A Weird Way of Bonding
Tumblr media
Shino Aburame X Gn!Reader
Description: As a way of bonding, Shino lets his bugs crawl over your skin so they get to know you
Warnings: Bugs, a whole lot of bugs crawling over your skin, established relationship, apart from that just fluff, but beware of the bugs
There were at least 200 bugs crawling around on your arm, their legs and little hairs tickling you. The thought of letting insects crawl around on your body was certainly not a pleasing thought, but it seemed important to Shino, so you decided to suck it up and let them.
"They like you", Shino told you in his deep voice.
While having a spare insect or two crawl over you after cuddling with Shino was nothing new, having a good two dozen walk into your sleeve, over your torso was definitely new.
"Thank you for doing this", your boyfriend eventually filled the silence. "Not many would be willing to".
"I can imagine. To be quite honest, the thought did irk me at first, too, but I know how much it means to you. A small sacrifice for our relationship" You give him a small smile, trying to comfort him and placing a hand over his.
"Is it a clan tradition or just in general important for them to get used to me?", you ask, wanting to figure out just why exactly you're putting yourself through this.
"It's like sharing a part of myself with you, so clan tradition fits the term nicely", he answers, removing an insect from your hair and placing it on your shoulder.
"Well, over time I have gotten used to bugs over all over me. Though this amount is certainly... new."
You chuckle nervously, remembering the one of the first times you cuddled, only to realise a whole bunch of insects on your forearm. One of the parts of dating an Aburame man.
After that you two just sit in silence, the small legs of Shino's pets crawling over you, tickling your skin. After some time he let them crawl back into his coat, deciding that it was enough time spent between him, you and his bugs.
"Thank you", he says simply, pressing a soft kiss onto your forehead.
"You're more than welcome"

Exposure Therapy (Shino x Reader)
Request:
Tumblr media
Word Count: 1.3k
Tags/Warnings: Entomophobia, Insects, Large Amounts of Bugs on You, A Shibi Feature!!, Alcohol, Hangover
Notes: It’s actually kinda gross, so if you’re squeamish when it comes to insects, maybe sit this one out. This ultimately took on more Shibi than I expected.
Tumblr media
You could’ve cried. You would have if it weren’t for the emptied, vacated streets. The surrounding area had been completely deserted, except for you, Shino, and a few thousand rogue Aburame beetles. It was just you and an absolutely wasted, nearly unconscious Shino who leaked beetles like water.
“Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god,” you were practically flinching as you supported Shino from under his arm. You quickly shut your mouth as you felt the sensation of tiny legs at the edge of your lips. He was heavier than he looked, although you should have expected as much with his height and still fully equipped vest. Together, you lumbered through the streets.
Shino’s beetles covered every inch of the surrounding area, completely morphing fences and rooftops. The light above you flickered, casting the shadow of a moving, shambling mass onto the pavement below. You were not immune to the infestation, extremely aware of all the little legs that tickled their way through your hair and under your collar.
You had popped in your standard-issue earplugs before you left the bar with Shino, which proved wise as the insects clung to the shell of your ear. It was for the better. You knew the experience would have been much worse if you could hear the churning of exoskeleton on exoskeleton. A few of them clung to the window of your goggles, along for the ride as you returned Shino to the only place you thought to take him.
To your surprise, Shibi didn’t seem bothered by being woken up in the dead of night. He stared down at you from the front door of the Aburame residence, absolutely covered from head to toe in beetles. They seemed to march from Shino directly to you. Shibi couldn’t even see an inch of flesh or fabric on the side that supported Shino. Only one of your eyes was visible behind your goggles. You swiped beetles away from your mouth.
“I’m sorry to wake you, sir!” you said a bit louder than necessary. “I don’t know what happened! He had two sips of something, and he completely collapsed! I didn’t know where to go!”
Shibi took you in, and you heaved Shino to his room together. You laid him out on top of his sheets, and for the next hour, Shibi proceeded to scoop Shino’s beetles off of you into a cardboard box he had plopped under Shino’s arm. He cleared them away with indescribable confidence, talking palmfuls upon palmfuls of insects to shake off into the box.
“Do you think he was drugged?” you glanced at Shibi nervously, alarmed by his lack of urgency at his son’s medical state. Beetles fluttered around, spanning out across the small room. He shook his head.
“No, just another Aburame man who can’t hold his liquor.” He frowned, a contrast to your nervous laugh.
“He didn’t even drink. He had maybe a sip of beer if that.” Shibi stopped. You could see the slightest bit of his eyes as his glasses slipped down his nose.
“Shino should have known better then.”
The rest of the beetle removal was made in silence. You excused yourself to the restroom to grab the stragglers from under your clothes before returning with about forty beetles collected in a jar. Shibi shook them into the box before gently covering it with a lid. Insects continued to pass in and out through the two side holes.
“These aren’t poisonous, are they?” you asked, the thought suddenly dawning on you. Shibi passed you, slipping out the door just down the hall to the kitchen. He motioned for you to follow.
“I wouldn’t worry about it,” he answered. Not the most reassuring. Shibi lit the stove with a match before sliding a heavy-looking kettle over the fire. He turned to you as you stood in the doorway, your tactical vest hanging over your arm. “You don’t have to stay, of course, but I do enjoy a late-night cup of tea myself.” He gave you a curt nod as he turned to take out cups.
You sat down at the chabudai. Shibi placed down two cups before fetching the tea to pour. Hot steam wafted up into the air. He sat down across from you.
“I remember you from the Academy,” Shibi mused, sipping his tea. You gave your cup a light touch to find it pleasantly at the perfect temperature.
“Oh?” you hummed, not entirely remembering the sort of impression you gave at age five. Shibi gave another nod as he set his cup down gently on the table.
“Yes, I always thought you were a poor little thing. Cried at the sight of me every time.” You remembered as soon as he said it. As young as you were, you didn’t quite remember who caused you so much distress at Academy pick-up time, and the memory rushed straight back to you. Your face froze in dread as you wracked your head for a response. You must’ve made a face. Shibi only chuckled, extending a hand over the table as if to physically wave off your worry. “Those old Aburame gourds sure made a lot of ruckus for battle. Good for scaring off enemies. Maybe not so great for little kids.”
“I’m very sorry, Mr. Aburame,” you said, head instinctually bowed a bit forward. He waved you off again as he nursed his tea.
“No need, please. We, as humans, evolved to have a certain wariness of insects. It’s why they’re so effective on the field.” Shibi chuckled to himself again. He moved to take another sip from his tea but stopped short. He held his cup in both hands halfway up to his mouth. “Thank you for bringing my son home. You’ve always treated Shino well. You certainly have my gratitude.”
You parted your lips before closing them again, once again at a loss for words.
“We’re… close.” You opted, hoping that Shibi wouldn’t pry too hard.
He didn’t ask at all.
***
Shino woke up with the worst, most raging hangover.
It was well into the afternoon by the time he mustered up the energy to leave his room for something to eat. He had stripped off his jacket and gear, leaving them haphazardly around his room. Shibi was already in the kitchen, an assortment of foods in various stages of preparation scattered around him.
“Dad?” Shino rubbed his eyes, the light hurting his head as he trudged through the doorway. An array of fresh vegetables from the garden sat in baskets across the counter. “Is it a holiday?”
“Your friend is coming for dinner. The one who brought you home last night.” Shibi placed a small bowl of clear soup in Shino’s hands. “Eat this; it will make you feel much better.”
Shino didn’t have the energy to deny him. He slumped down at the chabudai where you sat the night before, pushing away rising doughs and covered greens to make enough room for him to eat. Shibi placed a large glass of warm water in front of him.
“Why are we having a feast?” Shino grumbled, his fatigued head not quite understanding.
“I want the poor little thing to come back. Good conversation is hard to come by.” Shibi ran his knuckles across the side of Shino’s face, humming disapprovingly. “You need to shave. I’m doing this for your sake, so you best clean yourself up.” Shino massaged his forehead, keeping his head down to avoid the glare from the window.
“Not so loud, please.”
Shibi scoffed, returning to his cooking.
“A beer,” he muttered. “What were you thinking?”
“It won’t happen again.” Shino stood, his empty bowl in his hand as he lumbered toward the sink. Shibi turned to snatch the bowl from his hand with a hum.
“You wouldn’t be my son if you didn’t have to see things for yourself. Go wash up now. We have lots of preparation to do.”
Shino shuffled out of the kitchen with a new promise to swear off alcohol.
Thank you to all who liked, reblogged, followed, and supported. Your support means so much and is greatly appreciated.
Notes: Wow, the poc experience really seeped through on this one. I’d like to think that Shino just turned of age and didn’t know what his reaction would be to alcohol. Also, I kept thinking of that one lady who saves bees and just takes handfuls of them and scoops them into travel hives haha

A comprehensive guide as to why Aburame Shino is peak Autistic Representation
Very long post under the cut!
Tumblr media
( This is poorly organized and doesn't actually include everything, but you know :] )
It starts with the flashback to when Torune was taken and flashbacks to early academy days, during which Shino is about 7.
He showed no interest in playing with other children, or in making friends. He didn't see a point in talking to people who didn't want to discuss his special interest, which he dedicated all his free time to, and he didn't emote when Torune was taken away, even though it impacted him very deeply. Even as a small child he talked "like an adult", monotonous, strange phrasing, over-explaining, and too quietly. When he wasn't being ignored by his classmates, they were trying to use him.
Tumblr media
Later on when you see him socialize more, in Pre-Teen and Teenage years, more things become apparent.
In general he seems semi-verbal, most of the time silent, and becomes agitated when forced to repeat himself. Konoha Hiden expands on this, saying that he wishes people just knew what he meant and felt without him having to talk, and that he is bonded to Akamaru because he feels that Akamaru is the only one who he can communicate with in that way. When he's upset he isolates and at one point is even seen hitting his head when he was trying to cool down and was interrupted by unwanted social interaction.
Tumblr media
He doesn't understand why people need to see his face, and usually doesn't look in the direction of the person he is addressing. He also doesn't understand jokes, rarely laughs, and angrily dissects puns…but then later puns become his entire sense of humor. He's never dressed for the season, either. Aburames tend to be very covered up by default but besides his Part 1 outfit he is always in multiple layers regardless of the season. (Year round trench coats are a huge autistic stereotype.) He gets along better with people outside of his age group, respected by adults and looked up to by younger kids who think he is cool and knowledgeable. Konoha Hiden also states that during this period he was suffering with comorbid Anxiety and Depression.
There's a lot of black and white thinking on display, for example he is anti-alcohol-- obviously he would have been taught not to drink as an Aburame, but he also doesn't like when others drink. He sees it as universally bad. He's a stickler for the rules and often scolds his peers for not following rules and guidelines. He also seems like a bit of a prude even though it is suggested that he himself has a dirty mind (noticing girls' cup sizes and the implications of Road to Ninja treating his Personal Business as a personality trait) which is a funny hypocrisy I have noticed in a lot of autistic people. He holds a hell of a grudge and ruminates endlessly, which is documented at higher rates in autistic people due to rigid thinking.
Tumblr media
He is trying to make friends like Torune wanted, and is now aware that not having friends is a bad thing. He starts feeling the pain of being ostracized not only in general but also by his friend group and isn't even sure if he has friends. He is 17 years old before he understands what allistics consider friend status.
We start to see some of his sensory issues pop up too. He is seen wearing sunglasses even at night and while sleeping. He hates any food that smells strongly and his favorites are pretty bland. He pulls a piece of meat out of his mouth, in public, uncharacteristically violating taboo. He was able to identify the number of people in a distant group only by sound at a time when this would have been above his skill level. (Which makes sense. Team 8 is thus Eyes, Ears, Nose. More on this later.) By Boruto, he has added ear protection and stronger eye protection that he wears when he is expecting to be near fluorescent lights or crowds. Suddenly his overall mood is greatly improved and he can smile openly.
Tumblr media
He shows signs of hyperempathy in being overly distressed when losing insects, as he has many millions of them, and having an exaggerated physical response to anticipating Sakura and Naruto's despair.
Tumblr media
He has chronic bitchy resting face and is extremely blunt to a a degree of being insulting, which makes people assume he is a mean person. He also comes across as pedantic to his peers, when from his perspective he's just didactic, and even though he over-explains everything his peers still have difficulty understanding what he's saying.
He will also randomly connect the topic of discussion to his special interest and begin infodumping about bugs, and isn't aware that people around him are not interested or worse, repulsed by his special interest until told, at which point he feels personally hurt. Generally his interests are very stereotypical of an autistic person: bugs, comics, ecology, strategy, etc.
He seems level-headed and robotically analytical until he reaches a certain threshold when he suddenly over-emotes in dramatic and awkward ways.
Tumblr media
You might notice that when his hands aren't in his pockets, he doesn't seem to know what to do with them; they're always balled into fists, which smells of someone who was taught not to stim. Even so, when he gets really excited in Konoha Hiden and is being himself, he starts spinning around. His speech quirk preceding frequent over-explanations (Why? Because... / The reason is because...) is also considered a type of echolalia.
Tumblr media
Mentioning Hiden, in the Blank Period we start to see changes associated with the autistic experience of starting to understand that you are awkward, not knowing how to fix it, and all the anxiety that comes with that. He is stuck riding the lag train and is fully ready to become a hermit in the woods.
He isn't understood in the way that he wants to be understood. He can't let himself get comfortable in other people's homes. He uses his trench coat as a barrier between himself and other people, treating it like a security blanket. He still doesn't understand how his choice of attire affects people's perception of him and becomes agitated when he's told it makes him look suspicious. He doesn't appear to be pursuing any intimate relationships, and displays a lack of boundaries when picking Choji up with his insects when he gets excited.
The lag train becomes even more apparent in Boruto. He hasn't found a partner, his friends are growing even further away from him, and possibly worst of all he's seen as more childish-- too grown-up as a kid, too immature as an adult.
Tumblr media
He is masking extremely heavily for the sake of his career, mirroring Iruka, removing almost all of his personal identity from his appearance including the parts that made him feel safe-- everything has to be professional. This actually hurts his ability to work with kids because he already knew how to talk to them, but he is now trying to emulate the image of a teacher for the sake of professionalism.
In the classroom he struggles with things I have seen real-life autistic teachers talk about: He works well with the younger kids, they love him and his fun facts, but the older ones can tell that there is something different about him and they will ignore or outright bully him. It's very difficult to control them or hold their interest. (He later develops stomach problems due to stress from working with said older kids)
Tumblr media
The big problem is that he is not good at masking. In traditional settings with very clearly defined roles and rules of how to act and what to say he gets by just fine, but in organic interactions it's nothing but spaghetti and this causes him severe stress. He is proud of himself for being able to speak to many people in a day now but at what cost? Pattern recognition and rigid thinking of course leads to rumination spirals, and under extreme pressure he starts reverting to childish things. He has only had Kura-maa a short time before he becomes attached and starts personifying it. This may seem childish, but autistic people are more likely to do this and will continue to do so later into life than their allistic peers. (See Object Personification in Autism: This paper will be very sad if you don’t read it)
Tumblr media
He has become a real people-pleaser, allowing himself to be imposed upon constantly, and apologizes excessively even for situations that were not his fault, which are both behaviors many autistic people pick up. And, for all his masking, he can't hide that he is still terrible at understanding and constructing metaphors, ie "bad insects" and the yakisoba bun analogy.
Tumblr media
He is trying his damnedest to adapt and accommodate himself in a rapidly changing world that wasn't very friendly to him to begin with. He was able to slide under the radar as respectable and somewhat normal when the world was as rigid as he is. Now every day he's facing new challenges that he isn't used to and he's acting a little fucked up and neurotic, overcompensating and making it worse.
So yeah, maybe he's not 'cool' by most standards. Not everyone gets a happy ending where they become the most ideal version of themselves. Not in real life, and not in animes that have hundreds of characters. What's important is that he is exactly on the trajectory set by previous installments to the series and very accurately and thoroughly depicting autistic struggles in every aspect of life. And that's pretty cool to me. :)

Guard Dog (Shino x Reader)
Synopsis: You took care of him in your childhood at his most vulnerable. Now, Shino wants to do the same for you.
Word Count: 1k

Notes: Have you ever noticed that whenever one of my Readers gets injured it’s always the... same injury? Me too.
Tumblr media
You’d take it to the grave; he knew you would. That’s why he entrusted you with his care. Not being a medical ninja, you threw together all the home remedies you could think of. It was a sleepless night.
Shino still remembered the next morning when he was finally feeling a bit more like himself— albeit a bit sore. He woke up to the hazy blue that dawn cast upon the early morning. You lay curled on his floor, your head barely on his shikibuton as you slept. He took in the shape of your nose, your chin. Loose hairs fanned out from your bandana over the woven fabrics. Cups, crushed herbs, and wrappers sat scattered around you, evidence of your rigorous endeavors the night before. Maybe all of your little efforts amounted to enough to clear the poison. Or perhaps, Shino wondered, his body cleared on its own. For your labor, he would like to consider the first option.
And in Shino’s twisted concept of loyalty, you had proven yourself ten times over.
Years had gone by since then. The war and the Allied Shinobi Forces' strife had come and gone, and you treated Shino with the same formality you always did.
You passed each other on the battlefield or during a patrol or two during reconstruction. You greeted him with a cordial smile, and he acknowledged you with a stoic nod, all memories from your childhood distant as you entered adulthood. But Shino always kept you in one manner or another, holding you in the corner of his eye when you were near. His thankfulness, like many other things, remained unspoken.
He couldn’t help but notice how similar you looked, recalling the night you had fallen asleep caring for him. You lay sprawled out on the forest floor. He took in the shape of your eyes and the blood dribble pouring from your lip. Sakura knelt over you, holding a blood-soaked rag to your side wound as green light cast harsh shadows on your face. Fallen leaves mixed with your hair.
Shino stood tall and alert, listening for the subtlest noises in the trees. Sakura caught his tinted eyes, glancing briefly down at you before giving a small shake of her head. There wouldn’t be any way to retreat while you were injured. Sakura switched out the saturated rag with a clean one, the used towel making a heavy, wet plopping sound as it landed on the ground. Your blood seeped into the dirt.
Shino stared at the scene, and instantly, his entire swarm emerged. Bursting from underneath his jacket, beetles rapidly enveloped the nearby landscape. They surrounded the three of you in a circle. The multitude marched outwards, almost multiplying by the hundreds as Shino sent them into the surrounding woods. The carpet of insects moved swiftly, enveloping every log, leaf, and tree like a creeping plague.
Even as they fell out of Sakura’s sight, she could hear the anguished screams of enemy scouts. As dusk fell, she could hear an occasional thump in the distance. The sound of corpses falling out of trees.
The sun had set by the time Sakura got you stabilized. Without proper equipment— not to mention working on a bed of dirt— the feat took longer than she had anticipated. Your injuries were severe. She collapsed beside you, arms outstretched as dried blood stained her hands. She wiped her brow with her forearm.
Shino’s large form hovered over her, a canteen in his outstretched hand. She cupped her palms together, allowing Shino to pour a steady stream of fresh water and powdered disinfectant onto her stained hands. The stream traveled toward the fire Shino had made, the moisture sucked up between the ground and the heat.
“Take a rest,” he told her, maneuvering to where you lay. Shino sat at your side, elbows resting on his bent knees. He studied every shallow breath and labor of your chest. Leaning carefully over you, he pressed an ear to your heart.
“It’ll be okay, Shino,” Sakura said, wrapping herself in a blanket on the other side of the fire. “We’ll get to a hospital in the morning after I’ve ensured everything’s still stable. You should rest too.” He hummed, not quite acknowledging her, and not too long after, Sakura fell asleep from exhaustion.
Shino kept watch as the fire crackled. It was about all that made noise in the forest that night. There were no birds or bugs, just the sound of the fire and your light breathing.
Your eyes cracked open sometime in the night. Shino sat where he had been, keeping an eye on the dark woods that surrounded him.
“Shino?” It came out barely as a whisper. His head snapped towards you, maintaining his alertness. He leaned forward to get a better look at your face. “We got it… right?” The corners of your lips began to tug up into a smile, faltering.
“Yes, we did,” he said, as matter of factly as usual. “Sleep; we’re moving out in the morning.” He returned to where he sat and stared into the darkness again.
“Is it just you on watch—?” You attempted to sit up, to which Shino swiftly placed a hand on your shoulder. You remained where you laid.
“Sakura was working on you for a few hours. She needs her rest.” A small beetle crawled up Shino’s cheek and under his glasses. “I do not need rest.” You opened your mouth to protest, but he cut you off. His voice grew softer and quieter than usual. “You did the same for me… a long time ago.”
You thought to yourself, gaze cast off to the side until it dawned on you.
“That one mission with Naruto,” you spoke, and Shino nodded slightly. “That was a long time ago.” You watched the fire flicker in the reflection of his glasses.
“Was it?” He stared off somewhere else, still alert for anything that could threaten your squad in the trees. With the radius Shino cleared, you wouldn’t encounter another person your whole way home.
“Thank you, Shino,” you rasped. “I know I can always count on you.” You mustered what little strength you could to brush your fingers against his. His thumb gently traced your knuckles, paying no mind to the dried blood on your skin.
“I was just thinking the same thing.”
Silence overtook the night again as Shino kept an eye on the woods.
Thank you to all who liked, reblogged, followed and otherwise supported. Your support means so much and is greatly appreciated.
Notes: Dare I say that Shino is a bit... creepy in this?? OOOO spooky!! I made it dark and then I had to remember to make it kinda cute

Shino x reader
Warning: g/n reader, cute shino
Word count : 362
Characters: shino, you
Note: here’s some live for my sweet love shino, if you have any ideas or requests don’t be shy ! Next one will probably NSFW~ish. I’m sorry it’s short…
Tumblr media
You were walking through the forest, enjoying the peacefulness of your surroundings. Suddenly, you heard noises in the bushes. You tensed up, ready to fight if necessary. However, a familiar figure appeared - it was Shino Aburame.
"Hello, [Name]," he said in his usual monotone voice.
"Hey, Shino. What brings you here?" you asked.
"Taking a walk with my bugs. What about you?"
"I was looking for my necklace, I lost it during my last training" you replied.
There was a moment of silence between you two until Shino spoke up again.
"My bugs found it earlier today, while I was walking ?" he said holding it for you to take.
"Thank you ! Want to take a walk with me ? " You thanked him, feeling a smile creep onto your face. You and Shino had been friends for a while, but you had always admired him from afar. Now, you had a chance to spend some time with him alone.
As you walked, you talked about various things - missions, friends, and even your hobbies. You were surprised to find out that Shino had a passion for gardening. You could sense his excitement as he talked about the different plants he had grown.
"Maybe you can teach me how to garden sometime," you said, smiling up at him.
"I would be happy to," he replied, turning to face you.
You two stopped walking, and you found yourself staring into Shino's dark sunglasses. You couldn't read his expression, but you felt a strange sensation in your chest.
Suddenly, Shino leaned in and pressed his lips to yours. You were taken aback at first but quickly melted into the kiss. It was soft and gentle, yet passionate.
When you finally pulled away, you were both breathless.
"I've wanted to do that for a long time," Shino admitted, his voice slightly shaky.
You smiled, feeling your heart swell with happiness.
"I'm glad you did," you replied.
From that day on, you and Shino started dating. You learned more about him every day and fell deeper in love with him. You couldn't believe that the quiet and reserved Aburame ninja had stolen your heart.
Thank you for reading !

Bother | Shino Aburame X GNReader
Masterlist
| REQUESTED, being fed up with Ino, unedited
| "Hey, sorry to bother you." "You're not bothering me! Why would you think that?"
Word Count: 792
Tumblr media
“Hey, sorry to bother you.”
You look up with wide eyes from the garden bed. You quickly shake your head upon seeing who it is and smile reassuringly at him. "You're not bothering me! Why would you think that?"
You sit back on your heels, pulling your hands out of the dirt and brushing your hands off rather unceremoniously on your pants.
He doesn’t look as if he believes you, taking in your slightly startled expression as annoyance. He’d been sent to gather some herbs and simply hands you the list Ino had passed him. “I seem to bother everyone else…” He clears his throat and nods to the list in your hand now, “I can help, I just… I’m unfamiliar with two of those herbs there.”
Your heart aches at his answer but with his change of subject, you don’t really have time to think or react to what he’s said. You glance at the list, only for your face to contort in confusion.
“What?”
“These two don’t exist… At least now in our region. We can’t even recreate the climate here that they need to grow. That’s how fickle they are.” You look up at him, expecting him to be indifferent only to see that he was rather annoyed.
“Oh now I see why she sent me here.” It was like a lightbulb had just gone off in his head. The real reason Ino had been asking specifically him to hand everything the last few weeks. She’s made excuses that Shikamaru refused, which he probably had, and that Choji would taste test everything, which he probably would.
He couldn’t blame her for asking someone else, but he now realizes the real reason to choose him had a lot to do with his crush on you. On someone he didn’t get along with at first because you’d threatened to spray pesticides in the greenhouse if you caught anymore of his bugs munching on your precious flowers. But over time, he grew more fond of you and you of him and his bugs.
“Huh?”
“Ino. She sent me on purpose this time. She has to have the knowledge that you wouldn’t have these two.” He runs a hand over his face before taking the list back from you, turning to leave the greenhouse without another word.
The next time you see him is days later. You’re tending to one of the hanging plants in the back of the greenhouse when you hear his footsteps on the gravel behind you. You sigh, expecting to see anyone else but him after he’d stormed off. “Oh, Shino!”
“Sorry to bother you.”
“You’re not a bother. I really wish you’d stop calling yourself that.” You glance at the folded up strip of paper in his hand. “Let me guess. Another wild goose hunt from Ino?” You smile and hold a hand out for the paper, expecting him to hand it over. When he doesn’t, you tilt your head confused. “What’s wrong?”
“I couldn’t… I know I wouldn’t be able to find the words to explain this to you. So I wrote it down, but Ino said my handwriting was too sloppy so she rewrote it for me. I’m not good with words, I hope you understand. But I want you to wait to read this. Wait until I’m gone. I’ll be back in two weeks from my mission and I hope to have a positive reaction from you.”
He hands the note over and leaves without a word. You’re stunned. He never usually talks that much during a visit. Then again, that’s not where your focus should be. It should be on the note in your hand.
Just like he asked, you don’t open the note until he’s left the Village. You sit on a dirtied bench in the greenhouse, unfolding the piece of paper and gasping as you read the confession from the man.
On the day the man was set to return, you’re waiting at the gates, pacing back and forth for the most part, awaiting his arrival back home to the village. You’d taken the day off from the greenhouse, opting to dress nice for the man despite the fact that he’d probably be in a less than favorable condition, smelly and covered in grime.
In his letter, he’d asked you to wait at the gates on the designated date and time he would return if you felt the same way about him that he felt about you. So when he sees you standing there, bickering quietly with Naruto who’d attempted to get into the basket of treats you prepared for Shino twice now, he can’t help the smile that forms on his face. The first of many during his time with you.

You huffed as you pushed another oversized leaf out of your face. It was hot, you were sticky with sweat and growing more uncomfortable by the second—it didn’t help that your mission partner was not only completely oblivious, but he seemed relatively unbothered by the environment despite wearing a long sleeved, black shirt and bright orange pants. Not to mention the two of you had yet to even see the criminal you were sent out there to get in the first place. A cold shower, your AC unit, and your handsome boyfriend were all you wanted to think about.
“Oi, Naruto, slow down. We won’t be able to find him if we’re speeding through here.”
“Its fine, its fine, ya know. If we go faster, we’ll find him faster.”
“No, I don’t think that’s how—”
“There he is! Hey, you! Stop right there!”
“Ah, Naruto wait a minute!”
The chase didn’t take very long, despite Naruto doing his own thing, as he always did. You stood beside the unconscious, and tied up, man as you waited for the rest of the team that Naruto went to notify. “Damn mosquitos,” you muttered as your hand shooed another away from your skin before it could land. “Uhg, I hate this place.”
Another couple of bugs tried to get to you and you swatted them away, trying your best not to kill them. “Why don’t you go after the unconscious guy instead?”
“Oi,” Naruto called your name as he approached. “Let’s go, we’re gathering over there.”
“I’m more than ready.” As you turned to start heading toward the meeting area, you felt that telltale pinch of a bug bite and sighed in exasperation as you turned to swat the mosquito away. When you saw it, you paused. It didn’t look like a mosquito. It was large and long, brown with red stripes along its carapace, and you stared at it in shock as it continued to bite you.
“Ah!” Naruto yelled and squashed the bug against your skin. Bug guts and blood splattered on your flesh as the blonde looked at you incredulously. “What the hell was that, are you okay?”
“I think so?” You wiped away the guts and squashed carcass to check on the bug bite. Nothing looked out of the ordinary, it seemed like a typical mosquito bite, so you shrugged and nodded. “Let’s just go meet up with everyone.”
A few days later found you laying underneath your home fan, still sweltering despite having arrived back the day before. The Sixth had given your team a few days off to rest, and you gladly accepted hoping to relax and unwind while you could, but how were you supposed to do that when you were still so hot? You felt warm all over, sweating and flushed from head to toe. You’d never before felt so gross in your life.
You styled your hair to be as far from your neck as possible, you felt less nauseated when cold air brushed against your nape. Along with the intense heat was an incredible thirst that no amount of water, milk, soda, or juice could quench. Never before had you felt so miserable. All you could think to do before was soak yourself in as cold of a bath as you possible could, but as you laid there having only experienced a small amount of temporary relief, you noticed how inflamed your most recent bug bite had gotten. “Maybe I should go to the hospital after all,” you muttered to yourself.
Redressing was taxing, the clothes felt sweltering, despite their shortness in nature, and clung to your skin from the sweat. After you clipped your hair out of the way, opting for flipflops over your normal sandals, you grabbed your essentials and headed out the door. You began to make your way to the hospital, the hot sun not helping you as it beat against your exposed skin. But how could you not expose so much skin? If you wore even more, or thicker clothes, you were sure you would’ve died of heat stroke.
Before you could enter the large white building, you caught sight of a certain dark-haired, sun-glassed shinobi and paused. Your heart beat against your chest, and it wasn’t due to the sweltering heat that time. In fact, you almost thought it made the heat worse. The Aburame would surely know about bug bites, right? Surely, they had all sorts of antivenom; there was no need to go to the hospital when you could just ask the heir to one of the most knowledgeable clans in Konoha, right? It definitely didn’t have anything to do with him being your boyfriend or anything, definitely not.
The two of you had begun your relationship about six months ago. It had been going well, but recently a tension had grown that the two of you had yet to approach. Whenever you both were alone together it was palpable, you hadn’t even been able to give him a light peck on the lips without feeling tingly from your head to your toes. You really wanted to take things to the next level, but were unsure about how to bring it up, or even initiate it.
With a shiver and a large amount of determination you began to follow after your tall boyfriend. Man, he was so tall, and so attractive. That spiked long hair, you liked it better long like that and really wanted to run your hands through it again, to tug on it as you rode those full, plush, lips and— “Shino!”
He paused his stride and looked down at you as you approached. Gosh, he was so handsome. “Oh,” he started in that deep baritone that made the base of your neck tingle and brought goosebumps to your flesh. Your name left his lips and you practically melted into goo. “Is everything alright? The reason for my question being, you look flushed and—” he cut himself off, you watched as his adam’s apple bobbed with his swallow. “And uncomfortable.”
“Actually, that’s part of why I’m here. I need your help.”
“My help?” His defined brows furrowed.
“Yeah, I think this bug bite is making me sick.” You showed him the inflamed bump on your arm.
“I see, do you know what type of insect it was?”
“Well, no not really.” You fidgeted as you began to grow more and more uncomfortable. That thirst became your greatest enemy, your throat felt dry and it made you swallow continuously. There was that familiar tingling that had started in your lower belly, and you wanted nothing more than to get out of the sun’s rays.
“Come with me, the reason being I can better assess the situation with information at home.”
“Okay.” It was a struggle not to openly pant as you looked at him, your eyes glazing over as your thoughts drifted to imagine what he looked underneath all of those clothing layers. “Let’s do that then.”
The walk to the Aburame estate felt incredibly long. Though Shino was excellent company, his proximity only seemed to increase your dilemma. Every few steps or so, your arms would brush against each other and you almost groaned every time. It was almost like too much stimulation. And all of that coupled with the heat, the thirst, and tingling in your gut made for an excruciating experience. All you wanted was some relief, and at that point you didn’t really care what you had to do to get it. You needed. Needed it more than anything else.
Shino didn’t seem all too comfortable either and you couldn’t blame him. It would be a bit awkward to walk beside your significant other who was so obviously overheated, uncomfortable, and kept looking you up and down like you were a glass of water in a desert. You didn’t mean to make him uncomfortable, or to eat him alive with your eyes. When you were in the right headspace, you’d be sure to apologize profusely for your actions, probably even buy him some melon to make up for it.
The two of you entered the estate quietly and it seemed no one else was home. You could’ve been wrong, your senses as haywire as they were, but when Shino didn’t give any greetings or go anywhere but to his area of the home you figured you were, in fact, the only two in the house. “Would you like some tea?”
You stared at him for a bit before your brain finally registered what he asked. “Oh, sure, thank you.”
He told you to make yourself comfortable—you were in a drawing room of sorts it seemed—and you sat on the seat cushion provided as you waited for his return. You hated how you couldn’t stop squirming, you were a ninja, you’d survived the Fourth Great Ninja War, had succeeded on many missions, some were even solo missions, and here you were being brought down by a single bug bite.
“Here you go.”
“Thank you, Shino.” You took the tea and set it to the side for a moment, it was far too hot for you to attempt to drink in your current state.
“So, how did the insect that bit you appear?”
You began to tell him about the bug, how big it was, where it bit you, and where your mission was to give him a better idea of the insect population there. “And your symptoms?”
If you could be any more flushed, you would have been. It was a bit embarrassing to tell the object of your affections how overheated you were, how thirsty you were, and how wet you were. You decided it’d be better to tell him the first two and leave the last bit out of your explanation. “I’ve been overheated since I got back, and so thirsty but no matter how much I drink I don’t feel better.”
“Is that all?” He leaned in closer to you from across the table, you looked away from his shaded gaze but not before catching a glimpse of those golden orbs. The intensity took your breath away. “The reason being, the Diptera you have described, their venom, causes more symptoms.”
You finally took a sip of the tea he had offered; it was refreshing. Mint probably. It suited him well. You looked anywhere but at him as you placed the cup back down and shook your head, feigning nonchalance as best as you could in your current state. “No, I don’t think so.”
“Heightened arousal,” he stood and walked around the small table toward you. The man towered over your sitting form, and then even as he bent to kneel over you, he remained quite a bit above you. You shivered and leaned back while looking away. “I don’t believe you. The reasons being, your dilated pupils,” his hand pressed against the floor behind you beside your head. Shino had you practically pinned to the floor. He was so close you could feel his body heat against your already overly warm flesh, you almost whimpered. “The hitching of your breath, the distinctive squirming, and the hungry way your eyes devour me. You desire me.”
Even if you hadn’t before you certainly did then. You shivered, keeping your eyes away from his as you continued the same squirming he’d called you out on. You almost gave in to the need to breathe through your mouth, to pant like an animal in heat, but you didn’t and tried your best to keep your wits about you. “The insect you encountered, has a distinctive venom that worsens as it continues to circulate in your blood stream.”
He removed his glasses, and you took a peek at his honeyed eyes and bit your bottom lip. They were heated, like liquid gold as they stared you down. The Aburame inched closer, his breath fanning over your ear as he began to whisper directly to it. The low rumble of his voice broke you, and you let out a gasp as he whispered to you. “Its venom acts like an aphrodisiac in humans, with only one way to satisfy it.”
“W-What way is that?”
The young heir remained silent for a moment, his hot breath made you feel dizzy. As you squeezed your thighs together for friction, you felt just how wet you were and how badly you wanted the insect specialist. “It has to be worked out. Thoroughly.”
He may not have said it, but the implications made your insides clench. Shino seemed to hesitate for a moment, backing up only a bit so he could look you in the eyes. “Are you willing to—” again he paused, it seemed like he may have some nerves of his own despite the confident bravado. “Are you willing to allow me to treat you?”
“Yes,” you squeaked, your tongue slipping out to lick your dry lips and try to clear your throat. The sound of your voice was raspy, desperate, “Please, please, yes.”
Shino visibly shivered.
The next few seconds were a messy blur of lips, tongue, and teeth. He tasted like mint, like the tea. His large hands shook as they roamed over your sweat soaked skin and pushed your flimsy shirt up toward your neck and exposed your breasts to his greedy fingers and lips. Both of Shino’s hands, warm and calloused from years of training, enveloped and kneaded your chest in a rough manner. After breaking the kiss his tongue licked a stripe down your neck and if you had the mental capacity, you would have been embarrassed by the sweat; but you didn’t, you were too far gone.
He licked his way down, avoiding the crumpled material of your shirt, and lapped at the flesh of your breasts, he took a softened peak between his lips and sucked hard. You moaned, your hands reaching out and tugging at his outer jacket. The Aburame heir shrugged out of the coat, his lips still focusing on your pebbled bud, and he threw the material somewhere off to the side. His teeth scrapped against your nipple before he roughly bit into the underside of your breast, and you cried out. When you started to tug at his vest he pulled back from your skin and began to speak once again.
“Your skin tastes so sweet.” He took his vest off and began to unbuckle his belt and unbutton his pants. His voice was deeper, much deeper, his own skin flushed, and his eyes were drowning in lust, he seemed close to panting. “The reason being the venom turns your own body fluids into a similar aphrodisiac.”
With that he licked another stripe over your breast, his deft fingers pushed his pants past his hips, and with a matched eagerness you pulled your own shorts and underwear off. You lifted your hips to aide in the removal of your clothing and as they came up, they came in contact with an absurdly large, hard, and throbbing piece of flesh. “Shino you—” you cut yourself off as you looked down to his member and you felt like your eyes were about to pop out of your head. “Huge,” you muttered.
The insect user looked to the side, somehow still embarrassed despite the situation, before his lust won out and he pressed that monstrous erection between your slicked folds. You immediately moaned, both in relief and pleasure, and you laid your head back to keep your hips up and moving against his. “So wet,” he panted, his heavy tip bumping against your clit as he rubbed against you. He kept rubbing, and groaning in that delicious tone of his, and you kept shifting your hips and begging for him to put it in.
“Shino, please I can’t—” your breathing hitched and your thighs began to tremble as you struggled not to climax from the pressure of his member rubbing against your throbbing clit. “Please, please, put it in. I need you so bad.”
You felt his erection throb against you, and again he shivered. He pressed his face between your breasts as he nodded and brought a hand down to guide himself inside. His fingers poked at your entrance to make sure he was positioned correctly before pressing the head inside. It was a burning stretch, the lack of preparation adding to the discomfort as he spread you impossibly wide. A hiss left your throat and you had to shift your hips to adjust, and he sunk in deeper. “Nnnh,” you closed your eyes.
It hurt, but it felt so good all the same. His face was tense with concentration, his jaw locked and teeth grinding as he did his best to not push in all at once. The Aburame pushed in deeper, and you whined in both impatience and pleasure. You panted and wrapped your legs around his waist and pushed him further in. As he bottomed out, both of your mouths fell open with a sharp gasp.
His hands shook as they held your hips, and you clawed at his back with your nails, trying to find your bearings and get him to scratch the itch that was driving you insane. Shino seemed to be struggling just the same, his body wracked with shivers and fingers twitching against your flesh, his golden irises were shut off from the world, tightly, as he breathed shaky breaths. You squirmed a bit to try and relieve the pressure and heard his breath hitch. Unconsciously, or at least you assumed unconsciously, his hips began to buck against you.
It felt instinctual, the way his hips moved against yours and the way yours moved back. Your throat felt scratchy, your lower belly felt tight as the pleasure built. The friction from his thrusts scratched the itch you had been so desperate to relieve since the damned bug bite. “S-Shino,” you moaned, your nails blazed a trail down his back and your toes curled as you reached your first peak, the Aburame heir followed you to your heaven shortly. But it still wasn’t enough.
The two of you kept going, only pausing for a brief moment to confirm the mutual need to continue. He felt so good, the perfect angle, the perfect size; when you both changed positions, you were on your hands and knees as he took you from behind, and he reached parts of you that you hadn’t realized could be reached. Shino’s voice spurred you on and he knew it. He made sure to lean down and moan, grunt, groan, and gasp right into your ear. He came before you the second time, but even then, neither of you wanted to stop.
It was incredible, it was exhausting, it continued until late into the evening. You estimated that you’d both stopped somewhere around the sixth time. The both of you collapsed, the overwhelming thirst and heat finally satiated, and you felt completely spent. There was a giddiness that began to spread through your chest and you couldn’t help but smile at the tired look on your boyfriend’s normally passive face. He was covered in sweat, as were you, but his soft ambers didn’t leave your form. “We should clean up,” he began, his own voice gruff with overuse and an increasing amount of sleepiness. “The reason being—"
“We’re gross,” you interrupted, voice nothing more than a hoarse rasp.
“Yes.” Shino pushed some hair back from your face. “Are you feeling better?"
“I don’t know,” you teased. “We may have to go one more round for me to know for sure.” “Anything for your treatment.”
