Some pre-epilogue thoughts I had about a slightly timeskipped Vacuo Oscar (not sure how long RWBYJ was gone canonically, but my personal conjecture was around 8 months?). Based off the idea I had that the Vacuo crew chooses to add some element of their lost-and-presumed-dead friends into their everyday attire, whether their colors or symbols or both, to honor their memories.

- etched his lost companions’ symbols into the leather upper of his once-coat-now-vest: Jaune and Ruby are over his right and left breasts respectively, Penny is left shoulder, Yang is right, Blake and Weiss are on his back (Blake is next to Yang’s symbol, naturally). Ruby’s over his heart because I’m Rosegarden trash yes BUT ALSO he’s closer to her and Jaune than any of the rest so they’d get top billing regardless amirite

- removed the sleeves and tails of his coat and let out the sides, both to accommodate the climate and his own growth spurts in the time passed.

- sleeveless gloves for less sweaty fingers

-undercut maybe? I see y’all’s Vacuo Ponytail Oscars, and they are Powerful, but I raise you ‘an Oscar who doesn’t want extra hair on his neck when it’s a bajillion degrees out’

- not pictured: maybe a hip-length tan cloak and goggles for sun/sandstorm protection as necessary

The lack of confirmation of Nobara's status leads me to believe Gege has something planned for her as the end of the Everyone vs Sukuna battle Aka the "Decisive Battle" draws to an end. This situation totally reminds me of the "Enchain" plot thread. It felt for a long stretch of the manga like Gege had even forgotten about the Enchain binding vow.

Except he hadn't.

The hush-hush around Nobara might be due to a similar situation. It might mean that she will be a key player to defeat Sukuna. OR she might be part of the conclusion of the story in a different way like bringing a ray of sunshine and hope to the fandom with just the confirmation of her survival, after Gege breaks our hearts one last time before the manga's end lol.

#personally as a writer it just doesn't make sense to bring in Arata Nitta to heal her and then puff #we don't even see Arata ever again?? nate being the only doctor makes me wonder what he's had to do for the others before

Nate does a lot for the crew. (Also woo look at his human disguise!)

When he's not actively treating or checking on them, he's constantly working to compare studies and test data to understand how to treat his friends, seeing as they have widely different genetic makeups and could react in ways that are *catastrophically* unexpected.

He can't use human rules when working on them, which greatly complicates things when he's educated in treating humans. Sera and Vince naturally have nucleated blood cells for greater oxygen input since they're always in rigorous activity, but this is a sign of leukemia or other major deficiency in humans. How do drugs interact with their bodies? what reaction will their immune systems have? do they have an intolerance to certain chemical developments?

This is partly why Vincent underwent so much testing and experimentation- to catalogue and document an atlas for the reproduction and understanding of this hybrid Variant species, and how every facet of its anatomy works in that respect. Like a rough draft you don't care about messing up, and use only to learn from.

It's a wonder how Nathaniel was able to successfully recompile enough information to save his friends at all. It's a lot of stress on one guy with no nurses! That goes without saying for Amon (who is a beastshifter) Sonia... (Who is a living chemical synthesis lab) The various other people who end up joining... (Who shall remain incognito)

...Yikes.

He has likely seen all of them naked at least once, due to emergencies. He's extremely professional, so it's like it never happened... But it's still never fun to have to use that kind of ER protocol on your injured friends and associates.

Everyone except for Vincent, since V never lets Nathaniel treat him for anything, even when he needs it.

Instead, everyone caught a harrowing and unwanted glimpse of Vincent when he landed back home after streaking in the rain. He now flies with his pants duct-taped on. And goggles. For the glare and the overwhelming surplus of bugs he slams into at twice the speed of a f1 car.

She has him change back when he's home.#He's perfectly happy with that since he doesn't like being disguised much either. He's pleasantly surprised to see that she prefers him #to be true blue. Most previous partners would request him to change into other forms. Sometimes he was even asked to turn into celebrities.#Not fun. Really not fun. He'd eventually associate his true self with something undesirable enough to be rejected over.

I was basically a nervous wreck at all times, and it was mostly because I was constantly reading things that as an adult I reread like "wait what the fuck?" lmao

#she and dad would take me to half price books and let me have like $10 worth of books from the $1 kids section #there were a lot of series books like animorphs and goosebumps and babysitters club so I got a lot of those #but I'd also get like the most fucked-up ghost stories for kids you've ever heard of in your life #me: 'remember that book I had about christmas ghost stories?'#'and there was that one about the kid from a family where he didn't feel wanted and they'd just moved and his mom had a new bf and stuff'#'and he realized he could watch another family through the wall'#'and they looked so happy and his own life was so unhappy that one day they beckoned to him through the wall'#'and he went through and was never seen again'#'and it turned out he was seeing a family that were alive across the street from him during the blitz'#'and while he was never seen again in his time it turns out there was an unidentified body in the rubble when that building was bombed'#'implying that he was able to actually travel to the past to be with that 'loving family' but only in time for them to all be killed'#mom: .......what the FUCK are you talking about

You know, I am perhaps morbidly curious about what a fall like that would've done to Mine. Because I've seen a ballistics dummy (whose joints were admittedly not reinforced in true-to-life fashion) fall from twenty feet and its entire arm and lower legs just... came off... and the impact exerted "38,000 pounds of pressure" on its head. But I'm also aware of cases where the body was almost pristine, at least to the naked eye. But also... Nay, I shan't say.

In the case of his survival though, I do completely agree with anon--discounting injuries to the head and chest, the most common less-lethal injuries are to the spine, pelvis, and limbs. So there must be lasting damage aside from the bullet wounds. As such, Mine with a Sick-Ass Wheelchair has been a favorite of mine for years. RGG's universe is a bit more advanced than ours medically and technologically, too, so I'm also partial to cyborg Mine.

I honestly don't care (just kidding I do) as long as he survived lol, whatever explanation they come up with I'll accept blindly. But I do think it would be funny for Mine to end up in a coma for years while he Went And Did All That because Daigo was in a coma for a week.

i've been morbidly curious myself about the survivability of falls from X heights and it definitely is possible to survive even things like skydiving gone wrong, so it's not out of the realm of possibility of mine to walk away (or. not walk away depending on the injury) relatively fine

I wonder what kind of dreams Mina is having...

#dracula daily #i cant stop thinkinf about how much time she spends asleep #she's closer to dracula's influence except sunrise/sunset #is she dreaming of him?#is the sleeping part of becoming a vampire or some subconscious attempt to resist #what if she knows how to lucid dream. would that be a similar enough state to hypnotism in some way?#i imagine mina dreaming horrible wonderful things #she dreams of dracula's assault #of lucy's end #she holds jonathan's hand as she falls asleep and has a GOOD dream of the two of them together and happy and no dracula anymore #and then dream!mina is kissing him and his neck and then bites down and -drinks- and jonathan is still smiling and relaxed #she drinks so much that he's pale and trembling but he laughs and kisses her again and now there's blood on his mouth too #and she feels so GOOD so alive and strong and closer than ever with his lifeblood pumping through her veins and it's such a happy dream #until she wakes up.#(even then. horribly it takes a few minutes. jonathan sees her smile upon waking; answers it with his own. and it takes a while to realize)#or maybe sometimes mina doesn't think she dreamed at all and she is so grateful for a peacefuk sleep #nothing but darkness and the feeling of the train's movement lulling her #and it's fine it's good there's nothing at all and that's such a relief now #but then. come sunrise. when van helsing hypnotizes her. for just a brief moment in between entering the trance and surrending #all her own awareness and control - for just a single moment - the darkness feels so familiar. the movement not of a train but a ship #she doesn't have time to be certain. was she dreaming of dracula? was she *dracula* in what she thought were her few moments of peace?#there's no time to be sure before her mind surrenders under the wave of van helsing's intent.#before she subsumes herself and her Self becomes *him* again. she feels what he feels knows what he knows because they are one and the same #and when they separate it's a kind of mercy that she doesn't remember. but it means she forgets the maybe-dreams as well #mina murray
