#she could of had such a better arc after the Danni incident

So I was looking up the DP character wiki, as one does, and I found out that canonically Jazz basically had nanobots injected in her blood by Vlad, and that has never really been addressed again (which is a shame because it could make some interesting stories), so after binge reading all your anger management fics my first thought abaut this info was "how would Jason react to this?" Because finding out your girlfriend, who you love and cherish like nothing else in the world, has nanobots basically infused with her nervous system, and that whoever control these bots can just compleatlly burn her nervous system at any given moment has to be one hell of a trip.
All i know is that Vlad better pray that Jason dosen't find out it was him, because Jason still can and will pull the dufflebag incident again if he ever finds out
(If anyone wants to use this as a prompt go ahead! This is just a thought I had and wanted to share it anyways)
First of all, thank you for reading my fics!!!! 🥰🥰🥰
And yeah!! The nanobots thing was never used again????
For those that don't remember, in Secret Weapons (season 2), Jazz is injected with some nanobots so Vlad can remotely kill her if she dares betray him:
Tumblr media
and... it was never addressed again?
Yeah, I'd think Jason would want to kill Vlad after learning about the nanobots, and Danny is like yeah buddy, me too, we ride at dawn.
I don't think Jazz would be happy about it, since she is not very into killing Vlad, or maybe Vlad redemption arc and he tries to undo the nanobots thing?
I think it could be cool if she's taken to the Watchtower because they have some tech there that can disable all the nanobots or can take them all out. Danny would be so envious that she gets to see the Watchtower before him.
She reminds him is for life threatening situation, but ultimately rubs it in his face because she may be the older sister but she's not over being a little shit.
Anyway, good question, anon!!!! Thanks 😊

This may be a minor gripe but something that has kind of bothered me about discussions and depictions of Dan is how often people seem to forget that Dan isn't just an older evil Danny, he's a combination of Danny and Vlad's ghost sides. Like people always talk about him like Danny threw away his humanity and turned evil but that's not even true. Sure, we can say that Dan is the result of Danny's action but that's a little unfair. (1/2)
(2/2) Him cheating on a test, coincidentally putting his loved one's in a position where they could be killed, is absolutely not his fault. Letting Vlad take away his ghost powers with a strange contraption might not have been the smartest move, but we are talking about a grieving CHILD here, of course he isn't going to make the best decisions. If anything Vlad's the one to blame here, and even then, it's not like he could predict what happened
---
you aren't wrong, my friend. it really isn't entirely danny's fault and the whole 'if you cheat on a test, you'll loose everything you love' moral is confused at best. i think as fandom we find it more interesting to look at danny's potential evil and moral struggle with himself. so simplifying it to be dan is a worse case scenario of danny makes the conflict less abstract.
particularly because when it comes to self blame danny isn't going to go easy on himself just because it was excusable mistakes.
i think another talking point should be how danny is the target of the time assassination more than vlad is, even though vlad is part of the evil whole. you could argue that danny is the catalyst of his friends death and vlad inventing the claw things. but vlad invented the claw things. maybe because his human side survived and acted relatively harmless from then on? or maybe it's because the observants based on the available evidence recognized danny as more of a threat. i think that fits actually, for all vlad tried to be an evil mastermind, his achievements outside of terrorizing a teenager and theft isn't particularly impressive. danny was the one who got shit done. all his fights he finished one way or another and i could see how that would bleed into dan defeating everyone.
the real question is how to we fix this. ideally we could shape this idea so it's less confused, though i do honestly find the dynamic of half danny, half vlad interesting. if for not other reason. than two half ghosts make a whole. actually that's something else to be said about dan. his self-loathing is what led him to killing his human half, another negative aspect coming from danny.
i wonder if we could frame it like fusion, from su. obviously dan isn't stable or healthy, or based on love. he's most comparable to malichite. but with less internal debate. dan took the best and worst of both of them. danny's determination, danny's fighting ability, danny's anger, danny's sarcasm, vlad's anger, vlads lack of morals, vlads schemes, vlad's control. heck, vlads desire to rule the world. i don't think we ever got that from danny.
maybe if vlad was more involved in the fight with dan it could have been used as an opportunity to compare and contrast their characters. to go we're not so different you and i. danny gets to recognize that he has that dark potential. vlad gets to be humbled by the fact that what he wants isn't good for anyone, especially himself. and to be fair, we do see some of that humbling with future vlad, but none of that character growth is given to present vlad, so, really it's just another vehicle for danny angst. it also depends on what you want to do with vlad though. he's a fascinating character and could be given redemption under the right circumstances or be a character who has the opportunity for redemption but chooses not to be redeemed every time.
that fits him and makes him both a more pathetic and despicable villain. it's hard to pity someone who ignores the opportunities to heal and grow.
as for danny, he becomes far more aware of the consequences his actions, especially his selfish and cruel ones can have. because that potential was always there. he has a history of abusing his powers. perhaps for this specific incident him abusing his powers can be something less understandable than almost cheating on a test that he couldn't study for through no fault of his own. (maybe i just have flexible morals?). maybe it could be something more character relevant, like he did something particularly vlad like, maybe he set up a prank at the nasty burger to get dash but it set off the explosion that killed his family. or maybe he did something particularly cruel and manipulative. there are better catalysts than a test. either way he recognized that he should never go that far again and strive to avoid being actively cruel.
he also has the opportunity to recognize that vlad does have a human half, even the one he's fighting everyday. he can face some conflict in it's not entirely clear what trait belongs to vlad and what trait belongs to him. he can empathize with vlad and he can recognize that situations aren't always in black in white. those who fly the highest, fall the hardest, after all.
it can be a growing experience. and while making it solely a danny goes bad and learns not to do evil kind of story. maybe we could cut vlad from the equation and just have danny face himself, full evil refection. i think exploring both vlad and danny through this fusion is far more interesting. especially because we can build on what's revealed about vlad in these episodes, in later ones. danny sees a future where vlad chills and that maybe his vlad could get their. later he see vlads past and what he lost to become who he is.
and then there's vlads turning point episodes. i don't know when motherly instinct took place but maddie fully recognizing he's a bastard and rejection him, was a turning point for his sanity, and danny helped it along. then we have danny rejecting him repeatedly, then we the clone episode, which we can all agree was a desperate move on his part, that danny once again thwarted. and we can all agree that this was the cannon turning point for his character where he stopped fighting for a family and started trying to be danny's villain. in that episode, i think danny could potentially pity vlad enough to try and reach out. he's not going to justify what vlad did and he's not going to apologize for stopping him. he went too far. he hurt danny and dani, he crossed a moral line that can't be justified even with his desperation. but if he changes...
he lost this time but if he changes, maybe they'll reach the point where they're ready to accept him.
i think the same thing could be said about his relationship with jack and maddie. if he changes, if he reaches out. if acts like less of a crazy fruitloop, his friends would be there for him. jack is still trying to be there for him, even if he's being oblivious about vlad's faults. vlads the one driving wedges into his relationships and pushing everyone away.
and that's so freaking human and understandable.it would be such a cool thing to explore with his character.
i could also see a potential arc where after valerie finds out vlad and masters are the same person she tries to get close to him, both to sus out how evil he is and to understand him as a halfa. afterall danny got her to acknowledge dani as human enough, the same would apply to vlad/plasmius, right? only he's a bad person and the more she uncovers about vlad masters the man, the more she realizes it's not the ghost half that's evil. but this is a double edged sword because, vlad is getting attached to her and encouraging her to be more evil. he's encouraging her to go darker and darker in her fight against ghosts and her fight specifically against phantom. to the point where she finally draws the line and says, i'm not doing that! boom exploring the moral ambiguity of her character and getting her to take a hard stance on her morals, because there's a line too far for her.
and boom a further breakdown of vlads character because he finally had someone outside the fentons to redeem him. she could have helped pull him out of the hole he'd been digging himself into. she wanted to help him. he got attached to her, but he and his bad decisions decided to dig himself deeper instead. so once again he's 'abandoned and betrayed'.
from that point, i think it'd be time for him to finally face jack head on. not through manipulative schemes. not through veiled threats and insults. but the full confrontation of 'i always hated you. you ruined my life. you're the reason i lost everything'. which is really just his own self loathing speaking. and jack... empathetic jack can see that vlad desperately wants help. and jack would offer it to him. jack would try to hug it out and apologize and give vlad the love and friendship vlad's been fighting to steal this whole time.
and vlad would reject it.
he'd probably lash out a jack and go into a full breakdown/world destroying attack. could finally put the stolen crown to use and try declaring himself king and embracing his megalomaniac thing and actually be a threat this time. and THAT would be our series finally. everyone teaming up to fight 'king vlad'. danny probably finding out that he's technically king because he beat pariah dark but the matter being a bit confused because he had help. val and danny trying to find the ring of rage or at least find someone who can make one. secrets are out. i imagine vlad, upon revealing himself to jack would out danny to make danny as sad and alone as him. except nope, his family still loves him and val has had the character development to come around to him. (she's still gonna punch danny for lying for so long.) the ghosts will come and help because no one wants another tyrannical kind and vlads obviously off his rocker.
ah, the could have beens
anyway, i didn't mean for this to become a full vlad character analysis and rewrite when we were supposed to be talking about dan, but hey, i'm a simple creature. i like good writing, and i have to rewrite things myself, so be it. - Hestia

The Week continues to be hard. Make more Shadow Oaks NPCS to make brain feel better. You can really see where my art ranges from looking cute and acceptable to ‘Oh no. Oh NO baby. Oh NO.’
The Hitchcocks
Farish is a hairdresser and Danny's primary caregiver in the family. He's a sweet man who loves his wife Amitya a lot. He often pesters Helena to at least let him fix her split ends. Danny often spends a lot of time at the shop with him. Farish is much more laid back than his hardworking wife and doesn't have any qualms with being the 'male wife' as kids call it nowadays.
Amitya is real estate agent for the next town over; while the Hitchcock family moved to Shadow Oaks so Helena could go to a less problematic school, Amitya still has to drive 40 minutes to work every day. Must like Romero's mom Polly-Amitya worries about Helena not making friends as easily as she thought she would. She also frequently worries about Danny who keeps running off from babysitters and escaping the house some how despite their best efforts to get him to stop.
Danny is the Hitchcock's adopted Kenku Son. He's roughly 5 years old, his favorite thing in the world for some reason is Danny Devito and he absolutely ADORES Helena to the point where he keeps escaping the house or babysitters or daycare to go be wherever she is. Danny seems to think she is a very large Crow and that they are a FLOCK now.
The Garten Scouts are an organization of Scouts who promote 4 ideals of Good Morals, Good Ideals, Good Service and Good Behavior. Much like girl scouts, they go around doing good, raising money selling cookies and go camping once a year during the summer. Not...not the Shadow Oaks branch. The Garten scouts in Shadow Oaks are actually a bunch of highschool aged gnomes fishing damaged boxes of cookies out from a dumpster behind the super market, repackaging them and donning uniforms to resell them in other towns soley for the purpose of hustling a few hundred dollars out of idiots. Not everyone in Shadow Oaks has caught on, but a good portion have.
Laurie 'Lord' Edge is a vampire from Celeste Craven's Colony. A colony in vampire terms can be as small as a family unit to large as a whole town-usually minded by one or two Alpha vampires and several of their bitten 'drones'. Laurie Edge is actually a vampire who was bitten after Celeste was given the boot for her arc events to take her place in her colony. He biologically is the son of a very wealthy family known for forging and making swords, knives and daggers thru the ages known as 'Cutting Edge' and always expected him to be a fighter and to take over the family business. Ever edgey, he rejected his family's desires and ran off-letting himself be bitten and adopted into a Colony. While he still doesn't know how to use any other weapons than swords, katanas and knives; he'd much rather be a barbarian as that's much 'cooler' according to him. Which there's not much hope for that given his noodle body. He unironically has a reddit account and all his clothes are red and black. Despite being edgey and posting nihilistic things and always trying to shock people-he has a horribly weak stomach and can’t stand gore sites or horror movies.
Catfish is a half elf who works at the Gas Station just outside of the National Park-the last one in fact for 423 miles before the turn off, so people who plan on taking the driving path thru the park to get the interstate usually hit up Catfish's place before they go. Catfish spins a lot of weird tall tales and he seems to be a provoker in the Hag Myth-claiming he's seen the Hag in the forest herself.
Grandma Meep Meep is Catfish's grandmother and has been living in the town almost as long as it's been founded. Legally, this woman shouldn't be on the road but it doesn't stop her from driving. She has been banned from the Senior center of cheating at bingo, causing general havoc at the senior singles mixed dance and running someone over with a power chair. She's often at the gas station as well, more as a fixture who sits in the corner to keep Catfish company and make chit chat with the regulars. She keeps a long legged Jackalope she calls Butters. There has been at least 12 butters as far as Catfish can remember.
The Hag The Hag is a blair witchesque entity that has existed as long as the town has. The first recorded note of the Hag's existence was in the town's foundling days when it was more of a fort to hold down the area during a war (Shadow Oaks is actually the site of a large skirmish that happened) Several Soldiers on either side had gone missing and after a search party was sent out-their remains were found eviscerated near the creek. Hag sightings began to kick up after that.  Park Rangers don't want to perpetuate the belief in the hag to tourists because they don't want kids with cameras getting lost out there as the Park is also meshed with the fey wild-but because much like people who work in haunted houses, some claim to have seen her. It is not advised to Whistle or Clap as that may attract her attention. If you're camping-leave a necklace or something on a string outside of the camp so if she does come across you, she'll be more inclined to leave you alone as lore states she is fond of 'things on strings'. She often leaves a unique set of tracks as one of her legs is lame and she drags it about most of the time rather than put weight on it-but she is known to move much faster on all 4s. It's also believed she will turn into a massive barn owl with a woman's face. Catfish claims he saw her at the creek, hunkered on all fours drinking from the creek like an animal. Other than the one incident years ago-The Hag hasn't really done anything other than possibly terrorize campers in rumor.

Danny Phantom: Arcs and build up
Okay, let's talk about character arcs, continuity and built up.
Usually when writing a story in a series, there are some episodes dedicated to exploring certain story elements that later become important for the plot. This isusually called "foreshadowing" or "built up".
Foreshadowing is when the writer gives certain clues about what is going to happen next in the story without being explicit about it.
"Build up" is when there are some episodes that set up for a important event in the story. For example: A character becoming evil. Before the character turns completely evil, they are likely to have a few episodes exploring how they are slowly getting worse until they finally decide to betray the heroes. This really helps feeling the character's arc more realistic as their development didn't feel like came of nowhere.
Now let's talk about Reign Storm, The ultimate enemy and arcs in Danny Phantom.
Danny phantom is a character driven series, so when talking about arcs i'm going to refer to them as "character arcs".
Let's start with Vlad's character arc:
Tumblr media
Vlad Masters is first introduced in the episode 7 in season 1 "Bitter reunions". In this episode we learn about his motivations, personality, goals and backstory. We know that he wants to get his revenge on Jack, and make Maddie and Danny "join him". Another of his personal goals is stealing and becoming more powerful.
Near the end of the episode Vlad foreshadows that he is going to see Danny again some time.
In "Shades of Gray" he is the one that gives Valerie the ghost hunter equipment, he makes a small cameo spying on her to check if she got her package.
In "Maternal instincts" we get to see more about his character and "fruitloopness" as Danny would put it. "Bitter reunions" made it clear he is a "fruitloop" but "Maternal instincs" proofs this even further by showing his extreme methods to get what he wants are.
"Maternal instincts" he still wants to Maddie and Danny to be his family. He ends up ruining his relationship with Maddie ( she thought of him as a close friend) and Danny even more. He's so desperate to the point that he really believed Danny wants to be his son after everything that happened.
In "Million Dollar Ghost" he tries stealing the Skeleton Key. After escaping from the guardian, his ghost portal blews up and goes to the Amity Park to steal Fenton's portal.
In a "Million Dollar Ghost" he also tries to break the bond between Jack and Danny, however, his main goal is the ghost portal. After he is beaten by no other than Jack. He accidentally finds the Skeleton Key but the guardian eats him.
Up until this point we know that:
Vlad wants to do something with the Skeleton Key (Reign Storm).
He has ruined his relationship with Danny and Maddie, both realizing what kind of person he is.
His main goals and motivations.
He is using Valerie for his own goals.
He is the one the gave the equipment to Valerie.
Now, Valerie's arc:
Tumblr media
Her character is really first developed in "Shades of Gray". We all already know her backstory at this point: She used to be a rich girl that used to hang out with the popular kids until one day Cujo and Danny as Phantom made her dad lose his job at Axiom Labs and that ruined her life. She lost her own social status and her friends left her.
This made her hate ghosts with a burning passion. After receiving a package from Vlad, she started to train to become a ghost hunter and hunt Phantom.
Later in "Life lessons" she teams up with Danny (Phantom) to escape and fight Skulker, who was trying to hunt them down.
Valerie and Danny in the same episode start developing feelings for each other after Danny tries to make up to Valerie by helping her with her second job. She also learns that not all ghosts are totally evil, which becomes crucial in future episodes.
So until now we know that:
Valerie hates ghosts due to an incident that ruined her life.
Has a crush on Danny but doesn't like Phantom.
Is Training to be a ghost hunter
Her relationship with Danny is very complicated.
I noticed how Valerie has only two episodes in season 1 despite being one of the most interesting characters in the show.
As for Danny's arc:
Tumblr media
Since he is the protagonist, i'll write a short summary of his arc in season 1:
This season is mainly about him learning how to control his powers while growing up into a responsible teenager. In some episodes, he slowly grows to understand that not all ghosts are evil and don´t want to harm anyone (Like Cujo and Wulf). He also solves conflicts without his "punching first, ask questions later". He grows closer with his family, specially his sister Jazz, who finds about his secret.
Besides these character arcs "Fright Night" is an episode that introduces the Fright Night, who later serves as a secondary antagonist in "Reign Storm".
Why did i talked about all these arcs? Because they all become important for Reign Storm.
Danny's, Vlad's and Valerie's arcs were all building up for this specific episode. So, when you watch this "Reign Storm" you already know who these characters are, their personalities and development.
You know where Vlad got the key to open the ghost king's prision. You know about Danny's and Vlad's rivalry. You know why Valerie decides to team up with Phantom. You also know all the ghosts that help Danny during his battle against the Ghost King.
Reign Storm is a great episode on its own but it works so well because of all the set up and foreshadowing in season 1. It feels rewarding so see everything paying off in this episode.
Now i'm going to explain my issue with The Ultimate Enemy:
There's very little built up and foreshadowing for such an important episode.
I mean,look at this:
Tumblr media
There are only two episode between Reign Storm and The ultimate enemy.
Identity Crisis, which establishes that halfas can be separated.
The fenton Menace that focus on Danny and Jazz relationship and is important for the special.
There is very little build up to Dan's character or his tragic origins. Or how crazy the whole episode is in comparison to the rest of the series.
You could argue that "Control Freaks" and "Memory Blank" foreshadow alternative timelines and Dan (even if Memory Blank makes no sense). But still doesn't feel enough. The series would need more a few more episodes to develop Danny´s character.
Like, why no an episode about him hurting someone with his ghost powers? Or him thinking he is turning evil? Why no an episode about Vlad showing he still has some humanity left inside him foreshadowing his alternative future self?
It doesn't help that The ultimate enemy lacks continuity: Danny having a dark side? Vlad actually showing he is capable of feeling sorry? Danny going to an alternative future caused by him and not having nightmares about it? A Fusion of two powerful ghosts? The ending hinting at Dan returning? (Which he never did because the show was cancelled)
Sure, Jazz and Danny relationship changes ,that's great, and Clockwork appears in Masters of time again.
However, The ultimate enemy introduced so many great concepts and they weren´t that well-explored in later episodes, which is a pity. The special itself is very entertaining but i think i would had worked better as a story arc finale and not airing two episodes after Reign Storm.
It´s also a bit weird since there are other episodes that have build up like Flirting with Disaster, Secret Weapons, Kindred Spirits yet this The Ultimate Enemy doesn´t.
I would have really liked for the writers of show to have more time to create an arc about Dan and not just two episodes. Or at least return in a season finale. That would have been a great idea.

Dumb thoughts on the Child Avatars AU
I dunno, just some dumb ideas I’ve had since I started talking about the AU online/brainstorming about it. (Putting it under a readmore for everyone’s sake)
The “Daisy kidnaps Jon” situation in this AU is Daisy riding her bike to Simon Fairchild’s mansion, holding a water-gun up to both Mike and Jon’s heads, and ordering them to ride with her to the grocery store to buy soda and hang out at a nearby playground for the day. Cue Elias flipping tf out when Jon isn’t at Simon’s place when he goes to pick him up later, Simon being half asleep because he was napping while the kids hung out, and Mike getting soaked by Daisy before he agrees to go with her, and since this happens in, like, late fall or early winter, he gets pneumonia afterwards and can’t hang out for awhile, leading to the kids jokingly saying he’s dead. Btw the only reason the trio was found is because Basira was invited after they made it to the park, and she convinced Daisy to let the boys go home. Daisy literally only kidnapped them because she wanted to play with someone.
Also the Buried!Daisy arc is Daisy getting eaten by a Buried controlled sandbox and Jon jumping in after her. The rest of the kids, who thankfully witnessed this, spent the next three hours digging for them, with Breekon & Hope eventually joining in to help since they were in the area. Daisy and Jon form a trauma bond afterwards and are now best friends.
Jon keeps getting marked by shit and it’s stressing Elias out because hE’S NOT READY FOR THE WATCHER’S CROWN YET!!! He needs more time to prepare, but his son is literally getting marked faster than fucking Sonic.
Speaking of Sonic, seeing as the “Console Wars” (Sega vs Nintendo) are happening during this time period, the kids take the rivalry Very Seriously. The biggest arguments are had between Sasha, Daisy, Julia, and Mike, who are all on Team Sega, and Jon, Martin, Tim, and Danny, who are all on Team Nintendo.
Sasha, close to tears she’s so angry: “Sega DO what NintenDON’T, Tim!!!”
When Martin was born, he only had one thick clump of curly hair that was white, but as he’s grown older and entered the Lonely multiple times, more of his hair has begun to turn white. As of the time of the AU “starting” (so when he’s 8 years old), he looks like he has white highlights in his hair.
Trevor isn’t a fully-fledged Hunt avatar yet, but the girls more or less are, so if you’ve ever watched Wolf Children, that’s pretty much the situation Trevor is currently trapped in. His daughters keeping changing into wolf pups and running wild as he frantically tries to hide their powers from anyone who isn’t Gerry.
(All of the kids secretly know already, even Basira.)
Basira is pretty much the only “normal” kid of the avatar children, save MAYBE for Tim, but he’s been deeply marked by the circus and has a few tiny powers (think S3 Jon as he was figuring out some of his powers, but wasn’t a full-on Archivist just yet).
The season 1 gang (including Danny) are the closest group of friends in the AU, save for Daisy and Basira’s friendship, and they hang out a lot at each other’s homes on the weekends.
Adelard usually brings Jane with him for his “trips” away from the institute, so it’s not unusual for her to be gone for long periods of time. But she always sends postcards and gifts to the institute for everyone!
Helen is three years old, so theoretically she should be able to talk, but she rarely does so, preferring to communicate via giggles and laughter. Only Jon, the Stoker brothers, and Michael can understand her, and they take turns translating for everyone else.
Whenever she’s brought to the institute, Helen takes to toddling around after Jon and Martin, giggling up a storm the whole time. Jon finds it a bit annoying while Martin is endlessly amused by her antics.
A list of the guardian’s/adult’s ages before I fucking forget (as of when the AU “starts” in 1994): Gertrude Robinson - 62, Elias Bouchard “Jonah Magnus” - 51 (200+), Peter Lukas - 55, Simon Fairchild - 83 (300+), Gerard “Gerry” Keay - 30, Michael Shelley - 32, Alfred Grifter - Unknown, Adelard Dekker - 48, Nikola Orsinov - 30ish (100+), Annabelle Cane - 34 (Unknown), Trevor Herbert - 47, Agnes Montague - 25ish (60+), Jude Perry - 35, Jared Hopworth - 29, The Admiral - 10.
The “good” parents all keep trying to set up some kind of PTA meeting so they can actually talk about how to raise these supernatural kids properly, but it keeps going horribly wrong; last time they tried, Alfred Grifter and his band showed up and nearly made Simon go deaf, so no one wants to initiate the next attempt at a meeting.
Tbh, at this point the Fear rituals are more successful than Elias’s shitty attempts at forming a PTA.
At some point in the AU Gerry, Michael, and Trevor all pitch in to buy a decently big house together, which leads to some serious Shenanigans now that Melanie is around Michael and Trevor’s kids/wards... let’s just say there’s gonna be a lot of knife related accidents.
Gerry taught Melanie how to fight when he took her in and it is the single worst decision he’s ever made in his short, goth life, even if he’ll never admit it. Melanie can now beat the shit out of everyone but Julia and Daisy, and it’s pure chaos every time. Tim puts up a decent fight, but he’s been spoiled on easy wins over his brother all his life. Jon tries and fails to so much as push her. Martin runs away crying before Melanie even throws the first punch. Needless to say, the other kids are very cautious about playing with Melanie now.
None of the kids have an education of any kind except for Mike. I’m serious; the only kid who’s decently educated is being raised by Foxy Grandpa Off His Shits McGee! Julia and Daisy have had some public education but not much, Elias refuses to do anything but home-school Jon yet he sucks shit at math, Tim and Danny don’t even know what a school fucking looks like, Melanie and Jane were too young to go to school when they became avatars, Martin has only recently been allowed near other kids so fuck public school (Peter can do math but Nothing Else), Annabelle fucking forgot to give Sasha any kind of an education outside of Web stuff, and Helen is still a very small child. None of these kids have gone to school for more than a few years at most and dear g-d is that gonna suck for them later down the line.
As a result of this, Basira has taught the other kids a few things when she’s come over and insisted on playing “school” with everyone, but she’s still just a kid and can’t always get them to pay attention during her lessons.
Because of this Rosie, Gerry, Michael, and Gertrude have all started making an effort to more or less home-school all of the kids, which has gone... well enough, I suppose. However, things have recently taken a weird turn since Jon keeps giving everyone the answers to assignments/tests via telepathy.
Jon: Whoa, you can make tea all by yourself, Martin!? Martin: Yeah, I’ve been doing it by myself since I was a toddler. I can also do laundry, mop floors, vacuum, and cook a few things, too! Tim: Wow, that’s really cool, Martin! I wish I could do stuff like that. Gertrude, off to the side: *Gives Peter a horrified look* I’m sorry, but did Martin just say he’s been making tea on his own since he was a toddler? Peter:  ╮(╯ _╰ )╭  Unfortunately, I’m severely depressed.
Yeeeeeeeah, Martin’s in a similar childhood situation to his canon one, but at least there are people actually willing to help him out of it in this universe. Also, Peter will clean himself up at some point here, he’s just still dealing with more or less disowning himself from his family and learning hoe to not be so lonely.
Speaking Of Which, the Lukas family are pretty big antagonists in this AU, primarily through Peter’s mother (I’ll come up with a name for her later if I can’t find it on the wiki), who is trying to kidnap Martin and more or less feed him to the Lonely so Peter will get over his “childish feelings” and return to being her favorite child.
And yes, she DOES accidentally kidnap Jon instead at some point... this kid can literally not avoid getting kidnapped.
I like to think Mike and Julia are really good friends in this AU, being the closest in age and all. They hang out a lot since their dads are both so chill and won’t get upset about it, the two of them mostly just playing video games, watching movies, and biking around their respective neighborhoods together.
(Also they may or may not be responsible for a statement that involves a woman seeing a “flying wolf” passing over London... they’ve yet to confess to it, but Elias is dead certain they’re behind the incident.)
The worms incident is 100% Jane’s secret worm collection getting fucking loose... she was keeping them in the walls “for safe keeping” and No One Fucking Knew, not even Elias, until Jon saw a spider, punched the wall, and Revealed them.
Jon and Tim got their scars because Jane lost control of the worms and they burrowed into the kids. Cue a very panicked 999 call from someone in the institute and Child Services almost getting involved, but Elias managed to cover it up.
Afterwards, Jon is incredibly self-conscious about his worm scars, but Martin tells him “now we both have freckles!” and it honestly makes him feel a little better about the whole thing.
Also Adelard makes an effort to track down a child psychologist/counselor with institute ties so he can get Jane some therapy/help controlling her powers. He loves her to the moon and back, and he’s terrified of her getting traumatized by what she accidentally did.
During the incident, a Notthem gets loose from Artifact Storage and attacks Sasha, but seeing as Sasha is of the Web and the Notthem is connected to a Web artifact, it only manages to really hurt her, but thankfully not kill her. She ends up hospitalized for a few weeks, but comes out fine later on. The table mysteriously disappears afterwards, and no one knows if it was Gertrude or Annabelle’s doing, but either way, the kids never have to deal with a Notthem again.
At some point I wanna get into Jon’s paranoia in season 2 for this AU, but I’m considering changing it from being because of the Jane Prentiss issue to be because of Mr. Spider almost killing him. I dunno how exactly it’ll play out, but I think it has a lot of potential!
Okay, before I end this post full of weird rambling ideas for the AU, I wanna make a list of the powers that the kids have at the time of the story “starting”/the ones they develop down the line because Jonny Sims himself said that all avatars have different powers, and I really wanna infodump on my thoughts for the kids!
Current powers of Jonathan Sims-Bouchard: Can simply know things whenever he wants to (so long as the Eye lets him, but the Eye sometimes keeps him from knowing anything he isn’t mature enough to handle), can compel people to tell him things (the other kids are better at resisting it, and so are other people touched by the Eye), can survive on very little food if he’s fed mostly statements/other people’s trauma, can non-consensually feel the pain and emotions of the people around him, has some weak telepathy powers, and he can subconsciously summon tape recorders.
Future powers of Jonathan Sims-Bouchard: Increased healing abilities, can know most anything if he tries, ability to resist other Eye avatars’ compulsions, can survive purely off of statements/other people’s trauma, can choose whether or not to feel the pain and emotions of the people around him, has much stronger telepathy powers than before, can force himself into people’s minds and read their thoughts, and he can summon tape recorders at will (though some still show up without his knowledge sometimes).
Current powers of Martin Blackwood-Lukas: Can disappear into the Fog for several hours at a time (he cannot be seen by anyone but other Lonely avatars while in the fog), can summon clouds of fog that he can momentarily hide things in (including people), can “banish” most anyone into the fog, and has “Sea Captain Eyes” (he knows where the Tundra is at all times, and can lead someone to it without a map or compass).
Future powers of Martin Blackwood-Lukas: Can change his hair color at will (only to red, white, and a mix of the two colors), can see much better in the Fog and can find anyone he’s pushed into it, can more or less teleport using the Fog, and he has what’s more or less a pocket dimension of fog for storage/hiding his friends from danger (think the inside of Gems in Steven Universe).
Current powers of Tim Stoker-Orsinov: Can make small bipedal toys “come to life” for a few minutes at a time (they can’t talk or communicate; only move around and perform small tasks/dances), can tell when a Notthem is masquerading as someone else, is supernaturally talented at gymnastics, and can dance alongside the creatures of the Stranger without being fully corrupted by them.
Future powers of Tim Stoker-Orsinov: Better control over the powers he already has as well as a high tolerance for the Spiral.
Current powers of Danny Stoker-Orsinov: Can order around creatures of the Stranger against their will, can tell when a Notthem is masquerading as someone else, can dance alongside the creatures of the Stranger without being fully corrupted by them, is supernaturally talented at gymnastics, and can change his voice to anything he likes (not always intentionally, though).
Future powers of Danny Stoker-Orsinov: Can more or less “teleport” to other circus locations by walking into theaters, can now change his voice to whatever he likes with his knowledge and consent, can take over as the Stranger’s ringmaster if necessary, can trigger a mesmerizing dance whenever he’d like, and has a high tolerance for the Spiral.
Current powers of Sasha James-Cane: Can communicate with spiders and have them send messages to other Web avatars, can read minds if she tries really hard, can “trap“ other entities in large webs that she can summon (takes a lot of energy), and she has Spider-Man-like abilities (can walk on walls and ceilings, can carry much more than her weight should allow, etc).
Future powers of Sasha James-Cane: Can now read minds without too much effort, can navigate almost any area that’s being controlled/influenced by the Web, can create webs without nearly as much effort as before, can transform her body to have more arms, legs, and eyes, and she now has venomous fangs (which can thankfully be controlled and/or hidden).
Current powers of Alice “Daisy” Tonner: Can turn into a wolf at will/when she’s especially emotional, can smell blood from several miles away, and has supernatural senses/physical abilities.
Future powers of Alice “Daisy” Tonner: Can now track most any monster she’s hunting once she gets at least one good look at them, can communicate with other Hunters via howling, and can navigate the Buried if needed (though this is very triggering for her and will cause her to pass out afterwards).
Current powers of Julia Montauk: Can turn into a wolf at will/when she’s especially emotional, can smell blood from several miles away, has supernatural senses/physical abilities, can track most any monster if she knows their name, can communicate with other Hunters via howling, and she can shift into a bipedal werewolf when she feels like she’s in danger.
Future powers of Julia Montauk: All of her previous powers have drastically improved, plus she has better control of them now.
Current powers of Basira Hussain: She has common fucking sense, something almost none of the other children have.
Future powers of Basira Hussain: She common sense AND she has a werewolf GF now. :) ((No dating for the babies, not until they’re at least teenagers))
Current powers of Melanie King-Grifter: Can listen to Grifter’s Bone without being damaged in any way, the music of Grifter’s Bone makes her powers exemplified for a period of time after she listens to it, the smell of blood triggers her to become violent, she can summon sharp weapons (knives, swords, etc) from thin air, and she can see a red aura around other people who have been marked by the Slaughter.
Future powers of Melanie King-Grifter: She has much better control of her abilities now, she can perform Grifter’s Bone songs for people and keep them from dying/going feral, and she can now also summon other weapons from thin air (guns, baseball bats, etc).
Current powers of Oliver Banks: Can see people’s deaths a week in advance via his dreams, he sees dark tentacles around people who are going to die soon, can see but not talk to ghosts, and he can smell death on anyone who’s undead/controlling other people’s bodies.
Future powers of Oliver Banks: Can raise the dead and control them to do his bidding (takes a lot of energy), can speak cat (not End related; Admiral related), and he can cause people to die within the week if he touches them in his dreams.
Current powers of Georgie Barker: Can see a “death countdown” over people who are going to die within the next thirty days, doesn’t feel any fear whatsoever, can see but not talk to ghosts, and she sees a dark sludge staining the clothes of people who have been marked by the End.
Future powers of Georgie Barker: Can bring people back to life for a minute or so by touching them (think Pushing Daisies type powers), can speak cat (not End related; Admiral is best cat dad), and she can communicate with ghosts much better now.
Current powers of Jane Prentiss-Dekker: Can summon bugs of most kinds from her mouth and under her fingernails, can communicate with bugs, and can fight off most diseases without any trouble.
Future powers of Jane Prentiss-Dekker: Can now completely control bugs via a hive mind effect, can summon bugs from anywhere on her body, has much stronger healing abilities than Jon, and she can see invisible bugs crawling on the skin of those who the Corruption wants her to get rid of (it’s hard for her not to give in to it’s desires).
Current powers of Mike Crew-Fairchild: Can levitate/fly at will, can summon clouds of any kind (rain, thunder, snow, etc) in any conditions, has much higher resistance to the weather/temperature, and he can “banish” people into the Vast at will.
Future powers of Mike Crew-Fairchild: Same as before, but with slightly better control than he had as a teenager.
Current powers for Helen Richardson-Shelley: Can change the world around her to be more like the Spiral (adding more doors, changing the colors of things, causing hallucinations, etc), can change any door into a doorway into the Spiral, and she can amplify her voice (very hard to control as a baby).
Future powers for Helen Richardson-Shelley: Can now summon doors that lead to the Spiral from thin air, has much better control over her powers and abilities than before, can morph her body to be longer and sharper at will, and she can “banish” people into the endless hallways of the Spiral.
((Holy shit, that took awhile))
Anyways, here’s a playlist I made for the AU, feel free to scream at me for my very weird taste in music: Pinky Swear That You Won’t Go Changing

Cliches
This goes along with the Dannymay day 7 prompt: 2nd chances
I don’t know where I came up with this. I just started writing and didn’t stop. I tried to do a story without using dialogue, and I think I succeeded. I had to write this for a school assignment, so I had to explain the Danny Phantom world a bit because my teacher had no idea what it is.
Cliches are a wonderful thing. We cling to them like lifelines, hoping for a good "happily ever after" to make everything better. In fact, I'm sure you were expecting a "Once upon a time" to start off the story now weren't you.
Yeah, you were.
Well I'm sorry to disappoint you, but here, there are no cliches. No long-lived and well-loved story arcs to follow, no "good guys" or "bad guys" or save the world scenarios. Here, the princess rescues the prince and the dragon is locked in the tower. Here, the evil stepfather can't get the upper hand over his rebellious teen son. Here, the protagonists are monsters and the villains are heroes.
Probably the only cliche in the whole story is the existence of myself, the narrator, who will shamelessly add my own thoughts and commentary to the story as I please; simply because I can.
Pleased to meet you.
Now, with hasty introductions out of the way, let’s get down to business. I am here to tell you a story, though I’m sure you already knew that. It is my job as narrator, to lovingly guide you through the history, lore, and thrilling storyline that the author has painstakingly crafted for you to enjoy. You’re welcome.
Let’s just jump straight into it shall we? I’m sure you already know everything there is to know about Amnity Park, and you don’t need me to tell you about their slightly paranormal pest problem. Surely you don’t need me to inform you about the daily ghost attacks, or the ghostly superhero known as Phantom who repeatedly confronts the angry spirit and either persuades them or forces them back across the veil. Assuredly, you know all about Phantom’s tragic backstory, of how he was caught in the veil between dimensions, and was officially turned into Schrödinger’s boy -both living and dead simultaneously. Of course you already know about the struggles of being both a hero and a high school student, missing class and skipping sleep in order to keep his city (and his secret) safe. I don’t need to tell you about the ghost hunters in town, who relentlessly hunt and attack Phantom without warning, oblivious that he is their son.
No, you already knew all of that.
Still, it is quite tragic to see a family pitted against one another, even if it is due to ignorance. Danny Phantom is nowhere near being ready to confide in his parents, but progress always starts with a first step. This story is that first step.
Let’s meet our protagonist, shall we?
Daniel James Fenton -or Danny, as he prefers to be called- is a good looking kid. Tall and muscular, without the air of privilege or haughtiness that often surrounds such people. His messy black hair and sparkling blue eyes are enough to make any girl swoon, though he does not seek out such attention, preferring instead to mess around with his two best friends. While most boys his age spend their nights drinking or partying, Danny spends his stargazing (or more recently, ghost fighting). He truly is the ideal high school boyfriend -but don’t let him hear me say that, he’s a flustered dork most of the time. He does his best to avoid the limelight, even letting the other kids bully him if it means that he won’t be looked at twice.
Danny Phantom however, has no qualms with spotlights. In fact, he doesn’t mind them at all as long as they don’t get in the way or result in other people getting hurt. His ghostly form does not look dissimilar to Fenton, swapping black hair for blinding white and blue eyes for toxic green. His normal T-shirt and jeans shift into a full body, black HAZMAT suit with white gloves and the trademark DP logo on the front. It is rather easy to spot, especially when he’s flying around and glowing.
To hide his alternate identity, Danny created two different personas for his two halves, slipping seamlessly into character whenever it is needed. Phantom is brash and hot-headed, a master at distracting his enemies with witty banter and endless puns. Fenton is cowardly and shy, infamous for being too clumsy to handle glassware. Fenton is terrified of ghosts, Phantom hunts them. Phantom is willing to sacrifice his own safety and wellbeing for others, Fenton gets misty-eyed over papercuts. This way, even if someone had thought that a ghost and a human could be the same, no one would ever suspect the two to be connected.
It was crucial that the two were never suspected. If the world knew that half-ghosts  existed, Danny’s identity as a human would be overshadowed by his identity as a ghost. Ghosts don’t have rights, therefore Danny wouldn’t have rights. There would be nothing to stop anyone from marching down and kidnapping him for use in loads of painful and most likely unethical experiments. After all, the popular opinion on ghosts was that they were evil, semi-sentient projections who could feel no pain. That doesn’t do much to help his case.
The people need to be convinced that Phantom was a hero, and that process starts with his parents. The Fentons are the leading ghost hunters in Amnity, and they have dedicated their life to catching and researching ghosts, even if they aren’t very good at it. They are a perfect team. Maddie is thin and slender, and her blue HAZMAT suit does nothing to hide her curves, but she is not weak in the slightest. Her proficiency in martial arts and science is renowned throughout the city, and every thug knows not to mess with the red-haired mother. Jack, however, has the dexterity of a brick wall and the mass to rival an elephant. He looms menacingly over all who approach him, but his childish nature and agreeable personality make it easy for him to interact with others -even if he is a little too passionate about his profession.
The Fentons are stubborn, but not bullheaded. They can see reason when they need to, and unfortunately, with the infamous Phantom of Amnity Park bleeding out on their doorstep, they need to reevaluate their theories.
Phantom lay slumped against the porch railing, eyelids fluttering as he struggled to remain awake. It was a rather gruesome sight, and if Maddie didn’t know that he was a ghost, then she would be furious at whoever dared do this to a child. His right arm pressed hard against his wounded side, soaking the white glove in acid-green, ectoplasmic blood. A nasty gash on his forehead leaked the same vile liquid into his snowy white hair, plastering it against his sweaty, pale skin. In all honesty, he looked like he had brought a toothpick to a knife fight.
The Fentons frowned at each other, debating their next move. They knew how this happened, news of Phantom’s latest battle against the hunter ghost known as Skulker had been broadcasted on every television for the past three hours, what they didn’t know, and couldn’t figure out, was why Phantom had come here. They were his enemies, for all intents and purposes, they were very loud about their threats to rip him apart. But here he was, bleeding out on their porch, and Maddie found herself fighting between her hunter’s curiosity and her motherly worry.
Phantom didn’t look older than her own son, Danny. She hadn’t noticed that before, but now it was painfully obvious how young he was. It also struck her that he was a ghost, which means at some point or another Phantom had been alive. She couldn’t imagine losing Danny, and this ghost didn’t look older than seventeen.
She sighed, and scooped the hero up into her arms. The hunting could wait. It was against the hunter’s code to kill anything that you hadn’t weakened yourself, anyways, best to fix him up and let him be on his way. She could chase him down again later.
Now I know you’re thinking, “but Mr. Narrator, isn’t the hunter nursing the huntee back to health and becoming friends a huge cliche?” And to that I say, yes. However, that is not what we’re doing here. They do not become friends and instantly trust each other because of this little incident. This is a first step, nothing more.
After calming her husband’s fears, and assuring him that she was fine, Maddie cleared off the dining room table and laid the ghost on top. He had lost consciousness at some point while she moved him, and his head lolled back as she set him down. She frowned at the ghost, listening to his labored breaths. Ghosts didn’t need to breathe, but Phantom had always insisted. She never knew why.
Jack walked up the stairs from the lab, carrying a spool of glowing green thread. Phantom’s wounds would need stitches, and the special thread wouldn’t fall out when he used his power of intangibility. Silently, she stitched up his side, flinching at his whimpers he made every time the needle made contact. She had to remind herself that he was a ghost, and therefore couldn’t feel pain. Any reaction he gave was just part of an elaborate ruse.
You and I both know that wasn’t true.
She nodded as Jack brought her some bandages, holding his head upright in order for her to wrap them around his ectoplasm-stained hair. A neon green stain spread out on the tabletop, seeping into the wood. This was fine, she would just have to clean it later so the ectoplasm didn’t bring any food to life.
Satisfied that there were no other major lacerations, she once again scooped up the teenaged hero and moved him slowly to the couch. His unnecessary breathing had evened out, and she could feel a faint, slow, rhythmic thump against the fingers pressed on the base of his neck. It couldn’t be a heartbeat. Ghosts don’t have heartbeats. It must’ve been her imagination.
As you can see, Maddie is not very receptive to new ideas.
Laying him on the couch, she expertly ignored the slight hiss he made as his stitches stretched. He began to softly snore. She left the room. Jack was not much help when she explained what she’d felt, merely parroting her feelings back to her with a few insults directed at the ghostly species thrown in. “Ectoplasmic scum” was a popular one, along with “spook” and “monster.” Maddie didn’t know why she didn’t agree with those insults anymore.
A soft groan echoed from the other room, and Jack jumped to his feet to grab weapons. Maddie stopped him with a hand on his shoulder. Phantom was no threat now, maybe she could get some answers out of him. A strangled, frightened yelp called from the living room, along with a loud thump and a groan. Upon investigation, she found Phantom on the living room carpet, curled up into a ball and shaking. A small pool of his green blood had soaked through the bandages and was now leaving little polka-dots on the rug.
Phantom apologized for the carpet.
At first, Maddie was taken aback. Phantom was hurt. Phantom had nearly died. Again. And he was apologizing about the stains on her rug. She didn’t expect most humans to be that selfless, much less a ghost. Nevertheless, Phantom was apologizing for the carpet, as a thin line of green dribbled down from the corner of his mouth.
She sighed and drew closer, eyes softening as Phantom flinched and tried to back away. She continued to advance, slower this time, and murmured words of encouragement as she approached. The ghosts glowing eyes held suspicion, but he did not flinch away this time. His usual witty banter was gone, much to Maddie’s worry, replaced by the soft pleas of a frightened child. A child faced with death, who did not want to die.
She called Jack into the room, and asked him to grab some bedding from the storage closet. She had made up her mind. Phantom was not a threat. Jack warily nodded and left to do as she asked, and Maddie gently took Phantom up in her arms again, wiping the green liquid from his face. He stiffened at the contact, but made no move to escape.
Soon enough, Jack returned with a feather comforter and several pillows. With Phantom’s telekinetic help, they made a soft nest and placed him gently inside. Maddie fussed over him as Jack stood to the side suspiciously.
Needless to say, Phantom was very confused. Why was his parents helping him? They hate Phantom. Did they see him change back into human form? Is that why they're being so nice? No, Maddie kept calling him “Phantom,” if she knew, she would call him “Danny” or “Sweety.” His secret was safe for now.
That still begged the question of why they were helping him, and when he asked, their only reply was along the lines of “you’re not a threat,” which really did more harm than good when it came to calming his nerves.
Nevertheless, they had saved him, and so when Maddie asked for an interview, Phantom didn’t decline. Their questions were standard, if a bit rude. They were nothing he hadn’t answered before, and he only had to lie twice, when their questions got a little too personal. He refused to answer how he died. They didn’t need to know that.
His healing factor had kicked in, rapidly knitting the skin back together and repairing the damage to his muscles. The room had gotten progressively more relaxed as time went on, and Jack was no longer shooting glares at him from across the room. Instead, he was questioning him with just as much zeal as Maddie. However, Phantom could feel his time here drawing to a close. Danny Fenton needed to be back home before curfew, and he couldn’t do that if Danny Phantom was in the living room.
Hastily making an excuse to leave, he said goodbye to his parents and phased through the door before they could catch him. His head, which had been overtaken by an awful headache, protested as he flew down the street and into an alley, but he paid it no mind. Unwinding the bandages around his head, Phantom felt his transformation overtake him.
His heartbeat sped up, his temperature rose, and his breathing grew more frequent. Granted, his heartbeat and breathing still weren’t exactly fast, and his temperature wasn’t exactly warm, but he could pass as human and that’s all that mattered. Seconds later, Danny Fenton exited the alley and headed home, walking carefully as not to disturb the stitched side under his shirt.
When he arrived home, his parents were whispering in hushed voices, glancing over at the couch occasionally. They greeted him excitedly as he walked inside, before running downstairs to the lab to go over what Phantom had told them. What Danny had told them.
He sighed and scaled the steps, making a beeline for the door to his room. He should start his homework, but then again, chances are the ghosts aren’t going to let him sleep tonight, so he should take a nap while he can. Not bothering to change clothes, Danny flopped onto his mattress, asleep before he hit the covers.
In the later weeks, the Fentons would continue to search for Phantom. However, now it was for conversational purposes instead of experimental ones.  He even visited on his own time once or twice for a chat. The overall acceptance of Phantom increased as well, because if the ghost hunters thought he was okay, then the rest of the people would follow. It wasn’t perfect, but it was better than before, and that’s all Danny could really ask for.
Who knew it took nearly dying to repair broken relationships?
Well, I did, for one, but I don’t count. I already know how Danny’s story ends. I know how his secret is revealed, and how his parents react. I know who will hurt him, who will betray him, and who will make amends. I know lots of things, including this: Danny will not live happily ever after. He just won't. There will always be more ghosts to fight, more threats to his friends and family, and he will not live happily ever after. His life will be filled with struggle and pain, and there’s nothing I can do to stop that.
His afterlife however...well, that’s another story.
I should tell you sometime.

My Thoughts on Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks
Or: Are we sure this didn’t come out in 2004 rather than 2014? Because the “battle of the bands”  story line feels super dated for some reason. I feel like almost every early 2000s cartoon had some sort of music contest episode, and I never liked them. I blame American Idol for making those popular.
Some History:
I’m under the impression that everything in this movie I dislike is a completely subjective thing that wouldn’t bother someone else. I know that, from a movie standpoint, this is much better than the first, but I just don’t like it as much. Everything that warrants complaint comes from a personal hangup that I have (such as: my lack of any musical ability causes me to not care at all whether their band is successful), so if you disagree, I completely understand. These are all my opinions, and I’m aware that this is probably the best of the four movies. (As stated on a previous post, I haven’t watched any of the shorts from 2017 or 2018 as of this entry)
There were a series of promotional shorts released before the movie debuted that explains how the members of the Main 5 came to play their instruments in Rainbow Dash’s band, and some other random stuff. Here’s the link to the playlist on youtube. Here’s a quick rundown of what I think:
Music to My Ears : meh
Guitar Centered : funny, but kind of mean spirited
Hamstocalypse Now : Hilarious.
Pinkie on the One : exactly what you’d expect it to be
Player Piano: a masterpiece
A Case for the Bass: Applejack is one word, why would she have AJ embroidered on the strap? I know people call her that but those aren’t her initials
Life is a Runway: There’s a reason they didn’t let Rarity write the songs
Shake Your Tale: Bad.
This was a pretty clever way to establish some musical background within the group without taking up time in the movie. It also is some sneaky foreshadowing with Trixie, which I appreciate.
In the actual movie: My nitpicks are going to be less Why is no one in class? Why is doesn’t anyone have homework? Because I realize this is a movie and depicting high school as it actually is would be boring to watch. Besides, there are plenty of other things to complain about.
We open on a scene of this film’s villains. And yes I am going to refer to them as villains instead of antagonists because 1) they are actually a threat and we see them doing bad things, and 2) other people will serve as antagonists. A villain is different from an antagonist, even though the terms are often used interchangeably.
Tumblr media
The Dazzlings are so cool, they make a cameo four years later. Either this is some really deep foreshadowing, or by season seven the writers were so desperate for an ongoing arc, they looked to other properties. But we now know that the guardians banished them over 1,000 years ago. So they really are ancient magic. And now they have to go to high school. Talk about eternal torment…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Way to take all the credit, Starswirl
We are shown how they are a sort of siren, who feed off of people’s negativity and discord and use their beautiful enchanted voices to cause mayhem. Kind of like a mix between Ursula the sea witch and Spectra from Danny Phantom. Oh my gosh, this is the second one of these reviews that I’ve brought up Danny Phantom. Maybe this is why Butch thinks he’s so popular.
Tumblr media
The Dazzlings, we can infer, have been exiled to the EQG-verse from Equestria. So apparently this universe is like the pony version of colonial Australia, where they send all their criminals and miscreants. A solid plan that couldn’t have any negative repercussions. The sirens see a beam of light that must be the one from the last movie. This is good news for them, but bad news for me because now I have no idea how much time has passed the two films. Has it been a couple days? Weeks? Moons? This will make a difference in regards to why people still don’t trust Sunset. But why waste time setting up the story when we can get right into the remix title card?
At this point, I can only assume that principal Celestia threatened to expel students if they told the news or the FBI about the magical winged demon that attacked the school, because no one seems too concerned about that incident.
Tumblr media
But they have plenty of time to hurt my baby’s feelings
I’m going to be honest, when I first watched EQG I thought that Sunset was faking her remorseful act after being defeated. As cool as that would have been, she makes a much better reformed bad guy than an antagonist, because she really wasn’t in the last movie that much.
List of “evil” things Sunset Shimmer has done: send fraudulent text messages and emails that honestly could have been pretty easily disproved, made fun of Fluttershy, made fun of the steamers in the gym, somehow divided the school into cliques, ran a mostly unsuccessful smear campaign against Twilight’s bid for dance princess, threatened to destroy the portal to Equestria, transformed into a demon to hypnotize the students, and she dissed the Apple cider.
Ok, that last one is pretty evil. But what really makes this and all subsequent movies great is that we get to see her learn and grow and change from the experience into a real friend.
I am glad to see that the Main 5 have forgiven her, but no one is quite ready to absolve her of guilt. Like, I might not think she did all that much bad junk, but the students of Canterlot High seem to think she was one tier below Mussolini  in terms of maniacal dictators, so I don’t blame them for being cautious. It takes a lot to earn back trust.
Back in Equestria proper, the Mane six plus Spike are sitting around waiting for the plot to affect them. They kindly provide some exposition and once again setup the fact that only Twilight can go through the portal, because the others can’t interact with themselves. So we think. I will be bringing this up when we get to The Friendship Games.
Back through the portal, Twilight  gets looped into the fact that Sunset has changed her ways. It’s fair to be a little apprehensive to trust someone who, the last time you saw them, was an actual literal demon. (Don’t worry though, Twi, you’ve still got two more unicorns to reform. It’s kind of your thing.)
Tumblr media
Don’t reject her love Twilight, it’s all I have to live for
Tumblr media
And now it’s time to discuss the small blue elephant in the room. I feel like I really need to explain why I dislike the addition of Flash to any of the plots. He’s kind of a waste of a potential. You want to add a male character: fine. But make them an actual real fleshed-out character. The show has proven that they can do it and do it well. Sunburst and Thorax are great characters who feel like a good addition to the story. And we got a real sense of who they were in one or two twenty minute episodes. I have no clue what this guy’s purpose is except to be a love interest, and this is not the show to do that with. With very few exceptions, the main characters of MLP have not sought out romantic partners, Twilight included. Why would she choose to do so now? I mean, I get why he’s into Twilight: she’s taken the form of a cute teenage girl. But he’s a species that doesn’t even exist in Equestria. She just fell through a portal and instantly got the hots for some weird otherworldly creature…
Wait a minute. Wait just a minute. Perhaps this isn’t compulsory heterosexuality. Perhaps Twilight Sparkle is just a Monster Lover™. I can respect that.
Moving on.
Tumblr media
It was so very smart of the writers to have the Dazzlings brainwash the principals in order to get away with this scheme. That makes so much more sense and covers any plot holes that could arise (such as, someone claiming to be a new student despite having no transcript, no grades, and no knowledge of how to hold a pen).
Does time work differently between these two universes? Has it been months in Equestria but only a week in this world? (It really threw me off that the first four season of MLP took place over one year, and these movies don’t help that). And the sad thing is, this could be easily hand-waved away by a single throw away line, but it isn’t.
The Dazzlings are already better villains than Sunset, even from a character standpoint. We know their powers, we know their motivation, and we know they are capable of bringing about an actually believable rift between friends.
Then the best song, best montage, and possibly best scene in any of these films happen: the Dazzling come into the lunchroom and hypnotize everyone. This song is beautiful and eerie and exactly what you would expect a magic spell to sound like. I also enjoy the visual representation of the bands competing (and not just because I didn’t want to hear any of them perform) that we’ll see later. To give credit where credit is due, this movies has some great visual sequences.
Tumblr media
Give ‘em the o’l razzle dazzle
At first I thought it was unrealistic that this many kids had bands, but I realized it was probably an effect of the spell. But I might not be the best judge: I think I know maybe three people, plus myself, who don’t play an instrument. I’ll just assume that the Disney channel exists in this universe, and all these children just really want to be famous.
Tumblr media
It’s worth sitting through this movie just to see everyone’s pajamas. That’s not weird, right? No really, the scene of them all having a big slumber party is everything I ever wanted from this series. They managed to capture everyone’s personality from an article of clothing. Now THAT’s good character design.
Tumblr media
I get the distinct impression that the writers of this don’t like Rainbow Dash.
Oh good, references to technology that couldn’t possibly date this movie in the slightest. Wait… this is Pinkie’s house. Aren’t the Pies supposed to be like Amish or resembling Amish-type folk? What is the human equivalent of rock farmers? Not actual farmers because those exist in the pony-verse. This really confuses me, but Maude’s cameo is fantastic.
Tumblr media
The scene with Twilight and Sunset is one of those really well-done moments that reminds me why I love the show so much. It feels really genuine, and supports my argument that it was worth having Sunset as a crappy villain just to reform her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ah yes, the sweet, lingering glances that totally platonic female friends share with each other late at night. I know them well.
Our girl Twily seems to be having trouble writing a spell that can double as a catchy pop song (She’s no Lana Del Rey), so they go with an old set list. How long has this band been operational? Weren’t they in a huge feud for several years?
Tumblr media
Mac is a close second for best cameo
Tumblr media
So we get to watch the band audition, and it goes about as well an actual high school talent show. The CMC are in the outfits from Showstoppers (which is hilarious) and Snips and Snails rap (which is disturbing). In order to keep my goblin brain from exploding while trying to figure out the ages of everyone, I’m just going to assume that this is a combination Middle School and High School. So, if Sunset won fall dance princess four years in a row, she would be in the tenth grade now, so they would be about 15-16. The Equestria Girls Holiday Comic shows Rarity driving a car, so that could be a possibility.
Tumblr media
A. Daft. Punk. Reference. Wow. Just wow. (Note: this was more shocking before season five, when there was a character that was basically Lady Gaga. And by basically, I mean very obviously Lady Gaga. Remember when the pop culture references in this show were subtle?)
Dash’s song is quite possibly the most cringeworthy thing I have ever heard. The only defense is it does sound like something a high schooler would write.
On that note, why is Rainbow Dash the lead singer of the group? I mean, I know why, but WHY? (and yes, I am aware that her voice actress is a singer. But Ashleigh Ball uses her normal voice when she performs. Think back to all the songs RD has sung in the previous four seasons before this aired. There are not a lot of solos or high notes. When she sings as Applejack, it is beautiful, but Dash’s voice is grating sometimes)
Tumblr media
Really? A battle of the bands is the greatest thing you’ve done at the school? That whole “stopping an actual demon with magic” was just a regular Friday for you? I’ll chalk that up to the brainwashing, otherwise I might go full on rage and throw my laptop out a window.
I guess our merry band of protagonists weren’t paying attention to big cafeteria scene, because they just now figured something suspicious is going on.
Tumblr media
Still haven’t fixed the lights in that dim corner of lockers. Fortunately, there are many dramatic confrontations to be had.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think we’re supposed to see Rarity’s obsession with the outfits as a ridiculous thing, but I think it’s important to distinguish this universe from the one with the professional seamstress who has unicorn magic at her disposal. This is a teenager who has school, extracurriculars, and parents to contend with. If I went through the trouble to hand-make seven costumes for my friends, then found out no one would wear them, I’d be pretty ticked off as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now this is how you montage. We get to play a fun game of “guess which characters are in which band,” and seeing their “humanized” designs. Lotta bootcut pants in this show.
Tumblr media
I’m just going to leave this here...
Tumblr media
This is some actually effective villainy. The whole school has turned against each other. Maybe they need to learn about the magic of friendship. Unfortunately, the gang is too busy squabbling over band stuff, and Twilight is too distracted to give an overly emotional speech.
Tumblr media
No one in the rule book does it say magically turning into a pony is grounds for disqualification...I would assume.
If we’re being honest here, the Dazzlings are better performers than the Rainbooms.
And we’ve come to the crux of things. The scene where they’re locked under the stage is the perfect example of my biggest issue with this movie. I do not like to see Mane 6 fight. I don’t like Trade Ya, I don’t like Putting Your Hoof Down, and I despise Look Before You Sleep. Seeing this otherwise close group of friends constantly have petty arguments, even if it’s for completely valid plot reasons, make me want to turn the movie off. This isn’t a criticism of the screenwriting, it is just a reason why I personally dislike Rainbow Rocks more than the other films.
Of course, they make up because this is about the magic of friendship and what not, but notice how no one actually apologizes for their behavior. No, “I’m sorry that I minimized your contribution to the group or made fun of something you were passionate about.” I realize they were under the influence of magic, but they also knew that! They knew the Dazzlings had the power to turn people against each other! An apology is just a preamble to fundamental behavior change, and if they don’t realize why they were being bad friends, how can they learn from anything?
And the real kicker is, they knew what the Dazzlings were capable of. Twilight read a book about them immediately before going through the portal. It’s not they they just learned that they spread chaos. Why are we fighting? Gee, I don’t know.
Tumblr media
DJ-ex-machina. I’m ok with this.
To the movie’s credit, the finale really has one of the best song of the movie. And by that, I of course mean Trixie’s song. Trixie is the most fun addition to the cast. She makes for a fun antagonist, on her own and as a Pawn to the Dazzlings.
Tumblr media
Fight scene! Fight scene! We’re gonna have a fight scene!
Now that they’ve put their petty squabbles behind them, it’s time for a big music battle. The Dazzlings pony up harness the energy of the audience to project their Equestrian selves to...I don’t know. Take over the world or something.
Tumblr media
This isn’t even their final form
Tumblr media
Oh. This design looked better in book form
Tumblr media
Sunset is Magic. That’s the show.
Tumblr media
So the stones auto-tuned them, and that made everyone mindlessly antagonistic. I’m sure there’s some clever commentary there.
T’was the magic of friendship that killed the beast.
Tumblr media
No, you don’t get to just rejoin the plot
Tumblr media
Thank you, Trixie.
The real story here is how Principal Celestia will pay off the press.
Thus Twilight goes back to the land of horses, Starlight has been truly forgiven, and my Netflix suggestions will never been the same again.
I want to give a big shout out to the person who put all the captions on the image gallery for this movie’s wikia page. They are funnier than I could ever hope to be.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some general thoughts:
The scene of Twilight awkwardly yelling “Friendship is magic!” to a room of confused teenagers is the cringiest thing I’ve ever seen, but it got a good laugh out of me. Look at the Dazzlings faces in this scene. “Ok, we legitimately didn’t see that coming.”
Tumblr media
One of the reasons that I am so drawn to the show is that they are able to create conflict and drama without being mean-spirited. I have to deal with that kind of nonsense so much in my daily life, I just don’t want to subject myself to eighty minutes of it. But i get it: from a narrative standpoint, this is the most cohesive. There’s some good set up and pay off, and an actually intimidating villain who is actually present in the plot.
I love Trixie so much, I should be dead. She really is the star of the show. I forgot how little we saw of her before season six.
Tumblr media
The stinger, oh the stinger. Forget what I said about the pajama party; it was worth sitting through this for the promise of an interesting sequel.
Tumblr media
We’ll get to you soon, you marvelous lesbian disaster.
Starlight’s redemption is the best part of this franchise, and it’s worth all the nonsense to hear Rebecca Shoichet’s angelic voice.
From a purely film standpoint, this is probably the best one of the bunch. It has a clear structure, everyone’s motivations check out, there’s an actual climax that feels earned. I just don’t enjoy it. There are worse ways to spend eighty minutes 3.7/5
The worst thing to come from this, however, is the terrifying merchandise:

So I have a Secret Quartet question. How'd the things with Rena Rouge, Carapace, and Queen B go?
Ooh, this is fun to think about. @queenofhearts7378 would have a better answer to that than me (she started the crossover, after all), but if we’re assuming Adrien was part of the Secret Quartet when this happened and Jake, Danny, and Randy weren’t around to help when the other Miraculous holders started turning up, Adrien would probably be asking them for advice.
I mean, he’s supposed to be Ladybug’s partner, but it’s hard not to see it like she’s replacing him, regardless of what she says. And he can’t blame her, because how much help has he been? She’s had to fight him a lot, he’s been caught under the spell of the latest villain many times, sometimes he’s caught in a trap and can’t free himself, and she had to fight without him entirely when Style Queen got him. It would be a major hit to his confidence, especially when that’s on shaky ground considering how little recognition he gets from his father.
Couple that with the fact that Ladybug clearly knows more than he does about everything, that she hasn’t told him the whole story behind where she’s getting the Miraculous or who she’s entrusting them with or why she can suddenly give him things to feed Plagg to change the transformation…. How can he call himself her partner, when the balance of power is so one-sided? Is she trying to distance herself from him because he confessed how he felt? What did he do wrong? Why doesn’t she trust him?
He could talk to Danny, Jake, and Randy after what happened in Style Queen. He doesn’t need to remember it to know. To realize how close he came. It would make him feel so useless. What kind of hero is he if he’s taken out of the fight before he can even begin to help? And the others would share stories of their mistakes and missteps and how they turned those around or handled them, and he’d feel less alone, and less like someone made a mistake giving him the Miraculous.
And working with them? Fight bad guys and winning? It would help. Reassure him that he does have skills, he can fight well, and he wouldn’t need to second guess himself when he fights with Ladybug.
Had the other boys in the Secret Quartet been around to help for those incidents, the Rena Rouge, Carapace, and Queen Bee probably wouldn’t have been needed.
Jake probably has some of Fu’s magic potions kicking around to supplement the magic he doesn’t inherently have, and he’s the only one of the bunch used to a younger sibling. He knows how they think. Even if his dragon eyes can’t spot the real children, he’d be able to come up with something to pick them out. Danny’s ice powers might be enlisted to make some enticing creations, and Randy would learn just how far he can take the Art of Disguise–because no one said that was limited to him.
Even if they didn’t want to torch or freeze the spiderweb for safety reasons, Danny’s intangibility would’ve made that rescue easy.
In the fight with Style Queen, they’d know immediately that Chat Noir was out of the equation because they know who he is, unlike Ladybug. And they’re not exactly ill-equipped to fight someone made of glitter. A Ninja Hydro-Hand would take out clumps at a time even with her trying to shift around their attacks, assuming they don’t want to risk setting fire to everything with either a fireball or Jake’s flames, and Danny could probably ice her in place while she’s trying to dodge someone else’s attack.
When Queen Bee went rogue, even if Jake didn’t have some sort of antidote to her venom, they could have helped slow the train. Danny is strong in ghost mode if he can lift a bus full of children, and Jake can carry a heck of a lot as a dragon. (Even if Danny’s not strong enough to turn the entire train intangible or take it off the tracks, he’ll still make a big difference.) While they’re trying to slow the train down with Ladybug, Randy could decide if he thinks he can actually safely control an element to help here (earth to slow the train without derailing it or wind to increase the wind resistance) or if he’d rather start flinging Ninja Rings at Queen Bee. Because if he can get her Miraculous off and cause her to transform back, that might negate her venom. (He’s willing to try anything at this point, and she seems to be a worse hero than he ever was, so…. Probably best that she doesn’t have it, right? (Randy wouldn’t be thinking about redemption arcs despite the many mistakes he’s made and paid for.)) There’s also the possibility that the Ninja Art of Healing would be able to counteract the paralysis, or at least counteract it enough to allow the conductor to do his job or help them through it.
When Queen Bee got akumatized? Danny, definitely. Intangibility. He could grab her Miraculous and get it to Adrien to destroy. If hit, he might–and this is a bit of a stretch but it’s still a possibility–be able to phase through the venom in his body–and everyone else’s, if they got hit. There’s also the possibility that Jake’s dragon hide is thicker and that the venom would have a lesser effect on him in dragon form or in general just because of his dragon powers/him not being completely human. Randy…Randy would just have to dodge.
Invisibility and intangibility would be really helpful where Maledikator is concerned, too. Jake probably has a handful of spells to try with varying degrees of effectiveness, and Randy is totally willing to try to burn the power sparks out of the sky until it’s made clear that that is a Bad Idea, but the possibility of being turned into a puppet makes Danny’s invisibility–and his ability to transfer it to whoever he’s touching–an ideal tool. He can’t be made a target if they don’t know he’s there. And Randy and Jake would make excellent distractions.
And if all the heroes got together? Expect lots of horrible puns and accompanying groans/cringes, plenty of teasing, maybe a dash of flirting from both sides, and a whole lot of friendly competition. Alya would call for it to be girls against boys. Chloé would be the first one to play dirty–especially because she doesn’t know her precious Adrikins is under Chat Noir’s mask. Marinette’s attempts to calm things down before they explode out of control would be drowned out by enthusiasm. Nino would catch her eye and shrug, then swallow when he spots Rena’s hungry look. Randy, Danny, and Jake would already be trying to come up with plans to get the girls, but if this is Paris, they’re at a disadvantage because they don’t know the territory, and they have to rely on Adrien and Nino for guidance–particularly Adrien, as Nino wouldn’t be used to seeing it from the rooftops (and he’s definitely not used to running them so dragon riding it is), which is probably where the competition would start because they’d be meeting up somewhere away from crowds.

“What’s the matter, Jimmy?” Sarah asks with little to no concern.
Tumblr media
“I’m not allowed to go in there, Sarah. I still have bad dreams. And my Mom had to buy a mattress cover.”
This is the first and only mention of Jimmy’s Mom.
We hardly know Jimmy’s parents. I say hardly because Jonny has never said anything about his parents. Although he does quip that freezing up the house for Christmas is a tradition. It’s never stated whether his parents go along with it too since they appear to be home.
There have been multiple head canons on who Jimmy’s father is. Is he close with him? Is he more close with his mom? I know Jimmy has a big family seeing how he was all set up for a party in Jingle Jingle Jangle. @jenny2x4 recently pointed out that Jimmy’s family may be of higher status. The Eds are Comin’ is the first time we actually see other parts of his house. We’ve only been in his massive bedroom.
This rich head canon turns around my own ideas about Jimmy’s family. Are Jimmy’s parents similar to Edd’s? They’re constantly busy working leaving Jimmy to depend on Sarah as if she were his sister or a parent. And Sarah does take over the motherly role for him.
If Jimmy’s parents are also rarely around it explains how Jimmy and Edd formed a close bond.
From my viewpoint I get that vibe that Jimmy’s mother is almost annoyed about buying the mattress cover. Or she is concerned. How long has Jimmy needed a mattress cover before? If Jimmy is constantly wetting the bed at 8-9 years old this could be a more serious problem.
Jimmy even mentioned that he has/had a therapist in Fa-La-La-La Ed when he couldn’t bring himself to smash is piggy bank. When it was revealed that Jimmy may not have to go through the painful process he told Sarah that he can cancel his therapy. Did he? I hope he didn’t. He was going through a rather rough time post Fistful. I will get into that observation in a short bit.
As for Jimmy’s father the only mention he has ever received was If It Smells as an Ed. As a ruse. Jimmy clearly has the hockey stick which was used to frame the Ed’s. Jimmy tells them spilling clear crocodile tears that his father made him practice upon the Ed’s framing him. And the lie works.
Jimmy is not the most masculine character on the show. His sexuality has been in question. He has quite an imagination and plays with feminine products such as dolls. Though he does tend to take interest in playing sports and hanging out with the Ed’s. He likes spending time with them as he can talk about things he’s not comfortable talking about with Sarah.
I have a head canon that Jimmy’s father used to drink. Jimmy doesn’t rely on Sarah as much in the later seasons 3-5. Not mentally that is. He needs to her to physically fight off others for him.
Jimmy had a major black out and beat Edd to a pulp in Fistful of Ed. He was horrified at the aftermath. The incident affected him so much that his wining didn’t resonate with him. What if he believes that he is turning into his father who is still getting better? He’s beginning to spend more time with him while he slips away from the Ed’s.
Tumblr media
Sarah could care less about Jimmy’s woes.
This is very unlike her. Jimmy has always come first. She appeared in seconds upon Jimmy blowing the whistle in Ed in Half Shell.
Their friendship has been diminishing over time. They bicker more in season 4. I think it’s due to growing up. Jimmy wants to explore his independent side more then Sarah.
Tumblr media
“OOOOkaaAy....”
Tumblr media
“But you’re really going to miss a doozy!”
Tumblr media
And Sarah abandons Jimmy!
Witnessing this fight is more important to her then comforting her best friend.
If you think about it, this is Sarah’s first decision that is her own. Similar to Edd she always has to run her plans by Jimmy to see if they’re okay. Often Jimmy will call her out on her bad behavior. Still, it doesn’t stop Sarah. Here, she never asked Jimmy if it was okay if she went along by herself. Her mother told her no matter what she always had to get her way.
Sarah has always relied on her mom. Other then Nazz she is the only close female figure she has. Very similar to Eddy in his relationship with Bro. Since Bro was the only figure Eddy had around when he was little Eddy decided to look up to him. Both characters learn how wrong they were to do so and how they were never ready to face the world.
It’s a shame that Eddy and Sarah don’t have any screen time together. They don’t realize they learn the same lesson.
Speaking of which is that why Sarah craves to see this fight?
She knows that her brother is going to get beat up. What does Sarah have against Ed? Could she hate him because her mother never told her what was wrong with him?
Sarah doesn’t have anything against Edd. There has always been a flip flopped crush between them.
I think Sarah mainly wants to witness this fight to see Eddy get beaten to a pulp. They’re constantly arguing and don’t see eye to eye. She harasses at him at any given time. In all actuality they’d be great friends post BPS as they learn how similar they are. They were different to begin with.
Before I go on I wanted to mentioned a deleted scene that was cut while Sarah and Jimmy were skipping along. They were to discuss their theories on what may have been under Edd’s hat. One of these theories being the famous blonde hair.
See, AKA has been watching the fandom closely for viewers head canons on their show. As for why this scene was cut maybe it was for time sake. The movie would have gone in a much different and deeper direction if the confession scene was left in.
Danny actually meant what he said in the video when he admitted they were finally going to show viewers what was under Edd’s hat. There was build up during many points to show viewers what was under Edd’s hat. Once they decided to cut the scene, this little moment must have been cut too as it would have made no sense.
Tumblr media
Jimmy is at a loss for words seeing Sarah run off without him.
Jimmy just started trusting himself again. As I was explaining Jimmy had an identity crisis for some time after Fistful. In his two appearances from the season 6 episodes and the special The Eds are Comin’ he’s afraid of himself and tends to let others take the action.
His appearance in May I Have This Ed is minor but take a look at the outfit he’s wearing to the dance. Does that outfit look like something Jimmy would wear?
Look Before You Ed, the finally episode ever produced, is an important episode as it reconnects Edd and Jimmy. Jimmy becomes confident in himself once more. Although he abandons Edd and makes a mockery of he and his friends Jimmy is back to himself, making up his own ideas and taking leadership, much to Sarah’s disliking.
Jimmy has had quite the character evolution out of any character on this show. From the passive whiny child who was a magnet to slapstick to turning into one of the most hated among the fan base. I understand Jimmy’s ‘Agatha Christie’ scam riled viewers but think about what he did.
Would season 1 Jimmy have been able to do that? He let Sarah fight his battles and cried over every little thing. Jimmy should not be hated. He should be applauded for his growth, becoming the voice, and standing up for himself.
Why does he put up with Sarah when she won’t listen to him?
Because they depend on one another.
We all know what Sarah’s home life situation is like. If any of my own head canons are true I think they came together understanding one another. Sarah can be utter monster at times. Jimmy knows there is more. He is patient with Sarah. Sarah is lucky to have Jimmy as friend. It’s implied that she doesn’t have any other friends her own age. She’s driven everyone with her behavior.
Which brings us to an important character arc for Sarah. Learning to count on Jimmy and trust her own instincts.
Tumblr media
“I hope Kevin knocks Eddy’s teeth out!”
How could Jimmy say this when Eddy is the one who helped him out from his passive ways?
Jimmy was terrified of Eddy before the day they spent together in Ed in a Half Shell. I wonder if he was able to relate to Eddy on some level during his teachings.
Can each character relate to Eddy?
Arguably, Eddy has helped/saved each character from becoming someone they’re not. He has also tested their wits with these scams. Once the kids catch on to the scams and ignore the pleas for money Eddy has to admit that he is happy as they are finally thinking before following through.
In all actuality it was really Bro who saved the characters from becoming something they were not. Still, Eddy had a hand in this. Eddy is the most compassionate person on the show. We have had multiple discussions on how Eddy is more of a giver then a selfish person. Eddy has made everyone think about who they are and brought quite a positive impact within the cul-de-sac.
Nobody can live without Eddy.
Tumblr media
Jimmy decides to follow Sarah.
“Wait for me, girlfriend?”
Do you think Sarah and Jimmy will ever date when they’re older?
It depends on fans opinions about his sexuality. I head canon that maybe they’ll date for a brief period until Jimmy comes terms with his sexuality.
Tumblr media
The horror aspect doesn’t end as Jimmy runs down the opposite road of Sarah.
We head into a very familiar trailer park.
