Once again thinking how Shen Wei’s and Zhao Yunlan’s first meeting in drama is 10 000 more dramatic than in novel

In the novel Shen Wei knew Zhao Yunlan was not supposed to recognize him. More so, he was relieved ZYL never recognized him

But in the drama Shen Wei was desperately holding into a thought that he and Kunlun will meet again and will be reunited. Probably fantasized about their first meeting since parting, will there be an embrace, happy tears, kisses (I am team they were more than one censored day there in the past)

But his dreams and hopes were shattered. And he was left wondering whether this Zhao Yunlan is his Kunlun even, or maybe hollows messed with multiple universes. Shen Wei is a scientist, he surely understands the probability of quantum paradoxes

+ What if HIS Kunlun appears while he is here building love life with Zhao Yunlan, who might not become Kunlun. no. certainty.

And imagine Shen Wei waking up every day hoping that this might be the day Kunlun remembers, because there was no clue on the cause of Kunlun’s disappearance for Shen Wei.

Not mentioning he probably doubted Zhao Yunlan would come to him again after business card exchange, since Shen Wei was just Shen Wei with a good name for him

11 Amnesia Weilan (Guardian)

In which Zhao Yunlan wakes up with amnesia to a beautiful man fussing over him, realizing they clearly had sex (he's so sore! How much did he drink last night!? It's a damn shame he doesn't remember...) only for Shen Wei to try to heal him with dark energy⸺and Zhao Yunlan freaks the fuck out. Because! Dixingren!

(He doesn't remember anything from canon, so he has to speedrun his early canon development again and regain his memories both.)

26 YOHE slave au (Guardian)

ngl this one is a bit more Out There in terms of worldbuilding. The basic idea is that the Dixingren are actually rebelling against something: a society in which Dixingren are oppressed and usually enslaved in hopes of keeping them from awakening their powers.

So Zhao Yunlan drops into YOHE era and takes Kunlun's place with very little explanation from Ma Gui, only to trip over Shen Wei in Kunlun's tent. Because Shen Wei hasn't yet learned any useful powers ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ having only recently awoken his. (And Kunlun died to the rebels because Ye Zun is trying to free his enslaved twin.)

Honestly, I just started it for The Vibes and also because the idea of Shen Wei waking ZYL up with a blowjob the next morning and ZYL going from YES, YES, YES PLEASE! to OH FUCK NO is hilarious to me (I'm messed up I know 😂)

29 Ye Zun's pillar trap (Guardian)

This one's easy: when I first watched, I knew there came a point where Ye Zun impersonates Shen Wei (because I saw a Xiao Yunlan gifset). So when Zhao Yunlan goes to save Shen Wei from the pillar, I was convinced this was a trap and it's actually Ye Zun trapped to the pillar, pretending to be Shen Wei. So the entire soaking in sunlight on the bench scene I was like *squints suspiciously*

So, canon divergence where it's actually Ye Zun ZYL freed and Ye Zun trying to pretend to be his brother to enjoy the sunlight for as long as he can :D probably plotting something evil and totally not enjoying the positive attention and social interactions, no siree!

one fine day at the end of january 2021, I started panicking about the day I no longer had any ideas for the untamed gifsets, so I decided to challenge myself by starting a get to know me meme (see post here). I gave myself 100 sets to do - fully expecting to never ever finish them.

BUT!

less than 2 years and precisely 100 sets later (although along the way I might have cheated and changed 5 brotps to 5 cinematographies and one “romantic pairing” is more bromantic than romantic), I’m finally done!!

this meme (series?) really pushed me out of my usual comfort zone of giffing (at that point of time I think I was still... 70% the untamed?), especially with giffing animated shows and more obscure shows. along the way, I picked up and practised new skills, new styles, new colouring tricks, and I’m really really glad that I took this on ( ˙꒳˙ )
