it's been a minute since the last signal hill update! if you're curious about the hood i recommend checking out the hood directory.
when editing the rest of round 3 i realized just how many babies were born or aged into toddlers, and how that's pretty much the only content i have for the rest of the round. so i decided to just compile them all so we can speed through.
here are some of the new babies of generation 2 - alex dunn (mikey & josie's son), adam fletcher (daniel's son), johnny armstrong (alien baby born to carter & tina), anya lee (born last round to bianca & nisha), and the larson kiddos, mars and his new baby sister kira (aj & markus' kids)
NOW we should be back on track, lmao. more screenshots from this round below the cut just so they exist somewhere, but i'm really ready to get to round 4.
dunn household, round 3 — josie and mikey shacked up last round, and now they have baby alex, who was a happy little accident.
fletcher household, round 3 — i spent the entire round balancing around baby adam. arhan was at work 90% of the time, so daniel took on a lot of the caretaking duties.
lee household, round 3 — over at the lee household, we just have seth and anya being cute babies. i think seth aged up on the final day of the round but you'll see him in round 4!
armstrong household, round 3 — i really took zero screenshots of the armstrongs this round lol. carter got abducted again, almost immediately after johnny was born. this will be baby #3, for those keeping track.
larson household, round 3 — aj and markus moved into a new house after mars was born, and found out aj was pregnant again shortly after moving in. the new house is a bit empty for now, but with mars aging up to a toddler, and baby kira arriving, it'll feel cramped soon enough.
and we're off to round 4! :)

MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell wants more power within the Republican Party: he's officially running to chair the Republican National Committee.
Lindell announced his run on Monday morning during fellow Trump ally Steve Bannon's "War Room" podcast.
"With all my due diligence and in prayer, I am 100% running for RNC chairman against Ronna McDaniel," Lindell said. "It's going to change real fast. We're going to get our country right, really quick."
Lindell said he has spoken to RNC donors and state officials, and obtained their support.
He added that he was looking to move the Republican Party toward backing candidates like Kari Lake and Mark Finchem — Trump-backed individuals who have consistently made baseless claims about the 2020 election.
"The RNC collects money and then they don't do anything with election crime," Lindell told Bannon, once again echoing false claims about widespread voter fraud.
Speaking to Insider after his announcement, Lindell said the first item on his to-do list is calling all 168 members of the RNC to find out what the biggest problem is with the organization.
It is unclear how successful Lindell's bid for the position will be. McDaniel, the current RNC chair, has been endorsed by a majority of the RNC's voting members — 101 in total — who signed on to a letter endorsing her re-election, The Hill reported.
Former President Donald Trump, Lindell's longtime ally, hasn't yet publicly supported his bid against McDaniel. Lindell told Insider that he hasn't spoken to Trump about the matter yet.
A spokesman for Trump did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.
Lindell and McDaniel are not on the best of terms. Their feud goes back to November 2021, when Lindell accused McDaniel and the RNC of working to prevent him from filing a complaint to the Supreme Court. That complaint contained over 70 pages of unsupported accusations that widespread voter fraud in states including Arizona, Georgia, and Pennsylvania.
During his November 2021 live stream, Lindell accused the RNC of calling state attorneys general and pressuring them to not sign his complaint. He also slammed McDaniel for publicly admitting that month that President Joe Biden beat Trump. An RNC spokesperson told Insider that Lindell's allegations are completely false in response to a request for comment.
As for McDaniel, she has signaled that she plans to run for another term as RNC chair, per Politico. And the right-wing pillow CEO might not be her only challenger. New York GOP Rep. Lee Zeldin, who lost his gubernatorial race this month, is considering a run too, Politico reported.
If Lindell were to win the RNC election during the committee's winter meeting in January 2023, that would mean control of a major political committee — one that, essentially, shapes the GOP's platform — will be under the control of a fringe MAGA figure.
Representatives for McDaniel did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment on Lindell's bid.

Fun fact: during the May 1863 smallpox outbreak among the 20th Maine, Joshua Chamberlain suggested that they spread the disease to the Rebs - and here's the story behind it, which is more complex than many may perceive.
An infected smallpox vaccine, which had been distributed to the 20th Maine, resulted in some 80 soldiers catching the disease. Of those eighty men, four had died by April 21. The following day, the whole regiment was brought to a hill one mile from camp, soon known as "Quarantine Hill." Because of this, the 20th Maine did not participate in the incoming battle of Chancellorsville.
Joshua was frustrated with this after four months of bivouacking and camping. He wanted to partake in the battle, and thus he paid a visit to the army headquarters. There, he discussed his predicament with Dan Butterfield, his old corps commander. Later in the day Chamberlain expressed that he felt he hadn't conveyed, at least properly, to Butterfield "the precise impression I designed." He wrote to the general and requested to be allowed to serve in the coming battle, even if his command couldn't. At this point, the battle of Chancellorsville was only days to weeks away, and he felt a need to participate. If field service was ruled out, could he at least serve on a general's staff?
"If... there is a battle, and I am left here in a pest-house, " he wrote to Fannie, "I shall be desperate with mortification." Although Joshua's 'fate' during the battle would be someone else's, some historians agree that he may have felt that his reputation may be damaged if the rest of the army fought and he didn't. Many overlook this, but reputation, ego, and performance played a role in Joshua's motivation and outlook of the war. For him, fighting in a battle was a test of bravery and a victory could display him, to his wife and colleagues, as a hero or gallant officer. This is further supported by the letters he sends to friends and family back home, where we can easily identify the impression he hoped to have on the receiver when he tells his account of some recent skirmish or worse.
So basically up to this point, Chamberlain is frustrated because his regiment will be missing out on the action, and so he's going to try to get them to participate. And if not the 20th Maine, then he hopes to play some part in the fighting.
Between that time and May 1, Ames becomes an aide-de-camp at corps headquarters. He moves upriver with four of Hooker's seven corps in an attempt to outflank the Confederates, which is reminiscent of Burnside's Mud March earlier that year. His departure left the 20th Maine in Joshua's hands, who had become frustrated at this point. For five days, their quarantine drags on with no action.
By May 1, a hundred members of the regiment have symptoms of smallpox. That day, artillery fire could be heard from the direction of Fredericksburg, as well as the place where Hooker's outfit had crossed the river to Lee's left and rear. Near Fredericksburg, two corps had been left behind to hold the Confederate main body in place.
One of Chamberlain's enlisted men wrote that "We could hear the firing plain, but there we lay in glorious idleness without being able to lift a finger or fire a gun." It seems that Chamberlain was not the only one frustrated by their indefinite position.
On the afternoon of May 1, Chamberlain headed to Hooker's headquarters, and found Butterfield there in charge. He informed Butterfield that he'd place the 20th Maine anywhere it would be helpful, adding that "if we couldn't do anything else, we would give the Rebels the small pox."
He later expressed that "the force of my suggestion seemed to be appreciated, for at midnight I received a dispatch... directing me to be at Banks' & U.S. Fords at daylight to take charge of the Signal and Telegraph lines from Hdqrs. [Headquarters] to the several stations on the field of battle, with instructions to put to death any who attempted to disturb our communications."
The rest is history; during the late hours of May 3rd, the healthy members of the regiment hit the road and moved toward the upriver fords. Throughout the night and the 4th, they traveled along the line of the military telegraph. During that time they also repaired breaks in the line, and no Confederates were captured and executed. Although the assignment brought much work and little glory or excitement to the outfit, Joshua was somewhat satisfied. Yet, later on in the day, he left Major Gilmore to manage the regiment and fell in with Griffin's division as it fought a portion of the Second Corps, Army of Northern Virginia.
The fate of the battle had effectively been decided as a victory to the enemy by the time that Joshua joined in. Hooker's main body was detrimentally affected by Lee's army, heavily inflicted with both mental and physical wounds. Joshua, knowing this, participated anyways; and for the second time in eight months, was thrown off of his horse. As he rode into a masked battery, Prince suffered a shell wound to the head and fell down. Joshua got up unharmed, but his horse did not.
This is a really long and probably overdone analysis of the 20th's participation at Chancellorsville, so I'm surprised if anyone reads this all the way through. But if you do, I hope it's been informative at the very least :)

ZUKO (V.O.): All the predictions, all the pageantry, all the preparation, it all comes down to this moment. One of these racers is about to fly off into the pages of sports history and become a champion.
(The starting signal is a green flag held by Majestia, which she raises.)
MAJESTIA: (OVER MIC) Go!
(At the drop of the flag, the racers roar forward.)
TOPH (V.O.): And we are under way!
(The crowd roars as the racers take off. One-by-one, they climb into the air, over the ocean, and raise their landing gear. As they start to spread out, Gabriel takes an early lead, followed closely by Nathalie and Cash. Marinette trails the group, but is caught in the current of the other racers.)

By association, sort of, the reason I think the relatively silly character of Victor von Doom in the comics initially struck me as realistic, like it must have been written by someone who understood Romani culture of a similar kind to what I grew up with: Victor's open grief for his mother is such a no-no, him keeping her things and using them breaks so many taboos that it's like, you know what, nvm about the "dark arts" here buddy, you are essentially flipping off God with both hands while standing on the tallest hill with a lightning rod on your head? It signals to those who understand in such a visceral way I really had to assume my reading was wrong, bc how the hell did Lee and/or Kirby know about that?
But if they did, I don't think they fully understood the implications they were layering on. Or maybe that was the whole idea, idk. I think it was pretty effective for a guy they wanted to set up from the outset as someone who was absolutely not about following any spiritual law but his own.

Rosewood Avenue and 13th Street: Eastbound Rosewood at Broadway will be closed for intersection reconstruction.The bicycle and pedestrian reroute will be to the west along Ninth Street and multiuse path. The west side sidewalk will be closed - the east side sidewalk can be used. Vehicle travel lanes will shift to existing northbound lane and bike lane. North Broadway: Pavement will be improved to concrete and buffered bike lanes installed.Northbound bus stop on 30th (BOUND) closed board at next stop.
