V.P. (2023), a short (anti-)erotic thriller about a 🌽 video that drives its viewers to madness. It's the short I'm most proud of so far, an Information Age horror about about desire, evolution and New Media.
It's influenced strongly by the legacy of distinctly 21st century phenomena like Creepypastas and horrortubers, and as such it's also very much about looking down the barrel of the 21st century and attempting to craft narrative from a uniquely horrific modern world.
"Heed my warning: there is no telling this story without becoming a part of it."

This film is literally Midsommar but make it girlboss. Or The Witch but make it a sisterhood. Seriously, I have nothing but love for this weird short horror film about women supporting women!!!

i cannot believe i havent talked about playground by rodrigo sousa. yall have to check this out
youtube
cw for unsettling imagery and horror
"playground" is a conceptual trailer for a horror project animator rodrigo sousa wants to make, either as a short series or short film. sousa did all animation with jérémy ben ammar who did the sound design and music.
its cool as fuck. the horror in it isn't gore-y, instead trying to focus on unsettling as hell creature designs and terrifying atmosphere. it's similar in genre to "little nightmares".
it's so fucking good just watch it!!!!

Tumblr, I have one question:
How in the WORLD are you staying away from short horror films on youtube?! Because- I just watched this AMAZING short horror film duo 'TRICK or TREAT' and 'TRICK or TREAT 2' and it features a serial killing skeleton-magician killer! (Spoilers ahead GO WATCH IF YOU WANT, ALSO TW/GORE AND KNIVES)
Tumblr media
Thing about this dude, he is completely silent. Much similar to Micheal Myers in a way accept he doesn't do the Darth Vader heaving. He is silent as DEATH itself! He only comes around on Halloween when a porch light is on and you BETTER have some candy, because this guy has QUITE the sweet tooth! If you happen to be out of candy? I'm sure giving him practically ANYTHING sweet will suffice, or hell, even taking him with you to get more! I mean, it's a either he's fed, or you're dead kinda schtick.
What dissappoints me about this guy however is. His. Name. He's called, 'The Magician' in the description, which I mean- don't get me wrong! He is a magician. A killer magician... Buuuuuuut.. What IF he had a name like, 'The Doorstopper?' Hell- in the first short film he actually DOES stop the door from closing with his foot because he was like, "Uh excuse me?! I'm supposed to have candy in my hat, right here, RIGHT now! You left your porch lights on!! You know the rules, pay the fee!"
In OTHER words...
"he won't leave until he either tricks you to death... Or until he gets that treat. It's your fault for leaving your porch lights on..."

Zombi 1 (1995)
A lovely little 15-minute pastiche that combines the aesthetics of Night of the Living Dead with the themes and style of Italian zombie movies. There seems to be some kind of convoluted plot that's never explained, and all of the dialogue is awkward and poorly dubbed, sometimes barely even lining up with the action... these aren't complaints, these are the things that have been lovingly translated from films like Zombi 2... or 3, or 4, or 5. The opening credits are even in Italian, despite being an English-language Dutch production. If you like Italian zombie movies—and who doesn't?—you'll probably also enjoy this.
7/10

One of my fave short horror films that’s actually been made into a full film. It’ll be released on streaming services soon.

THE RIVER
The opening image establishes the level of quality you’ll get through the rest of the film, that being on par with many feature horror films you find on streamers. While the film starts strong and fizzles out a bit at the end, the overall execution of the story, along with the creepy special effects and makeup work, really make this an enjoyable film to watch for the Halloween season. At the very least, you won’t want to kayak alone down a river by yourself, after watching this.

Just found this short horror film and I fucking LOVE it!! Just a warning, there's gore (all localized to the face), but the twist at the end makes it SO worth it.

Most straight men making short horror films can’t seem to dig any deeper into the depths of terror than, “What if there was a guy?! 👀”

"Winston" Short Film Review - Frenzied & Tense
A lonely man living in a snowy isolated village begins to write anxious letters to his brother in the short horror film "Winston".
⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rating: 4 out of 5. There’s a soft tick-tick like whirring in the background as the protagonist of the short horror film “Winston” begins to narrate letters he has been writing to his brother Marcus. They are desperate dispatches where Winston describes his descent into madness, even though he insists he is sane, although the cold harsh winter might be playing tricks with his…
