Everyone wish me and my new baby plant good luck!! I have so much love for this god damn show I have to pour it into caring for a living thing, arts and crafts just aren’t enough. I need a red geranium in my room that I grew from a seed myself.

there’s an agronomy professor at my work who can take a common crop seed, let it soak in chemicals that dye living parts of the seed shades of red, and then can cut it open and tell you WHY it’s rotting instead of germinating AND can give an approximation of what stage of the growing/harvesting process might have gone wrong to kill it and honestly I’m just struck by how much of an incredibly powerful niche skillset this is. just incredibly valuable in any context, not just in dystopian monoculture corn reality where well-bred/treated/engineered crop seeds are incredibly expensive commodities to be bought and sold but also like, for most of human history? like is this not something kings and emperors and civilizations through human history would put you on courts and councils for. person who can tell you why the crops aren’t growing. remarkable

Ok so I have been stewing this crossover au in my brain nonstop for the past few days and. I am nothing if not committed to the bit, so. Volume cover redraws :)

So the idea is simple! Crossover reincarnation au where ASL is reborn in Spy x Family. They’re each born separately and none of them are born with the same names as their previous lives, and with no way of finding each other, they each find their own thing to do in the world.
Sabo, too used to the dangers of being a spy, eventually finds a cause to devote himself to again, in preventing war from engulfing the country he was reborn in. Ace, drawn to fire as he was in his previous life, used arson as a means to rob rich people for sustenance and survival, and is eventually scouted and hired by Garden as a fire specialist and assassin. And Luffy, though born in perhaps the poorest condition, grows up happily and takes whatever part time jobs he wants to do.
The thing about Sabo is that, as much as he seems like a young man of good repute and high standing within society, everyone in WISE knows that he is a massive nuisance. Nobody knew in the beginning how a child less than half the age of most of their veteran agents could have the same skills and knowledge in their profession. Sabo was— and still is— hyper competent, and by the time WISE figured out just how much of a menace to society he was, it was too late.
Ace forgot for the first few years of his new life that he wasn’t made of fire, and consequently, received multiple accidental burns. This did not deter him, however, from growing up to be a very skilled arsonist, well-practiced in every which way to start a dumpster fire or house fire. As a teenage he would use this often to draw attention as he robbed rich people blind. When he was caught, he was given an ultimatum by Garden: join them and receive payment for starting fires and causing problems under contract, or face the government and authorities for his crimes. Begrudgingly, he joined Garden, but eventually comes to appreciate that he can make substantial money in his element.
Luffy is Luffy. No telepathy or experimentation, no fancy schools, no gimmicks or secret identities. But he has still lived an extremely colorful life in this world, full of fascinating and kind individuals who have helped him grow up healthy and relatively happy. He goes where he is free, and he takes whatever part time jobs he wants in order to make the minimum he needs to survive.
Ace and Sabo find each other first, in their late teens, and neither of them realize that the other remembers their previous life, but both refuse to separate. (Sabo thinks Ace doesn’t remember, because Ace didn’t recognize him. Ace never saw Sabo grow up past 10, however, so he doesn’t recognize older Sabo immediately. By the time he does realize who exactly Sabo is, Sabo has backtracked and pretends to know Ace from a dream, or from somewhere else.)
Sabo’s attachment to Ace, predictably, causes problems between Sabo and WISE, but by then, Sabo is indispensable to the organization, and they make an exception for Sabo to be able to remain with Ace, so long as Ace never finds out what Sabo’s actual job is. Ace, on the other hand, hides his job because he doesn’t want his brother, who he has just found and who does not know Ace well enough yet, to know that he makes a living from killing people.
And they find Luffy sometime afterwards, prior to the beginning of the Spy x Family canon. Luffy figures out, not long after moving in with his brothers, both of his brothers’ secret occupations and the fact that both of them remember their past memories. He thinks it is common knowledge, however, and so he never brings it up.

I like the idea of having my oc Mercy stay in the Commonwealth long-term rather than leave after the Institute’s handled, so I played around with some ideas of where she’d be living at. In the scenario where she’d be staying, she establishes herself as a ghoul-centric doctor and later offers specialized care like medical implants, vaccines, rare chems, unique syringer darts, and potentially induced mutations if her research gets to that point.

Thorn ironically being what put the princess to sleep while it's what Yor uses to put others “to sleep”#Technically her weapons aren't thorns but they could seen as one with her being “the rose” and her stilettos the “thorns” she uses 2defend#herself. Also the rose being her signature flower shown both in her headwear her pin and her assassin clothing#The less obvious fact is her maiden surname#Briar is the name in Little Briar Rose. The ENG title translation in the german version of this tale#Another fun fact considering Ostania is based on Germany so obviously none of these were coincidences#At first I thought the rose could be one of the emblems of the organization as a whole or in general#but after seeing the shopkeeper the only resemblance I could find between his design and Yor's is that both wear those daggers accessories#Yor wearing them in plain sight as earrings while the shopkeeper has them hanging from the ends where he ties his apron behind his neck#so maybe those are the emblems much like that symbol with an eye is to WISE#Of course given how the organisation is called Garden I suppose one of the main themes are plants/flowers/nature#Which has me wondering if other characters may have tale inspo as well or Yor is one the few/only who has references to a tale#it could be something that appears frequently perhaps? Sometimes I think about the collection of skills Lariel would have before she runs away and goes out into the world. How surprised she’d be that the things her family insisted were life and death important don’t actually help her. Because she, you know, doesn’t know how to cook, nor clean, she doesn’t know how to do laundry, nor barter. Lariel really thought memorizing poetry, embroidery, formal manners, and ballroom dance were going to be much more useful in her daily life considering how strongly they emphasized them to her.

Anyway I feel like it kinda gets glossed over that Knives was a child when he caused the big fall and idk I think that's kind of important because he's lived with that for over 100 years and just like Vash has lived with knowing the people he loves and fights for don't see him or his kind as anything more than a tool at best or a monster at worst, Knives has most definitely lived with knowing he's the leading reason why this system has remained in place

Now I'm making up a whole backstory for my shrimp, lmao. I decided 'shrimperor' is a better pun than 'prime shrimpister.'
So now, my currently only named Shrimp, Isosceles, is renamed to Shrimperor Isosceles the First. And because I don't see her in the tank right now, she very well could have been murdered and her corpse consumed, because such matters are perfectly legal in Gallon-of-Five, under Shrimperor Isosceles the First's brutal reign with an iron swimerette.
Meanwhile, the uncivilized wilds of The Vast Ten have yet to organize a social government. Only the untraversable geographic Arid Void between the two lands prevents Shrimperor Isosceles the First from expanding The Shrimpire.
