I gasped when I saw it the first time when Lucien told Klaus to kneel. Seeing it in Guardian was a happy surprise. On Love in the Air I was waiting, anticipating it to happen. GAP was unexpected and the softest execution EVER (the only time it's not the villain directly telling the protag to do so)

Kneeling is a sign of submission but they are not submitting to the bad guy pre se, they are doing it coz they love their person more than they hate the bad guy.

It hurts me but it's one of the best shows of devotion.

Shen Wei noncon for the WIP game? 👀👀👀

Forgive me for sitting on this one for a while, @flamingwell, but every time I had time to sit down and answer it, I was at work on my work computer and that was just weird. XD

And I'm going to put the rest of this behind a cut because sensitive topics...

OK, so for those of you who have known me for a hot second, you know I have a dub/noncon kink a mile wide. And if I'm in a fandom and love a character enough, I'm eventually going to want to write some for them.

Only I could never quite get there with Shen Wei.

This is for two reasons:

The Guardian fandom, on the whole, doesn't really seem that into noncon/dead dove fic. This isn't a complaint or a judgement, just an observation. But it was enough to put me off trying to write it for a fandom I wasn't sure would appreciate it.

Shen Wei is such a fucking POWERHOUSE, who on EARTH was going to be able to subdue him long enough for a noncon fic to even WORK? (Yes, I know, the obvious answer is Ye Zun, and I was absolutely willing to go there, but it felt like a cheat and it also introduced elements that were different than the ones I wanted to explore at that time.)

So, I'd been having conversations with a friend about the dilemma of how to write noncon for Shen Wei off and on for months. (The same friend who has been trying to tempt me back into writing Guardian again for some time now. And she got me halfway there with the Amnesia fic by dangling university found family ideas in my face.) He'd kind of become my white whale, so to speak. XD And one day it just... hit me. That there was a VERY obvious answer.

Something has to interfere with his powers.

And he has to be willing to allow it to happen to some extent, because even without his powers, he's an incredible fighter.

And then this fic happened. XD

The basic premise is that something is wonky with the Dixing gates post-canon, and periodically they warp the dark energy that gets through into Haixing in such a way that it causes all dark energy use to backlash on the caster. And during one such time, Shen Wei comes across a student about to be assaulted and gets involved, in spite of the obvious risk to himself.

The gang in question end up hurting him instead.

And from there it's a mess of Shen Wei being convinced that this type of injury is no worse than any other type of injury and therefore there's no reason to be overly distressed about it. And Zhao Yunlan and Da Qing easily seeing that something is Very Wrong, but not knowing what or being able to figure it out.

Until of course, Shen Wei eventually breaks and the truth comes out and he gets a chance to properly heal.

So I finally finish guardian and I need several days to recover. I need to know what happens after. Did they ever meet in another life? Will I ever get yunlan screaming “kill me, kill me” after he watch shen wei get devour. Will I ever recover from Shen wei making a necklace out of yunlan lollipop wrap and carrying around with him and when the thieves tried to take it he said “this more valuable then your life.” Or something along those line. Will I ever recover from yunlan screaming “where is Shen wei” when everyone got thrown up.” Can I get the look of utterly despair and heartache when he realized Shen wei wasn’t coming back out of my brain . Can I get the picture of him screaming “noooo” as the crystal dragger puncture Shen wei. Will I ever get over “you are worth it.” When yulan found out he connected their lives together. Will I ever be over the look Shen wei has when he first saw yunlan for the second time. Like his soul had finally been released. Will I get over the look in yunlan eyes when he promises they will follow each other in the no matter how many times in how many lives. Will I ever recover from “who hurt you I will kill them.” will I ever get over yunlan being the reason that Shen Wei was still trying fight even though he was severely injuried and still threaten his deluged deranged irrational brother about hurting him if he laid one single finger on yunlan. Will I be able to get over the longing and the smiles that they shared between each other like little inside secrets. Will I ever be over the fact that they would chose each other in every life time no matter what happens. Because they can’t live without the other.

Shen Wei be like: Don't look at me today you are gonna sleep in couch
