Hello, i read your drabble with the kings when they catch you watching Super Sentai. Now Can I request how about them(the kings+Minhyeok(optional)) catch you watching animals documentary LOL
Thank you💙
Of course LOL
*Sir David Attenborough's voice narrating in the background*
Kings + Minhyeok catch Reader watching animal documentary 🐘
Satan
(What could be better than watching animal documentary, especially one about wild cats, while having a cat's sunny fur smell in the background. It adds to the immersion /hj)
At first, you were too absorbed in the documentary to realize the cat sunny fur smell in the air wasn't something you imagined from watching animal documentary too much.
However, when the scene of two animal fighting over mate/territory was shown, you could hear a small laugh beside, half pleasant half snickering.
"Satan!!!!" You shouted.
"As I thought, you always watch interesting thing, Y/N."
Now you were left puzzled with what Satan found interesting in an animal documentary. Was it because the animals were beautiful and majestic? No that couldn't be it. Or was it because since animals always follow their instinct, they are similar to devils in a way, because devils are honest with themselves and their desires. Oh great, now all you brain wants to think about is sex.
Damnit, Satan!
Mammon
You didn't hear Mammon coming, when you realized that he was in the room with you, you were already being moved. The King of Greed set you sitting on his lap, leaning you on his firm chest.
"Isn't this more comfortable, Master?" He said, making you flustered and more focused on him than on the documentary.
"Master, if you love these animals so much, I could catch them and bring them to you so you could admire them more closely." You heard Greed said and immediately reacted and gave him a lecture on how that would affect negatively on the wild animals, to which Mammon agreed and said:
"Ah yes, those animals are best not imprisoned inside a cage, just like how certain treasures shine most when they are free."
Leviathan
Each time Leviathan heard the world "great", "noble", "majestic", "beautiful", etc that the narrator used to describe the animal and saw you focusing on the screen, he scowled. Is he not greater, more noble, more majestic and more beautiful than those wild beasts? So Y/N, you should look at him instead of those animals.
"Hang."
Beelzebub
"Oh those animals look delicious." The King of Gluttony put his chin on your head as he commented, half-jokingly.
"Bell, no eating these animals, okay? This species is at risk of being extinct."
"Really? But there are hundreds of them..."
"Bell!!!"
"Alright, alright, I got it, no eating them if you say so." Bell said and winked.
Minhyeok
"Finally, you are watching something else beside porn, Y/N."
"Hey, it's not like porns are all I watch." You protested as Minhyeok laughed. Nevertheless, he decided to sit down and watch the documentary with you, which made you remember the wonderful childhood you two shared before the death of your parents. You couldn't help but being grateful of Minhyeok for being with you all the way, through all the ups and downs of your life.
I hope you like it 💙

Not sorry, but I believe Sanji's arranged marriage made WCI worse. I didn't like the arc that much already, but the marriage was extremely unnecessary.
I know the framing is supposed to show Sanji is kind, but to me Sanji's kindness was never called into question. Whole Cake did not bring it back or highlight it. We knew Sanji was kind when he was told to leave Gin to die on the baratie and Sanji fed him anyway. We knew Sanji was kind when he trusted Nami even after barely knowing her and tried to reassure the rest of the crew there must've been another reason for her leaving. He extended that same kindness to Usopp by defending him from Luffy during Enies Lobby. He even blamed Zoro for Usopp leaving at all!
He's kind enough to remember everyone's favorite foods and preferences BEFORE Whole Cake Island. His kindness is shown equally to men, women, and kids in multiple arcs both main, filler, and in one piece movies set during pre-time skip. Of course Sanji is kind. THIS KNOWLEDGE CAME FREE WITH YOUR PRE-TIME SKIP ANIME.
The poor attempt Whole Cake does is try to remind people Sanji is a nice guy after the horrible character assassination of making him an even bigger pervert which are two separate problems. The kindness was never drawn into question! We knew! We always knew! It's Oda's fault for deciding over and over again to make Sanji behave one step removed from "accidentally" groping women!
Like, Sanji's fandom wasn't built because he's strong like Zoro or fun like Luffy. Sanji's fandom derived from his gentleman schtick pre-time skip where he's genuinely fucking sweet when he's not twirling around like an idiot. If he was actually an intolerable gross pervert, it wouldn't matter how well he cooks. People would either have mixed feelings about him or they'd hate him. But post time skip Sanji???????? They were riding the fucking edge with that behavior. Like REALLY riding the edge! It was the cushion of his history that kept him popular along with the hope that they'd fucking tone it down!!!!! They wanted the grossness toned down! They didn't need a reminder of the kindness!
Add the fact that he didn't need A SECOND ALTERNATIVE BACKSTORY???? Apparently nearly starving to death on an uninhabitable island with a man willing to eat his own leg so the child had a shot at survival wasn't tragic enough for some people?!??!?? What does Judge's relation to Sanji add other than a last name he doesn't want and never claims? What do his supposedly emotionless family generate when Sanji has already been the character that chooses kindness when surrounded by cruel people. He's a freaking pirate! That's a normal Tuesday on some of the islands they go to! What did this arc add to him that made me look at his behavior differently? Should I thank Oda for adding another dead mom to his corpse arsenal, or will I acknowledge the fact he probably just wanted to add a super sentai reference so he could cover every style of anime in his giant storybook?
And I don't want to say Whole Cake was a bust. I mean Jinbei is there!! We finally get to see what kind of real threat Big Mom is!!! The Charlotte family is a colorful and tasty looking cast!!!! Sure the Katakuri fight wasn't nearly as exciting as other big encounters but there were big plot relevant things within the story including a connection to punk hazard! Yet, the whole thing with Sanji's biological family and this arranged marriage was the dumbest segway for us to get this information!

A Linked Universe Modern AU
I came up with an AU and I haven’t seen anyone else ran with this exact type of AU(yeah I seen modern aus of LU, just not the exact one I’m doing) I’m doing for the fandom yet so. For this I’ll do it myself, and call this AU
✨Magical Nine Courages✨
I know real original[/sar]. There’s the fact I made it kinda magical girl like too(mix of Precure and Sailor Moon plus some Tokyo Mew Mew, maybe super hero girls and power rangers/super sentai too?). So yeah. Now basic story or gist AHEM
The chain or the team of Links have technically long had their adventures and met each other, plus long ended the reincarnation cycle/curse thanks to their time traveling adventure they had together. However it has long faded into history all the way to modern day in the kingdom of Hyrule(aka everything we have now they have too, like phones, cars, and the most wonderful ✨internet✨[COUGH TUMBLR TOO COUGH] difference is that they technically still have ✨magic✨) and people are still trying to put together their history and better understand them(especially the most famous nine heroes depicted in them). Of course this peace couldn’t last forever, someone wants to bring back Ganon and wreck havoc once again. This of course is bad, very bad, as one certain high school gets attacked by some kind of overpowered monster(which first of all, monsters should be NO WHERE near the city or heck even in it. Second that monster shouldn’t be as OP as heck too). If only there are heroes that can stand up to such a threat, just like the legendary heroes of courage. Well, they are out there. They just need to be called on again ————————————————————————
Characters
Heroes
Villains
Others
Locations
Central Hyrule City
Central Castle High
Key Info
How do the powers work? What’s Hyrule Royal Family like in this exact AU?
Storyline
(Coming soon, please wait in the meantime 🙏)
Others
Headcanons for this AU
Incorrect Quotes for this AU
(The Links to the rest of these are coming soon, heck maybe I’ll add more later)

Tumblr media
I want to tell you my opinions on the objectification and oversexualization of female characters in visual media, such as comic books and anime/manga.
When the oversexualization of women in media is criticized, I often see a counter-argument (derailment tactic) saying "but men are sexualized/objectified too! Look at how big and muscular Batman is!"
Yes, men are also subjected to harmful beauty standards. The ideal of a visible six-pack 100% of the time is unhealthy and in fact a sign of dehydration, Chris Evans spoke about being malnourished and dehydrated during his run as Captain America because of the demands on maintaining his physique.
But by saying "men are objectified/sexualized too, look at male action heroes with their idealized physiques, swelling abs and six-pack" I feel that is missing the point of what makes the overt sexualization and objectification of women in media harmful.
Unlike women, men more often than not get to keep their dignity. They appear strong, powerful and in control regardless of situation. They do not have to be sexually appealing in every scene they appear in. Women however are much more frequently drawn in a sexualized way even when inappropriate.
For example, take a look at this page from Captain America (2002) #30 penciled by Scot Eaton.
Tumblr media
This is an example of a man and a woman being drawn differently for no real reason. Both captain America and Diamondback-a female character-have been captured and suspended in manacles. But while Cap's stance is powerful and his expression stoic and defiant, Diamondback is drawn in a way that draws the eyes to her curves. The context is entirely non-sexual yet the reader is invited to be aroused by it.
There are countless more examples of female characters in comics being sexualized even when unconscious, victimized or dead. It's called "sexualized in defeat". And most people are probably aware of the "boobs and butt pose" frequently used to make a female character's breasts and ass visible at the same time, even if their anatomy gets mangled in the process.
The point of the "Initiative Hawkeye" art movement where male characters are placed in the same provocative poses as female comic characters is to highlight how absurd these poses are for the female characters in question. If you find male characters looking ridiculous when sticking their ass out in a serious action scene it means its just as ridiculous a female character, and the only reason not to would be because of being desensitive due to overexposure.
Using another media as an example, this time an anime:
Tumblr media
There are four male characters in the picture and one female. Their outfits are supposed to be special, technologically-enhanced outfits designed for combat, able to provide protection from fire and bullets and inspired by the Super Sentai Genre, yet the one girl has much of her legs exposed and a cleavage so deep it reaches her navel.
It doesn't look like it could protect her from the elements let alone bullets and doesn't even resemble a Super Sentai uniform. Sexiness comes at the expense of suspension of disbelief and leaves the one girl in a team of mostly men with no dignity for no reason at all.
What's worse, her father was the one who designed her outfit, thus making her outfit creepy in a way the show never dwells upon.
Basically, I feel like even if we take "men are just as sexualized" at face value, at least it leaves them with their dignity intact while fictional women don't even have that. That's what makes "female objectification" degrading and humiliating in my opinion.
I want to add that when I posted this on another site, I've received some input that I want to include:
One is that its toxic and harmful for men to be pressured into appearing strong and confident all the time, that men should be able to be vulnerable and express sadness and cry without judgement, which is completely true.
But in the context of what I've said, the objectification of women also leaves them as non-people unable to express emotions if that will make them "sexually unappealing" in the eyes of the audience.
Someone who worked in the comic book industry has stated that sexualizing a female character is a very deliberate choice, far more than just drawing them with an idealized body. Camera angles focused on the lower body and breasts, extra shininess on their thighs, unnatural poses that draw the eyes towards the curves and invite the reader to be aroused even if the character's intent and emotional state are nonsexual, and they aren't allowed to be given facial expressions that are too angry, "intense" or ugly-cry for fear of being sexually off-putting.
While unhealthy standards for men do exist, we should acknowledge that female and male characters are indeed treated differently, and the root cause is appeal to a presumed straight male audience.

doodles of gertrude as The Crowbar during her zombie slaying, bounty hunting days. i did the math and if the present day of the gmod roleplay vids is 2014 ish then this wouldve been like. late 80s i wanna say? her outfit is heavily inspired by super sentai cause thats most of the superhero stuff I watch plus its more practical for a human who doesnt actually have powers fighting zombies to have a suit that covers every inch of skin and is fitted to the body. the heels are just to add a slay factor that i think all superhero outfits should have, regardless of practicality. her ponytail isnt real btw it used to be until it got pulled on and then she decided to cut her hair and just have a fake one on the helmet. i probably should've written all this in the tags but whatevar

I'm vibing so hard with your magical girl scar au but I realize I don't have much experience with magical girl media, do you have any recommendations?
okay so my all-time favorite magical girl show is definitely princess tutu, which is actually not what i'm basing this au off of AT ALL but i promise it is really really good and if you think you may like magical girl stuff it may be the way to go. plus, especially as we get into the second season? all the metacommentary about storytelling in that show has probably affected how i write and the sorts of things i like to talk about. princess tutu is SO GOOD guys even if you don't normally like ballet or magical girls i promise you should watch it and it's very silly in... many parts... anteaterina in that second episode... but it's also SO GOOD. and if you already like magical girls? GO WATCH IT WHY HAVEN'T YOU YET.
outside of that i like cardcaptor sakura a lot as a show that generally makes me feel happy whenever i watch it. it just is a show that has such nice and good vibes if you want something with nice and good vibes i recommend. plus something about cardcaptor's animation and designs specifically makes me feel soft and nostalgic for some reason. (this au takes its inciting incident almost verbatim from cardcaptor's inciting incident, fun fact, although then things immediately change due to the differing directions from there.)
classic 90s sailor moon anime is a classic for a reason; it is very much the magical girl formula but also it's like, one of the first ones to do it as strongly as it did, and if you like monster-of-the-week 90s TV and anime you'll definitely like it. or if you like stuff like power rangers; 90s sailor moon anime is actually pretty high on the 'basically super sentai for girls' scale as far as magical girl stuff goes (plus it's probably my formative magical girl anime).
i don't know much about precure; someone else can tell you what precure is good to watch! however i do know precure is really good and is what currently holds the torch of played-straight, long-running magical girl franchise, and i have seen the transformation sequences and stuff and it looks really good i just haven't had time to watch much of it. at some point i will.
recently, tokyo new mew is out, another thing i need to watch, because i watched tokyo mew mew in high school as one of the first anime i purposefully sought out to watch. that one's fun, i really like the animal themes in it, another just very good magical girl show in my opinion. it's been a long while since i last watched it but i remember i liked lettuce a lot. (they are all named after foods for some reason.)
madoka magica is gonna come up when you talk magical girls; it's... i like madoka actually but i will say that both a lot of people tend to misread it and also that it did this thing where it permanently made people go "oh but what if OUR magical girls are EDGY" as though magical girl shows have never had anything dark in them and also as though edgy makes it better. (all the sailor scouts die like, once if not more than once at various points in sailor moon guys, this is not a thing madoka invented for the genre.) it's very good and i really love the visuals of the witches in madoka, but it's also very much not a magical girl show played straight and i honestly think you appreciate it more if you actually like magical girls? idk complicated feelings on madoka you know.
however i will add one last recommendation for a post-madoka magical girl thing, and that's the webcomic sleepless domain by mary cagle. it's a REALLY cool webcomic, has good worldbuilding, despite the specific twist it uses it doesn't feel like one of the ones that went "but what if our magical girls can DIE" after madoka did but has like, a lot to do with its premise, i like a lot about how it's magical girls work and i'm really interested in what's going on right now. i wouldn't be surprised if it influenced my ideas for this au a little considering that i actively read that one as it updates.
and... yeah that's my list of various magical girl things i recommend! obviously there's also a lot of other stuff out there depending on what sort of show you're looking for?

Ramblings On Batman: Arkham Asylum
I think perhaps the most generic Batman story one could write has gone from "Batman punches a deranged mad man" to "Maybe Batman is just like these mad men". He's constantly contrasted with his antagonists, characters like the Riddler or the Joker will go "He's the real crazy one", as if it's a get out of jail free card to adding depth, that this one idea itself is enough to really drive home some point.
The Arkham series as a whole is ostensibly about this, it being named for the in universe asylum that Batman's villains typically end up in. People who were wronged by society at large or simply had that 'one bad day' so to speak, and found their new home among the criminally insane, and Arkham Asylum adds the additional detail that yes, they are *all* mad in here (looking at you, Warden Sharp).
It's an interesting enough albeit somewhat generic concept for the character, though I am viewing this title roughly fifteen years removed from its initial release. But, even before the release of this title we had obvious inspirations for a lot of its narrative conceit, namely the ever popular comic, "The Dark Knight Returns", which also highlights the mental wellbeing of the antagonists as well as Batman himself, culminating in a rather infamous moment where we have to dissect his personal delusions from the facts of what has happened. Also before this game was the Animated Series and its follow-up, Batman Beyond, the former featuring an episode offering a similar idea to TDKR in that Batman did not create his enemies, rather they created him. The latter offers a more direct idea that we would later see paralleled in the Arkham Trilogy's concluding title- that being in the Return of the Joker, which is primarily about a mentally disturbed Tim Drake.
This is all beside the point that lies at the heart of this, which is 'Was Arkham Asylum worth it, did it serve as an interesting Batman narrative', and begrudgingly I have to say yes. The overall mystery isn't that deep or hard to follow, the machinations of the Joker and incredibly silly despite how well thought out his plan is, the various antagonists do have to phone it in a bit because you can't just have Scarecrow steal the entire show (I do appreciate Ivy taking complete control in the final sections at least), but at the heart of all of it this game is more a celebratory title. It's like a Super Sentai anniversary special but for Batman. You get a ton of cute references, new renditions of classic characters, at least five of the big name antagonists here get to really shine, and it tries its best to make you feel like Batman.
In the spirit of an utterly generic review of the time, I will complement the freeflow combat system's ability to give the player a very brutal yet also very comic book and silly fighting style, one that echoes a lot of what Mortal Kombat 9 would do with its brutality in combat. When playing through the game's challenge scenarios, I really dug into the moveset given, finding a level of depth with a game that ostensibly has a fairly low skill floor (this is where I should mention that means it has a high skill ceiling).
That's it for gameplay though. Gameplay is fine, it's *fun*, but there's more important things to talk about here. What is the game trying to say beyond all the flair, the flashy combat, the massive cast, the good music and even better vocal performances, the really awkward cutscene direction, what is it trying to say?
I honestly couldn't really tell you, and that's my biggest issue with the Arkham series as a whole. It often feels like it's holding back, much like how the combat system only has depth if you seek it out due to that low skill floor, the narrative feels very shallow unless you dig into a lot of it on your own. While comics can be known for being very wordy (almost overly wordy), the Arkham games have a brevity that feels wrong in a way, and this peaks in the game I am not talking about here, Arkham City. In Asylum, this is far less of an issue due to how pedestrian the whole affair is, how simplistic Joker's end goal is and how single minded every character happens to be, it's like the whole world is revolving around Batman and Joker with little bits of depth regarding the depraved treatment of the mentally unwell hidden in optional audio logs (and those same audio logs show how scary the mentally unwell are, and then you go to fight a ton of crazy guys who only scream and lunge at you).
I put that last part in brackets, but it's very significant here. This game wants to show off how Amadeus Arkham and Quincy Sharp are just as unwell as those they look down on, but then you have an entire enemy class that's just "Those crazies huh". It feels tone deaf, and I understand this is part of the game design, you need a new common enemy in the overworld so the player isn't getting bored running around the island, but they also had to write that. They had to direct the big cutscene where Batman enters intensive care and gets a bunch of guys screaming at him and they all look like insensitive caricatures of what an insane person would be. But, this is gothic, this is comic book, which is sad that I'm making that concession but I guess it has to be said.
This all isn't really important though. I know I just spent most of my time talking about the game's treatment of those with mental illness, but most of this doesn't matter. The game isn't really about this, and while there are bite sized pieces of interest sprinkled in, it's more about having fun in the Batman universe, and I can be forgiving. It achieves that goal despite some narrative incongruities in the subtext.
I suppose the bottom line is that this isn't a game concerned with what it is or isn't saying, as what it's trying to be is far louder than anything I just spoke about. It is a game about being Batman, and I hate people that say that about any video game based on an established IP, "This is a game about being X", but it's true. This is all about being Batman- you investigate crime scenes, you take down the notable cast members of his rogue's gallery, you pull off insane combat feats, and at the end you stop Joker's evil plan to destroy Gotham. I suppose that's fine.

Digimon Adventure 02 (Blind Watch) - Episode 22
Tumblr media
Okay...who wrote this one? -_-
This episode was pretty rough. I did like the "peace time in the Digi-World" vibes but then the 2nd half of the episode was SO awkward! They really had no ideas for this one lol. A huge chunk of the episode was dedicated to a non-fight between Veemon and Tortamon because Daisuke and Veemon caught him peeing...why tho. (This was censored in the dub by the way, probably a good idea).
At least the next one looks a lot better!
Digimon introduced: Tortamon, XV-mon
Notes:
-We knew Daisuke was jealous of Takeru and Hikari's relationship, but now Veemon is jealous of Patamon and Tailmon too. I feel like this series doesn't focus on inter-digi relationships enough for me to care about them. It feels kinda forced. It'd be cool if there was some kind of Mystery Dungeon-esque side series where there was more of a focus on the digimon than the kids.
-Apparently Japanese PE is segregated by gender? (The boys are playing basketball and the girls are dancing). I don't remember this ever happening in my American schools, I wonder if it's still like that over there.
-The whole "everybody's chipping in to rebuild the digi-world" thing is a good concept for a filler, transitional episode. It adds some realism when they acknowledge the after-effects of their battles.
-Veemon comes off as really dumb. Like he just kind of copies everything Daisuke does and seems to have a limited vocabulary too. I guess both he and Daisuke are supposed to be loveable meat-heads, but it makes them feel more one-dimensional to me.
-I know this was supposed to be a silly episode, but this seems like it would have been a good opportunity to introduce a new dark evolution. Daisuke spends a good chunk of the episode trying to force Veemon to evolve, so I thought that was the direction they were heading. Instead, there were no repercussions which felt kind of weird.
-The fake Digimon that the Numemon and RedVegiemon created was really cursed. It actually kinda startled me lol. (Wait...Numemon in a bear-like suit? Is that a Digimon World reference!?)
Tumblr media
-What even was the concept for Veemon?? He's kind of dinosaur-like I guess. The colors and letters have a vaguely Super Sentai vibe. I dunno...I don't see the appeal to his design (sorry, not trying to become a Veemon hate blog or anything lol).
-Tortamon peeing out of his smooth crotch was really weird looking. They could have probably obscured that better so it didn't look so awkward. Also, did he have to be making those noises...?
-I guess Veemon getting a champion/adult form finally is justified, but it legit feels like we just got like 3 other Veemon evolutions. They really should have spaced these out better or given us other digimon's evolutions in between to spice things up.
-XV-mon is okay I guess. I like his face and white wings. We're also getting more bipedal evolutions which is a change of pace.

ok predictions/reactions to f-h (not negative necessarily?)
firstoff the banner itself
-shame abt the 17 stuff. imo its really fucking clear that the people in charge of f e as a whole hate the game for its more whimsical/shonen/super sentai tone of “friendship and understanding” and just want a cringey “angst” fest (aka angst that just excuses horrible characters) like 16 (and to be fair a lot of other things in the franchise too). but like imo its not the worst. the vas are clearly doing a good job and the artist too, and its cool and cute to see ivy in the game, even if its just a seasonal
-the others i dont rlly care abt. if i liked e ir at all i def dont after she screwed over an entire country and her presumable former friends there just because she found out her birth family’s world is a place she likes better. like its awful what she went through but imo she still killed a person for no reason when she couldve just told the truth, and even if it would have been painful she should have taken responsibility for her position. but whatever its very eh. and thats all my thoughts pretty much. actually suprised f jorm wasnt the duo but whatevs
-the new story/new oc: i was rooting for all 4 alfr to get resplendent/ect darn it! oh well. it looks like most likely peo and plumie will be the focus (which is good for me bc i love plumie but i wish tri would get good things too ; ; ) and hopefully tri and peo will actually get scenes together acknowledging their relationship as sisters (esp as it was alluded to in last years peo! gosh i hope so pls.) bc b4 screwed them over (esp tri) big time with its fruitless and nonsensical “plot twists”
-another thing that im really happy abt is that the temptri stories (except b3 for... reasons) tend to not involve the main cast of the game, which honestly is a breath of fresh air. b2′s one was horrendous bc of the dragons and the retcons, but it could have been so much worse. 3′s too if im being honest. e irs obsession w the main cast is... very regrettable but also understandable, so it wasnt too much detracting imo. im just hoping they keep this up with b4 and dont fucking involve those horrible and ridiculous “plot twists” from book 4. can we please just fucking forget any shitty changeling stories/plotlines in any media ever pls. (except m l p. youre cool you can stay. cough cough unrealistic expectations for this kind of story cough cough)
-that being said plumie + peo is hilarious and sweet. plumie calling her a little petal or something is so funny/cute. and my kasuplumie shipper heart is like “aw plumie took up nicknaming people from kasumi!” like this is character development done right take notes b2 temptri. i think itll be really wholesome if they do end up being the ascendants for this year, seeing them become friends. i would have liked tri but i feel like it also fits as the two of them are the more active of their groups (mira is really passive, and i feel like tri is more distant than aggressive like plumie is). so plumie being super jaded and scornful + peo being really caring with no strings attached and self sacrificing will be really wholesome to see if it comes to pass
-new character: interesting that theyre a rearmed but ok saitama face. people are saying maybe 4/5 next but i feel like it could be 17 (and add less royalty characters- maybe one of the younger siblings, the player character, side characters/enemy only? morion pls im politely asking). i think the best case scenario is theyre the queen from the past, that would be wholesome to have her actually meet kind friends in the alfr. kinda like another character i dont really have anything against her when she was a child- she kidnapped and forced children to work for her just bc they were poor and from a bad home life as an adult, but as a child she was abused by her peers and only treated well by her brother bc he wanted to marry her off to them. like her actually meeting nice people and getting standards would be great but idk if itll happen.
-also just fucking release that dirtbag in the next mythic. just let the memes die. im sick of this guy and ive been sick of him for years. glad hes not much plot relevant.
tldr the good news is i get to save orbs bc i spent them all on not getting shez wooo (sarcasm) (also donny is so pure im so glad hes the free unit!!!! get hype!!!)

“How Sexism Accidentally Forced Digimon into Writing its Lead into a Romantic Parallel with Another Boy (and How Tri Attempted to Fix It)”
All credit goes to @god-fucking-dammit-mizutani (especially regarding the amazing headline) and all the sources provided in the Taishirou discord. I’m gonna give you a summary on how it all plays out. I will also include a few of my own analysis posts to give additional perspectives. Disclaimer: Not everything is backed by official statements, some parts are really nothing more than unconfirmed fan theories - but it’s always fun to speculate.
Tumblr media
It all starts with an interview by Digimon Adventure series staff members Hiromi Seki, Hiroyuki Kakudou, and Yukio Kaizawa in the “Digimon Series Memorial Book: Digimon Animation Chronicle”, in which they explain some of the executive decisions made for the show. In this, they explain that they had to decide on how many characters the series should have, “three, five or seven. And then we figured, we wanted to have two female characters. For instance, in Super Sentai {japan's version of like power rangers}, if you have five characters, one of them will be a girl.” Kakudou even adds that “[n]owadays, even five-member teams have been leaning more towards having two girls, but that wasn’t the case back then.” It is a common concept flying around the internet that Digimon toy sales were mainly directed at boys and while this is not mentioned here, we can assume that there were underlying restrictions in the business of (kids) TV making regarding how many female characters could be added in comparison to male characters. So from the start, there had been an imbalance of 5 guys vs. 2 girls (Hikari was added much, much later in development) and even though Digimon had never been initially about romance, this may create some implications in the future, but we’ll get to that.
Kakudou specifically mentions how they didn’t want to use specific tropes and stereotypes for their characters and, instead “wanted to put things in that would be interesting to anyone, whether it were a children’s story or a movie, so we scattered the children’s personality traits all over the place.” This means for example that “[t]he oldest one would be the most unreliable, and the smartest one would be one of the third youngest. Just a little to throw you off the usual, conventional track.” And while the following is, obviously, not specifically mentioned, they also somewhat broke the tradition of pairing up the male main hero (Taichi) with the female main heroine (Sora). The epilogue of Adventure had been settled from the very beginning - and thus, it was already set in stone that Sora (main heroine) and Yamato (rival character) would be endgame. (Which, funnily enough, canonically rules both of them out as potential love interests for Taichi, even though from a storytelling/closeness/trope perspective, they would be the most logical choices as his female best childhood friend and his antithesis/rival/foil.) This means, from a heteronormative point of view, there are only two girls left - one of them, Hikari, being the male main character’s sister, and thus she is automatically ruled out as well. The other, Mimi, as much as she’s seen as a viable option in fandom, isn’t often seen interacting with Taichi and fills more of a supporting role in the background (mainly paired up with either Sora or Jyou) instead of driving the plot forward. Which means, technically, there is no potential love interest left for the male main character.
So who is actually left driving the plot alongside the adventurous hero protagonist? The tech guy, driven by curiosity and a natural affinity to wanting to figure things out (who was chosen not be a girl - although we gotta give props to 02 for including a tech genius in Miyako). Koushirou is seen being familiar with Taichi from the very beginning - and he is also the only one (besides Agumon, of course) who sees him at his most vulnerable, lowest point(s) in the series, being his main emotional support in the latest arc of Adventure. Was it an intentional choice to put another male character in the position of the emotional support of the  male main character? Probably not and there is no direct way of proving it, despite the simple observation that they’re depicted as remaining close beyond Adventure 01 - they’re not only the ones driving the plot of Our War Game, but are also the main mentor figures for the 02 kids.
However, one of the fan theories I like to mention frequently is the following: Digimon as a whole LOVES its parallels. For example, it parallels the male main protagonist and his rival being fueled in their development by their relationshps to their little siblings, who in turn both have angel Digimon as their partners and help their brothers to advance to Ultimate level. Digimon Adventure 01′s parallels become the most apparent in its final episodes, the Dark Masters arc. Without going into too much detail, there are two other characters besides the siblings in particular who can be seen as direct mirrors to each other as well as towards the hero protagonist and the rival: Sora and Koushirou: [In their way of trusting into Taichi and Yamato, it is easy to see them as parallels (...), metaphorically and visibly. Koushirou already affirmed his complete trust in Taichi in the Vamdemon Arc (...) and his entire role in the Dark Master’s Arc revolves around being his emotional support system. Sora is also staying by Taichi’s side (...) after reassuring the departing Yamato of her trust in him as well. Thus, she is actively taking on the role of watching over Takeru while Koushirou is simultaneously seen doing his best to reassure Hikari and ensure that she is safe (for Taichi’s sake). (...) They’re not only mirrors in supporting the respective main fighters (and their siblings) in the final arc - they are also seen as their primary support/assists in combat.] So whether it was intentional or not, they somehow managed to parallel the only canonically confirmed couple with the male main protagonist and his best friend.
Tumblr media
(Somewhat related to this, Koushirou was also, most likely unintentionally, written in a very gender defying way throughout 01 and 02, which may lead to some, also unintentional, female coding of his character - at least in context to Digimon being a piece written in the 1990s.)
The phrase “intentional or not” has been used a few times already. So the question remains: Do the writers in some way, shape or form confirm that they have written stuff like this on purpose - or rather themselves into a corner? There is at least one little comment made by staff members of the third Digimon Adventure Tri movie “Confession”, Takaaki Suzuki (setting researcher and scriptwriter), Yasuhiro Nakanishi (scriptwriter), which can be found in this interview:
Tumblr media
Regarding the character portrayal in Digimon Adventure Tri - at least in terms of the third movie - we are told two things here: 1. Changing the relationship dynamics between Taichi and Yamato was an actively made decision. 2. Bringing up Koushirou in this context and actively claiming that he “likes Taichi a little too much” is a pretty interesting statement coming out of nowhere. Because it basically confirms that something about the way they had been written must have appeared “odd” to the current team of writers. So that might be why it was specifically mentioned in this context. So what else has changed?
First of all, another character was added to Tri: Meiko Mochizuki, another female Chosen Child. Why is this important? Because it was specifically said by director Keitarou Motonaga that she, another female character, was added to “even the cast out”. However, the cast is, in fact, still not evened out. Taking only the main cast into consideration, there are now 5 male and 4 female characters. In itself, this is a good thing, because from a pure character view point, more characters make for generally more variable character dynamics and interactions.
However, Tri has quite a famous record on ship teasing when it comes to its main characters and while Digimon itself is (as mentioned) NOT a series focusing on romance, one might be able to see undertones scattered across. Sora and Yamato for example: Despite knowing that they had become a couple in 02 and that they’d end up marrying each other, they were never explicitly referred to as being together throughout the course of all six Tri movies. Instead, staff member Shuuhei Arai (producer of Tri) said that “it’s not like there are any official relationships going on between them [and Taichi]”. (Which, ironically enough, gives Taito a lot of room to breathe on its own as well - and it shows.) So everything is kept pretty low-key...
Tumblr media
... And the same can basically be said about the other “relationships”, they’ve been playing it safe and never confirmed anything, only teased, whereas the epilogue was never supposed to be changed. Again, this is complete fan speculation, but from a purely observing point of view, there has been teasing in terms of Takeru and Hikari developing feelings for each other, even though it was confirmed that they won’t end up together in the epilogue. The same can be said about Taichi and Meiko, who, from a fan’s perspective, CAN potentially be seen as love interests throughout Tri - which obviously doesn’t necessarily mean that Meiko was added to fill that role, since it’s at least stated that she hasn’t been meant to be his future wife in the epilogue. Said epilogue had never been intended to be changed in the first place (so Sorato would always have remained endgame, even though the vagueness of Tri even allowed for speculation that Meiko could have ended up with Yamato - or even Mimi for that matter, in terms of how many affections were shared on screen). However, for the sake of perception, it’s still interesting to look at the way ships gain popularity due to their framing, regardless of whether they’re confirmed as canon or not.
So we have three characters left: Koushirou, Jyou and Mimi. Which makes it quite clear that the cast wasn’t evened out. So how did they solve this? They gave Jyou a girlfriend outside of the group, which was never shown and joked about whether she was even real in the first place - so potentially, he could still be seen as love interest for Mimi. Mimi however, at least in the Digimon Adventure Tri stageplay (SPOILER), confirms that she doesn’t have feelings for anyone.
Then we have Koushirou... And this is gonna be both the biggest reach of this theory as well as its final conclusion: As stated above, the writers have potentially discovered that he likes the male main character “a little too much”. So what to do, what to do? Step 1.) Create an additional female character (Meiko) to (potentially) pair up with the male main character (Taichi). Step 2.) Change the general character dynamics, make Taichi and Yamato become closer and keep Taichi and Koushirou, who used to be depicted as very close friends, apart as much as possible. Step 3.) Make Koushirou so unmistakenly heterosexual, make him crush so hard on another female character (Mimi) in such an obvious way that there can’t be any doubt about it. Whether or not his behaviour in Tri can be seen as consistent with his previous character development is up to debate, but it is notable to at least some extent that he was pushed into a (comic relief) role so consistently (throughout the first two movies at least).
The interesting part is that, according to the first promotional material and the course of the first movie, it didn’t even seem that apparent that Taichi and Koushirou were purposely being kept apart. Quite the opposite: Both promotional art and interviews depicted them to still be close, even going so far as to show Koushirou giving Taichi a (supposedly quite pricey) gift for Christmas (and asking him whether he wants to go to the event together. From the Sorato confession scene in 02, we know that giving presents on Christmas Eve and basically asking for a date is QUITE a big deal in Japan).
Tumblr media
So the fact that Koushirou’s focus movie, being the third in the series from which the “he likes Taichi too much” comment stems from, barely featured Taichi interacting with him, is quite suspicious.
So in conclusion, tldr:
If they had created a more even cast and made another female character more plot-related from the beginning, they could have avoided the unintentional parallel that subjected their male main character into a (potentially) queer romance. And they may have been able to avoid the ship teasing (and bending of characterisations and relationship dynamics) in Tri altogether.
Disclaimer: This is neither meant to be anti-Meiko or anti-Mimi in any way, shape or form, those were just observations we found pretty interesting to look at.

In honor of Super Sentai's 45th Anniversary, Kamen Rider's 50th Anniversary, and Ultraman's 55th Anniversary these aren't even a fraction of the anniversary's we've had this year
TRIVISER
Wasn't sure if I should submit this now or during Christmas, but now I figure show it him just before the year ends.
Happy New Year!! 🎊🎆
LOVE this design obviously, but if I had to nitpick anything, he should really be wearing a belt of some kind - but I guess that's something the original artist can add latter. Also his weapon is supposed to be a wand/staff thing.
What's your favorite Tokusatsu? And if don't have one yet - Find One. Please.
