I can handle it being done in fanfictions, but not in actual canon because that means they'd have to be canon in every universe (like how Mickey and Minnie are a couple in every universe and so on with other cartoon couples).

kiSing 2 movie thoughts!!! finally got around to watching it on netflix and immediately got to Thinking. thank u chase matoitech for wanting to hear my thoughts lol
readmore bc it’s probably gnna be long, am gnna try to chunk it out into paragraphs for ease of reading
i was honestly surprised they went with a sequel! the first movie wrapped up pretty damn well and i think it’s more indicative of the movie industry’s need for more profit that they made a second one.
buster always kinda annoyed me - he’s not someone i would like to be around, he’s pushy and always endangers other people for his own reasons. he takes suki’s dislike of them to be a very personal thing, and while i think what they did in the end was cool, i also think it was buster’s need to prove suki wrong and make himself even more well known than he already was.
i do like that he and nana settle into an amicable relationship tho!! she was always one of my fav designs and her outfits r always so cool
they don’t bring back eddie or mike, which i wasn’t surprised about for mike but i figured eddie would at least show up once or twice??
the meat of the movie is in the prep and final execution of the show ofc, and they pepper in PLENTY of conflict, side characters, and tension to keep things interesting. buster has conflict with jimmy crystal, suki, rosita, clay calloway, even johnny tbh!! not to mention other characters. ill mainly stick to the actual singers, bc i prefer those characters
not a super big fan of johnny having a cockney accent + dad being a criminal + unable to dance “properly” but idk. that fucking monkey was a bitch tho i hated him. klaus kicknklober or whatever. him meeting nooshy (???) and being able to actually learn to dance how he wanted to was cool, bc unlike rosita and gunter, johnny doesn’t dance/learn to dance in the first movie, so the continuity was a nice touch. i also liked that they just let nooshy and johnny be buds and didn’t try to force a romance or something stupid like that. however that might be a weird kid’s movie species thing where they only match up pairs of animals that are the same species.
also. the tiger johnny had to do the fight dance scene with ? totally into him.
rosita being a hard working mother and also having a career and having her main role taken by porsha was a shit move on buster’s part. like i get that he had to appease jimmy crystal but like jesus. way to spit in rosita’s face. esp dressing her in the GREEN costume and having porsha “defeat” her, like damn. that was HARSH. esp since buster wrote that role into the play (performance?) JUST FOR ROSITA. like damn. and her crying in the hotel bathroom and having to ask her husband for space made me sad. she’s just trying to keep everything afloat :( i did like that although rosita was upset she wasn’t ever petty to porsha, though i dont think they interacted enough for it to even be possible.
SPEAKING OF PORSHA. dude she definitely has daddy issues. they barely brush on it but the way he treats her is so bad, it’s not like the typical dad who dotes on and infantilizes daughter regardless of how much she cries, jimmy crystal got sick of shit REAL quick with her as soon as it interfered with his image and immediately dropped her. like yeah obviously stupid spoiled teenager but also she is a kid. idk if they have canon ages beyond teenager and adult tbh. i wish they had fleshed out her and her dads relationship a bit more too - obviously theres teenage rebellion there and jimmy crystal has clear issues with “being humiliated“ and all that and he’s so concerned w that he throws his daughter under the bus. also what happened to her mom?????
meena having to deal with that yak made me pissed off too, buster clearly STILL doesn’t know what kind of person meena is and who she would be comfortable singing with, but i guess they wrote out the kiss so that makes it better. i like that alfonso is like smooth with the moves and meena runs into the glass door with the ice cream. and that the orangutang coworker of alfonsos is clearly rooting for them (watched meena get ice cream 4 times trying to talk to him and nudges alfonso to talk to her during the show) i did like that her romance wasn’t super in ur face and her challenge wasn’t stage fright again but this time just a teenager problem. i feel like porsha and meena couldve had a moment together where they meet in the middle and learn something from the other (confidence and maturity for meena and porsha respectively)
ms crawley was an absolute champ in this movie i love her so much. queen of getting shit done and also her visor is so cute ^_^ i felt so bad when she got paintballed. she also has great music taste
ASH AND CALLOWAY BOTHERED ME SO MUCH !!!!!!!!!!!!! ash being a solo artist was awesome and totally in character and even her being a calloway fan makes sense kinda ? but there was no moment in the movie where i felt like they had a genuine connection or moment of realization. ash just bugged him when he was very literally setting a boundary (electric fence ??? paintballs ??? firecrackres???? ALL THE SIGNS ????) and pushed him to perform again bc buster made an empty promise he had to badger some old man into agreeing to to fulfill. yeah ash plays him a song but like. her knowing his wife died and was his muse didn’t feel very emotional or give her a leg up over anyone else who knew who he was. she just was there and then calloway changed his mind. i also didnt understand the tea scene, whether or not there was significance to that or not. if i were to flesh out their characters more i would build a father daughter relationship between them tho, i feel like that would be cool. but it just felt like ash was forcing calloway to deal with things just so they could use his name for something instead of actually wanting to play w him for musical reasons. he didnt do anything particularly special in the performance except show up. idk he looked cool tho but i felt like they forgot to animate his tail ?? or it was placed weird on his back? i liked the white mane tho
they also just fucking fridged his wife which is bullshit. it makes sense story wise but also they could have easily made it something else. and then bc we aren’t given much mroe detail than “she was his muse she died of an illness (unidentified but we know it was bad bc she was in a wheelchair)” we have no way of connected with his story or empathizing with him about her death. it’s literally just “she died :(”. just seems like a cop out and a sexist one at that. then when she comes back spiritually so he can overcome his grief and perform it felt so hollow and contrived, there was nothing really emotionally charged about that scene. idk it just was lame.
also. for a kids movie i was surprised they showed buster almost getting killed and made that as explicit as they did ????? like damn.
johnny being able to call his dad and their ex-gang (just 2 other guys rlly) as protection was kinda cute tho, im glad their relationship got all worked out and stuff.
klaus literally trying to humiliate johnny in front of the entire crowd was a little scary too. i wasnt expecting such an in-your-face confrontation like that, but i like that it gave johnny a chance to freestyle and that the other dancers recognized that the teacher was being unfair to johnny and joined in with nooshy’s drumming. sky full of stars is also just a great song, i rlly love it!!
overall, an ok movie. i think they had wayyy too much going on to give each story the time it needed to reach their full potential, but the songs were good and i had fun watching it! which is rlly all that matters i guess. just wish they could spend mroe time fleshing out characters and stuff but when your cast gets that big your story becomes very plot driven very quickly and you stop being able to give everyone a fair chance on character development and stuff.

Don't Speak part 3:
Rosita, Ash and Nooshy all realize that something is up with Johnny
-
"Have any of you noticed that something is up with Johnny ?" Nooshy asked, sipping some water as she, Ash and Rosita watched Johnny practice with Meena onstage.
"Depends on what you mean ?" Ash asked, turning to look at Nooshy.
"Ever since Riley came on board the other day, he's been kinda...sad." Nooshy said.
"I see it too." Rosita said. "When Riley comes and clears the stage, I see him just...staring at him and his eyes look so sad but he still tries to smile."
"Well, should we say something ?" Ash asked. "To Johnny ? Or to Riley ? Because I thought they were friends but I never see Riley speak to or even look at Johnny."
"I sense some unresolved tension between them." Nooshy said. "But I think someone should talk to Johnny first." She said, turning to look at Rosita. "Someone with a warm nature, a kind heart and motherly vibes."
"Oh I don't know..." Rosita said, rubbing her arm. "What if it's personal ?" Rosita
"Come on Rosita, if anyone can get Johnny to open up, it's you !" Ash encouraged. "Just catch him after practice and talk to him !"
Rosita had to think about it. Would Johnny even be willing to talk to her ? It was worth a shot. She sighed.
"Alright, I'll do it."
-
"Hey, Johnny, wait up !" Rosita said, catching up to Johnny just as he was about to leave. Johnny turned away from the door to face Rosita.
"Oh, hey Rosita." Johnny said, giving her a smile. "Is there something you need ?"
"Is it alright if I steal a moment of your time ?" Rosita asked. Johnny nodded.
"Of course." He said. "Are you okay ? Do you need anything ?"
"Actually, I want to talk about you." Rosita said. Johnny immediately got a look of worry on his face.
"Oh no, it's nothing bad, it's just...I've just noticed that you're acting different and you look kind of sad and I was wondering if you needed someone to talk to." Rosita said, giving Johnny a reassuring look.
Johnny avoided her eyes, before he exhaled deeply.
"Fine but.... only because I know you won't judge and please promise me that you won't tell anyone." Johnny said, giving Rosita a hopeful look. Rosita nodded, immediately throwing away all plans to tell Ash and Nooshy. Johnny took a seat on the floor, back against the door, Rosita sitting next to him, ready to lend an ear.
"Well... I brought Riley here as a favor for my dad but it's... it's actually been a while since I talked to him, the last time we talked, we had a fight." Johnny said. "Thing is, we were actually really close growing up, our mums knew each other when we were in the womb, before then even, and we were born around the same time in the same hospital, our birthdays are only a week apart, so we were thick as thieves even as infants..." He tried to relax and continue on. "We grew up together, we shared our birthday parties with each other, we looked out for each other, he was there when my mum died and I was there when his parents went through a divorce and his mom left the country."
"Oh wow..." Rosita said in astonishment. "You two were really close so... why did you have a fight ?"
Johnny looked Rosita in the eyes.
"If I tell you, you must keep it to yourself, this cant get out for anything." Johnny said, a serious yet worried look on his face. "I haven't told anyone this before, ever, I need to know if I can trust you with this, Rosita."
"You can trust me, Johnny." Rosita said, with a nod. "Cross my heart, hope to die, stick a needle in my eye."
Johnny sighed and closed his eyes.
"Alright... it happened our senior year of high school." Johnny started. "It was the start of the grade and Riley an' me were skipping gym class and we hung out in the empty choir room 'cus he knew I loved to sing and he always encouraged me to sing and because of that.... I had a massive crush on Riley." He said. "I didn't think he'd feel the same but for some reason on that day, I was encouraged to try but I couldn't say my feelings so...I sang them."
"What did you sing ?" Rosita asked, curiously.
"One of his favorite songs." Johnny said with a small smile. "Well I know that getting you alone isn't easy to do." He sang softly. "With the exception of you, I dislike everyone in the room and I don't wanna lie, but I don't want to tell you the truth, Get the sense that you're on the move and you'll probably be leaving soon, so I'm telling you." Johnny paused, to quickly regain himself, feeling a sense of overwhelming emotion but he couldn't stop the dam from bursting. He felt tears fall from his eyes as he continued to sing.
"Stop the world 'cause I wanna get off with you.... Stop the world 'cause I wanna get off with you..."
"Oh Johnny..." Rosita said in a comforting tone as she rubbed his arm. "Then what happened ?"
"He felt the same and we kissed in the choir room and we were happy till the end of the year...." Johnny said, sniffling. "Then he wanted to come out as gay for graduation and wanted me to do it too but then...I got scared. I broke up with him the week before graduation and it was a really messy argument, almost got physical...after that, we stopped talking to each other, and never spoke or saw each other after that...and now he hates me...because I'm the coward who broke his heart..."
Johnny then broke down into tears, shoulders shaking as he started to sob softly, burying his face in his hands. The emotional dam he built to seal in his feelings he had towards Riley had finally broken after all of these years.
"I-It's not like I don't love him, After all these years, I still love him, but he hates me ! All 'cos I was afraid !"
Rosita didn't know what to say. She stood up and hugged Johnny, Johnny leaning into her as he continued to weep.
All she could do was hug him and wait for him to let it all out.

Some random head-canons in my Sing 2 fanfic: Johnny
Ok, Johnny is the type of guy that loves interaction, but also loves privacy. Depending on the situation, he can change his mindset pretty quickly. One thing he rarely talks about, or even mentions, are his panic attacks. It started happening back when his dad gets thrown in jail, and practically disowns Johnny. When Johnny gets out of the Jail facility or station, he basically just started hyperventilating, and started having an episode on the street. Some people tried helping him, but he ran away to home before they could do anything. Now in Sing 2, it rarely happens, it only happens now when, he gets a nightmare of being disowned again, in which his dad tries to comfort and reassure him that’s never going to happen. Or when Johnny is in a immense deal of stress.(aka, the after dance practice in Sing 2)
Next is living situation, before the first Sing movie, he had a little room in his dad’s house/garage, while his dad slept in his office like Mr.Moon, but he actually had a bed. The living room was a combination of the kitchen, dining area, and living room. While Barry and Stan had their own little shared house that’s not too far from them. When Johnny needed to find a place stay since his was in jail, he tried to stay in the house but knew he couldn’t for long. And so he decided to go to Meena for help, as he tries to ask if she knows anyone that can let him stay for a while. In which, she offers her home(with her mom and grandparents, permission).
And when Johnny got there the first time, he was completely accepted by the family. After living there a while Meena’s Mom and Grandma teached Johnny how to cook and take care of himself, while her grandpa taught him some valuable life lessons and advice. At first, Meena’s family thought Johnny and Meena were dating, but were immediately corrected saying Johnny was gay(mhm yess he issss) and Meena only saw Johnny as her brother.
Now his attire, I feel like Johnny doesn’t care much for his appearance, like he has multiple of the same t-shirt and stuff. But when it’s a special occasion, he would go all out on what he’s dressing. He would probably wear the same thing in summer or in winter, but in winter he just wears a scarf with his usual clothes. In which everyone in the theatre group questions, on how he’s actually warm.
For relationships, he pretty much is friends with everyone in the group and thinks of them as his other family. Meena, him, and Ash have sibling energy, with Gunter being the cool uncle, Rosita being the mom of the friend group, Buster being the dad of the group (don’t worry I don’t ship Rosita and Moon) and ms crawly being the oblivious but hard working grandma

‘Entering Glamour World after marriage and two kids was risky but I was determined’ – Priyamvada Singh
30th Oct, 2023 I Richa Devesar I Filmyy People
Tumblr media
Thinking about a career change at the age when you have reached a certain position professionally as well as personally and on the top of it when you are a married woman and a mother of two! Not very often, we get to hear this!! Basically, we are so engrossed in living life in our so-called Safe Zone that most of us can’t even think of taking this risk, let alone doing it, for the simple reason that  we are scared and the doubt of ‘what if i fail’ makes this (career) shift all the more difficult. But when Priyamvada got in to this situation, instead of thinking about failing she said to herself ‘what if i fly?’ She went ahead with this conviction and within just one week of sharing her portfolio, she was signed for a movie called Gone Kesh, wayback in 2018.
After doing MBA, B.Ed and PhD in English Literature and teaching for over 10 years, Priyamvada Singh had guts to try her luck in the glamour world at the age of 35. She is currently playing Farha in Katha Ankahee and Sushma Bua in Do Chutki Sindoor. It must not have been an easy ride for someone who had no connections in the industry. And the fact that with less than 5 years in the glamour World, this vivacious and cool lady has done lot of  interesting work, makes her journey all the more interesting. Let’s get to know how she did it all and what actually prompted her to explore her instincts.
Entering Glamour World at 35 must not have been an easy step. Tell me who all, would you like to thank, for supporting you in this decision?
My family has been the strongest support system for me. My Dad, my mom, brother, sister, my husband and kids…. It was because of their support that I could not just think about this career-shift but could also make it happen.  It really isn’t easy for a married woman to start acting after a certain age and stage in one’s life. But my family has always stood by me. Without their support it wouldn’t have been possible, for sure. I see a big smile on their faces and a twinkle in their eyes when they watch me performing and I love that. It is so satisfying to know that they are super proud on my achievement. My 14-year old daughter Adwitiya, 9-year old son Adbhut and my brother Mukund who’s just cleared UPSC exam, they  jump with joy and shower me with complements on my look, hair, costumes, everytime they see me on screen whereas my husband Anirudh who is a banker, my sister Shikha, a cop and my Mom and Dad check on my performance. And I’m so grateful to God for this blessing.
Tell me more about your Mom and Dad so that we get to know about your inherited talents? Well, my father Dr. Yogendra Singh Chahar is an International Level Wrestler and my mother Ms. Meena Chahar has got a beautiful voice and if I tell you about her dancing, its like… even if she is listening to some song for the first time, she wouldn’t skip a beat. I have grown up seeing all that. So, getting in to sports and being creative came naturally to me. I was a national player of Hockey and Badminton in my school days. And dancing, although I could not learn it professionally for some obvious reasons but I feel, I’m quite good at that and I enjoy singing too.
instagram
And now I am intrigued to know your journey right from childhood. So, tell me what kind of kid, Priyamvada Singh was?
As a child I was a big entertainer like.. during family gatherings and functions, I used to be the one who would imitate actors, speak filmi dialogues, crack jokes and dance a lot.
Talking about childhood, which are your best memories?
Small cities, I feel have lot of warmth, care and people know everyone so well. I miss the festive season of Sehore (in MP) a lot (where she has spent her school and college days) especially Ganesh Chaturthi. I still remember, Ganesh Chaturthi was one festival, I used to look forward to. Participating in competitions and winning prizes, it used to be such big fun. This is one of the most fun memories of my childhood that i cherish and tell my kids also.
Have you been able to be in touch with your old friends? Absolutely, infact my friends say that you haven’t changed a bit as a person even after becoming an actor. I still meet them for get togethers, family functions, whenever I am in Bhopal where my parents live. I feel earning name, fame and money is one thing but bonding and relationships play a very important role in our lives. I feel how can those people with whom we have discussed and shared our dreams, not be a part of our lives when we attain those dreams.
How would you describe Priyamvada?
I am very observant and may not be very talented but hard working, for sure. I started my acting career at an age when people have already attained and have become what they want to be. Although, I did have this pressure initially but still went ahead with my decision. So, now I feel I don’t have any time to waste. I am always very focused, working very hard so that I get appreciation for my work. Also, I’m a quick learner.
Did  you ever do theatre or participated in drama during school or college days? No, never! I have never participated in any drama during my school and college days. But yes, in school annual functions, I used to participate in dancing, quiz  and speech but never acting. And honestly, never really got time to do all that professionally because studies, job, marriage, kids kept me pre occupied all these years.
Talking about your entry in to the acting world, which people and co-actors really helped you in becoming a better actor.. so to say?
This is one field where we get to learn from each actor we work with and that’s been the case with me from the time I started my acting journey. First of all I would like to mention my dear Casting Directors Neha Singhania, Aditya Surana, Vishal Gupta, Nazia and Jigar. They have made my acting journey so so easy by giving me great opportunities. I will always be grateful to them. Then comes, Sandeep Sikand who was the producer of my earlier shows Bahut Pyar Karte hain and Lag Ja Gale. He is one of those producers who actually sees the talent of a performer and if he feels the actor deserves more, he would create more opportunities for that actor so that the actor gets a better chance to showcase his or her talent. These people have a great role to play in my acting journey.
I have really been fortunate enough to have got chance to work with best of directors and producers and actors and talking about my co-actors I would like to mention few names. First one is Manav Gohil, a very senior and flawless actor and an amazing human being. Observing him was my very first experience of seeing how an actor can make a written scene look so magical and perfect. I got a chance to work with him in my very first daily soap Shaadi Mubaarak and ofcourse  I was very nervous and anxious but the way he guided me and involved me in the scenes, was just amazing.
Then comes Samar Vermani, he is again one of the coolest and sweetest guys I have ever known and above all, he performs with lot of ease, a master of his craft and so effortless at the same time. While observing him, I realized that if son is like this, then his mother should also be like that. As a result, I improvised a lot in my character.
Gagan Anand is one more actor who has inspired me the most. I worked with him in Lag Ja Gale. His character was negative and so was mine as I was playing his wife. Gagan is a Punjabi and as my character was also Punjabi.. I was able to pull that character so well because of his guidance.
Beautiful and very senior actor Dolly Mattu is one actress, I have learnt so much from. Such a graceful lady, a natural performer she is. I observed her a lot and after seeing her perform, especially emotional scenes I challenged myself and my performance got better.
Anjali Mukhi..what a beautiful performer and human being is she. Unfortunately, we didn’t have much scenes together in Katha..Ankahee but I observed her a lot. The way she experimented with scenes, added her inputs was just a treat to watch. I just hope, I get a chance to work with her again.
instagram
So, now let’s talk about how the transition of a Lecturer-to-an-actor, happened.
You know, switching career at this age is very risky and if one is thinking to enter in to glamour world, its way more riskier. Noone from my family is from films, infact we have got nothing to do with film industry. But God has really been kind to me.  I was born in Agra and did most of my schooling and graduation from Sehore. Then after marriage, I did M.B. A., B.Ed and then PhD (in English Literature) from Bhopal after which I started teaching Personality Development Skills in an Engineering College in Bhopal..where I taught for 10 years. What happened was that in 2018, we shifted to Mumbai as my husband got posted here. That’s when I decided that since I love acting so much, why not give it a try. I might fail but then what… if I fly?  I have not had any training so I am not a trained actor, but what i feel is everyone already has that X factor. With training, it gets more polished.
How was the experience of getting your first acting assignment?
Within one week of sharing my portfolio and audition videos with casting directors, I was selected for Gone Kesh which released in 2019. I played the character of a boss of the leading lady. It’s the story of a girl suffering from Alopesia and how she overcomes this disease. My character plays a very important role in her journey. It was a very positive character and I loved playing it.
And what about Mamatva? I have heard it’s a Braj Language movie. How come you know this language so well?
One strange thing happened. Gone Kesh was the first film I signed but it released later and the shooting also started after I signed Mamatva, a Braj language movie. I played a grey character in the movie and villagers feel she is jinxed. I was very comfortable in speaking Braj since my Mom is from Mathura. But facing the camera for the very first time was a bit tricky for me, atleast on the first day but then with my director Keerti Singh’s help, I was able to understand it all, the very second day onwards. Actually what I had in my mind was that as soon as the director says Action, I have to start acting but my director told me no..you don’t have to act..you have to feel the character from inside. So, from second day onwards, I was able to grasp everything and acting was no more ‘just’ acting for me. It all became like… being that character.
Tell me about your first TV serial?
In the beginning of my TV career, I did this serial called Nazar where I had a cameo and it was very interesting role. I was a part of the group that was doing mermaid hunting and it was quite interesting. Then Crime Patrol came my way where I not just acted but tried my hand at writing story, and dialogues also. Infact, it used to be one of my very favourite serials before coming in to this field and I was thrilled when I got a chance to write as well as act in it.  Infact, I also got an opportunity to write for a serial called Laal Ishq which received a very good response from the audience.
Your first Daily Soap Shaadi Mubaarak (2020) was shot during Corona time, how tough was it to shoot during Covid days and how was the whole experience? Yes, Shaadi Mubaarak was my first daily soap. It was a great experience but we had to take lot of precautions. With sanitizing and mask on, sometimes things would get a bit difficult. But, the whole experience of doing this serial was mind blowing. I had wonderful co actors whom I’ve grown up seeing, so naturally, I was nervous for first few days but then all awkwardness was gone as nobody made me feel like a newcomer.
Which is your favourite character out of the ones you have played so far?
Farha ofcourse, is my favourite character for the simple reason that its very realistic and Farha is very much like me. Its like playing myself on screen. Sometimes even my family says that Farha sounds exactly like you. And second one Lag Ja Gale as it was very challenging for me to play a negative character. I started getting hate messages for this character on Insta and got a bit disturbed also but then my daughter told me Mumma, you should take it as a complement, it simply means that you played your part really well. That’s when I realized, ya that’s so right.
And now about Katha..Ankahee. What do you have to say about your co actors?
I consider myself really lucky that I have got a chance to work with such great actors, our whole team is simply amazing and we all have a great bonding. The magic, the bonding that you see on screen comes out in such a beautiful way because every actor is such a beautiful person from inside. You know being a good actor, good technician is one thing but to be good with everyone is really commendable. Whether its Adnan who is an extraordinary person and a brilliant actor or Aditi who is so humble and a great performer. Bidisha is multi talented and a very dear friend. Then Samar, he is the most amazing and chilled out co-actor, I have worked with. Our director Ravi is one of the finest directors I have worked with. We all enjoy each other’s company a lot and everyday we get to learn so much from each other atleast that’s true in my case.
instagram
Your and Bidisha’s friendship is amazing both onscreen and offscreen. So, did it start with Katha only or is it Mission Over Mars?   You won’t believe, we met on Katha’s set for the first time and you are right we both acted in Mission Over Mars also without even knowing it. We were really not aware of each other’s presence in MoM as we didn’t have any scenes together. Its only while shooting for Katha, we discovered this fact.
Since there are so many females on the set of Kathaa..Ankahee, is there any competition or insecurity among all?
Well, I don’t want to sound politically correct but frankly speaking, nothing like that happens. Infact, we are always appreciating each other so much. We are so happy about each other that there is no such thing like competition or insecurity or anything like that.
instagram
Apart from Katha Ankahee, you are doing Do Chutki Sindoor also. Tell me about that.
It’s a Shashi-Sumeet productions with whom I did my very first daily soap i.e. Shaadi Mubaarak. I play a negative character in the serial who is Bua of the main lead. It has been a great experience so far and the best thing is that I was locked for a positive character but during the workshops, the director thought that I would be able to pull off negative character very well. So, the character I’m playing in Do Chutki Sindoor is of a woman who is very greedy, mean and cunning and can go to any extent to prove her point. And I must say that i am having a great time with my co-actors.
Is there any particular character you want to play on screen?
As such, I don’t plan things and I’m always content with what I do. But yes having said that, I would love to play a cop or a don type character, a powerful character that can scare people. (and she laughs)
Which are you favourite childhood serials?
Pallavi Joshi’s Aarohan which was about a girl who joins Navy was very inspiring. Another one was Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai. And out of current serials, I love watching Asif Shekh and Deelip Joshi in Bhabhi ji Ghar Par Hain and Tarak Mehta Ka Ulta Chashma. One strange thing, I would like to mention here is that shooting of Tarak Mehta Ka Ulta Chashma is happening in Filmcity where I shoot for Katha but I never feel like going there.. why..because somewhere I have this belief that the society exists somewhere in reality  and I don’t want to break that myth. So, that’s the level of liking and attachment with this serial.
Tumblr media
Who are your favourite actors both on Television and films?
My all time favourite actor is Sridevi. She is one actor whom I have, grown up watching. Infact, my way of understanding a character, emoting and performing, the essence is somewhere or the other, inspired by one and only Sridevi. She has not only inspired me professionally but she’s had a great impact on my personality as well.
Bryan  Lee Cranston is another actor, I appreciate a lot. I watched his series Breaking Bad on my brother’s insistence. This actor, I feel is the most fabulous performer I have ever seen in my life. If ever I got a chance to play such character, I would definitely take his reference.
What message you have for your fans who appreciate you so much?
I am so grateful and overwhelmed with the love, the audience shower on me, when they complement me and even when they send me hate messages because somewhere, all this convinces me that I have played my part well. And in that case, whether my audience loves or hates the character I play, I am always grateful that they are with me, I am always grateful that I am being appreciated for doing what I love doing the most. And I will always try my best to entertain my lovely audience.

Buster Moon Headcannons
-Is a hugger
-Picky eater
-Can actually sing but prefers for the others to do the singing and dancing. He would rather be to the side and let the others be the center of attention.
-Uses Gunter and Nooshy for script inspiration
-Rosita helps him with script writing sometimes
-Buster plays piano with Johnny some days
-Buster is scared of spiders
-And bees
-And n33dl3$
-Porsha stays at the theater some nights, and she and Buster have a lot of fun.
-Buster used to have a girlfriend.
-Is allergic to pinepple (long story)
-Never met his mom
-Secretly is still very sad about the loss of his dad, but doesn't let anyone know or pick it up.
-Thinks of Rosita as a motherly sister.
-The piglets call him Uncle Buster
-Ash calls him Moon-man
-Nooshy calls him Moonie
-Porsha occasionally calls him daddy.
-Gunter is like a brother to Buster.
-Buster has done karaoke with Gunter
-Meena bakes him stuff a lot because all Buster knows how to make (without causing an explosion) is toast. He is invited to her house a lot.
-Buster had met Mr. Crystal when he was younger.
-He was extra afraid of Crystal because (in the wild) dogs are the main enemies of koalas.
-Buster hates getting wet as well as his precarious relationship with water.
-It's not uncommon to see him falling headfirst down the stairs while tugging on his blue blazer.
-It's VERY common to see him accidentally walking backwards off of the stage.
-He was bullied as a kid. (I can almost guarantee it)
-He would help his dad with the car wash as a kid.
-It wasn't uncommon for him to talk his dad's ears off about the latest shows.
-Buster was actually a nifty little theif as a kid when he needed to be, but he'd never tell you.
-He used to be in a rock band.
-He tried to play baseball as a kid, but the mitts and baseball bat were way too big. Not to mention a ball speeding towards him would end with him getting really hurt... so yeah, he didn't get very far in his baseball career XD
-He still has nightmares of Crystal :(
-Him and Nooshy do things that are most likely mildly illegal.
-Nooshy and Ash taught him to be a hacker, even if he doesn't use the skill often apart from when he forgets his password... which happens a lot.
-Buster's original password was 'theater' but everyone guessed it on the first try and he had to change it. Now it is Yuri Dorfenboop. Foolproof.
-Hehas a huge playlist, of many artists and genres.
-Ash introduced him to her music (the Skunkdolls poster in her apartment in the first movie. Second movie, we ssee Buster has a Skunkdolls album.)
-He re-made his show War of Attrition when he managed to salvage the poster for it. That's why you see/hear about it in both movies even with the flood and fall of the original theater.
-He redid a ton of his shows.
-He sings when he's by himself
-He CAN play piano, but his mind wonders so much he switches songs and artist frequently without noticing every few minutes. By the end, he'll be freestyling.
-Buster was once mistaken for a performer at Rick's Club when he ran onstage to help out Ash. He had a microphone shoved in his paws and had no choice but to sing. He sang Pheonix by League of Legends. The crowd went wild. Buster vowed to never perform in front of a crowd again, which he had to break when he was forced to play in a show for Angus Chrome.
-He can also play the trumpet, and it's hilarious because it's way bigger than he is.
-He falls off of the ladder a lot.
-The crew caught him creating Daleonaise (mayonaise mixed with Dale's sauce) and tasting it.
-He has a fear of needles.
-He can't pronounce Worceshire. Neither can I. We call it Woostashoosh.
-He has memorized over one hundred actors.
-He secretly kinda likes Rosita. (My comfort character. I like this. Sue me.)
-When he's nervous, his ears twitch as well as his nose and it's adorable.
-He makes weird faces when he's concentrating.
-The color of blue of his eyes changes depending on the light.
-He taps things absentmindedly with a claw when he's being bothered by something/someone.
-No one knows Buster's habits as well as Eddie Noodleman
-In college, Eddie would help out Buster with the bullies when he needed to (the bullies wouldn't hurt or mess with Eddie because his parents were rich and their lives would be over if they did) and in return Buster would help Eddie with school and play videogames with him.
-Buster was poor as a kid, too, so he didn't always have all the school books he needed so he would take notes by writing on his hands when necessary.
-He stills writes info on his hands when he needs to.
-Rosita acts like Buster's mom a lot.
-Clay still teases Buster about the water tap thing.
-Buster met Mizuki because the gazelle wanted to figure out who showed up in her pictures of the couple in the first movie when Buster photobombed on his bike.
-Buster dapples in photography and is a very good artist when it comes to drawing.
-He's written a few songs but would never show anyone.
-He and Suki became friends after the second movie.
-Buster has destroyed four toasters in the span of a year.
-Whenever someone laughs at Buster for being so cheesy and optimistic over the craziest things, he jokingly tells them "I STAN OPTIMISM! And babies. I stan those too." everyone laughs really hard.
-He has a version of Jingle Bells of him and his little family doing arsonist-like activities.
-He doodles his family when he's bored.
-He doesn't know how to use a tablet. It took him forever just to learn how to operate his phone for calls and messages.
-He loves peanut butter and bananas
-His favorite jelly flavor is grape
-His favorite soda is orange fanta
-His favorite snack is cheesy doritoes
-He also loves apples
-He will never turn down a tootsie rolls to save his life.
-Loves chocolate.
-Climbs trees occasionally to read books.
-He says hello to the squids at Les Calmars whenever he passes by.
-His theater is on 551 Echo Drive.
-He refuses to get an apartment, that's why Nana had a bedroom built into his theater right above his office.
-Stills uses his comfort drawer. (ITS SO FRIGGIN CUTE-!!!)
-Ash and Nooshy and Porsha fangirl over his adorable little ears and paws whenever he gets twitchy because it's adorable.
-Porsha will do anything to get to pick up Buster and give him an extra big hug. Buster loves it too. He's a hugger.
-He prefers his coffee black.
-He's never had a butterfingers bar. Nooshy intends to right this wrong.
-He's never heard of Michael Jackson!! (yes he is a person in the Singverse. I headcannon he is a giraffe or kangaroo or something.)
-Buster would do literally anything for his family.

The Significance of Ash's and Meena's outfit swaps
ITS TIME FOR A HOT TAKE FEATURING THE LOVELY ASH AND MEENA
Tumblr media
So we remember Ash's outfit in the first movie, the dark look that was almost exactly the same as L*nce's. It showed to the audience how Ash was basically forced to become a copy of Lance and rlly repressed most of her personality and attributes behind this facade (which only really came out when she sang)
In the first movie she wore black and with that she would always have this mask with her "I don't care" attitude (most likely implemented by her ex)
Tumblr media
BUT THEN we have Ash's outfit in Sing 2 which is so bold. The colour is Red, and that colour is typically one that represents passion and draws attention towards it. Ash made sure she was not hidden in someone's shadow with a colour that bold. Also in her original outfit, she wore bits of red (her skirt and her guitar) hinting towards how her passion only was shown in small segments
EVEN HER FINAL SING PERFORMANCE SHE HAD A RED JACKET AND RED SUNGLASSES + THE COLOUR OF THE STAGE WAS RED
Tumblr media
Alongside that can we talk about how many more emotions she displayed instead of just her nonchalant behaviour shown in the first movie?? I LOVE IT
Red really was a colour significant to HER AND SHE BODIED IT
Now Meena:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Meena in the first movie wore the faded baby blue hoodie. One thing I noticed (or everyone noticed) was that in the first movie she had so many moments constantly crippling under her self doubt and anxieties, which rendered her feeling quite sad on various occasions. The faded baby blue hoodie allowed Meena to drift into the background. That blue is a colour that shows peace and passiveness
Tumblr media Tumblr media
THEN WE GET PINK HOODIE MEENA. This colour literally represents happiness and youthfulness. That is exactly what Meena gained when she joined the Moon Theatre, we barely see her pull her ears close to her head in this movie.
Alongside that, this colour is one that pops out to the audience. You can see this colour and it really symbolises how Meena was able to develop into someone who won't hide herself and fade away into the background
Tumblr media
+ it could also be a nod to her mom, whose personality was outgoing and sweet (thats so cute)
In conclusion: I LOVE THESE TWO SO SO MUCH AND SEEING THEM GROW AS CHARACTERS IS EVERYTHING. THEIR CLOTHING RLLY REFLECTS THEIR CHARACTER ARCS
